By adding repetition and RNG with collections, you have promoted something awful in this game:
1. Map hopping to find a map closest to breach
2. LFG Flood to taxi people to “xx% SW”
3. Tagging champs to maximize extracted part loot instead of actively participating in a successful kill
4. Overall dissatisfaction of playerbase
All these simply shadows the beautiful art and the game-play mechanics that you are trying to offer.
Leave RNG to Korean MMOs. I can play those when we want excitement with RNG. I am playing your game with a different intent.
Speaking for myself here. Maybe for some it is a great thing to have in a game, pseudocontent.

I got it to work again.

I am using SweetFX configurator and saw that dll and ini files are now in both places. It is working again. I will check where it is writing the log files though.
Proposal — Introduce Color Wheel Dye Picker with Search and Highlight function
1. Color Wheel and Color Schemes
This will help immensely if ANET can put the dyes they introduce on some type of Color Wheel in game, preferably, on Dye Tab on Hero Panel. To assist the artistically challenged, please include a tooltip system to suggest dyes based on various color schemes.
For example, include color schemes like Monochromatic, Complementary, Split-Complementary, Achromatic, Analogous, Triadic, Tetradic etc. So, when a player chooses any color, let the dye tab reorganize itself provide color choice options under each of these color schemes and then bunch up the remaining colors under Polychromatic color scheme categorized by hue, sorted by saturation.
For a good example, look at http://paletton.com
2. Search function
Let us search dye based on it’s name, dye pack name etc. Or, for example. gimme all metallic green dyes by providing Hue and Material as choices in 2 drop down boxes.
3. Highlight function
Many times, I am looking for a dye from a particular dye pack or just want to see the rare dyes obtained thru gemstore. Let Black Lion chest dyes have distinctive borders in the dye panel so that they pop out.
This will help many people to design beautiful looking toons. Also, ANET can package it under an enhancement pack that can be sold thru’ their gem store.
Since last night, all of a sudden, SweetFX 1.5.1 stopped working for GW2 while it works for me w/ other games.
I have the 2 dlls and .ini in bin directory and it was working until yesterday night. Suddenly I am back to washed out scenery in GW2.
Anyone else experienced this? Advice welcome.
Ok so what to do now.
“The purpose of the map is to defeat the 5 underground and not chestfarm”
Problem is….. there is no solution because low loot is part of A-Nets plan to keep the game running through the Gem Store.
Any thoughts ?
The simple way:
1. Reward players who participated in 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% of the events leading to meta completion by opening the breach in certain amounts proportional to event participation level.
— To prevent fort camping, let successive events at the same fort apply DR towards rewards. This will spread the population across the map.
2. Reward guaranteed Exotic with “greatly increased chance (w/e that means)” of receiving ascended gear box along with other goodies after successful completion of “killing of 5 underground champs”.
Designing a game to revolve around a gem store is not a good sustainable plan. It will hurt the game in long term.
Hi everyone !
Warning !Spoilers if you didn’t already finish the Chapter 5 !
It seems to me that nobody is talking about the Voice who gives the Egg to the Master of Peace.
Ogden taunted us by like :
- “But… You already know !”
- “You don’t?”
- “Haha, okay, you will see later”
But it bothers me !!!! Nobody have an idea who he/she can be?!
I know a lot from the Guild Wars Lore, but I have really NO idea who he/she can be.
My littles speculations are :
The Glint’s spirit or the baby we saved in GWEN (that was a mission).
Any crazy thoughts guys?
Here are my crazy thoughts. Well you asked for it!
It was the voice of Magister Illyrio Mopatis.
Just kiddin’, of course.
This thread is a winner. #notsureifserious
I absolutely loved the hidden arcana instance and, especially, Glint’s lair. I truly needed to re-orient myself as I did not expect how much character that environment had. Masterful artwork indeed.
That said, the instance and the achievements can be done solo.
First fight for achievements is better w. a group sometimes. 2nd fight requires you to stand near red and wait for the facet to port to red before killing it. 3rd fight needs you to just put donuts on the vortexes before attacking the boss (disable auto attack). 4th fight is better done w/ resetting all traits to zero. Guardians will have serious issues w/ this fight. This is a good example where this game needs you to play multiple classes.
I am stunned I feel 6 yrs younger….
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!
Literally
My feelings exactly. Glint’s layer is actually more than 9 years old. GW1 was released on April 26, 2005.
I can’t wait to see Tomb of the Primeval Kings again.
What ANET did to Glint’s lair, I hope they do the same for all GW1 landmarks and bring them back. This game will be the prettiest ever.
I like the new zone. I like the holding and defending concepts w/ forts. Really well done.
EDIT: You make a quality product, you won’t have to find ways to lure people to buy stuff off gemstore. They anyway will. I did… got the bobblehead lab. So cool.
I did it with pure zerk staff ele solo. I liked this fight but, it is quite long and if you get a DC, it’s kinda bummer. Overall, the best living story episode so far.
Posting after many months..
Playing after many months..
I am truly impressed by the artists of ANET. I don’t know what you eat to come up with such beautiful concepts and then interpret them on canvas.. err computer the way you do.
When I entered Glint’s lair, I really thought I got lost in a painting. It was THE MOST beautiful experience I have had in a fantasy game. I was lost in it. Literally. Many kudos to you for bringing back something that was awesome 9 years ago and even more beautiful 9 years after.
Well done indeed.
GW2 will NEVER be like GW1. Let’s get over it already.
The first you must always ask yourself is : can you imagine how that armor would look on a Charr ?
At least i think that the existence of Charr as playable race is one of the main reasons we don’t have more armor sets since it costs the designer maybe 3-4 times more to make it fit to them.
OMG Racial profiling! I must Pro…. err Pawtest!!
Joking but, they could always make some charr specific arrangements.
When people realize that this game is all about zerging and to control that zerging there needs to be some discipline, they will learn choo-choo is the best way of doing it. Hence, either do your own thing elsewhere or get on the choo-choo train.
Guild Halls have no place in Guild Wars 2.
The Guild Halls in GW1 were launchpads for GvG – Guilds fought at each other’s guild halls. In GW2, guilds don’t fight each other, they have some makeshift zergfest in WvW zones and that’s it.
Since guilds are not in wars in GW2, what’s the point of Guild halls? I wish they change the name of the game to “Guild Not in Wars”.
The skull looks silly on this outfit. I prefer the one on Orrian set. This also brings back the issue of one piece outfit instead of 6 individual pieces. That’d have made more sense where I could use some of the pieces of this outfit combined w/ orrian set.
“We have removed everything you loved about Guild Wars 1 and introduced everything that you never wanted in Guild Wars 1. So, if you hated…… you must play Guild Wars 2.”
Feature patch killed me.
Coming in 2014?

Team arena is for the Teams. The rewards relate to team success.
If you are good, you will be noticed and you will notice who else is good in the matches that you play. Add that player to your team and queue together next game; keep adding good people to your team and you will have a 5 man full team eventually. If you all play well together, keep running that same team everyday. You will get better. Don’t forget to add good players to your friendlist.
In a few days, if you stick to the plan I just laid out above, you will not need to make a post like your OP ever again but, your opponents will do so.
Yes this patch was a smashing success. It did something that no other patches could do – make me relog in D3 and purchase Reaper of Souls.
I like FoW, UW speedruns but, I do not believe I will enjoy those 5+ hours of fail runs thu DoA, Urgoz etc. I definitely would not like them to introduce those instances for me to get 3 blues and a green at end.
GW2 needs to come up with more epic open world content.
Chaos Axe – 1 hand Sword with dyeable glowing effects
Obsidian Edge – 2 handed Sword that actually looks like something that can do serious damage while looking darn elegant
1 Ele, 4 Warriors
1 Guard, 4 Warriors
All the variations that you need for everything and anything in GW2.
Having a Thief and Mesmer alt for fractals can come handy.
The real issue for newbies in GW2 PvP is the understanding of what benefits them more – points or players.
As a nooblet, you see +5 points for a player kill on scoreboard and +5 or +15 points for yourself for each kill. But, at the beginning you don’t realize that while those points were being earned and the clock was ticking and points were gained for the “team” based on who had how many capped points. Also, those tacky messages make new people wonder.. hey, I can be on rampage too.
And, zergjoins added more to the problems as the gameplay is so very different there.
That why I want them to be a true B2P game. No cash-shop. Just sell the game and regular expansions. As long as they generate most income with gem-sales we will not see big changes here. This game being B2P and ArenaNet’s name with GW1 being a true B2P game was one of the main attractions for me exactly to not have these sort of cash-shop focus related stuff.
I don’t think any big publisher will ever launch a game in 21st century without having a viable revenue stream thru micro-transactions. Some publishers will even do Pay to play with micro-transactions if they actually get hold of a game that is “that” good. It’s how the industry works now.
The only way this will change if someone can come up with a business model that is more profitable thru B2P-XPaC model and if the industry accepts it for venture capitalists or publishers to fund the development of such a game.
It’s a long shot.
That said, on topic, reward system in GW2 is not much different than any other MMO with the exception that you get some guaranteed rare loot from events and gold from dungeons. Over time, any RPG will become all about currency farming. In Diablo series, it was Stones of Jordan, in GW, it was ecto/plats, in AION, kinah, in GW2, gold.

Killing everything in game drop me lot of exotics. but i guess they just dont know it, cuz they learn how to be a bad player and not a real one.
You are challenging the norm. Many people have run these dungeons over and over again. Some people run them for tokens and others, mainly, run them for the end rewards of 1+ gold.
Killing everything is rewarding but, killing everything in the open world does yield any different result than killing everything in a dungeon. And you do not need 5 ppl to kill everything in the open world and you can do it at your leisure. So, many ppl feel they want to optimize the time “team” spend in a group endeavor.
Just because some people want to skip certain parts of a dungeon they are not becoming bad players.
My experience on megaserver yesterday:
Guildie on guild chat: Karka queen about to pop on my server. Join on me if you need it.
I invite him in party and zone to southsun. After the zone loaded, I found myself on a different server than my team. So, I join on him to get to correct server. Luckily for me world was not full and I could merge.
But, alas, by the time the screen loaded, queen was in the 2nd phase. Since my toon did not have the ability of Usain Bolt, I could not even get to the queen by the time the event was over.
Not only the new world event timings are very frustrating but, also for people who used to enjoy world events as a community, it is a killer. Every single soul in my 500 member guild hates it.
Mixing PvE with PvP is never a good idea. I like both for very different reasons. I don’t have to like them for the same reason and for the same rewards. It’s lame.
All I care about is a /finisher command so, I can pop out my quaggans and phoenix and shark whenever I want.
Honestly, Dragon emote is lame. I never heard of a dragon emitting electricity. It was always great balls of fire! ANET kinda messed up with Dragon emote. It’s not majestic at all like it was in Guild Wars 1.
I’d run this:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fVAQJApelsApWotCxfH8DRRCRljNY/BtQZedA0AHAA-TpQXAAaZAY/BA
AH is amazing in a group.
I have run 400+ matches w/ Pure of Voice and I find it much more useful than +300 vita gain when I am running AH setup.
You do not really need any AR till lvl 18 fractals. At least that’s how it used to be.
First Basic tip for every newcomer should be to learn when to disengage the enemy and the next basic tip will be how to disengage when that time comes.
I bet that you have seen two bunkers duking it out on a point for the whole match at least once in your PvP life.
That said, 3rd basic tip will be to use RLSG skill effectively without a failure. This is extremely important in WvW, but, in sPvP matches it helps also.
RLSG is Run Like a Screaming Girl. A bit sexist, but, you get my drift, hopefully. When you run, you run, don’t stop and try to sneak in a blow. Just Run. Run Forrest, Run.
Animation spam will happen initially but, it will eventually die down.
You will be back [Arnold mode ON].
I am looking for some critique on this build:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fdAQJAqelUUpPr1axdLseRSaBNq0AqMIyQulPPhLEAA-TJxCwAAOBAC3fYyDAYbZAA
I have run this build w/ staff elementalists for holding midpoints or for capping points/buffs against a zerg or for decapping/capping back lost points. This build can’t do long sustained fights like bomb healers but, I found it to be extremely effective for quick rapid shock and awe campaigns.
Your thoughts..
I have played this build for a while:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fdAQJAqelUUpPr1axdLseRiaBNqzE6MmjAIyPmlPFBA-TJRDABH/AAA4EAcVZAV2fAA
It is similar to yours but, w/ speedy kits minus AR and celestial ammy (post patch) or clerics (pre-patch)
I have also tried the following:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fdAQJAqelUUpPr1axdLseNSaBF6NujBIyQulPOhAA-TJRDABH/AAA4EAcVZAV2fAA
I like speedy kits. I will try your build tonight.
roflmao
This is just too funny and true.
Here’s the armor mix ’n match issue I am trying to address.
Left screenie is w/o leggings. Right one is w/ the winged leggings or w/e its called.
Ideally, I’d like something like Viper leggings..
I think I need to post a screenie for you all to understand my dilemma.
Why does this thread remind me of “Full Metal Jacket”?
Why don’t you log in and find out yourself?
No one will bite you or charge you money.
Not having this problem. I’m levelling my new characters in sPvP now and it’s bleeding fantastic. No more mindless champ train or map exploration, and it’s actually pretty quick as well. I’ve put more levels on my new alts in the past week than the past 3 months!
How do you PvE level in SPvP? Is that thru tome of knowledge?
Ok, none of them are kittenty enough. There you got it. We need some like Viper Armor in light version.
Trait line #5, to get trait:
- I: do CM story mode (level 40 dungeon)
- II: Kill Foulbear chieftain and her elite guard
- III: Complete level 59 Personal Story
- IV: 100% completion in Dredgehaunt Cliffs (level 40-50)
- V: 100% completion in Sparkfly Fen (level 55-65)
- VI: 100% completion in Frostgorge Sound (level 70-80)
Only Trait II is in a level 30s zone.
Look at Trait VI: If you’re level 30-40, I’m not sure you can even do damage to mobs in Frostgorge Sound.
Thankfully, I have 8 lvl 80s and not rolling another toon till quaggans are playable. This trait unlocking business looks overdone.
You could get it for like 15k glory b4 patch. Now, you need to do.. what???
Please make it happen. Even a Tutu will do.
<xD>
Can we have a /finisher command to show off my quaggans and other finishers instead of current rank thru /rank?
I like Phoenix and Shark better than Dragon. Why can’t I pop out my Phoenix whenever I want like my dragon?
Please make a /finisher command available.
Everything is worth as a drop.
But, if you have to make them, armor is worth only for fractals. Weapons are useful but, there is no need to rush. Just salvage, gather and make when you can.
