the DE’s and metas would be mine (tho i have to say waiting on a boss to show is not fun at all!) the rest of the mechanics for these events are great imo. the only other time i’ve enjoyed that is in one other game with the same type of event system in place it starts with an R.
I used to like the combat system but they’ve really done a number on my class so until they fix the glaring issues in it I’ll just say it requires alot of work to get it back to the glory it had at launch. Engineer.
I think it’s stupid to lose them when downed, they should make you lose them when dead if they truly want to make downed meaningful as a means to help struggle. They also have an immensely imbalanced downed state set of skills so it’s definitely a huge problem for some classes including those focused on conditions.
This game is basically digging it’s own grave. the rewards system is nonexistant, we’re still waiting on the huge “kitchen sink” ui updates that most games have by now in their development stages, and the imbalance with the classes in pve and pvp has been severely understated for a long time now. (some of these things they are working on but “will it be enough?” I believe is the question)
So some of us have been watching from afar to see what they’ll do next.
lol, and I hate the people that says “if you don’t like it, leave.”
and you have to make a giant post about it. You failed to realize some people enjoy the game to certain extent, but there are problems with the game. Nothing is perfect, if you do not allow criticism, this game will not improve at all.
He said that criticism is perfect for the game, but he mentions that people go on just to say “this game is a chore” which is not constructive at all. If you enjoy the game but want to be constructive on things you have problems with fine, but if all you’re doing is not having fun and you have nothing good to add then there is no point in complaining.
I’ve been one of the loudest people here about the problems with this game and I agree they shouldn’t force themselves to play, however, they have the right to come here and complain about a product that failed to live up to it’s promises that were made prior to launch and that’s what we’re seeing here.
It’s true that some games go thru this period where they are trying to play catchup but that’s nowhere near the scale of what’s wrong with this title on multiple fundamental points.
Also, I believe it would have been way more constructive for the OP to suggest people go to the suggestion forums and make suggestions on how to improve the game while fulfilling their need to complain about a substandard product instead of just saying go play something else. (as I and many others have done in our posts, provide historic examples of better solutions to the problems this game faces along side our posts about our disappointments)
I PLAY AN ENGINEER. Having said that, I don’t think an Engineer should be able to toss turrets onto walls. Instead they should be placed at the Engineer’s feet as having to set them up. We don’t even have technology to do that in modern times. So how could physics be broken to such a ludicrous degree? If anyone reading this has played Portal, what happens when you throw a turret? It falls over due to poor weight balancing. Turrets being able to be thrown onto walls in PVE or WvW is an idiocy. As a person who plays Engineer and enjoys playing it, i think this needs to be fixed. It does not seem right that they could toss them. It would feel much better if you had to place them at your feet, as if having to set it up. I also think the time it takes to deploy a turret should be adequate to time it takes to set up a tripod for anything. This is MY suggestion, does not have to be yours.
EDIT: Anet: This idea would make the Engineer much more fun in my opinion. And the only people who would disagree are the people who enjoy “exploiting” this poor system mechanic. Yes “Exploiting”.
I agree the tossing should be removed but the way to fix this problem is to make them immune to a large degree of the AOE attacks (all pets should be imo it’s been done before and worked wonderfully for years) (including sword swings) and make them traited to be mobile like the ranger spirits.
Many of these things were proposed in Nov 2012 to help them understand that they were destroying their own economy in the process of messing with loot ratios and add DR to the open world and dungeons.
I don’t want to burst anyone’s bubble of hope but it’s been almost a year and I and others like me really aren’t expecting anything fantastic when it comes to money in this game because they still use the gold to gems standard, until they remove that they will continue to keep the prices high and the gathering of gold low.
Ever wonder why we don’t have a hearthstone? Or why they don’t allow every class to run the same permanent speed? Or why they don’t have mounts? Or DR when the bots have long left this game? (haven’t seen a teleporting bot in a long long time now in Orr porting between gathering nodes)
They claimed they’d be doing something about the rewards system and I was seriously expecting it on this major patch but it just doesn’t seem to be priority it’s like they think people will keep playing forever and that it doesn’t matter what they do people will still spend money on their product.
I hope for the sake of those of you who stayed that I’m wrong but at this point with the recent patch showing us the poor decision making process is still very much alive I just have no hope left after almost a year of waiting for even something as simple as a ui patch.
“We post when we’re able. We read pretty much ALL the threads on here, but we have time to respond to very few of them.” https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/engineer/Are-you-there-God-It-s-me-Klaus/first#post2297251
“Thank you guys for finding this. I have a fix ready. It will take about a day but it should be in tomorrow.” https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/engineer/PSA-Rifled-barrels-Bugs-rifle/first#post2305128
I like GW2 and I personally think a-net does an awesome job. Do they listen? Yes. Do they forgo their priorities in order to cater to every whim of the player base who always label everything as a ‘quick and easy fix’ even though even the tiny portion of player base with programing background still doesn’t know how the game is actually coded? No. (Not that you are one of them but there are many posters who are) As long as I see them continue to make improvements, I won’t assume I know how easy their improvements are.
Oh please LOL other more free games update their ui in what is normally called a kitchen sink patch by now or do you seriously want us to list the games that all updated theirs before their 1 year anniversary.
This is an aside concerning the updates they do need which wouldn’t take much time for them at all considering how quickly they’ve come out with much more complex so called “bug fixes” for farmable areas in Orr or the ever popular argument they couldn’t possibly fix the imbalance on classes when we’ve seen them churn out unnecessary and misguided nerfs destroying whole sets of builds not to mention classes in a couple of weaks time.
The weakness of your excuse is showing, and it doesn’t suffer from the nerf to weakness in the latest patch.
The other argument i find stupid is that “it’s from another game” mmos have been using ui elements and store elements from other titles for years doesn’t mean they are bad or wouldn’t improve this game immensely. Head over to Wildstar and count the sheer number of ui elements that game is going to launch with and then come here and try to make that claim.
cmon you guys can do better than to make these baseless arguments against us pointing out the obvious.
(edited by tigirius.9014)
I’m also still not seeing them push the envelope here to help players have more choices. Where are the global choices for 25% faster ooc run speeds or the fix for cone attacks once and for all, or the fixes for certain elite skills that are still to this day just as weak as the racials?
What they did the ranger pets was unforgiveable imo, it’s one thing to not follow the crowd when you are designing a game but contrary to popular belief the behind the scenes mechanisms are still the same rulesets for combat. There are always dots, direct, burst, healing, cures, pets, immunities, stuns and stunbreakers, superpowerful attacks, and superpowerful heals in ever single game out there. The problem is when there’s no one on your team who’s had a long history of playing multiple mmo’s who’s basically seen it all and can help you avoid the danger zones, you know those poor decisions often made when someone doesn’t know that it’s already history.
What they did to rangers happened already in countless games. smh. Why it happened is another story entirely, it’s one of those ADHD decisions we’ve seen like the engineers kit refinement redo that wasn’t needed at all but they did it anyway instead of making gadgets more viable in the first place by simple means like giving them boons or making some of them stun breakers like they finally did.
I’m spending my time watching from afar now but I just had to say something. Casinos have been in business for a very long time and one of the things casino owners had to deal with is the prospect of actually winning something. If customers never won anything the place gets a reputation for being rigged. In mmo’s it’s the same way. You have to have a carrot if it’s not gear it’s loot, if it’s not loot it’s currency to buy various things in the in game vendors.
I just logged into another game tonight hadn’t played it in two years, looked in the store and had enough currency for a new faster mount and a new weapon to help me level to max level without even doing anything else yet. This was currencies i had before but they kept in the game so that people could progress in ways without having to grind.
Guess what’ll happen when I’m max level? I’ll have earned enough of the end game currency to gear my character out max (for open world) and possibly buy another mount. That’s how you do non-sub games properly there has to be things that people can achieve relatively well without months or years or real money at every turn.
Right now in another game I’m playing I’m doing their in game gathering using my workers to get enough currency to redo my entire ship full of weapons. That way when they do their major update I’ll be ready with a whole new damage type, and it’s only going to take a month to get everything I need.
It should always be that simple for most goals in these games because they are actually games, not jobs.
Still waiting on their rewards revamp I was told about. I thought it might have been loaded in this patch but apparently not.
At this point there’s nothing for me to do but wait months from now and check back to see what they’ve done with the game. Maybe then they’ll have improved it to the point it’s joined the modern games in regards to balance in PVE, rewards, ui elements, economy. Until then I guess the only thing to do is to just wait and play something else.
I like most of the changes, but the one that shocks me is ranger. They utterly destroyed the class, which wasn’t great even before this epic nerf.
LOL they increased our bow damage and nerfed pets a tiny bit, sorry but I love the patch with my Ranger.
Yeah…“A tiny bit”….
Like, 27% for an auto attack is “a tiny bit.”
Like, 50% for a 20sec cooldown skill is “a tiny bit”You must understand, Rangers are the only profession who suffers through stat drop due to their main mechanic; a vast chunk of a Ranger’s DPS is nerfed to be replaced with our pet. Which, by the way, is often only capable of attacking one target at a time, and only if that target isn’t moving. Now that our pet’s attacks are being nerfed so greatly, the few attacks we can get with a pet in a fight have been…yuck.
The LB boost was nice, but they also made quickness on pet swapping non-existant unless traited heavily in beastmastery (which, btw, still has a trait background art mixed up with the wilderness survival line) — making it not worth the opportunity cost.
Another way the elephant in the room has a better system, they gave pets AOEs across the board so they could hit more than one enemy at a time especially with pets that generally were used for tanking, they had a 180 degree attack that swept everything up and gave pets the traits to heal and mitigate enemies damage.
This patch is just amazing how can they tout that they understand balance and then do something so incredibly awful to a single class. I am so glad I decided to delete mine because this is just as bad as the grenades nerf and the condition nerf on engineers months ago. wow.
You cannot argue that pet nerfs work when they were supposed to patch all skills (including those of pets like turrets, summons and creatures) separating the behavior of PVP PVE and WvW because it clearly states it was a nerf across the board.
The nerfs to pets on the rangers is the equivalent to the nerfs felt by the engineers in three sections before the shift to the separation of behaviors, on condition damage back in September, grenade nerfs multiple times, and nerfs to the speed of pistols that both thieves and engineers suffered along the way. It is to say these were essential to the DPS in any setting in PVE and nerfing them just made a poorly designed class even worse.
It was bad enough before with the lack of prestige the extremely slow shots and the lack of damage for anything other then AOE (anyone can see that only certain weapons are useful for that 1 AOE compared to other classes) the problem is this, they have 1 class that takes the cake on everything and this nerf to pets pretty much reinforces what many people were saying just after launch, that they’d might as well name this game Guild Warriors 2 for all the good any other class is worth compared to the same weapons the warriors use.
Warrior Rifles outdo Engis, Warrior longbows outdo rangers, Warrior long swords outdo guardians the list goes on. If it weren’t for condition damage on some of these classes there would be no choices at all and even that’s nerfed or controlled unjustly with a broken stack system all to save on resources but not allow for any augmentation of condition damage in condition builds save the norm or the new torment. Even the new engineer shots trait doesn’t work well. I and others tried it. Head on over to their forums you’ll see what I mean. It’s simply not well balanced and it’s only for two weapons most of which most don’t use because we’re usually using a kit or two even in heavy turret builds it doesn’t work well.
PVE balance in this game is a joke it really is, their focus was always esports trumps everything. PVE was dungeons and even that has forced people into running Zerker only and only certain classes because their damage is highly imbalanced compared to the three weaker classes. It’s sad eventually they’ll see what they are doing but then it just might be too late.
anyone know if there’s an updated online calculator so we can actually see the new traits and work them out without spending silver constantly to get our build the best we can make it?
Does anyone else find it ironic that objects that we need to blast thru aren’t affected by conditions but this thing dies as fast as the turrets do and aren’t immune like the objects are?
It’s sad when turrets/mortar are weaker then the racial elites are. If you’re a charr you’re pretty much kittened.
They’ve needed to follow the trends of other mmo’s in loot for a long long time now, it’s not just problems with the rewards system it’s a poor design to use the 2004 Bind to Character system.
They need to use the more modern Bind on Account especially since they don’t offer things like Profession Change items in their store. Seriously.
What will people be saying once even they can’t seem to find many people in LA much less anywhere else on these servers. The naysayers will still be looking at the level label placed on the server and yell “but it says full! what are you talking about?!”
I almost never see anyone on my server and it’s been one of the most full unofficial RP servers I can only imagine what it’s like on a low pop server where everyones guesting somewhere else.
I also don’t understand what the delay is on the rewards system, Why are we still waiting on something as simple as that?
It’s no wonder people are talking about playing other games while they are waiting for them to take these things seriously at this point. There’s only so much patience gamers have.
Oh that would explain it, I never use the thing since it has about as much defense as all the pets in the game including the turrets and gets destroyed in 2 seconds wasting an elite. Thanks.
“Launch Ice Mortar: Reduced the cooldown to 20 seconds.”
Ice Mortar? o.O
actually this has more to do with their system of movement, this happens when i press the autorun button all the time, it’s just more noticeable now to most than before because of the new design of this ability.
It’s something that was reported in beta that never got fixed.
Yep I agree it was a nice idea but sadly their testing didn’t send up red flags as usual. I haven’t noticed any kind of damage buff at all when using it. It’s like i might as well be sticking with what I was doing before. And it doesn’t even benefit any of the kits much less the rifle. It’s like someone decided to put a first draft as a permanent item in the list without testing it at all to see if it worked.
And then the buffs for the thing are way too low, 2% per item comes nowhere close to the 150% the other classes received for their main system of condition damage and this is taking into account the problem of each class having their own condition damage base and how short lived those conditions are as well as the conditions that sound like they would be deadly but are a pin prick tickle to most things like poison. Remember when poison was serious business?
I disagree with the blanket nerf to pet damage for Rangers.
I still dislike that there is not enough separation between PvP balance and PvE balance.
I dislike that the idea of balance is to nerf to the lowest rung on the pole rather than picking a baseline of a working build and bringing the rest of the builds up to par.
In the blog post that talks about the balance changes, Jonathan Sharp articulates why boosting all the other classes would be a bad idea. I recommend reading through it: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/upcoming-skill-and-trait-changes/
Pass. Typical dev doubletalk because it’s too hard. Been seeing that excuse for over ten years….and that approach didn’t work then, and doesn’t work now. They remind me of Sisyphus.
I’m not saying buff the already stable builds, I’m saying bring up the other builds to be on par with the stable ones. In other words, LOGIC.
Logic unfortunately would be to throw out what they are doing and actually accept the elephant’s in the room system of pets. That was the single best pet system I’ve ever seen. They had their own roles, traits, you didn’t have to make them use their own abilities, they had a system of getting the pets to the enemies faster, holding aggro, doing decent AOE damage while making the pets immune to a certain % of AOE damage, they had real taming, they had the best system imo.
This game’s ranger doesn’t come close honestly it’s why I decided to delete mine, useless, as useless as turrets are in a dungeon/pvp for engineers.
>Insect Swarm: This skill can no longer fire behind the drake.
Wtf? Why not? Drakes take so long to cast their attack that marsh drake was the only one that could actually land a hit. They act like this made it so OP.
I feel like Rangers have been qq’ing and kitten-talking to the devs for so long that someone decided to get revenge.
It’s rather funny. After months of complaining that pets died too fast, they increase pet health and toughness (mostly big pets like drakes and bears). Then they decide that they made pets too strong so what do they do? They make them worse than they were before.
When everyone else was freaking out and complaining, I stayed faithful and decided that what I cared more than pets being OP is build diversity and gave anet the benefit of the doubt. I see now that I was wrong. Three steps forward, two steps back.
Weird isn’t it. Hands down the best design for pets in on the elephant in the room. They had their own talent trees their own roles, that pet class had a real option to make pets their own focus, and pets didn’t have skills that missed or caused them to be clunky or useless. They had AOE immunity % so that they didn’t die within 2 seconds of having them out. They also got some of the stats from their owner.
What they have in this game doesn’t even touch it, not even close.
Yep it’s not. I prefered LOTRO’s system honestly. They had a couple of outfits available others were more store bought to have more. You took the items and placed them in the slots on the pane for the outfitter and then you right clicked on your toons icon to change them out. It was a simple design. That way you could have all of your outfits in one place. They had a total of something like 9 outfits to use and the items never took up space in your inventory or bank, the outfit slot took the item and held it there permanently until you removed it and did something with it. No fuss no messy cleanup.
sigh I miss that.
I think as far as balance goes what they should be doing is giving the other abilities 2-5 much shorter cooldowns and the #1 abilities the cooldowns the rest have right now but with bigger attack chunks, people wouldn’t feel like spamming the #1 ability because they’d be so much more powerful than they are now. But this would take some major testing and their current system just won’t cut it sadly, they are in desparate need of a PTR I’m afraid if they are to make appropriate changes to the combat system.
As it is they are struggling to do something about the glaring problems of condition damage. (like how each class does a different amount even tho they claim they don’t and how conditions like poison aren’t really deadly they are just a butter knife booboo instead of serious business)
Awesome concept actually. I am thinking the opposite of the spectrum.
Make all pets do their own F2 skills to. AND add to them role traits, give them their own trait trees to enhance their skills/stats. It would certainly improve the game, one of the few things Blizz did right with their hunters was doing just that.
Make pets focus truly viable.
There IS a STUN BREAKER on Healing Mist, Elixir Gun tool belt!
awesome I wondered where that went!
In theory yes. In practise. The “Hardcore” people are locusts that devour content then demand more and more and more without rhyme or reason. They can never be appeased and have tore down many a promising game. They claim to want harder content, but will exploit their way through it every chance they get.
But dungeons aren’t “hard”, they’re stupid. Difficulty is about the ratio of how hard something is to how satisfying it is when you beat it, like defeating an old but really hard game without cheats (like Megaman 2 or Ghosts n Goblins). Stuff like the dungeons we have now are not just stupidly designed but UNFAIRLY designed. There’s pretty much no creativity to them, just, “Ahahaha we gave all the bosses looooots of HP, CC-proofing, and make them hit like 18-wheelers on nitro! We did a great job guys, Honolulu trips for everyone!!1”
>:|
I agree 1 shotters are never fun, especially when they are immune to everything, drop their OP AOE skills on top of your AOE healzones 99% of the time, and make it take forever to kill something just because they are bigger. I almost miss the dances we had in other game titles, you know, stand over here, rush the dps before the enrage timer, jump back when they do this AOE, turn around three times and stick your right foot out, at least we wouldn’t be instakilled even tho they too made bosses immune to most CC.
what about guardian, mesmer, engineer, necro?
Engineer has had some shuffling and bug fixes. The only direct buff we’ve received is the grandmaster trait for pistol/rifle damage on enemies with conditions, the more conditions the better the shot damage from these weapons.
IMO it would have been much better to not limit which weapons received this damage to just 2. ( I think the TK,BK,EG,FT would have all benefited from this bonus especially considering we’re dependant on conditions much more so then most classes). Or at the very least gave engis a torment like enhancement to the condition builds.
I like what they did with engis cept 1 thing. Napalm Specialist is in a weird place now, not sure how that’s supposed to help anyone being in the same slot with the new pistol/rifle enhancement especially in the condition builds that use the traitline above it to enhance the condition damage and get more damage from explosives, but i guess most people probably weren’t using it.
I would have loved a system similar to torment for the conditions of the engineer that directly improved the damage output of conditions since we are directly stuck with conditions in every build of one kind or another.
They have in WoW for years. The question is are the new developers keeping up with the demands of both crowds. It’s one thing to have a ten year old game that some players just accept certain things with because it would cost too much to change certain things entirely (like WoW trying to do the open world event system and being dungeon/raid focused as it’s always been) it’s entirely another for a new title that’s trying to make it to ignore the playerbase.
The best example of both being in the same place would be Rift in my opinion. They balanced their game quite well between both crowds. They provided gear and “enchantment” currencies, an in depth crafting system, minigames galor for the players to achieve in (fishing, housing, gathering lore items), and on the other hand they have a raid system some of which is open world just like the rifts and invasions, they have dungeons both solo and heroic, they have raids and pvp.
I think they did a great job listening to their playerbase and it shows.
<goes and reads the notes again to see if he missed something about mines....> hmmmrocket boots are way to much fun. Slick shoes are awesome. Been running around with land mine and battering ram here and there as well. Glad to see the Eg stun breaker as well. Great patch i think.
Is it just me, or is there a short delay between landing the rocket boots and continuing forward?
Not on my charr I fly across do a flip and I’m running on all fours instantly.
Had you been an engineer, just setup a bomb on the stack of all of your bombs and wait for them to get close and set it off only to die watching them all run away laughing because your bomb went off like a firecracker, much like everything else in our downed state.
I was hoping for the armor even tho it’s lacking some serious gearage for my taste it would have been nice to earn certain pieces or buy them with karma from the vendors for this event. It is weird they didn’t make the weapons a direct buy.
Sorry the medium armor that engineers got stuck with does not have anywhere near enough gears on it for my taste.
Uhm i just picked up a dragon chest from a mob that had text in Korean…
My superior runes of the pack aren’t working even tho they show the visual indicator when i get hit. 0 boons appear.
And the AOE loot function isn’t working.
And are we supposed to see some kind of boon or indicator that the 2% per condition trait is working on engineers because it doesn’t look like anything’s changed really.
(edited by tigirius.9014)
Please add these much needed improvements to the engineer in the next patch.
Bomb Kit: the #1 skill will now apply 2 stacks of vulnerability instead of 1 stack. (to compensate for the missing stack that grenades provides without the grandmaster trait)
Torment: Added a new condition called Torment. This does damage every second (75% of bleeding) and double damage to foes that are moving (150% of bleeding). Stacks intensity. One could make this for burning since burning does not stack. I would love to see an enhancement like this for engineers since we don’t have burst DPS options like other classes do.
Rocket Boots/Slick Shoes equipping either one of these gadgets now provides an out of combat run speed of 25% until used. Toolbelt skills don’t remove the run speed effect.
Thanks for all of the changes this month. Keep up the good work!
We’ve also been buffed many times alongside those nerfs, and we have some of the best builds out there. I’m not worried.
Solely in pvp, they still haven’t fixed almost a year of PVE nerfs.
i think new condition dont fits too engis , like confusion to necros , isk why some ppl thinks diffrent. Right now engi can stack all codis from the game in few seconds , the presure from it is huge so giving them new condition will brake engis
Actually no we can’t only guardians or thieves who’ve stolen plasma. can do that at once we have RNG to deal with.
i wouldnt say we need it the most. at all. it would be a nice addition to the arsenal.
warriors NEED something like torment. necros NEED it too.
we dont.
Gasp not a single comment on my last sentence huh?! sigh….
Love that video, but I wouldn’t say it’s very accurate. The turret lived far, far too long, and was actually able to accomplish something.
This is more like it.
Yep much more like it! 2 second life span in any part of the game!
Oh for the love of……. -sighs-
People complain about everything being in RNG boxes and demand more items be sold directly in the gem store, and now that we have a new skin in the gem store people complain about that. Seriously sometimes I’m glad Arena Net just seems to ignore half of the people on these forums.
Or you could look at it from reality’s stand point, that people keep complaining there’s not enough in game earnable without gold cosmetics and this is their answer to that?
Yeah I agree with the OP, hiding the steampunk behind the gem store is just wrong on so many levels. It’s pretty much clear now what their goals really are, it’s not to improve the game’s fun level it’s to improve the profits at all costs including their playerbase.
If this is true that’s not making and honest living that’s bordering on greed seriously.
If only GW2 forums had a ignore feature (not intended for op)
to the op, I can sum an answer up for you nice and quick…welcome to b2p/f2p mmo model, GW2 does this model the best, go ahead and try other f2p/b2p they don’t even compare.
Gemstore/buygold>everything else
Actually STO does this one best simply because there’s like 4 easy to find/build in game currencies. Not so easy that people can purchase anything but easy enough that a week usually is all that’s needed for the things people desire the most.
They also don’t limit loot, highest tier stuff drops all the time from regular activities, and they are doing something that no other game is doing right now, guild (fleet) gear, some of the best gear comes from the fleet which each member contributes to building and improving upon which in turn gives a currency called fleet credits that can purchase top end gear and enhancements. It’s seemless so you don’t even notice you’re doing it and you can do it solo, unlike the forced grouping “every guild must be online at the same time for everthing” GW2 currency for their guild items.
The OP is right, the reason why games no longer use the RNG focus is due to it’s unreliable nature. You have to grind when RNG is in place. There is no other choice. Right now I’m just grinding my dailies because there’s literally nothing for me to buy with laurels cept crafting bags due to the extreme shortage on T6 mats for anyone not wearing 300% or more MF or not hit with permaDR all the time. And I don’t even want a legendary but in order to afford anything I have to sell something. It’s turned into a job.
I hope their rewards patch is soon I do.
Love the tactics people try to use to justify their own problems of “not being accepted” as the problem of the OP that the very nature of him not wanting people to post negative comments on his thread somehow invalidates his well thought out post. That’s a strawman and a weak argument not all of the posts on these forums are for the fanboy vultures to chew on some of them are actually just for the devs to read and listen to their consumer base. Just because you don’t have the same view doesn’t mean the OP is in any way wrong or their views, on how the game mechanics are presently, inaccurate. Amazes me people really think 1 sentence makes the whole thing fictitious especially from people who’ve made broad statements that they don’t care about the rewards system they’re only there for the “fun”.
(edited by tigirius.9014)
The credits list that Inculpatus cedo.9234 posted is way out of date (probably from the Nightfall days if memory serves), so don’t refer to it for GW2-related discussions, please. Many of those folks have change roles or moved on to other companies.
Yet you avoided the OP question ?
Mine won’t be answered either, I simply want to know if the people from the manifesto are still there.
I doubt I’ll get an answer.
There hasn’t been any big news coverage about lay offs, or firings, or large (since synonym I wanted to use is filtered glowers at anet) exodus that I have found. Most likely, as with all companies, people have just migrated to ‘better’ jobs. It is common in this industry. Rarely is there a lot of advancement opportunity as most employers will simply hire to fill the position, as such, in order to ‘grow’ people will change jobs.
Well in the context of the passion that people said was lost on this game just after launch I’m sure I’m not the only one who wonders if this occurred in the main pre-launch development team. Not saying this is what happened but one cannot deny it would certainly explain alot if it is the behind the scenes story.
I can almost guarantee you, not giving people something to DO will lose more people than giving them something meaningless to do.
He is saying, give people something better to do on a slower time table.
That’s what I’ve been saying. If they redo the rewards properly and switch to a more permanent system of adding content that didn’t involve dungeons, they’d see the game and the world fill up properly. I’m not really sure what’s going on to delay this (other then the standard testing to weed out any exploits) but it just seems to be it’s taking an enormous amount of time to get this situated.
I like others tho would rather they go thru fix all of the problems with combat in PVE including CC support and condition damage and pet resistance to AOEs and AI functions, go thru correct the rewards system (which they are working on granted), go back and correct the nerfs to the three weakest classes they put into the game to balance PVP which in turn broke many aspects of PVE, update the UI to include a more modern expected set of features found in most mmos, and then start working on content for the game in a permanent sense. I think most would agree, there’s plenty of older content to hold us all over for a month while they make a kitchen sink update like this we’d be patient enough while they told us when they’d have this update wouldn’t you think?
hmm interesting I only knew or heard about Anet hiring, not people leaving. Wonder what happened. Anyone have news links on this because I check three major gaming news sites daily and never heard a thing the entire 10 months? My other question would be who exactly was it that left or was fired (if anyone was fired) and were they from the original team that spoke to people in the pre-launch interviews and/or the manifesto?
I’d like to have racial turrets and racial backpacks. We all know none of the other races other then human or charr would be caught dead in a hobo pack. I’d suggest they revamp these and the turrets to reflect the race much like the totems were redone in WoW to reflect the race on shamans.
Even with all of it’s limitations in PVE engineer is the class for me. I won’t play much of anything else. Tried the thief not really impressed, tried the ranger, deleted him because it was boring. The only other class I’d ever consider would be the guardian but those are a dime a dozen.
