Zerker nerf is not enough

in Profession Balance

Posted by: thefantasticg.3984

thefantasticg.3984

The bottom line is you are used to being more important than others because you come from a system where your dedicated healer role was very high-value. DPS were a dime a dozen but you were the game’s very special snowflake and now that you’re brought into a game where you have to both support and dps at the same time ( like all zerker parties do) you no longer feel special – just one in a crowd – so you want the game to change to suit your needs and ultimately that’s selfish to the extreme.

I am aware of fact that changes I’am proposing would turn the class system more to mmo’s holy trinity (tank-dps-healer) but i really wouldn’t like to see gw transformed into WoW. What i’d like to see is more diversity, interesting meta and one’s ability to play whatever style he or she wishes to.

-

I am just in awe at the amount of self-centered thinking you’ve got going on here.
So you want the game to be one where everyone can play whatever they like ( Like the game is now) but it should be changed where what you like is enforced on others because you can’t be bothered to play with people that like what you like. Or am I getting this wrong?

This pretty much sums up every “plz nerf zerker” thread I have ever seen on this forum.

We are the pet class of this game. The trick is to figure out a way to make them work for everybody.

Which they have failed at since beta and continue to fail at with this patch. I was hoping but after some hours of trial and error, they still aren’t good enough for me to pick over my warrior, guardian, or mesmer for dungeons.

I’m glad, however, they left my main hand sword untouched… but with the recent GM traits to warriors there’s more reason to take it over my Ranger.

Why hate the zerkers

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: thefantasticg.3984

thefantasticg.3984

The problem isn’t caused by the stat, it’s caused by the dungeon imbalance.

Currently, Berserker’s is ALWAYS the best solution to everything (well, maybe with rare exceptions, usually being Assassin’s) because we can bypass the difficulty by stacking/skipping etc.

If “exploits” weren’t possible, then we’d need more survivability in dungeons and thus Berserker’s wouldn’t always be the best option.

from this post alone i can say you dont know what you are talking about and you should spend your time to l2p the game instead of writing nonsense.

Agreed. I guess to some people dodging, timing aegis correctly, or evades isn’t surviving but mindlessly tanking something with PTV is survivability.

While I do not hate Berserker’s gear, I bet that you have no evidence that 100% of players that use Soldier’s for whatever reason do not know how to dodge or just want to “mindlessly facetank.” Insulting generalizations like these not only don’t help your case, but perpetuate the irrational hate on both sides of the coin.

Just play, don’t hate.

Actually, I have talked to people (I can’t name them because of forum rules) that have specifically said they run soldiers gear because they suck at dodging. That’s not a generalization. That’s fact. I’ve seen their DPS in dungeons. They are running soldiers gear and they are bad at dodging. At least the ones I have played with were upfront about it.

And only people who haven’t rolled a thief and warrior say if you don’t want a pet roll one of those. The closest you can get to the agility of a ranger is d/d thief, and then it isn’t the same. It just isn’t. It’s got a different feel to it.

What if I wanna roll a ranger without the pet and not as a thief or warrior? It was my favourite on gw1 to play ranger.

Best you can do is don’t put any points in beast mastery, choose 2 pets with support abilities like regen or stability, put them in passive (to keep them out of combat) and ignore them. If they’re alive, use f2 for the ability, if not, nevermind them.

Thats what those of use who don’t want the pets do. Although we usually run jungle cat for the 5 might stacks and the red moa for fury.

Sadly, I have to admit without a cat you aren’t going to out dps a warrior. While the cat is up, with RaO, jungle cat f2, and warhorn #5, you can out dps a shout/banner zerker axe/axe warrior.

You don’t need a cat or bird to out DPS a warrior, you need a Canine, Drake, Spider, or Devourer to out DPS a warrior, if you’re using a cat and can keep the cat up 100% the warriors gonna sit in a corner and cry because the cat out DPSes him alone.

With 30 pts in BM and RaO + WH #5, sure… on a stationary object.

You can give your pet 25 might without RaO with relative ease, not to mention all you’ve gotta do is 1) chill them or 2) cripple them + swiftness your pet (both extremely easy tasks for a ranger) and your kitty will have no issue nibbling on your target, not to mention you’ve also got MT, and Entangle if you really wanna just pin them down. Or you can pair up with a very CC heavy build that’ll keep them still for you.

There’s A LOT of builds that make people stand still, so don’t act like it’s some difficult task.

Oh, I"m not denying that there aren’t builds to make people stand still, but I don’t play those because I don’t pvp. I only play zerker builds… cause I only pve/dungeon. No need for CC because of defiance. I’m also not using traits to boost the pets damage, but my own… so I don’t run that trait that gives pets might stacks on crit hits.

Ranged-Only class

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: thefantasticg.3984

thefantasticg.3984

Considering the above post I’d say go warrior.

I want to play a Ranged-Only class

You need to find another game to play then…

GW2 is very anti ranged combat. As shown by:-

-Best way of killing anything in PvE, group into a ball, buff, melee, revive until foe dead.
-Every good missile weapon has been nerfed to oblivion, example Ranger shortbow, Warrior Longbow, Thief shortbow.

Really, don’t play GW2 with a ranged character only ends in tears…

Do not listen to this person. Ranged is fun. Stacking is only for smart players who don’t like spending hours in a dungeon that should take less than 30 minutes or when you want to actually complete something before the timer runs out in open PVE.

Fixed that for you.

Option 1: Not Stacking in CoF p1 = 30+ mins
Option 2: Stacking in CoF p1 = 7-10 mins

Uh, I’ll take option 2, Bob. Every. Dam. Time.

As stated by Shockwave, this is a game design issue. I’m not going to stop running zerker gear but any gear I had that wasn’t zerker gear will soon be across all my characters… Of course, I’ll still keep my PVT drunk play gear for when I’m smashed.

its the 1st step, by lowering the dps by 10%, the fight will take 10% longer, so players will take more damage during the fight, so zerker might be less tempting to certain players.

Those certain players were already bad from the start.

From what I have seen only the people who don’t learn encounters and don’t know how/when to dodge are the only ones who can’t/shouldn’t run zerkers.

My point was that the HP they have in WvW doesn’t match their Vitality. I mean regardless of pet toughness, a wolf with 14k HP instead of the 22k that it should have and does have anywhere outside of WvW. A warrior AoE’s for more than the HP of that pet.

You’re right, it is a silly change to only have that effect PvE. I didn’t mean to seem like I was arguing directly with you, but I am glad that you came out and said this point directly, because I completely agree. Pets should definitely have the same stats across all game modes anyhow, ESPECIALLY with the April 15th update trying to integrate the game modes better. It’s just another unnecessary barrier between game modes without even considering the effect it has on gameplay.

So yes, I totally agree with out on this.

ALL pets have increased stats in PvE, including minions, spirits, phantasms, turrets etc etc. This is because in PvE there are mechanics that made bad rangers VERY VERY VERY bad because they wouldn’t micro their pets and they would die horribly. A good ranged ranger didn’t normally have these issues because they’d ensure the pet wasn’t in harms way.

The same scenario takes place in WvW, people who micro the pet have little issue, those who don’t, have a dead pet. Instead of learning how to use the pet people are just asking for buffers, which wont work in WvW because a buffer in WvW gives us too big of an advantage due to it being vs other players.

Fixed that for you because melee rangers, such as myself, have always had this problem as we have discussed before when bringing in a melee pet for max damage.

It’s not a matter of “opening up my eyes” as they already are. I just don’t have blinders on such as you do and others who are bad hiding behind “it’s a bug!!! thats why I die!!!”. It’s a matter of attitude I guess and willing to work with the sword as is. Like I said, it is on you if you refuse to learn or to turn off auto attack. I don’t see how the preceived problems with the MH sword keep people from using it. I usually use MH sword/GS (or MH sword/SB if I’m smashed from the 151+coke) if I bring my Ranger into dungeons, and that includes Arah.

From my experience it is a matter of learning the encounters and timing more than anything when it comes to using the MH sword. As I said, the AA doesn’t cause me problems. If it did, I would turn AA off. If players are having problems with AA on the MH sword, then turn AA off. If a player refuses to turn off AA then the problem no longer lays with the weapon but the player refusing to adapt the weapon to their preferred play style.

Well i’m sorry to inform you that you’re wrong,

Sounds like we will have to agree to disagree, Snowflake.

If I didn’t like drinking hard spirits (Wild Turkey 101 and Cruzan 151 being my choice drinks right now) so much, I could learn to mh sword solo lupi and the like… Most other encounters I have played through (I don’t do fractals) in PVE/Dungeons I haven’t had a problem with the sword. So, yeah, it is a L2p as far as I see it… which is why we will have to agree to disagree.

My comments to the OP were constructive. If you declined to see them that way, that is your problem, not mine. But, in an effort to help you and others I shall clarify: I suggested the OP look inward and improve themselves, their timing, their knowledge of the encounters, etc. If you couldn’t see that, kiddo, well, don’t bother responding to me because we have nothing further to discuss.

For instance: drunk or sober I have been melee’ing the statue of Dwayna for awhile now. It’s easy. The tells in the attacks seem like they gone on for minutes before “she” attacks. I can melee it on any class (except Necro as I don’t have a necro)… if the class has access to vigor and blocks it is even easier.

I don’t know, maybe I put too much faith in my fellow players’ abilities to learn and adapt. I don’t consider myself the pinnacle of player skill by a long shot, even drunk. So I figure if I can do it I see no reason anyone else with a normal functioning brain/body can’t do it either.

I consider when they nerfed S&R down to the way “it was intended to work” the start of the down hill of the Ranger for me.

RNG is a bell curve. Better hope you’re on the right side.

I would also add one thing – bosses will start the same time but killing them will be out of schedule. What it mean I expect plenty of people parking their chars at world boss and in case of quick win logging out and in many times to participate in event not completed yet. Then Anet will “fix” it with the same approach as Karka one chest per account.

If they did this they would effectively kill any need I have of my alts in open world PVE. I literally would have no reason to log into 6 of my 7 toons 99% of the time. Only time I would log into another toon would be for a specific dungeon run (that they nerfed the benefits of runnings alts in already).
