Hopefully the dungeon sections are split between at least story and explorable. Would be nice if the paths were split up as well. (Didn’t see them open the individual dungeons one in the 18min preview video). At least now I (hopefully) won’t have to keep going to gw2lfg, and have problems refreshing it.

The dungeons category has separate filters for each dungeon. The descriptions field is provided so that you can specify story or path information for the party you’re forming/looking for.

There isn’t a separate filter for story and explorable mode like the website? O_o
This is going to be a bit problematic. I remember trying to buy stuff in GW1 and looking through the list. That was pretty horrible, this sounds like it will be similar.

Hell, WoW has a fantastic LFG system and has done for years
(and yes that is the only thing I genuinely like about WoW)

And it only happened at the end of the 2nd expansion. I quit wow because of what the lfg did to the community, but thankfully gw2s isn’t an auto group finder / teleport into dungeons.

I had a lot of reasons for quitting WoW but the LFG tool wasn’t one of them. I find the idea that someone quit a game over the LFG tool to be pretty hilarious honestly.

They are not high enough currently, agreed and we will be making changes to the rank-up chests to make them significantly more rewarding.

You said that there won’t be any changes to WvW after the season starts, so will these changes be before then or will be have to wait 7 months for this?

GvGs will still exist. There are areas in which the Bloodlust buff won’t apply, as well as the possibility of guilds playing interference to stop the buff from appearing during the match. It’ll be more difficult, but the scene will still exist. It’s a pity that the devs are trying so hard to strangle the GvG community (scnd vs VII gvg stream had over 1k viewers), but that’s another argument for another thread.

I haven’t seen any confirmations that there are areas that Bloodlust won’t apply, and interference probably won’t help. Point being, there is no point in wasting my ascended gear on a GvG set given that GvG is going to be taking a huge hit next month if it doesn’t go away entirely. I’ll just build an exotic GvG set. The ascended build is pretty much going to be whatever I plan to run most of the time.

Yeh TC is in a horrible place. All matchups we get a horrible and boring. That isn’t Anets fault because a good matchup simply doesn’t exist at the moment. I do like TC, but I am not so attached that I’ll tolerate being bored to death for to much longer. I think that the winner of League 2 is going to be inflated with players, and maybe that server will be a good match for TC and Season 2. However, Season 1 is going to be a bust for us.

I’d look into Celestial accessories if I were you. You’re missing a lot of potential by neutering your Healing Power that badly. Here’s what I hit with my stat combo:

2900 Attack (w/ Sharpening Stone, no might)
22% Crit Chance
62% Crit Damage
3100 Armor
21k HP (20k base; 22k w/ food active; 24.5 w/ guard stacks)
700-860 Healing Power depending on my active weapon

I like your stat distrib; too many people run 30 virtues when you really only need 1. Neutered self-sustain, too.

Empowering Might isn’t as useful as Two-Handed Mastery, unless multiple guardians are traited for it (my personal opinion).

My dodge rolls heal for 1k a pop and book 1 spam for even more. You’re hurting yourself if you don’t look into healing power.

On-kill sigils should be used in open-world WvW zergfest bonanzas, but never, ever bring that to a GvG or any small-scale fight where you know the enemy won’t be dropping like it’s hot. Go for Fire or Energy in those cases.

Edit:

Something else I forgot to mention. GS/Hammer is usually only taken if you’re planning on running with Judge’s Intervention in order to catch the enemy and prep for a bomb. GS/Staff is better and more general, in my opinion. Although I don’t really know the level of organization the group you run with typically displays.

Which server are you on?

I do have a full exotic clerics set of armor for when I want to heal, although this build is more about eeking out as much damage and survivability as I can with my ascended items. Though, it is worth considering trading off some of the crit and crit damage for healing power. Given that do know that the 1 to 1 heal scaling on Selfless Daring is very good once your healing power reaches a point.

As far as the traits and weapon choices go, I didn’t really focus on filling that stuff in on the build because it changes a lot. I have something like 4 full exotic gear sets on the bank. I run with Staff/Hammer, Staff/GS, or Hammer/GS. Staff/GS is what I run when im pugging because of the swiftness and the leap, because pugs don’t group swiftness very well on my server. For the third utility slot I either run judge’s intervention or signet of judgement depending on what group I am running with and what I am trying to accomplish. My trait/weapon/skill setup typically changes around depending on what I am doing ,who I am running with, and who are we going against.

As far as GvGs go, I am not really worried about that. Given that GvGs are going away next month, I am not really building my ascended set for those. However, I do have a an exotic GvG set of weapons. I run sigils of fire when GvGing.

I play on Tarnished Coast ATM, although I am seriously considering hopping down toward the middle of League 2. League 1 isn’t going to be very much fun. I feel like League 2 is going to be very competitive. On TC we don’t ever get good matchups anymore. We either blow people out or get blown out. We haven’t had an actual close score in a very long time.

So you’re okay with the WvW game being about gear and stat advantages, rather than skill or fun? Good to know that I will be at a continual disadvantage in WvW because I refuse to grind for gear. I specifically came to this game to avoid gear grinds.

Assuming they were still together, you could go and get your whole 50 man group in ascendeds and 20 RG in greens would still wipe you. WvW is not about gear and ascended gear does not make it about gear.

But I find it silly how much people have already invested in t5/6 cloth/leather. Everyone is so eager to flip them before we get ascended armor recipies. ^^

As it stands, you get a much better output from spamming CoF and dragons than playing WvW.

why we wont see a useful outnumbered buff:

scenario — player enters map where his server has outnumbered. server loses outnumbered. other players harass him to leave so server can be stronger.

Correct. The idea behind the buff is to incentivize you to show up even if you are outnumbered by pulling out some of the disincentive for losing a lot, but if we put anything too good on it, it will cause serious problems between players. We don’t want it to be something that people fight over, harass each other over, or generally cause a worse play experience because someone takes away the buff because it is our goal for the maps to be full and for no one to have the buff.

People already harass each other over enough stuff. Whether it be builds, what profession they are running, what food they are running, and so on. I’d suggest removing the idea of controlling that from consideration when making these decisions.

I don’t see why you people are so against just getting the gear for yourselves if you think a few stat points will make that big of a difference. I already have more dragonite ore and emyreal shards than I know what to do with JUST from doing wvw. Flip a few camps and towers. Believe it or not you can get it faster in wvw than you can waiting around for some stupid dragon to spawn in PvE. just flip towers, keep them paper, and flip them back again when they inevitably take it back. I guess that’s the only good thing that’s come out of us facing a mega zerg this match up. we cant hold anything so we just keep flipping towers and keeps. in just a couple days I have 2 stacks of dragonite ore and empyreal shards.

It isn’t about getting it for themselves. They want you not to be able to have it. The people supporting this thread seem to be more about limiting other people.

Each exotic gives you 24028*1.85*(1-(craft_level-400)/250 craft experience. *1.5 if just crit, *2 if just discovery, *2.5 if discovery + crit.

I don’t really even want to count how long it will take to equip my 9 lvl 80’s. Dragonite isn’t the problem, the Empyreal Shards are my personal grief.

And this is just weapons. Soon they all want new armor too…

It definitely wouldn’t be so daunting if Empyreal shards were easier to come by. I did nearly more CoF than I can stomach to get the first ascneded. It’s going to be a while before I gather the willpower to make another one.

Well ascended gear is meant to be slow to acquire. If they were available via badges, which are very easy to acquire, that would defeat the purpose of ascended gear.

I would allow some select few of the mats to be acquired with badges….. a lot of badges.

As it stands you can go and siege a fully ac’d hills for 45 minutes and finally take it and you’ll get like 5 mats. You can go easy mode the shatterer in blazeridge for 3 minutes and get almost triple or quadruple that.

I think that the amount of mats you get should be based on upgrades. For example, if you take a fully upgraded hills, you should get no less than 60 mats. Partially upgraded hills, no less than 40.

So I am getting ready to buy 7 pieces of ascended gear, but I want to make sure the stats I am going for work first since swapping around ascended stuff is a little bit more complicated than swapping around exotic stuff.

This build is designed for a guardian that will primarily be running frontline in WvW with and against groups no smaller than 25-40. Do you guys have any suggestions on the stat work up? The primary focus here is the stat setup not the traits and stuff.

As a “PvE grinder”, I’d like to proclaim that WvW is an extension of the PvE game as a whole. It’s basically the “Open world PvP” that other games have, but without all the ganking and interruption mid-mob kill. However, gear and stats still make it into equitation just as it would in OWPvP like other games. In other words: just deal with it. :P

You grinders were supposed to be able to enjoy your preferred methods of play without forcing others to do the same to keep up stat-wise, though.

How sad that you are the ones who prevailed.

And yet, you are wrong. I’ve been in WvW for the past week and have collected hundreds of Ascended crafting materials. These are dropped from Champions, which incidentally every Keep, Tower, and Camp has at least one mob that fits the classification. Each home-borderland had an array of crafting stations to use. 1+1= fun on a bun. Get it? Yes, I’m essentially stating that you’re able to do a large portion of Ascended via WvWvW. Get to it.

I disagree with this thread, however you are wrong. It is much more time effective to go spam cof and afk auto attack dragons to get those mats. The availability of the mats should be increased in WvW. If you go hard, you can have what you need to make an ascended weapon in 2 days in PVE. It’s going to be a few weeks if you try to get the mats from WvW alone.

I’ve made a ascended a hundred is really only a drop in the barrel given that you need 500.

Thats why i suggested doing something like this instead of the crap way they implemented pvp, merg wvw/pvp and make them both better by doing this…

Make WvW and PvP alike, but… Using the PvP armor and weapon purchase systems and traiting systems.

- Upon entering WvW or PvP for the first time, youre prompted to see an armor and weaponsmith to purchase armor/trinkets and weapons.

- Every class has the option to buy their professions armor tier(light, medium, heavy) with max level 80 BASE armor rating for your tier(light, medium, heavy). The same goes for weapons and level 80 BASE weapon dmg.

- Your also prompted to purchase your choice of runes and sigils.

- After buying your armor/trinkets and weapons, youre now prompted to go into your inventory and go to each piece of armor/trinkets and weapons.

- You now just have to right click on all your armor/trinket and weapons and select your desired stats from all of the current stat pool sets.

I think mixing in some of the great things about PvP into WvW and also letting us keep our PvE stats not at the cost of having to worry about HC players being able to outgear casual players is the best way to go around it. I like the fact that PvP comes down to a players skills(mostly). I think they need to carry that over into general WvW to keep everyone on the same tier and make it depend on your zergs and skill, rather than gear.

Keep ascended gear in the game for the players who wish to grind for it and acquire it. But keep it in PvE only…

And to make the gear skins obtainable and fun to get do something like this…

That’s why I like the idea that pvp has with letting you use the forge to make your armors and what not. But I think they could revamp the entire system and let ppl earn their choice of armor and weapon skins by completing set achievements in wvw and pvp.

You want your cultural armor in wvw…

- Take 1,000 keeps for your chest slot

- Take 1,000 supply camps for your leg slot

- Take 300 guard spots for your glove slot

- Kill 300 yaks for your boot slot

- Complete 200 faction events for head slot

Etc etc… Same thing with pvp but with captures and kills and what not. Give ppl something to achieve in order to unlock armor and weapon skins. Not just grinding for gold or drops. But doing things that are helpful and beneficial to your team or server and giving you said rewards for doing so.

Sounds good. I prefer the non-vacuum version of WvW. I don’t want it to be reduced to just skins like SPvP.

However, the one portion of you idea I agree with is making it easier to obtain top tier guild from WvW only. I would be all for increasing the ability to obtain gear from WvW. You can get a lot more of the new ascended mats from afk auto attacking dragons and easy moding through cof path 1 than you can from WvW. That should change.

I will say that 400-500 is rather on the high end if you plan to pay your way up quickly. However, you could farm it without to much of an issue. Just go to one of the popular orr node tracking sites and get started.

I think it is worth moving to a silver leauge server. People gripe and complain about the league thing, but the silver league is going to be really interesting and competitive.

I play on TC and I am really considering making the move, because gold league will be pretty predictable/not-competitive.

Dragon Rework Idea

Make dragons work like the clockwork chaos events. Streamline all of the dragon events across all servers so that they trigger at the same time. Then have the overflows to also trigger the dragon event at the same time. Basically, do it the exact same way that the clockwork chaos stuff was done. That worked out extremely well if you guys didn’t notice.

This will reduce lag and allow more players to be able to participate.

This strongly implies that it will be worked into the Living Story, with lore and dialogue and whole shebang. I expect we’ll see Braham and Rox, at the very least.

Hopefully. I like a whole lot of stuff about Gw2, which explains why I’ve been playing is regularly since launch. However, the story blows. I really want them to do some stuff with the story to make it more compelling.

If it’s really a 10% increase, then I guess I got my answer. This game is turning into a gear grind.

Apparently you’ve never played a game that is a gear grind if you consider Gw2 to be anywhere near a gear grind.

Typically a gear grind game completely locks you out of content if you don’t meet certain levels of gear. Gw2 doesn’t have that. Gear and a proper build does make things easier, but you can do all content in greens/exotics and some even in blues. Heck, you don’t even have to be max level to finish most of the dungeons in Gw2.

The game is very casual as far as gear grinding goes.

No, it doesn’t lock me out but it puts me at a continuous disadvantage in an environment which is supposed to be about skill.

I could put on a bunch of greens and do excel just about anywhere including WvW. I might just make a video of it at some point.

Again, you have never played a true gear grinding game if you think GW2 is becoming a gear grinding game. In a true gear grinding game, ascended gear would completely make exotic gear obsolete. However, in Gw2, exotic gear performs only marginally worse than ascended gear.

Basically, you guys are just mad because every thing isn’t handed to you on a silver platter at login. GW2’s gear progression is very casual. You can attain a level of gear that puts you on a level to complete all parts of the game with relative ease in a couple of days after reaching 80. A true gear grinding game has you waiting for raids to reset once a week before you can get elite gear, and there is certain content that you simply can’t do without said gear.

In other games new gear tiers means a higher level cap introduction, higher level cap zones, and generally higher level cap “end game” content.

In GW2 adding the marginal boost to stats of Ascended gear was to avoid significant content additions or adjustments to balance natively higher character power levels. In short it was a cop-out and justified with bull&$@! that contradicts the design goal of high end gear differing in appearance alone, something both Mike and Colin went on the record about.

Fact is if someone in the MMO majority of witless grinders puts time into getting something rare they feel entitled to it being better than everything else. This is a fact and ANet’s hand was forced by the market. MMOs are a reflections of their players.

Me and many people simply have a different value on things than you. It is precisely the reason I don’t and won’t ever have a legendary. I find that I am not attracted to spending significant amounts of time and effort to obtain a weapon that has no functional difference from something I could just buy from a vendor.

IMO, they should balance it to accommodate everyone, which they have done as far as possible. There is gear progression for people that like it, however the game content is balanced to be able to be completed by someone that doesn’t care to participate in the gear progression.

What they shouldn’t do is remove stuff or not do stuff because select people like yourself don’t want to do it. They should continue to balance things so that you don’t have to do it to compete, but those that want to do it can.

I challenge you to find one part of the game that you need ascended gear to complete.

As far as NA goes, I think that league two is going to be quite competitive. League one, however, isn’t worth being in. I am tempted to move down to a league two server because I think it isn’t going to be bad at all in league 2.

you’ve almost won a 2v1/3v1 and an upleveled guy runs in for the stomp just to give rallies.

That’s the only “you mad” moment I’ve ever experienced in GW2. That is just infuriating. It’s hard enough winning against multiple people with just rares. Then to see some guy worried about loot run in like that.

I’m venting here because I’m fairly certain some of you know exactly how I feel. I wish they would just remove the “downed state” from wvw. It’s a great idea in PvE, because it’s kind of heroic I guess.

Another “you mad” moment is when uplevels enter WvW on reset night. Honestly, if someone wants to bring their uplevel in at any other time, I don’t care. However, I just find it to be a new level of selfish to spam the portals with an uplevel to get in for reset.

Apparently you’ve never played a game that is a gear grind if you consider Gw2 to be anywhere near a gear grind.

Typically a gear grind game completely locks you out of content if you don’t meet certain levels of gear. Gw2 doesn’t have that. Gear and a proper build does make things easier, but you can do all content in greens/exotics and some even in blues. Heck, you don’t even have to be max level to finish most of the dungeons in Gw2.

The game is very casual as far as gear grinding goes.

No, it doesn’t lock me out but it puts me at a continuous disadvantage in an environment which is supposed to be about skill.

I could put on a bunch of greens and excel just about anywhere including WvW. I might just make a video of it at some point.

Again, you have never played a true gear grinding game if you think GW2 is becoming a gear grinding game. In a true gear grinding game, ascended gear would completely make exotic gear obsolete. However, in Gw2, exotic gear performs only marginally worse than ascended gear.

Basically, you guys are just mad because every thing isn’t handed to you on a silver platter at login. GW2’s gear progression is very casual. You can attain a level of gear that puts you on a level to complete all parts of the game with relative ease in a couple of days after reaching 80. A true gear grinding game has you waiting for raids to reset once a week before you can get elite gear, and there is certain content that you simply can’t do without said gear. As it stands, you should be able to complete every piece of Gw2 content(world bosses, dungeons, exp dungeons, wvw, map completion, ect) with greens.

I vote yes. I don’t have an issue with bloodlust. In fact, I like the idea of adding new features to WvW to make things different.

Although, if it were me, I’d create safe zones in the typical GvG areas(like behind south camp) for GvGs. The safe zones would simply be unaffected by the buff.
