those looking for skins, don’t even bother doing any other levels but 48. At lower levels all you get is rings. I did a 48 yesterday after like a week of not doing fotm and got another fractal hammer
That couldn’t be further from the truth actually, from what I’ve seen 38 has just as much chance for a skin as 48 does. Over months and months of experience.
Something could however be said for leaving fotm for a week and then returning to do a 48 run.. I usually don’t get jack if I spam it back to back. If I then drop it and then come back after a week or so.. Surprise surprise fractal skin. May just be random luck or some sort of DR.

They are there, I believe there’s at least 2.

Nope.

Dont forget, the customer/viewer is always right
That’s just a lousy way of saying you’re entitled no matter what.
As for the argument at hand here, they could discuss a setting for character models. I’m actually kind of surprised they don’t even want to discuss it, it’s just ‘No, not happening.’

Who? What?
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Give players the option to convert all character models to the same basic model on their screen. This way they can be happy, and the people who want to play asuras can be happy too.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Like the title says, this is ridiculous. We must have tried this over 100 times now, please nerf this even if just on the last day so we can get it.
I like a challenge but this is way too over the top from the amount of mobs and their HP.
Looks pretty doable to me from where I’m dead at.
The best part is that the image is completely censored… He doesn’t even want to show you what class he used. Looks like he only just made it too >_>
Anyways, what I did-
Take a glass cannon ranger with longbow/sword/warhorn setup. Take a bar full of CC’s ( muddy terrain, sylvari root skill, entangle, and I just pop quickening zephire in), use immobi pets.. I took spiders for ranged immobi, the wolves also work for KD’s. Obviously start by camping the spawn point.. Ignore the mortars with the grenadiers that spawn on them, they don’t hit you unless you are a long way away from them. Spike the plunderers down as they spawn. If you miss one, let it run and then get it on its way back and be sure not to over extend or you will pull excess mobs that you don’t want. If one gets close to finishing, knock it back with point blank shot and then immobi it. I have heard peopole also have had success solo with glass warrior with killshot and some other skills.

There used to be a Gasm glory farm server too, not sure where that went T_T

I don’t even know what to say anymore.
It’s ok… just think of puppies.
Do… Do the puppies have.. Healing power gear? *spasm *
Thanks to you I always die at Jade Maw because Guardians refuse to heal me.
O_O They are just being smarmy kittens! This has nothing to do with me! Nothing!

The people that park their cars illegally are far worse than the people that call them in. Jerks need to stop hogging up street space and blocking peoples’ driveways.
This is why there is no faith left in humanity.
You have no faith in humanity because people care about enforcing rules that make perfect sense? If anything, your post should give ME more reason to have less faith in humanity.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
There’s another way to do this which involves everyone meleeing and no ranged shenanigans ;D
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
…The builds are there, the gear is there, the classes are there – fix the content.
Wont happen.
I get why people are being so snarky about running a healing build. Honestly, what some people seem to be missing is that the status quo can and should change. What I’m hearing is that nobody (at least in this thread) is up for the free exchange of ideas on how to fix the problem. Instead of saying “zerker for life!”, there should be a tacit agreement that something is wrong with having one effective build to run in a game that allows for specialization outside of that build.
Everyone has done a good job at making the point everyone already knows, the fastest dungeon clear is skewed heavily toward optimizing damage and little else. Everyone will keep running zerker builds up until the day Anet changes the efficacy of doing so. If/when that day comes, the smart people will suck it up and play a different way. Until then, I support anyone who wants to run a healing build as it has a niche outside of the speed clear arena.
Edit: I mean, when I say one build, even conditions “should” count toward optimizing damage but even then you hit a brick wall with the condition cap. Somethin’ gotta change.
I don’t think anyone’s saying zerker for lyfe.. we just don’t understand the healing power build even in a ‘niche situation’ >_>

A good ranger will be the last man standing (only mesmer could probably beat that) and he’ll rez the rest most of the time
Why are you optimising for failure?
That must be what happens most of the time.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
If you only care about rank points? I used to consistently rank top score or second top in hotfixes.. my method is to focus on capping, ignore large zergs, use map advantages like the sky hammer or cannon, always to kill treb after ur first cap then back cap enemy’s home point, always be first to chieftain/svanir on second spawn, always grab ferocities/ tranq if uncontested. 1v1, kill them fast, 1v2, kill them fast or run to your next point. If someone gets in your way between running to cap, pull them to the next cap point and kill them there. Don’t waste time on killing bunkers. I treat hotfixes like I am on my own, the teams are either trash or decent, I ignore them and focus only on my personal score. Team winning the game is for tournaments and that’s a whole different game where it actually matters if win/loss.
Tl/DR.. Hot fixes are an awful mess. It’s every man for himself.

Most people are sheep, they’ll accept what they’re told and not give it any second thought.
They better hurry up and start running this. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/guardian/Dungeon-Leeching-build/first#post2505641
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
If a boss does 5000 damage per second to your party, every second you add to the fight by doing less damage is you adding another 5000 damage that your party has to avoid or heal through. Every second you shave off by doing more damage is 5000 HP you’ve provided to your party.
Kill speed is the best damage mitigation in the game, no team healing comes close.
This obviously isn’t by design though. If something isn’t working as intended since launch it deserves a little bit of attention. Efficiency and game design are often conflicting concepts but this is getting ridiculous. The builds are there, the gear is there, the classes are there – fix the content.
Wont happen.

Thanks but I am just standing on the shoulders of giants. I would never have believed how powerful of a leeching weapon the staff is if there were no kind souls to show me the way.

-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Don’t waste time with clerics at high end fotm, run zerker, make sure u have spotter trait and frost spirit/stone spirit w/ 70% proc rate trait, rest up to you. Weapon sets should include 1h sword ( make sure you have auto attack turned off) /warhorn, longbow /sb at the very least. Your most powerful utilities include entangle and muddy terrain. These two do not need any traits in traps, the aoe immobi is excellent for places like dredge and fire shaman, along with ascalon.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
How the heck do you hit 16-18k with whirlwind…? Please show a picture or something… Its rare for me to hit 7k and I get exotics 10x more often than hitting 10k…
I’ve also done it, It’s achieved with complete maxed zerk stats/ascend access, scholar runes, 25 stacks might 25 stacks vauln on target, 10+ damage mod on greatsword + traits. Eg. undead for alpha or sigil of night. I run with perception for crit, others run with bloodlust for power mod.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
My ranger has the exact same look, including the bow :P. She’s dyed celestial entirely.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Since it’s only in hotfix and the only thing that really matters in hotfix is personal points… doesn’t really bother me. Also very fun map using the trollhammer and waiting for the opposition team to react like a kicked ant’s nest and race up to clear the hammer, only to be punted off the edge one by one by fears and point blank shots.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
2 part problem-
-Boss mechanics are predictable and boring. When the whole or the majority of a fight relies heavily on reflects as a counter, that’s not very creative or fun.
-It’s not that some classes are Over Powered. It’s that other classes are Under powered.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Well, if I’m understanding this correctly, wouldn’t MORE support/control also lead to that conclusion?
Pretty much ^
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Not sure if this has already been said but.. The skins in the pvp locker..( Phoenex, braham’s, etc). I’m assuming they will be cash shop items at some time in the future? Any ETA on those? Already got my gems lined up because they look awesome

Can’t you Fear them against corner or something? That at least sounds useful to me.
http://youtu.be/_KhPMi1GIc4?t=4m20s
Video evidence of this happening.
Also nice thread OP. I’m a huge advocate of being open minded.
That’s a great example of a properly used fear.
don’t you worry, I’ve got your back on this one
Gotta just sit back and relax, Brazil’s got the bear pet to watch over you. No worries m8.

Open your inventory
double click warhorm
use swiftness skill
double slick dagger
close inventorySkill/equip swapping is not locked in hotjoin.

Why advocate substandard play…
I’m sorry but I just could not take either of those videos seriously.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Hello there Gnat,
I’ve been playing support Guardian build ever since release, tunning it slighty over the months, until the point I felt like it works everywhere. People say you can’t be dedicated healer in dungeons, but it’s not true. You can, and you can do it very well.
Of course those who say that full berserk sets work even better might be correct, but not every group is full of pro players who know all the mechanics in the game, and know what to dodge. And in these groups, a healing Guardian can be very handy.
I usually run with 4 berserk warriors though, so they make up for all the damage I’m lacking, while I maintain their health, boons and Might on desirable level, as well as can add 10s of Quickness on bosses. Most of the time warriors don’t even need to dodge anything, cos they get stability, aegis, protection and regen, as well as direct heals at right moment.
Here is link to the build I run:
0 0 30 30 10,
50% boon duration without cons,
shouts removing conditions,
up to 1800 healing power with Mace and Sigil of life,
Endless energy regen with the sigils of Energy+Stamina and vigor (fury from warriors helps with vigor)Depending on encounter, one or two shouts are switched with consecrations like Hallowed Ground, Wall of Reflection, Sanctuary and in some particular dungeons/fractals Spirit Shield.
I played a lot in GW1 as Imbagon, and that’s exactly what I wanted to achieve in GW2. I think I succeeded, even though most players want to leave when they see a guardian with staff and mace, after one run with me they end up asking about my build. So I don’t think it’s that bad really, it’s just against the belief of “healing power scales bad” and “you can’t heal lol” and “play berserk, kk?”.
I’m trying to prepare extensive guide with videos on the gameplay with this build, so far got only two videos, TAkittenpath and CoE p2. You can check them here:
CoE:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwGTvLbPHIQTA:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5drmLuDu9GsIt’s really weird for me when I see berserk guardians. If I want to do it berserk way, I play my warrior. If I want to play guardian, I like to dedicate myself to be best supporter you can get, even though my damage is crap.
I don’t even know what to say anymore.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
And what is this now about “Oh Ranger is spam 1 with autoattack that doesn’t sound hard.” Do people just complain about this with every single class now?
Can see your bar in the video all you do is spam 1 (in the final boss fight) and no people don’t complain about that on every class. Ever seen a warrior complain about it? thief? Engineer…highly doubtful.
Skill has nothing to do with it. Did you do good damage? yes, then your goal was achieved. You hit one button and managed it, not your fault ranger is simple in pve.
This may come as a newsflash to you, but playing a warrior or even guardian is easier than glass cannon ranger in pve.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I gave up on this thread when he called people who don’t share the same opinion as him ‘close minded’.. Well I laughed for a bit then I stopped reading because I knew eventually my laughter would die and I would feel dead inside.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
… We really are an impatient lot.
YOU DON’T KNOW ME YOU DON’T KNOW MY LIFE
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Yep, this annoys me too -.-
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Ranger with 2 bear pets running ranged only weapons and non-zerker gear = kick.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
But does that make the staff a bad weapon? I think it’s excellent. Especially if you are running a Fear build.
Please tell me you’re not using fear on groups of mobs.
That is a situational thing. Incoming mobs that attack the party head on can be perfectly kept busy with a spectral wall, which they mindless charge into.
And if too many enemies go after me, a fear can be helpful to clear the area. But no, I’m not the kind of necro that constantly fears whole mobs away while the rest of the team is trying to hit them.
But why this elitist attitude against other classes in general? Are warriors and guardians really the only way you folks want to play?
Ah here we go. It’s time to play the ’ you’re an elitist scumbag’ card. My personal favorite.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
templates for the love of dwayna.. give us templates O_O
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Next up, the benefits of a minion master in dungeons!
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Noticed my pet f2 are more buggy/not working when hit first time more than usual. Maybe just me >_>
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
If I kill you, I’m a good player, however, if you kill me, your class is OP.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I feel the devs are quite passionate about their game, the reasons for all the screw ups may be derived from somewhere else.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I’ve seen plenty of warriors and guardians charge into that final mob at Urban Battlegrounds, and get absolutely decimated, while the softer ranged classes take out the mobs before they are even close enough to do any real harm.
They died because you were being lazy, camping behind them and not supporting them.
I would like to add, that line of warding and ring of warding should be used so that no one takes any melee damage >_>
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Mesmer mantra build is quite effective, actually. I play a guardian and ele as well but neither can keep up with how much healing my mantras do. 2k per cast and mantra of pain is almost always up.
Only problem is you have to be relatively close.
people have already outlined the other problem
in doing less damage you’re letting the party take more damage
Had a ‘healing power’ mesmer at fotm 48 once, along with his pvt warrior friend.. It felt like I was having my fingernails removed it was so painful and slow.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
There are no misconceptions about the skill level of Ranger in this meta. They are not skilled players to do what they do. Necromancers, similarly, are not skilled to play well in this meta.
All you do is rotate, drool on your opponents, and collect your chest.
You do a great job of sounding just like the guy in the screenshot, bravo!
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
ok longbow… on skyhammer which is a great representation of skill.
I run it for all maps :P
This guy was just a great demonstration of the misconceptions
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
You run shortbow…
LMAO
I actually run longbow and sword/warhorn, I thought that was clear when the guy mentioned point blank shot >_> no one runs both lb and sb at the same time :/
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
