For every 50 people claiming to have spent hundreds of dollars getting nothing, approximately one may be telling the truth.

I think you’re giving their RNG algorithm too much credit there. Might wanna shorten that to 20 people.

The boxes in the open world btw are now replacing bags and T5/T6 loot so it’s useless trying to get anything while this is going on. If they had been a secondary attachment to loot it would probably make more sense.

We’re seeing three problems with the loot system. We’re seeing an algorithm issue where some people get loot all the time and some don’t, so much for individual loot tables. We’re seeing DR interfere with the looting of temporary mobs in events.

I actually wonder if DR is at the root of the inconsistency given the amount of bugs in the game and that it seems to be quite complex and effectively individualises players loot drops.

I do too. It’s either DR or it’s the algorithm but either way it’s not pretty. Either the loot algorithm is making it lopsided and DR is contributing or DR is the culprit and not only stays on the account but also occurs entirely too early.

OP has a valid point. All high end open world drops have been nerfed. Orr, ML, Frostgorge. There is no where left to get a good return of T5/T6 crafting supplies for a reasonable amount of time spent. 1-2 T6 an hour is not reasonable.

There is a reason there was a ‘dust crisis’. There will be similar ‘crisis’ very soon.

And to top it off, now you have to compete with these dragon coffers on your drops. They drop EVERYWHERE. Next to impossible to get any real drops any more.

For having an ‘economist’ on staff, this in game economy really does stink.

T6 your absolutely right, but T5 maybe not so much.

I am currently taking my warrior through Timber and Frostgorge and was getting Claw and Fang T5 drops like crazy. Also good return on Bone and Totem from Grawl and Svanir in the zones.

I tried getting bones the other day and yes the boxes are replacing the T5 drops as well.

  • When our home city was to reflect our adventures.

I won’t play norn because they are just too big I can hardly see around my Charr. Jumping puzzles are hard enough.

I refuse to play warrior they have a dime a dozen warriors in the game already I prefer underdogs.

Ranger is afk boring I am in the middle of getting ready to delete my level 50 ranger.

Mesmer and Necro spells are just way too loud, and mesmer is entirely too complex a system for me to use i feel like it’s as crazy as switching between three kits and a regular weapon on the engineer.

Engineer is definitely working as intended in WvW and PVP in fact that’s all they spent time balancing in that class.

PVE however it’s one of the most broken classes out there. They just can’t seem to make up their mind as to whether it’s an adventurer class or if it’s a soldier class.

Personally I’d rather them make it a soldier class instead and just give us access to heavy armors because our traits are designed for that anyways might as well.

Change us back to heavy please or change the looks so they look more like an engineer with more gears on the medium armor because that looks terrible atm.

A stronger community feature.

I’d like for loot to be taken out of the equation on this one. Right now they require grouping to get better loot options from mobs. Some people don’t always have partners to run with even while in guilds because guilds become cliqy after a while.

I’d like to see a better system as well I think maybe some kind of boon is in order. Maybe a magic find boon would be best.

I would also love a PVE que to allow for event joining and a Firefall style map handler for events so we can see the events for the whole map.

GW2 purports itself to be a game with a great community due to the everybody wins program it uses. However, what few people seem to notice, or perhaps just don’t know because they never experienced it, is that GW2 actually happens to have one of the worst PvE community’s I’ve ever seen, imo.

There is no incentive to group with anyone when running about the world. We’ve all fought through countless battles no doubt with strangers, and yet most likely never said a word. The only chat you see between players takes place in shout or guild.

Which brings me to my suggestion:
I’d like to see a feature implemented that gives small stat or XP bonus’s when grouping with other players. Have the feature scale so that the more people in the group, the greater the bonus. Put a radius meter on it so that they must be around each other for the effect to be active.

Edit: Additionally, there is apparently a bonus for defeating a monster alongside another player. This is exactly the kind of bonus that should be given when actually in a party with another player. You already reap the rewards of killing the enemy, give a bonus for doing so while actively teaming up with other players.

Doing this will hopefully bring the community closer together. It’ll make people actually have to speak to the players they’re doing the heart quests and events with. Most developers have now come to realize and have stated that the largest factor that keeps people in a game are the people they meet while playing. This feature would serve to help facilitate that need in GW2.

Thanks~

Edit: It has been stated that a main component to the problem of communication is the lack of means.
So I am also adding the suggestion of an in-game voice communication option within a party, similar to that of EQ2. Join a party, auto-join a chat channel and begin communicating (assuming you set it to auto in options.)

T6 Dust Crisis

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

tigirius.9014

People are missing the point entirely I see.

Let me spell it out so everyone can understand once and for all.

All things are not equal in the loot system, all people are not getting the chance for good drops, some people are stuck in a perpetual low drop 98% of the time situation so you can argue until you’re blue that there’s nothing wrong, but until everyone has equal chances at the loot there will still be a problem. That’s not what’s happening in this game I repeat loot chances are not equal in this game.

The only time anyone can say truly that there’s nothing wrong is when those people who have perpetual issues getting anything to drop at all suddenly have good luck as the word “random” in RNG implies. Until that happens there’s something wrong with the algorithm they are using. And it compounds the issue when they already have a system preventing loot drops working in tandem with the algorithm problem that already exists. (it also means that those who get perpetually great drops will eventually drop off, we’re not seeing that either).

So we can hear about how you got yours all year long until this issue is addressed properly it’s going to be here, the myth that RNG means that you get nothing all the time is just that a myth.

Are loot drops account oriented?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

I have a hunch this game has a similar problem to what AC1 had for a while… Some algorithm is seriously fubar that makes some characters or accounts literally not get anything. For instance I have only gotten 3 Exo’s in 2 months. Meanwhile, some guy in my guild gets that nearly every day.

My same hunch. Wi Flag algorithms are bad. WoW had this very same issue in dungeons in TBC those dungeons were the worst because people could literally run them hundreds of times and never get a single drop for their class meanwhile others would get all of the spectrum of these drops. They changed their system the next expansion because of this as I recall to allow for a subset of equal gear for most slots people run these dungeons for to get the gear to drop to gear their toons to be ready for raids.

Now I know this system of gearing isn’t the same however it shows that these types of algorithms that handle loot cannot be trusted and the acquisition of loot for the purposes of crafting or advancement needs to be adjusted so players have a more direct route to the resources they need. ie a vendor of some sort.

People will argue that we already have that but I’ve opened many of each one of these bags hundreds in some cases and never have I ever seen a lodestone or a charged lodestone drop in these things (much less dust but they patched that which helps).

There’s still the problem of not receiving enough rares or exotics to even salvage for ectos and some salvages still produce 0 ectos. I tried it this week, they dropped nothing twice when I did it from gear I didn’t need because I decided not to level my ranger.

There’s also a problem with getting these bags to drop at all. It’s weird that we have to use magic find to get bags to drop off anything. It should just happen, saying humanoids don’t have currency or loot is like saying animals don’t have leather or meat. MF should not be required to get heavy or large bags.

I tried recently to farm large bones to make something for one of my toons, i ended up buying them because there’s no direct way of getting T5 mats either. Spend hours trying to get something to drop for T5 mats in a high level zone and you’ll see what I’m saying.

Help me with Healing Math

tigirius.9014

I’m not sure what you’re doing with your math here… Dividing heal power by your total heal? That doesn’t tell you how much you’re healing by per point of heal pow.

Your healing per point of HealPow is simply .1 .

HA actually no it’s not. It’s reduced and some skills don’t even increase with healing power (like the trait for kit regen or regen in general) so it’s really messed up the system they have here. It’s one of the reasons why they seriously don’t have a valid AN Trinity they just have 1 build that anyone needs in combat for everything and the rest is just ridiculous. Also a problem with direct healing in this game, plenty of other titles have similar combat but don’t rely solely on AOE healing zones for everything (which can be made completely useless easily.)

The game is becoming a Grind

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

Long before this game came out, it was clearly stated by Eric Flannum that there would be things to grind for, but those grinds wouldn’t be required.

And that’s still the case.

GW2 was never designed to eliminate grind, but only to eliminate necessary grind. In my opinion, they more than succeeded.

We definitely can’t say that yet there are still holes in the design that some people try to make us all ignore or make us believe aren’t really there when even they know it’s true one of which being Runes and Sigils and another being certain materials that like Dusts are required to craft for general purposes not for legendary grinding that are missing from the game’s currency and purchase system entirely and thus are abused by the people who really run the economy, those who have way too much gold in the first place.

So until they fix these issues there will still be a grind, there will still be issues with finding these loot items for regular crafting, and until they eliminate the need to use the mystic toilet for anything we’re still in the problem zone. Hopefully their plans for the rewards system will truly make this game “play as you wish” when it’s released.

I love how non-developers think they know better than the actual developers on how to fix problems. It’s almost like that solution (just increasing drop rate) is so obvious, that it was tested and didn’t fix the problem without introducing more problems.

I don’t see a problem here honestly, non-developers have played a very large number of games and we’ve seen what other developers have done with their games as solutions to these same problems. It’s part of history.

I myself have played 15 mmos and have seen my share of very bad decisions like D3 nerfing loot, and other titles who didn’t last beyond their first year because they implemented DR and didn’t give players another way of being rewarded either.

If it’s a problem in an MMO I’ve been thru it I’ve seen it and I’ve kept mental notes about it to keep myself from experiencing it all over. When i first saw this companies interviews about what they had planned I thought wow here’s a company that has been thru it like I have and knows what not to do to their players. Little did I know that apparently they have no concept of mmo development history in some cases, because what I’ve seen over the past year in this game makes me wonder if anyone there has ever played an mmo in their life. It really does and I don’t mean that as an insult I’m sure some of them have but some of the mistakes I’ve seen in this game’s patches are jawdropping sometimes. It’s like seeing a car developer using the model T of car engines forgetting (bare with me) 18 years of other trials that other companies have done made public, taking into account the internet and the vast resources of data that anyone can research easily, and taking into account the public aspect of all official game forums, and taking into account the elephant’s in the room natural tendency to adapt to survive as any company has to, one would think that these kinds of decisions would never be considered as solutions because many of them have been tried already many times and failed miserably so other solutions that came from those failures were used and thus improved gaming alround. It just seems like they don’t remember these other solutions because we keep seeing them using the bad choices in some cases that we’ve already seen other companies make years ago. Not all of them.

I guess what I’m saying is expected them to know as much as any old head mmo gamer knows due to experience with these problems in games because they did claim in the beginning to be gamers themselves (I’d assumed that meant mmo gamers).

How to fix RNG and increase ArenaNet income.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

What about fixing the RNG model first instead of creating a more distinct cash-shop elitism between the hard working players and the big cash spenders?

That’s what I’m seeing here. We don’t need more cash shop currency we need more in game currency and more ways of getting them.

For example, the guild skins. In other titles they have these kinds of things however they aren’t required to have to be doing something with a guild all the time. One can solo run certain things in the game and get this currency. It solves the problem of people being in the same guild but being in different time zones not having access to guild runs and still being able to get what they want in the game. The way they gave people more incentive to do things with their guilds is to increase the amount by 2 when doing these things. Thus if people run with just their guilds they get more currency and can buy more things from the in game store.

There’s also the aspect of making every activity give a certain currency and placing the items people need in the store for that currency so that you can have multiple ways of getting the items you need. (for example T6 materials could be bought with karma, laurels, or gold and one could buy them directly, no more boxes or bags to randomly generate one when opened or be completely nerfed like the Orr karma boxes to control the economy.) The economy btw solved itself in these instances, people sold alot of them all at once but because so many people were posting it became impossible to get a profit very quickly so people stopped selling them because it was easier to buy them from the vendors.

There’s also a problem getting runes in this game some of them have inflated so far out of whack that some people can’t get the ones they need. Sure there’s crafting but when the materials almost never drop off mobs there’s no way of getting these materials for these runes. If everyone’s supposed to have an easy time gearing themselves as we’ve been told we can, then why not make these runes more available to the public using one of the three currencies available? Say Karma for example. It would instantly cure the problem and solve the issue of people abusing the economy (the people who played since headstart and abused the system to get multiple precursors during the event making them rich and giving them the ability to manipulate the market pricing by buying all of the items up and them posting them with larger prices than before.)

much better then what OP is proposing.

Agreed, but ArenaNet has actually finally spoken out on the loot issue. Colin said that we can expect a loot revamp by the end of Summer, so that’s all we can look forward to now.

Yeah it was a minor fix but only for 1 problem. It’s why I asked about lodestones because those things are more rare then water in Arabia. I can only hope they learned their lesson regarding why people play mmos it’s not just for the scenery or the props or the lore, it’s for the feeling of being rewarded after completing something fun.

And it’s why I changed my tune about farming. If they don’t want farmers that’s fine but something must be done about the rewards in this game. I don’t mind doing events so long as I can use the currency from these events to purchase the things I need to craft and I don’t mind salvaging so long as that provides what I need to craft. I really would love to see them improve the crafting in this game there are types of items we still have yet to see that have been in other less complex games (like needing to do anything with the mystic toilet, for example making a feast by throwing things that don’t belong in a feast into the mystic toilet things that cost too much currency like crystals) . Hopefully they’ll fix it all at the same time.

The nerfs are the other problem, from here on out unless it’s absolutely an honest to god bug, we shouldn’t see anymore nerfs it’s now at a very bad place.

We’re seeing three problems with the loot system. We’re seeing an algorithm issue where some people get loot all the time and some don’t, so much for individual loot tables. We’re seeing DR interfere with the looting of temporary mobs in events. And we’re seeing nerfs to the loot tables of those mobs specifically with the bags. At no time should anyone ever have to use magic find to get bags to drop, it’s like the age old problem of animals not dropping their animal parts when they die. You’re never going to not find meat on an animal just like you should never not find currency on a humanoid mob, in the lore skritt have bags they have them right on their person standing there in the game some are even carrying boxes but we have to use magic find to get these bags to drop and then have to worry over whether these bags will actually give us the materials we were farming for in the first place. There’s a double problem here. (don’t get me started on why we aren’t seeing skritt in the open PVE world and why they are only focused in WvW which is a whole other problem)

That’s what some people are still experiencing up until they get tired of it and leave the game entirely or talk themselves into believing that it’s not about the rewards system (facepalm)

You’re right there’s a serious issue with rewards hopefully what Colin has planned will make for a better system and make it worth while while fixing whatever it is that causes people to not get a single thing while doing these activities and some people to get everything all the time in the same activities every week every month in the same party.

aoe looting is coming

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Unless they actually improve the loot this is rather useless.

That’s what I’m thinking. A quick fix would be to include T6 materials in salvages using the non-store bought salvage kit imo so that we can actually get the materials we need.

This however doesn’t work well with their current system for noncrafter types who are stuck like i am on the down side of their lopsided loot system where it doesn’t matter what you do you can’t seem to catch a break from getting DR for five minutes long enough to get anything more then the single daily guaranteed rare from the boss fight.

However it does look like they are learning that you have to adapt to survive in the mmo universe because if you don’t people will leave your game and go where they can actually feel rewarded and have a modern ui.

I agree they should just make it automatic. LOTRO did that and it’s was better then the AOE loot feature in Rift.

GW2 has been out for a while, and I am becoming increasingly ambivalent about it.

Whats changed? Why have my attitudes towards the game i was once so enthusiastic about altered? Well, I’ve been thinking about it, and I’ve come to the following conclusions.

Has that ever not happened to you after 10 months? Passion is lost over time, even for the most important things in life. It’s not like GW2 is on the level of a car, wife, kids, job. If passion for a videogame declines over the course of ten months … are you really surprised?

The conclusions are not relevant. What’s relevant is the fact that this game is not new anymore. Eye candy isn’t eye candy anymore. That’s not something to cry about.

It has happened to me however, that’s not the point here. More and more we’re seeing developers of new games do this to the mmo community. Make grandiose videos and interviews about how great their game will be how they’ll do all of these things, how their game will have no equal because they too are tired of the same old. The state of the game in no way matches the manifesto. There’s a large list of things they stopped development for right after launch and will probably never pick up. Right now the patches seem like they are trying to keep us busy while trying to scramble to fix things in the background which is never a good sign. People are just pointing this out not because they hate the game but because they want what they paid for, so do I. People who hate the game don’t write well thought out posts like the OP did they write troll posts of one or two sentences so OP definitely cares about the game it’s apparent.

Actually I’d like to make a small correction. This modified RNG sucks, RNG in general when done properly doesn’t work the way it has in this game. I play 3 other mmo’s all of which use RNG for drops. I get proper expected drops from farming in their versions of their open world all the time. I get high level drops, I never am cutoff from valuable maximum level resources, I can farm for an hour and get what I need to craft no problem.

For more information on what is most likely wrong click here combine Wi Flag style algorithms with DR and you have what we’re seeing with the loot problems in this game easily.

I would not doubt that it’s extended into the mystic toilet.

The Future of GW2, Loot, Population, etc.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

I also wonder about chest loot in GW2. Just for comparison, item rarities in GW1 and GW2:

  • GW1: White * GW2: White
  • GW1: Blue * GW2: Blue/Fine
  • GW1: Purple * GW2: Green/MW
  • GW1: Gold * GW2: Gold/Rare
  • GW1: Green * GW2: Orange/Exotic

Now, the only chests that I can recall in GW2 were in dungeons, FoW and UW. Those chests always dropped 2 items (gold or green), as well as rare crafting materials. The chance for a Green (given the frequency with which I saw them) was not a miniscule chance. Some of the gold items were also highly sought after (more valuable than the greens, really), as they were rare and highly desirable skins (e.g., Voltaic Spear). Even the common yellows might have a desirable mod that could be salvaged. Now, in GW1, doing a dungeon might take a bit longer (though there were speed runs there, too).

So, how does the same company come to the conclusion that chests (dungeon and open world) in GW2 should drop blues and greens, whose value above vendor price or salvage is mostly non-existent?

simple answer:
Gw2 anet need to change the reward guys vision, the rewards in this game a very poorly executed on numerous levels.
A) no feeling of control (very few drops you can actually hunt for by targeting specific enemies or events
B)generally unrewarding, as you said the vast majority of rewards you get a fairly worthless, basically vendor
C) the rewards arent balanced with difficulty or rarity of circumstances, for example a jumping puzzle that takes 15min to an hour to complete, and can only be completed once per day generally gives way less reward than an activity that lasts 5 minutes and you can repeat once every 15 minutes
D) requirements for creating items of value tend to be fairly crazy, as is, an ascended neck piece takes one month to obtain, ascnded back piece requires 250 of the rarest crafting mats
E) rewards arent balanced to reward the type of gameplay they wanted to create, they spent lots of time on exploring and putting DEs and events everywhere, but the rewards are skewed toward being a merchant, and farming repetive tasks in one place repeatedly.

All in all, the reward systems are probably the biggest flaw of GW2 and one of the ones we ve seen the least progress on. I hope they can iterate to some better systems soon

I do too. I can understand not wanting farming that’s fine but rewards need to come from somewhere or people will just up and leave.

Colin posted on another thread to me stating they are working on a massive rework of the rewards system. I am excited to see just what that will be. I’m also hoping that they will workinto this new system a better measure of participation inevents which will include the two forgotten roles in the Arenanet trinity (CC and Support) and the ability to find open world rewards like from those chests you mentioned preferably those that are guarded by champions/ vets. I would hope that they’d offer the ability to scale these chests with the level of the players in level 30+ zones which would give higher level players who enjoy exploration an option to return to that practice and be rewarded by it.

Crossing fingers.

I'm not happy to see other players - looting

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

One of the core-philosophies of this game is the cooperative aspect. You should be happy to see other players.

GW2 has done a great deal to go in the right direction, but there are still problems. Dragon Bash introduced an activity where it get’s very visual: You compete against other players to do enough damage on a mob in order to get it’s loot. While this is imho a big problem in this holiday-event it can also be a problem in the core of the game.

Lv.80 players who visist low level zones are very powerful. Despite backscaling they can do enormous damage to mobs and if there are 2 or more such players it’s difficult to get the participation next to them.

Now we have mining-nodes where every player can get his fair share. Why not take this concept and evolve it to battles? A solution would be to make corpses lootable by everyone around. If you come by too late you can still get your share. You won’t get the xp for killing the mob but you still get loot.

Wait a minute. Did I just say: I get loot when haven’t even participated in the battle? Yes I did. But… how is it rewarding to kill a mob then? Well, you get your loot anyway. Isn’t this BS, he just watched and did nothing… and still gets loot? Yeah, he’s in our team against the dragons, do you remember?

What do you think? Could you live with such a system? Do you think others just don’t earn their loot if they haven’t enough AOE-power with them?

It’s the core problem with their rewards system when it comes to loot atm. All participation is solely measured in events and when multiple players tag a mob via DPS so basically all condition builds and all healers are out when it comes to getting the best loot in the game or getting the best rewards in the events.

I’m hoping that while they are working on rewards they include things like the measure of how much healing was done as well as the number of rezs while fighting etc in these events because it would go a long way to improving the overall game when they do release the revised rewards system.

So this change is great to bring dust down and bring ectos up… but the core issue still remains. Orr has been nerfed into oblivion. No one goes there anymore.

T6 mats will eventually need to come from other sources if you want to continue pushing people out of Orr.

Yeah they know and from Colins reply they are working on the rewards system as a whole. I could only think that would mean events perhaps if my wishful thinking were to come true that might also mean champions/ and their chests they guard but one thing at a time.

What Anet did or didn’t do to rectify the situation doesn’t change the fact that people if they saw the price going up WOULD farm it. Somehow, somewhere, they’d find a way to farm it.

Some guy found you could get them off earth elementals and posted about it. We don’t know what would have happened, and only the most closed-minded person would assume that we do.

You have no crystal ball, you’re not a seer, you shouldn’t be embarrassed to admit you don’t know.

You don’t need to be a seer or own a magic ball to see the patently obvious.

On one hand we have people pointing out the clear issues that the system had, increasing price and ANET themselves making alterations (i’m relatively confident they are privy to the information that it can drop from elementals..). On the other hand we have “someone, somewhere, somehow would have found a way, it would be alright honest!”. Yeah okay then.

Colin’s post to me was a clear indication they know that there is a hole where rewards for the activities they’d like us to do. They seem to be working on this according to his reply so I’m anxious to see what this will be. I’m hoping it will be something that will make it relatively easy to acquire materials we need from common events and or salvages.

What's wrong and how it can be fixed

Inb4 vayne and the rest of the usual folk. Good post and I agree.

In after Gasoline QQing about Vayne.

As for OP, not sure what I can tell you. Maybe the next MMO will be able to keep that glow after all the paths of least resistance have been discovered, I’m not entirely sold on that possibility.

In b4 Uruz jumps on the Vayne bandwagon and helps keep the clear objectivity at bay with blind fandom.

It’s the same person or his brother or something. just ignore them, they are a pair made in heaven for each other. Nothing good can come from talking to people who blindly hate others ideas and put down other people every chance they get. This forum is much more enjoyable if you just post your feelings and ignore people like this.

Calling them out just stokes the trollish fires, so to speak.

It’s true I should follow your advise and I will from now on. It’s not worth my time.

They made a major step forward with the dusts this week, that was nice! I also got a post from Colin stating that they are working on other rewards systems and that lodestones will have a solution as well. I’m happy they are working on these things I really am, it’s been a long time of trying to get people over there to see the issues.

I just wish NCsoft would give these people more funds from their own profits to make major bug fixing in the classes a priority. Hire some contractors, and to get some temp people in there to help with permanent additions to content now.

It’s not that I’m not satisfied it’s that I care about what this game becomes as much as the devs do if they don’t work with their players players will leave it’s really that simple in this market. That’s never a good thing. But they are working with us, this patch looks like they are moving in the right direction.

Rift just went F2P and it has puzzles, housing, fishing (with props and the ability to fish up resources), massive invasions of zones in PVE, solo dungeons, raids, post max level advancement, outfits, dual spec, scratchoff mobile app lotteries that give resources and end game currencies….the list is long.

I just worry that by the time these guys make the changes it might be too late.

Has Guild Wars lost its way?

tigirius.9014

the concerns you present here are way off, there are lots of ways that GW2 could improve especially when getting back to the promises of the manifesto and temporary content is one of the bad things they should definitely not make their main focus (as opposed to permanent content) however, the achievements you present in your argument really aren’t the basis for the problems this game faces.

They did make a major change this time that I think helped part of the problem with LS. This time they actually improved the drop rates of the boxes and spread them out all over the world so they are no longer focusing people into 1 zone like they were.

Now if they could just get to the stage of adding new metas and new DE’s monthly that are permanent, balance PVE properly, stop “fixing” things that were never broken in the first place as far as class design is concern, and remove DR once and for all (because bots long ago stopped farming mobs anyway) at least remove it from the open world, then things would improve immensely.

My idea to fix bleed cap

in Suggestions

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

Well, you are WRONG.
It is a direct buff to conditions.
While 20 sec condition dealing 1k damage per second is tolerable, 6 sec condition dealing 3k damage is not. It is not tolerable just as 1 sec condition dealing 20k dps.
Get your mind together.

And that would be a problem how in PVE? it’s PVE no one is going to get hurt, and certain classes have 0 burst options so this would solve alot of problems. Marnick’s idea would because it was stealth nerfed way back before they started putting up patch notes and long before they started separating the PVE PVP WVW patches.

So not only does it need to not have a cap for some classes (well not the cap it has now at least) it needs a serious boost in PVE.

Engineer Trait Bloat

in Engineer

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

I feel they have certain traits in the wrong places like the 50% endurance regen definitely should not be a grand master trait it should be one of those tiny 5 point traits easily.

I also have a comparison post about how they could improve the burst DPS options since they still classify this profession as an adventurer profession. We’re missing might and fury builders (multiple options for each, right now we only have 1 builder for FT and 1 builder for elixirs there is no flow options or elegance for using things we already should be using like gadgets for example) as well as burst DPS options for when enemies are at max health to about 90% and then the bonuses for 50% or below are missing entirely (cept crit in only 1 line). So basically we’re supposed to use one of the most expensive and hard to find runesets in the game to include that bonus to damage at 50% hitpoints on our foe and the runeset only offers 10% whereas the thief and ranger enjoy traits that offer 20% extra damage for those instances.

We’re severely defensive stuck in a hybrid state (relying too much on condition damage types) for everything, we need a Zerker option to be balanced.

(Talking PVE)

There’s also the question of them adding a 25% run speed boost to one of the sets of gadgets so that we can eliminate about 10 points that everyone gets stuck with at the bottom of the line just to travel properly.

“Globs of Ectoplasm can now be salvaged into Piles of Crystalline Dust. This change should help Globs of Ectoplasm maintain a strong value in the economy and lower the cost of Crystalline Dust.”

Thank you. Now if we could have a solution for lodestones that would be awesome!

Additional ways for other items like lodestones will arrive later this summer, there part of a much larger reward overhaul (outlined in very high level detail here) we’ll go into more low level detail when we update the status of this blog: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/colin-johanson-on-guild-wars-2-in-the-months-ahead/

The dust solution was a quicker low hanging fruit change outside of the larger reward system overhauls, so we figured we’d get it out quickly based on all of your feedback.

As always, thanks again for feedback folks!

Thank you so much I really appreciate this. This was one of the bigger problems for me in this title I am very satisfied that you guys are taking the time out to fixit.

I think arenanet are not behind this. A lot of people say that it is NCsoft. I don’t know for sure, but from my experience with arenanet, i don’t think they would come up with this kind of cheap sale offers…

You’ll find that all of the systems they use to limit loot, DR, nerfs, RNG are designed specifically by NCsoft. That’s why I’m extremely leery about Wildstar. I refuse to buy the thing at launch because this kind of thing with the loot didn’t start with GW2 until 2 months after launch.

And these people will just sit there and churp “RNG RNG” while they click on the ui to buy more of these boxes. It’s not random that’s the problem unless you consider a 1 or a 0 random because even the loot is like that in this game, but don’t be fooled it’s nowhere near 50/50%.

Now we just have to see whatever got bugged in this patch.

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking, we’ll see. Hopefully nothing.

Now if they’ll just take a look at EG/TK kit refinement to improve those two and bring them back into usefulness and add the 25% run speed to a gadget somewhere in there like our sister classes have, that should bring things closer to on par with the rest of Tyria.

Well, in anticipation of some changes in strategy, there is a potential nerf to the Flame Jet and Fumigate skills:

notes

Profession Skills
General:

Fixed a bug that caused sigils to be removed when the player died while transformed.
Fixed a bug that let teleport skills teleport players through certain walls, most notably the clock tower’s walls in The Battle of Khylo.
Fixed a bug that made line-of-sight checks frequently succeed when they shouldn’t.
Fixed a bug where skills that draw allied conditions would instantly cure any condition that was self-inflicted.

Easiest spot to test this, I think, would be on the Archivist final encounter, where an FT could tank the fight by strafing around the square pillar on the right side of the Archivist as you run in. The change will likely negate this.

Nah I’ll just test it on my engi the next time I’m on since it misses on mine all the time anyway I can tell if it’s actually fixing the problem or making it worse.

I hate to tell you guys this but every business model of this type will have these boxes from here on end because people actually buy the things. If they had self control we wouldn’t ever see anyone using them in these games.

I play a total of 3 other mmo’s right now and ALL of them have various models and all of them have these boxes because the devs know they are moneymakers.

So long as someone spends real money for them somewhere they are here to stay and until people stop buying them they aren’t going to stop making them.

The only complaint i can see them doing something about is having weapon skins in them where there are not enough skins in the game already beyond what they launched and what is required for forced group play currencies. (not everyone is on or available all the time) so they’ll definitely have to add more permanent selections of gear for the rest of us eventually. other then the racials you have to be in a group or a guild for every other type of skin in the game (other than the karma ones they’ve had since launch).

They however will never take out the skins they sell in these boxes.

Time grind and you! un alt friendly systems.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

Yep it’s the problem with having 1 daily per account, not having karma currency transfers or accountwide karma, and other issues this game faces. They want us to enjoy the wide range of classes they offer yet hold back progression for these alts with machinations that aren’t there to harm bots but are there to harm players.

I don’t think they are aware they are harming the players…. Actually they are harming themselves as well if you think about it… The current system causes alts to look less desirable till you manage to gear 1 character….. meaning less alts…. Meaning less character slots are bought…. It goes on further but I’m sure you understand what I’m saying with that.

The only real way to fix the system in its current form would be to reduce costs of the gear across the board…. The other fix would be to simply allow players to craft the gear like the originally said they were going to do… Instead I sense more currencies being added to the game.

It depends on what you’re playing. Pve you can roll around in rares and be more than fine. Dungeons its recommended. WvW it’s absolute must have even if you stay with a zerg. My advice is 1 main 2 secondary and the rest just for random fun. I don’t see them changing the setup so limit who you gear.

This is what I’m trying to draw attention to… Some players don’t want to even have alts if they can’t manage to gear them in a timely manor. This cuts into both player fun and company profits. Over a very long time this system would work out but the time gating is just causing more frustration then not.

Actually they could merge the currencies across the board for one, make dailies a per character thing, retro our achievements to give us a buttload of laurels, change the world exploration achievement so it doesn’t force people into a PVP zone (because that worked so well for Aion you know), actually balance PVE for the three weakest classes in the game to bring them on par with the known favorite professions. Ton of options there to make improvements on so they can be alt friendly.
