Necros can’t control their pets, but the only part of that control problem that is actually a problem is getting them to attack what you want them to attack, or not attack what you don’t want them to attack.
With all due respect, DUH! That’s the only control I mentioned the lack of.
They don’t agro things, anymore, unless you agroed them first. It was supposed to be on Ranger and Necro pets, and I know it’s the case for Ranger, so it should be the case for Necro too.
Woulda, coulda shoulda. My Flesh Golem aggroed several Risens tonight (it’s 3:12 AM CDT on June 3, 2013) in Mt. Maelstrom along the road. I was not close enough to aggro them, and in fact, they didn’t attack me- they immediately attacked my flesh Golem who was mindlessly roaming ahead of me and slightly to the left side of the road, too close to the Risens in the creek/swamp alongside the road.
So either I’m having my usual luck discovering ‘bugs’ that don’t seem to affect other people (lolwut) or they didn’t fix the aggro issue on Necro minions.
My Necro doesn’t summon, though, so I can’t actually confirm it.
It’s not your imagination my ranger does that everywhere i go.
It’s not so limited to AI tho it’s also their aggro table. It should be the same as ours but smaller because these pets just go all over the place.
They also are in despirate need of immunity to AOE style attacks for every pet across the board even if it’s only 80% because it’s insane to have to resummon something within two seconds of having it.
And when I say that it’s not just for one class I’m talking all of the necro pets, turrets, elite skills (both racial and class), traps that summon help, the whole shabang because it shouldn’t be so easy for enemies or other players to just send an AOE after the pets and then ignore them entirely to focus on the player. That’s not skillfull that’s a free pass by the devs.

please shorten the cooldowns for picking up turrets.
15 seconds is way too long to pickup a turret turn the on switch to off and do a minor reload before placing it back on the ground again.
On top of that it’s extremely frustrating when some of the turrets have severely inconsistant cooldowns on both the toolbelt and the pickup cooldown.
Now I can understand it being completely different when these things explode, that’s an entirely different story because basically we have to re-assemble the thing from scratch.
However when you pick it up there shouldn’t be an extremely long cooldown time because it’s intact and it takes very little to place it down and press the on switch.
Please fix this. Thanks.
Yeah we definitely need a solution here for this. Two classes should not be the limit on the number of classes that can have a speed boost option all the time. This game has no mounts and we have to rely on people posting thing in map chat. by the time we get to certain events the events are over or we have the cooldown problem.
As an engineer I feel your pain, I’m tired of changing out hobopacks every second just to travel somewhere.
This was posted in another thread but the thread was the kind that would never be moved here and there wasn’t much talk about it.
Someone mentioned that the T6 dusts (or materials like it) actually dropped from salvages in GW1 and If that’s so I would like to make a request.
Please make T6 dusts T6 lodestones and the like salvageable from level 80 whites blues and greens.
Thanks.
This game seriously needs a Firefall style map event location indicator so that we can actually see where these events are occurring on the maps.
Right now it’s extremely regional.
Please read my list of improvements I posted when this game launched.
Let me also add that they would do well to make difficulty levels for harder content and improve rewards systems alround. This game is so anti-reward it’s not really a pleasant experience to play and then not have the carrot yeah know. There also seems to be some kind of anti-solo play going on here that’s not really healthy for the PVE content. Every mmo has had to go thru learning that the way you keep players coming is include enough solo play in PVE so they have stuff to do not to mention enough minigames with rewards so that players can have something to do inbetween the PVE content slots, it’s definitely missing alot.
There’s only so many out of the 2 minigames you can get into until it gets old. And guild currencies should not be 100% all guild all the time, there comes a time when some guildies should be able to join in with non guildies in world events and get a currency they can use for useful items like T6 materials needed for crafting buffs and bonus consumables.
(edited by tigirius.9014)
we need it on all classes in PVE put it on something we can equip on our utility bar I don’t care (rocket boots for engineers for instance) however we all need it. This system of teleporting the loadscreens don’t load fast enough in PVE and if they truly won’t ever load mounts then this is a must.
Tired of switching kits all the time just to travel while gathering on my engi.
some enhancements needed to direct healing are in order.
Bombs and grenades shouldn’t be the only direct heals available to the engineer class we should be able to heal from a short distance.
The problem with bombs and AOE heal zones is that bosses tend to know where these zones will be so they are useless in that a high damage AOE zone is dropped by the boss on the same spot so instead of receiving the benefit of it, people have to leap out of it. Bombs require that we’re right on top of the action to actually able to tell what’s happening most of the time due to the enormously distracting million condition zones happening all at once.
So here’s the deal. Please add a trait that allows for turrets like the flame turret to be converted to a directional heal.
Change the Fumigate spell or add a trait to it so that we’d have to trait into it to do this but make that a directional cone heal.
it would greatly improve the healing skills for this class and bring them up to par with other classes.
Oh and please look at the skills that don’t presently gain anything of a bonus from the +healing on gear there’s a ton of them that don’t stack over on the engineer. Thanks.
I have to say I definitely noticed they changed something with the traps. 2 months ago while testing the differences between the condition build engineer and the condition build trap ranger, the trap ranger could three shot groups of mobs without issue in PVE.
Not anymore, something definitely changed and in the spirit of their separation of PVE WVW PVP skills they need to change it back.
Well the way i see it is this, they allow people to sell them might as well I’ve always thought that it would make the game so much better for altaholics (which basically they like) to make karma points and armor/gear account bound instead of character bound.
OMG yes! A fix to cursor visibility would be awesome!
Yeah i noticed that bug too.
The cursor goes poof while aiming especially in large crowds. The kit dumps itself after a long time of use. It’s weird. Fix plz.
sigh PVE still says “This playlist has no videos”
Here’s a question, is conquest available for PVE players for currency like Karma?
I’ve been hoarding my daily jars that’s about the only way really, i have about 50 of the things by now.
I love the fact thakittens now turning into a crusade to shut Vayne up. Something something then they laugh at you something.
As for Anet’s ‘changing’ the loot system, I have an outstanding question as to whether or not the Magic / Gold Find NPCs will make their way across Tyria, but that remains to be seen.
More ancedotal evidence!
Well you see about that Vayne thing, he does spend all his time in the forums trying to debunk every major complaint out there about anything. He’s pretty much made a name for himself by denying every problem players face and trying to convince the world there’s nothing wrong with anything, the game has no issues according to Vayne.
Also, about that price thing, 200% inflation due to economic shortage does not make for lack of a problem it makes for a bigger problem. The runes and sigils I’ve been following that have been steadily inflating every time there’s a shortage due to loot nerfs over the months I’ve watched them have become in the high gold range and have not stopped inflating.
The economy is going down the toilet, any and every new player knows this from experience and no amount of wishful thinking is going to change that. The fact that they have allowed any of the prices on these things to be way over the top in the 9-13 gold range without a method of getting them without gold is sad.
Economic shortage through loot nerfs is never the answer to a problem and it extends well beyond this one item has all along. People say you can get geared just by leveling to 80, not when you factor into the equation that you have to farm just to get runes and sigils for multiple weapon types and for the most expensive and demanded build in the game, Zerker.
Which is why sell orders are up, buy orders are dropping back towards 30k, and the price has been pretty flat for a good week.
Well you see about that Vayne thing, he does spend all his time in the forums trying to debunk every major complaint out there about anything. He’s even been spotted in class forums posting things like “because there’s balance in PVP your class is perfectly fine to play in PVE” nonsense.
Also, about that price thing, 200% inflation due to economic shortage does not make for lack of a problem it makes for a bigger problem. The game needs a better system of acquiring runes and sigils for gearing. RNG is bad enough but having everything cost 1 single currency is really really bad game design as we’ve all seen in other mmos from long ago who’s developers also had to learn this the hard way.
And on top of the nerfs in this case there’s also speculation that there is indeed still something wrong with DR sticking to certain accounts no matter what anyone tries to relieve it.
Am I the only one who doesn’t like HGH builds? I feel naked without at least 2 kits, making them pretty awful for me to use every time I try. I always end up in some situation where the extra kit could have saved me or allowed me to pull off something awesome. For example, yesterday I was soloing a supply camp and ended up getting jumped. I was able to elixir gun blast myself away, gear shield block, run up a hill…drop smoke bomb, detonate my shield for stealth, then run directly through the 10 people chasing me and into the water. Wish I recorded it
I also feel like not running healing turret, especially in team WvW, is really a no go for me…it brings way too much to team fights.
To directly answer, yes there are definitely non-HGH viable builds. Whoever said Engi are pigeon holed currently is silly – we probably have more viable build diversity than most other professions.
I haven’t run HGH in ages. I find it very boring and repetitive.
Me too. Stacking 25 stacks of anything just to do decent damage is not only boring it’s also a testament to just how broken the class is.
Basically @Amadeus they gave us leather armor (adventurer class) but the traits of a soldier class.
Adventurer classes = Thief Ranger
Soldier classes = Warrior Guardian
Because of the missing traits in our lines we don’t have near as many boon appliers and the behaviors of our traits are more closely related to those of the warrior or guardian (but with fewer boons) rather than a thief or ranger.
So our traits are discombobulated and needs some serious work.
I have to laugh at the people who constantly tell me that I’m just greedy for a legendary because as an engineer there’s nothing really there for us. There’s some weird toy gun and there’s this techy looking rifle but nothing to catch my eye. If they looked at my post history they would see I spend all my time in the engineering forums trying to get them to make improvements on that class and only that class for a reason, it’s my main.
OP I completely agree, it’s not limited to this but yeah we have a fashion statement issue as well as an issue with not seeing the weapons due to kits. and breaking kit refinement hasn’t stopped people from using kits exclusively.
But that’s not the worst thing, the worst thing is since we are stuck with leather armor everything is an overcoat or a london fog knockoff for armor choices. If we had been heavy as intended originally we’d have much better armor choices, our suits could look totally like the siege engines Charr build.
Even our shields are sparse.
Oh GODDESS I want steampunk weapons and armor since this game launched and while I found a few pieces that are close there’s alot missing.
Fractals and ascended gear don’t exist I guess. And any dungeon that isn’t cof p1. Your right, 100% casual, no challenging things at all.
These are not challenging, and neither are most of the current dungeons. The anti-trinity zeal of the devs lead to mechanics that necessitate this; the only difficulty in this game comes from timing your dodge properly or perceiving one-shot tells in the kitten storm of graphical effects that usually surrounds any boss under attack. Combat is based around invulnerability frames, not the intelligent use of skills with meaningful trade-offs.
I agree in that aspect, boss fights are ridiculous. They were overzealous with the protections from CC afforded bosses and the underwealming healing of the support roles and some of us rightly believe that they have code in the AI of the bosses that purposefully are able to drop an OP AOE right on top of any AOE heal zone created while in combat.
Their personal trinity doesn’t exist in this game for boss fights. CC is a complete joke.
It seems quite clear there is a problem with T6 Mats that is only affecting some people. Some people (as in another post) think you can still get between 1 and 5 an hour through normal play, and that certainly used to be the case for me. But I am seeing probably 1 a week now (15-20 hours play).
Is DR bugged and "sticking"on certain people is what I want to know?
This is a serious problem for me and, no, I am not a farmer.
I am a farmer and it’s been sticking to me for months now. Seriously DR is bad and it’s harming the players.
It’s the only explanation because they claim there isn’t anything wrong every time it’s brought up.
I’ve read Vawn’s post about the Wi Flagged thread and it makes me wonder if something like this is happening in this game.
RNG mechanisms like this look great on paper but I’m wondering if something like that is causing DR to stay far too long on my account because I’ve tried all of the suggestions people have made to try to get DR off my character in order to have a semi normal drop rate experience in Orr and in the SS cove events and nothing seems to work.
I know this is long but here’s basically my event experience:
~~ In Orr the creatures are all the same creature in a zone so in order to travel one has to kill on the way over to the enemies that appear temporarily in an event like the Risen attacking the camps in multiple locations. By the time I get there, even with reduced mob counts, I have to fight about ten or so mobs if I’m close (16 if I’m far) so when mobs appear en mass, I’m already in a DR situation because I’ve received my first skull and there’s no drops from the last few mobs I attack.
When I do the temporary event, the mobs appearing in the event add to my DR stack/count so to speak. If I stay in the area like in the two camps that are connected by a tunnel I end up having the same issues.
Originally it was all grey porous bones dropping, but a couple months back it started to drop nothing off of 50% of the mobs I encountered at least. Now logging in feels like a chore because I’ve literally tried everything. I’ve tried teleporting to a nearby teleport, I’ve tried zoning into the next zone over, I’ve tried not killing before getting there (which is really difficult in some places) I’ve tried it with and without mf boosts of all kinds, I’ve tried to do all gathering only killing when i had to to get around a mob.
There comes a point where it becomes too much, I shouldn’t be working this hard to make enough gold to get by with teleport costs, having to constantly change my build because of broken traits/aspects of the engineer class, or due to trying to gear an alt. It’s so frustrating and yes this is the only game out of the five that I bounce around between that does this. (three of which I’m waiting on certain changes to be uploaded they’re in the testing phase right now). I didn’t even have this problem in WoW. Those rogue lockboxes? I’d farm those all the time and get them the really rare items in these boxes pretty regularly from pick pocketing.
This has been the only game that’s ever done this which makes me wonder if there’s seriously something wrong, and let me just be clear, RNG is when something other then the same thing happens all the time.
I hope they answer you OP we need answers for sure.
(edited by tigirius.9014)
Someone asked this in the engineer forums I believe the majority said post it in Reddit because posting it in the forums prolly never reaches the devs. Other then that suggestion forums.
I think the AI needs a huge overhaul for the pets including the clones.
They also need a bit of resistance to AOE damage just like the more permanent pets do across the board otherwise pet classes are a bit useless.
If this were an engineer style gameplay we’d spill a large puddle of Au Jus on the floor, better wear your non stick shoes to work!
And we’d throw these tiny Hors D’eurvres at people’s mouths to have an explosion of flavor.
No they said the game was for everyone.
Not really.
Remember the Manifesto? “If you like MMOs, you will like Guild Wars 2. If you don’t like MMOs, you will really like Guild Wars 2”. With a bit of reading comprehension, it’s quite clear that ArenaNet’s target audience wasn’t the mass of MMO locusts who keep jumping from MMO to MMO looking for the next WoW clone, rather those players who are not deceived by the usual tricks employed by the current MMORPGs and who see them as the time sink Skinner boxes that they, in fact, are.
I wish they told me the game wasn’t meant for the majority of ppl who actually LIKE MMO’s and were interested in a B2P one, before buying it…
See above. They did.
That’s funny because it’s been my experience that the hard core dungeoneers are usually the ones that bounce from game to game and the casual players which includes the farmers RPers and PVE only players who genuinely give the game a chance to become a home with fond memories.
Catering to casuals: incidentally that’s definitely not what happened. At first it was perfect, they promised many things in the coming months post launch and we thought everything would be okay but then a ton of bricks was dropped on this game and every promise made to the casual community was swept under a rug all at once. Here’s a few from the list I gathered prelaunch. Mobile apps, gone. No new tier armor, not. Permanent DEs and metas in the lower and mid level zones every month because production was so much less expensive and so quick, nope. minigames, stopped at 2 permanent ones. changes to home channel in town, nope. in depth crafting, everything has been the mystic toilet since for any permanent additions.
And then there were the post launch things said that bother the heck out of me. ‘we love legit farmers and want them to stay so we’re working on making DR only affect the bots so farmers can continue to play normally’ and ’we’re dedicated to our philosophy of playing the game how you want to play and still having a rewarding experience’ I’m paraphrasing because frankly I’m too tired to go find the quotes again, basically that’s what they said and both times they’ve acted in an untrustworthy manner.
Why do I still care? I spent money on their product I expect what I paid for.
I find it funny that the OP actually thinks they are catering to my type of player when they really haven’t. See they have catered to the PVP crowd the most and I’m not hating they can cater to who they wants but let’s get real here, there’s a long long list of suggestions found in other games for years that this game does not have that would make it catering to casuals as well as a long list of things they said they’d do pre/post launch that are definitely casual friendly that they didn’t do. Cmon let’s be honest here about who they really are catering to.
Wasn’t there a promise about two handers having two upgrade slots because they took the place of two 1 handers?
All tiers of Dust should be a Salvage item from certain weapons just like it was in GW1.
PROBLEM SOLVED.
…gotta love how Anet broke so many things for this game that used to be perfect and we get these HUGE THREADS that go on forever, every month about what should be done or what the speculators & fankids think shouldn’t be done…
GIMME A BREAK. And stop “fixing” things that weren’t broken in the first game
I’d personally love that since all I get are mostly whites all the time anyways. If I could get these dusts off the whites from the level 75-80 drops there wouldn’t be a single issue. Along with the lodestones, powerful bloods, the vicious claws etc etc. All the crazy insane win the lottery drops for those of us who hit DR after 6 kills in any event anywhere would be fixed.
WoW is actually trying it’s hand at open world content for the first time so that’s what I found funny about this video because I just read about that the other day LOL
I like events but as the video indicates, it is truly not dynamic and seeing the same content for a year in this game is the problem and LS is so not the solution.
Prelaunch every interview was about how they’d add totally new events to the world in all of the lower and mid level zones every month so we would never have to worry about the world becoming stagnant or empty. If I had known then what I know now….
I know some will suggest to rebind them but when I am in tight spots I press every button except the one I intended to. Like if I try to use my heal in Q I press Tab, 1, A, W it happens so often and that’s just with something in Q.
I wanted to try Mesmer/Ele but I can’t for the life of me press Blink, Decoy etc. in the time I need them. I have to either try to click, which means I lose control of the camera or I have to stop moving, look at the keyboard and use my left hand to press the button.
What classes are suggested with my handicap?
That’s one reason why i can’t play mesmer either and I used a nostromo.
I would personally suggest getting one of those mice with three buttons and a scroll (the button in the center is offset from the scroller on the mouse so it’s easier and lasts longer) that way you’d have an extra button to bind either an elite (which would prolly be the best bet for the life of the mouse) or 6.
Some have suggested using a xbox controller I haven’t tried this yet but heard it works well for games with this style of combat.
i have some friends that play gw2 that doesnt come to the game anymore because they have nothing to do in the game
I’m in that category. I can’t farm. I login to just do the new content which lasts 2 days max for me. I do the solo stuff. I login to do dailies in between. Nothing else is appealing. And the only reason I login to do dailies is due to the Tier 6 mats i can get from laurels because really I don’t want anything they have to offer us in the laurel vendor that one must save for.
I tried enjoying the scenery and just watching the npc’s but really there’s only so much of that you can do before it becomes redundant and boring.
As far as fanboyism goes, I was the biggest fanboy for this game. I really was in the beginning. Anyone said a negative thing i went and researched it and told them off. Since November I see that some of the warnings some people were offering up evidence for were really true and I’ve since gone back and apologized for my actions. I can’t really tell you how disappointed I am or express fully in open forums here about what really happened with their philosophy and their post launch shift in reverse but I can say that it was not at all a good business practice. No one can simply tell people they are planning to do one thing with a game and then do the exact opposite and not expect their customers to be mad at them for it.
(edited by tigirius.9014)
Unfortunately Engineer is very much a one trick pony..
Yep right now they messed up the traits in the engineer tree. It’s nowhere near what the ranger and thief enjoy in terms of multiple ways of building might fury and other boons. It’s all just elixirs or the FT traits.
They have us so pigeonholed we don’t really have a choice. The same goes for speed. Every single build out there uses 10 points in the last line because we have 0 options for speed boosts while out of combat unlike the other two adventurer classes.
Wow no one knows?
Seeing this company chase away their own customer’s is quite funny to watch actually.
I hope they keep doing this.
They’re chasing away the hard core farmers who complain on every forum in every game. If they all left, it wouldn’t substantially make that much of a difference. There aren’t as many of them as you seem to think.
What about the players who complain about wanting permanent content, they aren’t “hard core farmers” yet they seem to be chasing them away to. I don’t think you have a clue about what you are talking about. You don’t know what other players want or don’t want, and you don’t know what Anet’s intentions are so don’t act like you do, you’re just blowing a bunch of hot air at all of us and so what if you’re anti-farming, good for you, then say what ya have to say and leave it at that.
And as far as farmers in the game, I would think that anyone who plans on going for a Legendary, at any point in game, would have to be called a farmer, of some type, because they farm either the mats for the gifts, or the gold to acquire the mats for the gifts.
Exactly. The whole game is a farm when legendaries are concerned. Not to mention if you actually want Runes and Sigils for your gear. Next I’ll hear how you can play effectively without them (sigh smh) that’s coming I can just feel it. If you could buy runes and sigils like you can the gear pieces for karma then it would be a different story, even the bags need gold in this game.
It’s okay folks you can play the entire game in greys you don’t actually need dusts or anything, don’t need loot at all. You can just login in your underwear so that you can take pictures of the scenery because that’s the only activity to worry about, so long as the game is pretty no one has to worry about anything.
I wish some of these naysayers could really really hear themselves sometimes.
I tried variations of this and it does work well on regular mobs, bosses however seem to be immune to everything CC. See Kaabooses posts about that.
There’s also a problem with these bolts going off in weird directions when using anything that does an AOE or nontarget attack (like throwin a potion, putting down a bob or mine field, using a regen toolbelt skill) so there’s not much one can use with this.
Haven’t used it since months ago because BoB kept missing and the explosive radius problem was present at that time.
It’s always interesting to see what other games do with this persona.
The toys for the engineer in one of the expansions of WoW were more useful they had a beam device that would heal siege equipment.
The Traps in the Arbiter tree of the Vanquisher class in Torchlight actually worked better than the turrets in this title, for one thing we could actually increase their damage significantly manually.
The mines and explosives from the Rift Rogue Saboteur class could set up three AOE explosions that would three shot most crowds end game when traited and geared properly.
The new Torchlight 2 engineer has bots that follow the engineer around and some cannot be attacked. I personally love the healbot, little guy gives me a heal every few seconds or so. They also have a temporary machine gun style bot that only can be summoned for about 2-3 minutes at a time. Does alot of single target damage.
(edited by tigirius.9014)
Pistols that fire as slowly as rifles.
Jump shots that have landing issues.
Rocket boots that self CC.
Mortar shots that take too long to land on the enemies.
The list is long.
Where did gkaare and CC Charles go? Last posts on both of them are about 3 months ago?
If you didn’t know already gkaare posted the stickied list of engineer bugs 6 months ago, and CC Charles made it a sticky almost immediately. Is there no one now that’s acting like an advocate for engineers because if that’s the case that would explain alot.
Sigil of Energy is a reasonable substitute for Sigil of Battle for sure.
Kit Refinement is a terrible trait these days. “Vacuum bomb” has like a 360 range and has a pathetic pull. Also, it would conflict with the Elixir Gun’s Kit Refinement. Glue Bomb and Elixir F is sufficient to keep the enemy close to you.
Completely agree with you there, they did a terribad job with that one. Tiny loogie sized glue spots on EG cmon now and the lack of anything happening on the toolkit when used it just crazy i miss the instant free caltrops.
According to the devs, and other personnel, feedback is collected from all the threads
Except of course from the engineer and necro players, and the entire suggestions forum.
The only time they’ve posted in suggestions is to say they do read it, and yet not a single thing has ever been taken from it, and it seems to be where they send ideas they don’t want anyone to actually consider. Since ideas that mesh with the goals they already have are frequently allowed to stay wherever they are first posted.
Engineers and necros just got their first red post in almost six months, addressing a bug, one single bug each.
Same with rangers, elementalist and warriors. The point being almost every profession thread have post of players thinking that their issues should take precedent over others. The rangers had to deal with that kitten for months, you guys should have to as well, well not really but I am petty so yeah.
Rangers started out as one of the best PvP classes and were nerfed shortly after release, and have since been buffed. Necros and engineers started as the two worst classes and have stayed that way, the engineer has even been nerfed, repeatedly. Don’t give me any bullcrap about taking turns.
Add to that the insult of the elites being modified for warriors to be better and more dev responses in the warriors forums then in every other post and you have a rightly mad bunch of PVE engineers on your hands. I just checked. Go look for yourself. There are far more posts in the warrior forums then in engineers or necros.
Also Rangers only got certain things buffed recently, they still have not fixed pets like every other mmo out there has had to fix pets across the board so they don’t die in 2 seconds.
Most of the updates were definitely pointless. Blizzard had countless updates and tweaks to the game every day. But, WoW also had about 4 times the content that Guild Wars 2 has at the moment, so I found myself happy with the amount of content I could complete until an expansion came out. In other words, I didn’t need the constant updates that GW2 has to do constantly when I was playing WoW. So GW2 has a lot more updates than WoW, but WoW’s updates were better, with less bugs.
There’s a big big reason for this that most players have ignored or outright lied about trying to make it not happen.
PTR.
WoW used the PTR big time and it saved the players alot of headaches in the long run. This game uses some kind of weird testing I’ve never seen before in any mmo out even the F2P ones that are old as dirt as well as the ones just released, they all have PTR’s. It’s just essential to make sure that mistakes don’t happen, mistakes like the three weakest classes in this game.
Well I can tell you from an engineer point of fact that we do not have rifle shots that turn the enemies away and make them run.
We do not have jump shots that actually work that fast.
None of our skills kill that quickly a more accurate show would be us having to put down an entire set of all three turrets that do damage along with our healing turret, and a drop elite to kill that quickly.
Also those grenades, nothing like what’s actually in game. The actual number of grenades to kill even a single skritt in a level 60+ zone is 15 and that’s with heavy condition damage build.
The mine doesn’t actually do much damage it just has a knockback.
And we absolutely do not have the ability to catch spells and then throw them back with our shield.
Whats sad is now it’s one of the weakest PVE classes in the game because we’ve yet to see them repair the damage they’ve done to the class for months because they didn’t initially separate the behaviors and damage nerfs between the three play styles PVE PVP WVW which has damaged this class immensely.
In GW2 it’s a whole new ballgame. I can still farm sure, but lord almighty is it TOTALLY NOT WORTH MY TIME.
MF % this time around = 41%. Now, I know saying this isn’t very reputable information to base all claims on, but I’ve farmed enough and spent enough time to make the decision that for me personally, MF is not worth it.
TL;DR GIVE US SOME PLACES TO FARM WHERE THE DROP RATE ISNT 0.00005%
Totally agree something has been very wrong with the magic find system for a long time. I use the luck sigil on my gear. I get it from 101% to about 116% while trying to build the maximum amount of mf I can get right now with the total lack of income due to the total lack of drops off anything.
I get it to 116% and suddenly I get all kinds of drops off everything. I get it to 147% with food and nothing drops?! this happens all the time and not by killing the same mobs either this is from farming just about anything suddenly it stops working after you reach a certain point. I’m going to test this more. The next time I get a few luck stacks I’m going to switch out my weapons and stop the luck from building to see if there’s a sweet spot where the MF doesn’t cut off the drops.
I understand man. Sometimes it’s difficult for engineers too because our PVE damage is way off balance in this game. It takes us three times the number of attacks than most classes to finish off a mob even in the level 50 zones even when we’re doing all the right things.
You are playing one of the weakest classes for survival and even tho they did increase the hitpoints of thieves briefly, just like the Turrets and the pets, this class needs some defense help.
I would personally ignore all the leetist comments and just focus on finding out in your class forum the best defensive yet acceptional DPS role you can use in PVE for the time being that’s if you still desire to play.
I’m having a hard time logging in personally with the problems of lacking rewards and PVE imbalance.
I like that they are making an effort to update more often don’t get me wrong, it’s the content of those updates that bothers the hades out of me.
The lack of concern for PVE balance.
The serious flaws with the LS making the world even more empty.
The lack of permanent content (yes I read what he wrote).
And the mismanagement when it comes to squashing bugs we’ve had since before launch makes me question where this is all heading. If they truly did make a buttload of money as NCsoft’s report mentioned, then why haven’t they hired contractors to work these things out in one major patch to squash these problems once and for all? Why hasn’t any of the money I and all the rest of the players been put back into this game to make it the best it can be?
TL;DR they read all the sections.
Plenty of evidence to the contrary. ~~ An Engineer.
OP I honestly would love to know as well. As far as FB is concerned there’s ways of blocking unwanted posts on their pages or preventing people from contacting them.
Twitter doesn’t have space large enough to properly formulate a complaint about something.
As far as Reddit is concerned that’s probably the best bet considering that’s what they’ve used in earnest pre and post launch and even with information prior to adding it to their wiki pages before we convinced them that posting in forums the patch notes per patch was more honest then posting in Reddit.
I don’t get rewarded for my time doing even the things they want me to do much less the farming in this title.
If the game is fun, playing should be reward enough. If the game isn’t fun, then you should find something else to do with your free time. It really is that simple.
So basically you want everyone to login just for the scenery and to watch some NPC’s do some dialog everyday?
That’s a bit naive that everyone should expect that from an mmo because that’s what’s happening here. Do you think WoW would have kept their 8 million players had they done that? nope.
I’m 39 and I think it’s naive to believe that people just want to login to games to simply look at the scenery or to watch replays of the NPC dialog. There needs to be rewards and the problem is that if you want to get a legendary there’s a massive grind involved. If you want Runes and sigils to be crafted then there’s a massive grind involved because I’ve never had a single stone drop from any of the Orr boxes I’ve bought or the T6 baggies bought with laurels.
There has to be a viable means to keep these things flowing in the economy as well as make them readily available for crafters otherwise why have crafting at all if you’re just going to have a mystic toilet.
Other game titles had alternative activities to get the materials you needed. I’ve played about 15 mmos in my time and there were some great designs for things like this. Mobile apps lotteries scratchoffs fishing rewards bloated fish Vendorfish and boxes fished up filled with crafting supplies the list is very long.
These devs really aren’t showing me that they are the gamers they claim to be unless it’s all console which even then wouldn’t explain why they haven’t done things that are part of mmo history as far back as UO
Two hints. For the dailies when you are about to do events in Orr and or SS try not to kill anything on your way there. When you get there there will be plenty to kill and you don’t want to be stuck in DR not getting any loot from participating in the event.
Vendor your greens and TP your rares. Greens are not worth salvaging they give more when sold as a vendor item. Rares don’t always live up to their expectations when salvaging for globs of ectos so I have just started the habit of selling them right out. One never knows when we’ll have yet another salvaging issue with globs. There’s been two so far in this game both times there were bugs.
While i agree the game is more casual then anything you’ll ever find when it comes to gear…..
AND that they still have yet to recognize that we need rewards to continue playing post level 80 preferably ones that can be obtained solo as well as in groups…
This game is far from a casuals dream.
There’s a ton of stuff wrong with the game not to mention tons of activities missing. It’s like some kind of weird limbo. They want you to play just for the scenery and a couple of npc’s talking to one another.
What they could be doing to the game to include both casuals and the hard core is just not happening.
The casuals side they could be adding all kinds of activities to the game with great in game rewards that everyone likes like non RNG rewards for crafting or non-store bought items as rewards.
On the hardcore side they could be adding a difficulty level meter so that all of the content of the game could be on multiple difficulty levels. That way casuals would never be cut off by gated content like they suggested they would do in future patches with the coming of ascended gear and agony resist, AND at the same time balance the harder content to make it more challenging to the players who like to go the elitist route.
If they spent more time doing that instead of worrying about people actually getting loot from events they’d have the best game ever, right now however, it’s very broken stagnant and it’s not offering much to anyone except those who are leveling.
Vayne, your general assumptions are outrageous. “Casuals will spend more, thats a fact”. How do you know? Casuals might view this game as a pass-time hobby, something to do for an hour each night, and then log off, not taking the game too seriously. Thus, why would they spend money on it? If I am a casual, and I only play for a short period each night or every other night, why would I want to invest a lot of money in something that I spend little time on, and possibly care little about? Youre entire arguement is insane and infact contradicts logic.
I’m throwing the flag, there’s too many absolutes between the both of you. Its likely that casuals such as myself with less free time and more money will actually spend considering that we’re enjoying what time we can spare with our favorite hobby. That’s my experience. That said, its also not a certainty. Some will spend less, some will be more hardcore.
I’m a casual, prolly the most casual here. I do have alot of free time, and even with that free time, I don’t get rewarded for my time doing even the things they want me to do much less the farming in this title.
I also haven’t spent a dime since Nov 2012 because of all of the nerfs to loot, DR, and such. I do have money, but why spend it as a reward to those who spit in your face because you have this play style and they don’t want you to play that way. That’s not how you endear your players to you or your products. A car salesman doesn’t spit in the faces of those who drive sports cars while trying to sell sports cars.
It’s like they’ve forgotten that the real reason people play is for the dangling carrot on a stick. That’s what’s fun and addictive about it all. Take that carrot out and there’s nothing to login for really except some tidbits of repeating lore and some backdrops one takes while on vacation in some foreign location.
