3) Make all future content have a progression system using the Ascended/Agony system, but make past upgrades worthless in the new content. What I mean by this is, Agony resistance obtained in FOTM is only good for that dungeon. New dungeons will require a different type of Agony resist that you get from said dungeon. This gives progression and power without gating content.

This part is absolute a BAD BAD idea. The progression for future content should only require exotics because 1: people can farm relatively easily the money they need to get the exotics. and 2: no one would have to follow the standard gear treadmill model that adding this gear represents. ie. you have to get to 80, get your exotics, run the older dungeons (the new infused dungeons would be older by the time the new contented dungeons are released) just to go into the new dungeons that also require infusion.

See the problem? You are suggesting they make it even more gated then it already is.

Absolutely and this is EXACTLY what they said this game would NOT become. Read your own manifesto Anet! You are destroying the progression for those of us who are gathcraftsplorers which is who you wanted to attract in the first place to play this game. Remember us? The majority? The people who actually stick with games longer then three months if they have a good open world PVE content to progress with? Yeah.

(As opposed to the minority elitist jerks who run around wanted dungeons only, new tiers every month, and spvp with gear the affects damage)

something has changed at Anet. We need clear communication. We need to stop the downward spiral away from all things manifesto and we need most importantly a PTR that’s open to a large enough portion of the populous to catch issues like the profession bugs and the dungeon bugs ahead of time to prevent things like this weekend from happening.

Karka able to see right through stealth

most people usually don’t play thieves in pve but i am one of those that do. I find i can get around better for my gathering and escape most unnecessary fights.

I noticed that the projectile abilities from the karka can just hit me 100% of the time even after being in stealth for about 2-3 seconds and them casting it after i’ve stealthed already. (not just the barbs but the bigger ones web attacks and when downed and I’m using the stealth ability or if i’ve reached 25% health and i autostealth two or three of their green acid pools land directly on me every time. no one else was standing near me when these things happened.)

It’s really annoying as the barbs pierce everything.

Please fix it! Thanks.

well i haven’t really had but 1 drop from anything for the past three weeks. tonight i actually got two rares almost pooped my pants right there standing in a puddle.

I’m wondering what’s happening with the mf and the drops. I hope this is a sign they’ve fixed it.

the shields i’ve used look good. I got the one that looks like a furnace and the one that looks like a gear (sorta) shields really aren’t that bad.

Tho we have requested that they give us hammers 1h and 2h so that we can have a third weapon option. It would be great to see a steampunk hammer we could use or one that’s all electric from the asura. ENGI SMASH!

Most of the rewards comes from chests, and magic find doesn’t affect chest rewards.

For some dungeons maybe. Not for others. Especially dungeons like AC or HotW.

It doesn’t affect a single thing for me accept nodes. Drops are never better unless I don’t have MF on and I’ve reported this bug a thousand times and put it into he forums that they need to address whatever is wrong with it because it doesn’t even work 20% of the time for many of us. Why have a broken mechanic in there at all and ignore your players again when something isn’t working right.

It would be nice if we could see our total and see how much more often we’d receive better gear.

I de’d my gear because it was completely useless not because of almost dying in events or dungeons but because having higher mf never ever gives me a good drop. The higher my mf goes the lower the quality of the items I receive. I’ve seen this directly with other players as well. Too many people aren’t getting the benefits of this system anyways. It’s sortof like Cond damage for pve, why is it in there if it’s not really going to impact the damage output?

So someone on another thread was talking about a second bullet point, in this bullet point they claimed that one of the head devs addressed the armor being only from dungeons issue with this patch and said that it would be available from other means keeping in line with the horizontal progression (crafting karma etc.)

Can anyone confirm he said this? I have yet to see anything on it.

Still you can go into 40+ zones and get the enhanced karma now, they did increase it for those zones 40+ so not sure what the issue is. They just don’t want you to be in all pow prec %damage gear and mow thru everything to get the points you need so….

Not sure about why this thread is even here. I’ve never had issues doing the DE’s in 40+ zones while gathering. And my gear doesn’t even have the runes in it yet. ;P

Dear Arena Net,

I’m going to write this as an open letter to you to let others chime in about this so I hope you don’t mine. I’d also ask that this thread not be merged hidden or deleted since the intent of this is to find a compromise.

Ok so you felt the game needed to have another level of gear between Exotics and Legendries for players to work on, I’m cool with this under some conditions.

Providing you follow one simple GOLGEN rule. Never take something away from one play style in favor of another, never change things again that takes a feature away or adds a feature that favors one path through your game over another, let me explain.

In GW2 you gave us all a path to the best gear in the game regardless of how we wanted to play the game. You appeared to understand that many players play MMO’s in different ways and the freedom of choice on how we made our way through the game was ours.

You also did not pigeonhole the players into ONE particular path at end game. You told us that at endgame we could just keep doing the things that WE liked to do.
Eric Flannum himself said: “We have a basic philosophy of that we don’t expect you to play a different game at level 80 that you played up to then”. “We don’t think it’s ok that if you didn’t like to do dungeons before max level we don’t expect you to be forced into dungeons at endgame “.

I would like you to stay true to these above core philosophies.

Ok on to making this right with the community!

1) Ensure the community that you are not taking anything away from crafting, before Ascended Gear Crafters could make the most powerful Weapons and Armor in the game, Make sure that is still the case. There is no reason you need to change this for this new level of gear.

2) Ensure the community that there are multiple path to Ascended Armor, Weapons, Infusion and their crafting components outside of Dungeons through the open world events, PvP and WvW content. Many people do not want to play another “Lobby World” game where you stand around for hours trying to find a group or put up with the frustration of someone quitting a group just before the last boss fight at the bottom of a dungeon.

3) Ensure Players that future content patches will not interfere with the FREEDOM of choice the player has on how they chose to play the game at endgame or otherwise and future patches will never take anything away from players that the core game offers now or stray from the original design philosophy we were all sold on.

4) Optional: I highly recommend you put up a public test server. One, it appears your content needs to be stress tested to get the bugs out but this also gives you feedback on new content and how it will be received by the community giving you opportunities to tweak it before you tick off the world.

So, the only thing that’s being asked for here is that player choice be preserved in regards to how they find their path into the best gear the game has to offer and some reassurance that that choice is still present.

This is not asking for much Arena Net, and I’m asking this one for myself but also for a way to calm down the community. Just admit that you did not realize the impact this patch would have on the core player base and make these small concession. No one is asking for you to remove content just restore the games endgame flexibility for all and ensure that flexibility is still there. I can’t see anyone objecting to these terms as it allows all players to just keep playing the game the way they have and eventually they will get the gear they want or need.

In closing I’d just like to add that you need to look at ways of keeping the open world viable and refreshed. Adding fancy dungeon content is great but if it comes at an expense of shifting focus off the open world many of your dynamic events will lose the critical mass of players they need to remain viable.

Adding top end crafting mats for the new top end gear and opportunities for it to drop in top end open world events will help to keep the level 80 zones active. Be mindful of how new content makes the rest of the game play and that it does whisk that critical mass of players away from zones that need strong participation to remain viable.

Completely agree. Even if it’s for a short while it still is against the manifesto. If what people claim is true about the second bullet point making it available outside of dungeons fine. But I want just like the OP is posting these things to be available via definitive crafting recipes and not the stupid mystic casino. Absolutely should it never ever make something other then the item I’m trying to make for this armor type when using it for these ascended items.

my problems with MF started a month ago. so far nothing has ever dropped for my engi accept twice in a month and a half.

I’ve requested they look into it. I’ve requested they give a public statement on why they suddenly changed it I’ve asked them if it’s DR. I’ve yet to receive a single response to my questions.

There’s definitely something wrong. And now, it looks like it will be easier to get the dungeon crawling stuff they swore to us they would never add. BAM lied to the public in their manifesto.

We deserve an explanation for both.

Stats do add up and give players an advantage. That is besides the point tho. The whole point of the new armors as well as their aquisition isn’t just for the dungeon they added higher stats to them giving players who have done the grind an advantage over others. This type of end game content flies in the face of their manifesto, essentially they lied to the public and to their players when they made this move. They can no longer be trusted.

I’d say that guardians are like paladins in other games, they faceroll everything and heal themselves out of every kill…so.. pretty much play that if you want the easy button.

PVE wise I’d say rangers prolly the most survivable one right now (with the bears of course since they can pretty much blow thru any condition).

confused about cond damage. I put it on every piece exotic trait in it and the damage per tick is 10 points more then it was, and the shots and burns don’t seem to change anything. so why is cond damage in here if it’s not really going to increase the damage beyond ten points?

You need to combine things like robes, not cloth

but she says ore, wood, …neither of which unprocessed is a blue item or better, they are all white. Even the bars are. so I’m confused.

Med Kit STILL can't be stowed

I think they did this purposely because I use the talent “gain swiftness when equipping a kit” and there’s two others that help when this kit specifically is put on, one is useless of course.

Leg mods, Backpack regenerator, speedy kits are the ones i like.

Right now tho I’m pigeonholed into using the pistol/shield burn spec so I can only use the speedy kits.

Maybe one day they’ll add dual spec and fix healing so I can switch between my dps and support roles and use more of the enhancements for the equipped kits.

Recent Engineer Changes - What do you think?

I always had an odd love for the Tool Kit, so those buffs make me smile.

The sad part is that I am seriously thinking of giving up my flamethrower since they didn’t adress that at all.

In terms of fun factor, I play my engineer for the kits, that’s the main draw for me.
I love having a ton of options (was playing a hunter in WoW which has about the most keybinds there, so I wanted something with a lot of skills to pick from).

So yes: I expected more from this patch, aside my Tool Kit being better now there isn’t much else for me…

Same here I played an engineer hunter since day one in WoW. one of the very reasons i stopped playing WoW is they never addressed the sheer stupidity that used when they nerfed engineering tools.

The same thing is starting to happen in this game now. Why is it so hard for people to actually develop a game where the engineering or technical classes aren’t borked and remain in oblivion forever?? is it too much to ask to make an engineering class that’s not pigeonholed into a single role or that has so many bugs that we see countless patches of content before the bugs that have been there since beta are fixed properly We are paying customers.

I was one of the biggest advocates. After their addition of the next tier of armor, having to grind for money because the exchange rate is so low for gems, having to grind for such a large amount of karma (for just armor btw not even weapons 252k is a tad overboard), having nothing being done about the misses and problems with the least played class in the game when they are supposed to be treating all players/classes equally. So far, it’s not looking good. Anet is not living up to the standard they promised us they would be.

I would drop Sitting Duck trait and take something like Rifled Barrels or Go for the Eyes, which one depends on your palystyle ofcourse. Sitting Duch is only 5% more damage during immobilize (2sec), so not worth it in my opinion.

Me too. since they nerfed blindness from kits (AHEM FT) instead of fixing them so they are on par with thieves, I’d suggest doing this and using the Elixir U toolbelt ability I use it alot and it helps. Especially with ranged enemies, nothing like killing a Risen with his own spells and occasionally I get the blindness effect from it so I can keep the enemy missing.

Rifles are great single target. If you find you are doing that alot I’d suggest using the blindness trait, rune of rage, and using the elixir U and net turret combo, keeps them far away, you can use the walls from the toolbelt U for added effect, and the net turret toolbelt ability gives you an extra net.

One of my favorite things to do as a finisher with the rifle is when all my other things to keep enemies back are on CD I wait for them to get close then I do 5, 3, 4 in that order. It does the AOE double attack, powershot with bleed, and knocks them back if any health is left. by that time my nets are back up.

So one of the big nerfs I think people missed is that it is now no longer possible to get permanent fury from Potent Elixirs + Fast-Acting Elixirs combined with using Elixir B.

The max duration you can just about get is 36 seconds with the Superior Runes of Fury… and due to cooldowns + the fact fury is 1/3 chance when thrown, you could be without fury for significant durations.

It also means it’s no longer possible to get perma-swiftness again from Elixir B + the combination of the above traits (you can still get perma-swiftness from speedy kits trait).

This nerf is actually kinda massive and without that fury boon up, the damage output of builds made around keeping that fury up will be severely reduced.

Additionally… certain things they apparently fixed are still not working (e.g. deployable turrets, elixir S cooldown).

Had no idea there was a perma fury option. hmm. Oh well.

I’ve been so busy dealing with my kits not giving me buffs like the Eles conjured weapons do or trying to get the cone abilities in FT/EG to actually hit something consistently I haven’t paid attention.

not really impressed with EG right now especially since they have yet to fix the miss problem. It’s like no one there is playing this class because they certainly aren’t listening to their players!

the thing misses the enemies does barely any damage and the AOE is laughably small for the acid spill.

and don’t get me started on playing this class like it’s a support class. four skills all do the same regen buff with no initial heal on use, can we say redundant anyone?

completely agree, X is almost never used. I’ve used the supply drop like consistantly…and it’s not that much of an enhancement to get a rifle turret as it’s traited extra supplies…seriously, it needs more love.

there are a ton of problems with targeting on kits…they needed to address those FIRST since they’ve been in the game since before launch.

grenades…..they might as well have taken them completely off the class along with the elixir gun, the flame thrower, and every other kit they’ve nerfed to oblivion since start…..the only viable option to trait into now is bullets. seriously that’s it and here’s why.

grenades you have to manually press 111111111 and point with a mouse that continuously disappears in large groups, bye bye farming in Orr.

FT/EG consistantly misses when you strafe. Seriously, I moved an inch, that’s not far enough away for the next 8-10 attacks to say miss miss miss miss miss miss miss miss smh

can’t trait into anything that gives us bleed or poison abilities because quit simply they don’t do a darned thing for damage compared to burning. since when has anyone in RL been able to shrug off belladonna or hemlock like they are a mosquito bite. really?
Or get hit by a mine but still run around like Honey boo boo child on her speshal drink? yeah useless….

For support: why do four abilities from four of the healing skills all use the same regen buff? Who thought of that? AND why don’t using these skills do a heal when used and then a regen? Doesn’t make any sense.

I’m going to come up with a list of all of the traits that pretty much are useless and no one ever uses and compare them to their equivolents in other classes so we can see exactly where the inconsistencies are.

Instead of fixing the common problems we have, they decided to nerf the abilities that keep us alive while we contend with the bugs and issues we have had with this class since day 1.

I think NOT a SINGLE person at ANET in the dev department actually plays this class. It’s that obvious.

ROFLMBO! that is the FUNNIEST thing I’ve read all day!

My advice? Try everything out!

I’d suggest the same thing. I settled on a bomb/burn/pistol build with a touch of speed and invis when immobilized. It’s nice in Orr when trains are following me to the next node. If they get close I use bomb them to death n stuff. It’s fun. The burns last longer when I’m bombing. I use gear that has pow prec cond damage to enhance the burns but while leveling i noticed it was much easier to use pow toughness vit on armor for the bombing thing. I heal alot with this build especially in Orr.

Oh and I too use goggles for their tasty goodness.

Look at all the class threads. “Oh, i play this class so it has to be better.” “Oh, i play this class so it cant be nerfed.” “Oh, i play this class so it deserves full attention.” If you are going to whine, complain and critique, at bring up real problems. Are you all saying Warriors go around “one-shotting” all of you? All classes are good at some things and bad at others. Engineers can be good in PvP as well as PvE, you just need to learn how to play more and whine less

You play an Engineer and you think it’s fine? Good for you. You can leave then since this topic doesn’t affect you at all—be it praise or complaint.

I’m glad you are not bothered by Flamethrower missing when directly hitting the target and such other things. I’m glad you think others just “need to learn to play”. That a mature well thought out response.

Can I ask how you know how everyone is playing though? I’m curious where you got your mass of data to come to that conclusion.

Your generalizations and assumptions speak more about how you play, act, and think. So you saying “I play this class so it needs to be better” is speaking about you. Not the people here. Which is then curious as to why you are here…

There are a still a few builds out there that allow professions to use game mechanics to do extreme sustained damage. Those professions were not patched from doing those setups. Meanwhile, grenades got a speed boost and pvp nerf. Engineers aren’t complained about for a reason—no one worries about our burst. So kitten for tat, Engineers got left behind in the curve.

No one cares about a 10-15% reduction in damage on one kit. They care that nothing else was addressed in the months of reports asking for fixes and quality changes, except one kit. It was mediocre and less than expected. Especially since there were supposed to be “pages” of Engineer issues addressed.

So anybody who doesn’t complain or leave is a troll? Every professions has complaints. You just have selective hearing (or reading). But no, you right in your claim that this profession is the only one with “pages” of issues. Its not like the story bugs are more serious. Have you considered that the devs have looked at your “pages” of complains and find them trivial?

P.S. You do realize the flamethrower issue is just the visual right? I can miss a target with my rifle even though I’m standing about 2 meters from them. In fact can rarely hit objects like blockades with any melee. These are issues with the system and are not exclusive to engineers.

You do realize that the missing objects issues was claimed to be fixed across the board in this patch right and has nothing to do with single shot weapons. This FT/EG issue has been in there since BWE3 which I played in. And NO it doesn’t happen because they are on my side, it happens when they take 1 step to the left 1 step, that’s not a dodge roll or a running off at high speeds or anything like that, it’s 1 step. It’s wrong for them to promise to fix something then ignore entirely.

Okay let me just say that I do not in any way PVP, I’ve hated it since my first days in any mmo which was years ago. This is not a post telling them how to run their game, they can do what they want. BUT I’m telling them to expect big consequences for their actions if they don’t listen to their players needs (like a mass exodus away from all things Anet which is coming if they make people mad enough), and that’s exactly what’s happening here.

more and more since launch they have yet to fix bugs that have been in there since BWE3 and yes I’ve reported them in the proper ways and sent them support tickets on many of them and reported them here. Yet the second content patch is out and they STILL aren’t fixed.

I’m not asking for much, just that when I am literally covering enemies either in fire or chemical weapons that it doesn’t say miss miss miss miss miss miss miss miss miss just because the enemy moved a milimeter to the left even tho the view is still in the middle of my screen.

I’m asking for things like my shots actually going off while dodging instead of stopping entirely, my other classes do NOT have this issue, their abilities go off no matter if I’m dodging or not.

I’m asking for consistency. Kits need to scale with gear, they need to give us buffs when equipped appropriate to the kit we equip, they need to be effected by runes we have equipped to the only weapon we have on hand (because we don’t switch like other classes we can’t). Or how the poison shot sometimes just misses for no reason…the bullets just trail off somewhere else mysteriously….hmm

I’m asking for a viable melee weapon option.

These aren’t rocket science and they aren’t requests to make my character OP or better then any other classes, they are fixes so the class actually functions properly and to bring back the fun, because it’s not fun if you are only aggrivatingly having problems killing enemies because your weaponkits all have bugs. That’s all this post is about. That and they need to listen to us because with each new patch more and more is being ignored, problems they know about that’s been in there since before the launch.

I’ve been one of the biggest advocates for this title, the very LEAST they could do for their customers ALL their customers is fix the bugs. AND yes they did promise they would address the targeting issues of ALL classes. ALL includes engineers you know.

The people making these changes obviously don’t even play the game. Thieves are still killing within seconds and the only viable spec is still grenades for engineers.

Hire new staff.

HA actually the only viable spec is rifles. Grenades #1 still don’t tab target and repeat. I use Rune of Rage, the green pot, and the rocket launcher or netturret to keep mobs away. It’s really the only one worth it in pve. Pistol/shield when farming in Orr so I hit multiples.

But I too do not believe a single person who test plays this class over there is paying attention.

Great for WvW engineers. But flamethrowers are still horribly bugged, and our condition builds are inferior to grenades in damage. So we still have terrible build diversity.

Yep pigeonholed in pve still! and #1 still isn’t tab targeted.

I personally think they should increase the throwing to match the grenades, they should make it throw explosives so there’s a chance of catching enemies on fire. That would fix alot of problems with downed.

Really, there’s nothing pulling me in, the new content would be more interesting if someone there actually cared about my needs as a player and one of my needs is to have fun while playing this class in pve.

Basically, what happened is this. Someone in the PR team in the forums posting things like “yeah! we’re listening to your needs! we’ll make this class better and fix the issues it’s had since BWE1! sure! just tell us all about it!”

The next patch, nerf, nerf, nerf, no more protection using blindness with turrets or with FT (even tho that’s one of the few things keeping us alive in pve, instead of fixing it btw, yeah), targeting on the FT and the EG still borked, Cond/healing still not brought back up to norm that other classes enjoy since the patch that reduced them (pve), targeting for #1 grenades still isn’t tab targeting so it repeats itself…..only fixes for underwater combat…? really?

meanwhile warriors can still one shot enemies with rifle and have multishots, guardians can stack buffs, eles were given buffs on their weapons when equipped, yet engi rifles don’t have multishots, the toolbelt healing abilities turret and pots do not stack and are all the same regen buff (cept #5 EG), and kits not only don’t buff but they don’t scale with the equipped items.

Just endless problems. My personal list is very huge. If I thought that I would be taken seriously I’d post the whole thing here but Anet we tried that already didn’t we, multiple people posted about the problems and you did nothing!

What will it take for you to take this class seriously? because right now the disappointment I feel from this class being thrown to the backburner is as paramount as what I felt when they borked my class in another title with 9mil players that will remain nameless, please show us that you will be taking immediate action to fix the items we need fixing on this class prior to the next content patch! That would restore my faith in your team.

Agreed! I was such a big fan of smoke bomb + rocket boots. I definitely saw that elixir r nerf coming so I tried my best to stay away from it….too many people complaining about it….but yet a warrior can do it every time they go down (trained or not doesn’t matter).

They did so much damage to us in this update. Wow, bomb builds, grenade builds, alchemist builds (elixirs), insert relative nerfed build here, and here, and here, while still leaving everything else basically broken

Yep it’s like no one over there even plays this class. AT ALL. wake up devs we’re tired of being second class! and I’m not a pvper before people ask, I’m pve’er and there are still HUGE problems more then a month later, but they made sure those boxes were in the store didn’t they huh… smh

Engineers are still in beta phase I guess… I love the class I just dislike how they are implementing small bits and pieces. I love what Anet has done with the game up till recently. Hopefully they don’t continue towards the down whirl spiral.

The same effect happens to elixir gun and misses people who you are trying to remove conditions from.

And yes they did say they were working on the targeting issue for all classes, they left out one ahem.

Just logged into the game a few moments ago, got on my engi and tried FT, it still misses turrets and objects if you move in the slightest even tho the flames are all over the target you are facing. I can’t even strafe. The bug is NOT fixed Anet not for FT.

I didn’t have much luck with pistols… Would be great if they did more damage, but they don’t. Gotta hit mobs like 4 times to get it tagged, and mobs usually die before that.

Grenades are ok, but generally (for me) one throw was never enough to get a tag; and grenades spend such a painfully long time floating through the air that the mobs are dead before the second throw lands.

Flame thrower is pretty good. One full channel of the auto attack is enough to get a tag, and the explosion from #2 is enough to get a tag, so fire that into large groups and auto attack the rest; you’ll tag most, especially once you start learning where things spawn, which won’t take long.

Don’t remember what gear I use, but it’s not typical of flame thrower builds; I’ll edit this when I get home.

Crafted yellows. “Explorer’s Noble” items, which is Power, Precision, and Magic Find, with 5/6 superior runes of the pirate (50 more magic find) and an Opal Orb (more power, precision, and magic find. For rings and such go for “Opal Mithril _ of the Explorer” for even more power, precision, and magic find.

I personally use nothing but. The only time i have issues is if i get too far away or if the mobs are immune before landing in the place they begin attacking or if they are chickens. LOL chickens i miss

going to test to see if they removed the miss problems with FT tonight tho.

Maces/hammers. I know another thread I said this in but it wasn’t this one so I’m putting it in here.

We need hammers both 1h 2h hammers you already have great steampunk graphics in the game for this concept. and give us some stun knockback abilities that would be fun. It would be a far cry better then the toolkit.

I dunno if i am. I’ll reserve judgement when i see the changes in combat first hand but from what I’ve read they’ve ignored the things we’ve asked for entirely.

-Kits should scale with gear
-grenade kit #1 should auto attack and should tab target only, no more of this pointing with a mouse that disappears while fighting crap.
-healing kits should put out an AOE heal when equipped without a trait for it
-the regen from turrets and kits should no longer overlap (regen from the turret should not interfere with the regen from the gun in the toolbelt.)
-the trait that allow explosions to heal should not be in the invention tree it should be in the alchemy tree and it shouldn’t be at the very end. (XII)
-and now since reading it, kits absolutely should give buffs dependent on which ones are equipped like the toolkit should give us toughness and protection when we put it on etc.

Just to be fair…you need to read the patch notes for elementalists and necros a little more closely. They aren’t really getting that big of a buff (and for Eles there are a few fairly serious nerfs). As far as I can tell, no class really got a huge buff this time around

I’d call giving buffs to the equipped weapons created by the eles and not buffs to the only class that has hardly any buffs compared to the others a serious imbalance issue. Yeah.

Kits not only need to scale with gear but they also need buffs when equipped not spell effects (cept the two kits that do healing need an AOE heal when equipped without traiting, the healing kit doesn’t even have AOEs)

they absolutely need to address this immediately. Why does the kit for tools not give us protection toughness when on?

Why doesn’t flamethrower kit give us any buffs?

Why doesn’t the healing kit have an AOE effect when equipped (without traiting).

Why did someone at Anet think it was a good idea to give these things to an ele and think that more imbalance in the scout classes would be a good thing especially in the one scout class that’s been a second class citizen in Tyria since launch.

I don’t pvp either i hate pvp entirely…this patch is definitely NOT what they needed to do for this class to fixit. It’s highly disappointing.

Three things needed to absolutely happen in this patch for engineers:

1: kits scale with gear
2: cond/healing rebuffed to work properly in pve
3: kits give buffs when equipped like the ele created weapons do.

Those three things would have made me think they were going in the right direction with this title..right now I’m not so sure. notably with the addition of the new tier armors…..don’t get me started.

Me neither Ronin. We need a response as to why our kits don’t give us buffs like the weapons that the elementalists give when equipped AND why they don’t scale in damage with the weapons/armor we have equipped AND why they aren’t effected by the “when switching to this weapon blah happens” runes?!?!?!

Not only are we forced STILL even AFTER this update to keep our cookie cutter builds because really nothing as far as specific kits or weapon types have changed ie Engineer A does exactly the same amount of damage with his grenades as engineer B both have different exotic armors on, both have different weapon types on, but when equipping the grenade kit they do exactly the same damage. That’s pigeonholing. (just bugs were fixed like targeting and behavior) but not we have to contend with our profession being imbalanced when compared to other classes.

I mean I get it. We’re supposed to be a support class, and we’re a scout class. But the design of the class should not force us to be exactly the same no matter what we do, and that’s how the kits are right now. Traits aside, the kits need to scale with gear at the very least, AND they should scale in the way the type of gear requires. Sure cond damage enhances burns, but if you take that trait away, they do exactly the same damage directly, instantly when they attack the same target with the #1 ability on the grenades kit. Doesn’t that bother anyone over there in the office? at all?

pistol shield is actually what I use now at 80 however looking back it would be nice to have thought of it (im slow) while leveling.

I do this. I use pistol shield I have some kind of quickening effect (green potion or I get a run that gives me quickening to put on my weapons. I have it on my two exotics right now it’s awesome.)

If you are high enough level I would suggest specing so that your traits give you toughness, regen, vigor and swiftness. This helps me alot. I think my traits are 0/30/0/30/10 I’m planning on making some minor adjustments simply because I don’t really need in events to have immunity to conditions when other people’s AOEs are taking those off of me when I run thru them, but I love the cloaking device when in Orr when I’m immobilized. It’s so annoying running around that place.

you don’t really need much in stats just power/precision/%damage from crits.

It’s a good idea to keep your amor up to date. and if you don’t like something in the traits I’d suggest taking those ten points out and putting more in inventions so that you get extra toughness from having a shield equipped.

Almost forgot. Abilities I use are 6-healing pot 7-quickness pot (green) 8-goggles (for fury but you can put anything here I sometimes use the purple pot for buffs) 9- Charr hidden pistol (I use this one as an engineer because of the Fkey. As a pistol wielder it helps to have this handy for a quick unload for loads of damage. There is a whole list of them for other races.

Work around for Grenade Spam without autocast ?

Map your #1 key to a middle mouse click if possible. It’s what I did and works great for throwing grenades while moving against moving targets.

I only just now realised how painful it must be for people that have to use WASD and spam 1 at the same time.

I don’t know what I’d do without my movement thumbstick

I might have to upgrade mine. I didn’t know they enhanced the placement of the buttons might make it easier to hit the Fkeys for those extra abilities us engis get.
