Runes of the Earth

you get 25+50+90 once. Just the sum of those three numbers 1 time. The number in () is basically the number of that type of rune indicating how many of those runes you need to get to the final bonuses. ie you can’t have 3 runes and get the 25% chance to gain protection for 4s when hit. We wear a maximum of 6 pieces of armor.

because they still have yet to fix the problems with condition damage entirely. It’s just not designed well and thus is the reason why we really don’t see any other types of builds in PVE but burst zerker builds.

Everyone stop complaining about ascended

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

tigirius.9014

Actually no I just posted about how this system of upgrading to ascended which is necessary btw for anyone who wishes to see the newest fractals they are coming out with or for doing WvW, is not alt freindly at all.

New players in particular are being forced to grind because the materials needed to make their gear doesn’t drop until you are doing the champion level events at level 80. Huge oversight imo. This not only affects new players but also older players with multiple alts. Basically you have to level thru the entire game and then start grinding at level 80 some of which you’ll already have done prior to reaching level 80.

As far as the feel is concerned, exotics were the end game gearing process and it’s not the new players fault nor is it the older players with multiple alts fault that they didn’t make exotics harder to get, but now those two types of players will be punished.

Ascended and Alts.

in Crafting

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

How Ascended gear is not at all alt friendly:

1: I noticed today while playing my level 26 Guardian that I didn’t receive a single bit of the materials from killing the bosses I normally kill in low level zones on this toon but I do normally receive those materials on my level 80 that had been downscaled to that zone. This doesn’t bode well for players with multiple toons especially for those with 8 that are not all level 80.

2: Dailies only add 1 laurel because there’s only 1 daily per account. Back when this was added it was the same problem, people wanting to get this gear because of WvW concerns had to spend extra months trying to get the pieces you did offer from the Laurel vendor, now that the rest of the gear is coming, this problem still exists.

3: There are no alternate ways of gathering the materials one needs to craft the ascended other than those listed. No rich veins at the very least which should carry the ore needed to make such weapons and armor can be found. So what does this mean? It means that for people who are doing 8 characters they have to now do 8 sets of these bosses to get enough dragonite ore to make the items they need to remain competitive in WvW/fractals.

I don’t suppose anyone over there brought up this concern considering we’re supposed to believe the devs are actually gamer’s and understand gamer’s concerns. One of the biggest part of any mmo gaming community are those who play multiple alts. Many times I’ve read in the forums how people have enjoyed the diversity of this game so much that they’ve made 8 characters each a different class. Surely people can see that this system works against them.

Yeah troll I could record a log of 3 hrs and post it on Youtube but I dont have so much hard disk space.

Well I can see the naysayers are out in full force in this thread. “Don’t worry folks, nothing to see here, there’s no grind or anything to be upset about, it’s all in your heads” riiight whatever. Do the math you’ll see what we mean.

Why was Karma income nerfed by ~90%?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

I think that’s a bit of a conspiracy theory there, suggesting that they are gating karma hardcore just to keep people playing longer.

I think it’s far more likely that karma jugs will be on the gem store soon, but they didn’t want to make this karma nerf at the same time or people would quickly come to that conclusion. I’m thinking November or December- karma jugs on gem store.

Uhm have you actually looked at how long it’s going to take to get enough mats from playing the game for the new tier of crafting. At this point it stops being a conspiracy theory and starts being a fact. Time-gating is what they are good at just look at LS and how that was done and how people can’t experience that content again because it’s gone. That too is evidence.

Reducing the karma is only part of the scheme.

I hate that they made the game about grinding and it’s amazing to me that some people can’t see that. And I’m a farmer! That’s all I do is login gather mats and even I know this is overboard on the grind! Seriously.

Gotta agree. Wish they’d spend as much time adding permanent DE’s and metas to the world as they did adding new gear tiers or changing things that were never broken to begin with in our classes.

Wish they’d add fun activities like fishing, digging, or climbing to make it more realistic.

They could even add a whole new craft to the game that handles these things. Since you bring up WoW they could have added their equivalent of Archeology by now!

How does this game not have fishing?

in Suggestions

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

This game needs fishing ..
Heck, the game had even from begin on fishing rods implemenmted..

The very first thing I found when i entered the first time that lvl 25+ norn area was a darn fishing rod in a lake that was usable as environmental item which blocked up all my weapon skills, because the item had yet no corresponding skills where <i thought, ok, this might be updated in future, otherwise why implement something liek that into the game, when it doesn’t get used later somehow for what it is intended to be used for.

The crafting system about collecting stuff with gathering tools can be improved with more gathering jobs.

Fishing is just one of the possible things.

But I also mis DIGGING, god darn the game has SHOVELS, wehy can’t we dig with them in the ground to maybe find something…god darn it twice, we kittening can DO IT IN SAB, so why not in the real game???

The game would become so much more interesting, if we could go on for fishing or digging. It would open up so many possible new crafting recipes, especialyl for cooking with all the various fish food materials and crustaceans ect. pp that we could fish to make out of them new meals

Diggign could be used to get some living lures for fishing again, like worms or various bugs..

I always remember on Offline RPG’s with fishing minigames, like the Breath of Fire Series, Legend of Legaia Series or Dark Chronicles/Cloud 2 which were always soo much fun, or especialyl fishing in the Zelda games
Was always just awesome, when you broke new records for catching the biggest fish of a specific species that has ever been caught …
it always made me somehow proud, when I was able to break records by catching bigger fishes than anyone before me…

That together with fitting achievements and titles, would be awesome with extra awesome sauce !!

I miss those things too, some games have digging and climbing. I’d love to see those in this game as well. To me those two things made the game more realistic. Have you seen previews of Black Desert? They further enhanced the algorithm that Anet uses too btw in GW2 that controls terrain collision. It’s what we see when our toons are standing on a 45 degree angle and one leg is bent to make it more realistic. Black Desert added another function to make their toons do a bit of climbing or catch themselves on a letch with their hands and pull themselves up. I miss things like that too.

Fishing Digging and Climbing would be so awesome.

I was extremely happy that they made travelers have everything I usually use in runes, condi and boon duration + movement speed, it freed up 20 points in the toolbelt line!

Condition nerf incoming?

in Engineer

Posted by: tigirius.9014

Yeah they need not nerf us anymore, they actually need to increase our DPS in PVE and give our DoTs the ability to crit per pulse because it’s really really bad. They nerfed condis months ago and ever since then burst dps classes outdo us in condi damage ratios.

I’m all for nerfing something that needs it (and trust me warriors need it) but they need to do something to fix engineers and nerfing us is not fixing us in PVE.

I tried cloaking today to run past a mob in Orr and I have +10% boon duration, did the whole smoke bomb + big ole bomb combo, it lasted all of 2 seconds. It’s no secret that what makes people come to a game are activities with rewards so in that spirit I asked for things that would improve the game months ago. Never got a response… Incidently, if they put these items into the game it would most likely distract people from the grind and other negative aspects of the game right now because we’d all be busy doing these things.

It’s called “The Rising” and has following features:
- Tequatl Overhaul
- LFG System
- parallel overflow bosses
- world wide dragon warning (currently limited to tequatl and invasion)

Wow that’s some amazing features coming up to GW2

Hm. You don’t 3 million players telling you for an entire year, that bosses like Teq and SB are HP sponges. This could have been in for launch, or shortly after. Not over a year later.

A LFG system that really..isnt LFG. Its gw2lfg.com put in the game with a UI. And again, a Quality of Life feature that could of and should have been in game at launch. Most AAA MMOs launch with one these days. At least the MMOs released in the last two or three years.

Most MMOs that released in the past 2-3 years did not have LFG at launch. In fact, the SWToR and Rift, two of the more popular games didn’t have LFG at launch.

The fact is most AAA games dont’ have LFG at launch. I don’t know why people think otherwise.

The ones this year have. In fact Wildstars gaming code, shows to have three times as many standard UI elements in their game title right now as is than GW2 has had since it’s launch, sad too because it’s from the same publisher.

These things are standard you know and even the AAA titles that didn’t have it at launch, they took only a few months to come out with it, whereas this team too more than a year even after changing to their fractal focus game system.

That’s the point people are making about this whole deal….someone over there isn’t managing time or projects properly and it shows in their updates every single month, has since launch. You can deny alot of things but you can’t deny that.

The type of crash was the kind that forced me to restart, there was no report because even the report launcher system didn’t function anymore and neither did windows 7, when I restarted my character took about 5 minutes to login by then one of the final champions we were fighting had died and of course I got 0 credit for the whole thing and no chest. At the very least someone there should make it so that people get credit for the kill when they participate for 50% of the hitpoints the enemy loses before a crash happens, it’s not our fault that we’re taken out of the game before the enemy reaches 0% hitpoints or that the game’s login server takes 4 forevers to log us back into the game when a crash like this happens.

So......where's the grind?

Anet:

Fun impacts loot collection.
The rarest items in the game are not more powerful than other items, so you don’t need them to be the best. The rarest items have unique looks to help your character feel that sense of accomplishment, but it’s not required to play the game. We don’t need to make mandatory gear treadmills, we make all of it optional, so those who find it fun to chase this prestigious gear can do so, but those who don’t are just as powerful and get to have fun too.

The rarest item have unique looks. Stop.
They were taking about legendaies, but now they are on pair with ascended. Stop.
Do you have to repeat again and again a specific content to get them? Yes.
Even if you don’t like that specific content? Yes.
Are some of us interested in this form of gamplay. No.
Will we be less strong than people with an ascended set? Yes.
Is all this invalidating their last sentence that sold us this game? Yes.

In a recent interview Colin Johanson said that they were not happy that people were able to full-equip their character in 1 or 2 weeks with exotics.

So Ascended are here to be carrots.

At least Colin said that he really hopes that this is not the beginning of a treadmill.

Sometimes I wonder what people would have said if they had put ascended also in a dungeon merchant for an amount of tokens that devs consider appropriate.

So I thought: if a max stats exotic GS costs like 2g and its equivalent in dungeon’s tokens is 390 (6,5 runs) an ascended GS, that costs like 58g, should costs something like 11.310 tokens.
Well 188,5 runs, 3 at day for 2 months, just for a single item.
But the limit is set to a specific dungeon, so you can always do more thant 3 paths daily and do your JOB working on other pieces farming other dungeons.

Aaah this would be so cool, because I know for sure that people would still come here, on this forum, with their white armors swearing that there is no grind at all.

Thank you for pointing this out! I am just as amazed as you are that they actually think this is what people consider fun! And I’m a farmer! That’s all I do all day is gather and even I think this is overboard!

I’m hoping that they at least have some good things in store for engineers on Oct 1st considering the problems we’ve had including their most recent nerf of kits back to exotic damage tables which doesn’t help us at ALL in PVE!

Also, think about PVE content: Is there a single role that an Engineer can fill that another class can’t fill better?

The answer: no.

Here’s two.

Support and Burst DPS. They are all but a joke in this class due to the nerfed explosion radius mostly and due to the extra steps we have to take to get an AOE heal that the other classes simply don’t have to deal with. And the traits for this “adventurer class” aren’t anywhere near where they should be to enhance the output of burst dps, we have missing traits that the other two classes have.

Might stacking is actually inherently messed up for an engineer because you basically have to be drunk and covered in your own potion filth before seeing any results while Guardians only have to use 1 skill for 4 seconds and bam they have 25 instantly and this skill they use heals them!

Engineer: Comprehensive Suggestion List

Reduce the cooldown on all gadgets.

Increase the health of turrets SIGNIFICANTLY.

Make turrets scale based on your stats.

Add new gadget traits.

I’ve already made arguments about why buffing health and damage on turrets is not going to make them good (it could make them overpowered, though, if taken too far). Gadget traits are cool, but only suggesting that they exist would flesh them out any further than that. Actually speaking of traits, I think that Engineers could stand to have more Turret traits. It’d be nice to see some skill options tied to Overcharge activation (reflection bubbles; AoE daze sonic wave; 300-range AoE pull, etc).

This problem has been in every mmo with 3D graphics and classes with AOE skills that do AOE damage on pets. They need to make all pets immune to a certain percentage of AOE damage say 85% (some games had to go 90 because that’s all most people will use especially in open pvp zergs) or they need to make them untargetable by these AOE skills and only directly targetable with the mouse that way even the Champions we are fighting or bosses won’t instakill them and we’d have a viable build with them again. It’s not that difficult. Other games already did this kind of thing and it worked on their pet heavy build classes has for years in some cases.

Great list! Some of these things were already suggested way back when the game started. Unfortunately they have the tendency to not only ignore the problems of this class but also completely ignore the solutions offered them to fix it.

One of the things about the Bomb kit is they keep playing with the explosion radius of everything, they need to increase it to what it was, It’s a bomb, it’s supposed to have a wider explosive radius than handheld weapons and I completely agree with you on the speed differences it’s stupid.

The Lament of the Engineer

in Engineer

Posted by: tigirius.9014

Completely agree on both counts Vi especially the downed skills there are tons of ways they could have improved these for us. Throwing explosives for one, cloaking device to hide us, explosion that actually does as much damage as the assassin thing the mesmers do. Tons…they just don’t give a care.

There’s also problems with the damage ratios levels 50-80 that become obvious to anyone who’s played other classes including warrior where you noticeably become nerfed compared to these other classes and it then takes much longer to kill anything no matter what kit you’re wearing or what your gear is it’s obvious.

The pet thing, don’t even get me started, they want me to believe that my engineer doesn’t have enough knowledge as a Charr or even if I were playing an Asura to allow my turrets to be mobile and follow me around?! Really? or that they can’t be smart enough to move out of an AOE zone? smh.

And Condition damage output is a big part of our problem we’re one of the classes that need to have a buff on that big time, we were nerfed along with all of the other classes when they nerfed condition damage globally before they made the change to separate the nerfs/buffs for PVP balance from PVE months ago, we’ve never recovered since.

I’ve watched the numbers closely and I think we could benefit from giving the condition damage a boost by allowing condis the change to crit. Other games had that same problem and when they allowed their DoTs to crit it changed everything for those builds.

I’ve listed these things and the problems with our traits, and the problems with our base damage in PVE already they just have to read them and implement them. It’s not that hard.

What happened to the manifesto is a great question.

That’s what I’ve been asking since November and I too have been met with “this game isn’t for you” well that’s not what they said at Pax both prior to launch and just this year. Apparently the game is for the players according to Colin.

So I have to wonder, who’s in charge of listening to their playerbase? Who’s in charge of bringing to the attention the numerous and large lists of suggestions (most of which were found by playing years of other mmo’s) suggestions concerning solving the combat issues, the ui elements that should be considered 100% standard just like antilock breaks on a car, problems that every other mmo out there has had since the beginning of mmos with 3D environments and have made solutions for, solutions that this team has largely ignored? Because I think it’s high time that someone else took over that and took over a team dedicated to improving the game.

It’s been a year, and yes there are tons of things to fix in this game and having 0 people working on it is absolutely unacceptable I agree OP. Heck I’d work on it myself if I could! This game is kind of like the governments of today, there doesn’t seem to be a close enough connection between the people in charge and the people in the environment dealing directly during the time it’s been out. They had loads of communication going with the community prior to launch but now it’s like they ignore the problems and continue on without even looking back at the beginning of the large number of suggestions people have given them to make the game improve and I’m not talking about the unreasonable ones I’m talking the the solutions we players have already experienced in other titles for the very same problems those other titles have had parallel to this title. On paper it’s still a numbers game.

So......where's the grind?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

The worst part of it is getting crafting from 400 to 500.

After that actually making a weapon is kind of easy. The 2 week time frame they gave during the live stream last week is pretty close for some one who can play but maybe not 5+ hours a day.

I think part of the grind is the new 500 pieces to make anything of the new materials. It’s more actually of those types of items, things people are calling the T7 materials, twice as much of those are needed than what are generally needed of T6 materials for legendaries. Some of us feel this isn’t fair especially since for so long we’ve been cutoff from getting the T6 materials needed for crafting anything.

There’s also the problem of events. They still are based off of DPS participation so rezzing people in harder events probably won’t happen. I know the typical mmo player they generally ignore rezzing their fellow players especially if they think that they’ll miss the op for more damage or more loot. That also needs to be cleared up or fixed by Anet and yes we have provided them with examples of how to combat that problem and yes it does still exist. People in events simply don’t rez others usually and it’s worse when people who would normally rez don’t know other players are downed.

They need a couple of things. An autogroup for events option for groups larger then 5 people in the open world. And a system that grants players a bonus to loot chances when rezzing other players. That would solve that problem instantly and this is not the first time this has been a problem it’s been going on since the launch of the game, and it was proposed then too.

There’s also a question of whether DR will affect boss chests in these events specifically with the T7 items. If it does that’s yet another problem because when people who seem to have permanent DR on across their entire account all the time go and do an event will they be cutoff from these three materials for these items, these are important questions to be answered that definitely affects the time it takes to build the materials needed.

I’m one of the people who’s taking notice of more than one negative aspect of the coming updates (and those around the corner) however if the loot algorithm is truly fixed for those of us who had these issues with loot, while at the same time allowing people to increase their magic find permanently I do see that as a positive thing. It will improve the drops for everyone who does this for their account. I’ve been logging in to see if the loot has improved on my toon since the new patch has come out and it does seem to have improved especially in Orr. So we’ll see if this trend keeps going.

However that doesn’t change the problems concerning combat, PVE imbalance, lack of Anet trinity, large list of ui elements missing from this game (of which LFG was only the tip of the iceberg) etc.

We’ve been telling them about these problems for the better part of a year now some of which have been problematic since before the game launched so yeah we’re tired of waiting on some of them actually.

So, hear me out. Everyone is talking about time gating this and that, but it’s not been 24 hours since the new content changes. Before you had a handful of people with high magic find with the old model. Before long, you’re going to have a very large part of the community with 100+% magic find. Guess what, this is going to affect precursor and other T6 and T7 mats drop rates. Arenanet, contrary to people who like to poop on everything will say, pays attention to their game, and the players concerns. If you can’t see that they do, maybe you’ve not played other games lately. If you look at where this game is from when it came out, they have made tons of well thought out changes.

My point of all of this is, lets see how increased magic find across the board affects these things before freaking out. I have a feeling the precursor market is going to get better because of the across the board magic find increase. Before it was the rich getting richer, with a handful of the most geared characters getting more loot. This increase to magic find across the board should, to put it simply, increase the middle class in GW2.

"you don't need ascended to play the game"

You will need Ascended if you WvW. Unless you just like getting curbstomped and giving other players easy loot.

Well that’s just a flat out lie. Rare and exotics will do just fine.

Really, greens will do….
no wait… blues (10% stat increase?pfft shrugs off)…
heck why get blues when whites are just as good as blues ….
meh might as well run around naked…

i honestly think you can troll people so hard with
“you don’t need to….”

“you don’t need to play the game”
“you don’t need to level”
“you don’t need to get items”
“you don’t need to complete the game”
“you don’t need to …”

quite frankly, “you don’t need to” do anything at all, game or life.

LOL laughed at this because that’s how I treat these arguments as troll responses to people pointing out design flaws.

OP I see the opposite they are about to come out with annoying mechanics to make the world bosses harder and once they revamp the entire game with these mechanics without fixing the inherent issues in PVE combat and the imbalance issues that are still present after a whole year, the armor and weapons will most likely be needed to make it possible to survive these encounters instead of the trivial process we’re seeing. So the argument they present us with when they are arguing that the gear treadmill is a myth is doubly false due to the upcoming proposed changes that will require higher tier gear to survive which will most likely once again cut off the new players or disenchant them when they realize the sheer amount of grind that awaits them.

They are further harming the crafting community even more who’ve spent all this time reaching 400 on their skills by requiring yet another series of grinds to get to yet another max. (the harm they caused the crafting community before was when they were focusing too much on the mystic toilet to allow the better gear items to be made without skill but with simple luck).

Do you want harder content?

I think they should stick to making the extremely difficult stuff in dungeons because open world players (especially those who don’t enjoy instakill bosses or bosses that take an hour to kill) would rather not deal with this issue in the open world. It’s bad enough that support and CC are completely useless throughout the PVE world as it is.

This is yet another case of the “they should fix combat first before new content comes out.”

and what’s done is done. be the bigger man and accept it, or move on.

You don’t like time gating ,fine. What do you propose they do for ascended armor? post it in the suggestions forum in an orderly manner, that’s the only thing you can do at this point.

Why? They didn’t implement anything from the pages and pages of suggestions about implementing Ascended weapons (in a thread they created for feedback). What makes you think they would listen to a suggestion about ascended armor. Must better to accept our helplessness.

i’ve been to the suggestion pages only a few times, because most of what I see is “Iwant this!!!” “I want that!” Make THIS!!!
There are very few have constructive suggestions. Hell, I’ve seen more organized suggestions in the professions forum.

Kaaboose and I and a couple of others have given them ample long lists of updates ui improvements, fixes for combat etc. I don’t just come here to complain I’ve given them great examples of these same problems other mmos have had and have fixed without any major issues. There’s a pride thing happening here however that seems to be preventing them from using history’s examples and making the game much much better for the players that have stayed and in the process capture the attention of the players who left because we got fed up waiting forever for them to realize what’s wrong and to actually fixit.

The Lament of the Engineer

in Engineer

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

Okay, I just saw your edit, and that really confused me. Are you trying to say that the Engineer in its current state is not in need of any changes? That the uselessness of Gadgets and Turrets is perfectly fine? And the fact that we only have one good elite (Supply Crate)?

You can also say that we have lots of “intuitive builds”, but they all boil down to one of three things:

HGH
Static Discharge
Grenades

It might be better if they fixed all the bugs, such as turret scaling, but until then, the class is seriously in need of help.

This is what I’m seeing as well.

They made some minor bug fixes which makes it a bit more bearable but it’s far from being on par with what it was in PVE in headstart and it’s far from being useful.

There’s a ton of things wrong with the class that are simple design flaws that need to be addressed. I told them to hire someone from the military a weapons/explosives expert to give them pointers on just how destructive these weapons actually should be because they aren’t anywhere near that now! Haven’t been since they made nerfs way back last year long before the first grenade nerf!

pets are another story entirely, they are so weak and stupid they actually run off by themselves to aggro and attack everything in site even on passive and turrets are the weakest things around. How are we supposed to believe that my engineer doesn’t understand how to put wheels on the bottom of the turrets so they can follow me? Seriously? Especially as a Charr or an Asura!?

Doesn’t make any sense.

Unhappy with recent direction of GW2

I agree with everything you’ve said. and I’m a farmer! That’s all I do is go around in any game, gather, kill things for their stuff, and build! That’s all I like to do in game and even I know that this is too much of a grind. It’s sad that.

I’d love for more people to get involved in getting the word out sadly however most posts like yours get deleted for the false claim of not being constructive. (they don’t become constructive by being deleted before anyone can post to them)

The other thing to point out that 75% of the original playerbase is gone, most of which came on here in November and begged Anet not to go down this road with this game when they decided that Ascended is what people wanted or that Exotic wasn’t enough or that dungeons (fractals) should be where they place their focus for new exciting content or any kind of meaningful loot.

I don’t think there’s enough people left honestly to get their attention anymore because most people from headstart are gone, those that are left are watching intently to see where this goes, and we are far and few between because there are some here who just can’t leave well enough alone and stop advocating for the wrongs that are being done here.

So contrary to what they initially claimed (that Ascended was planned all along), Colin specifically states in that interview that Exotic WAS supposed to be final tier and Ascended was added because they underestimated how quickly people would get Exotic.

Ignoring the fact that people like being able to get max stat gear quickly so they then only have to worry about aesthetics, here we have proven that ArenaNet did outright LIE back in November, and that Ascended WASN’T planned prior to release.

It was proven back in November. It’s been restated time and time again, and pretty much anytime we’ve spoken out we’ve been attacked by the Anetbots about our credibility while they make strawman arguments.

Everyone knows the reason people play mmos is for projects, typically gear or cosmetics, when they knew they weren’t going to add cosmetics that we could get in game without spending a dime they decided to add gear. They knew that people would have a serious problem with them going back on their word and yet they ignored us.

I like you bought this game because it was supposed to be different. It wasn’t supposed to be like the rest, and I was highly disappointed only 2 months after release to see that instead of actually following thru they simply gave in to the people who aren’t even hear anymore. Most likely those who wanted the gear treadmill, the focus on dungeons, and the harder harder harder crowd aren’t even playing this game anymore, most of them that Anet listened to are gone, just as we predicted they would be. Meanwhile they continued down the path that scared off most of the serious long term players that would have stayed had they done what they promised in the first place. 75% of the original playerbase is gone, you can tell when you login anywhere in the game despite false claims to the contrary and all because of three things. Gear treadmill, class PVE imbalance, and the worst economy in any mmo in a long long time.

We’ll see what happens next. It’s like a reality TV show at this point.

Just look at his response to more gear down the road “I really hope not” “Guild Wars isn’t about being out there on this endless gear grind” wow, just wow. I noticed that Cantha wasn’t answered. hmmm “When you see those types of features in GW2 [Guild Halls] it’s not what’s been traditionally done” You mean like gear treadmills, or DR, or the wallet, or stats on gear?

The joke is on those who will actually try to get those ascended. Not me in any case. I’m done with GW2, as many people, but I did try to give it an honest chance after seeing all my headstart friends leave.

A growing story that I don’t think is going away despite the people who still insist that 460k is a proper success for an mmo.

Logged into my server every place I went had a tiny handful of people, even the main towns were dead and this was during peak hours. Can’t imagine where these 460k are located.

All I logged in for was to test out the newest changes to my class and to the loot system. The loot system looks like it’s received a small polish which is a good start but it simply won’t be enough I don’t think to help people reach their goals with the way they’ve done the enormous number of items needed to make the ascended weapons or gear.

They have to add these items to nodes as well so that people can gather a small portion of them to help offset the months that it’s literally going to take some people to reach these levels, they’ve forgotten 250 was too much and has added the larger 500.

What could help the acquisition of most of these materials easily like the T6 and the T7 would be to include those materials in nodes some players are gatherers crafters and explorers and never set foot doing some of the things other players would do. Thought that exploration and gathering were supposed to be one of the main focuses in this game, if you don’t have much from exploration and you get nothing from gathering as far as these mats go, then you cut off part of your playerbase. That’s just my opinion tho. Weird.

Good news is it looks like they might have found the glitch causing the loot problems or DR or whatever was happening with that because I just finished playing post patch and it was a completely different loot experience than this morning. I actually got loot from the mobs during three orr events and on the way to the final event I was shocked!

Aside from legendaries there’s still multiple issues with build diversity and with dps, it still takes three times as long on my engi to kill anything as it does on any other class. They fix all the bugs they want until the rework the damage ratios in PVE it’s still a problem for alot of people.

One of my friends stopped playing entirely because the only class he likes in the engineer and he noticed the ratios change dramatically right around level 50 where it suddenly becomes a chore to kill anything.

The legendary thing isn’t the only problem with kits and their backpacks, the whole backpack thing is messed up. We shouldn’t have them save for the cosmetic ones we add ourselves, there should be no backpack option easily.

if it takes your engi 3 times as long to kill something as another class, you are doing something very wrong

Funny you should mention that, I logged in after the patch discovered that the runes of traveler had the run speed on it and that gave me the number of points I needed to have the faster run speed AND all of the dps points I needed to make it so much easier to play now. Before 10 of my points always had to be in that confounded run speed boost because we lack the run speed bonus of our sister adventurer classes. That’s no longer the case now with this change.

Somethings did change however there’s still the problem of the condition damage nerfs lingering there. I’d hoped they’d fixed all of the trouble by now. Before I had switched to the toolbelt lightning pistol combo for quick damage bursts and it took forever to kill anything still does. Now I’m using the bombs and mines build with FT thrown in for some extra AOE travelers runes and a precision set seems to be working almost as well as the game did originally, almost.

As an engineer running at faster speeds has always been a problem and finding a runeset that improved speed was difficult, but I have to say that the new travelers stats are perfect for this problem. No Grind -- The Quote

Tried coming back today. Spent about two hours on the game. Not seeing the improved drops in the slightest. Guess they still haven’t fixed the problem with the Wi Flag loot issues. Hit DR like multiple times just like normal while trying to do events for the daily. Not only did mostly greys drop from mobs but half of them didn’t drop anything even when I went to another zone.

Doesn’t look like much has changed since last I was online. It was a typical waste of time.

So I gotta say if they can’t even fix something this simple why should I, a player, a customer, believe anything they say about what’s coming or how it will be an improvement? Why should I come back permanently when they still haven’t fixed one of the biggest issues for some of us, loot acquisition? Some of us can’t even grind because of this problem.

I asked this before in another thread, no dev answered of course. Asked if the T7 drops would be in any way affected by DR or the typical loot algorithm because it would be an even greater insult if one of us who is suffering this loot problem comes back to the game beats the NEW improved Teq and then gets the chest only to find that DR set in somehow and made the whole thing worthless.

No Grind -- The Quote

“Discuss and tell me how time-gating a new tier of weapons and gear that has better stats obeys what Mike O’Brien said in his quote.”

Simple answer. It doesn’t. It didn’t in November 2012 and it doesn’t in 2013. The fact that the majority can’t seem to see that changes nothing.

By making the game all about the economy that doesn’t yield proper returns they’ve basically turned this game into a grind fest. Everyone is so concerned about getting enough gold to do anything in the game that whole events have been turned upside down into farm fests.

They propose changing the drops to events completed but that won’t solve the problem because we’re still grinding to complete yet another tier of gear crafting. They claim this will be it, but they also claimed it wouldn’t be a grind, and here we are.

My question is why should I believe anything they say?

This isn’t hard to deal with. If an event is prolonged for too long, loot should be severely degraded, possibly even to nothing. This allows farming without abusing it to make it the sole goal and make it so that winning is more important and is consistent with Anet’s stances towards loot in general.

Furthermore, the chest at the end of the event shouldn’t be gated or restricted at all. Though will you object to people speedrunning these things?

This was one of the core problems. All chests were affected by DR when I was playing. It’s seriously sad when you get to the boss chest and there’s chump change in there and some greens.

Community Going Downhill?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: tigirius.9014

tigirius.9014

It’s a huge testament to Anet’s design flaw. It’s backfired on them. They wanted to force people into groups to get anything, so now people roam around in groups just for farming items. They wanted to squeeze blood from a turnip in the economy, so now people are worried about getting enough gold all the time. They made the game all about grinding materials that can be sold (250 of this 250 of that) and made those items almost impossible to get solo, so now people are just playing to farm all the time.

I don’t see it changing anytime soon. I left in disgust because of this and make no mistake it’s not the community, they are just reacting to the design flaws inherent in the game’s economy. You don’t see this in other titles.

If it didn’t cost so much to do anything in this game it wouldn’t be a problem. If I didn’t have to spend gobs of gold to get a great DPS setup for my toon, it wouldn’t be a problem. If I could actually get the materials I need without emptying out my wallet every time just to make it it wouldn’t be a problem.

I long for the day when they change the focus of the game so that it’s not all about farming for gold every minute or for resources and what’s coming down the road for crafting is simply an insult to crafters everywhere who’ve already spent the time getting that last mile to 400.
