It’s all in how the scores are done that incentivize the server stacking.
Lowering the impact of off hours scores to the match, via a x3 or more timer to the PPT tick would fix a lot of the off hour blow out problems. This still lets off time zone players PvD and get karma/WXP/XP/some coin for flipping things, but it doesn’t reward a stacked server for PvD to the match score anywhere near as much as it does currently.
This lets the large majority of match points be generated from kill spikes. Which gives servers with smaller WvW populations a chance to be competitive if they only have enough to critical mass on one map. So 2-3 strong open field guilds on a small server have a huge impact on the match competition facing even against T1 servers.
So this also disincentivizes having having multiple map blobs since those extra blobs won’t contribute very much to the over all score. There will be QQ’ing with players trying to get into the only map with action, and the stacked server pop will need to spread out to avoid the wrath of the que gods.
Also going to add to preserve siege play, keeps&towers should be the hold points for buffs(throw another thread up for that incentive). This will at least serve to spread blob play from all or nothing in the open field just for kills.
This ^^
To the TC in EB…would you be interested in hitting BG? The constant pressure on us is getting tiring and we cannot go to the dolyak parade if we are tired.
Fear not! The parade is tomorrow. Get a lot of rest and be ready for some marching.
Lol, I love people who defend these runes. Show me any other rune set that even comes close to these.
I personally do not use these runes, but I also do not see the problem. Watch the videos. Any regular spec could have beat those players way faster.
@OP. No idea if you have a point or are just rambling about a bunch of different topics. Either way, that’s a lot of words.
It is fine. Plus ANET nerfed karma everywhere else. This is the best place to get it.
Eles have too much damage? what
Eles do NOT have too much damage. They have too much healing.
1, Berserker stance – Nothing should give immunity to entire types of classes. no counter play. Very lame. Just make it 90% reduction in condition duration then at least necros can interrupt them
2, Automated response – see above. Losing to someone who is just 100x worse than you just because of a trait they take it total BS. How is this still in the game?
3, Warrior stuns – insane. You literally get knocked around like a ping pong ball by the warrior then die. Interrupt them you say! No you cant. Because they are immune to anything I do (lol)
4, Sword thief evades – way too many evades, teleports, etc on this weapon set
5, Thief feline grace trait – seriously wtf. They get to dodge for less. Anet need to realise dodging and evades = invulnerable. Invulnerable is good in pvp. Seriously.
6, Vigor – most op boon ever. Way more dodges = more invuln = never die = lame. You need to balance this boon. By reducing the amount of vigor gained by certain classes.
7 , Runes of lyssa – seriously wtf is this. Its so OP. Why do you think 50% of people in any game run these. People use elites purely for this rune set. Shows how insane it is.
8, Sigil of energy – dodging is OP. Anet really need to get this or this game will fail.
9, Nature of renewal. So broken and frustrating. Gives you massive advantage in team fight. No counter play as killing it resses anyway. Massive HP. Massive healing. Full condi cleanses. It is just way too good.
10, Ele burst – too high, should be brought down. Promotes macroing and even more cheese. Solution to making ele viable isnt to give it cheese.
11, Signet of spite – why make something so lame as this? it takes no skill to just random land a signet of spite then fear someone = death. I lose to so many bad necros who run this or signet or plague. Enough. Nerf signet of spite durations or increase the cooldown.
12, healing spring – too strong
13, Elixr R – people shouldnt be able to res themselves – come on.
14, Lag – fixing lag matters. Lag is Op in this game. Most the games I lose is because I get dced for 2 mins start of every match. Winning from 3 cap and 100-0 down isnt easy.
15, Emphatic bond – passive condi removal is lame. End of.
16, Healing turret – cast time too short. Cant be interrupted.
17, Healing signet – cant be interrupted so where is the counter play?
18, Shadows refuge – cooldown too short.
19, Stand your ground – get too much for this. Increase the cd.
20, Burning – burning is OP. Nerf it by 25%
21, Asuras – too small. Cant see them for kitten. Lame and should be nerfed/banned
There are 21 things to fix. Get to work on these and people will be happy.
Balance devs, do us all a favour and print this off and put the “To-do list” at the top and then stick it on your wall
So basically you want to nerf every class except for necros. Are you serious? Necros are the OP class at the moment.
My hope…. changes to the scoring system. If the way scores are calculated are changed, it doesn’t matter how they do the tiers. Servers with the most number of players should receive fewer points than less populated servers. That would result in a more even match-up (score wise) between T1 and T4.
This is ridiculous, why would anyone want to be rewarded for showing up ? This is fat kid syndrome at its finest, the point of PvP is to fight other player and win by defeating them …. think about that for a second, getting spawn camped all week followed by a pat on the back suggesting you won is not winning. Handy capping is not whats needed, forced balancing is whats needed before this goes live. If I play on a low ranked server that Loses and then am told by Anet that I won …. then I’m done with GW2, and further more if they go this route then they have NO business trying to be an E-sport.
No, fat kid syndrome is people transferring to higher tier servers so they it makes them feel better.
A league cannot be successful if it is just blow out after blow out every week. There are not a lot of options to make the leagues even other than scoring changes.
Will you developpers ever do something about thieves?
Constantly being downed by one who is only pressing one or two buttons is really making me sick. It’s insulting.
I want to believe others have a chance in a one versus one too.
As I see it now, thieves were created to oblige the others to stay with the group.
If that’s what you’re aiming for, then please tell me so I can finally make my mind up about this game.
I also think there isn’t much left of the compensations for light armor. Do you still consider those, or what’s the concept around the professions and armor types?
Some clarification would really help me out.
It is actually good to see new players coming to the game. We used to see threads like these a lot. The reality is that at this point, thieves are weak as a class. They are easy to fight against. The issue is that most people when they see a thief, they try to run away. That is the worst possible thing to do, since hitting from the back is where a lot of the thieves damage comes from.
Anyway, stick with it. As you play more, you’ll learn to enjoy fighting and killing thieves.
Wow @OP. You must be new or something. A game isn’t build in a day…. Do you have any idea how long this game has been in development? It has been years. Try learning something about game development prior to posting.
@OP – It might help in 1v1 but if it is a 3 second revealed on a 40 second cooldown, it really isn’t worth it. That’s basically one rotation for a thief and a good one will just dodge anyway.
Rangers are the weakest class right now. I don’t think this one skill is really an improvement though. It’s a throwaway skill that most will not even run.
What I don’t get is why they don’t just keep the nerfs to spvp only. That is the only area in the game where ele was ever a problem. It has always been incredibly underpowered in PvE and WvW. It could bunker decently in WvW, but so can EVERY other class if they spec for it. Why was ele singled out and nerfed into oblivion when they already had the lowest health, armor, and damage to begin with? And we just keep getting weaker with every patch. Keep the nerfs just to spvp and stop destroying the class in other parts of the game for those of us who never bother with spvp anyway.
Lolol. Underpowered in WvW? It was the MOST OP class for a long time there.
What do you expect? OP is an ele. This is the class that a few months ago was insanely overpowered. Now that it has been brought down to be more in line with other classes in PvP, a lot of eles are complaining.
@OP- Go to WvW. Only some nerfs were implemented there. The class is still quite strong and a necessary part of any good zerg.
Burnfall – your rants about thieves aren’t productive. Not all thieves seek an easy way out. Please refrain. thank you.
I stand by Truth
I’m confirming the Truth
Let the Truth speak the Truth
The truth is that a lot of people come onto the forums to complain. Anyone who has any skills whatsoever is able to defeat most thieves these days.
It really doesn’t matter how many leagues they divide NA into. It will still be full of blowouts. Let’s look at 4 leagues.
In League 1, BG, SOR, and JQ will fight for first place. Most likely the final results will end in that order. Then you have TC which can’t compete with the top 3, but will blow out FA and DB. Boring.
In League 2, SOS will dominate. Everyone else will just fight for second.
I know some people do not like the scoring changes idea, but it is the only way to make the league competitive. At least that way, we will not know who will win the league going into it. Right now, the results are already determined.
My hope…. changes to the scoring system. If the way scores are calculated are changed, it doesn’t matter how they do the tiers. Servers with the most number of players should receive fewer points than less populated servers. That would result in a more even match-up (score wise) between T1 and T4.
You guys are never satisfied. You think the population declined. Actually this was ANET’s plan to eliminate the queue issue!
yes, i am jk.
They were used to being unstoppable bunkers with f-load of damage so when that was toned down they all came here to cry a river and still are.
This ^^
So you welcome feedback as long as its positive? If you post a build for everyone to see, you have to be willing to accept criticism.
I do ‘like’ your build. I tried it, thought it was really easy to ‘learn’, really easy to win 1vX with, and I had a blast. But I stand by my opinions, the runes are way too strong, and it is an easymode build.
I wasn’t trying to be confrontational, I was just expressing my opinions.
Really no point in arguing against the build. There is nothing in it for you.
The new Leagues are going to destroy what remains of WvW. The T1 servers are light years beyond even T2.
After months of poor match ups, WvW will be dead. Yesterday was the first Sunday ever that I did not experience a queue on SOR. Because of our current bad match up.
This might be the Worst idea I have ever seen in a video game. WvW is end game for a lot of people. Making it totally uncompetative is just going to lose you customers in the long run.
I know I won’t sit through 8 weeks of 100000 point victories.
Sacrx seems to be 100% right. They are purposefully killkng WvW so that people might start playimg Spvp. I can tell you right now, I would rather play Smite, LoL or Dota2 than spvp. And 99% of the WvWers I know will not spvp at’all.
This actually may be true. I’m sure behind closed doors they know that their PvP mode is a wreck This could be the only way to get people to start playing. What they don’t understand is that PvP = casual mode; WvW = hardcore mode.
Seriously, if anyone transfers servers for this league, they are a tool. We don’t even know the rewards other than some lame finisher right now.
And yet I see full maps all the time…….
Where? Tequatl?
There ain’t no full maps in T1 NA or T2 NA right now.
But in all seriousness this update was just the last straw. WvW has been in steady decline since the February patch which brought all the lag. Now its got more holes than swiss cheese.
haha. I’m sure Shemsu is a dev hoping and praying they didn’t wreck WvW even though the forum community told them what would happen ahead of time.
Other than reset night, there are no queues even in T1 on most maps this week.
Unfortunately, thieves are pretty weak at every part of the game right now except for killing noobs. It’s sad actually.
Did you forget to put “not” in the title?
Yeah, that NOT word is quite important given the OPs post. Edit?
PvE:
War
Gua, Mes
Ele
Nec, Ran, Thi, EngWvW:
Ele, Gua
Nec, War
Mes
Ran, Thi, EngI dont sPvP, too slow for me.
Agree. I’m more warrior to the top tier in WvW (and even more so once the shout heal buff comes). Other than that, I agree.
I notice, especially on the WvW board, that there is a cry for players’ voices to be heard by developers. Likewise, I have also seen forum users to be called the “vocal minority”.
So my suggestion is this – Why not, after a patch, simply put the in-game rating system that beta had? It is crude, but it would allow for immediate proof if the popular opinion and vocal minority are, in fact, synonymous.
The con to this is that the rating system would be biased with popular opinion. For example, the orbs are very negative right now, and bias might skew the results. But I believe biased results of popular opinion still shows popular opinion.
Just my two cents.
Edit: Thinking about it, it might make more sense to wait a week or so and then put it in. Also, I think it would be helpful if the results were public. Can’t argue with results on the forums.
I think this is a fantastic idea. Unfortunately, at least point, I think ANET wouldn’t listen to it anyway.
Good post, +1.
The problem is that Devon has painted the whole WvW development team in a corner. When he said outright that the forum community was a vocal minority that can be disregarded, he basically told the forum community that they were completely wrong about the Bloodlust buff, as well as the league system. Should these two features prove to be a fiasco, I really don’t think that Devon will be able to swallow his pride and admit that the forum community was actually right. That would set a huge precedent for future updates to WvW.
Now don’t get me wrong, it may indeed be the case that the forum community is a vocal minority, and that 90% of the game absolutely love the Bloodlust buff. However, the general consensus among almost all of the people I regularly play with seem to be a different one. We also see post from people who legitimately never post on the forums, and while I may be biased in this, the arguments FOR having Bloodlust in its current implementation don’t seem to hold water.
Devon can keep talking about how the WvW population is growing under his watchful eye, but until we see statistics on this nobody is going to believe him. Besides, if he actually thinks there is any form of causality between adding something like Catapult mastery and having .1% of the PvE population go to WvW I really don’t know what to say.
Unfortunately for him, it turned out the forum community knew more than he did. ANET was warned what would happen. They chose to ignore it. It will be interesting to see if they blindly begin the league with no changes. If so, they will be in for another fail that everyone predicted.
Actually the OP is right. EB has been really populated this week, but the BL maps seem empty.
The OP must be joking. There doesn’t seem to be many people playing.
Too many people want to complain and offer little or no solutions.
I have a solution…all the complainers should go off and design the MMO they want and let the rest of us enjoy a well designed and enjoyable MMO while we wait for your epic one to roll out.
Or maybe you should pay attention. Many forum users predicted what would happen BEFORE it went live. They were right. It wasn’t too hard to know that bloodlust would impact balance.
Forum users also made plenty of bloodlust suggestions. Try doing a search before writing a post.
Just stop using perplexity runes. It’s OP and makes you look like a noob. No, it doesn’t even look like it, you are one.
Bitter much?
If someone alt-F4s to prevent being stomped, I feel sorry for them. It basically says they weren’t good enough to win a fight and their biggest skill is quitting the game.
I personally haven’t seen this happen much
After playing my thoughts…
1. The new capture points are fun. The map changes were a good idea.
2. Bloodlust is a bad idea. The stats increase should never have happened. It kills balance and hurts roamers.
So, I’m ready to call round 1.
Forum users: 1
ANET: 0
Next up is the league in 2 weeks. ANET thinks this will be fun for everyone. Forums users think it will just cause even more lopsided matches. Let’s hope ANET can win this next one, otherwise, it will be a miserable time for everyone.
Unfortunately, thief is the exact opposite of OP. It’s probably the second weakest class right now. A thief is good at killing noobs though and unfortunately, that is who posts in the forums a lot.
Personally, I’d only use condi builds for roaming in WvW, maybe D/D in sPvP.
Power builds are much better most other places. In addition that extra damage will help you get more “tags” during the fight.
I don’t agree with invulnerable, but double HP plus swiftness would be fun.
@OP. Not really thanks from a roamer. The patch gives small teams something to do, and that is good. It destroys solo roamers though since usually it’s a 1vx situation anyway, and if the enemy has bloodlust, it makes the fight even harder.
What arena net doesnt understand. GvG is a WAYYYY more viable esport then tpvp
I’d pay to go to go watch a GvG live, anyone else?
Just be careful what you wish for. ANET has a history of giving people the high level of what they want, but implemented the wrong way. I’m just worried that ANET will eventually launch GvG as a PvP mode. That will be just boring. The exciting part of GvG is everyone using different armor combos, food buffs, etc. It adds much more strategy.
PvP = casual mode
WvW = hardcore mode
The problem with ele is similar to the warrior.
Warriors were always OP in WvW zergs and in PvE. there were horrible in PvP. So, ANET buffs warriors in PvP and now made them even more OP in WvW zergs (and even more so again when they buff shout heals) and in PvE.
For eles, they were OP everywhere for a period of time. So, they left the core of ele in WvW but nerfed ele hard in PvP. Now they are in the position that if they increase PvP, eles will be insanely OP in WvW again.
ANET’s mistake here was in changing Tequatl. They should have left him alone and instead introduced a new dragon somewhere else in the world.
And even with testing it – for 5 minutes – they released it while nobody was able to beat it in testing… What sort of release policy is that?
To see how the community handles it.
It’s just lazy work by anet.
All you are doing is making this game less accessible to newer players. Leave the bosses the way they were. Add new bosses/dragons in addition. Come on. This is just lazy.
Personally, I hope ANET is right. If so, forum users need to learn to trust the dev team. If the forum users are right, then ANET needs to get a clue and realize they do not understand WvW at all.
There’s a third option: Anet does understand WvW, but understands it as something completely different from how we players look at it.
Anet wants WvW to be a vehicle that moves PvE players towards sPvP (esports!).
They do not care about the WvW game mode in and of itself. Practically all Anet behavior points towards this.I believe Anet is trying to make WvW more zergy, to kill off all small man and solo gameplay. They hope that these players will move to sPvP (esport!).
Look at the new orb mechanic. If their true intention was to break up zergs into smaller groups, they would have put the capture points far from each other. This was definitely possible: there’s the centaur region and the skritt region that were never being used. Instead they placed them all together — making the area look like an sPvP (esports!) map. Coincidence? I think not.
This is interesting. Surely ANET releases that WvW is more popular than PvP. They failed at PvP. It is not interesting.
WvW on the other hand was exciting.
“ppl who post and complain on forums are vocal minority. most players enjoying game.”
however:
the silent players may hold similar opinions as the vocal minority.
I’m definitely interested to see the thoughts of the players when I log into WvW later.
Devon: We will be adding more liquid WXP that will be purchasable, likely with badges and some other currency, soon. As in, less than a month. I’ve made it a personal goal to improve the experience for playing alts in WvW. And to cut it off now, we are not making WvW rank account bound.
Wait does that mean we are getting that in less than 5 days? Devon you promised! I have 5 ALTS I need that! 5 rank 60-70 and still no guard buff
Hope it’s not another empty promise…
Stop whining. You are the reason ANET doesn’t like to give us previews of what’s coming.
Oh no. Please do not give ANET ideas. Next update we will see the bot mastery skill.
S:
Necro – AOE condi spam and fear
Warrior – CC regen is insane. Healing signet needs to be have less base heal and an increased tie to healing power. (Use soldiers amulet and the heal should be much less than today. Use clerics and it should be more than today)
A:
None
B:
Guardian – If this was a tPvP thread, they would be A
Mesmer – Fantastic roamer
Ele – Not as bad as eles like to claim.
Engi – 2 good specs
C:
Thief – Good for killing noobs. That’s about it.
C-:
Ranger – Easy to kill
There is a huge disconnect between the anet dev team and the forum users. Both sides think they know more than the other. The good news is that soon we will know which side has a clue and which side needs to learn. There are two big areas of disagreement.
1. Bloodlust- Anet thinks this will add fun to the BL maps; Forum users think it will create more imbalance and kill roaming/gvg.
2. Leagues- anet thinks this will be an exciting and competitive league; Forum users think most outcomes are already determined and users will transfer to higher tier servers before the league begins.
Personally, I hope ANET is right. If so, forum users need to learn to trust the dev team. If the forum users are right, then ANET needs to get a clue and realize they do not understand WvW at all.
Let’s see.
