Free Transfers!

timidobserver.7925

Tired of the current state of your WvW?

Want to move to a new server but can’t afford it, and you also enjoy WvW?

Well get ready…

-

All transfers to the rank 13, 14 and 15 servers (exact servers to be announced) will be FREE before WvW Season 2.

So everyone get your mouses ready and topple Silver League! The prizes at the top of the Silver League will be the same for those in Gold and Bronze.

And all three of those servers (whichever they end up being) will likely be where all the good fights in Silver League will be coming from.

If you are on a server you are wanting to transfer away from. Good money (free) says this is where you will want to be.

Good luck SBI/BP and DB or possibly FA. The horde is coming for you, and their transfers will be strong.

Free isn’t good enough. You’ll have to actually pay me to transfer to those servers.

Implement a mercenary system or something.

I disagree. Refer to previous post on page 3. 99.9% of all entertainment “highlights” straight couples. I do not, personally, see it as blatantly political.

Oh, I think you misunderstood. I didn’t say that you saw it is political. I said that I do.

Fair enough. Do you care to expound upon why this example is political and the majority of all other existing entertainment is not?

I also don’t think I said anything about the majority of all existing entertainment. I cannot comment on all other entertainment because it comes down to what exists in the story. If a story has homosexual and heterosexual romance, and the writers/developers choose to only highlight one side, it is political or at least looks political.

I cannot say what “All” other stories have. If there is no homosexual romance in the story then it cannot be highlighted, and vice versa. However, GW2 is the topic at hand, I do happen to know that GW2 has both available.

Honestly, it comes off at blatantly political to me. I think it would be good for diversity to have a mixture of different types of relationships. Guy Girl, Guy Guy, Girl Girl. However, when only gay relationships are being highlighted, it starts to look political.

Pretty easy. There are unpleasant people everywhere, but there does happen to be a great deal of pleasant people on TC.

Also, TC is capable of competing in T1 if they could get coverage.

To ppl that asked for vertical progression...

timidobserver.7925

I’m curious to know if you, the people that asked for vertical progression/gear grind/carrot on a stick, are happy with Ascended gear being added to the game. Is this what you were after? Are you now satisfied? Or are you disappointed? Are you now craving the next level of grind/progression/carrot chasing? Or have you already returned to whatever game it is you came from?

I’d really like to know if this was really worth damaging the game for me and many others.

Those that say Vertical Progression is necessary for a games longevity, then how do you explain successful games such as LoL, DOTA 2, GW1, DAY Z and TF2 (currently 10 x more popular than Planteside 2, even after over 6 years.) all thriving with little to no vertical progression?

Sounds like someone is mad, but I’ll respond to your questions anyway.

Yes, I am pleased that vertical progression was added to the game. I was definitely not happy with GW2 only catering to the cosmetics monkeys that made Anet millions last year by falling into the “you must buy the new rare cosmetic item every 2 weeks” cash-shop trap for suckers. It is a good thing that content is being added to the game for non-cosmetics carebears.

I am sorry(not really) if it damages the game for you. You have the option not to participate since Exotics are more than viable. Unlike every single other MMO that has done vertical progression, the gap between Exotic and Ascended is negligible as far as viability goes.

Anyway, go have fun tossing Anet your money for the new cash shop item that came out this weeks. I’ll be making my ascended at not $$$ cost to me.

is "Stacking" the new "Tanking"?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

timidobserver.7925

Really, the trinity didn’t disappear – it was simply replaced. It’s not “stacking” it’s… crowdtanking.

The issue is that so many people were b—hurt by WoW, that they are frantic to bash anything that is even remotely similar. That leaves MMO designers replacing “WoW Mechanics” with anything different even if not better.

Trinity existed long before WoW. In fact, it existed long before first MMORPG, back when all we had were pen & paper MMO. It was intentionally removed in GW2 not because of WoW, but as a consequence of devs aiming for more action-oriented combat and soloability.

It didn’t work as well as intended, of course (it achieved the main goals, but only at a price of introducing many other, unwanted problems), but that is another story.

You see, this is an example of people being overly b—hurt by WoW. I say nothing about when Trinity came into existance, but this guy feels the need to argue about it because I mentioned WoW. No, WoW didn’t invent trinity, but it is the most well known and successful MMO that uses Trinity.

This mentality is why devs are replacing traditional systems with systems that aren’t necessarily better. The goal is to avoid the hordes of people that are b—hurt about WoW, not come up with better ways of doing things. I’d like to see more focus placed on coming up with actually better ways to do things, rather than just throwing together anything that is different enough to avoid comparisons.

The overflow world boss method is a poor replacement for raid content. Stacking is a poor replacement for tanking.

never played wow. I enjoy the game a lot more because it isnt trinity. Trinity is more boring because it pigeonholes proffesions into one task. Having to DPS, support, defend, heal is more entertaining to me than just doing one thing.

I think you missed the point. The point was not to defend the trinity system. It was to say that GW2 could have come up with something better to replace tanking with than stacking.

Slightly exaggerated experience but this has been my experience quite often. Lots of standing around waiting to get going.

You still need to find a new guild. Preferably one with enough bodies that they don’t have to stand around for an hour getting professions squared away.

My guild is typically ready to move out within 1 to 2 minutes, and no one is ever kicked because of mistakes made.

Rewards still based on server ranking/coverage/stacking.
You’ll be able to get your meta done in EOTM (so no worries about not being able to get into real WvW, just go to a rank 1 server).

I know A-net wants to monetize WvW but doing this to get server transfer $ is not the right way to go about it. This sort of thing actually harms WvW by stacking higher ranked server even more to get better rewards. Instead make cash shop items that appeal to WvWers. For example… an item that auto consumed food/oil when it ran out would sell like crazy to WvWers for example.

You should be rewarded based on the amount you participate/achieve yourself. Not on how well the server you’re on does.

Anet’s profits recently came out and they are making a killing. I wonder what percentage of it was server swapping.

Wow, some of you guys are really tagging the heck out of that cash shop. They are making an insane amount of money.

Not everybody is able to handle money. Anet uses some tactics to get people to buy gems. Make everything a grind to get people to buy gems and put items in the cash-shop temporary so they buy it before it’s gone, RNG for those with gambling problems.

Just marketing tricks and some people easily fall for it.

Yeh, I have a few friends to quit because they got tired of the game being turned into one big marketing scheme. For a year there wasn’t a single piece of decent permanent content added to this game. It was all temporary content meant to trick people into buying the “new rare” item before it was gone after 2 weeks.

GW2 Heroes

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: timidobserver.7925

timidobserver.7925

I play solo, almost exclusively, as do a vast number of players in GW2. Given the difficulties in forming groups, it would be great if Anet would gives us heroes. They would be from the characters we have created. They could be designated for pve only. This would allow players to be “good to go”, instead of waiting long periods for group formation to complete. Delays in group forming for guild members are issues too at times. Being a “guildie” doesn’t guarantee that others will be interested in your game plan plan and come to your assistance. LOL, and heroes don’t talk back.

MMO = Massively Multiplayer Online. Being anti-social and playing solo is your choice, but the MMO portion is where the development focus should be.

I just love these "guild raids"

in WvW

Posted by: timidobserver.7925

timidobserver.7925

I’ve been on a couple of guilds now that have this thing called “guild raid” on WvW borderlands.

“Everyone get on TS”, “Which TS?”, “Our own TS.”
“Everyone needs to have microphone to join and xxKIdxxx stop playing music on backround please.”

Then about 7 people show up on borderlands and start afk’ing at spawn for good part of hour waiting for their buddies to show up. Once the number is about 15 it’s time to get inventory of professions and what equipment everyone is wearing. There’s debates about builds and what order every skill is used. The guild may have commander in it, but he doesn’t turn the tag on because some smelly PUGs might join the guild raid and that would diminish the glory.

“Alright, looks like we’re set.”
The 15-man guild group ventures out and meets enemy 25-35 man PUG group with commander leading it. The wipe is real.

“OMG you guys suck! Didn’t I just tell you what field you need to put down! Why don’t you stick up with me?”
2 players kicked from guild.
Raid over.

Sounds like you need to find a new guild. The one your describe above is slightly more elitist than is good.

I actually don’t have an issue with the new Tournament. It looks better thought out than Season 1. My only gripe is that the rewards should scale based on participation. In other words, the more you participate the more of a reward you get. It shouldn’t be a flat reward for meeting some flat achievement.

Why does the GW2 Playerbase ignore orders?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: timidobserver.7925

timidobserver.7925

It should be very easy for you to understand.
1. You keep trying to wurm and you keep failing for a variety of reasons.
2. You’ve decided that other players not listening is the primary reason.

Solution A: Find a way to get other players to listen.
Solution B: Abandon those players in favor of grouping together your guild and friends into an overflow.

Solution B = more efficient.

Only if your assumption (point 2) is actually true. And only if an additional assumption you did silently make, but didn’t specify here (“other players not listening to me is not my failure as a leader, but 100% their fault”) is true as well.
By my experience that last assumption is usually false.

Hint: knowing what to do (and having a blue dorito) doesn’t make you a good leader. Being able to persuade people to listen to you however does.

Nope, my solution solves the problem regardless of all other factors. This is why TTS is such a massive and popular guild. Gathering a group of people that are willing to listen is the solution.

Regardless of whose fault it is, going into a private overflow = win.

Purposeful severing of ties to GW1?

For GW1 players LA was a special place. It took us from concern only about Ascalon to the big world. It was the port to New Lands. We got involved with its politics, its very survival. It was a special place.

And now it will be destroyed. To me, it seems like a final nail in the coffin of GW1 and its relationship to this game and story.

It is a sad ending to a great city that survived so much, only to be finally undone by a second rate villian with a contrived plotline unrelated to former Tyrian lore.

The last vestige of the old game. This is more of an exorcism than a living story.

Um, okay. Bye.

Yup, Warriors and Guardians are completely out of control. Far too much utility and variety was given to these classes while next to nothing has been given to others.

I play my guardian because, with appropriate dodging of your hammer train or aoe bomb, I can survive in the center of your zerg. I find that most other professions cannot do this, nor should they be able to. This allows me to be a first line while the squishies behind me nuke you.

The major appeal is survival not variety or utility. In fact, guardian doesn’t have very much variety. Just about every zerg build is probably 0/0/30/30/10 or 0/0/10/30/30 or something very similar with 5-15 points sprinkled somewhere else as a personal preference.

If you look through the guardian forums, you’ll see that most guardians have lack of variety as a major complaint.

Also, it makes sense that a profession titled “guardian” should have enhanced survival.

Yup, Warriors and Guardians are completely out of control. Far too much utility and variety was given to these classes while next to nothing has been given to others. Hell, the entire medium armor segment may as well not even exist outside of roaming right now.

Game lacks any direction or focus and I have no faith in ANet getting it turned around. I mean check out ANet’s responses to the Ranger forum… glaring class issues that have been an issue since day 1 aren’t even on their radar and they have no interest in fixing anything but low hanging fruit in which the class has none.

I’ve got my Warrior I run with now and will have my guardian to 80 by the time the December patch comes around to nerf Warriors (which is just going to move more over to condi/regen as opposed to hammer/crit builds which is just as op.

Warrior, Guardian, Necro, or bust is the name of the game.

Watched a ranger outplay a warrior yesterday 1v1, drained him dry. No “OP” was called from either side.

Also see mesmers and thieves school warriors in 1v1 all day long like its noones business.

That is the trade off. Those classes are very good at running around ganking and soloing. Warriors and Guardians excel at group activity.

Take champs out of Low lvl Areas!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: timidobserver.7925

timidobserver.7925

I for one am very against the zerg that runs in low lvl areas. I personally play on Anvil Rock. I love most of the people in the server and have some great friends in the server. But I feel that the low lvl zerg is killing our server. For some reason the only zerg that runs is in Queensdale. This has created a huge problem. unfortunately it is becoming more apparent every day that new players are coming into game and just leveling all the way to 80 by running the champ train in queensdale. It is easy to see because of the lack of skill at playing the character class they are. Our WvW is suffering because of it. Not to mention our lack of ability to actually complete hard bosses such as taquil.

While in GW2 each class is viable on its own for the most part, they do have differences that come into effect in dungeons and bosses. We are now left with a considerable amount of people who don’t fill there role in groups.

I have personally tried to get the train going in frost gorge quite a few times. But since queensdale is the norm on Anvil Rock its just a losing battle. Everyone wants to just lvl from 2-80 in queensdale zerg.

I am not trying to speak ill of the people of Anvil Rock, but i believe our server is just going down hill and the queensdale zerg is the cause.

My idea for solution would be. Maybe only have Champs in HIGH LVL zones. Like maybe only lvl 70+ zones. This way it atleast makes people learn to play there character instead of just riding the zerg all the way to 80. I see no reason for the champs in the low lvl zones. At very least make it a complete random spawn on champs there. Like have it to where they could actually spawn ANYWHERE in queensdale instead of same spot each time.

I am just frustrated, I like my server and my friends in it and dont want to move. But I feel like Anvil Rock has just lowered its standards and is filling up with zerg babies.

What are your guys thought on this and do you see any fixes for it?

My thought is that you should do what you wand and let others do what they want. They can champ train and you can avoid it. Problem solved.

I hopped into a Wurm event and all of the talk was about making sure you’re running meta spec. All members of each class running the same builds and using the same skills in an event, not a dungeon. This is a very bad trend IMO and so I just left. Guild Wars 2 had lofty goals pre launch, and said all of the right things, but has become a game filled with rigid adherence to clone builds. Play the game the way you want to play it seems a distant memory.

This guy is why no one can finish it. Everybody wants to do their own thing. Playing a certain way in order to help the group finish the event is an alien concept.

Nobody is asking you to change how you play your toon forever. Just do what needs to be done for the 15 minutes that it takes to finish the event.

I already came up with a real solution. Gather a group of those that will listen, get into voice coms, and do what you say. Go away from pugs, and finish the content.

That is the only solution that a player can implement. Players have no control over other players. They do have a small amount of control over who they do the event with.

Any true solution would have to be introduced by Anet.

Okay, so what is your definition for completing content? What prevents completion? what are some examples of incomplete content and what factors do you think contributed to each event?

Definition = when the little event completed dialog comes up and the chest pops up on your screen.

Example of incomplete content = When the event failed dialog pops up.

The factors are pretty irrelevant. All that matters is finding an efficient way to solve the problem of being unable to complete the event.

Uncooperative players is just one thing that contributes to the problem. The key problem is being unable to complete the content.

The solution consists of the most efficient ways to go about completing the content.

Please don’t pick up kegs. At least half the people ignore you and pick up kegs.
Please range Warden 3. One platform always wipes because they melee.
So on and so forth.

Why do players in this game have such a problem listening to orders? In games such as Eve Online, if a Commander tells you to do something people actually listen.

Because GW2 is a game for casuals and people that do whatever they want to do. Start a guild and annex an overflow for your guild. Don’t bother trying to pug content that requires a large amount of coordination.

This is an excellent way to make the situation worse in the long term.

What is the problem? There are communication issues regarding coordination of player actions in large groups.

How do you fix that problem? I can tell you hiding in an overflow will not fix that problem.

This leaves us with the question, are we okay with the status quo? Do we want to hide
from each other out of fear?

No, the issue is being unable to finish the wurm due to uncooperative players.

Taking a group of players that will listen and get into voice coms to an overflow is the perfect solution to the problem.

This game was sold on player freedom and casual play. Players were sold on the idea of being able to login and do what they want to do without joining some raid group and following some guy’s orders.

So, the majority of the players prefer to do their own random thing, and thus, open world raids won’t work because GW2 players have been conditioned from launch to expect easy content that they can random button press their way through.

Because GW2 is a game for casuals and people that do whatever they want to do. Start a guild and annex an overflow for your guild. Don’t bother trying to pug content that requires a large amount of coordination.

Was there a patch or a bug that makes toughness not as effective as it was 3 months ago?

No, with ascended gear people are simply capable of min maxing a more damage stats than they were 3 months ago.

We will be removing all rank requirements for the Gift of Battle in the February 18th build and further evaluate what those requirements will be. We do not currently have an ETA for when rank requirements will be reinstated.

Nice, can you remove the PVE requirements from stuff for WvW players?

Rank 30 WvW Required for Gift of Battle Grind

In my opinion, this would actually be a perfect example of a ‘grind’.

I am well over level 30, so I am not affected by this change. Thus my argument is purely for the sake of new players, and to eliminate a change that really adds no value to the game.

Asking players, who may not enjoy WvW, to earn enough Badges of Honor was already seen as a ‘grind’ for such players and was offset by including Badges of Honor as a part of the Achievement Chest Rewards.

Having ‘solved’ this problem, you have now chosen to make WvW once again compulsory in the process of crafting a legendary, which not to mention has not been the case for all those who have recently crafted them, and thus is rather unfair.

I understand that you are trying to urge more players to move to WvW, as this is where players are able to create more interest in the game rather than the developers having to come up with content at a ridiculous pace, and I am not complaining about that, it is one solution.

However, there are plenty of others, such as not completely throwing away dungeons after their patch, and perhaps involving them in a different aspect of the game, as you have done with the new Fractals.

Again, I do not wish to offend anybody, and do not want to create any arguments, I am purely stating my observations of what could be a rather depressing, non-value adding burden to be placed on new players wishing to create their first legendary, which as well already know is a process that has been made much longer given the comparative lack of Karma that we are now able to obtain.

Kind regards,

Edward

For all of the PVE crap that primary WvW players have to go through to get a legendary or ascended armor, I don’t think that WvW rank 30 is too much to ask of PVErs.
