Enjoy.

And? That’s just how it is. You want damage, that’s what you have to do. You will never get decent damage on ranged weapons, it’s against what A-Net wants.
While you are correct, that’s pretty kitten sad.
I’ve never been a fan of their design philosophy.

If you want to make silly claims, prove them. Instead you come on here and cry about it to no end, and then attack anyone who doesn’t agree with you. People have discussed counters but you ignore them.
The only argument you have is ’I’ve played more than you! so I know better!’
I just cannot stop laughing.I never said that lol. I don’t know what’s more silly, a pve person talking about pvp matchups or me making a claim based off experience. Whether there is a counter or not it’s very slim and one build shouldn’t have to force someone to have to hard counter 1 specific guy on the team—at least on a tpvp queue (I’m not talking about tournaments where you know who you are facing). How do I know if this ranger runs spirits? Just in case? Nah, there should be some balances in that build or remove it totally. AIs are a cool concept but it’s not really competitive when their is no micro involved.
Probably because I’m not talking to you >_>
Either way, all this thread consists of is ‘I don’t want to change anything! Those rangers are the ones who should be changed!’
He would be better off just trying to counter it before complaining. I face other spirit rangers and they are a tough cookie, but it’s very satisfying to kill them because I changed the way I played.

The best thing you can do is change your build and tactics and go kill them. That build is faceroll, no one’s arguing against that but it’s not OP. The build is easy to run and people become overly comfortable.. they don’t notice the rug slipping out from under them when the spirits are dead and they are cc locked.

I don’t know how many matches you’ve been in where a premade dumps all over a shorthanded team, but since Anet has a dishonored punishment system coming I think it might give a hint of how lopsided those matches are.
What can you possibly contribute to this discussion with that little experience in pvp? Gifs and kitten comments based on no experience are a waste of yours and anyone else’s time who reads your ignorant garbage
This is why your thread is not getting taken seriously. You are getting emotionally involved. I thought I was doing you a by service letting you know.
Not only this, but I happen to play a ranger, and I’m sure that’s 40 or so more tourny’s on ranger that I’ve done than you, so I suppose you could say I have more experience with the topic at hand than you yourself do if you want to use such poor logic. Not that it matters of course, the number of tourney’s played doesn’t really mean anything, it’s just the only thing you have left to distract from your already poor argument.
While I may sit here and laugh at you for getting upset and making rather hilarious arguments, I’m not here to call you ignorant, or attack you for how many tourney’s you have done. You are here to make an argument (which isn’t getting taken seriously), I’m just here for the entertainment.

GENERAL SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT——-
If you haven’t been listening to Guang you are missing out. That dude has always been ahead of the power curve when it comes to understanding professions and squeezing the most damage out of them.
From what I have noticed, and no offence to this guy.. It appears he takes a million stabs in the dark and every so often it turns out one of the crazy things he has said turns out to be true and then you give him credit for it. Not that there’s anything wrong with that of course but he sure says alot of whack stuff that not only he cannot prove, but DNT has tested and cannot find viable either.

I enjoy the hotjoins simply because they are my option for farming solo all day. Load in, cap some points, pick off some idiots in the zerg, rinse/repeat, get rank quickly. I play solo and only concern myself with getting over 300 personal points per round. Can’t do that in tourney’s.. tourney’s are about actually winning the game, and sometimes that will become a detriment to your personal score because you cant just focus on doing whats best for yourself over whats best for the team. I’m all for getting rid of hotjoins because they are absolute garbo and filled with garbo players, but I would like to see a better rank/reward system in place. If you participate in a tourny, you really should get a decent amount of rank for your time. What would irritate me the most is, and what already happens to a degree… solo ques getting pitched against premades.. This should be split. I like your idea of consecutive wins= more rank.

I only ever use LB as a (defensive) utility weapon, and this new patch has just reaffirmed that. A knockback for trolling people off the edges of things and getting them out of your hair, an aoe to kitten them off in tight spaces and now a stealth to make a retreat if need be.. it’s the ranged version of the greatsword imo.
It still doesn’t make it even remotely good to have in a team. LB ranger with what build? Condition? Spirit? power? (giggles, not you but to the build of course)
And if you like knocking people off, get any other weapon set, and have a wolf instead. AoE fear OP
You can also “fake” cast that fear, to make the actually good players who watch the pet burn a dodge or 2. The retreat options is definitely decent, but it isn’t needed or good. it’s just something flashy they added to keep pve/wvw/casual players satisfied.
I use the fear as well :P usually what happens is I go and camp the skyhammer, someone comes up top and after a few knocks off the edge they wisen up and stand by the door, so I use the wolf to fear them out then LB knock them off the edge right after lol… that or swap to the drakehound and KD then immobi them over one of the transparent tiles. I find many times, the wolf’s fear is not long enough to get them running off the edge unless they stand quite close to it.
I certainly prefer GS, ( and even more so, Sword/WH) to LB, and I really only use it for trolling skyhammer and a few other places XD. I don’t use LB at all in tourneys, it’s just not a competitive weapon.
But yeh, my main point being, all I can really see their aim as being, is making it a defensive weapon that is weaker than your melee options in both damage and defensive capabilities simply because it has a ranged nature.

What DO you like about gw2 pvp?
I enjoy people getting angry. It’s a fascination for me.. It fixates me. People get so emotionally involved in the pvp that they start hurling insults and the such. I just want to make them do it some more.. It’s this phenomenon that I want to continue until I fully understand it. I find that the skyhammer map and some knockback and fear spamming is the best place for this, along with 1v3’s and picking out glass cannons in zerg hotfixes.. and also rated tourneys where people get really serious O_o.

Sometimes I want to do this.. but then I get right back on and stand outside the bank in lion’s arch for a couple hours and I forget about it.

I had a pretty good time with my own spirit build which includes longbow+ Sword/Warhorn setup.. It’s pretty funny.. especially in the skyhammer hotfixes.
Had a guy get rather angry at me so I knew I was doing something right. ;P

Appreciate the kind words, but know that the other devs would post more if they had time! Technically it’s more of my job, being a community coordinator, to communicate with you guys. When the designers and programmers post on here, it means they are going out of their way to talk to you. Try to give them a little more credit.
I know you guys would like to hear more from them, but they really need to spend their time implementing. The truth is that I should be communicating with you guys like this on a more regular basis, which is what I’m trying to do.
Is there a PvE community co-ordinator? I know PvE is a huge part of the game and it’s very diverse, but I feel like there is a black hole in terms of communication when it comes to PvE skill/trait/class balance. These things are covered heavily in the PvP forums because they are so central to PvP, but it seems like there isn’t much in the way of communication or participation when it comes to PvE.
Sure would love to see someone in the dungeon section every once in a while.. When you factor out all the screaming and complaining, crying and fist fights.. it’s tumbleweed town. Perhaps that’s why the CC’s don’t go there anymore :/

I just think it’s cute that we have this thread going concurrently with a thread that’s saying Necro’s have no survivability, death shroud is horrible, and that Necro’s, in order to be viable, need to start PvP with life force.

Engis have aoe that just destroys them from, what I have seen. Also noticing alot of these KD/KB spammers now.
Well, if we consider Teldo is the best engineer, than I can tell you engineers have problems with a spirit rangers.
There are many self named “top tier players”, which have absolutely no clue about class-mechanics and general skills. But hey, you don’t really need it to succeed.

Ah the joys of reading the entire sentence. Weapon skills sir. Weapon skills.
It’s okay though every ranger has to come to grips at some point or another, when they examine what they do compared to the others.
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xMrZxUdE8Y4/UOSxoFR1l0I/AAAAAAAAETY/W8cPrY9YOII/s1600/im-kittened.gif
Anyway, back to the point of the thread.
Spirits could stay channels, give a stronger AoE team support for about 6 to 10 seconds, but on a cooldown so that summoning a Spirit is a risk/reward situation instead of set and forget with traits that make it so that you don’t even really have to use the spirit to get benefit from it.
Everybody’s signets, I’m talking all classes, could provide stronger benefits on use and longer cooldowns.
All classes ought to have to use skills to remove conditions, and either increase cleansing or reduce the applications of necromancers who can put terror (yeah it is its own condition), bleeding, poison, torment, burning, weakness, chill, cripple, immobilize, and blinds on anybody. I’d go for the second not the first.
How about increasing Ranger Weapon damage and decreasing pets’ damage so that they Ranger actually accomplishes something with his weapons?
You can take a thread that’s blatantly obviously ranger discussion to the ranger forums. How about we discuss something like guardian passive boons or thiefs crazy passive initiative regen?
Whoah now let’s not talk about his precious thief!
|-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-|
Swiftpaw you made a kitten talking thread about me? How cute. I guess I’m getting right to the core of your insecurity in realizing that your class is entirely unable to contribute anything to a match without a series of crutches that are commonly known as Ranger mechanics.
Are you delusional? I did no such thing >_> how awkward.
