So what if they can just swap sets at least those sets are seeing play..
Bam. This sums it up right here. “Diversity” for the sake of “diversity”. This. This right here is why I’m sincerely glad you’re not a Dev for GW2.
Incentive to bring someone more durable, incentive to bring someone to alleviate some unavoidable damage, incentive to bring someone to condi stack. These are things I feel need to be in the game for pve. Why is this such a bad thing if it is not required?
No organized runs are going to be bring it over direct damage if it’s not required (a.k.a. forced).
I find comments like this insulting to development teams. It litterally does come down to creating mechanics that can be completed without them but provides some purpose if they are brought.
I don’t care if you find it insulting to the Devs. You missed THE key word: ORGANIZED. Organized groups, any worth their toons anyway, is going to bring optimal gear/builds and strategy to get through the content the fastest. Which means no matter what changes the Dev’s make there is going to be an optimal gear/build & strategy to do it.
The thread is still going on because the point remains that gear designed to make the player deal more damage is so much more efficient in every stage of pve than anything else. I don’t care what you call it, dps support tank there doesn’t seem to be anyone refuting it, and this is something that should change.
That’s insane and not a game I will play. If they change it where we are forced into traditional WoW roles because of a crying minority of people on the forum, I’ll quit this game faster than you can cry because you’re still getting kicked out of speed clear groups.
I guess I’m just tired of hand holding in MMOs. Just make a Tutorial that gives you an idea of what is about to occur, one I can skip on alts, and then let us loose to discover it all. Right now I feel forced to unlock things so I can then play.
/shrug
Old way didn’t hold the hand. I much prefer it to the NPE.
Title of the thread is totally misleading. Should be: “QoL Request for New Expansion”
I’d be happy already if they changed the RnG to the way PvP maps are currently chosen. Rolling swamp usually takes longer than the actual fractal. >_>
Whhhhhhhaaaaaaaaa? Man, I usually get it within the first 3 rolls. It’s EXTREMELY rare for me to not to get it within 5 rolls… which is why when I run fractals with my guild they always demand I go roll for swamp lol

Oh I have the tomes to make it to instant 80, I just don’t want to see a bunch of bads, running around, not knowing what they are doing and ruining everyone else gameplay just because they skipped the learning experience part.
Have you seen those players that instant level an ele to 80 and how bad they are?
Same concept.
Have you tried the NPE? That thing is effin’ terrible. I’d rather insta-80 and pay monies to get the traits unlocked then go through the NPE. Geezus, man… And no, I"ve never played WoW so I don’t care for the compairison as it means nothing to me.
EDIT: Not to mention, lvl 80 is where I’m going to be spending the VAST majority of time on the toon so I’d rather learn it at 80 than before that when all the skills weren’t opened up. And I have to agree with this: “From my experience people who play disregarding class mechanics are bad regardless how long they’ve been playing their character.”

I’m gonna chime in. You’re not wrong, but he’s likely not wrong either. The teams might not be “full” zerker, but many a time a new player in-game will ask what they ought to build for dungeons/leveling in map chat and receive “zerker” as a response. This isn’t new or unknown. Berserker stats are, statistically, the best at putting out damage for most classes. There are some exceptions to this rule, but it’s pretty safe to say that your damage will be higher with berserker gear if your play style doesn’t change any.
Right. I won’t argue that zerker gear/builds are the best at putting out the damage. That was never in question. The question regarded was the “vast majority” of players in PVE for a fact ran zerker or not, which is simply unknowable outside of Anet. The question regarded was the “vast majority” of dungeon runs were done for a fact by parties running full zerk gear/builds. The difference was I wasn’t making claims that needed statiscal/hard data to back it up.
And, I agree, that is most likely the price of materials for zerker equipment cost the most due to the preceived gate that you need it to do content which was passed by word-of-mouth. Basically it could be an artifical demand on the materials because so many casuals have been convinced that they need zerker gear to be viable (which is completely false because every gear/build is viable) while not knowing about the other (argueably more important) half which is traits… but that’s just a theory I literally put together while typing this post.

Honor and privilege? Dude, they’re just game designers, not the effin’ Dhali Llamma.
Besides, I highly doubt they’re going to give out any NEW information unless it was already scheduled to be released.
Well, Kal, it’s just Darth here wants to force his view point on other players and he wants the Dev’s to force EVERYONE to do what he wants to do which is to level the Rev up without any tomes or exp scrolls. It’s pretty obvious.
I, for one, will be using exp scrolls, writs, and tomes to get mine up to LVL 80 as fast as possible.
Besides the comeback (which would be exciting in any game) the game was just as dull to watch as it is to play in sPvP. Everyone playing 100% safe builds with no haymakers and a ton of conditions.
PVP in this game is boring, period. That’s why I have no want to watch it or play it.
Until I literally regain Remoseless after killing something instead of having to get out of combat to regain it, I’ll never use it. Ever…. Even then I probably still won’t use it because Predator’s Onslaught is much better because Predator’s Onslaught isn’t on a 20s internal CD. Only way I would take it over Predator’s Onslaught is if Remoreseless was on a 5 sec or less CD and I didn’t have to get out of combat to regain it and/or it actually hit on critical with 5 sec or less CD.
Besides, we usually have a warrior in party spamming vul.
Pretty much my Marksmanship traitline almost never changes. Look at it any random time and I’ll have Steady Focus/Spotter/Predator’s Onslaught.

There’s no new information on SAB at this time as far as a return date. You know it will come back at some point in the future, but there is no date to announce right now.
Can we go ahead and get a date? My brother said he’d come back to GW2 when SAB comes back… so, if we can get that to happen that’d be great.
So, after nearly a year…. I started a new character. A necro in prep for the greatsword. Great. Now I’ll get to see what this NPE is all about.
Uh, no. **** this sideways with a pineapple on fire.
I gave up on the NPE. I’m waiting on HoT and the revamp of the NPE before I go about unlocking the skills/traits on the necro I made. As a vet player, this is just torture to try to unlock all these skills and traits. It makes me really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really miss the old way now
Man, I’m surprised there’s no one in this thread screaming about this would just be a gate-way drug to gear check…. lol
I fully support this.
Devs, please put this in immediately.
“We know the druid has a changed mechanic but that is not the same as an entirely different mechanic.” <— No… What we know is that we saw some game footage that may or may not be in the Beta or full release versions on what the Druid class mechanic may or may not be. Until it’s 100% confirmed it’s just speculation.
They specifically said in the pax announcement that there would be changes to the mechanic so yes we know for a fact there will be changes
Yes, we do know there will be changes. We don’t know, however what exactly will be changed. Trailer at least seems to suggest that pets will remain – though not necessarily unchanged, of course.
Right. That’s pretty much what I was trying to get across.
Stacking in a corner and burning a boss down is often the best strategy, that is what arenanet wants to change.
PuGs still do that? Man… SOoooooooo outdated.
How will you play yours?
Depends on what happens with the Druid profession mechanic.
I wonder though if they were to do that if it would just end up “Remove 2 Conditions” instead of specific conditions.
I wouldn’t mind trading that damage at all since I don’t use it as a damage dealing utility at all, only as a stun breaker.
It is not i am having problem with them because i like challenge. What i find problem is how they have more advantage without any effort and consequence. It is common sense for any game designer to not design a profession by give high it high advantage without have penalty, concequence and risk. Like one of the designer say, “it is complete suicide without having any risk”
Hate to break it to you kiddo, but game balancing DOES NOT REVOLVE AROUND YOU.
The games designers have to take into account WAY MORE than what you think, in your extremely limited experience, is “challenging”. Like I said, stop posting, go play the more because with every silly post you illustrate more and more you that you lack sorely in knowledge of what challenge actually is in this game.
I think people still confuses viability vs efficiency.
Is every build viable? Almost yes, you can clear any PvE content in any gear/trait.
Can you expect every team comp to have the same performance? Heck no, that would be extremely wrong..
Amazing how many people don’t get this.
The skill involved at jumping on a rock/beam or walking 2 steps to the side must be very high.
You’d be surprised. :/

That would mean something, if perhaps, the pets were worth a ****. Not to mention if that was a built in control from the beginning, hard to imagine even with your made-up scenario, that it would be considered an abuse… like say S&R was prenerf because they said it was never designed to work the way it did. Perhaps stowing while in combat could be another layer of pet control and not abuse… And if the intended function was to have it as another pet control it would have CD on it to prevent any “abuse” that might be possible… No, I think it was done to try to force the class to use the pet.
Do you even have a ranger?
(edited by thefantasticg.3984)
@fantasticg Everything you say is nonsense. Arguing with nonsense is… nonsensical. Not going to bother any more.
What you’re saying is obviously wrong to anyone who knows the game even remotely well.
It’s not aruging, my dear boy, when I was right the entire time… and if the court of public opinion is as ignorant of the difference between claims and facts, you are right they will see it your way.
Have you looked to see whatelse is required by those materials to craft? Perhaps that’s what driving up the cost? Of course you haven’t.
Have you? Since you’re trying to argue against it have you looked and can provide even a single alternate cause of the higher cost? You haven’t and you can’t..
I don’t have to. The burden of proof is on you. It’s on you to bring the proof since you stated these things as facts… which you still haven’t done that the “vast majority” of dungeon runs are done by people running full zerker gear/builds and or that the “vast majority” of players in PVE are, in fact, running zerker gear/builds. If it was I that stated these things as facts it would be on me to provide undeniable proof that this was indeed a fact and not just a claim I was making to try to defend my point.
You, sir, still lack solid evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the “vast majority” of PVE players run zerker gear/builds and you lack solid evidence that “vast majority” of dungeon runs are done by zerker gear/builds.
What you, sir, are doing are making claims (and somehow magically turn them into facts) with NO DATA whatsoever to back up your silly claims.
I eargerly await your evidence that does turn your claims into facts.
By the way, what number consitutes “vast majority” of players? 1,000? 100,000? 1,000,000? Does this “vast majority” include the Chinese market? Also, what number qualifies as the “vast majority” of dungeon runs? Do you know how many total dungeon runs have been done since release so that you have a number to go off of to claim “vast majority”?

Oh… ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…. That does not work while in combat… Or take fall damage… We’ve been asking for perma-stow for so long!
That fall damage thing annoys me so much when I’m trying to do jumping puzzles. Didn’t realise you can’t stow them while in combat though. Maybe that’s to prevent abuse. Like if you’re pet’s about to die and pet swap is still on cooldown, they don’t people stowing a pet just to avoid it dieing and incurring it’s back-to-life cooldown..
Nope. There’s no opprotunity for abuse for pet swapping. We don’t know what would happen if a pet was near death while in combat and you stow it because that has never been an option. Because the pet swapping button has it’s own 20 CD (if not traited) if you swap in combat and nearly 1 CD if not in combat.. but since taking fall damage puts you in combat you cannot stow the pet until you’re out of combat again. It also doesn’t matter if it’s on passive/active because the second the Ranger gets into combat the pet comes out no matter passive/active setting.
I didn’t address the crafting materials because like your other claims based on your own preception, and not actual data, that proves nothing. All it means is that the crafting materials for crafting zerk items is higher. That’s it. Correlation does not mean causation. Oh dear… Have you looked to see whatelse is required by those materials to craft? Perhaps that’s what driving up the cost? Of course you haven’t.
I hate to break it to you, kiddo, but without hard statistical data from Anet to back you up, you can be positive in claiming all you want from your experience in game that the vast majority runs zerker, but it’s just a claim and not, indeed, fact.
And, I’ll repeat myself for you since I’m such a nice guy: ALL GEARS/BUILDS IS VIABLE. THERE IS NO CONTENT THAT YOU HAVE TO HAVE A CERTAIN TYPE OF GEAR/BUILD FOR.
EDIT: Oh, and just incase you didn’t know, you don’t have to run zerker. You don’t have to play with people that run zerker. You don’t even have to play this game. And just because you think there are significant disadvantages doesn’t mean there actually are…
(edited by thefantasticg.3984)
creating a higher level salvage kit… unless i remember wrong.
Yeah, that’s what I use them for. Higher level salvage kits with 250 charges.
Facts… I do not think that word means what you think it means.
So, you have the statical data from Anet that states for FACT that the “vast majority” of players wear zerk gear? No? Then I guess you don’t know this for a fact you are just guessing.
So you have the statistical data from Anet that states for FACT that that the “vast majority” of dungeon runs are done by players using zerker gear/builds? No? Then I guess you don’t this for a fact you are just guessing.
What is fact is that there are multiple threads on the first page of this forum complaining about there being one set of optimal stats for PVE. All gear/builds are viable. There is simply no content that anyone is locked out of because of gear/builds.

Can we get this instigating thread closed? It’s obvious OP is just trying to get people angry with his passive-aggressive wording.
No i believe people are already mad because zerkers ruined the pve for all the rest of us th at dont want to just be full on DPZzz. Its boring role to play. I shoudnt be forced to do so, simply because the developers originally thought it was a good idea to leave only that role and get rid of everything else.
See? Mods! This just proves my point. He’s projecting his anger on this imaginative group of players to try to bolster his point that he is passive-aggressively defending. He’s actually making the forums a more toxic environment with his passive-aggressive posting. I shouldn’t be forced to endure his threads, simply because he originally thought it was a good idea to post that he shouldn’t be forced to run zerker.
Can we get this instigating thread closed? It’s obvious OP is just trying to get people angry with his passive-aggressive wording.
What, because it’s true? Proper dungeon parties build for team synergy, that is the thing ArenaNet wants players to do. Everyone plays more than one role.
Nothing but lies.
You say lies but provide no proof to the contrary…
I am curious about why Knighthonor.4061 didn’t just get that there’s a trinity in this game that is DPSsss, Control, and support.
Traiditional trinityyyy is the most boring way to make an MMO of them all. Why did they make a whole game with non-traditional trinity roles.
I rather have DPSsss and keep the Control and Support.
Anybody else agree?
Right, but instead of gimping myself or yourself with the GS… I should or you should rather get 22 stacks of vul from RF and whilring defenses than 15 stacks with RF and maul.
PLEASE make the final boss battle good!

No.
1) Autoattack
2) ??
3) ?????
4) Mordremoth dead
5) Profit
Well, that’s 3 of us on NA and looking for others to do lvl 50s with!
OP, you seem like you’re trying really hard not to like it so save yourself the trouble and exit stage right. You’ll be happier for it. I mean, it sounds like you were really happy with the other MMO you were playing… so why not just go back to it?
When you have 5 toons doing full zerk damage the “small increase” ain’t so small.
I just want to say, this is a great great topic, the full zerker craze in pve, especially dungeons is really irritating for so many reasons.
Ignorance is bliss.
There is no “zerker craze” in Open World PVE. Go into any open map chat and ask people to ping the gear they are wearing and you’ll see there’s a VAST array of geared toons out in Open World. Then ask them what their build is. I know from my own asking (randomly) that the ones I have asked (randomly) just run whatever they think is good, no meta. The only place there is a “zerker meta” is in dungeons/fractals. That’s it.
Seems logical that it would be treated that way… but it makes me not want to PVP with Reverants…. And then the taunt. The whole losing control of my toon ****es me off to the extreme. I don’t like it now and I won’t like it then.
The fact that you think Whirling Defense is a DPS increase only proves that you don’t know what you are talking about. Whirling Defense does half the DPS of the Sword autoattack. The only time to use it is to reflect projectiles. Longbow, except for cleaving, will out DPS GS even at close range.
12 stacks of vul (if no one else in the party is brining the vul) is a 12% DPS increase.
think that because a few slyvari go mad they think all of them are going to be mad and that we will have to defeat Traherne because he’s gone mad. It’s just like how there’s a thread about a tengu in a WvW screencap and people are going mad because they think tengus will be a playable race in HoT even though the devs said no new races right now.
I’m hoping for that bolded part… Only bit of story I’d actually be interested in.
Well it wouldn’t so much be killing Trahearne so much as the story surrounding it. If Trahearne just pops out of nowhere and starts attacking you, it wouldn’t be very satisfying. However the story does hold the potential of the slow corruption of Trahearne and his inevitable fall into the claws of Mordy. Bonus points if they can actually get us to care a bit more about Trahearne before we have to kill him.
IMPOSSIBRU!!!
1500 range is offset by low DPS under 1200, plus the attacks are ridiculously easy to dodge (they are slow firing, slow traveling, and you have lots of time to see them coming from 1500 away).
That’s already been mentioned. So has dodging, reflection, blocking, and the fact that 1500 range can be covered in about 3 seconds by most professions. Also the fact that rangers have terrible defenses if specced for longbow. The problem here is that the OP doesn’t actually give the responses more than a cursory glance, and wonders why we get upset with him. It’s the online equivalent of sticking his fingers in his ears and yelling “la la la I can’t hear you 1500 range OP!”
I am not doing that at all and i am listening. I will stop writing.
Good. You need to play more. Looking at your post history you’re currently advocating nerfs on Warriors, Engineers, Thieves, and Rangers. Please do us, and especially yourself, a favor and learn how to play the game instead of trying to get classes nerfed because you have problems fighting them.
Seems more like the warrior RUSH utility.
Open World PVE is for casuals, man. You didn’t get the memo?
its the poor design of PvP.
This guy… This guy here gets it.
Or just make it a knockdown… That’d be awesome.
Well, they’ve confirmed Hammer, axe off hand, and mace mainhand. They’ve confirmed sword and staff? I mean, I’ve already got them waiting and can be used on other toons if it turns out they cannot use sword or staff, but I’d like to see the official line that they will be usable by the Revenant.
Misclick? No.
Lose track of my cursor on the screen in the middle of fights because of all the particle effects? Yes.
Anyway to turn particle effects completely off?
Most of our DPS comes from the Sword’s AA, so what’s the point of equipping it, if you can’t effectively use it.
And, judging by the complaints on this subforum, a great many people can’t. In which case they are better off using the GS… I admit to using the GS until learning the content, even then, I’m not on my A game all the time and I still mess up with the sword, but it’s not because the sword messed me up, I did that all by my lonesome.
