Player is in server in second place. If player leaves server he will get the rewards for the server that he was originally in. Player transfer from second place to first place server and does all kinds of sabotage. Second place server beats first place server. Player reaps the full benefits.
This can happen now. Besides, do we even know the rewards yet?

It’s no secret that coverage = wins in WvW
There’s no magic quotient for “skill” in the leaderboards. If wins are determined by coverage as you say, then the leaderboards are absolutely an analysis of coverage, so they can just set up the leagues by the leaderboards.
I don’t think enough time has passed for the random glicko to work out the correct order of servers. The middle is still a jumble.
I’m pretty sure anet has better stats than what we have access to as well.
Doubtful. The current rankings are pretty good. The match ups from week to week may not be good, but the rankings are indicative of current level.
Well hopefully there will be a content update prior to the league starting (and no, siege mastery skills do not count)
I think the problem with PvP is around the developers sticking to the conquest mode. I think more people would play PvP if there was a team deathmatch. It would also be a lot more fun to watch.

As to your original post, I agree that AOE conditions are too strong right now. I didn’t really have an issue with “petting zoo”.
Ugh. It’s confirmed. There’s no way this is going to end up “fun” for T8 matched up with T1.
So you basically get a reward on your server because you’re stacked. Unbelievable. It’s just…..mindboggling. Stacked servers will now get MORE stacked because they want the rewards.

Try not to be negative all the time. Let’s wait until the details come out. There hasn’t been any news on how awards will be given or what happens if someone transfers in the middle of the league.
@OP: zergs avoid each other because it is easier to just hide in towers. Make towers easier to capture and it would force people to fight
Are there different causes for lag server side? Can there be lag derived from map population (WvW or PvE) as well as lag from server population?
Strictly speaking the lag isn’t due to population per se, it is due to concentrated groups of players using skills on each other. The server calculates things every time a skill fires off and the more people it hits the more calculations it does. So if you get enough people fighting against one another, or even fighting with one another, you start to see server CPU problems.
Maybe if you didn’t allow zerging to be beneficial in wvw we wouldn’t have this problem.
There is alot of ways to fix this, but the wvw staff doesen’t even seem to try.
Your reply makes no sense. You need to understand that a lot of us like large scale combat. If you do not, try roaming or PvP.

In regards to Stability:
Guardian stacking in WvW has become even worst because of Stand your Ground (SyG) and Idomitable Courage (IC). Even with timed boon stripping, there will always be a Guardian that has SyG or IC up because its only a 24(SyG)/45(IC) sec CD not including that most professions keep a pocket Stability skill handy just in case the Guardian’s stability doesn’t get on them. Also, coordinated zergs are very mobile and will avoid the fields or just run right over them.
In regards to condition removal:
Plagueform spamming is the efficient way to chills on an enemy zerg to slow them down because there is only a ICD to the skill during Plagueform (not including that Plagueform grants the necro stability). Other professions that have frost, crippling and immobilize can’t spam it nearly as much as a necro in Plagueform; therefore, making other profession’s soft CC useless because someone in the opposing team will just get it removed in less then a second from the groups massive condition removal, their passive condition removal, or the short condition duration brought to you be Lemongrass Poultry Soup+Superior Runes of Melandru.
Curious what tier you play in? There seems to be more of a move towards warriors than guards in my tier.
@OP No. The roamers are not really better in any tier. You have good ones and bad ones.
The main difference between T1 and lower tiers is around the number of people and the coordination of those greater numbers.
@OP Bad idea. ANET is already saying we can get the mats in WvW. So either get ascended or don’t.
Most warriors use warhorn in WvW (at least on my server). It’s not as useful in PvE or PvP though.
I don’t think warriors are OP. It is just CC regen warriors that are op right now.
Necro: Their AOE is too good right now
Thief: Permastealth not an issue. If they are in stealth, they can’t hurt you. Give them all permastealth and you’ve won. The good thiefs are more focused on S/D at the moment which is more about evades than stealth or blinds.
Engi/Ranger/Mesmer: These don’t really bother me much.

We are aware of this, but it is a non-trivial fix. We are hoping to make changes to this by the end of the year.
Not really something to fix. Of all the things that could be implemented in WvW, this is the low to no priority category.
@OP. Wow, it’s been awhile since I’ve seen a post where I disagree with everything written.
1. Longer matches??? No no no. With the exception of T1 in NA, there are not three other servers that match up really well together. After 3 months, people would get really bored. Especially in this new RNG match-up model, resets should happen twice a week. The most popular WvW night of the week is when reset occurs. This should happen 2x a week.
2. Show names? No thanks. I really do not need people messaging me from other servers. Right now I just need to be in a party to prevent that.
Oh, and WvW is already working so your title is wrong too.
I feel sorry for You Hugh. If anybody from this bunch of wvw players come there you will be screwed.
If I’ve learned anything in my 21 years of Internet Gaming “career”, it’s that people are much more amiable face to face. It’s the anonymity and the safety of several, possibly thousand miles of distance between you and the other party.
Or put another way… if someone is passionate enough about the game that they are willing to attend PAX, clearly they enjoy what ANET has created. Sure, they have ideas for changes but they really enjoy the core product.

Disagree with #3 and #4.
#3: They changed the orange sword mechanic recently. It had no effect. Quite frankly a big zerg won’t even care about lower level tower flipping because they will just retake it.
#4: WvW is already too much running. The WP is fine as it. Plus it is easy to contest a WP.
We can’t have everything for free, but I hope the WVW community is given a fair chance to earn ascended and legendary items within a reasonable time frame.

For ascended, we should be able to earn those in the same amount of time as someone in PvE. For legendary, those should take a reeeeeallly long time for anyone who wants one (besides it is just a skin, so who cares)

@OP: I wouldn’t worry too much about anyone calling you a noob. In my experience only a low quality player even says that. For them, a kill is unusual. For anyone skilled, they’ve killed so many people that 1 more isn’t a big deal.
As for 1v1, an S/D shouldn’t lose to you as an ele. Similar, you should never lose to a P/D thief. Can the opposite happen? Sure. Its one that one player is way more talented than the other.
No update this time is a good thing. With the addition of Ascended weapons, a lot of hardcore WvW types will be working on getting those.

Party up with someone in the “main” map or overflow where the event IS running and Join them. You’ll probably be told the map is full, keep trying and you’ll get in anyway.
This ^^ That said, the events should scale based on the number of people on the map. ANET already has the logic in place for guild bounties. Extend it to this event as well. In other words, a less populated overflow should be easier than a full one.

Could we get a dedicated GvG Deathmatch Arena with spectators and it’s own ranking system.
The WvW community has been asking for this type of arena since forever in the WvW forum but I believe they are not asking at the right place. GvG is sPvP deathmatch with more players so it seem fitting to ask it to the team that create all the PvP arenas in the game.
no no no. This is NOT what GvG people want. Most want to be able to use their own gear combinations and food buffs. GvG is way more strategic with all of the different combinations possible than what PvP allows.
Will be really cool especially if they do not allow siege in there.

At the very least though… their first priority should be downed skill balanced and no stupid rallies.
Everyone and their mother knows that stealth stomps are the least of your worries when it comes to stomps. My fav thing atm is elixir s tiny dunk stomping with the giant finisher. Kittening epic.

Whenever somebody gets their kitten beat, I have to deal with a non-ending spam of invites (which I obviously reject, or else they’d spam me to death with other kitten).
I’ve only ever used the function in WvW when stuff bugged out and I had to ask the opposite side about something on their end, not to grief, but that has only happened once and generally people organize GvG outside of the game anyway or on an external VOIP.
Even when it’s not being abused to harass players, it’s abused to spy on the enemy world.
Seriously, it makes 0 sense how this feature exists in WvW. Please, remove it.
The feature is fine as-is. Just invite an offline friend to your party and problem solved.

@OP Long post. I definitely agree with one thing. Players want to be able to PvP without a lot of gimmicky siege or NPCs. Given that WvW is turning more into PvE every day, I do think that is helping drive the GvG scene. GvG would happen regardless but the WvW direction is definitely helping.
Ele is perfectly fine right now. The issue is that a lot of players came to Ele when it was completely OP. Now that it is more balanced, those people are complaining because it is no longer OP.

In addition, think about the amount of time even your guild participates in GvG vs other WvW activities. Even EP spends more time on core WvW activities than on GvG. GvG is not equal to tagless guild runs.
I think everyone wants GvG. The main point here is that WvW shouldn’t be balanced around GvG. GvG needs its own cross-server arena with the ability for spectators to watch. It would definitely be more popular than PvP.

This whole Anet hosted E-Sports stuff has to go, we were wanting more balance updates than 1 per month (Every other bein but fixes, thus 1 every 2 months). Pax put a halt to big changes and left us in the worst meta the game has seen for longer than it should have been showcased. I’m all for pvp events, but don’t let it take away from development. There is far too much to be looked at currently for taking long development breaks just to have month+ long pvp events.

There is NO good reason not to allow for the resetting of skill points. If I can reset my main skills for 3 silver, I should be able to reset my WvW points for the same amount.
You guys need to remember that ANET isn’t building WvW with GvG in mind. Only a small subset of WvW players even GvG (although some of the most dedicated players love it).
The longer term solution needs to be a separate WvW map. Take the area behind the windmill, put it in its own separate map, and add a spectator mode. Make it an empty map with no points towards the weekly score. Every one will be happy. This doesn’t sound like a lot of work other than spectator mode. If that is hard, just let people sit on the hill. Done.
This is a fine map for hot join. It is just a horrible map for team or solo queue.

@OP: Let me give you the easy answer. I’d say not to pick thief. Here is why.
Roaming: You need fast reaction times here. The reason is that a lot of times you will be fighting outnumbered. I would not pick the thief if your reaction times are slow
Zerging: This is much less about reaction time and more about knowing when you dodge and where to stand within the zerg. While you can definitely play this way, zerging is a weak point for the thief class overall. I’d recommend guard, warrior, or necro instead.
any S/D + non S/D(ex. Shortbow) is not viable anymore in spvp or tpvp cuz of high init. cost of Larcenous strike or unless if you gonna go S/D+S/D. so most of the players now using S/P Shortbow cuz pistol whip dmg is really good with stunevade and 5init. cost is just fine! 1 pistol whip can kill a foe @ 70% hp… but LS 5 init. cost 1/2sec casting time is really hard to hit unless if u gonna spam it… but 1 FS+LS damage is almost 40%-50% lesser than the dmg of 1 pistol whip flurries.
There is really no chance S/D is going to see a buff anytime soon. It is the current strongest tPvP thief weapon set and is the most complained about,
There custom arena servers that let you duel people.
There are way more pressing issues with sPvP atm than duels, that can be played if so you desire anyway.

Necros are the current most OP class in PvP. The question is whether that’s as a result of Necro changes or because people still spec to deal more with direct damage than with conditions.

If I see skyhammer come up, I alt-f4. I never actually go into the map so idk if the system puts in a new person or if the team fights undermanned. Either way, I hope anet gets the message soon.
