Nearly everything the OP has said is wrong.
Necromancer
1) Necros can’t inflict torment or confusion at range. They have extremely limited access to burning, and Epidemic has an extremely delayed cast time, a shrinking window that scales inversely with effectiveness, and only works against bunches of players who all have their own individual cleanse.
2)Necros don’t have easy access to 8+ seconds of fear. In order to pull that off, a dedicated terror build needs to blow every fear cooldown consecutively, and if the opponent uses stability or a stun break at the right time their whole chain and their active defense melts.1)Necros only have permanent weakness if you fight them at point blank range, and if they continually hit both the short range Weakening Shroud and the slow to cast enfeebling blood.
2)Death Shroud greatly limits the class.
3)Plague doesn’t do anything but squat on a point for 30 seconds. A plague necro kills no one.Engineer
1)Perma burning can eat 6K HP… in 10 seconds. Then again, power classes can hit for that much in 1/4th of a second, so this is hardly overpowered.
2)Burning at high malice is only about as effective as 6 bleeds.
3)Engineers only have permanent poison if you camp inside of their tiny poison fields and take it up. It is extremely hard to apply permanent poison as an engineer.
4)Engineers don’t have a lot of confusion. They have a skill that applies 2 stacks, the bomb skill that requires melee range, has a long delay, and a short area that is completely useless without investing in stats, and the Prybar which is much better but alas is a melee weapon locked behind a utility kit that does crap for damage otherwise.
5)Grenades and bombs are the hardest to use AoEs in the game, with their slow flight, delayed activation, wide spread that loses damage quickly.1)Engineers don’t have permanent protection. At all. They have RNG based shotty protection and proc based protection that barely handles their weaknesses.
2)Their self rez is incredibly slow, and they can be knocked out the rez bubble, and it is pretty easy to out DPS their heal if you aren’t a condition damage.
3)Nearly everyone has permanent vigor. The difference being that engineers require two or more traits to get it.Rangers
1)Unless you sit like a lump, ranger pets will spend most of their time chasing you and doing very little.
2)Rangers can only inflict a lot of bleeding if they blow all of their cooldowns, or if you turn your back on them and they snip you over and over again.
2)Rangers only have permanent poison if you sit right in their face, and if they’re using very specific weapon skills.
3)Rangers also have restrained access to burning. Their spirits can be killed to prevent burning, you have to loiter in their traps to take burning damage, and torch 4 has a similar problem. The only skill they have that inflicts reliable burning is torch 5, which is less than 50% duration by default.1)Rangers only have permanent protection if you don’t kill their stone spirit.
2)If you stop or stun their pet they lose their rez, and you can likely outdamage it anyway.
3)Their weapon skill dodges root them heavily, limiting mobility and the defensive value of their dodges.
4)Unless you sit like a lump, ranger pets will spend most of their time chasing you and doing very little.A list of one sided complaints that doesn’t weigh the weaknesses of each of the classes.
+1 Pretty much

I’d almost be kitten ed off if they were ever worth using to begin with
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I’m not disappointed.. Just bored again. Waiting for the new fractal I guess.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Even the devs don’t run the unpopular paths.
yeh, just the unpopular builds.. Dat signet warrior so OP.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I always predicted that it would be intended because knowing A-net they cant just give us something without taking something away.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Even with an optimized group its still long, even if its not hard (That’s what she said >_>). I think a better reward would be good there simply because it’s more time input either way. I’m still not motivated to do that path.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
You can win almost any kitten measuring contest and make legendary-wielders feel as common as dirt just by mentioning you have fractal personal level 80/having done volcanic shaman 79 multiple times.
Oh and btw I have fractal personal 80 and have done shaman 79 multiple times.
Honest question. Do you think anyone cares or is impressed that you have a fractal level of 80? Is that why you did it? The bragging rights?
Back to the OP. I guess if you want a challenge, Fractals at high levels requires more precision play than the rest of the game. If that’s what you want, go for it. Don’t expect any exciting rewards as a result.
I’m actually pretty impressed. May as well throw my legendaries away now, this guy has me beat.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
To induce rage.
As someone I know so accurately put:
“Don’t do fractals if you’re in a bad mood, in fact don’t even do fractals if you’re in a good mood, because it’ll put you in a bad mood”
>:( When I feel like getting angry and cant think of a reason to be angry… I pug fractals and ask for magic finders healing power and pvt geared in the advertisement.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
We need one that summons mass amounts of Pets
I would like to summon 100x Mr Bojangles the cat.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
The point of fractals is to give the illusion of content by making you do the same thing over and over for rng.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
So you finally married brazil?
Nah, he wants the T.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Ok ima leave a tip here. Run a full melee ranger, you will feel better. Put a zerker set on, run spotter and 70% spirit buff trait with frost spirit, sic em ( or stone spirit) and QZ, use a sword/warhorn and take the attoattack off. It’s a bit wonky but you’ll adapt.. Then you will see ranger is (yes) still bad but much better than you thought.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Oh swifty, DnT?
Yes. DnT are really nice to me
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
They really need to fix the search function of the forum
They also need a dev to address a problem that’s come up multiple times in this forum.
The devs don’t come here anymore. They haven’t for quite some time.
With threads like these, I almost understand why sometimes. We have like 15 of the same thread now -.-
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
What’s wrong with wanting the dynamic world we were promised? The artificial world of instance dungeons is just that artificial. I have no problem with them being in the game but I like my social aspect of the game to be with people actually playing the game not segregating themselves into an instance and calling it social.
Ah you mean segregating themselves in an instance with 4 other people who they are then forced to communicate and cooperate with… Yeh, not very social at all.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Tier 1: Warrior, Ranger, Guardian, Thief
Tier 2: Mesmer, Elementalist
Tier 3: Engineer, NecromancerBerserker ele and necro outdps guardians and thieves by a ton were talking as much as 2x their dps. Thieves hit hard but their cleaving damage with sword is not that strong pistolwhip got overnerfed.
Actually, you’ll find that they don’t.
Give me that necro build yo >_>
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I miss dungeon books from GW1. Those would be cool to have.
yes please T_T

To quote someone I saw in a thread a while ago:
You guys made this thread to just go “hey look at me iamsofame”
Even the music sucked.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I do not think they should force people to do something they don’t want to.
Indeed, no one is forcing anyone to play the game.
If someone don’t have fun playing this game, he can leave. There is a difference between constructive critics and qq about every crap.
Yes. If you feel like the game is ‘forcing’ you to do things, then play something else. Nobody cares about the QQ on here.
The OP is annoyed that he cannot get people for story modes. I am suggesting that instead of making it mandatory for people to do it, they should just give it better rewards. Because once everyone has done it once, he’ll still be in the same boat, needing people to do it with him who don’t need it and have no motivation to go again.
Yes, there really is a difference between constructive (criticism? I prefer conversation) and the everyday Q_Q about Swiftpaw saying things people don’t like.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-

-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Why do precursor drops always reward the terrible players <__<
Because they will never be able to make them into Legendaries
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I do not think they should force people to do something they don’t want to. I believe it should just give better rewards so that people actually want to do it.

daily pug story time:

-mesmer GS 5’s them away
-necro feared some more away

I love reading these stories before bed ^-^ Now I can sleep tonight ensured that pugs know how to play with larger symbols in mind.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Still full melee.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Sure-shot Samus
And that’s GG. You really gave yourself away with that one.
To everyone else, just ignore his remarks.
I really am serious about all of these bosses. Including Samus, who isn’t a very tough boss, but he lacks clear tells.
The Iron Forgeman does have good tells. Unfortunately his mechanics are so simple, that he doesn’t really present any sort of a challenge. But if he hits you with that beam attack, then it really is entirely your own fault.
This shows that Anet does know how to make proper boss tells. But some of the bosses were probably rushed.
No. I think I’ll ignore yours.

I have a question about the changes to magic find since i dont know if they will remove the armor/items or simply change magic find into another stat. I would like to know becouse in my case i have magic find armor transmuted into primeval armor skin and i really dont want to lose my favourite skin. If they will just delete it im thinking of getting transmutation stones to change it into something else but i really dont have a lot of gold just lying around. I would like to know what i should do to not lose the skin. Hope someone lends me a hand
I HIGHLY doubt they will just flat out delete people’s armor. Nobody knows what they’ll do just yet so I’d just say wait and stay tuned for more updates.
I hope they do though.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I’m done. I am trolled.
We’ve all been there. And it’s not trolling. It is genuine. Some people really are genuine. Sometimes I just sit back and I stare at the ceiling and I wonder how people on these forums are in real life.. Who employs them? How do they function day to day? Do they have a family? What do they do when they are not playing the game or on the forums?
I just go over and over all the little details and possibilities that could make up that person’s life and try to comprehend why they say the things they do.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
No, you could not. Are you talking about PvE, or PvP?
PVE
I’m talking from a HM PvE standpoint, because it’s relative to GW2 PvE.
I’ve played a ton of PVE HM.
Sometimes I swear you don’t actually play GW2, nor did you play GW1. You could not look at a Stygian Lord in DoA and know what profession it was.
Yes you could. And any of the old GW1 players in my guild would disagree with you.
You could not look at a Dream Rider in UW and know it was a Mesmer.
It’s a DREAM-rider. “DREAM”. If that doesn’t clue you in that it is a mesmer, then you should not be in the Underworld.
GW1 was far more punishing, and based on trial and error than GW2 is.
Hardly, except for some of the elite areas, those were badly designed overall.
Tell me how you REACTED to an interrupt in HM PvE, and countered it. Not preemptively countered, you reacted to it. I completed HM UW in 17 minutes post-dhuum. DoA in 18 minutes, I think I have a pretty solid understanding of the areas.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/thumb/8/85/Stygian_Lord.jpg/150px-Stygian_Lord.jpg
Is this the Mesmer lord, Ele lord, Necro lord, Monk lord, or a Heart tormentor? Or perhaps even a Word of Madness?
Spoiler Alert: They all have the exact same model and in terms of the lords, they all have the same name ‘Stygian Lord’. Again, supporting my claim that you didn’t even play GW1. (the WoM and Heart Tormentor had a different scale, but the same model)
You need to stop responding, he’s not worth it. He’s just not… The things he says are so kitten awful… They just… I cant even… You wont change his mind ok? You just wont. He’s too deep into it. All there is left to do is /facedesk.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Why are people so angry about this video.. >_>
It’s a good video, I enjoyed the full melee part the most.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
So I’ve been playing spirit Ranger recently to see how good they are, and it is actually a lot of fun. One thing that bothers me however is that the spirits start their cool down once you summon them, meaning enemies have very little incentive to kill spirits as they will likely be ready to summon again anyway, also with the trait Nature’s Revenge they will even be punished for doing so. The only spirit worth killing is the Elite one, for obvious reasons. Having nearly 100% up time on my utility spirits just feels unfair honestly, and that’s probably why the build is so strong right now. I suggest the cool down should be lowered to about 45 seconds, but only starts after the spirits die.
It seems like a bug that they recharge when you summon them. This isnt how minions work. So yeh, fix this bug please.
Okay I have to take back my words, it currently doesn’t reset the recharge when they die, but I’m almost 200% sure that they USED to because I remember having a lengthy discussion about them with Deku God, and that’s how he had explained it to me, of course this comversation was 2 patches ago.
Yeh. Spirit ranger is the most op thing in the game by far. It is also completely lame. You just put the things up. Dont even need to use utilities and yet have the best build in game? Seems legit.
And there I was thinking necros.. Do we alternate between what to cry about each day?
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Ah yes, good old fashioned rivalry.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I have a zerker warri for CoF, as well as CoE.. and everything else actually. why would I switch my gear? my zerker guard, mesmer, ranger, engi and thief are fine with it as well (only necro is rabid). only my zerker thor-ele struggles a bit, he feels too squishy and wants some of his knights pieces back (unfortunately transmuted my caudacus stuff and lost the stats of the old gear).
My guild even forbids zerker players in their so called organized raids, because no pro would ever wear zerker (which is why I have to ress those perfect PVT players constantly).
No problem with zerkers :P, most people here prefer zerker players. The problem lies in the people who only know how to run zerker in one dungeon- easy mode CoF. They will be in for a rude shock in the other dungeons and either die constantly or switch to kitten sets like pvt and get carried. >:( If your guild forbids zerker gear, that’s a good reason to leave.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I know what will happen here. They will switch to their shout healing/condi dmg/pvt tank builds and then kitten with us. Calling it right now.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
Congrats on soloing one of the easiest bosses in the game?
Sure its lv48, but still this boss is kind of a face-roll, as long as you don’t mess up and get hit by his agony it should go pretty smoothly no matter what, and being a guardian just makes this boss even easier to solo.
Swifty? Make sure you don’t loose your title again once colesy stopped posting!
OH WHAT THE HELL IS THIS? GET OUTTA HERE.
srsly, I go have a real life for like a day and this kitten happens.

-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I came across this little gem. He was running a lolzy cc lock build with hammer/longbow/stomp. Wasn’t very happy to see me it seems. I swapped in Lightning reflexes for a low cd on stunbreak, my other option is signet for insta immobi rem but I never let him get a pindown on me.

This thread makes me wish I was an octopus so I could slap 8 people at once.
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
I don’t read the forums often. But I am so confused about this thread
He is playing the way he wants!
-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-
1st, why are you using a bear? its a tank pet. Low dmg, little buffs. At least a moa gives Fury and whatnot.
2nd; Why are you not leaving it on passive, or stowing pets between combat? It takes you 1 keystroke to do either. Stowing is always safer.
3rd why are people immature for wanting you not in blues? Its like 2gold to get all rare at 80… I had almost all rare all the way lvling…
Quit feeding to the mentality that rangers are kittened. Break the mold. Be intelligent, play smart. Youll not get kicked then.
^ I agree, I would kick a ranger in trash gear too.
