Is it bad I get bummed when I don’t get a fractal skin for two weeks? Just about all the fract weapon skins I’ve gotten have been sub lvl 40 personal reward.
The fractal skins I’ve gotten: hammer, shield, longbow, shortbow, sword, axe, trident, scepter, and mace (twice). Got one malicious armor helm chest.
You know what’s funny? A guildie of mine with 2500 hours played pulled, literally, 6 precursors from the forge IN A WEEK. He’s pulled 7 total in the last month (and the total of his account). No. I’m not joking.
I think John Smith wasn’t lying when he said that the RNG is on a bell curve. Some people will be extreme outliers to either side. Some, like my guildie will be EXTREMELY lucky. Some, like another guildie of mine, will be EXTREMELY unlucky. Most of us will fall somewhere in the middle.

Ive never had a problem when ive joined with a character which didnt fit the description because i expect to be kicked within 20 seconds or less. If you just say “switching” most people will realise what you mean.
I put up a LFG for AC P1 and forgot to put in “LVL 80” in the description. Had a lvl 56 join. I waited for the “brt switching” but then they entered the dungeon on the low level. Kick. Then I changed the description to include LVL 80. Had a good quick run.
So, yeah, with the way the trait system is now the people I usually run with WILL NOT take a sub lvl 80 into dungeons unless it’s a Guildie and they are in the lvl 70+ area. We’ve all done these dungeons hundreds of times, we don’t want it taking any longer than it has to.
It’s threads like this why they got rid of the suggestion subforum.
Having to wait until SO FAR into my character’s career to have access to a full ability rotation just feels awful.
This is why I will never make another toon. Thank the Gods I got my toons to 80 before this awful NPE came into being. Maybe, if they give vet players a way to bypass all that crap, maybe I’ll make another toon. If they don’t, I’ll just be happy with what I have and never make a new toon.
The fact I can now get a total of 55 laurels from Dailies makes me happy about the change. Then after I’m done getting laurels I can get other things instead, great.
I’d like an expansion with new classes etc. The only thing I’ve enjoyed from Living Story so far was the Molten Facility dungeon. That was pretty much it.

Fractals are dead content? WTF? Me and my people do fractals all the time. I don’t give a flying f__ktard about Scarlet being in that Thermanuvavavava fractal for a few seconds. What we want is NEW fractal levels (please, Anet), NEW ways to earn fractal weapon skins (using XXX pristine fractal relics or XX,XXX fractal relics), NEW things to do with our fractal relics (like other ascended trinkets than rings).
Used to, pets use to grab aggro of EVERYTHING when they were on active. I mean, everything. It was a monumental P_I_T_A. Then, thankfully, they change it to pets don’t grab aggro until the Ranger grabbed it first, no matter what. It was a fantastic change and one I praised Anet for.
And I like that build Nausiation.1469 posted but I run 6/5/1/2/0 for that extra vigor. It makes a difference.
Better off bringing a dagger. Then you have 3 dodges avaible from your weapons, and your pet still gets dem boons!
I would if I liked using the dagger.. I just can’t bring myself to bring dagger over axe because of the vul stacks from axe #5 boosting team dps.
I only use five pets: reef or salamander and river drake, jungle stalker, or red moa. I use pets for blast finishers and buffs. That’s it….
I usually run Jaguar/snow leopard + Red Moa (swappable for another utility pet. Ie. wolf in PVP, fern wolf for more regen, etc) for my regular dungeon runs, for that balance of pet DPS and utility.
But from your high level Fractal perspective, pets’ usage is only pure utility due to the difficulty in keeping them alive? I’ve only go up to level 12 Fractal or so… haven’t entered another for a year. But I don’t mind some insight from you

Because of my work schedule I’m never able to build a solid fractal team. So, my wife and I usually pug it. She’s on her mes or guard, and I’m usually on my ranger or guard (if we are in a lvl 49 grawl, we’re both on guard). In my opinion, it’s more important to know the content. Pets going to end up dead. Might as well get a good blast finish out of them or group buff before they die.

If I put out a LFG, and a bearbow joins, I wait 10 seconds and if they don’t change weps and animal, I kick.
Anet people have said, countless times, they aren’t giving us perma-stow now matter if it’s 100% of the ranger population wants it. More likely we’ll get additional keybinds before they give the perma-stow option.
Like I said, let’s hope that the Ranger is petless in GW3.

Happy for you. I don’t pvp. I get no joy from it. So, tough kitten. So, what I need from a Ranger and what you need from a Ranger are two different animals (pun intended).
There needs to be keybinds for active/passive and stow/unstow.
But, John Sharp had said every single time it was brought up they will NOT add more controls because it will scare away the ultra-super-casual away from the class. Great, thanks Sharp. Thanks for making my experience more kitten so that super-ultra-mega-casual players will still play the ranger… Mind you they don’t have to actually USE the kitten keybinds.
Hopefully.. Now that Sharp is gone… Maybe we can get some more controls. But, I’m not holding my breath.
I find the short bow has its uses and is fine just the way it is. There are some fairly decent builds, especially true for pve, out there.
You obviously didn’t play the SB before the animation fix… If you did you weren’t paying any attention to the amount of damage the SB was doing before the animation “fix”.
Here’s what it boils down to:
1) If they aren’t going to let us option out of pets, we need much more control over pets… Uh, hello… Guard/Active still doesn’t have a keybind! That is a glaring problem.
2) AOE damage reduction in PVE on pets. Anywhere from 80-95%. Been to world boss Golem Mk II? Yeah, like that.
Really, those two things will go a long way to making them better in all game modes… Although I’m fairly certain PVE/WVW/PVP will have to have splits on #2. They are simply too different from each other in terms of needs.
Lol pets are really good, only thing we need is more freedom in using them as well as versatility. And a few tweaks on the AI.
In all honesty i wish we had three pets.
A good ranger also shows how good he handles his pet. Sevans and Shadowpass are my idols.
You must be a bearbow pew-pewing from afar. If you are melee, your pet will die. You can’t recall your pet if you are melee… it stays right there by you taking cleave or aoe.
If you want to play a ranger sans pet, good news, thieves and warriors already exist.
You. You are hopelessly ig’nant if you think thieves and warriors play anything like rangers. Also tells me you don’t play a thief or warrior or you wouldn’t have made such a stupid comment that makes God cry from the sheer stupidity.
I just want a hammer or a mace and I’ll start playing my engine. I tried the wrench and bombs, but they suck as far as melee weapons go. Bombs are too delayed. Wrench/gear shield is barely melee given all the conditions on it.
I just assumed, when I found out there was an engineer class, they’d have access to hammers and/or maces. Just seemed natural.
Want to make the SB better? Just have Anet revert it back to the pre “animation fix” state.

If you pew pew from afar and not into melee at all, it’s easier to make your pet survive through F1 and F3… but then you’re doing **** damage compared to melee and not sharing in the group buffs. F1 and F3 don’t work if you and the pet are in melee range. The pet is still going to eat it.
Pets will always be bad until we have 100% control… which means more than four buttons. I mean, it’s stupid that we don’t have a keybind for active/passive. The reasoning? Too much control will scare away noobs. Great. Thanks for hampering my ability to control the pet and making it work better for me because it is going to scare the super casual away from the class. THAT kittenes me off the most.
It would be better if pets had immunity from NPC aoe… like, stated above, Golem Mark II.

They didn’t say it was intentional to downgrade four LVL 80 items thrown into the forge.
And who cares if I needed them or not to begin with? That has 0% affect on this bug.
Why is the forge giving out sub lvl 80 (i.e. lvl 75-79) when I put in four lvl 80 weapons? I just put in four lvl 80 exotic weapons and got out a lvl 79 exotic weapon. WTF? It’s supposed to up the level of or keep the level of whatever it is you put in. Why the downgrade? That ain’t right.

It’s funny their stance on macros then they do releases like the keyboard they did with SteelSeries… that has heavy macro’ing capabilities.
Yup. They need some stellar expansion. Something with a large new map and a metric *#&$ ton of new content… complete with new world boss, dungeons, fractals, and farms.
I’d much rather pay $120 for two copies for my wife and I than more LS… I stopped buying gems awhile back because LS ain’t cutting it content wise. After we get our AP the wife and I go back to what we were doing before LS…. which is dungeons, fractals, and guild stuff.

They did. My wife and I have gotten almost 10 fractal skins between us (all different) in the past two weeks from lvl 19, 29, 38, and 49s (we try to run 3 a day when I’m home).. I got final rest last week from SB. So, yeah, I might actually believe them when they say that DR isn’t really active on any given day.
And I was in lab for 6-8 hours straight (read: constant) the first night and never hit DR.
Have you played a Ranger? No? Yeah, that’s obvious.
AI is not Anet’s strong suit if you haven’t noticed.
Dunno, but if they have maybe that can move on to the REAL glitch where you are UNABLE to swap weapons… Or the glitch that doesn’t allow you to change utility traits when you’re OOC.

They need to make/remake our utility skills to be more focused on the Ranger (and specifically increasing power/damage). I literally have four I use from all of them because I run a power ranger and all but four have nothing to do with increasing power… And the only reason I have that many now is because of the signet change.
- Events that were bugged were often patched with a band-aid by removing loot from the mobs. Even after the events were fixed properly, often times the loot tables were left bare. (Halla Corpseflayer, Crusader Angaria, etc.)
- Gold bots in the early times of this game would often farm groups of mobs that had good drop rates. A lot of those enemies now don’t drop decently anymore even though bots have been destroyed mostly. Why not bring back some of the loot to those mobs?
- The First Halloween was very rewarding to players for beating the Mad King. We even got BLTC items from it. You guys have really tightened the reins on rewarding loot.
- The second Pavilion Event saw massive cuts to the type of loot players got. I liked the design of the second one better from a game play perspective because it was more challenging, but the loot was decreased across the board and even some of the “rewards” dictated that we spend gold on top of the currency you were letting us earn. There was also a gold sink involved in kicking off the event. So an event got more challenging and we were rewarded less and a gold sink was added. See the issue? That to me isn’t rewarding for players at all.
Evan, you nailed it. Loot in this game is bad. Real bad from normal mobs. There’s no point in killing trash at all anywhere anymore, unless they drop heavy moldy bags and really only 10+ at a time.. I lived in the 1st pavilion event during the entire event because loot was awesome. Same with the Scarlet Invasion. Loot was good. Those are the only two instances I can think of where loot was good enough to hold fast my attention for an extended period of time.
It amazes me how many of you think the system is supposed to be fair to everyone.

It got nerfed a long time ago… Like around the time it first hit 39s on the TP.
Do we not realize that Rapid Fire at no point had a damage increase, and that its now even easier to dodge a larger amount of the damage?
No, a lot of (stupid) people miss this point.
Is not so much their rapid fire, but their stupidly strong autoattack. All long, medium, and short range, they are all too strong. Im not too opposed to keeping the long range damage “similar” to what it was before, but the medium and short range needed no buff. They should have stayed the same or have been nerfed actually.
There is no reason for autoattacks on any class to hit 2-3k on average. Thats broken. Especially for a skill that is an autoattack and fires so fast.

By the way, where did you come up with that number? I can do 2k+ auto attacks on every profession in this game with the right weapon. So if every profession is equally “broken”, as you claim, what is the problem?

Actually I have leveled all professions to 80 within the first 6 months of release. My rangers is probably 4th or so on my list of time I play it. It is not a matter of rangers running to defend there profession. As I see it, it is the informed running to educate the uninformed. For example, complaining that a auto attack damage level is over powered, when it is a level that any profession can obtain on an auto attack, seems very uneducated to me.
autoattacks that hit that hard are broken, at least when they do at nearly every range. other professions can hit that hard if they are full glass but not at every range, only ranger. its the combination of speed, damage, and distance that make the autoattack over powered. one of them needs to be nerfed.
I didnt’ say rangers are overpowered either, they are not. its just certain aspects of the longbow that are. rifle damage is very similar to longbow, in some ways, but there are many reasons why its not viable. the hardest hitting skill that you will consistently land on rifle is volley. the autoattack is awful in damage, unlike the ranger longbow autoattack. killshot and rapid fire are comparable in damage except one is so predictably easy to dodge wihle the other can still hit you for around 2 arrows after you dodge the beginning of it.
