-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I play for the 26 silver at the end sadly. a million more dungeons later I might be able to afford a dusk precursor.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I spend a week or so dungeon farming my kitten off and someone waltzes into that labyrinth and gets what I earned in 10 minutes. Awesome.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
There was a special event? what was it? didn’t even hear about it -.-
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I don’t believe anyone here is asking for ‘easy mode.’ we are just saying it would make more sense for the dungeon to be solo-able so people don’t get in the way. That’s surely not going to hurt you is it?
Is the aim of the dungeon to overcome large people getting in your way? Wow sounds super fun. You did a good job, that’s what I’ll think about when I see your achievement sarcasm
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I think you’re underestimating just how many exotics dropped. The price of the Halloween skins plummeted during that period, and have now more than doubled in the hour or so since the patch.
Ah well another thing I get to miss out on. One day a hard working player such as myself who grinds the crap outta dungeons all day might actually stumble across some get-rich scheme too… One can only hope. lol.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
A small minority of players are “screaming.” And thats it. I see just as many people replying on these threads saying its fine the way it is. Besides, a few dozen people doth not a majority make.
Also, remember that people who are enjoying themselves are less likely to stop by the forum and say so, while people who are not will make a bee-line for it to grind their axes
Then you get those smug few who have completed it and say ‘I don’t know what you’re all talking about, this puzzle is fine, I love it blah blah blah.’
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Not gonna happen. Look at history in this game, every time there’s an exploit or something that’s too advantageous, they nerf it but those who were in on it to begin with are sitting at the top still. For example Precursors for legendaries or the Arah 5 minute farm.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
random exotics 76-78. It was a nice to have. Now everyone is leaving the areas lol.
I see, lol thanks ^^
thats not right. 76-80 items. got a guy in my guild who was farming those bosses since the beginning of act 2 and got 2x of the helloween skins (which you can purchase for 4 hours in LA) as exotic out of those chests. thats just not fair that a few people were able to make tons of exotics out of it and a few weren’t.
A few? I didn’t even know about it, now I don’t get any T_T
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I agree.
I’m going to retry this at some dead hour where I don’t have to worry about some hulky male charr taking up all my screen space in his COF gear. I am charr myself but at least I have the courtesy to take my gear off and try no to stand on anyone else at the start. -.-
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
So even with this bug, 3 of my party made it to the golems and killed those, then we get to the last boss and it’s even worse lol, silver adds spawning everywhere.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I don’t get what makes it so special that it needs a bag. It should just be coins added to your inventory unless I’m missing something behind the bag concept?
It makes you feel like you got a substantial reward.. and then trolls you. It is the spirit of GW2.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
This one time.. I got NINE COPPER. NINE!
I’m rich, bow down to me.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
one recommendation (looking at your build) to make it easier next time, take The Signet of Undeath Skill to res up to downed players quickly. Grats on completing him!
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I am actually having a similar issue on my guardian with leap of faith, not always just every so often, like 2% of the time lol, I’ll just get rooted in place after using the skill. Only recently mind you. Perhaps these issues have a similar cause.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
for my Asuran Warrior, going for TA then Arah.
At first I thought TA looked kinda “meh” but after trying out some dye combos, I found one that literally makes my character look like they are a skinless monster, kinda disturbingly sinister looking
He looks like he’s made of meat! my charr wants to eat you
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
i even tried the other paths lately only to get bugged out of 1 and 2 along with experiencing a strange issue with the dwyana preistess at 10% hp she went into perma invisibility and healed up 50% is that really how she is programmed…
I’m sorry to hear that, yes that sounds like a bug related to the patch applied for Halloween. At least it should be fixed soon, and know that if you try it again chances are it (hopefully) shouldn’t happen.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I’ve seen two exotics (that I was made aware of) while doing dungeons. And mine personally came from an AC chest during path two, right after the trap/gravelings part. It was amazing.
wow AC huh? you have some crazy RNG, grats.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
You got a precursor from a dungeon chest? who/what/where? Was unaware they dropped from dungeon chests. Which did you get?
It is all RNG. I personally have never seen an exotic drop from a chest in all my game time, but it can happen.
I do many many many (many) dungeons everyday and I have only ever seen one exotic drop which was Magmaton in CoF, but I was unaware you could actually get a precursor drop, would like to know which dungeon and which precursor he got.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Can you rephrase the post? I’m not sure if you’re being sarcastic or serious >_< Are you referring to the bugs in the arah paths atm?
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I liked dungeons from the first time I tried them, they are 90% of what I’ve done on this game. Got a precursor from a chest in one, leveled three characters to 80 through them, etc. So I already loved them. Then you added karma to them! I just wanted to say that’s a great step toward making dungeons even more fun and rewarding so thanks.
You got a precursor from a dungeon chest? who/what/where? Was unaware they dropped from dungeon chests. Which did you get?
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Was it just the one run that this happened? Ever since the halloween update that instance has been VERY buggy. Usually I have no problems with lupicus and did 3 runs today without issue on that boss. As for the other parts of the instance we had some strange things happen each runs, sometimes we got randomly teleported around the instance, or the npc glitched out and wouldnt move, or the door to the next area would not open. We would have to leave and start the instance all over again
The only times I have ever seen lupicus reset ( and this is talking waaay back) was randomly during his phase 3, if people ran too far from him in the circular room hes in. Usually this happened if everyone was downed and one person was kiting away meaning that no DPS was currently on the boss. The room is very big so it can happen quite easily. Other times it will be because everyone is on a downed player trying to res him and no one is dpsing the boss. When on my guardian I try to counter this by putting some burning on him and immobilizing him before going in to res someone and always watching him to make sure there’s at least one person attacking him.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I believe they are working on something to that effect, remember reading about it a while ago and they were tossing around ideas about what to do, but it’s definantly in the works. It’s more a question of When we’ll see it I think, probably not until after the Halloween stuff’s blown over.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I’m a necro so Arah is a must have.
I really like the staff from there too, think it would look great with the armour set for necro
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
When I have a mesmer in a dungeon party, I like when the ele conjures the fiery greatsword for them, certainly ups the DPS a bit and also helps in hitting those elusive burrows and some of the other annoying little things you cant hit unless you summon a meteor shower down on them.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
well i have AC set, Orrian set, TA Set and CoF set and enough tokens for every other set in the game.. but I find the others kinda ugly.. I hope they add more dungeons in expansions with some more interesting skins.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Working as intended, people were never supposed to kite Lupi to that waypoint to kill him.
Also, at least in my book, it seems that Lupi got way easier. Not sure, but either my last 4 PuGs had a really high damage output or Lupis HP got decreased.
Interesting notion, he does seem to die faster but I had just put it down to getting pugs who weren’t idiots. As soon as someone mentions kiting him to the waypoint I kick them.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
i heard path 2 is glitched
Yeh glitched twice for me today, then worked on the third try.
First try: First boss wouldnt turn red.
Second try: First door wouldn’t open, Scholar Yissa animation glitched and not moving.
Third run: at the end the last boss was almost down and then everyone in party was teleported halfway across the map and had to run back lol, but we then returned to it and completed it.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Looks like Path 2 is also bugged. Yissa wont react to the boss.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I too am looking for a solid group for arah each day, got alotta skins I want. I am very experienced in this dungeon and am a lv 80 Guardian with Full exotics and traits including accessories. I have two setups, Tank set: AC set and DPS Set: CoF Set. My accessories are ruby Orichalcum (zerker).
My weapon setup:
Greatsword of Dragon’s Deep of Rage.
Secondary set: AC Scepter / AC focus.
Shouts build with stability and aegis for Lupicus.
I also have a lv 80 Ranger in Full TA set, conditions build,
corrupted Shortbow main wep. Although would prefer to go on Guardian.
I am available for all voice chat options and most times, day or night.
My guild focus on Path 3 so I am very much interested in doing the other paths each day. Please let me know in game if anyone has a slot open for those.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
The reason alot of these animals that are currently in game but are not pets is possibly because:
1.) In GW1 they had a limited number of pets to choose from because they wanted to save on people’s load times, ( not sure how relevant that is to GW2 as there isn’t as much instanced content)
2.) If you look closely at your pet they have unique animations for their F2 attacks and etc. I recall reading in the Collector’s edition book that they cut a fair few pets out due to wanting to have very refined attack animations on the ones remaining.
That being said, I REALLY hope with the next expansions they include some new pets! I would absolutely adore seeing some more of the GW1 pets like the Lion from Elona and the Crane from Cantha, and I really do crave a raptor and griffon pet too, I would have that raptor out 24/7!
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Once again completely missing the point, I’m not saying you CANT do the instance, I’m saying it’s not going to go as smoothly and so it makes sense for people to only take lvl 80’s if they are pressed for time. I am simply stating that there IS a difference, no matter how much you want there not to be. You play mesmer? Good for you. If a level 35 mesmer in full rares and a lvl 35 warrior in full rares both applied for my AC group which one would I take? The warrior. Hands down. That’s just how it is. If just the mesmer applied, I would still take them, but they will not be as effective at that level as a warrior. Nothing to do with HOW you play your class, at level 35, the Warrior is going to be of more use due to thier class support and DPS output.
Same thing for Arah, You got it done, good for you, no-ones taking that away from you buddy. But I assure you if your team was in full exotics you would have done it faster/more efficiently.
I’m not going to know who’s ‘better at playing thier class’ when I’m pugging people am I? Am I telepathic? No, So I’m going to take the person who’s class is more likely to be played properly. Same goes for level, I’m sure you’ve seen lower levels play their class better than people of a higher level, but is this common? No. And even if they are bad, their extra traits and gear will usually compensate. Call me an elitist all you like, but I’m getting my dungeons done and I will make logical choices to be more efficient.
Your attitude speaks volumes and completely proofs the issue that this entire topic is about. People with your attitude.
Luckily I see some people in this topic who are kind and helpful to the people in their community and hope to run into some of you while I do dungeons. I much prefer playing with nice and fun people. Makes the game far more enjoyable
As for ways to combat the issue of people with this bad attitude all I can suggest is what I said before, Keep a list of peoples names, take note of their contact info and avoid the bad ones like the plague. I’m fortunate to have a guild full of lovely people who love dungeons so I don’t really run into the problem of such people on a regular basis.
It might help if you are lower level is to go to Lion’s arch and specifically ask for people who haven’t done the dungeon before or who are of lower level. You’re more likely to run into like minded people that way.
*sigh * call it bad attitude all you like, I have illness that restricts the time I can play the game and be in a dungeon and so I have to choose the people I pug with in a logical manner. You can kitten and whine about how it’s unfair all you like but that’s how the game is, you cant change facts. I still take lowbies. So long as they have gear on them. I still take mesmers so long as they have gear on them. I still take people with bad gear, so long as I KNOW them. What I will NOT do is take a random person who I do not know who is in crap gear on a class that is harder to play than others. I am not telepathic, and when I am pressed for time, I will keep to probabilities. All I see from you is someone who hates anyone who has any criteria for who they take, no matter how much sense it makes.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
oh btw we took just under 30 minutes(and a combined 19 deaths by the warriors) to do this run with kholer, troll, spider and 3 graveling pulls entirely skipped. with my friends we clear path 1 in about the same time doing everything.
Oh for sure, I have the same problems with them. For some reason a warrior running all signets tends to not be great in dungeons, I prefer to take them with a group orientated build with shouts or what have you.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Class at that level also matters, You missed the key part of that sentence.
Yes, I DID just compare one of the hardest professions in a dungeon with one of the easiest. Because it DOES matter. You just helped prove my point, thankyou.
I don’t see how I helped proof your point. What I was saying is that you compared the hardest profession with the easiest but that that doesn’t mean that a lvl 35 Mesmer couldn’t perform well.
I was making the point of saying that you may need to learn to play your Mesmer more thoroughly as they have a more advanced profession understanding requirement than most other professions and that this might be why you found it so difficult rather than it being an issue of gear/level.
You used Arah for example, Well none of us were fully exotic geared when we did it. Some of my gear wasn’t even level 80. A guy in my team was even in worst gear. Yet we still did all 4 paths in 2 days time, first time completing them.
I’m reinforcing that it’s the player and the team that makes the difference not the gear, not the level, not the profession. Sure go ahead and don’t take lowbies with because of their gear which I feel is a weak excuse because it really is about how good the player is.
A few extra points in power or precision or whatever stat isn’t going to make the player good. I’ve seen some really bad level 80’s who are geared do terrible at lower level dungeons while I seen lower levels without perfect gear do 10 times better.
Like I said the whole ‘You must have this gear and this level’ is so nit picky and a selfish attitude. I’m not saying it doesn’t make a slight difference I’m just saying a slight difference isn’t enough of an excuse to act elitist and deny access to people who want to enjoy dungeons but get kicked out because of this attitude. It’s simply rude.
You wouldn’t deny access to your house party to anyone who doesn’t bring cake just because cake is nicer. Because the person who doesn’t bring the cake might contribute greatly to the party by being chatty and fun (Strange metaphor I know but cake is tasty!).
Nice to see we still have players with the same mindset as mine. Let’s go for a run together sometimes?
Feel free to add me in game

another day, another wonderful PUG.
Another Signet warrior huh? I feel your pain.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
2.) I took my level 35 Mesmer in with the full crafted set/accessories and weapons and let me tell you, it’s completely useless. Class at that level also matters, you went in with a Warrior. Warriors are one of the highest preferred classes in dungeons for a reason, especially in Arah.
I’m sorry but you base your opinion on your experience with a lvl 35 Mesmer? I play a Mesmer, They are the hardest profession to master in a dungeon. They are squishy and do mediocre damage until fully traited/geared and you have to know your profession inside out to do the best damage and survive. You can’t compare a lvl 35 Mesmer with any of the other professions in that context.
Mesmers are well known to be OP in PvP but terribly fidgety in PvE (Thus why many people would like to see a split of skills). I personally no longer have a problem with it (unless they keep nerfing our abilities even further). Mostly because I know my profession so well now and have done all the dungeons.
…That said, this does not mean that a lvl35 Mesmer can’t do well, Mesmer’s have many useful tricks up their sleeves and it’s all about adjusting to encounters before you enter them. I bring along all weapons I can use (which are a lot) and I often swap utility skills and sometimes even traits. There’s no reason why a lvl 35 couldn’t do as well as a lvl 80 even without perfect gear, but for a Mesmer it will be A LOT harder to make up for that difference.
You just compared the hardest profession for dungeons with one of the easiest, I don’t think it’s a very fair excuse to not bring lower levels with in dungeons. Especially not if you have at least two lvl 80’s in there or someone who knows what they’re doing.
Class at that level also matters, You missed the key part of that sentence.
Yes, I DID just compare one of the hardest professions in a dungeon with one of the easiest. Because it DOES matter. You just helped prove my point, thankyou.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
‘I’m hitting him for ridiculous amounts of damage and 5k hundred blades, and suddenly I’m no longer worried (my Guardian struggles to get the kind of damage my 35 warrior was putting o.’
Not sure what your guardian’s running if 5k hundred blades outdoes it. It would make sense if you were full support with like.. a staff? I might also add that DPS is not the whole picture in a dungeon, sure you can do 5k hundred blades all you like, but when your team is dead around you due to lack of support it doesn’t matter.
Also that doesn’t much change my opinion about taking lowbies in there because:
1.) I hardly ever find them in rare crafted sets, usually they are in kitten gear and wont say anything till they are in and doing kitten all.
2.) I took my level 35 Mesmer in with the full crafted set/accessories and weapons and let me tell you, it’s completely useless. Class at that level also matters, you went in with a Warrior. Warriors are one of the highest preferred classes in dungeons for a reason, especially in Arah.
3.) For those who say gear/class/traits doesn’t matter: Imagine now that you are doing Arah, and a ranger joins your group, he has no traits, is wearing blue gear and has a pig for a pet. Is he going to be making the same contribution to the group as a warrior in a rare/exotic crafted set? No. And it’s no different at lower levels either. 80’s get scaled down, but lvl 35’s do NOT get scaled up. A level 80 in exotics will get scaled down to a % of their gear and still have access to a full trait setup, a level 35 has access to whatever they have at the time and that’s it. They don’t get scaled up. Give it a go, get a group together of all level 35’s and all wear blue gear, see how far you get on path 3 of AC and how long it takes.
I’m not against taking lowbies, im just against taking them in regards to thier gear, traits and class.
Full crafted set? Fine, you can come. But to say that you somehow do the same/better than a lvl 80 in exotics with full traits? That lvl 80 must be terrible.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Was he at the jumping puzzle in WvW? there is a mystic fountain that can be used that grants stealth to any player/class for 4 minutes.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Don’t give them anymore bad ideas, please, I’m begging you.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Overlooked? I heard ranger is pretty OP, guess that’s why they aren’t in the patch notes at all.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Think of it like this- at least we didn’t get nerfed even MORE right? right? * rocks back and forth in chair maniacally. *
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
‘Lets just make the staff worse and then add a lame buff to the scepter, then they’ll HAVE to change! muhahahahhahahahahaha’ – Love the logic.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
If they are going to split guardian skills into Pvp and PvE version, perhaps they should do the same for mesmer. Nerfing the Mesmer Staff DPS, in Pve? Why? Just… why….. -_________-
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Try again in morning . :P. It’s ok guys, The event is GOING to happen! Just a question of when, which will be soon by the looks of it.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
They are clearly all ‘plant-sexuals.’
You people are all wrong!
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
’ Because of the complexity of such an animation I’m sure this will result in a further DPS decrease, ’< – This line was gold hahaha. Awesome post
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
When you have done a bazillion runs of everything, and you are now doing dungeons with a limited amount of time, I can understand why people don’t have the patience for lowbies with kitten gear. I advertise for high levels only for my groups to avoid awkward situations. I get called all sorts of mean names but it’s my group and no ones making anyone come. I’m happy to show people what to do, and I have patience, but when I’m pressed on time and have an illness that restricts how long I can be doing something, I just cannot risk taking low levels in dungeons.
In dungeons like Arah I have a few rules for my groups if I have to take a pug. If they haven’t been before- that’s fine, just listen to instructions and you’re good.. No gear though? ( anything under rare, lack of traits) kick. It’s a liability for everyone else involved.
There are situations when I will take lowbies- for example AC, If I feel I have enough DPS in the group and I have a few 80’s, and I have confidence in the lowbie I’ve added (eg. has some crafted gear on, seems to know what to do) then that’s fine, but as soon as someone becomes and issue and wont listen to instruction, they have to go.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
as a Guardian i run a build based around Empowering Might which is quite simply designed to buff the dmg of the whole party whilst bringing supportive utility skills.
Full Berserker gear, 6xStrength runes, traits are 0/15/20/30/5
Major traits are:
Signet Mastery
Purity, Retributive Armour
Superior Aria, Empowering Might, Pure of Voice
always run 3 shouts, Stand Your Ground, Hold the Line & Retreat, Renewed Focus elite because i hate the Tomes.use Greatsword/Scepter&Focus.
im not fond of going the same spec as just about every other guardian out there going full cleric Alturistic Healing build, plus i run dungeons with a guardian built this way anyhow, im there to dish out damage, remove conditons that also apply short boons and buff the party with high amounts of Might, especially if someone is giving me a Fury boon.
though you would probably be better off using Knights Gear for such a build, it’s up to you, personally im fine in Berserker the permanent Vigor from all my crits keeps me alive.
I absolutely agree with this setup, been running similar one myself. I have two sets, the AC set with the 6 piece bonus for Aegis grant to party on use of elite skill, and the CoF berserker set for damage/crit. I run the courage tome for low level instances if the team is lacking in HP, the Wrath tome for bursting down burrows on Path 3 AC and Renewed Focus for most other tasks, it is especially useful for Giganticus Lupicus when you don’t have the time or the range to stop and use a tome, it also gives you that 3 seconds invulnerability u can use if your stability is down and you are stuck in his gross green bubble. I very much wish other guardians did the same, good to see someone else doing it. Empowering Might is a must, an awesome trait. And utilizing your shouts and virtues is great for the party.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I kinda skimmed this. I just wanted to say, for me at least, I do dungeons for money because I simply cannot stand farming cursed shore. I already have 3 dungeon gear sets and more, dont need any more tokens just yet! Maybe I’m crazy but that’s how i do it XD
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I think the aim of having breakable armor in WvW is for that very reason. They want you to fear death, there has to be in their books, a punishment for being too brazen or reckless.
If my gear didn’t break, hell I’d be running into Zergs like a mad woman with my greatsword to hell with everyone, ima kill something!
Because there is no reason not to.
I’m guessing gear breaking is their way of deterring that sort of behavior and making the player slow down and think before acting.
I don’t really agree of course, I think that way pointing and running ALL the way across the map to get back is enough punishment for me, but that’s probably the reasoning behind it.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
