Silly Kuro Kami, you should know by now that thieves will never be touched.

I think we can all agree that FGS is the biggest bullkitten weapon in the game right now. They just need to tone down the DPS of fiery rush a looooot. Requiring a target to use it kittens over anyone who needs the mobility in PVP and for skipping junk.

…Because these types of systems always work so well…owait.

The real problem is the two person kick system. I am certain that in 90% of the cases I’ve been kicked, it wouldn’t have happened if a kick actually required a majority to go through. 2/5 is a silly number and allows two friends r guildies to completely dominate the party. 3/5 would have been a far better system… But we’ve been saying this since the game released and Anet clearly doesn’t give a kitten.

The other day I made the mistake of doing a lvl 38 snowblind with a group that had two from the same guild. I jumped down to the bottom and lit the bonfire while they ran down the long way. wall was about 25% down by the time they arrived at which time one of them got killed. That’s when the whining started and they went on about how i’d “started before they were ready” as if the 3 min it took them to run down was not enough time to get ready. Considering it was alvl 38 fract they shouldn’t have been surprised. In fact I made it easier on them because they didn’t have to kite for as long. Anyway I said “wouldn’t have mattered when I started, you’d be dead anyway” and the LA loading screen appeared two seconds later.

Moral of the story, two kittened players can ruin everything because the kick system allows them to abuse it. Never going to understand why anet has decided that a minority can kick.

Agreed. I buy everything on the trading post because drops are way too low and you can amass the gold to buy an item far far quicker than you can drop the materials to craft them. EX: Volcanus. It requires 450 lodestones. I wish people luck farming all of those. The only viable way to craft this weapon is to rely on a large number of players getting the odd lodestone and then selling them on the TP. In addition to this, many of the mystic forge exotics cost roughly the same (or less with a buy order) to buy outright as they do to craft (assuming you buy the materials off the TP).

As for my personal experience with drops:

400 fractal runs: 1 piece of ascended armor. Luckily it was zerker stats. It remains the only ascended gear i’ve ever dropped. Never had a fractal skin or weapon drop. As it is now the only viable way to get ascended gear is to craft it. Unfortunately this is not fun because it means grinding for gold to buy the mats off the TP. farming all the mats would take forever. I would love to see a system like that of the fractal capacitor back added for ascended gear.

Teq: Join an hour early to get a decent server and then wait. Fun. Have never got a drop off Teq.

World Bosses: Got Final Rest from SB twice so that’s like 12g I guess.

Champ Bags: I have probably got some low value exotics but nothing fancy.

I think I have somewhere over 1300h and I have never got a precursor and the only expensive exotic I have ever dropped is Lord Taeres’ Shadow which sells for 40g on the TP. Generally the exotics I get are A. Account bound or B. worth less than 2g.

This game is severely lacking in the good feeling of getting a great drop because the drop rate on ascended items is pitifully low (forced to craft) and the nice exotic skins are mystic toilet or BL chest only. It’s funny because there’s not much to do at 80 but farm for fancy skins and buying them from BL chests just means you get them right away, reducing the longevity of the game even more. Fractal weapons are a unique drop, but again, they don’t drop nearly enough. I would love to see more drop only weapons providing the droprate is increased slightly.

Ascended gear does look atrocious. It looks stretched and distorted on everything but human females.

on norn females the helm is at least 2x too large… looks like a bobblehead.
on human males and male norns the chest piece is all wonky and looks like cloth
on charr the helmet isn’t even a helmet. it’s just a crown imbedded in their heads.

Deep House mixes for dungeons. Only way to do them imo.

Played a lot of mmos and I have to disagree. The game world is far more detailed and interesting than most mmos, which generally end up being flat maps with some trees scattered around them.

I’ll never understand why people care about celebrities. It must be terrible to have a life so pathetic you need to idolize someone that doesn’t know you exist.

TL:DR: NO.

I’ve never had much over 200 at a time (only did that for golden title). I buy everything in chunks. When I crafted volcanus that has a total value of maybe 500g, I bought 50 loadestones at a time until I had enough.

I’ve never cared to craft a legendary and besides those there isn’t much to buy that requires you to hoard massive amounts of gold.

Mainhand mace is good for mai I guess.

So you had time to do a dungeon and chose to spend that time doing explorable instead of story, and now you’re whining because the other people in the party also hadn’t done story? And you’re arguing that because you have a job that justifies your choice to do explorable before doing story?

Seems to me the obvious solution is to put aside a set amount of money and spend it when a sale comes along.

Also, if you’re forgoing food in order to buy games and ingame items, perhaps you should consider buying these items with ingame gold. Just a thought.

Major issues with endgame:

1. Ascended gear: Why does it even exist? In every mmo I have played you need better gear to do harder content, but in this game ascended gear is not even close to being required. The gap between ascended gear and exotic gear is just too small. You can do all the content with exotics… so why go for ascended?

Ascended gear also costs a ton to make, and crafting it is pretty much required because the drop rate on ascended gear is far far too low to make dropping the sets you want a viable option.

2. Dungeons: Anyone who has been 80 for a while has done all the dungeons hundreds, if not thousands, of times. Endgame seems to revolve around making a fancy looking character… but it is exhausting to repeat the same poorly designed dungeons over and over and over to get the gold required to make unnecessary ascended gear or fancy skins. Once you get the skin you want… then what? Do the same content another 300 times to get another fancy skin.

Without any sort of trinity, there’s no room for cleverly designed dungeons with real mechanics… instead every dungeon is the same stack and spam as the previous one. I can count the number of bosses in this game with really interesting mechanics on one hand.

WvW: What is there to even say about the mess that is WvW? there hasn’t been an attempt to balance it since release and it has devolved into mindless zerging around. I don’t find it fun, maybe some people do.

I leveled three alts to 80 in AC. I always ask when I join and maybe 2% of parties have not been okay with swapping and kicked me.

I generally dislike people who don’t ask and will make no effort to help them. The bosses are so easy now I wish them luck getting back in before it dies. If their leaving causes a wipe I’ll kick them (usually never), but if not idgaf.

Not surprised they went with it though, because it is still normal to view females as weaker than males. From a pure physical standpoint, we are weaker. However if a woman were to make a career in a very physical profession – it would be safe to assume that they’d develop the necessary muscle mass and endurance to excel. Strangely, even in a fantasy world like GW2, when a female character is in a soldier class (Warrior/Guardian) – they can only just keep the blade from dragging behind them.

Do I like it? Nope.
Do I expect ArenaNet to fix it? Nope.
Why? Because its trivial compared to so many other things that need to be addressed.

Not to get too technical but no, it is not simple biology. The biological fact is some males have the potential to be stronger if they train hard. simply put, the blanket statement “males are stronger than females” is complete bullkitten… unless you believe that the elite male strength athletes make up the entire male population. There are females out there that lift 400lbs at 125lbs bodyweight and look like twigs.

If you actually had a clue, you’d know there are a great many incredibly strong female athletes that are stronger than 90% of both untrained and trained male athletes out there pound for pound.

TL:DR a female that trains will be extremely strong.

I do all the world bosses every day, have run hundreds of fractals, done WvW, done EotM, been in champion trains, and guild missions and I have NEVER seen an ascended weapon or armor drop, let alone one with stats I actually want.

Crafting is the only viable option to get them. the droprate needs a significant increase because this is unbelievably frustrating.

Killshot requires a full bar of adrenaline and a lucky crit to do that. It also has like a 3s cast time that roots. the warrior cannot move while using this skill. it can be easily avoided by dodging, blocking, blinding, simply running away from it etc… etc… this is a hard skill to get off, and is really only viable in group pvp.

So to summarize, it’s kind of embarassing you died to it but it’s hardly OP considering it has massive limitations. Other classes can pull off a hit this big much more easily.

If I have a Beta Fractal Capacitor and apply a skin to it, say Desert Rose, and then want to upgrade the back item to the full Fractal Capacitor later will I be able to? Will it revert to the glowing Fractal Capacitor look or continue to look like the Desert Rose? I know there are some thing that can’t be mystic forged if they are transmuted but I’m not sure if that applies to this.

So I recently came back to the game after several months away and decided to gear the necro I neglected a year ago. So I tricked it out in full berserker gear and hopped into fractals… I was using a dagger/DS build.

And then I had to ask myself why I should even bother. It was completely outclassed by my warrior, guard, and mesmer. The damage was awful, the survivability was terrible outside of DS, the AoEs are all on very long cooldowns, there’s not much mobility, few buffs, poor range etc….

Maybe this is a L2P issue, but why bother with one?

I haven’t played in several months and I’m wondering if pets are affected by the character’s gear at all or if they are independent. EX: if the character is full zerk, will it cause the pet to have more DPS?

If not, then the best for a beatsmaster would be to run as much survivability as possible while traiting pet DPS and then just sit back and wait for the pet to win the fight?

I’d go with the intel because it’s an overall better experience in everything than just games. That certainly is the case for me with the 4770K and the 8350. Don’t waste your time or money on the AMD imo. They have their perks, but the price on some of them is misleading. Poorly advertised or advertised as something they are not.

This post is one of the dumbest things i’ve ever seen. you’re seriously comparing a $180 cpu to a $340 cpu? well kitten for almost twice the price of the 8350 i sure hope the 4770k is better.

when you compare the amd cpus to their equivalent price intel cpus the amds are the clear winner in value for money.

I already assumed that overall FPS would increase quite a bit with the 4790k.

My real issue is the performance in large scale world events and WvW.
My current CPU suffices for normal PvE like dungeons and open world. I can play everything on max. In WvW I have to play on minimum settings though.

Do you guys still have to lower your settings in WvW with a 4770k or a 4790k?

you’re never going to get good fps in wvw regardless of what cpu you have. you will see a big increase, but it’ll still be crap.

It’s not that simple. The 8350 will take a dump on the i5 in heavily threaded applications and games that actually use the cores (like BF4 and many newer games). In the future, more games will take advantage of the greater number of cores and threads. The 8350 also overclocks like a beast while the i5 cannot be overclocked (it’s not an unlocked cpu).

if ALL you care about is GW2 then get the i5, as GW2 will not make full use of the 8350. if you like to do other things on your computer like photoshop, new games etc… then consider the 8350.

personally i’d go with the 8350 simply because it is far more versatile and will be better in the long run as games and applications use the extra cores.

Generally TN is better for gaming and IPS is better for content creation etc… where color accuracy is important. the difference in response time is mostly a gimmick and you certainly won’t notice it in a game like GW2.

Personally i’d go with the TN just for the 144hz but honestly you can’t go wrong with either one.

check the bus interface section of GPU-Z and make sure sure the card is running as it should be (x16 vs x4 etc…). If it isn’t, pull it out and put it back in.

i had terrible FPS since the patch that didn’t change regardless of specs and this turned out to be the problem for me.

run a render test in GPU-Z and see what comes up. I had this issue and it turns out the patch was causing my GPU to run in x2 mode instead of x16 mode.

Funny how all the people getting unplayable FPS/lag since the patch get ignored, but the guy who can’t buy gems gets a response right away.

what does your gpu clock speed read as when at 100% load? I had this issue earlier as the drivers sometimes do not recognize gw2 and refused to up the clock speeds up from the power save idle modes.

According to GPU-Z the core clock is 1000mhz and the memory clock is 1200mhz. I’m pretty sure that’s what I should be getting as that’s what it shows in other games.

I haven’t changed anything in months, it was that new build that came through last night that started all the problems.

So I’ve just done some monitoring and I’m getting 100% GPU load with 54% fan speed (Radeon 7870), about 30% load on 4 CPU cores, while the other 4 are idling (AMD 8350) and I’m getting 20 FPS in Ashford. There’s no reason that a 7870 should be hitting 100% load with reduced settings this game. The other thing is this low fps only happens sometimes. This morning everything was fine, and then I relog and it’s garbage.

So I got on this morning and everything was great. I was getting 50fps in dry top even during the sandstorms, and then I came back on a couple hours later and boom 10 fps again.

I have no idea wtf is happening. I tried turning down my settings and it didn’t help, tried forcing some settings through Radeonpro and that made no difference either.

Idk if it’s poor optimization or what, but something is very wrong.

So I logged in for the new content and was running around Dry Top getting 40-50 FPS, then a new build hit (was a couple hours ago, maybe 7:30 EST) and suddenly I’m getting 10 FPS in Dry Top and low 20s everywhere else.

Anyone else having this issue?

the female version is disgusting. the metal high heels are the most pathetic crap i’ve ever seen.

1. the whole ranger class
2. wvw —> total lack of any balance attempts, no WPs, boring zerg/pvdoor
3. 2 man kick in dungeons and leader leaving kicking the whole group
4. ascended gear that punishes you for having alts. they just keep making it worse and worse by adding more and more.
5. no pvp arenas

i prefer pistol because you can just dump them outside of aoe range. they can often last the whole fight. the swordsman may do more dmg but it also dies a lot more. also, using sword 4 requires you to block, which can take a while depending on how much aggro/aoe is being thrown around.

So I bought a Grandmaster manual for my level 64 warrior and I can’t use it. When I try the sound effect goes but nothing happens.

2 gold down the toilet apparently. I don’t want to buy a second one because if that one fails it’ll be 4g down the toilet.

It’s not just an issue with joining too much. I’ve had multiple instances where I’d get the spam block even when I hadn’t joined a party in over an hour. I agree, I see no point in the spam feature.

yes I have no idea how it works… Sometimes I get it after joining two parties, sometimes four.

I get this so many times. I’m not spamming parties I’m just trying to find one that isn’t garbage. I’ve done dungeons so many times I just want a smooth run without any BS. Since there’s no way to see anything about people beyond class I end up baling on a lot of failures.

please get rid of this awful feature. I’m not really sure why this was implemented when things like 2 man kick and the whole party being kicked when leader leaves are untouched. this is an annoyance and serves no purpose. A party spammer or whatever will be voted out quick if they are annoying.

I’m sure i’m not the only one that hates the pvp options in this game.

Let’s start with wvw because it’s utter garbage for anyone that actually wants to pvp

1. There has been zero attempt to balance classes
2. There’s random pve elements for some reason
3. the maps are massive, which means it takes upwards of 15 min to find someone to fight. if you don’t play a class that can perma swift this is even worse.
4. Most pvp takes place at towers, which i don’t count as pvp at all.
5. because most pvp takes place at towers and the maps are so kitten big zerging is the most effective strategy. very few people run around alone.
6. When you finally manage to get into a fight after 15 min of zerg dodging and empty map and you die you have to repeat the whole thing again.

spvp is slightly better i guess, but still terrible. at least there’s been some effort to try and balance stuff, but if you don’t want to capture points there’s nothing here for you. i suppose you could get a private session and do it that way, but let’s be honest, we shouldn’t need to pay for that and it’s a hassle all around.

what this game needs is a pvp arena outside the cities where people can fight each other. pretty much every single game with pvp has these and there’s a reason for it.

Just make a big empty space that flags you when you enter so people can enjoy some real pvp and test builds etc… without any dumb objectives, zergs, etc… getting in the way. you don’t even need to put the spvp balance in there, just keep the pve balance.

So it seems most people just get a DC when they try to enter dungeons, and then a couple more DCs when they try to log back in.
