There is Poll on Mounts
So far Majority do not really want mounts.
Every vote counts so please vote

Thats not the same. Since these would be vehicles. For battle. not just transportation.
That would just make it more work to implement. On top of it being flying would probably make them have to rebuild most of the maps which weren’t designed to be seen ’cept for select angles.
I mean, that’s not to say it’s a bad idea or that it shouldn’t be done.
I am vehemently against increasing the rewards for killing players because it’s so different between tiers. It’s already very out of whack.
Entire guilds are still moving from the bottom tiers to higher tiers, this month, last month, every month. Game is still broken.
It’s way faster to farm 100 gold than 10k badges. People do 10 gold/hour farming. No one I know does 1000 badges/hour farming. Also there’d be no way to donate to a commander that’s new. I’ve also done thousands of hours of WvW. I have 500 badges and 10 gold – if I had to get my tag now, it would be too much of a grind.
Further more, I would like to remind people in higher tiers that low tiers badges and WvW levels aren’t as plentiful.
Nothing compares to the things people say when you kill a champion without a train in Queensdale.
PvE people are the meanest people.
“A lot of crying”
Did you beta test friend?
No
That’s where you should have stopped then.
I should have stopped asking you to provide some example of what you’re talking about?
“A lot of crying”
Did you beta test friend?
No, I just think you should argue on merits instead of makin up things about people’s character.
I take some pride that you found “a lot” of crying in a single sentence. I’m usually not one for brevity.
total waste of resources that could’ve been used to improve the WvW. Now you get a pointless map where you spend most of your time running to where you wanna go.
Agreed, The place is awful and the time and resources spent on that could have been used to improve WvW.
After the initial interest wears off that map will end up just another dead zone.
this.
I spent about 30-45 mins in the map and 85-90% of that was just spent running to the places I wanted to get.
Colossal waste of time, resources and manpower that, like others have said, could have been used to ACTUALLY improve WvW…not make a map that detracts players from it. Glaring class balance issues could have been addressed as well, they could have used the time to actually talk to the community and get a feel for what THE COMMUNITY wants. After a week this zone will most likely have a close 24/7 outnumbered buff.
I hate to say it because even with all the faults of WvW and Anets lack of cooperation with the community I still enjoyed playing it immensely, however, any competitive aspect of this game is on its last legs or dead already. It seems like Anet has geared 100% toward improving PvE in this game. PvP died a while ago and the influx of WvW players that occurred during and after Season 1 has gone.
Shame because this post will probably get deleted too. Instead of actually taken to heart by Anet.
Anet actually listened to players when doing this map.
Players asked for no WP in order to break the blob? Anet gave no WP.
Players asked for more meaningful objectives? Anet gave a sense to objectives (through buffs)
Players asked for harder to beat NPC’s? Anet designed harder to beat NPC’s
Players complained about Dolly escort? Anet deletes the need to have dollies.
Players asked better incetitive for defense? Anet rewards defense on this map.
Players asked for NPC to man siege? Anet made them able to do so.
Players asked for a place that would demand strategy? Anet designed a map where strategy – not numbers – can win the day.
Players asked for a place where they can fight ennemies in a balanced MU? Anets allows the maps to be filled by colors, so that there is always people around.Pretty much all concerns that keep coming back about WvW design have been addressed in that map. The team responsible for class balance didn’t work on EoTM. The teams responsible of any concerns expressed by WvWers that were not taken in consideration have likely not worked on this map.
I would love complainers to point out exactly which player’s concerns linked with design of WvW maps and mechanics were not taken in consideration on this map.
They changed the few design concerns mentioned in alpha – eg, they changed the length of bridges to make it harder to be pushed out right at the exit of a bridge, and overall, unless a player is putting himself in a bad position, it’s pretty hard to make one fall, especially compared to the beginning of alpha.
General comments like the ones cited are not constructive and bring nothing to a thread named EoTM is amazing. If there are genuire tangible concerns with the new map or it’s design, pointing them out shall be great. But as far as I’m concerned, devs putted in it what many players have been asking for a long time regarding WvW design.
Do I agree with all? Nope. But I’m not going to get on devs. back pretending they are not listening when they basically just putted players feedback in a map…
They put some players feedback in a map…Hand picked guilds, ones that were afraid to even give “certain types” of feedback lest they be kicked from the Beta.
Unless you have some proof of that, that’s just a baseless attack on the character of a good number of people and does no one a service.
Stonemist rolls eyes 1.5 years in and I don’t have 10 caps on that achievement.
How is playing WvW for a couple days at all the part of legendary that is objectionable?
Well, as we were told that changing old achievements is hard but making new ones is easy.
If it were up to me, I’d just take the old ones and multiply the points by 10. We already know they can do that ’cause they did it with the Hall of Monument achievements.
And maybe then I’d have more achievements for having earned 500+ ranks in WvW (not counting the months I played before ranks) than having 12 ranks in sPvP.
And there it is, ty styx
Never shall we go to sleep worrying about the thousands tier 1 bandwagoners sitting in queues ever again.
Isn’t Karma pretty much useless? I have tons of karma and have no idea what to do with it.
There’s always new PvE’ish players to the game who wanna make a legendary and need to farm up karma.
I would like to see links on where Anet said they wanted this for a specific reason. People say “Anet wanted EotM for X or Y reason” and I don’t remember them saying any of that

“11) The goal of this map is to provide a place for the thousands of people who queue daily to be able to experience the WvW experience rather than being left out. There will be massive battles, epic sieges, stirring defenses, and crushing defeats on this map. We want as many people as possible to be playing WvW and as we expand into other territories we want to make sure they don’t experience the massive queues that we saw at launch in NA/EU.”
It’s pretty easy to dodge the turret attacks or bring stability.
Yes, but not so easy mid fight.
Go back to your borderlands, fight for your server instead of dying to NPC turrets for no reason =)
Got 16 while guildie got 18 dragonite from capping garrison yesterday. I think it’s Jormang level now.

To be fair, it’s a map meant to address one thing: queues. I don’t have queues so I don’t particularly care that got addressed but no sense in being angry that a map doesn’t fix every thing you think is wrong with WvW.
People who want to WvW for fun. It was a blast last night and a bag/cupcake factory.
It is now declared, by me, the Queen of IoJ that using the term ‘cupcake’ for loot bags is now banned as it has been deemed nonsensical. Thank you and have a good day.
I’m afraid that Queen of Isle of Janthir has domain only over the Isle of Janthir. Maybe you can find the queens of the other servers and make some kinda joint proclamation.
I’d say it was made for people who want to be entertained while they wait in queue. A place to goof off.
In this thread, servers with the most argue about which among them has the least. With graphs and everything.
IF Devon feels it was a success, then I’m losing a lot of hope for WvW’s future. Leagues killed a lot of interest in WvW. A lot of players do not appreciate or want a prolonged battle. If anything, players have been asking for shorter duration matches that don’t even last a week. Not a 7 week long season.
In bronze leagues, the league was a success. It brought out a lot of people and re-energized the servers.
Not quite sure you’re qualified to speak for players.
Rangers are hated for two main reasons:
They draw the worst community of players
and because they have drawn the worst community from day one, people have become used to this assumption therefore if you’re a Ranger you’re automatically bad/useless even if that’s not always the case (although 99% of the time it is.)I disagree completely that anything the Ranger can do another profession can do better. Although yes, Rangers are lacking in some key areas, that doesn’t make them useless it just means the player behind them has to learn not to neglect the weaknesses and to overcome them.
I have fought many people on my Ranger 1v1 as well as 1v2 and come out the victor. Although it can be a struggle where as on a Warrior or Thief it might not, that doesn’t mean the victory was in vain. I didn’t spam a single attack (Earthshaker/Heartseeker) and I didn’t either facetank everything or spend 90% of my time in stealth where I’m virtually (let me stress virtually for those who play Thief and will freak out to defend this) invincible because all they need to do is side-step attacks and their opponents would be none the wiser.
As a Ranger you need to be constantly aware of your position. And it should be the main thing on your mind when in combat.
Position
If you’re not paying attention to where you’re standing you’re going to get facerolled. And this is why so many Rangers get spiked within 5 seconds of combat. When in ZvZ, duels or roaming, or what ever form of battle I’m in as I enjoy all roles in WvW, I’m always thinking about where I’m standing or where the best place to stand would be. They should be treated like a sniper not a heavy machine-gunner. If I get on a nice hill when zergs clash I can pick people off all day long. Just yesterday in blue keep I was standing on the dome above lord and with max range when the other server broke through I sat up there just watching bags pile around my feet. 3.5k + at make range with Long Range Shot on a squishy enemy… Lol. One Rapid Fire with every arrow hitting, which uninturruped from a good position isn’t hard to pull off, can take half someones health bar out easily.Ranger’s aren’t useless… If you’re going to war you’re going to want one or two snipers with you to pick off the stragglers. The people behind the Rangers are the useless ones… They’re the ones standing with people 5 feet infront of them and they’re not even looking down their scope.
So although yes; they are lacking in certain areas.
Yes if there are too many in a group they will become more of a burden than a help.
And yes the majority of them are bad players. -
It doesn’t mean they’re all useless it just means you need to try a bit harder to recognize which ones are using the profession properly. And for the record, if what a Ranger can do any other profession can do better… I feel sorry for all the Longbow Warriors I’ve killed pretending to be a Ranger.
The first part is especially true. A lot of wvw people have been told that rangers are poo, as pve people say, and if you keep repeating it enough everyone else seems to believe it too. Its funny how ive seen some prestigious guilds on here still make somewhat ignorant comments about the status of rangers. Theyve just been used to the meta of not using rangers, and won’t change.
This is ridiculous. Necromancers used to be as much a joke as rangers. Patch buffed necromancers and then they instantly became established and recognized for their value.
The meta changes with every balance patch. Ranger is one of the most popular classes. People want to play rangers and they will be thrilled to dust them off when they’re as viable as other options.
It’s not an issue of implementation. It’s a design decision and one I agree with. People can opt into inter-server communication through forums or startin parties. If someone on the other hand wants to troll you it’s very hard for them to do.
That’s how it should be.
Ugh, let’s not stop talking about who is “hardcore” and who is not. What is wrong with MMO people?
People will go ‘cause it’s new. They’ll stay if it’s more fun, they’ll not stay if it’s less fun.
We can kick/invite to party with right click? Okay, despite all the pandering to tier 1 this patch is doin I’m gonna vote it the best WvW patch yet.
18 months in and we have functional UI! high fives all around
Now just got to get over the hump of having the emptiest WvW maps ever after Edge of the Mist until the next big exciting WvW update (whenever that is!).
(edited by styx.7294)
ITT: People who still think Anet actually cares about what players want.
Not like there is a history of some company consistently ignoring player requests and releasing content in PVP that no one asked for. OOOOOOHHHH… WAIT.
Well, first I need to ask you a question…. What do players want? Seems all we want to do is complain about anything Anet creates.
We wanted WvW or we wouldn’t have bought the game. Now, everyone has a different spin on how WvW should be changed, based on their own experience (and normally most people on these forums just want it changed so they can win easier, at other peoples expense. They call it balance, but only balance for them).
So, in all fairness to Anet, we must admit that the player base cannot come to a consensus on what they want.
Game design shouldn’t be about givin what people what they want. It should be about providing a quality product.
The game had 5 years in development and is now launched for 1.5 years but in a system where servers play against each other the game rewards you for leaving your losing server and joining the winning one. kitten on player feedback, half of it is tier 1 problems that resulted from overstacking anyway (queues! skill lag! elistism against PvE players ‘cause we’ve stacked the maps full of WvW bandwagoners! maps empty save for super zergs!).
I’d like to thank all the people playing Edge of the Mist exclusively for keeping us safe from Scarlet. That’s a load off our minds.
I’d guess it’s the same bell curve on every server just more people servers have more people and so you have more people at the higher ends of the bell curve. So I would guess that it most likely that the best and worst players are on the most populated server.
You can say what you like about people on the small servers but I don’t see why people like that aren’t on the high tier servers as well. Just there’s people other than that as well.
But why SoS?
Why not?
The only other server that is hurting for NA as much as SoS is/was is Dragonbrand. T2 offers great fights without the queues and politics of Tier 1.
TC and FA have great NA guilds like AGG, FEAR, ZzZz, STUN, NAGA, APS, PINK, NOPE, and many more. If you like a good fight like ZoD and GH do; you probably want a crack at that group.
edit: Not to mention both RET’s (Reticle and Retribution)
Why not transfer guilds up tiers? Can’t think of a reason.
Relax. It’s just a bit of story to introduce the new map.
Concentrate on the good news: A proper queue system that tells you which maps are queued without you having to try them and tells you your position in the queue.
The last bit is not good news for most servers which don’t have a queue.
Bleh, this seems like the worst way to introduce the map. Now the PvE guilds that love achievements (as they themselves described to us) that showed up to help during leagues are being led to not help us in WvW PPT wise. What the hell, ArenaNet? You’re worried no one is going to join your overflow map? Maybe ‘cause the maps don’t have queues!
I’m starting to think ANet actually believes if they can force feed us terrible LS content that somehow we’ll develop some type of Stockholm syndrome.
Also, the reason WvW players don’t spend as much the Gem store is….Because they do not put anything in there for WvW players! Shocker!
Not all the LS has been crappy. Plus, who said that next weeks update will be crappy? Who even says that EoTM is even going to be heavily laced with LS elements.
I remember a post before Christmas, where they said they were only going to do an update once a month for the final portion of this living story arc, so can we assume that this patch will just be a minor one?
People will love EoTM on the 7th, as the maps are queued for reset.
Edge of the Mist likely will do more to kill WvW than Living Story will. Most WvW maps aren’t queued.
I’m starting to think ANet actually believes if they can force feed us terrible LS content that somehow we’ll develop some type of Stockholm syndrome.
Force fed? What kind of rhetoric is that? You have to go out of your way to even kill these mobs. They’re located in very low traffic areas (dunno about Eternal Battleground but in the borderlands… like how often do you find yourself on the cliff west of Hills?).
I mean, the alternative would have been for those areas to be empty. Instead they’re not empty but we can treat them like empty and it doesn’t change a thing. I’m not saying this is the best idea of it’s fixing anything but Living Story in WvW isn’t going to kill it. Living Story in WvW isn’t what’s wrong with WvW (it’s just a meh). We gotta fight the fights that matter.
My experience it’s a non-issue. People don’t stop what they’re doing, no one shows up to farm it, it’s not in well travelled places, and it’s not like our maps are queued. Is that the problem? You’re fightin queues with PvE players? If this is a topic about first tier problems, I’m gonna flip a table.
I would just like to point this out
Tank – Guardian, Warrior
Support – Gaurdian, Elementalist
DPS – Warrior, Necro, ElementalistExcellent job they have done avoiding the trinity. To further compound the issue, have managed to make 4 classes sub par in every way when compared to the other 4.
Before you argue how the other classes have uses and can be used instead of one of the GWEN take a moment and reflect on why its those 4 classes.
You’re seeing what you want to see.
What’s healing? It’s coming off like just about every class. The big heals are coming from 2+ classes combo’ing together.
What’s support? The CC that’s put out? The boons distributed? Everyone is doing that.
What’s damage? In a zerg, the most damaging classes aren’t doin that much more on an auto attack than a non damage class.
I like the three categories though: losing hit points, causing others to lose hit points, and other.
So I have noticed we have even less people online then normal which is saying something since we were always outnumbered anyway.
So I only really like WvW. I am not willing to transfer. So does that mean the game is dead for me?
Anyone have a pep talk or know if anything is going to be changing soon?
Leave the server. Here is not loyalty, this is a game, is about fun, in low tier server there is no fun, transfer where you can meet players who want to play the game like you.
I was on SF for almost a year. Trying with few to keep fighting for the server, i see a lot of guilds die.
Low tier servers are dead. The best decision i took is transfer to a t3/2 server.
More guilds die in the top tiers than bottom tiers. From what I’ve seen, most guilds that transfer to top tiers only go there to die.
Question: (and really not sure what the answer is) Let’s imagine that ANet wound up with an amazing generation of servers that let everyone in queue in without performance issues. Would that make WvW better or worse?
Worse. Imagine having 300 people per side on a map. My ideal PvP encounter isn’t smashing two trains together, it’s an interactive encounter where I can use my character skills without being one shot by 50+ people laying DPS into me.
Others may disagree.
Well on GoM things have been way worse. In fact, thanks to the leagues things have become incredibly better. Even if we had our ups and downs since then, it’s not been as worse as before the leagues began.
And since it ended, things got even better. Which surprised me, so I’m happy.
Wat
RedStar is right, Ferrum. Leagues helped Gate of Madness a lot. I’ve said as much elsewhere as well.
King Amadaeus describes things at their worst. Before leagues, Gate of Madness was pretty depressing. ArenaNet needs to find a way to get people to spread out but as far as I can tell all they’re doing is fixing tier 1 problems by spending months developing a map. Drying up population one tier at a time is how WvW is going to die and it has been exactly doing that since launch.
That said, the way things are right now WvW in the low tiers still does provide great smaller scale fights that are a lotta fun. We’re not at the point where the servers are dead. Sometimes you can’t find much fights in off times but honestly it’s not any better if you’re lookin for roamin fights in the upper tiers either. The smaller community though does mean you’ll get to know a lot of the personalities in WvW. It’s very much like a small town.

Thief downstate can be countered by anyone with an instacast port.
Mesmers and elementalists are the two downstates that have no counterplay on the first stomp attempt unless the mesmer or elementalist uses their 2 ability way too early and screws themselves.
Stealth counters mesmer actually. If they can’t target, they can’t use it.
You never had like a thief that just seems like they’re in stealth forever after downing? Like I swear half the thieves we down are like in stealth for somethin like 5+ seconds while we beat on their downed corpse. Maybe it’s stealth stackin? I dunno, thieves are a mystery to me.
Mesmer downed state 2 requires a target? Didn’t know that. So, it’s just elementalist that has no counterplay then (unless they screw up).
Unless they drop a stealth-house right before they die, thief is a guaranteed stomp as long as your port is up and you get on them before downed state three is up.
Yeah, like any clone skill, you need a target.
That’s way too many conditions for thieves to go right. Not many classes carry teleports and sometimes you gotta use ‘em for things other than stomps. On the other hand, there’s a million ways to deal with the interrupt skills (thief is best at that too, oddly enough).
The point I’ve been making the whole time, is that BG has to keep recruiting guilds and can never admit that they have enough. Not until there are queues on every map at every hour can they slow down recruitment. Complacency and boredom are probably driving people on BG to PvE in droves. It’s not by chance that they killed Tequatl first; it was probably all WvW burnouts.
Keep these accusations coming some of them are just funny. Are you still bitter about BG replacing SoS in tier 1 a year later. The attachment below is not about the mesmer, but a specific buff
You ask for an instance (because you are lazy) of someone implying that BG needs more people and then you post a picture of the outmanned buff.
Please find a time, any time that BG consistently ticks under +230ppt. I don’t mean for a few seconds or randoms screenshots. I mean, give me a 2-3 hour timeframe (early EU, late NA, etc) that BG ticks less than 1/3 of the possible PPT up for grabs. I’ll dutifully check the scores at that time for a few days/nights and see if it happens.
Tell me that there is any gap, consistently, is lacking for longer than an hour.
And for the last time, Ancient History has nothing to do with it. I like a lot of people on BG but so many forum warriors trying to make it sound like BG does not have a numbers/coverage advantage (at the moment) will make anyone with a brain call BS.
For clarification, there is no implication that BG swarms WvW with impunity. I’m sure that even in times of lower coverage, there are fights to be had and JQ or SoR will often have the advantage in numbers during individual encounters.
I’m not trying to take anything away from good fights and victories that BG (or any server) earns in those situations. What I’m stating, born out by the facts: is that if you compared the numbers/coverage of the WvW dedicated (meaning folks that WvW more than 75% of the time) population of all three T2 servers (TC, FA, and SoS) put them on a theoretical empty server and put them into T1; that BG would STILL outnumber/outcoverage that server overall.
And that BG would recruit heavily to match any time discrepancies in said matchup is also not in doubt.
If BG is ticking higher than other servers, it is because they don’t care about PPT, as they have expressed so many times. BG, however still does, even if it is random commanders leading all our PUGs. Personally, I don’t care for PPT much either. Been duo roaming mostly these days. SoR has many guilds which run tagless looking for fights and do nothing for the server’s PPT, so don’t blame us for losing PPT-wise when they are not even making an attempt.
Translation
BG has ppl to roam and guilds to grind PPT.
Other servers have ppl to roam or grind ppt.
In conclusion…BG has more types ppl.
I edited that for you.
Ah, I didn’t realize it but it makes sense. Special Princess Blackgate just happens to have the only people that care about PPT while the other 23 servers are out of luck.
Higher tier players have more ranks. ArenaNet literally pays people to play on higher tiers. This would just make it worse.
Just make crafting cheaper. Like, seriously. How many hundreds of gold pieces is it to build one set of armour? That loot is so important to playing WvW (thanks to all the gold sinks) is so stupid. People don’t log in for WvW ‘cause they have to go farm some thing, ’cause they need runes you can only get in dungeons, or only log in because they want to ride a karma train. That’s bad.
WvW is PvE in the MMO sense. You’re looking at what the actual letters stand for. PVP = Player vs. Player, PVE = Player vs Environment etc. But in the broad scope of MMO’s WvW would be PvE cuz it’s not PvP in the PvP sense of MMO’s. If you don’t understand that then sorry. If you don’t like the term then call it WvW which is what it is. Not PvE in the classic sense and not PvP in the PvP sense. It’s separate from those two terms so just call it WvW.
This doesn’t make any sense.
If you’re competing against players, you’re doin playing player versus player. WvW is competing against players.
Whether that means that it should be integrated with the other player versus player mode or the non-player versus player modes then I would say ArenaNet is trying to build a game where you are the same character with much the same things no matter where you go (even though their original vision might have been different, they seem to be pushing that way). Some continuity between modes probably helps immersion and makes things less complicated.
Makes sense, I think. Though what I would like is for WvW to have no equipment grind, like sPvP. PvE would be better if it was like that too. Guild Wars 1, why were you so good?
I remember Devon saying they were going to remove waypoints and it still seems like a really great idea to me.
Reading the map to see where enemies are, cutting off reinforcements, creating diversions, all of these things are PvP that’s on a different level (not a better or worse level, just different) than just straight out combat (it’s more server versus server than guild versus guild). I think it’s a fun level and I would like to see it continue to be relevant. It definitely makes small group stuff more fun as it gives you valuable roles.
I would be ok with very different WvW, as long as it rewards players appropriately for playing in a fun way.
That said, WvW is about avoiding combat as much as possible right now, so I don’t feel removing them will introduce much change beyond walking further.
I highly disagree with the last statement. You can have all sorts of objectives. Some are served by not fighting (especially an uneven fight) but others are just as well served by bringing fights.
Making people walk farther means a big group can’t be as reactive and as mobile, hopefully splitting them up to defend things. I don’t know if that’s what would happen but I like to think WvW fought on more fronts would be a more interesting WvW.
As a cleric dude, not sure how much I’d like to drop my toughness for precision..
hurting the lower ranked servers that could use the lighter transfer costs.
Transfer cost isn’t the only reason why those servers don’t get transfers.
It would be a start. A signal, that after 17 months of launching the game, they’re even stopping to do the most basic thing to address the biggest threat to WvW’s health. The transfer costs are a joke. It’s the sort you’d laugh at because you wanted to cry ’cept it never ends.

“I read the original post of this thread”
The only one that drives me nuts is thief. It’s tough to down a thief that is spending most of their time in stealth and in a small group fight they are next to impossible to stomp. I swear I’ve had fights where the thief teleports, uncloaks, I immediately run over to him, and he teleports again before I can stomp him.
On the other hand, I don’t think engineer has a #2 skill.
I remember Devon saying they were going to remove waypoints and it still seems like a really great idea to me.

Try the autoattack on the warrior hammer. It’s like light speed.
I had to put my seatbelt on.
New servers? The game needs server merges if anything.
Don’t be ridiculous.
He has a point, WvW would be much healthier if they merged the bottom 2 tiers at least. It would go a long way to helping posts such as Kaineng is dead etc.
Not a day goes by without someone complaining in the lower tiers about a lack of action and players, honestly they made it this far without server merges is a miracle in itself, most games don’t make it 6 months without mergers.
The complaints come from the fact that people transfer off. Server merging wouldn’t change anything because people always are transferring up (just like they transfer up from Dragonbrand), not because they’re in the lower tiers but because the game incentives reward you for moving up. Merging servers won’t do anything (nevermind the PvE populations, which can fill the maps pretty good if they wanted to).
Besides that, we actually do like having smaller scale fights and no one complains about a lack of players like tier 1 (maybe merge ranks 1&6, 2&5, 3&4 to help you guys get better coverage).
