Why do you rangers suck in Dungeons?

tigirius.9014

It’s mostly due to the AI and pet weakness actually so their defenses definitely need buffing because some bosses use AOEs alot so running behind the boss doesn’t help, they don’t move when in an AOE zone so they die, and AOE’s are generally OP anyways in a game with almost ALL AOEs so pets of all kinds, turrets, spirits, summons, etc need a global immunity to AOE damage I’m voting 80% across the board.

But it’s also the bleed/condition stack problem.

Three things:

There’s always room for improvement.

The more choices the better.

This game doesn’t have that many choices especially for rewards and progression not to mention the age old system of slowing progression is in full force in a game without a subscription, especially when it comes to alts.

(I’m trying to be patient waiting for the news about rewards but I find that I really would like some more good news)

Coffer drop rate change from Holos?

in Dragon Bash

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

But a ninja change to drop rates would make sense, since the coffers drop tickets and NCsoft is all about making money. They might wanna boost the lottery boxes sales.

1) all but ticket drop from coffer hold no gem value ;
2) ticket from coffer are really rare, so reducing rate of tickets per coffer would be undetectable ;
3) reducing the very high drop rate from coffer would be immediatly called for and displease customers ;
Hence, from a mercantile point of view, reducing coffer drop rate wouldn’t make sense. A reduction in ticket drop rate would.

People still being displeased because they can’t understand RNG is sadly another effect, on which they hold no control (from the predicate that ANet want to use RNG, that is).

Let me reitterate, RNG would work like this in every mmo if it were truly as simple as Random chance. Computers cannot yet perform truly random algorithms as any computer technologist worth his weight in water will tell you it’s just not possible yet.

So, this argument is as wrong as it is old. We should look for other explanations because it doesn’t cover everything, especially with the evidence to the contrary where there’s been loot issues since November if it were truly a delusion then people would have reported these things since launch but no they started originally in November (right around the time of a change in the drop rates of Unid’d Dyes) which means something around that time started happening which lead to the killcredit bug, which led to the ecto salvage rate etc etc. Now since we’ve seen these types of things before, it’s got to be some kind of malfunction because it doesn’t make sense to make their players mad by doing this consciously, so yes the reporting this to the devs is not only necessary and right.

Doesn’t matter your opinion when there’s evidence that things have gone wrong with both loot and salvages in the past, it could be happening again.

The rates from the nodes definitely changed.

However the drops from creatures has not at least for me. Maybe it’s a bug? I just got candy like crazy yesterday but 1 box out of ten node kills. I don’t think it was intentional but we’ve seen this kind of thing before in the loot system.

"Play The Way You Want"

It’s pretty simple to me. It’s why sandbox PVE games are so great, they allow people when built from the ground up to allow for as many options as possible to do whatever they wish with rewards with satisfaction and with balance. It’s no secret that the most choices in any game makes that game more popular, when you restrict content restrict rewards restrict choices and design a game to only have a small number of choices for activities you end up with lots more complaints.

I’ve seen it in alot of games. Every time it’s happened in the elephant in the room it’s when they content stopped. It’s when their ui enhancement stopped, it’s when the activities beyond what they had already had ready in their expac content they’d prepared to release over a series of patches each time ended.

In Sandbox PVE games it’s always been about enough activities and perks to prevent stagnation and the continual improvement of the game in all aspects. We’ve yet to see their version of the kitchen sink patch, I’m hoping that will change soon that would definitely be a large step forward and until NCsoft starts pouring money into this title instead of the other games it will remain stagnant for the most part and no amount of temporary content will fix that it will still only be a bandaid for a larger problem.

All good comments so far.

The problem of course is once you make an area harder, people will want more reward for doing it, and that’s where the problem lies.

Anet doesn’t want everyone hanging out in Orr. If you create harder zones, and you don’t reward people for doing them, people won’t do them. That’s already been proven…and yes, I know some people will, but not nearly enough.

Honestly I don’t really see a solution to this issue.

Oh I have a long list of solutions for the lack of rewards in this title trust me, gathered from years of mmo gameplay of 15 mmos and 5 2d hacknslash and 2 RTS titles. There’s penty they could be doing.

As far as the creatures go, if they go in this direction they had better make sure the classes are correctly functioning and elegant beforehand of they will have a serious backlash. You see not all classes are balanced or elegant for PVE some classes have multiple sets of boon builder choices in their design, they have well placed mini traits and have great traits to allow for relatively high DPS and defense similtaneously, and then there are classes like Engineers where they can’t decide if they are adventurer dps classes or soldier defense classes, the traits are all over the place (grand master for 50% endurance regen?) and nary a burst option available complete with the only means by which to travel well and found in every single build 10 points in the final line because we don’t have a 25% run speed option on a gadget.

I don’t mind harder content I really don’t but they have a long way to go before these classes are ready. (Ranger/Necro too)

Also there’s something they haven’t done that others have. Heroic dungeons. If they really wanted to open up dungeon running they need to be able to select which one for story or paths, they need to improve the rewards not hinder them bye bye DR, and they need to allow for this in the personal story and make the personal story dungeons repeatable.

And finally they need to do something about their trinity long long before they ever decide to do this as well. Support and CC need to have a better placei n the game, they need to redo alot of the support skills, engineers for example don’t need 4 separate regen skills and all support classes need a direct heal of some kind not all AOEs all the time some of the cone attacks could be converted but they also need to finally and at long last fix the cone attacks to make them work properly which they still haven’t done they just stuck a bandaid on them.

But I think the game does match the manifesto. So do other people. You and some other people don’t. So what can you do?

Reasonable expectations help. Some people don’t have them.

Swinging swords repeatedly means grind, 95%+ of Gw2 is grind optional or not play is not a valid alternative..

Seriously the Manifesto was a lie plain and simple to say otherwise is also a lie.

That’s what I’m seeing, the argument of “you have a choice, you either play like this or not at all” being anywhere near a choice of playing how you like to play mmo’s is a farse plain and simple.

I agree I was one of the people who complained when they made the November changes to the game with the promise of gated content (agony), a new tier of armor where there was nothing missing in the first place, and a very large number of pre-launch promised projects were put on indefinite hold.

Meanwhile there doesn’t seem to be anything happening for anything other then the rewards system to correct these problems because we’re seeing that their bosses aren’t providing their team with enough money to make the corrections to that singular mistake (or the massive list of bugs in the class forums).

So what are we supposed to think?

I posted a forum thread full of suggestions to improve the overall UI in every aspect of the game save PVP because I don’t pvp so I generally don’t know what people need for that, everyone seems to like it, but here it is a whole year later and very little has been taken from that list and anything done with it. Especially on the guild side. And I’m not saying my suggestions are the best but everyone seems to like them and others have posted many of the same things, as well as lists of their own that you can easily go back and see haven’t been touched replied to or implemented into the game that would make it so much better. Eventually there comes a time when you have to ask, why, why haven’t these things been done yet?

@Vayne – Yeah it’s so hard to WP and all. I mean the massive expense and physical effort to click so many buttons. :P

THAT wasn’t my point at all but you singled it out. I’m sorry I touched a nerve.
I do my daily every day that I can. Sometimes it’s all I do. And recently there have been days that I’ve had extra time and just logged out when the daily was done. That feeling is disappointing.

The time gating is at issue more so than the perceived inconvenience of doing the daily. I don’t think the OP was complaining about the difficulty and neither was I.
Or at least I didn’t mean to come across as such.

I tried to make the point that for certain parts of the game ascended is needed and that telling people they don’t need it, isn’t the answer. Also that time gating gets tedious for the players and it feels contrived. Like something they tossed together quickly to slow people down. Ascended, if truly planned as a intermediary step between exotic and legendary, should have been fully implemented from the day they put it in the game. THOSE were the major points.

Since the daily started, I’ve done the daily most days. I have had enough for three ascended amulets with monthlies. I’ve only bought two.

I just don’t see that this is a major problem. I don’t need ascended amulets on every character. For most people, it’s not a problem.

I agree it’s a problem for a small percentage of people, but MMOs are made for the masses.

It’s not just a problem for dailies it’s a problem for how they setup DR. you port and you port sometimes to places that don’t have what you’re looking for. It’s no secret that their number of money sinks outweighs the ability to have income or rewards in the game that’s why they are working on it.

I agree with him it’s annoying having to port all over the place the regional location thing is for the birds especially when it comes to events it’s just like the group events thing, I’ve never chosen that one because groups aren’t always available and they make it counterintuitive with their chat system banning you if you post LFG too much or you’re forced to use an outside of the game website because an essential UI element is missing from the game for almost a year now.

Oh and about Anet changing the game, they’ve done it before because they knew it wasn’t right the way the dailies were before, nor were the rewards which says to me that yes they know there are these major issues. The question is will they change these things in time.

Just Nerf Warrior PVE Already

in Suggestions

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

I think we’re going to see a huge turnout against warriors getting a nerf because since this class has enjoyed such a great year of favoritism when it comes to class balance it’s the #1 class that’s being played so naturally people will come out in droves against a nerf even tho truthfully they know it needs it in PVE. The people who arguing against it have spent large amounts of time in this class because they know it’s OP. It’s just like engineers in PVP, they absolutely don’t want engis to have any kind of real power in PVP so they’ll do anything to convince the devs to keep engis midrange and weaker then the rest. Someone just posted recently that grenades are op for sPVP, seriously, you haven’t convinced them to nerf that enough already and I suspect it was one of the warrior players looking at his posts.

The design of the combat is only a problem with condition damage support and CC not being affective against bosses. That doesn’t solve the problem of warriors being the #1 played classe because it has a 1 hit wonder skill, and it can run 5 mans by itself, and it can just run thru enemies in Orr like they’re not there unlike all of the other classes.

Karma Vendor for T6 mats

in Suggestions

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

Yes I agree. Much like obsidian shards, they should only be available from karma merchants that require a bit of work to get to, like the temple of Balthazar.
Perhaps spread these materials out between various different temples in orr to solve 2 problems at once.

1. Available T6 mats from Karma merchants.
2. Bring people back to Orr.

My only concern is that if they implemented this, then T6 Mats would be made Account Bound for the simple fact they don’t want to have an exploit for converting karma to gold, which would mean lower level players trying to craft will not be able to craft exotic items as they won’t be able to buy the T6 Mats from the TP.

Well honestly I don’t think they will unless they used the mystic toilet and I have a very easy solution for that, take all gear recipes out of the mystic toilet because it wasn’t ever meant as a replacement for crafting in the first place. It’s been a thorn in the side of the real crafters for a long time now. (I mean all gear except mytic weapons because that still forces people to wait to gain enough of those coins and skill points to make one). Even then they could make the mystic weapons unsalvageable as a restriction.

I do like the karma from temple vendors idea tho however aside from the initial burst of people who enjoy manipulating the market, there wouldn’t be much use for the T6 mats in the TP if everyone were in Orr keeping the temple open so the TP wouldn’t make much money at all from these items, they’d become like many of the other items 1 copper well below what they normally cost now and they’d no longer be sellable anyways. The market would cure itself.

The thing is that they should, unless absolutely mandatory, never hunt down “criminals” by punishing legit players as well.

As it is, the system is punishing legitimate players quite a lot… Really think they should reconsider some of their choices in this area.

Actually a recent post from one of the devs mentioned that they are looking into relaxing the parameters for DR, but I don’t recall what thread it was in. Generally speaking, if you remain in the same area for an extended period of time and/or perform the same actions repeatedly, you will have more problems than someone who moves around and does different things.

This is because bots are usually programmed to perform the same actions over and over and to remain in one area indefinitely. So don’t act like a bot.

I’d like to read that one because so far the only reply I’ve received has been something more along the lines of revamping the rewards system/salvage system for some of the T6 materials.

If they are doing both that would be nice. I hope they are checking the code for that Wi Flag stuff that could be happening as well because between the two of them they’re making people leave who can’t get a single thing to drop.

The two co-founders of ArenaNet, Patrick Wyatt and Jeff Strain, that left moved to NCSoft West in 2008 (which they subsequently left, as well). Mike O’Brien is still with us. =) That was long before Guild Wars 2 was released, and has had little impact on the game now, I believe. NCSoft has owned ArenaNet since 2002, and Guild Wars did quite well, considering.

Are you sure about that? Because I’ve been following the statements since the beginning when I turned my attention towards this game about what they were originally talking about doing and things like cosmetic armors only and all open world only (0 dungeons) comes to mind instantly.

Then as time progressed as launch crept closer they made massive changes to their design talk, like adding armor that had stats and then there’s what happened in November with both FotM and Ascended gear (where there was no gap before they made one and then claimed it had been there all along). I’m sorry man but that seems like someone stopped or left the scene sometime after the whole thing began.

Seems to me something happened and I do think that NCsoft is very much in control of the economy of this game, I mean seriously look at what they’ve done with the profits. I’ve seen companies take money from a highly profitable venture before but never like this, they at least usually pour money into the moneymaker to improve it for the customers before doing that, that’s not what NCsoft has done, they’ve tried to squeeze blood from a turnip with constant nerfs to loot, algorithms that don’t function like other games when it comes to drops (which I am suspicious of, it’s weird that in 2013 we’re seeing a 2004 style algorithm in a game this modern), with DR that actually cuts off loot eventually and rather quickly.

I know it sounds tinfoil hat here but cmon after months and months of no one checking there’s gotta be something going on, heck it took 5 months to look into the killcredit bug and I’m still convinced it was due to dungeoneers actually not seeing a chest appear and complaining about it.

We’ll see if they do good by revamping the rewards system so that it’s not only relatively easy to acquire what we need and quick just by doing the things we normally do (events metas etc) then It will change my mind but until then I can’t help but wonder sometimes if it’s not a bug, if it’s really a sound business plan in some execs drawer somewhere. I’m hoping it will be a nice change I really am but everytime I get my hopes up with this title I get let down lately, yeah know?

Not to mention there’s also something else to consider, the enormous amount of Magic Find % that one with the weird perma DR problem needs to get anything to drop at all in the game. It’s like they want at least 300% or more to get anything.

Rampager’s gear, full stack of might, a flamethrower and my engi is doing good.

The same thing that’s still wrong with cone attacks across the entire game, they never fixed the miss bug they put a tiny patch on it to make the zone that is considered a hit bigger but it still misses quite often. I too am tired of seeing patch notes that say something is fixed when it’s not.

I like him a whole lot more than I like my 80th level warrior.

Nah I was more of a bomb guy. And I love rifle. I don’t particularly mind elixir gun in certain situations, either.

Oh, grenades underwater I still love. Just not a fan of ground targetting.

I remember them all, I remember when I could press the #1 skill for grenades in Orr and kill anything with three hits. That was awesome, now everything takes at least 15 grenades to kill even in burst dps armor. They seriously need to go back and review the things they nerfed in PVE and fix them because they did alot of damage to engis in PVE by making it 1 patch to change it all instead of what they are doing now by separating the values of PVE PVP WVW.

I’d suggest that should be their very next patch.

Fix Condi damage values changes in September, fix grenade nerfs, fix pistol cast times there’s alot there they messed up along the way. (in PVE only I mean)

I’d also ask them to put back two of the changes to Kit Refinement for PVE the instacaltrops for toolkit and the AOE heal field for EG.

Then Proceed to find a group for fractals a dungeon I have run 9001 times so I can have a shot at a ring and my anet issued 1 pristine relic per day. Look down at my keyboard and think well guess i have no reason to be online anymore till tomorrow, but hey in 2 months ill have a piece of jewelry that is 5% better than the one that took me 5 minutes to get.

This is the endgame in GW2… doing dailies. Who would of thought a company could take one of the worst things introduced in world of warcraft and build a game around it.

Are they ever going to make this game interesting past leveling up and exploring?

Incoming legion of fanboys to tell you this game isn’t for you and you are playing it wrong.

To answer your question: Maybe, but we the players have to keep being vocal about how displeased most of us are with the end game.

I agree, they mentioned something about a large rewards patch coming.

Not sure when but we have been talking in the forums about it possibly being something to do with salvaging, doing events like the temples in Orr, maybe something to do with karma vendors, no one knows at this point so it’s up in the air.

I’d love to see all of the above honestly. If they’d just open up vendors for karma like they had in the second beta where many of the rare items could be bought with karma it would definitely losen things up a bit. It would certainly release the stranglehold on the TP that these few all day all week auctioneers have on the economy.

As far as rewards someone in the suggestions forum suggested that PVE content like freeing the temples in Orr should give world bonuses to skills, I suggested why not skills and loot drops, that way more people would get involved in the areas we hardly see anyone in anymore like the mid level zones. If they improved those metas in those zones and made them matter to the rest of the PVE playerbase in bonuses and boons than we’d have the world filled again with players doing these things because the reward would directly reflect the time spent doing the things they already want us to do instead of farming.

It’s a good idea imo.

They need a ui so the players can make that decision. Right now if someone wins a lottery of gold and the GM or officer sends it to them in the mail their account can be banned. They need a system of doing this that won’t flag so that players won’t have issues with this. They can track the mailings but they need to change what they track. The way to handle this is to see if a guild is inviting people just long enough to send large chunks of gold and then sending those guildies on their way when they are done. That’s how they’d probably do it if they implemented this change and it would make it easier to catch the gold farmers and ban all of the accounts in those guilds.

Meanwhile legit guilds would be left alone for mailing a single winning amount to a player.

Verticle progression:missing things

Rewards: Killing monsters basically doesn’t drop loot, so why even do it? The Example of this was when “dungeon running” was possible. You run past as many mobs as you can, kill the boss, and get the “rewarding content” of Tokens. As it stands, the only meaningful loot is high ranked crafting materials. It would seem that they don’t want people playing there game, given how “rewarding” it is to do normal content.

For many of us not even the T6 mats drop much less the bags that contain them so we’re out. It’s part of that Wi Flag/Perma DR problem seen by alot of people since November that no one’s ever checked on or taken seriously, meanwhile people affected by it are getting fed up and leaving for other games that don’t do that to the players. I hope their Rewards revamp will solve it I really do.

The temporary content thing is old as well. We need permanent stuff both personal stories more solo dungeons more exploration ways of getting rewarded. the ability to do dailies on multiple characters not 1 per account.

As for Progression, I believe I’m one of the few that remembered how they promised prelaunch to have armor sets with 0 stat increases that they’d all be cosmetic only.

The problem with that is there doesn’t seem to be enough of the carrot on a stick.

I also agree with you that they need hidden or earnable abilities. I would suggest they take a page from their own book for skills that are earned in GW1 and a page from Rift’s book in the post max level progression called Planar Attunement. Minor buffs and bonuses one can earn by just playing the game and gaining levels. They already have that built into this game, so why not make it worth something so people can further customize their characters a bit more. They can easily cut it off from PVP so it doesn’t become a problem there and make it PVE only.

I personally would love to see them revamp some problematic issues in the skill system. Having run speed bonuses for only two classes for example, every class should have at least 1 skill that allows them the 25% run speed because let’s face it, they aren’t ever going to add mounts so we might as well have this as an option and on the engineer side of things it would make it possible to increase our skills a bit since we’re stuck in every build getting the Speedy Kits just to travel.

I like how you said content locks haven’t occurred in this game “yet” because many of us saw them heading towards that with the implementation of the Agony gear. Content in dungeons being cutoff from players who don’t have the right gear already happens on a daily basis due to there not being a balanced system both with classes and roles, it already happens due to the design of their bosses. So I can totally see this happening very easily with Agony, people would not only be shunned due to their class but also due to their lack of agony resist gear. Never a good thing.

I agree, it would solve alot of problems. 2100 karma sounds about right. It would also allow the crafters the ability to have access to the types of materials needed to make runes and sigils at long last. Zerker gear wouldn’t be 450% higher in price than everything else on the market and it would break the stranglehold some of the richer players have and use to manipulate the prices in the TP. I would totally see it having an impact (for the best) in the game. Currently we only have WvW that gives world bonuses, but it would be great if PvE players could have a similar impact in the world. The bonuses could be decided by Anet, but the idea is great!

It would be awesome. It would mean people would actually have a reason to free the temples.

I would also suggest that they add this to the rewards system, say a server wide increase in the types of drops depending on which temple is freed. It would improve the rewards system and make it even more likely that temples be freed because who doesn’t like getting loot or more gold?

I’d rather they add a check to not sell function. I have bags that make things invisible to the vendors but things I normally get that are valuable often aren’t hidden and it can cause problems when selling after a run.

I think that might work for some things tho.

A proposed change to MF to benifit all.

I agree it’s actually a problem even for those of us who solo most things. It weakens some classes who aren’t properly balanced in PVE so it makes it impossible to farm properly with enough time to gain any kind of benefit.

If we go into the anti-farming rewards system, it will still harm the solo players as chests won’t be affected by the mf, so we really shouldn’t have a mf until they make it possible to attach mf runes or something to armor that already exists like putting it on all of the crafted gear and all of the karma gear.

It also causes problems for weapons because instead of sigils that help some classes do extra damage, there’s instead a sigil for luck.

So there’s alot to work on it’s not a simple thing to fix because they also have to watch for exploits.

I think they definitely need to reign in the size of the requirement too requiring 200-300% just to get something to drop is quite crazy as well. We need a better system alround for rewards I hope they fixit soon with a simple yet effective system for rewards that cut out the requirement of having a weak gear set for any purpose. It doesn’t even work in open world environments much less the dungeons.

DPS thieves and elementalists can easily take a spot or 2 without lowering the party dps at all. Go look at DPS ele builds and DPS thief w/Sbow + warrior Lbow F1. Also three warriors brings 9 might, you might want to check your math on 3×3 again.

Warriors having the highest survivability… that’s a joke right? Ignoring the fact that necros have the highest health pool in the game, have you seen what you can do with rangers, guardians, and d/d eles? Warriors do have low survivability compared to the other classes, you’re getting caught up on hp and armor values which mean nothing in a sustained fight.

It’s no joke in PVE. It’s not just the health pool in PVE armor class actually matters. The better the armor the better the defense.

I do believe you are mixing PVP and PVE because in PVE they run thru everything like a truck. That’s not normal or typical of how the other classes play.

Just Nerf Warrior PVE Already

tigirius.9014

I think you should buff other classes instead of nerfing the warrior. 3-4 Warrior + 1-2 XY is quite fun to run.

No they need a nerf or two. We’re not calling for a ginormous nerf just something to balance their crazy burst damage output.

Other classes need a boost in burst like Engineers in PVE for example, and they need to look at making DoT’s on conditions actually crit more often and do more crit damage which would bring that type of DPS up on par with burst DPS.

I would hope they are going to do something about bosses being immune to CC 100% of the time and some of the healing elements (we need at least 1 each skills in each class that can heal have a direct heal of some kind that doesn’t involve a 1 time burst or an AOE stationary ability. For example, changing the EG on engineers so that Fumigate will not only remove conditions but it would do a stacking direct heal when used) There’s a problem with Boss AI that seem to know exactly where these stationary AOE heal zones are and they place their AOE hotzones right on top of those, this doesn’t improve the gameplay and like the immunities to CC makes it impossible to play a support class when fighting bosses.

I’d love to know if they are fixing this as well. Most games have a “Kitchen Sink” patch that infuses the game with new life by enhancing the ui with elements that were missing but necessary from the start of launch.

I hope a dev can give us a reply on this or if they have posted something like this already with a reveal that they are working on something like this say in Reddit, that someone who uses Reddit would be kind enough to post a link.

Actually as I never experienced those I didn’t think about them. They did exist in games I’ve played like AoC but I never participated because I never had fun with those.

But yeah, for those who enjoy PVP GvG would be great. I’d love to see those types of things too especially the guild Lottery especially since they have the problem with flagging guild leader’s accounts for sending gold to a player who’s won the guild lotto. It would certainly fix misunderstandings.

I would love for them to add new systems to do in the dailies that would go along with what we normally do everyday. There are days when 1-2 items are crazy to try to complete and of course the randomness brings these items up all at once which doesn’t help.

Unfortunately the type of players that play simply to see lore, to watch the scenery and who aren’t interested in the rewards system at all are the minority. I place those players in the same category as RPers who have the same lack of concern for the rewards system or for the problems this game faces with it’s rewards. It’s not a bad thing at all but it doesn’t help with the fight to make the game the best it can be and to fix the problems the rest of the community who does care faces on a week to week basis.

I have the same wanderlust, no real focus when I get in there, I just go from place to place trying to finish my daily and gather a few things I know I’ll need. I do alot of events whenever I’m in a the area, but like the majority of the PVE players I expect that the rewards match the time spent on the game. You never hear dungeoneers saying that they love to run dungeons for just the boss fights, they are always in there with the purpose of getting rewarded, and that’s what most of us are talking about when we talk about the open world events not only not providing a reward that fits the time but not providing the types of rewards that are necessary to make the consumables/enhancements we need to play.

I’m extremely casual. I’ve wanted fishing in this game since before launch, which wouldn’t provide a single thing but ambient fun time and maybe a few cosmetics props and some achievements but I too know when somethings wrong with the rewards system.

I’m just happy they are trying to work on it.

What gets me is they changed retaliation and condition damage and confusion to be less powerful then they were originally, those things were the best defense imo against this sortof thing, it and the addition of the balance to the PVP traits for every class made it possible for more builds to be available in PVP and kept the burst DPS tendency from taking over. Now not so much. I think it’s starting to backfire on them.

But if you don’t like the look of the “Predator”…I can see the OP’s point.

It’s not about liking the Predator’s look or not… But it’s a freakin’ SNIPER RIFLE! Engies shot from hip… Can you think anything more stupid than shooting with a precision rifle like it’s a kitten shotgun?

I agree with you there. Even if it were a shotgun that would hurt immensely shooting from the hip all day!

Colin, Engineer weapons and kit skins need more love.
You made new weapon skins for southsun AND dragonbash – but nothing for engineers???

In fact Engineers and Necromancers are the 2 professions that need more skins suited to their class IMO.
Engineers for all their cogs and gears, turrets, elixirs and elixir guns don’t have specific armour choices to reflect their proffesion.
We need new flamethrower and elixir gun looks, new back packs, at least 3 armour sets heavily focused on an engineer look – but NOT locked to engineers.
cheers,
JF.

I don’t know if it is legit or not, but some data-miners on reddit claimed to have unearthed some armor mesh (the polygons that make up the shape, not the actual texture/skin) that appears to have a steam-punk theme to it. I don’t know if it’s real or not, but if it is I just have two thoughts.

1. When do we get this?

2. Please for the love of god don’t make it another freaking RNG box.

Oh god yes I hope not I do not want the steam punk outfit to be another RNG box I just bought some of those gems to get the new look.

Altho I wish they’d change engis back to Heavy armor so we could enjoy the better looking armor. Heavy has lots more gears on it.

I don’t think the war/guard/mesmer meta is that hard to fix.

Buff Ranger, Necro, Engineer PVE damage.

Nerf Warrior damage significantly, and/or remove their ability to stack might/provide fury.

Give another class (engie probably) time warp/portal.

That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever read. In what way is it an improvement to just make a different class that can optimally handle content clearly designed for zerker facerolling? How does that fix the content?

“This toxic waste is too toxic in my backyard! Put it in another backyard!”

Actually there’s been months of documented Warrior favoritism in PVE it’s one of the most powerful classes in the game. Warrior/Guardian/Mesmer all have solo dungeon runs documented on PVE youtube videos all over the net right now. If balance were really there they wouldn’t be able to just faceroll 5 man dungeons solo even at the highest skill.

And yes Engis need more boons, Condi damage needs to be brought up to par with burst dps, pet AIs and pet AOE damage resist needs a huge boost so they stay alive long enough to be usefull in PVE, and finally CC and healing need big boosts to make them useful again pre-boss immunity buff usefulness.

Fairly certain I’ve seen every class solo lupi so no, that doesn’t prove anything. Your suggestions even prove what I said. The solution isn’t to just make some other class better than warrior at running full zerker and sitting at point blank running their max dps rotations. If they did just buff raw damage output of some classes and nerf the damage output of the warrior class enough then speed run groups would just run a different class, that’s all that would change. The classes don’t need much of a change in pve, the game itself does.

Your statement proves to me you haven’t played the other classes. Five minutes in the skin of a level 80 engineer, a level 80 necromancer, a level 80 ranger with exotics specced into condition damage or pet heavy builds in PVE shows anyone paying attention long enough that there are serious problems. Also, Warriors were the very first class ever to run dungeons solo and the very first video of warriors running in live game was Arah solo. I know I posted it.

So seriously, try not to pull the wool over the eyes of the people next time you post. It’s old. Others have done it for months now. Everyone knows warriors do way too much damage in PVE and have yet to receive more then a slap on the wrist when it comes to nerfs. It’s time.

In order for balance to be restored those that are OP need to be nerfed while those who are weaker need to be buffed, that’s how balance works. You can’t simply make all classes burst DPS zerker builds doing the same damage the warrior puts out now with the same hp and defenses because guess what, every class would be able to solo Arah if that were done.

Go to pvp, the warrior is far from OP but none of their skills function differently there. Guess why.

This argument is invalid now that they are successfully separating the DPS adjustments between PVE PVP WVW with every new patch.

You obviously have absolutely no idea how balance works….

It’s funny to see the Warrior hate crowd scream to nerf Warriors so they deal no more damage and buff all the other classes…

Because that would solve so many issues. Oh no, it won’t, Warriors will just be replaced by the next best DPS class.

No no no I’ve never ever played anything in my life, I’ve not seen what all of these other developers have done with their games or made mental notes as to why those things were done. I haven’t ever seen companies change all of the classes from an all burst DPS system to an all DoT system or any of the other plethora of things that they’ve done over the 14 years of playing 15 mmos. I couldn’t possibly know anything from experience about what works best and what doesn’t.

Buffing all other classes to be up on the warrior’s OP status would mean that every class would be able to run all 5 man content solo. That’s exactly how bad it is. Denying it won’t change it.
