RNG is RNG. I killed my 300 holograms and ended with 115 coffers.
I got 250 Zhaitaffy, 24 fireworks, 10 stat foods, no minis, no skins.
you do know the chances for the dropped version of the box are nothing like the bought version thus the name of the gem store version.
I think it’s great! I like this initiative. We need these kinds of solutions for lodestones and for the other more-rare-than-water-in-a-desert T6 materials and we need them from salvages as well.
I sincerely hope this is the first of many such corrections to the loot issues players face, it’s fine not to want farmers, but give us another means of acquiring these mats and we’ll be happy to use them.
I like how they fixed the dust crisis that was nice of them.
I also like how they have a higher drop rate for boxes this time and have expanded it to everywhere so people aren’t stuck in one zone farming the things.
Now if only they’d do something about lodestones and other extremely rare T6 materials and the tendency to have only 1 option for farming gold CoF P1 that would solve two of the loot problems.
Then the only problem to fix after that would be permanent content.
“Globs of Ectoplasm can now be salvaged into Piles of Crystalline Dust. This change should help Globs of Ectoplasm maintain a strong value in the economy and lower the cost of Crystalline Dust.”
Thank you. Now if we could have a solution for lodestones that would be awesome!
depends on your class, your goals and your daily activities. Personally in PVE they have a long long way to go and if you played anything other than a warrior or guardian i wouldn’t look for PVE class balance just yet, and finally I would hold off on trying to get legendaries until they fix the lack-o-rewards system they got going on here. That’s just me tho.
Why? How is it that the developers are more focused on removing fun scenic areas and things like a popular stump in Southsun than fixing all of the crap bugs that actually plague character classes? Why was it even necessary to “fix” something like this? I actually had a few good memories chatting with people on top of that high rock near the clouds, but we can’t have nice things like that, can we?
That’s one of my major gripes. They change things (ie spend time working on) that are basically irrelevant (that spelling has got to be wrong) to the player base, while ignoring things that are exceedingly important to the player base. Ofc everything is subject and open to debate, but come on let’s be honest…..hard to do for some.
That’s what I’ve been noticing as an engineer.
Scopes has been broken and turrets has too for a very long time now. Wanna know how many steps it’s taken to get to scopes?
just look at the notes since December for class balance, and they’re just now talking about scopes in the engineer forums not necessarily to fix it but to change it may the six help us!
Yep it’s the problem with having 1 daily per account, not having karma currency transfers or accountwide karma, and other issues this game faces. They want us to enjoy the wide range of classes they offer yet hold back progression for these alts with machinations that aren’t there to harm bots but are there to harm players.
Yep been complaining about it for about 8 months now. There’s this lopsided loot thing going on some people get loot constantly while others get nothing at all doing the same exact events and this isn’t just anecdotal this is all the time within the same circle of friends doing the same events weekly and monthly even with new content coming out.
Someone posted a good possibility as to why this happens and it seems to deal with algorithms and how they actually function in an mmo environment. This seems to be what’s happening with the loot algorithm in this game. Hopefully it won’t take them years to discover it.
It’s more noticeably a problem on this title however since they also have DR. When you have a code that causes this problem to occur on TOP of a code in the system that artificially cuts off your loot capabilities before you even have a chance to fully get started with taking out temporary mobs in events, then there’s a bigger problem.
There’s also the issues that come about when a double RNG system is in place, like with loot bags. It takes RNG to even get them to drop, they are affected by DR just like all other loot, and then there’s a secondary external chance for the type of drops that will come out of said bags. It’s why AAA game developers stopped using it in general a long time ago because they learned that these things don’t make for a fun game experience. People need to be able to reach their goals in games.

One of the things that bothers me about the explosives line is they need to merge the Forceful Explosives and Explosive Powder traits just like they did on Rangers with the Eagle Eye trait.
so whats the minimum level of a mob in order for it to drop T6? ive been farming around lvl70 mobs and havent got a T6 drop yet so im wondering if i might be farming the wrong “level” of mobs in order to get T6?
75+ has been my experience both for T6 drops and the bags. cept SS cove. Good luck not hitting DR tho.
For record keeping, currently T6 dust is buying at 32s 20c a piece and selling for 35s 89c a piece.
One day later…
T6 dust is buying at 34s 28c a piece and selling for 36s 20c a piece today as at 8:38am on 30th May 2013.
There’s a bit more dust supply today, though it’s nothing to shout about. It’s about 2 Bifrosts worth.
T6 dust supply – 1,488 as at 9.22am 31st May 2013.
T6 dust prices continues to climb though.
Buying at 35s 68c vs selling at 36s 74c.
3.07pm 3rd June 2013, T6 dust is selling for 39s 22c and buying for 36s 2c with total supply 1,409 pieces.
4.11pm 4th June 2013, T6 dust is selling for 37s 45c and buying for 36s 80c with total supply being 2,225 pieces.
11.20am 5th June 2013, T6 dust is selling for 39s 99c and buying for 37s 11c with total supply being 2,305 pieces.
Last 6 day buying prices from record keeping -
1. 32s 20c
2. 34s 28c +2s
3. 35s 68c +1s
4. 36s 2c +0.5s
5. 36s 80c +0.7s
6. 37s 11c +0.3s.While the price increase is depressing, the saving grace of it all is that there is still some supply…
There’s more supply today. At least a decent amount to go around.
Total supply available on the TP = 4,966 pieces
Buying price = 36s 96c
Selling price = 36s 98cRecorded on 10:02am 6th June 2013.
Supply remains quite decent today also, but the real test will come on the weekend.
Total supply available on the TP = 4,663 pieces
Buying price = 37s 37c
Selling price = 40s 86cRecorded on 5:30pm 7th June 2013.
Might have to change the topic to T6 Dust PRICE crisis. Hahaha.
Weekend is nearly over in the US. It’s a working Monday morning (almost noon time now) here in Asia already.
Total supply available on the TP = 3,896 pieces
Buying price = 37s 48c
Selling price = 38s 72cRecorded on 11:44am 10th June 2013.
Total supply available on the TP = 4,012 pieces
Buying price = 37s 37c
Selling price = 37s 39cRecorded on 4:16pm 11th June 2013.
Just thinking aloud… If after the Southsun Cove event ends, and prices don’t drop, and rises instead, are we going to blame it on “everyone is busy farming dragon bash and don’t have time to return to Orr (sorry, couldn’t help the pun)”? And then blame it on whatever event that comes next after dragon bash….
Yep that will be the next myth. Meanwhile it could be solved with a simple method of allowing them to be salvaged from drops like they did in GW1.
There’s two roles [Engineers] cannot fulfill easily (without a crazy exploit build) and that’s burst DPS and CC because everything becomes immune if they are a champion or above.
You’re not playing the class right, then.
For starters, ‘crazy exploit build’ for burst? Many of our builds can do a great deal of burst damage, and none of them are crazy or use burst.
As for CC, we’re one of the best classes for it. We are one of the best classes for getting rid of Defiant stacks – we have a large number of abilities that hit Defiant because of our access to Kits, and a good portion of those have a much lower cooldown than comparable abilities for other classes.
Beyond that, we have easy access to Defiant-ignoring CC (immobilize) through the Net Turret and its toolbar skill, Bomb Kit, Rifle or offhand Pistol, etc. On any given Fractal or non-CoF run, it’s almost a guarantee that I’ll save someone’s kitten with a well-timed Net Shot.
No not in PVE because of the design flaws and trait breakage burst DPS is not what it should be in any engineer, oh people will claim to have it down but when comparing the numbers to any other class especially those sister classes it’s clear somethings wrong.
Also, the problem with the bosses pretty much making them immune to CC is a very bad design, they should be resistant not immune there’s a difference. Even Kaaboose has gone over it. Why give CC to classes or make a class CC heavy as their role in any trait combination and then make bosses immune to CC it’s like someone over there is trolling the community. And Kaabooses video describes how to keep it from being exploited by still adjust it for solid use and better boss fights. Basically they don’t even have their own trinity in this game because of it. Support is lacking too especially with the number of skills that simply don’t scale with +healing on gear and the lack of a direct healing skill. Everything is AOE and bosses are well known for dropping their AOEs right on top of healing zones 99% of the time in my experience it’s like they look for those zones or something.
I would like have liked the GW2 we had up until January. That’s when they started with all these nerfs and anti-farm initiatives.
Yes, like the guaranteed yellows on world bosses and 200% MF in Southsun!!!
Blasted NCsoft and it’s cash-cow conspiracy!
Yes don’t mention DR at all because no one ever hits that when these event mobs start popping up, oh no that never happens. spsssh, smh.
Some of us have it permanently no matter what we do, that’s not bad luck that’s bad math.
How is it possible that flame jet still has the problem with missing so much. It is not like it is the only cone style weapon.
Drakes Breath
Fumigate
Cleansing FlameI have never seen any of these have the same miss issue as flame jet. Please look into fixing this! Flame jet has had this issue for far too long!!!
It does you have to have near perfect camera control the entire time when using it. if enemies run behind you like in Orr then it becomes very noticeable. Yet another bug that was reported in patch notes as fixed but that never was.
And there’s also the Charr tendency to burn the ground instead of target the enemy straight forward.
it isn’t a bug when you face one way and cannot hit foes running beside or behind you.
l2p.
l2p something constructive. It’s been a bug the entire time when FT misses more than the cone attacks on other character classes.
It’s a bug when you are spraying flames all over the enemy and misses consistantly. The autoaim especially for the Charr doesn’t work. Charr consistantly spray below the dirt when aiming at small creatures and they can be right in front of you and you’ll still miss somehow.
Came back after a couple month vacation…to notice that every single mob there pretty much chain knock downs/pulls/ccs. It’s really annoying.
Suppose that might be why people avoid the place like the plague.
Perhaps they went a wee bit over board on the mob buffs, yes?
In Orr? Actually they fixed the majority of that happening by removing dense mobs, removing those annoying spam grabbing, and adding loot bags to more drops. Unless your referring to champions at the events, then yes, they do suck.
yeah the only ones I’ve noticed that do that still are the farmers and the spiders. The rest no longer spam CC.
Even if they manage to change the way the kits work, they definitely have to do something about how they handle gathering resources or gaining rewards enough to make one before most people will touch that. I especially won’t be bothering until they fix the grind required where some people have made the joke that the only number anyone seems to know is 250 ct of everything.
100% agree with the OP. The game has not progressed into a relaxed gaming environment. It’s just become a ‘second job.’
I REALLY hope Anet/NCsoft get their acts together, because Neverwinter is looking pretty good right now.
Neverwinter is very disappointing and doesn’t have the free roaming as gw2 has.. And I hate the fact I have to look at my character like a top down view, not counting other things I have noticed which I am not going to go into… I had 2 characters, but deleted one of them.. Why have two when I won’t be playing it enough to even make it worth while to have two. It’s a mediocre game to spend my boring times in, but it is not one that I would spend hours, days or weeks at a time in.
Interesting because that’s not been my experience at all. All of my cleric AOE abilities with target reticles actually have a centralized beam from the sky that help me aim it whenever I use them so I never have to look down i play by looking from behind my toon.
I love their economy. They have three currencies all available thru gameplay. You can actually farm and get currency, open world mobs never have issues dropping great gear, all gear is sellable no BOA here. They allow players to earn enough currency in game to buy any of the little items they might need like keys to open boxes, or the powerups. They don’t break character classes with their updates. PWE definitely has the economy thing down, they’ve got about 10 mmo’s all F2P titles. All three of their mmo’s are having heavy updates right now to bring their UI’s and content up to snuff (DCUO, STO, NWO) they’re calling them kitchen sink updates.
They also don’t limit resources for crafting. I’ve farmed their version of nodes and have all kinds of resources to get my crafting to max and still have plenty left over for the higher tier items. There’s no mystic toilet to waste our time with. Mobs drop resources just as much as the nodes do and there’s no worrying over a double RNG system. We’re also able to buy resources from the AH with in game currency and their AH system is the old style system, post something with a buyout someone buys it, which works so much better then having a TP where players with too much cash can manipulate items to sell for 1 copper (way lower then the vendors take) still to this day and it’s almost been a year.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that if devs let go and let the players handle the auction house they end up with so much better pricing than if they try to hold the reigns way way too tight. They just had an issue with players abusing a bug and they banned the accounts and the economy fixed itself. There was no roleback and there was no DR implemented nor has there been loot nerfs to try and fix it and their system has been working just fine.
baffles my mind as well 19 pages of bugs in the engineering folder but they take the time to fix a nonvista location in the open world, a world they want us to appreciate the time they took on it. smh
About the balance issue, the same person that balanced Guild Wars 1 is in charge of the balance of Guild Wars 2. I kept asking for him to be fired or promoted (which ever got him away from balance) when he was working on Guild Wars 1. I asked that he not be put in charge of balance in Guild Wars 2 because the balance of Guild Wars 1 didn’t get corrected until he moved onto another project (bad news that project was Guild Wars 2). So it is not going to change until he moves onto the next project. You might as well get used to over powerful professions and worthless professions.
My wife and I both enjoyed Guild Wars 1 (bought two copies of everything they sold). We preordered our Guild Wars 2 and now my wife refuses to play Guild Wars 2, no hero / henchmen, gear grind, event and spawn rates seem to be affected by another player that is just in the area but not taking part, and feels like another wow clone (after Star Wars wow clone you would think no one would do it again but at last). What really killed it for her was waiting for a group event for 25 minutes – for 25 minutes we she was the only players in the area.
If this is indeed true then engineers are doomed. They’ve broken more on that class in PVE then they’ll ever fix at this point. EG/TK kitrefinement RIP.
so long story short
race based skins for turrets.
as for backpacks. at the very least let us dye them they can follow the same dye pattern as your armor or have a little section to let us dye all back items.
OMG you know it never occurred to me to ask for that! I totally forgot. That’s one of the things i liked about WoW shamans all of their totems looks were all race based with a clearly visible spell effect indicating which type of totem they were.
I would so love that with engineers!
I would further ask for backpacks to be the same thing! If they are to leave them on us with the option to change their look with dyes then i would ask that they make our backpacks more in line with each race.
Something angular and powered for Asura, some wrapped leaves for the salad people the imagination burns.
It’s great he spoke with people in game, but I seriously hope his predictions aren’t just lip service because I’m over that.
I also know that it leads immediately to rationing (in this case by an outside force, the nerfs made by Anet)
…changes to drop rates do not have even a passing resemblance to rationing.
and price discrimination (wherein the minority control everything
No, that is not what price discrimination is at all.
while the majority either can’t afford the increase in price or have 0 access to it due to the constraints of the economic poverty that exists from a highly manipulated economy which is what we have here.
I must warn you that you are treading dangerously close to the tinfoil hat brigade spouting technobabble like this. I’ve read this a dozen times now and it does not parse at all.
Rationing is the artificial control of a resource, thus rationing applies since all devs everywhere in every mmo control said resources. Where do you get off calling people wrong when the definitions very clearly apply to this medium?! This is also a problem now solely unique to this game. Every other mmo out there does not have this problem because they either learned that RNG is not the solution and provided other means (heck even GW1 had dusts from salvages) or they provided another means by which to get the necessary materials ie the use of currencies from a commonly used activity (currency from doing dungeons in most games would be the equivalent to karma from events)
The solutions are there they just have to use them to solve the problem.
I find it hilarious people are posting Economics 101 but forget about economic shortage, it’s fundamental to any in game economy and that’s exactly what people are describing in their posts in here. Taking a course in college doesn’t mean you understand…
That word does not mean what you think it means. This post is, in fact, another sterling example of nonsense said with authority.
Yeah I know what it means, I also know that it leads immediately to rationing (in this case by an outside force, the nerfs made by Anet) and price discrimination (wherein the minority control everything while the majority either can’t afford the increase in price or have 0 access to it due to the constraints of the economic poverty that exists from a highly manipulated economy which is what we have here.
It’s why new players aren’t able to get the runes and sigils they need for the new dungeon focus without first grinding out some serious gold before being able to get a full zerker on zerker set. Those prices too are the result of rationing.
The runes they NEED. Interesting wording. I don’t remember needing any runes to do dungeons, unless of course you’re only interested in speed running. You can do dungeons with gems you get from mining if you want to. It’s not like the dungeon has a requirement.
Still need to salvage rares and you need rare drops to get that. see what I mean?
I’d be totally fine if it just acts like Gunk. Creating an area of random condition with an ethereal field where the elixir is tossed. OR a significant damage increase.
I was thinking this too an AOE field would work so much better. They should do that with the EG kit refinement too and get rid of those snotball size sneezes on the ground.
No response to one of the biggest fashion faux pas yet huh? I would have thought a dev would have posted a “we’re aware of it and working on it, thanks” post by now.

I hope it’s an RNG box. Love those. Maybe an anniversary special, limited time offer skin?
They could even make it a gem store event—each extra anniversary RNG box could be sold for a low, low price of 1,400 gems!
“I get it!” ~~ Fry, Futurama
Yeah I’m with you there man.
As far as updates I’m not holding my breath altho I’d expect a kitchen sink update from most games especially for their ui.

The crazies in my experience have been the fractals and in the dungeons runs all over. It was like I was in WoW all of a sudden post the gearscore nerf.
If they nerfed dungeons before they provided a fix they’d lose the last few people they have. They’ve nerfed the heck out of farming locations over and over again, what makes you think they won’t eventually get to dungeons.
While out and about I think they actually may have reduced the number of herb locations notably in the lower levels but I can’t be sure.
Just going to point this out – there are no MMOs with infinite content. There simply can’t be.
No but there are mmo’s that delivered what they told their players they would, in this case they didn’t deliver permanent DEs and permanent metas per month rather than LS and temporary dungeons, as well as many much better rewards systems instead of RNG everything like this is 2004 or something.
When did Anet say they were going to add permanent DEs every month? I must have missed that day. They did add 30 dynamic events and 3 jumping puzzles in November. They added a new meta event just recently as well.
There’s plenty of other content, including the Fractals and guild missions, neither of which were advertised at all.
I think you’’re stretching when you say we didn’t get what we were told we were getting. The only thing you can really point to is the addition of ascended gear to the game, but aside from that, this game is pretty much what Anet said it would be.
Nope, like others who went thru and paid attention to every interview i could find (all of which were audio/video recordings not text), on multiple occasions people spoke to the devs about why they had such a focus on DE’s and the open world (this was pre november btw) and they stated that not only would this not be a dungeon focused game but that they’re focus would be to add permanent DE’s and metas monthly post launch because it was very fast easy and cheap for them to push them out, and because they wanted us to explore Tyria and be in every zone and to expect that. If you look on these forums early on people were complaining because they didn’t deliver that they just kept putting in temporary content for the holidays instead of new perm content in the open world so their response to that and to the problems of keeping the hardcore crowd was ascended and fractals.
“There is a door to the left and one to the right”
a) Turnaround
b) Open the left door
c) Open the right door.“You have chosen(Open the Right Door)”
“A goblin has stabbed you in the face”
“You are dead”
I prefer games that make you use logic instead of memorizing a line of random events and answers.
You can’t have a themepark endgame without progression. Period. Remember GW 1 had progression from Factions onward. It can be progression that resets every time there’s an expansion or something, but there needs to be a treadmill.
Not everyone likes treadmills. Install one and a huge part of the population will suddenly drop. “You can’t have a themepark without a treadmill” – well this is one of the first ones. The same way that you couldn’t have platformers in 3D, the same way that nobody would ever like a sandbox space simulator (kerbal space program) and the same way that MMO shooter wouldn’t attract anyone’s attention (planetside 2). You don’t have to have something, just because of the genre. In fact the more variety we see the better.
Two things I agree with. You can’t have a themepark without progression. Every game developer has struggled with this TSW and Rift found solutions with end game continued non-gear related progression post max level.
Progression also includes carrots, you can’t have a themepark without carrots on a stick, something to have people return. The biggest of which is loot. Eliminate or break the loot and you have a big problem on your hands. Add to that DR and a completion system for achievements that doesn’t provide resources people need to both make money and progress in one of your most grindy designs (farming for legendaries) and there’s a huge problem.
And don’t get me started on how DR sticks to people’s accounts.
I wouldn’t expect “serious” changes. I’d expect some changes, a bit each month, until it’s done. Changing everything at once often leads to more problems than doing it a bit at a time.
Do you really expect forum posters to understand that? To forum people “balance” means “buff my profession and nerf all others”.
In my case it’s “buff my profession to match the most beloved” which happens to be warriors, in PVE btw.
So already 2+ months of waiting for balance patch? Great 1 month more. I just hope that this balance patch will give some SERIOUS changes, not like previous that was just destroying game. But what i want to expect. Already know that they again focus on usless turrets, that no1 using.
If turrets are considered useless and no one is using them, would that not be the perfect place to start when it comes to balancing the game?
scope turrets (pets in general actually) lack of boons on the engineer the list is long. here’s to hoping.
Just going to point this out – there are no MMOs with infinite content. There simply can’t be.

I just killed exactly 150 sharks in this area. No MF equipped except Omnoberry bars.
From those sharks I got:
1 rare hammer
1 T6 armored scale
10 T5 scales
6 “white” pieces of armor or weapons
32 tail fins
1 black lion chestIf you do the math, for me it was obviously not a huge moneymaker. I would estimate the 150 sharks took 35 minutes. So if you tally the above…I would say it would bring 50 silver at most…
So, I call BS on this thread.
it’s certainly not 100gold per day but I have to say I’ve had more drops from this then I have in anything since november of last year. I have 147 mf on + the 200. 347 mf
1 exotic (second exotic ever since Nov 2012 btw and yes I do boss events)
2 rares
14 T6 scales
41 T5 scales
2 LS boxes
1 mini from one of the boxes
5 greens
4 blues
4 whites
and 5 greys before DR set in.
I was also in a party on my thief. I’m wondering if being in a party had anything to do with it now. hmmm.
It’s evident that ANet want farming to be uniform across the world, so that you aren’t forced into a small area with mobs that are respawning faster than they are supposed to be.
Seems they want people to travel across a zone, maybe get involved in some events while farming stuff.
There are far better ways of ensuring participation, one specific one comes to mind, improve the rewards for participation in events, and change the event handling from an all DPS all the time system to one that measures healing CC and rezzing. That’s not what we’re seeing, however.
there’s one more that’s important because it’s basically one of the few places left to farm. If they nerf these locations I won’t be back ever, because they obviously have no idea what keeps people playing. Carrot on a stick. It’s a harsh reality but it’s the key reason psychologically that people keep playing for years in the majority.
I’m kindof leery about Wildstar danbuter because it’s partnered with NCsoft. I’m curious to know if Wildstar’s economy will be just like GW2 in the end so I’m not really in a rush to jump into that game. I’ll be watching the threads there to see if people complain about loot nerfs or any mechanisms to look like DR in their title. If that happens then every post we’ve made about the economy and our suspicions about the economy in this title will be validated and confirmed.
It will indeed be interesting to see what happens next.
I’m going to be watching what happens with the newest location to farm in SS cove, a location with sharks. We’ll see.
I find it hilarious people are posting Economics 101 but forget about economic shortage, it’s fundamental to any in game economy and that’s exactly what people are describing in their posts in here. Taking a course in college doesn’t mean you understand the fundamentals and doesn’t wipe clean the slate of bad decisions we’ve seen in this game and others (remember D3?) over the past year. It also doesn’t change the fact that every time a nerf spot occurs the prices rise even without people being in these forums talking about said item. It doesn’t forgive how they claimed they liked legit farmers on their Reddit message telling people they’d adjust DR so that it wouldn’t affect legit farmers months ago, which still hasn’t happened. It doesn’t change the possibility of there being a Wi Flagged style algorithm bug in the system causing people to not only hit DR faster then others but also have it last long long after they’ve logged out and across multiple characters. There’s a reason why WoW has 8 million players still to this day, carrot on a stick, take that out and people will leave, they learned that early on.
If they had come clean prelaunch in their interviews and been honest with how they really felt about farmers, legit farmers, then they would have lost sales so basically what we’re seeing is an unethical system of advertisement, “play how you want, except in these instances,” we’ll change the entire game after launch so what you experienced at launch won’t be anything near what your friends experience months after your excitement ends. That’s what I’m saying. The problem isn’t just that there aren’t enough farming areas there’s this big hole where a rewards system should be, and the economy is based off the ancient poorly designed system (even then) of the 2004 RNG everything. Limit the resources in this way and people will leave. One can only imagine what will happen when games that don’t lean on a single currency for everything in a game launch this year. I’ll be watching.
There’s another area in SS cove where you can farm sharks, if indeed they nerf that one then my suspicions will be validated.
Magic find does not give an higher change of double drops. This has been claimed, researched and been declared a myth. MF has no effect on fine material drops, whatsoever. if there is an effect notable it is a negative effect.
If you want to claim different then please do what the people who researched it did. Kill 10,000 foes with and without magic find and keep track of all the drops.
Exactly.
Add to that that there is not other means other than the nerfed locations and the double RNG effect for getting T6 mats. We can’t get them from salvages, we can’t get them from material nodes, and we can’t get enough baggies anymore, Karma bags don’t provide them (because they nerfed those too) and the only thing that does is Laurels where we can get only 1 bag per laurel which is in no way cost effective. it gets old after a while
It would destroy the economy. Apart from that … win-win???
why would it destroy the economy??? Your buying the Gem store item to un-soulbound the items that not needed and sell it on the TP. A-Net gets their revenue too and we as players get our Gold
It wouldn’t because other games are doing it right now and some have been for years and never had a hitch so. It might actually allow people to earn something other than the people who got those free precursors or started at head start and made a ton when DR didn’t exist and the loot nerfs weren’t in game yet. That’s what people are really worried about.
I think it is in-game already! you right click on an area of the map and a marker appears.
that’s not permanent and I think what he’s asking for is the same thing I and others did way back when exploration was a big thing, the ability to permanently mark on any map the locations of hidden treasure rooms and plant gardens
Good luck, suggested that way back when they first launched. They still haven’t done it yet or any of the other large numbers of things asked for by multiple players at launch.
They’re simply going to have to have another infusion of cash in order to bring their UI up to modern day standards. There’s alot that’s missing.
Actually the major problem is how the game targets, Instead of in front closest targeting it just targets wherever it wants even far far away targets and often behind you.
Honestly it seems that everything boils down to ANet making a gimmick (dodge), into the be all end all of PVE combat. I guess it is supposed to be their solution to the “i swing a sword” issue they jabbered about in that video…
It does to me too. I find it funny that here we are almost at the anniversary and the #1 skills are the ones used the most and repeated so we literally are doing the thing they said they didn’t want us to do, even on diverse classes like Ele and engineer it’s very noticeable.
They’re going to have to make some major changes or they’ll be stuck in the past I fear with alot of things. Not just in combat but in how they reward players and the first step I think they’ll have to take is getting rid of DR.
I agreed with the assessment that Akitten hould always be shared, one of the beautiful things about WoW was personal customization of the ui. My system didn’t look like my roommates or my husbands but we were all able to play easily because we could customize what we needed.
For example as a Paladin healer back in TBC I could easily cast a few spells on people I couldn’t directly target at the time thru a mod that showed these spell buttons on the right side of the person’s party name.
GW2 doesn’t have any such deal, heck they don’t even have direct heals which I feel is a huge weakness when it comes to support roles in any title.
GW2 is in dire need of modern mechanics like dual spec, outfitter etc because these things have literally become so mainstream they are expected at launch, and now here we are coming up on the anniversary and they don’t even have a LFG system installed which should have been put in when in November they started their new FotM dungeon focus last year.
I found it more interesting tho that he didn’t mention the problems new developers make by using 2004 economic and loot drop/progression systems. I can understand EQ using this because at the time that’s all there was RNG everything, however that never pans out well and we end up having a Wi Flagged system where the algorithms don’t function 100% randomly all the time, there are people who get nothing from drops all the time in this system just as there are people who feel like they’ve won the lottery and never fail to get large amounts of drops.
If they’d just expand the reach of the customization it would most likely fix many of the issues players have with the game in no time. They also have a problem with not receiving enough funds from NCsoft to make these changes.

let’s see they took out culling in WvW they nerfed the damage the steal teleport does, and they fixed a bug with steal that allowed for stealth even when not close enough to teleport using that skill and people are still complaining? I think some people need to get out of the Zerker mindset for PVP that’s not effective and even I know that much about PVP.
they could easily do this if they improved where the drops came from. See there’s a different system for the chests that appear for say doing dailies and the ones that are physically sitting there on the ground which is affected by DR but not MF.
They could then improved the rewards for participation.
However their system of participation is still based solely on DPS of the mobs and not support/rezzing. So there’s still some major hoops to fix here along with how they reward people for their time.
Oh and WrayWray, you are cray cray in da hay hay okay kay? LOL sorry couldn’t resist.
One of the sharks I killed there dropped The Legend, that’s like… 590g per 10 seconds, or 3540g per minute. If you keep going, it’s 212,400g an hour.
Farm now, before nerf.
+1
I did and have to say he’s got something. I was there until i hit the DR wall then nothing dropped but greys if anything.
My roommate came into the room and asked me rightly so, “You’re still playing that game? Why?” I thought about how they’ll most likely nerf this one next and realized I didn’t have an answer for him.
