Work around for Grenade Spam without autocast ?

Hi guys,

when i play in groups/dungeons or in keep defense ther are some situations where i just spam nades. I guess i am not the only one.

I hate it because i dont have autocast for the normal #1 Grenade. Is there a way to spam nades more easly then hitting #1 all the time?
I dont know any other #1 spell which uses ground targeting, but it would be nice to use autocast on them as well….

…..or am i just to stupid

Not stupid at all. Many of us have requested this feature to be changed just for the first two abilities on this kit so that we can continue to move and fight while dodging etc and because it’s inconsistent with other weapon kits in our arsenal.

We’re all hoping this is fixed in the next patch.

Warrior Sniper Vs. Engie Sniper

Two things:

- Engineers are supposed to use kits to compensate for their perceived shortcomings. You’re not using any kits.

- Warriors are supposed to be a high-DPS, high survivability class. Engineers are supposed to be a high flexibility class with more than two or three strengths.

Engis aren’t using kits because they are:

A: broken in their explosion radius is not correct for the weapon type, the targeting and continuous button pushing isn’t consistent with the other weapons, try dodging and straffing while pointing where you want the grenades to land. yeah.

B: cond/heal has been so nerfed that we’re actually being pigeonholed into a single pistol/rifle pow/pre/%damage cookie cutter build insteado f having said flexibility.

C: has serius targeting bugs involved with abilities that should really be an AOE effect but suddenly stop hitting the enemy despite the animation of the engineer turning to catch the enemy as well as the targeting being limited to 3 enemies on the FT kit.

So yeah there’s some big issues that we hope they will fix to bring back the flexibility to the profession.

I’m hoping for fixes to healing/cond builds.
I’m hoping for better skillsets.
I hope they add hammers/maces to our weapon choices.
I hope they fix the kits to improve their functionality lie updating the bandage kit and making the healing regen effects not overlap one another from the turret, the elixir gun, and their Fkey abilities.
I hope they fix the AOE misses on the FT and the Grenade kits and expand the explosion radius.
I hope they make the #1 and #2 abilities be a tab target effect on the grenade kit.
I hope they make all bullets explosive bullets even on rifles.

Med Kit vs. Healing Turret

They need to revamp this kit entirely. They need to at least to make the drops whole sets of bandages not just one at a time. they need to add more AOE heal drops. They need to fix the problems that cond/heal nerfs have caused with this profession specifically. And they need to improve a couple of the abilities on the elixir gun to improve it’s abilities and to not allow the regen abilities to be the same exact regen that the turret and AOE elixir shots give. They need a shorter larger burst per tick type of regen so that those regens don’t overlap with the ones from the Fkey skills and of the turret and the gun.

Why on Tyria can't Engineer repair Siege in WvW

LOL really?! wow someone dropped the ball on that one. Even in other games that had engineer as a crafting skillset rather then a class had items that would repair or easily more quickly destroy seige machines in pvp games like this.

Engineer as a profession might get a big boost to being wanted in situations like this if their abilities in their kits effected seige machines in this manner.

GW2 would benefit from some 10-12 Man Raids

And the ridiculous requests continue!

Yesterday it was bring in some gearscore and some dps meters.

Today it’s let’s give the game even MORE gated gear progression to alienate the REST of the playerbase who would actually stay longer then five minutes (when compared to those making these gated progression requests).

All got from that was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
How the hell do raids alienate people further? What cos they need more friends? Well lets get rid of dungeons and DE’s cos they require other people too. MMO not xbox RPG.

So either thieves, rangers and the such need a COMPLETE skill retool or ANet needs content other then Raids, which of the two do you think is more likely and better for the game?

Those classes aint being left out of dungeons so why would they be left out of raids? I dont see the point of worrying about class balance in raids before they even have em tbh. If those classes are indeed inferior as you claim then they need some love no matter if they implimented raids or not. Balance is needed across the board no matter what.

Check out the ten other games and how people feel about them who play that already have this model. There’s serious progression issues for the entire community as well as lore being cutoff from the community. That’s not a good plan, never has been.

you cannot balance raids unless they are open world. END OF STORY. because it’s GATED progression, that’s why.

instancing dungeons led to the market being so bleakly pigeonholed to one specific play style leading people to come to games like these in the hopes that more instanced dungeons and more gated virtical progression won’t be considered by the devs because of the problems that system creates in the community of gamers and how it divides the community.

secondly, don’t get me started on how the players who ask for raids, instanced dungeons, gear progression from both as the sole progression only stick with a game for a very short time and are not very reliable as sources of revenue due to their fly by night attitudes towards gaming like this. in short, the next shiny comes along and they are gone leaving the rest (and majority btw) of the community holding the bag in a game with mechanics like these that break games entirely. SWTOR anyone?

Yeah so let’s just forget this whole idea for a second. We have enough “raids” in the open world areas we don’t need gated progression ones, we don’t need any more dungeons with higher tier progression they’re adding that to appease the real whining minority in this game, and we don’t need anymore community breaking ideas that go along with these systems.

What they need to do is return to their manifesto add more open world content, add more big open world meta events and everything will be fine.

Asked for this some time ago. Enhancements to the possible drops in these zones would help as well as scaling the drops from chests in these zones. Chests already have a long cooldown so it’s not like people could exploit them.

Two simple things they can do to prevent this from being a problem and to keep the game a horizontal progression as promised by their manifesto.

1: remove all higher stats from the armors in this zone/dungeon to bring their stats on par with exotics. (they can still add infusion to legendaries) Infusion is fine because it only affects the dungeon in this one zone.
2: if they don’t want that then add recipes to be bought with karma from the crafters that give crafters of armor sets the ability to make these items without ever stepping foot in a dungeon for any of the mats (mats either bought with karma or salvaged from items or both). That would bring back the balance.

Unidentified Dyes drops are becoming too scarce

Completely agree also there seems to be a serious bug involved with the November tampering with the drop rates that has severely affected the drop rates of Rares in general and completely broken the MF purpose. I have it on good authority by collecting data from multiple players who are experiencing the same issue that MF no longer functions at all. Anything above 30-40% MF actually reduces the quality of the drops to greys 10% only produces blues. It’s fine if more drops don’t occur but when your drop rate of rares from killing multiple types of mobs drops to 0 after thirty minutes of fighting whereas pre-november changes the drop rates without MF would normally render about 1-3 rares in a higher level zone, then there’s a problem. This is preventing people from progressing in the horizontal sense that we were promised would be the model for this title.

Please fix MF and remove DR from open world as the bots problem seems to be under control.

Swapping characters in dungeon

well I think that the boss fight is probably using the same tagging system used in the open world events system.

if they did get credit that means they tagged it did some damage on their first toon, then switched characters and did some damage on the new character. If that’s the case people could potentially switch toons endlessly and get enough tagging going on the boss to get credit on five or more characters if the battle lasted long enough.

With the upcoming gear increase in stats we can look forward to more exploits like this until they lock out the dungeon boss fights or something.

Dyes should become account based

I think dyes should become account based, not character based.
A lot of people are working hard to get the dyes, and once they want to play on a other character all there dyes will be lost. So I think it’s a better idea to just unlock them for the whole account then

Absolutely agree! I find it suspect that they made the bank account wide, they made the collectibles account wide. but they didn’t with dyes…..did they think people just would throw money at the store for these things in this economy???

sure why not buff all the gear to ascended and stick them all in dungeons only and add gearscore dps meters and make them all drops instead of bought with tokens specific to the dungeon and add a cross server lfg tool system. what does that sound like.

while I share your frustration on the cost of the items end game what they are doing with this game on nov 16th is scary enough. one step at a time.

This is the very reason why people can’t see player names in WvW.

People are abusing the privilege of reporting the actual bots. They do need an overhaul in how they detect bots I agree wholeheartily. I personally if ever I reported someone by accident and realized it before logging report my report in a support ticket right away.

There needs to be the ability to remove your own reports before an admin sees it, like a timer “this report has not been viewed and was placed on ……”.

Their system of support is a little strange, nothing like what I’d expect from a AAA title. Why while i’m in game and monitoring a situation would I EVER want to switch from the game to a browser that has to wait for a website to load to submit a support ticket? Doesn’t that strike you as odd they are doing it this way? And seriously WHY do we not have an in game monitoring of our support tickets? I was under the impression from my friend that works in the computing field that they use universal database protocols for this stuff, how hard would it be to give this game a ui for a better handling of support, name, and bot reporting?

The name thing, i think they should change it to requiring two reports before it needs evaluation to see if it needs changing by a human. Yes there needs to be a human involved in some of these because reporting a name because you don’t like it just needs to have more people involved really…and they need to make this a silent change to the reporting names system so that people won’t say to their friends, “hey this guy isn’t agreeing with me in map chat let’s report his name hurp durp.”

respawn timers do need a looking at, also I thought before this game launched that one of the devs mentioned that the way enemies spawned wouldn’t just be a pop bloop there’s a mob suddenly…. I thought they wanted to give this game a little bit more realism. say in Orr having the Risen run into the location they are normally popping into or crawling out from the ground slowly or one of the flying things like an owl spirit swooping in before reaching the location they normally popin at…..whatever happened to that?

I think this is something they are working on to remedy. It specifically affects pvp in that thieves can appear to be permastealthed by enemies even tho they aren’t. It’ll change I’m sure.

COuld we get some choices for our cursor graphics to use in game? the gold color vanishes when you go to use it in combat. It works fine until you need it. Kind of an 08/13 (vague military history reference)problem.

I’m all for a bigger cursor, but I think also they need to change many of the mouse targeting abilities to tab targeting abilities because they went a little overboard with the mouse pointing while fighting thing on many classes.

Let’s go over the list shall we?

DR, MF miscalculations by the server, not separating the code between pve and pvp so pve players don’t suffer while pvp players are balanced, the upcoming dungeon only progression (if it turns out as we think it will), nerfing cond/healing to the point that we are pigeonholed into a pow/pre/%damage only build.

These things don’t make this game suck but they are problems that need immediate attention.

Absolutely not! Now I am not opposed to them intruducing dungeons that are for smaller groups…like three or two and make it so the dungeons mobs and bosses scale to the number of the people involved. However, making dungeons soloable pretty much eliminates the point. And This opinion is coming from someone who thinks that dungeons for the sake of progression is a REALLY bad idea in any game!

this is actually something I’d love to see. Even if it were in the store and something small to purchase. My character sounds like all the other charr in the game and it’s annoying. I don’t want to have cookie cutter anything I want to be more unique. It would also help if we could have lots more emotes that both animate the character and that have voice overs.

Legendary Weapons for Engineer

Well the discussion mainly for new weapons available for the engineer is in the engineer subforum.

I agree with you. Alot of us have already put in requests for 2h and 1h hammers (mace) as a weapon usable by the profession.

That would remove the wrench kit and most likely give us useful tools instead of caltrops to wack-a-mole enemies with in guardianlike fashion. I for one would love for them to give hammers to engineers and allow the engineers to do stun attacks and knock-backs. It would even the playing field against guardians and warriors in pvp.

WvW Should NOT Be A Part Of PvE World Completion

Hi everyone I HATE the fact that World vs World part of world completion i don’t what to ever play PvP or WvW but i want to have 100% world completion so i’m forced to play WvW witch i’m NOT happy about it should be a diffident world completion so that players only want to do is PvE don’t have to do WvW to get 100% world completion

Never a good idea! I’m not a completionist but it’s cheap to require pve players who hate pvp to do anything WVW that is the path that Aion went down and quite a few others and that’s how they lost so many players all at once, because people stopped playing do to being forced into pvp for the progression that was normally supposed to be pve only. So what do you get when you reach 100%. Good gear, globs, etc things you do actually need in the game, this needs to change ASAP.

So far post game launch Anet has not shown me they have the leadership skills to run the game properly. DR, MF miscalculations, nerfing cond/healing into oblivion, not immediately separation pve/pvp skill coding so pve’ers dont suffer while pvp is balanced, adding ascended armor (notable if it is a dungeon only progression set as it appears to be) the list is growing. It’s really starting to get scary.

says the person who probably has everything they need for their toons. You would be saying the same thing if this were happening to you, not everyone joined or started farming for end game immediately at launch. some of us were actually enjoying the sights sounds and secrets of the game. Tired of this argument, there shouldn’t be one it’s wrong to continue DR now that the code for detecting bots is obviously being used and that the reporting of bots is obviously being taking seriously. DR is now only hurting regular players. It’s not necessary and it’s wrong. While it’s still in effect the only reason to login is if you are an RP player and you spend all your time developing your own personal side story for your toon. The rest of us, both the gathcraftsplorers and the dungioneers who don’t already have the gear and can’t throw RL money into the gems to convert them to gold to buy everything we need instantly are being affected by this. being cut off from farming the mats we need to do prepare for harder challenges is not fun.

Now that Anet has banned a large number of bots and removed their goods from the market i believe it’s time to see this stupid mechanic go. All it does is punish real players and now that the bots are gone and I can see no reason for it to exist. Its extremely frustrating trying to farm mats for crafting and have the mobs only drop porous bones or white items. I really hope they remove it as soon as possible as it diminishes my enjoyment of the game.

Absolutely AGREE! It’s time Anet. That temporary fix was fine so long as it remains temporary. Not only that but they need to re-evaluate MF because it’s easier to get better gear drops with only 10% MF then it is with 146%. Something is definitely wrong!

Please check it out and fix whatever the issues are and remove DR from open world events and creature kills.

Can we actually play support roles??

No, you cannot be a tank or healer like in WoW.

Yes, some builds do have a lot more support or tankability than others. However, the main role of everyone is still damage.

No you can’t play tank healer but playing support CC was supposed to be the choices, and when they nerf the heck out of healing and cond until it no longer works IE giving players who have healing gear on the same trouble that healers had in WoW in BC not being able to solo anything because it takes literally ALL day to kill a regular mob, then there is an issue and it does need resolving it needs better math.

Not having support or CC means we are being pushed into a specific cookie cutter builds so that we have to play in a certain way and if the dungeoneers get their way with this patch we have even more discrimination to look forward to as people checkyourgear and dpsmeters while running dungeons or doing open world events.
Just wait it’s coming.

Ok, I’ve been playing this game since the early beta’s and now. I know Anet said they didn’t want to have the traditional role of "healer/Tank/DPS’ and that’s fine and dandy..but some people actually enjoy tanking, or me I love playing healer and I’ve been going through the classes trying to figure out which could actually help me keep people alive.

So far, everything is subpar and the more I play and the more I have to deal with frustrating mechanics and bugs..the more I want to go back to WoW..the game is not fun for people who like to play support. Now I will admit alot more people love to see damage numbers than those that enjoy healing people or allowing others to do the damage. So is there any way to play a viable support character and be that healer or tank…because so far, haven’t found it

Absolutely feel you. Sorry (to those who poo poo the idea that condition damage and healing are working as intended) but they definitely ARE NOT. They have serious issues keeping up with any of the pow/pre/%dam builds. and you know what that means..it means pigeonholing. That’s right everyone has to absolutely follow the same build with the same gear and the same runes etc etc ad nauseum.

If i wanted to play a game like that I would have continued to pay a subscription fee.

To answer your question OP, no no you can’t play one. Because they have been nerfed to oblivion due to balance issues with PVP even tho we were promised that the pvp and pve skills behavior and damage would be separate coding so this wouldn’t happen.

I hope they fix it come nov 16th because as it stands I might as well not play an engineer at all, I should roll a warrior for all the good all those kits do me since the only viable dps comes from firearms in the engi right now.

It would be nice to be able to see how much MF gear a player is equipped with when they are on your team. This will create a fairer and more enjoyable game-play when we form public teams.

I would like to know my own as well. I don’t care so much for knowing other people’s scores at all actually because there’s a reason why we can inspect, it’s called discrimination and it’s rampant in the mmo world. But knowing my total MF would be nice.

Altho while they are at it they need to effectively eliminate DR in open world events and they need to address MF’s malfunctions because the evidence that there’s something seriously wrong with it is mounting. I want them to address it properly before adding any more armor to the game.

this will be too confusing for those who want to resurrect: why can’t i resurrect this one and I could the other one. A pop up window for the one that resurrects will become annoying and pretty soon no one will attempt to resurrect anyone anymore

…it doesn’t have to be a complete redesign just an option. If I choose to turn it on and you don’t that’s a choice, just give us the option of having that. There are times to strategically get up. Even if they put a 10 second timer on the choice it would work well or turn it off in pvp wvw. pve needs it definitely cause we have crazy insane dodgers that just roll around all over the place not looking where they are bringing the mobs that just killed the players they just rezzed only to kill them again.

Quick observation re: hip shot v. aimed shot

Yep hip shot is just as bad as the completely useless poison shots. Doesn’t matter how much prec pow you have it misses half it’s shots ALL THE TIME. smh.

We need sniper capabilies especially the Charr who are warlike, I’m pretty sure they’ve gained enough tactical knowledge to know how to snipe an enemy from far far away by now.

The poison shots should be changed to unload like from the Fkey racial ability the charr have from hidden pistol. It’s annoying to see good dps wasted because of a design flaw.

If they want to give it an AOE component have the bullets explode like the #1 ability of the pistols. Thats the other thing. Why don’t engineer rifle bullets explode??? Shouldn’t they? I mean they do just about the same damage as the regular bullets. And if they did it would allow make it easier to hit multiple targets in Orr events. That would be a big improvement right there.

I don’t understand how we don’t have hammers. It’s weird. Why make a whole kit with wrenches instead of a single weapon with a fixed number of abilities just like all weapons and give that an ability repair turrets with swings.

I would love to see large two handed hammers and one handed hammer/wrenches as weapons in game. That would be nice!

I also wouldn’t mind large gears for shields because let’s face it that would be awesome on an engineer. A large wrenchhammer and a huge black gear for a shield tell me that wouldn’t look fantastic!

Also we could give those warriors and guardians a taste of their own medicine in pvp with smack downs knock backs and stuns of our own.

Trying to understand movement speed traits

Was curious about this as well. Will there be a change to an existing item giving a constant speed buff until the item is used like the sigils and seals work for other classes. That would by my question. It looks pretty close to what I’m seeing.

I hope Engineer get’s alot of changes in functionality i.e. Flamethrower not being the ‘’big damage’’ weapon they wanted it to be. Rifle not quite a ’’shotgun’’ nor a ‘’long distance wep’’.

I just want them to re-evaluate the Engi and then my friends im soooo going to transmute my Dungeon set from my Thief to my low level Engineer.

(I’m sick of nerfbat and pigeonholed BS, BP)

The dps for cond damage has become completely useless and if i wanted to play a rifle slinger i would have rolled a warrior.

FT is horrible. Burning shouldn’t be the only damage dealer for condition damage players. It’s like they hate the scout classes or something i dunno. This isn’t the only class they are having issues with. Speccing and gearing cond damage in the other two leather wearers doesn’t work either. You’re dead before you can do anything significant. (in PVE i mean)

As it stands now tho, they have serious targeting issues and damage output issues with explosives. (similar to the problems most eles face) They have nerfed the heck out of everything but burn damage, and if you trait into burn damage you lose a ton of damage enhancement.

Right now the only viable dps output for pve is a Rifle/pistol/pistol pots or turret spec. Anything else is useless honestly.

Healing needs some work for this class as well because they have nerfed that on the engineer to almost nothing compared to the other classes that heal.

It’s sad really they had a great class but due to an oversight on keeping pvp balanced they made it almost useless in pve.

If i wanted to be a rifle only fighter I would have rolled a warrior.

I know there are no dedicated healers that’s not what this thread is about.

It’s also not about PVP of any kind.

I’m speaking specifically about condition damage nerfs and healing nerfs that were originally intended only to balance pvp but have bled over into the realm of PVE.

One of the features listed in this game title prior to launch was the separation of the coding and behaviors between pvp and pve abilities so that no one would have to respec, relearn, or have issues on either side if one side was adjusted. This is definitely not happening.

I’ve watched as slowly patch after patch the balance adjustments to the scout classes have one by one wittled away any component that gave them a benefit until the only armor set and spec viable is the cookie cutter pow/prec/crit damage sets.

The other thing I’ve noticed is that only one profession in the game does ANY real healing at all. Whatever happened to the engineer healer? That went out the window somehow. The enhancements to healing on the engineer can barely help keep people in toughness armor alive in world events or in dungeons anymore. Regen is almost nil.
Sadly even the AOE’s used in the elixir guns are useless. Burning is the only viable damage type if you’re not a necromancer and to choose enhanced burning in the engineer traits is to reduce your overall damage.

This game was supposed to be about choices. instead we are being pidgeon holed into a single fit piece to do what everyone else is doing all because of pvp balance issues. It’s not right.

I hope this kind of thing gets resolved soon.

An "Accept ressurrection" prompt

I suggest that in the event a player is defeated (not just downed), when the player is ressurrected they should not automatically get up again, but receive a prompt whether to accept the ressurrection, as found in most other MMOs. At the moment, if someone goes afk when out in the field and they die from some random mob (possibly a DE they did not anticipate in the area, or a player training mobs along by accident – or worse, on purpose), they can be ressurrected, die again, be ressurrected again etc. until all their gear is completely broken. On several occasions I saw the corpse of a player character completely naked, who fell victim to this situation, to the point where all their gear was broken.

A simple prompt where they have to actively accept a rezz from defeated state would have prevented such a situation.

I second this because there are people who STILL to this day bring the mobs that do heavy AOE’s over to the recently rezzed players in dungeons and in open worlds. It’s like no one pays any attention to their surroundings before dodging.

Removing the stat bonuses to ascended items.
Period. Isn’t that what the majority of us wants? So people still do not need to feel inferiour anywhere else in the game, and the people who want to do that dungeon (and any dungeon that comes from here on) which requires a specific resistance to a environmental mechanic in there, get their extra stuff. And this extra stuff is only specific for THIS dungeon. If you want to go to the next, you switch your infusion upgrade. I’m fine with the mechanic, apparently a lot of others are too.

But seriously, Arenanet? Remove the attribute bonuses and a lot of people WILL shut up. Right?

You know they don’t even have to do that.

If they were truly interested in keeping with the balance of the game and making the game NOT about dungeon runs, AND if you can get the ascended armor for tokens to buy it (which makes it nothing like what they did in GW1) then all they have to do is add an recipe set for each armor type with the same stats to the crafting to keep the balance. The game was NEVER supposed to be progression solely thru dungeons. It cuts off content from a large portion of players and breeds a community based on discrimination.

Vertical progression that is going to take about a year to accomplish….

THE HORROR!

The thing is, anet didnt think that the first few legendaries would come out until after a year or more…..

They didn’t think that people would burn thru end game content, to the extent of adding DR and armies of undead in the zone where the end game content is located either but that doesn’t mean people won’t.

What scares me is if my suspicions are true, then this patch is the very thing I left behind when I left Blizzard games altogether.

What scares me and most of us about this, is that they are listening to the very people who never stay with a game longer then three months instead of listening to the rest of us who stay with games for years. There’s a big difference between the short amount of cash they’ll get from people playing these dungeons who will run off at the first sign of a new shiny and the long term cash they’ll get from the rest of us who stick with a good game for years to come.

If their design strat holds true, if the dungeons give tokens to be used at a vendor for ascended then yes it is just as bad as we are all claiming because it won’t be their design they used in GW1. It will be much much worse. People are already starting to request the features the completely destroyed other titles communities in that dungeons were the only means of progression to the top gear, and they had things like gearcheck and dps meters to allow for discrimination.

That’s what we’re worried about. It might be premature to expect this but I’ve seen way too many game titles start off with a great idea and then a couple of patches later completely go back on their original design which ended up in disaster. I do NOT want this to happen to this game and not because of $60 but because of the type of game we were promised this would be.

If they want to keep to the original design in their videos they need to address DR/MF malfunctions and give us a recipes for karma that don’t require any crafter to set foot inside a dungeon or PVP to craft. That would offset the balance. And I’m not saying this because I want the gear, I don’t want it, I’m just saying this is what they should do to keep this from becoming a gear grind fest to keep people from discrimination.

Crafting is worthless now, because u cant craft the best things in the game anymore….why would anyone start crafting now? Uh, I see, just to blow up time and gold….

Exactly.

If they want to keep true to their promises about game design being different put 1 set of recipes per armor type in the game the crafters don’t have to step foot in a single dungeon or PVP zone to make. It’s that simple.

nobody is forcing you to get the new gear, heck we dont even know very much about it. i highly doubt the game is gonna force you to grind for hours and hours for an extra 10 precision lol.

you are wrong.

1: if they give people what they are wanting beyond the dungeon only gear and keep that as the only ascended gear sets available (IE not craftable), specifically if they give people gearcheck and dps meters then yes people will start demanding fully geared people to run anything.

2: yes people will require you to do that for hours just to join their groups. We’ve seen it time and time again in other mmo’s or have people forgotten history entirely?

3: they haven’t addressed open world DR/MF issues so that people can actually farm mats yet but they added this right away didn’t they. Not to mention it’s completely the opposite of the type of game they advertised.

It’s been brought up before, and I think its right to bring it up again.

With the coming of the new Ascended gear, that has a real effect on how a player performs in end gae content, Guild Wars 2 needs the ability to inspect other players gear added sorely.

Players will want to know if a player they are adding to thier team is equipped well enough for the run planned through FotM. It will avoid situations where players mislead and waste people’s time. A inspect option will make group forming much smoother and better all around!

With Ascended gear being a requirement for deep runs into the FotM for ELITE rewards, an inspect function is a necessity to ensure you are playing with Correctly equipped teamates.

AND IT’S ALREADY STARTED! smh…

While you’re at it might as well ad addons, dps meters, and everything else that allowed people to discriminate against other players so that this game can quickly turn into the horrible community we’ve seen in other game titles…..

This is what i meant by slippery slope. It looks like it’s already begun and the patch with the actual gear hasn’t even been released yet!

I guess you’re the kind of person who would say “The GW2 community is asking for flying mounts, 50-man raids, gear-based PvP and easier dungeons”?

Amen. Makes me wonder why people like this even bought the game when it was specifically advertised as having no gear grinds/treadmills.

We’re not complaining that there IS a grind we’re complaining over the TYPE of grind they are putting into the game. And NO it was NOT advertised that they would have multiple tiers of armor from dungeon runs they specifically advertised that this is NOT what this game is supposed to be about, nor was it ever advertised that they would be following in ANY sense the designs of other much older MMO’s. Makes me wonder why people try to justify going backwards in game design by trying to change the facts to fit their personal view.

Why is everyone freaking out and acting like this is “God 1 hit everything” gear? its only 8 more stat points, 3% magic find, and You cannot even apply a talisman/rune to it. Not to mention that the stats are ONLY power/prec/magic find. Also, it has similarities to legendaries. And yes, legendaries ARE better than exotics, even though it isnt by much. So basically, this gear is only good for dungeons since there is agony condition.

1: most of the posts you’ve read are prior to the release of the screenshot showing one item’s stats compared to an exotic.

2: it is so not an exaggeration that this is a slippery slope of descent into the type of game we were all promised this game would NOT be.

3: there are major issues with DR in open world and with MF not functioning properly making it almost impossible for most to gather the necessary resources to gear up our characters, to add this gear update when they haven’t properly addressed the issues with DR/MF is adding insult to injury.

Absolutely disgusted by this. I bought the game because I was fed up of gear treadmills and after 7 years of GW1 not having one and the developers saying they wouldn’t put in one you would think there wouldn’t be one.

But nope, they didn’t have the balls to stick through with it for longer then 3 months and are having to go the WoW clone way. I don’t know why so many developers decide to do WoW clones when every single one has failed.

Absolutely disgusted by this. What about all the Karma I spent on exotics? What about all the time and money spent maxing crafting disciplines to get other exotics? Worthless now as we have to go into dungeons to get ever increasing stats. I’d care more but it looks like I am stopping playing with the next patch.

GW1 for 7 years, can’t even get GW2 to 7 months.

Combat is different than WoW.
Questing is different than WoW.
Dynamic Events is different than WoW.
WvWvW is different than WoW.
Quickbars are different than WoW.
Being in multiple guilds is different than WoW.
Dungeons are ….becoming the same as WoW…. (Which is not the core issue here)
Crafting ….. will become exactly the same as WoW after this trend starts.
There are no raids in Guild Wars 2

Also there are several WoW Clones that are doing just fine.

Just because those other games are doing fine doesn’t mean they wouldn’t have loads more players who pay them money via a different system, store. It also doesn’t mean those players return for the game, most like WoW don’t want to give up the friends they’ve made by moving to a new game.

You and many others like you (who are more dismissive in their posts about this concern we have) are not getting the picture. We were told and shown their game would be different then the other mmo’s. When they add things that other games have and it affects everyone’s progression end game like this will, not only did they go back on their design philosophy but it turns the game into a cheap version of itself.

Here’s the scenario. They keep the broken DR/MF system, more and more people start having issues getting rare drops. They keep adding more and more tiers that only come from dungeons and only from the harder to do content (if you’re undergeared it does become a rez fest). People who are still here and playing down the road complain and they add 1-2 items to crafting that requires a material that is only found in dungeons off of the bosses.

Sound familiar? That’s because this is the system that WoW uses right now!

They stopped the ability to get the same tier gear as in dungeons without running dungeons (actually they required raids for many of the mats) for their poor excuse for a crafting system. They prevented people from getting the higher end mats. They required everyone to run dungeons whether they wanted to do that or not. None of us want to return to that system of gaming, some are more loud about it than others, and we are disappointed in this decision because it’s a slippery slope.

We were promised a different gaming experience. That’s why we are complaining.

Large problems await with this. Only time will reveal them to those who say things like “people are whining to whine” or “people complain on these forums that’s all they do” but they will happen. How do we know? Oh I dunno how about how every mmorpg out there that has this very model of progression, how’s that for evidence of the problems this system ensures WILL occur every time.

Unless they do something soon, there’s going to be more people leaving then there the tiny niche dungeon runners that stay. The majority isn’t the hard cores the majority has always been pve open world content seekers crafters gatherers explorers since 2004 when the type of players switched.

The game is young, and it is our ideas and voices that make it evolution. This is a well organized and we support new ideas and suggestions to make beautiful addons!

This would be great if they were listening to us. We’ll see Nov 16th. Thus far there’s been quite a number of little problems from design decisions that have caused all kinds of progression issues for their players. DR both in open world and dungeons, MF not working properly at higher percentages, the scout professions being endlessly nerfed in pvp and it effecting pve. So far they haven’t done anything friendly to many players that I’ve seen.

There comes a point where you might as well not even login until these bugs or poor design decisions are rectified honestly. And keep in mind the reason why I’m so loud is I was promised by Anet a different gaming experience from the sub only lobby end game dungeon only crappy games we’ve seen for years. This is not helping in the slightest. Also this is coming from a guy who is a big time fan. Something must be done.

I’ll reserve judgement until Nov 16th, but I have a feeling they aren’t really listening to the majority anymore and are just pandering to the minority. (The majority of players are pve openworld content gatherers crafters explorers, not dungeon runners.)

End-game gear after Lost Shores update

Gear progression itself is not a problem, but if it’s not handled properly as a system, the side effects on the builds people use, or the type of content they can freely participate in without experiencing discrimination will become a focal point of criticism in the future.

Please address this problem now and reassure community that you know what you’re doing, and this won’t impact quality of play & social experience that this game currently provides to everybody, regardless of his build or gear in any type of content.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. I foresee this happening shortly after the dungeonheads get their sets. At a single glance and without gearcheck they’ll be able to say, “oh look at that noob we don’t need him throw him to the curb until he can get his stuff”.

Also, with the holes in the current design preventing people from getting the drops they need to gather the materials for their end game sets, there’s going to be a huge gap in the number of people who can gather said mats. (notably with MF and DR malfunctioning like they are, and how currently the champions and veterans of the world with these malfunctioning systems prevent receiving drops characteristic of the challenge of the fight to obtain them. MF and DR currently work in tandem to ensure you will never ever receive anything above a White from the champions or vets in open world, possibly the hoards of enemies that surround these types of creatures have a hand in that, either way it’s a serious issue.)

Why wont they just tell us about the anti farm

I’ve had a serious issue with this from the beginning and not even with the items like blood or venom sacs I’m talking common materials like leather and cloth. It’s like they don’t want us to get any or something. I went and tried to farm coarse leather at the only place I could find where it drops it’s amazingly annoying to get 4 drops and then suddenly ALL greys.

And don’t get me started on MF and how that’s completely BORKED because it absolutely does nothing for my drops in fact at higher levels the more MF I have makes it drop lower and lower quality items. It’s weird I’ve done multiple tests on this and I actually get rares when i don’t have anything but the guild and food buffs on. smh And please to talk to me about statistics and such because it happens enough to me and to others that I know there’s something wrong with it. And yes I posted in the bugs forums.

To give you and example. I had 146% mf while running the highest zone both the events and random creatures along the way. nothing dropped at the 146% not even blues. I went back in my DPS gear with only my guild buff and my food buff on (40%) I got 10 greens and 3 rares. yeah.

This is exactly what is going on with my ele in maps above lv 45. I tried to farm tier 4 mats in Timberline Falls where the Great OOUO is, and was instantly hit by a MF/ DR bug in the center of the map, “I JUST kittenING GOT HERE YOU STUPID GAME!” spending at least 3 silver twice to use two waypoints! and aniother 1.6 silver and another 1 silver 96c to repair one piece of armor/backbrace. I go to Harathi and it takes forever to hit DR, and I get 1 gold and 7 greens and over 40 blues using just 15% MF via dual Sup. Luck Sigils in my daggers and 24% MF food when under a boon. Thats 39% and I had a booster for a total of 89%. I seem to get better stuff when that booster is not on.

Yep can relate man. It’s annoying from a crafting standpoint but more importantly it breaks the progression of the game. If one can’t farm the items needed to get the crafting materials to make exotic armor what does that leave us? Dungeon crawling for points (did that for 7 years in WoW don’t want to return to it) or grinding karma forever to get it to 252k to buy an entire set. I for one do not want this game to become one of “those” titles that starts off with a strong crafting system and ends up later on down the road as some mediocre crafting joke where people might as well not even level it to 400 because there is a more common way to get your stuff where you are forced to join a group wait for hours to go do something just because you’re trying to get enough people and people are too impatient to wait for the group to form.

Please fix MF Anet so that crafting is not destroyed and end game progression can move forward for those of us who have prepared to gather in this fashion. Rares should drop more often from higher MF not less, and they should always always drop from vets champs while using a higher MF, always.

Absolutely agree with Vaulken. From a gathcraftsplorer’s view, as an engineer I don’t bother going here because I KNOW exactly what will happen. Here’s the setup for you.

I see an Orachulum node (the first in almost none.) in the shores, I go up to it try to see if anything’s around. I don’t see anything because I’m too close to the side of a building (as a Charr thanks) a duo of an OP necro and one of the guys with the Axe that pulls you back walks around the corner on their patrol. Bam, I’m dead before i can even pull out a kit and mouse aim to throw a grenade that takes to long to kill anything anyway. (especially after the multiple endless and unwarranted nerfs to the pve portion of this profession).

Instead I have to spec my thief to have as many bonuses and healing and escape options as possible to run around there solo. That way I can actually farm mats without the problems the other slower and less escapee professions have in these Zones. I sincerely hope that the new patch has more of the rare mats (because even the level 80 zone has 4 ores and 4 trees. I swear that’s all I’ve ever seen there, everything else is mithril and cypress.) because It’s going to take a loooong while to get enough to do anything meaningful for any weapons or jewelry. sigh.
