Some tangible updates will get me playing GW2 again. Stuff like guild halls and housing wouldn’t really do it. I’ve always hated housing systems like in LOTRO.
By tangible I mean permanent new story areas, new professions, new weapons, new abilities, ect. You know, the kind of stuff that you typically see in an expansion.
My points:
-I am tired of cosmetics hunting being the go to method of horizontal progression. I know there a large portion of the GW2 playerbase are the type of player that would be entirely satisfied with this game if they have a new skin to hunt down every two weeks, but I am not that player. I am a fan of functional rewards not rewards that look different but function the same.
- I would like to see new elements like new professions, races, skills, elites, and weapons. I think that skills, weapons, and trait progression are one huge area that Anet should focus on. Progression in this area allows them to avoid the gear treadmill which so many GW2 players seem to hate. The new skills, weapons, and traits don’t necessarily have to be better than others. They simply have to be different and allow for more customization of how your character plays. I need more functional progression and less fluff.
-One thing that has always bugged me about Guild Wars(1 and 2) is the lack of the profession really playing a role in the story. I’ll compare it to SWTOR where your entire story experience is different depending in which class you pick. Judging by the dialog, conversations, and story elements it is almost like these professions don’t even truly exist in the game world. The professions are rarely even mentioned by name. I would like to see more profession specific lore playing a major role in the story, events, and quests.
-My only WvW related request is that you add some things that make WvW look like it exists in the same world as the rest of the game. The keeps are all bland. I’d like to see more of the different races in WvW. I don’t think there is a single Asura or Sylvari NPC anywhere in WvW. I’d also like to see the keeps modified to look like they are something other than human. One possible solution is adding a a new tier 3 upgrade that allows the players to select an artisan from one of the races. After the upgrade completes, the keep will take on the look of a keep from one of those races and gain some unique benefit based on which artisan was chosen. Or another route would be just to give every keep a random chance on reset to have the look of anyone of the various races.

Im not seeing the big deal. Anet can look over the ignore system to make sure it removes comments from being seen. Problem solved.
Hopefully this doesn’t result in mass censoring/banning. Just verify that the ignore system works and call it a day.

Guardians can already cure all conditions on 5 allies, which seems to be the norm when it comes to AoE abilities. And if combined with Pure of Voice and Altruistic healing, it could potentially already be better than this new healing skill.
I want you to go and pop this in the middle of a zerg in wvw.
It is more likely to just be more random content that in no way links up with anything else that has occurred like Scarlet. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. They really need to bring in a professional fantasy writer to help them flesh out their storytelling.
GW2 is one of the easiest MMOs I have ever played. I don’t really see the need for a new heal skill unless they are planning to amp up the difficulty in the content.
I guess anything is better than the queue, but I really don’t like the idea of a pointless map. It seems like a waste of time to make a new map that doesn’t count toward anything.
It would be better to make two maps. One that actually counts toward stuff and then also make the overflow map as well.
What I am seeing described isn’t WvW. It is just a pvp map that takes a lot of people.
They should just remove this from the game if they are intent on leaving the 30 second cool down.
Hello. I play guardian on SoS. My quistion is, this being the forums and such people tend to overact when stuff isn’t all that bad. I recently felt like doing WvW again (Mosly roaming) But alot of people are saying that guardians have been nerfed to the ground, some saying that there’s absoulty no reason what so ever to play a guardian over a warrior.
Lets face it warriors are boring and dont require much skill so I’ll pass. Now it comes down to where I was going with this.
Is it true? Are guardians just plain bad now? Or are people overreacting.
If you noticed, the majority of the people responding above completely ignored what you asked. They are going on about general problems with guardians that have existed long before the most recent patch. They are basically just whiners and complainers.
Guardians were nerfed, but not enough to make them not worth playing. The only thing major you lost was one condition removal per shout with the patch. The nerf hurts primarily group contribution, but the profession is still more than viable.
The direct nerf that guardians received really didn’t hurt all that bad. What hurt is the crazy warrior buff, which indirectly makes guardians less desirable to some people.
(edited by timidobserver.7925)
I would like a response as well.
I think it may have been an undocumented bug fix. I think it was supposed to be 2 seconds base and 3 second with Elite Focus.
I honestly would not want to play with a zerker guardian. If I am going to have a zerker, I’d much prefer a zerker warrior. Zerker has much more synergy with warriors due to their naturally large health pools and massive damage and the ridiculous amount of regen they can get without giving up to much.
All of that said, there is nothing wrong with a zerker guardian. You can survive and not die as well as anyone else that knows how to dodge. I’d just prefer a support guardian unless I were running CoF or some easy mode dungeon.,
What a Joke….
Thought I’d come back for the patch…
Nope. Not going to happen. We actually got a nerf due to PoV.
I don’t get it though. Seems like your Zealous Defender could get some entertaining play out of the meditation change.
It is far from insignificant, but I think that we’ll be able to work around the PoV nerf. I think it will hit group contribution harder actual guardian survivability.
Are you crazy? We actually get some consistent and reliable accesses to fury, and you’re complaining? My Guardian can already heal better and take more damage than any Warrior, but now I can make use of my +30% crit damage with constant fury. This patch is huge, at least for me.
Either way, how about you way for the patch notes, huh? The devs said like 100 times that they didn’t mention all the changes, just be patient.
I can understand why people are not that excited. I can definitely understand why guardians, who can be hit really hard by conditions, may be a little bitter at their already meager defense against conditions being nerfed. It really only benefits WvW duelers, spvpers, and small group roaming guardians. A meditation build would really only be useful at those two things. Meditation builds just don’t bring a lot to the table in a lot of areas of the game.
Most people are in the position of seeing a build that they don’t play get a decent buff while the build that they do play takes a nerf.
(edited by timidobserver.7925)
I am surprised that they haven’t fixed this honestly. It seems like something that shouldn’t be that hard to fix.
Guardians might have low mobility by design but this game has turned into a ranged AoE spamfest, doesn’t matter whether it’s power or condition based. Most damage and viable professions are ranged and a lot of it is AoE. Or pet based while the enemy is ranged.
Guardians don’t have the survivability to be competitive anymore outside of a full boring bunker spec.
Utterly pigeonholed and bland stagnant profession, been playing the exact same role since release, every group might have one but they are all carbon copies of one another.
As soon you join a game you are expected to be a bunker, sit alone at mid and roll around to just stay alive while asking for the others to come and kill any enemies.
The Guardian needs more access to Swiftness so that more play-styles and builds become viable, I don’t see the ranged AoE spam nature of the game changing anytime soon, so unless Guardian survivability outside of a bunker spec is improved then GW2’s slowest most melee based profession will continue to be nonviable outside of bunker.
Zeal line 5pt trait Zealot’s Speed should change to Gain 5s of Swiftness upon weapon swap.
Or give us a 10pt trait in Virtues that gives us 20 or 25% speed when wielding melee weapons.
So run traveler runes and a boon duration build with retreat. You should have plenty of mobility with that.
Fury is better.
Putting the top 3 in their own league or keeping it as it is- TC is screwed either way.
Own league: TC will get bored with the crud we see for fights and that’s no fun.
Not separated: TC is stomped my T1, and that’s no fun.Well drat. =P
Indeed. I play on TC as well. It seems like I will be forced to transfer off. A good match up simply doesn’t exist ATM for us. We are either stomping or being stomped.
I would love being able to get the api to put out a time.
https://gwapinet.codeplex.com/
Pros:
GwApiNet is solid and it seems to have all of the features they want it it listed at 100% complete. It helps that it is used in used on gw2stats.net, so you can browse there to see rather than take my word for it lol. Gw2stats.net is a very smoothly functioning site, so that leads me to believe that the library behind it is pretty solid.
Cons-ish:
The only downside is that the source pretty complicated, at least as a beginner/intermediateish C# dev, I find the source it a bit on the complicated side. Then again, I was trying to understand the source from top top bottom as opposed to just using library. As far as just using the library goes, there is documentation on the documentation tab and it isn’t that hard to wrap your mind around. Once you figure out how to use it, it is very nice.

Curently WvW is an Alt-Unfriendly environment. This thread is for people to put down their ideas to help solve the issue. Account bound wxp has already been ruled out, so I am looking for ideas OTHER than that.
~I will start it off with my three ideas~
Idea 1:
Implement something that I am calling the Trickle Down effect. When one character reaches X milestone WxP rank, the player gets a bonus they can apply to any character other than their highest ranked character.
So for example
-Once you reach rank 100, you get the option to increase the Wxp rank of one of your alts by 30 levels.
-At 150, you can increase the rank of the alt by 50 levels.
-At 200, you can increase the rank of an alt by 75 levels.
Idea 2:
The other option is to increase Wxp gain on the account based on the highest Wxp level the player has obtained. So, for example:
-Once you have any character that is of rank 100 or greater, the WXP gain of all characters on your account, other than the highest ranked character, is increased by %50.
-Once you have any character that is of rank 150 or greater, the WXP gain of all characters on your account, other than the highest ranked character, is increased by %100.
-Once you have any character that is of rank 200 or greater, the WXP gain of all characters on your account, other than the highest ranked character, is increased by %150.
Idea 3: This idea can be called WxP Bank or gaining WxP Interest. It is kind of like the Offline XP system that most MMOs have. It kind of accomplishes account bound WxP without making it fully Account Bound.
So for example:
You gain 30% interest on all of the WXP your earn from playing WvW. So, if you gain 5000 WxP, you earn 1500 WXP in your WxP Bank that you can use on any character other than your highest ranked character.
Note: The numbers I’ve plugged in aren’t as important as the concepts. The numbers can be adjusted/balanced.
(edited by timidobserver.7925)
This solves two problems.
Problem 1: Keeps are pretty dull and plain compared to the rest of the GW2 world as far as appearance goes. The majority of the NPCs are humans and all of the structures look plain.
Problem 2: Gates and walls melt really quick with the buffs to siege rolling in.
Solution:
T4 Upgrade: Hire Artisan.
-There are 5 Artisans available and each keep can have 1 as a T4 upgrade
-The artisans are divided out by race. There is one for each race. Each race has certain benefits that they bring to the keep.
-The keep takes on the look of a building created by said race. So for example, a Sylvari artisan would turn the keep all planty and many of the npcs would become Sylvari.
Yeh, correctly played warriors are tough right now. Fortunately, not many are as well played as the one in that linked video.
All the leagues are pointless. When winning is determined by coverage, it means nothing.
This isn’t true. I think league 2, and to a greater degree, league 3 will be mildly entertaining.
League 1(gold) is indeed going to be lame. It is going to destroy the servers that have to regularly go against the tier 1 servers.
Yeah. Hopefully Anet isnt ignoring this situation. Guild seige is dropping also.
Not much they can do. Once the economy is flooded it is flooded. Even after they fix it, whatever it is, it will take months ore more to even out.
It isn’t like they are going to start removing siege golems from people’s inventory.
I don’t even get into cosmetics and I agree that the mask sucks for a halloween item.
Tanking is not possible in GW2. Dodge or die.
Anet loves oneshot mechanics, which makes defense builds like this pretty worthless.
Original theme https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Collaborative-Development
So what do you want to change in your profession? My list:
- delete time limit from spirit weapons;
- give a symbol to sword; make sword ability #3 cast on move;
- give a blast finisher and aegis boon to shield or re-make shield to block attacks(shield must block!); also reduce CD on shield`s skills;
- make all “utility” signets instant cast;
- nerf Staff skills #1 and #4;
I don’t agree with nerfing anything on staff, otherwise, great ideas.
I could care less about swiftness. If I really want to move faster, which I don’t, I would go and grab some traveler runes. I am 100% for the fury and I would be extremely disappointed if it got swapped out for an inferior swiftness.
I wish I could delete this thread just to make sure that some Anet guy doesn’t read this and think it is a great idea.
Like Hunter said, it is pretty much an ego thing.
I personally am not sure what the issue is. PVE in GW2 is very easy and you can roll an AH build through a dungeon just as fast and easily as any other build if you build correctly.
ARGH!, ok well 2 outta 3 ain’t bad. Thanks
Indeed 2 outta 3 isn’t bad at all given that those that following the WvW forums already knew that the cap question was getting a no.
The fact you need to grind for years to do masteries, unless you are hardcore playtime and regularly transfer servers to the current wxp train seems ridiculously elitist. It’s bad enough the pve grinder creep is ruining WvW balance a little more every 2 weeks, without wvw adding it’s own promise breaking grinds. Most of all alt play is completely punished with the per character implementation.
It’s hard to see any future in playing when there is no chance of ever catching up, and the alt longevity has been removed from the game with charbound wxp making alts completely handicapped and detrimental to trying to keep in sight of the vertical power grinds.
All the masteries, from stuff you spend rank points to, have to do with the PvE aspect of WvW. With the exception of the last point in two tiers.
Also complaining about elitist stuff in this game?! really?! You can get full exotic gear the moment you hit 80 on your alt, with just gold. That will allow you to do pretty much everything the game has to offer. In Spvp, you can be awesome while your character’s real level is 2.
The only thing in the game that requires time and some serious work to do, is geta good amount of agony resistance, and legendary weapons. And even those two, can be aquired 90% solo.
I’m not elitist, and definatelly not a hardcore player. Although I can easily say that this game is one of the most casual friendly games on the MMO market atm. Heck, in other popullar mmo’s, you need months, to grind only the gear of your character, let alone all the other stuff. (I’m not saying it’s good system, I’m just doing a comparison.)
Also, In SPVP you can just go to skyhammer and suicide your ranking up sky high The game is extremely casual friendly. I think WXP may be one of the few things that you can’t insta max out.
I could go for Javelin being put in for Guards.
No point in wasting time theorycrafting a meditation build right now. Big meditation changes coming in Tuesday, assuming that the leaked patch notes were at least somewhat legit.
Judging by the fury addition, the new meditation meta will probably involve getting crit damage as high as possible. Trying to run something like a 60+% crit chance counting fury along with 75% crit damage or something like that.
(edited by timidobserver.7925)
Yeh. I don’t understand how the guardian trait glacial hammer has a 30 second cooldown and perplexity runes has no cooldown.
6 would be better. I get off at exactly 5.
Yep i agree.
I do not understand how people dont see that ballistas are the answer to countering a zerg.
I play as a commander engineer (which is commonly thought as under powered).
There have been times where I have been in a guild team of 4/5 players and we have been defending against a mini zerg of around 20-25 players.
Generally the lack of communication gets them killed, we simply set up a ballista or two on a bridge or other choke point and have a couple of arrow carts set up on the tower we are defending to prevent rushing the ballista.
The zerg comes over the group like ‘woahaha we gonna stomp’, suddenly i command for spreadshot from our 2 ballistas…
all of a sudden, the 20 man mini zerg is now the 8 surviving players on 3/4 hp.
This is before you even take into account the fact we are using standard ballistas, imagine the same scenario with superior ballistas
Apparently you play on a smaller server or don’t know what a zerg is. Firing a ballista into a SoR zerg is like -fill in the blank- into the ocean.
There shouldn’t be any quickly respawning champs in ANY starter zones in direct proximity to the most populated cities. Anet knows they need to do a better job of distributing rewards and populations….
(this doesn’t mean Frostgorge needs a huge nerf though…. maybe just a 30 minute downtime on the respawning of all champs in the zone whenever Claw of Jormag is active so that the events aren’t in direct competition with eachother and completing the biggest one….. opens the other smaller ones back up again. Competing priorities is definitely a sticky wicket for Anet right now)
I do not think that the solution is to make champ respawn times absurd. It would be better to make the respawn timers/order random and maybe randomize respawn location.
Yeh, the current state of shield is very disappointing given that some of them look really awesome.
I bet this will be one big reiteration of already said stuff.
I find it amusing the amount of griping about the lack of rewards in GW2 content.
Those people either (A) never played GW1, or (B) have forgotten that the vast majority of “rewards” for content completion in GW1 was cosmetic at best, if not outright garbage.
I always disliked the whole pure cosmetic rewards thing that GW1 did. I pretty much quit the game after exhausting all of the content. I don’t think that every upgrade has to be statistically better, thus creating a constantly evolving gear treadmill. However once in a while, I do like getting a reward that has some functional use.
I am glad that GW2 chose to go a route that provides content for both groups. The people like me can pursue functional upgrades like ascended gear and the people that want cosmetics can pursue that.
No!
Free transfer to Low Servers, not medium servers.
Uhhh, they would have to actually pay me to transfer to a Low Server. I am not talking about 10 dollars either.
I might go to a low server for like $200 in black lion store credit.
You might be better off just hitting WvW if it’s events/Karma you want. There are usually karma trains running there.
This is false. Champ train gets much more out of the deal.
To answer the OP, I think that TC still farms Orr and FG.
Why do people keep making threads about free transfers. It is like they are clueless to the reality of what is going on. Why would Anet implement a system that seems to have no other purpose than to stimulate transfers and thus stimulate profit from transfers and then make transfers free.
Making transfers free would be completely counterproductive to the whole point of the league systems, so stop making threads asking for it…..
They have already done it man. Until october 17th there are free transfer to medium populations servers.
Interesting, I had no idea. In that case, I am surprised. I guess they made enough money already, so it was okay to give some away.
Eh, no point in whining about this. Yeh it was nice, but it is a bug and not working as intended.
The guardians players are angry about it because the guard right now has only two real viable build, a lot of bad placed crappy traits, lack of softCC, gap closer, conditions and range. And have a tier 3 of health that force you to build vitality instead of damage and if you are tanky you have no damage at all.
And they will gonna buff consecration for sPvP in compensation. In wvw consecration is useless because is pure stationary and you need a lot of mobility in zerg or roaming gameplay.
I am not gonna to play my guardian until real buff. I am gonna to focus on my warrior for zerg and roaming. After the patch all my gold is for more warrior builds.
Doesn’t matter. It was a bug and not working correctly. It would be better to suggest correctly working alternatives instead of whining about a bug being fixed.
All of you “I am not going to play x profession anymore until xxxx” make me laugh. I play my guardian regardless of what they do and I am good at it regardless of what they do.
Yeh, I’d say leave vigor on crit where it is. However, I think it would still be good to stick all of the symbol stuff down in honor or somewhere else revamp the zeal tree.
Eh, no point in whining about this. Yeh it was nice, but it is a bug and not working as intended.
I can go for this but I suspect that it might end up being a bit too powerful.

Eff that. Symbol majors are fine in valor. It synergises so well with altruistic healing.
lol, just lol
Well why would I want symbols healing allies in a trait line with power? They work so well in the line they are in. Also there is only really one symbol that pumps out a ton of damage and that’s Symbol of wrath. Symbol of protection if you get it off is pretty good
haha, we were just having fun because you said you wanted to keep traits in Valor when traits are actually in Honor…
But the reason you want them in Zeal is because Zeal minor traits all concern symbols. So that provides synergy to have symbol traits in 1 line instead of 2. Another reason to move them to Zeal is because symbols scale with power.
Ahhh I am thinking of it from a support perspective. As a bunker I don’t really care if my symbols do more damage or cause vulnerability. I do care if they heal allies and if they are bigger…. Maybe lasting longer or even symbols are larger could be moved… But healing of allies should stay in Honor. And sorry for the mix up…. MAH BAD!
Yeah that’s certainly valid. But the fact that they offer both damage and support is why they’d be perfect for Zeal. It’s an offense-oriented line and Symbols provide that little bit of defense that give Guardians balance.
Instead of moving symbols to zeal, I would remove all symbol traits from the zeal tree and merge them into the honor tree. I would then create all new minor traits for the zeal tree.
This makes more sense.
You could combine,
Larger and Longer Lasting
Healing and More DamageFor a start.
That would be perfect. Hopefully John Peters happens to peek in here. The zeal tree could be improved dramatically if they take the approach we are describing of just moving the symbol stuff and combining it in the honor tree and then adding new minor traits in the zeal tree that have better synergy.
