Burning should definitely be able to take down any construct.
You’re solution, then, is to tear the game apart and turn it into every other MMO on the market?
Why don’t you play any other MMO on the market instead, and let this game be what it is?
I am getting a little bid tired of this “thats also in another MMO so it’s bad” attitude.
I am too man. There’s a reason why WoW has lasted as long as it has with the type of numbers it’s had with a subscription model in a growing F2P market. Adaptation
That’s right. they kept the game going by adapting to the times to the needs of the players. They enhanced the ui, they added various awards systems (one of my favorites was turning in rare materials for an engineer profession only enchantment system), they made adjustments to content multiple times, they allowed players to do as much as they possibly could within the limited confines of the games mechanics. That’s how you keep your playerbase, you keep the game updated keep it modern make it more available to more players by not limiting the heck out of it and one of the ways you improve it is by improving the rewards system constantly.
RNG is really really old, it has been proven to be unreliable time and time again. The problem comes when the developers of any game don’t learn from the history of mmo development already experienced multiple times by multiple gamers in multiple mmo’s. That’s why people left in droves from SWTOR because EA made the same exact mistakes that were made years ago and didn’t bother to have actual gamers on staff who could tell them what not to do. By the time they started listening to the players it was too late and they had no choice but to make the game F2P and move on, and even then they tried in the beginning to use the infamous Sony Freemium model that limits everything, until they got backlash from that too and finally changed.
So what we’re seeing here is typical but not pleasant and claiming that something good from another game shouldn’t be adapted for this one is just ignorant and will keep the game from growing in both population and popularity in the future.
yea fleeing not so much, that already was happening in PVE when thieves went stealth during combat, the most annoying thing I’ve ever experienced in any PVE game.
Mobs already dodge and try to get out of AOE zones but not to the degree of players. I do recall someone mentioning how the more people are in a zone doing the same event the better the AI would become but I’ve never seen this in practice. Did they shut that off?
Yeah a tiny bit late to the party there bud LOL.
They are working on Orr and the rewards system so we’ll see what happens next. They know there’s a problem.
Rangers are one of the weakest classes in PVE however it extends far beyond the problems of PVP it’s basically a problem with pets overall.
As an engineer I can tell you that even with the new patch being exactly like the leak, turrets are still completely useless, and here’s why. they die in five seconds under the strain of ANY AOE it literally does not matter what AOE you use against them they croak.
The problem is pets need a base immunity to AOE damage or this will happen every time. They need to not only have a base immunity but they need to not be able to be autotargeted that way all is fair in pet heavy classes.
Until this is done in this game it’s going to be just like the stunlock mechanics, broken. (stunlock being no timer in between stuns to prevent being bounced around or knocked over or continuously made dizzy by these kinds of attacks).
Gear grind isn’t necessary, rewards are. What we’re seeing is a severe lack of rewards and they are working on that.
There does have to be a carrot on a stick so once the rewards revamp is in all should be good. There is also two other major updates needed and expected for the game, the UI update and the combat update to finally and at long last fix the glaring problems with CC, condition damage, and support.
I’m on TC and even there the mid level zones are all empty most of the time, you’ll be hard pressed to find anyone there or even run across anyone while playing. Most people are in the really low levels doing dailies or really high level zones gathering or focused in LA running FotM because the other dungeons save for CoF P1 aren’t profitable.
LS sometimes focuses people in a single zone for a time but that’s all you’ll see.
Until their kitchen sink is implemented (the massive UI update that all mmo’s must have in order to keep things fresh) and the combat updates are complete to fix the problems with CC, support, and condition damage we’ll be seeing alot more empty zones.
it would be a temporary fix im sure.
Since engis are more prone to rely on conditions I think we should have been first on the list to use conditions. We need it the most honestly. The conditions we have aren’t balanced in the first place. did you know that the base damage for condi is different per class? if that wasn’t bad enough they don’t have a separate tick per condi per character which makes burns and poison pretty much useless. I understand that bleeds needed a solution for caps but a torment utility for poison, burning should have been considered for engis and engis should definitely have gotten torment
and of course that’s if this is real.
tries hard to get the image of nakoda’s toon wetting his pants out of his mind…. shivers
(edited by tigirius.9014)
They really messed it up when they gave it a global cooldown because not all of the effects for KR were op some of them were preparatory necessities like TK’s caltrops.
EG needs to get it’s heal back and TK needs it’s caltrops back. And they need to make only certain kits on kit refinement have a GCD the rest need their standard separate behind the scenes cooldown to function normally.
sounds legit, I’m kinda disappointed tho, we got decent updates but necros…. I’m glad they got an update but every buff screams out, “skrew you engi”. A 9s+ wall of fear, our burning (4s on a 10s cd) and they got fear…
it will be impossible for engi’s to 1v1 necros now
or anyone without stability or instant full condi removal.
Yep, pretty much this in my opinion.
Buffs are nice, but there’s no really dramatic changes going on here. No new weapons being made available, no hobosack appearance fix, just more buffs that make a bunker build stronger and stronger…and I don’t like/play bunker builds.
If anyone needed Torment it’s us. That’s for sure. And they need to change the tossed elixirs so we can have a direct stability boon without the RNG hassle.
It almost seems as if the initial design of the elixirs were one of much shorter effects and cooldowns, so we could chug down those elixirs like a drunk during happy hour.
that is at least the only way i can really think off that would defend any use of RNG in a skill mechanic.
This is pretty much how it feels to play Elixir heavy builds as an engineer imo
or how about kit swaps. I’d love to have something to say when I’m throwing on my bomb kit like “they’re really kittened now!” LOL
I often wonder that myself OP. Why are omnoms only available in the one place where nothing should be alive.
Yes we need BtA not BtC on our gear. especially Karma gear, and we need an item that removes runes/sigils without destroying the actual item. It’s expensive as heck to keep buying new runes while they work on balance issues causing complete rebuilding of characters.
Largos would be awesome to play can you imagine playing a thief largos?
Norn are the replacement for dwarves so that’s in the game already, drunken hyperbutch strong angry smelly men running around yelling at everything, yep they’re tall dwarves alright.
I’d like this but people port away anyways. I’d like for it to be a ui button so that we don’t buy the thing there is no cooldown and only the people who are downed or dead will know it’s coming.
That’s the best option.
PVE doesn’t need more challenge they need to open up how people get the currencies for pve so that advancement can occur more fluidly. Right now they have a system where the GMs have to put together everything, they don’t have a map label for PVE guild leaders so their party can follow them around for activities, they don’t have a calendar to schedule events, they don’t have a LFG with guild currency to help advance the guild or provide necessary/fun items for guild members from guild vendors, the system is a shell of what it should be.
Until they correct the UI for guilds adding more challenge won’t provide what’s missing for smaller less active or spread out amongst multiple time zone guilds.
that actually might work for them since the make most of their money off game sales and boxes. It would allow people to experience the game without making it crazy or allowing those people to do more than what they should. They’d probably have to restrict the dailies and the achievements when the rewards patch hits to keep farmers from using this to their advantage.
definitely for /sign
It is a big problem right now. I bet anything that if someone were to look at the SF server it would say full but it doesn’t help if everyone from that server is guesting on other servers does it.
It’s a weird backfire to this design. I wish they had just gone with merging the lower level zones automatically like single shard games do that way your toon would be saved on 1 server but would interact with multiple servers all the time depending on where one went in the world they’d always see someone. Sortof like what WoW did with lower level zones in their most recent expansion.
They have the technology because overflow servers and guesting are available, not sure why this wasn’t done honestly.
I agree with the rewards system. They are working on it tho.
The boss combat could not only use an adjustment to how long they have immunity to CC they could improve the AI so it doesn’t drop an AOE damage spot right on top of an AOE heal spot 98% of the time or 1 shot people I agree.
They could improve the way the condition builds do damage by extending the torment concept to other conditions. and improve the way conditions work overall. Poison for example has been used in murder mysteries both in fiction and real life for centuries in the human world but is a tickle to most mobs in Tyria.
The gear wall is particularly harsh when you’ve spent hours crafting to get to 400 make your stuff and then poof nothing else to make because the T6 mats to make runes/sigils are all but unavailable.
Support and CC are completely useless as builds in the game with the current mechanics for combat.
I am like you I love lots of things about this game, the scenery, the way they handle the resources, the ability to explore, the hidden aspects of the open world, the very concept of DEs/metas, but there’s alot to work on before it becomes amazing and combat is a very big thing to work on right now.
Oh and I understand OP that you don’t want to grind gear but currency wouldn’t be a bad thing, one that would allow you to purchase the skins you want without having to spend forever doing the same thing over again. Trust me no one wants more RNG as a solution to RNG.

I personally love how the underwater areas were done especially in Ascalon. Kelp with underwater beams of light shining down from the surface simply beautiful.
Riiiight and my screenies and videos don’t prove a thing right?
Correct. You tried to “prove” this already and didn’t convince anyone of anything, including Anet customer support.
I’ve been doing the “big chest” events in the starter areas/dragons the last few hours, and aside from the bonus chest I didn’t get any yellows in the loot drops for the first few. Oh no! It must be DR! I’m cursed!
Wait, then I did one and got two yellows. The next chest I got an exotic.
You EXPECT to receive a certain reward and think that the computer is somehow prejudiced against you when you don’t get it. But that’s not the case, sometimes people get a run of bad luck, like those threads people keep posting about ecto salvages. Getting 0-1 ectos per salvage in a run of five or six attempts is not a bug. Getting bad loot for a while is not a bug.
The vast majority of drops are going to be white/blue and some greens. If you got rares every few kills then they would be as common as greens, and they’d be selling on the TP for 1c above vendor price. Then people would complain that rares aren’t actually rare, and exotics are the only thing worth trying for, and they don’t drop often enough.
It’s already heading in that direction, the bonus rares everyone gets from multiple events drove down the cost of ectos and rares, and many exotics sell for a gold or two. The only really expensive items are no longer dropping, require crafting in the Mystic Forge, or are ultra-rare like the precursor weapons.
You can say this a hundred times, still doesn’t make it true.
Like I said “I’m hoping they come to their senses with this patch to improve rewards on this game I really do.”
They’ve already made it known they know there’s an issue with rewards system, you’re trying to prove otherwise by arguing everyone who’s already pointed out the flaws doesn’t change their replies to people on this very same topic nor does it discredit people because they are indeed working on the rewards system. So not really sure what you’re trying to do here honestly other then try to start arguments you can’t win.
@ Erasculio
The skill argument doesn’t apply either because they try to get the widest audience they can. The open world is specifically designed with people who aren’t going to do the harder content, they aren’t less skilled they are just less motivated to do more work in a game that’s supposed to be about fun. Also, they have plenty of currencies they could be using to get the rewards people need already. One of which ironically is skill points from leveling. I heard someone reply that he had 400 skill points. Shouldn’t those points be put to use or should they just sit there like achievement points and take up virtual space?
(edited by tigirius.9014)
Yeah i’m hoping the rewards system will give us something for these soon.
They are just sitting around doing nothing atm.
Dunno about the GW3 thing tho. odd.
the last one got me! LOL it reminds me of every single elitist that has come onto these forums spouting nonsense about how bad other players are when they are probably just as bad but won’t admit to it! Good stuff!
@Vayne,
You’re right that my examples were too narrow, but that was for clarity’s sake. I also like both story and exploration, and even more so with friends, but unlike you, I don’t find GW2 to be as satisfying at offering those things as it could.
There’s almost no reason to meet new people in the game, so unless I have friends I know in the real world that also play GW2, exploring the world is a lonely experience. I’ve 100% explored Tyria with my elementalist – completed it a few days ago, and I don’t recall any friendship I made. Besides, pve experience is so easy, that when i was playing with friends, combat got very trivial.
Some people blame the players for not interacting more with the in-game community, but it’s not the player’s fault, it’s the mechanics. If there are no mechanics that make people play together (guild-driven content, party-driven content, etc, etc), most players won’t play together. Surely, it’s still important to add support for those who like to play solo, but GW2 mostly only cared about those. There’s no healthy balance between community and solo experience in this game, it’s mostly one-sided to solo content, with the except of a few dungeons, which are only a small thing of what there is to experience in Tyria, and a few guild missions, which are gated.
But as you’ve said, there’s no game coming that offers a real alternative (well, maybe the new ff14, but it has a monthly paying model). We’re left waiting for for this game to get better, expecially and hopefully in an expansion, but it still doesn’t changes that this game was very unfocused when it was launched, it tried to appeal to every player with quantity of content, but then there was not enough time to focus on the quality of each type of content.
Maybe, the Living Story development is going to change that – it certainly seems very focused, with new content revolved around the same premise; but living story is still at an experimental phase, and the only thing we see anet focusing mostly at the moment, is on online shop and RNG content. I don’t mind that as long as that’s what is needed to keep supporting the game, so it can get massive updates later on; but should all future content in GW2 revolve around this RNG content model each month, with little else to bring to the table but a few unfocused, independent gated content, I’ll lose hope in this game.
I agree completely with you. Other mmo’s have tried this forced grouping approach and it failed with them as well. They then decided that the game should choose your parties. Thus LFG was born. It wasn’t just WoW that did this there’s plenty of games with similar machanics in their game.
STO for example allows people to group thru their LFG system to do all manner of content much of which gives you a choice in your currency between the guild vendor currency or the currency for reputations you’re building for gear and special items.
That model to me is far superior than expecting people to just jump on whenever without an in game calendar to schedule things or to expect that enough people will be online in any given guild to form a 5 man group at any time of day. It just won’t happen.
And changing a successful model for the sake of change is not the path to success, either. Unless that’s how you run your own successful company?.
I agree, I said in response to another poster that either extreme is to be avoided. But this example is simply recognizing that GW and GW2 are different games and should be treated differently. Treating GW2 like GW will not be successful because it is a bigger game, with a bigger staff, more ambitious plans, and more expenses. Obviously they have already decided that pushing out an expansion every six months is not going to work.
…So your solution is to make crafting nodes work like they did in games released ten years ago? I see.
Um, no. I didn’t offer a solution. I actually prefer GW2 to Rift’s loot system, including crafting nodes and the TP. So were I to make a suggestion, it would be that other games should follow GW2’s example.
Other people see this as a problem. I don’t.
Well as someone who’s never had a loot drop issue until GW2 November 2012 in any of the 15 mmo’s or 3 2d hack and slash games I’ve ever played (save 1 D3 that used the same model GW2 was using and lost 60% of their players) I can say I truly enjoy the loot systems in other games and not GW2, where you could actually get rewarded for your time doing the things they wanted you to do. In Rift specifically I could do nothing but Rifts and invasions (the equivolant of the DE’s and metas in GW2) and always count on getting worthy currency, items that could be used for crafting end game consumables and gear, and currency. In this game I get currency which doesn’t buy anything beyond the initial gear bought in temples, buys boxes that almost never drops any T6 mats at all and I hit DR long before I can get anything to drop off the temporary mobs in these events.
Rift is by far superior in the rewards department, even if someone got bored with doing Rifts they could always count on getting rewarded.
I’m hoping they come to their senses with this patch to improve rewards on this game I really do.
Oh and btw I hit DR when I’m simply doing my daily so that theory you had earlier doesn’t apply actually. Some people are basically stuck with permaDR and I just happen to have one of those accounts unfortunately.
No matter how many times you say this, it still will not become true.
Riiiight and my screenies and videos don’t prove a thing right? yeah come play on my computer for 1 day and you’ll see what happens every time. Just because you don’t believe it doesn’t make it false and I’m not the only one this happens to, plenty of other people having this same thing happen to them.
I don’t do dungeons or fractals at all. I’ve been buying those bags with the T6 mats in them to make stuff with mine.
I would think they’d add the armor items to karma vendors it’s a little odd to be using laurels like this especially since there’s only 1 thing per account to do to get them.
If you have another suggestion on how they can afford to keep the servers up without us needing to buy gems for cosmetic things that we want in the game, please by all means share it with the crowd
Using the same system seen in the original Guild Wars. This isn’t exactly hard to figure out.
I hope you don’t own or manage a company. Just keep doing things the same way you did ten years ago is not the path to success.
Actually it’s kinda ironic that you mention that Tol because that’s exactly what we’re seeing here when it comes to rewards.
Other companies stopped making everything strickly RNG years ago so essentially the grind system they have in place for anything in this game is something that started in 1999 really. (could be older) Even the boxes from the store thing, other game devs learned that putting more valuable items into these boxes and increasing the big items drop rates slightly improved their sales. Other game devs learned that activities in the game that give currency should be used for everything the player needs so they have a reward system for that currency.
We’re not seeing any of those things happen in this game with the essentials for gameplay. T6 mats are the hardest things to get in the game and instead of offering a direct buy solution they made even that RNG and on top of it all one of the boxes almost never drops anything (1 in 6 chance)
So it’s not that people want to grind to get what they need it’s currently the only method for people who don’t want to buy large sums of gems to convert to gold on a burst conversion day to get the things they need.
Anet knows this is a problem and they are working on the rewards system so I still have hope.
Oh and btw I hit DR when I’m simply doing my daily so that theory you had earlier doesn’t apply actually. Some people are basically stuck with permaDR and I just happen to have one of those accounts unfortunately.
Hahaha not the mmorpg.com ratings please! You can’t be serious using those as reference for the popularity of a MMORPG. Do you realize that list ranks failed games like Vanguard, Ryzom or Warhammer higher than the world’s first MMORPG World of Warcraft? Talk about a pile of rubbish.
Would Darkfail be free to play, with a cash shop, I would be less harsh, but it isn’t… those guys think they can sell their trash the same price than top quality games and then also ask an as high monthly sub as top quality games too.
I don’t slam independent developers for trying to make something new. I slam them for creating overpriced trash which gives a bad name to the whole MMORPG genre.F2P with a cash shop for a hardcore, pvp centric, FFA, full loot mmo? I think it is fairly obvious why that model would be highly unlikely to work.
And asking a monthly fee as high as AAA quality games isn’t any better. Would they ask no purchase price and something like $10/month, it would sound more reasonable since their game is a pile of bugged trash. Asking as much as a AAA quality game is arrogant and greedy. The OP paid for it… sadly.
I do have to agree with you there Korrigan!
MMORPG.com is a total waste of time when it comes to anything because they are completely biased. There’s this tendency in the media to not allow for any improvement and it shows especially there. The writers in this website in particular can find no wrong, believe that every game released is the best thing ever and their audience reflects that. They ban anyone who disagrees and offers a descenting opinion and critical thinking on anything. There’s also some mention by some of the more honest youtube personalities that the media when it comes to games has a stranglehold on the reviewers of these games by making it known behind closed doors that if they say anything negative especially around the time before launch that these game companies will cutoff access to future games (which most likely will cascade if they know enough people in the business) so we really don’t see hardcore honest reviews on everything.
I’m all for positive reviews but people have to remember there’s plenty of room for improvement even in a title as great as this. It’s why I’ve been pushing for a kitchen sink update because the ui/class bugs all need addressing before we go any further and now that the report of earnings is out we know NCsoft has the funds to do it.
Well, GW1 was less about acquiring gear and more about acquiring skills.
GW2 is less about acquiring gear, less about acquiring skills, and more about farming gold to buy items from the cash shop.
Actually farming gold to buy from the cash shop is cheap.
It’s farming gold to buy things from the overinflated manipulated TP prices that are expensive.
OP is right btw, what is the point of this title? In other games every expansion had a major enemy we had to defeat. In GW2 we defeated him in our personal story. Nothing came next. We don’t have towns or main cities being threatened yet there are these humungous dragons floating around out there threating everything. Heck even with the dead world in Cataclysm I think there was more of a feeling of threat from the enemy then in GW2 right now imo.
Where are the DEs for the main story threat? Why can’t we be saving the people of tyria from the dragons minions in other ways in more permanent settings? Why aren’t the homesteads attacked by these minions? Heck even LOTRO had a pvp setup so that players could play monsters and attack the real regular towns in the shire and the elven woods.
I just wished they would fix the Engi poison volley shot to actually hit straight, along the lines of the thief or mesmer burst pistol skills.
I would too but wouldn’t it be great if it were like our underwater skills in speed? It wouldn’t fire as slowly as our rifles do anymore if they fixed it.
Here is a rough mock-up of how I think it could work with earning the achievements. I think it would be cool to allow players to be able to see the items they’re working towards at the top.
Looks awesome to me. It would certainly motivate me a bit more to go and check it out.
Oddly I’m one of the people with the worst ever DR problem, it’s almost permaDR on my account all the time and this is from not farming mind you just running around doing my dailies.
I got a ticket. It fell out of one of those boxes that I opened I think it was # 33 or something. Anyways. RNG strikes again. (had a MF of about 147 at the time. not sure if that helped).
I like what you’re suggesting.
I would also like to add tho that they should revamp what they put into these boxes. In other titles that have been doing the box thing for longer, they place other types of desireables in these boxes. Stuff that’s worth alot. Like in NW they put two kinds of mounts, 1 pet, and a number of other items that were real game enhancers like service boosters (xp gold their form of major currency etc). Anyways I was thinking that Anet could do this to their boxes to make people want to find these things and open them more often. Once I got my ticket I stopped opening them and started selling them on the TP.
Pure gold. I wish they could start separating PvE from other aspects of the game more and more.
I can’t say how much I miss my lotro classes. Yes, it was a trinity game (and finding that tank was a true pain) but the classes I played weren’t tanks, nor healers or dpsers. I was playing the two supporters that had a nice mix of everything and could build for different roles. Something I expected to find in GW2 but sadly, didn’t.
I’ve found that as well. When I started playing before all of the nerfs across the board to save esporting, you could do anything and it was well placed in the pve part of the game to do these things. Then two nerfs came out.
Bosses and champs got CC immunity.
Condi damage was not only nerfed because people were QQing in WvW but it was also limited in it’s stacks from the beginning. No way to enhance it not class individuality in enhancing it nothing.
I miss my LM’s skill at placing an accelerant on the ground that both slowed my enemies and made burning and fire damage much more dangerous for them. When I tried to suggest it here people were up in arms about how imbalanced that would be, it’s not imbalanced it would bring back one of the special aspects of having condition focused damage in the first place, we have two glue attacks on the engineer and no one thought of this before? And no one thought of the lore from the beginning Charr zone where one has to go around picking thru gue to get certain things in the Charr starter zone (which is where I believe they got that as an attack).
Torment is fine for a beginning to help the bleeds do more, but where are the accelerants for burn damage? Even if it were a stacked item to carry with me in my pack it would be a welcome change to not having any way of increasing my damage directly other than boons. Heck they could even make it a trait.
Legendary is pointless imo for my engi. That’s one of the reasons why i didn’t bother, the other is the rewards system is really terrible. I don’t want to spend the next year and a half getting enough T6 materials just to make something. That’s just not an option.
Someone mentioned replacing kit backpacks with belts. I think Belts would be fantastic replacement for backpacks on engineers.
I would hope tho whatever they do, they take my suggestion to make them race specific, so that they look different per race (along with the turrets, would love for those to be race specific too in design).
Awareness a sortof stealth detection utility. Place it as a replacement on some of the armors for one of the three stats (2 out of the 6 if it’s ascended).
Alacrity controls the speed at which the #1 abilities fire off. Surely we can have a well balanced system on gear for increasing the firing speeds of skills. This would improve overall the weapons that are really horrendous at firing speeds. (pistols, longbows, etc).
I would also like to add that they should get rid of all of the mystic toilet recipes for armor (not weapons) so that crafting would be viable again. Having a crafting system that has 0 end game purpose in the game beyond the 1 time xp boost for leveling and the 1 time use for making one’s own gear doesn’t make any sense whatsoever.
I would also like to have the option (since we haven’t seen the new rewards system yet) to find T6 mats from salvaging blues greens and rares. This would help greatly with the manufacturing of runes and sigils and would bring them down out of the crazy-insane-in-the-membrane price zones we’re seeing with some of them.

Housing should be in the open world, not in some personal instance. Anet should have a look at ArcheAge if they want inspiration for housing.
Be careful what you wish for…
GW2 maps go for the “detail over quantity” approach. If players were to build random structures here and there, the world wold be full. The way ArcheAge solves that is that there are area’s where you can buy or hire a space to build your house. So you are very free to build where you like but you can not build literally everywhere in the world. New maps could be build around that idea.
That would certainly help I think AoC did something similar where there were zones that were made specifically for guild halls cept these zones were basically PVP only since this part of the game was built around guilds attacking other guild halls.
I vote for a dimension style home system. It was the best out there ever built.
I agree with Fiontar I don’t see GW2 lasting really with Wildstar coming without having these types of things updated in this game. Use the profits you’ve made already for this game, it’s definitely necessary or you’ll have an exodus on your hands I’m sure of it.
I’ve seen you make variations of this “GW2 is going to be dead soon” in so many threads I’ve lost count. The sad part is you often make them in such jarringly off-topic ways it looks like you’re attempting to derail the topic at hand. Criticism I don’t mind, incessant negativity I do. If you dislike this game so much you’d probably be a lot happier finding a game you do enjoy playing instead of hanging around here trying to convince us all the game is bad and/or dying.
The mmo world is a market. If they can’t adapt to the market the game will die stating that fact doesn’t make it incessantly negative. I’m sorry you can’t handle the truth but they are way way overdue for an UI and features update and NCsoft isn’t helping by sending their money elsewhere. Letting them know that this is not acceptable is hardly derailing the topic at hand.
Housing is a feature you know.
It would certainly help with acquiring runes from Karma gear that’s for sure.
The attack speed underwater is way faster then it is on land. Can we get someone to balance that so that our land speed matches the water attack speed. I’m talking about things like bomb kits and the shots fired from weapons like EG. It’s like superfast.
The speed at which we drop bombs underwater should be the basis for how fast our pistols shoots on land.
The speed for throwing grenades underwater should be the speed at which we drop bombs on land.
This is very much needed, it’s obvious that our land attacks are extremely slow compared to underwater attacks since their change months ago.
I vote for a dimension style home system. It was the best out there ever built.
I agree with Fiontar I don’t see GW2 lasting really with Wildstar coming without having these types of things updated in this game. Use the profits you’ve made already for this game, it’s definitely necessary or you’ll have an exodus on your hands I’m sure of it.
put hugely important events where you fight dragons that could destroy everything, make people wait an extra hour and ten minutes just for the boss to show up.
If living story is consistent, it pretty much becomes permanent content only with more variety. You can expect the temporary dungeons to come back in fractals, so there’s that.
What is so special about this living story content? It’s nothing but a gated quest, they can’t seriously expect to keep people playing this game by waiting 1 month to have another quest where it’s essentially “kill this” or “press f to burn/activate/shock/whatever 500 times”.
It’s definitely a problem I’m glad people are starting to see that. It’s not supposed to be this way. They were supposed to be adding permanent content after launch which is what we were promised in their prelaunch interviews and they weren’t supposed to be dungeons.
Now I do like that they are adding these dungeons in these temporary content to the fractals so people can go back and experience these events as part of the lore of the game.
However , this in no way is actually what people were expecting for the open world content updates monthly, and people should not be complacent about it. This past month they got a free pass from those like me because it was actually a revamp of the original Tyria holiday system, but now it’s time for the big boy content. We need more DE’s more meta events and they all need to be permanent and we need them monthly.
Hire some contractors, get some money from NCsoft from the money you’ve already earned we don’t care what you have to do this is what your customers want. It’s not right to keep putting this stuff out there when you should be doing what you said you were going to do.
I definitely agree with you there OP. I tried fooling around with LOTRO was completely and utterly disappointed. I’m actually shocked that these older games are still in business without bringing their UI with the times in many ways. And I hate having to go thru and play catchup with both leveling and gear with the antiquated questing system.
Even games like STO CO and NW all have systems of improved leveling choices so that they don’t hold you back with the use of the quest system. (they still use it but they’ve adjusted the rewards numbers so you’re not standing there doing that for weeks at a time like what I experienced in LOTRO).
WoW at least had the heirloom system to help with that but from what I’ve heard even they have trouble with their newest expac causing people to not want to play when they’ve returned because all of their friends are already max level and they have to go thru the entire process for the last five levels. They did have the option for getting 1 max level toon if they bought the special edition but still that doesn’t help for long time toons you’ve played forever.
It’s just something they’ll have to fix in these other titles it’s going to take time tho it won’t happen overnight.
With all of the good things that GW2 has brought to the industry I would hope that they’d learn that lesson as well and update their UI in the ways that have already been pioneered by other companies. There’s alot of good things here but they have ALOT of work to do with their UI to make it modern. Things other games have had for years should be in this title and we’re waiting with bated breath to see what happens with Anet next.
Things like:
LFG (WoW)
Guild Perks (WoW)
Global Map Event Locations (FireFall)
Dual Spec (Rift/WoW)
Outfitter/Cosmetic Wardrobes (LOTRO/WoW/Rift)
These things are simply essential to any modern game imo, not having them is like not having power locks or air conditioning in your car. Sure you don’t have to have those but they have long become part of the standard expected UI elements in every mmo.

I would so support this one.
I would also like to request that they make the salvage kits stack to 100.
I think the torment thing should have been spread out. Engineers for example are stuck in PVE using condition heavy builds no matter what the situation because we have no viable burst DPS due to severe class design flaws in PVE. Until they really fix that they needed to make torment style enhancement to other condi damage types and put them on the engineer. (not bleeding but burning purhaps since that doesn’t stack).
Trust me warriors don’t need buffs of any kind. They need nerfs especially in PVE.
Most hilarious quote ever.
Oh please. Everyone knows warriors are OP in PVE, that’s why all the PVE farmer groups run 4 of them.
Actually the usual team set up your probably thinking of is 3 Warriors in beserker gear, 1 Mesmer and a Guardian as the anchor.
A specific setup with a specific play style that was designed to farm a path in COF does not constitute an overpowered class.
If you think it does, then by all means roll a warrior and run around in WvW, tank sungeon bosses or Orr farming in Zerker gear auto attacking whilst bashing button 2 and let us know how you get on. Thanks
Nope but when a single class can run Arah solo there’s a big big problem, they still haven’t addressed that one yet.
