I can confirm Hammer Bolt/Necrotic Grasp/some Chrono skill go right through walls.
kittenty video but it highlights what’s happening.
+1
Tenne pls some of us have been waiting 3 years.
“we want you to have the pets but we are completely unwilling to make them a contributing asset.”
From my testing leopard is actually a bit slower than lynx, cause the extra bleeds go a long way. Especially now that cats have 1000 cond damage.
Actually the bonus condition damage pets got from the patch is bugged and only effects the number shown in the tooltips not the actual skills.
For example the lynx rending pounce and maul tooltips state that 4 stacks of bleeds are applied for 10 sec doing 5.200 damage (520 dmg per tick), but they actually do 3.280 damage (so 328 dmg per tick).
Similar thing with the hawk can’t remember the exact numbers since i am not ingame but it should deal 225 dmg per tick, the actual number is ~130 dmg per tick.
This is a big issue that has gone unfixed for 4(?) months.
I guess they only act quickly to fix “bugs” when they result in a nerf.
Guess this dispels the rumours about birds being the best able to hit a moving target. I’ve found them to be utterly useless, especially given the small AoE circle they get with beastly warden.
Now on to find another pet with a low cooldown skill to use instead of my owl.
Also Daredevil perfectly illustrates just how useless pets are. All the flipping around and stealth and teleports renders them entirely useless. Not only can they not land a hit, but they can’t even come within range of having even the tiniest hope of hitting them.
The range of their attacks needs to be increased and movement speed should be buffed further.
Watching scrappers run around with self made 20-25 stacks of might for upwards of 30s without having to anything to get it…
I made a thread about Ghost thieves in which I stated multiple times that direct damage should be added to thief traps instead of nerfing runes because doing so would nerf other trap classes too. Then we got DH traps that do too much damage and people called for trapper runes nerf when they aren’t the problem anymore than they are on ghost thief.
Now rangers get nerfed too because of Anet’s inability to balance other classes. I just don’t understand how they can continuously be so utterly braindead about balance. It’s unreal.
#kittenrangers.
Anet complete balance kittenup… Hey let’s nerf trapper runes and in doing so nerf rangers too because we made DH traps too strong.
#kittenrangers.
Who the heck actually figured out this recipe…?
Is this pre-smokescale nerf? Also what is “semi-active auto attacking”?
Sounds like a bug. That shouldn’t be happening.
The relevance is you’re either going to buy the expansion (and thus alleviating your problem faster the sooner you break down and do it) or you’re going to quit (and thus alleviating your problem the sooner you break down and do it) and regardless of which you opt to do, we will all be spared having to read more posts like this.
Oh i understood what you said, but it isn’t relevant to the fact that Anet has adopted kittenty tactics to sell their expansion. One would think if they were confident in the expansions content they wouldn’t need to try and force people to do it.
As for quitting obviously people have to buy expansions to enjoy a game throughout its life cycle… that’s pretty obvious since all new content will be in expansions. That being said, I think i have a right to call them out when they make dumb decisions in the hope of having them reversed, and you can feel free to not comment on threads you disagree with.
I may buy the expansion on sale if they add enough to make it worth it to me or i might not given how disgusted i am with the tactics they used in HoT. Quitting the game is obviously not a solution for someone that likes the game and wants to see it be better than it is, but i’m not going to bend over and stretch open my kitten to be penetrated as you clearly have if i disagree with the direction they’re taking the game.
You’re probably new to MMO, but I have seen this same thread a thousand times.
Game A releases an expansion. A few people claim that they will never buy the expansion because of reasons that vary from stupid to ridiculous. There are ALWAYS two outcomes: they break down and buy the expansion, or they quit the game. The outcome that DOESN’T happen EVER is people refusing to buy the expansion but keep playing the game actively throughout its life cycle. So what’s it gonna be for you?
Nope I’m not new to MMOs. Guess i’ve only played ones that treat their players properly?
I don’t see what the relevance of the second part is.
As always, I am glad I wait for full release to get a sense of how things actually are instead of pre-ordering and getting kittened.
HoT has very little content (three new maps and an elite specialization… that’s it!) and clearly Anet realized this because they tried to extend the life of the new maps (which are literally empty minus event trains) by turning them into repetitive grind fests and forcing you to repeat the same thing over and over to unlock the elite spec.
Once you get the elite spec you just play that through the same old content again. There’s no new dungeons, there’s no new fractals, there’s a god awful new WvW map that is already dead and it’s been what? less than a week?
Then of course you have guild halls… idk why people want these as there’s nothing to do in them. What do you even do here? decorate it? “hang out”?
And lastly we have raids… well actually we don’t have raids yet because Anet ripped HoT out of the womb several months early but they’re totally coming! and they’re totally going to be great? How great raids are remains to be seen. Even though HoT is released… you’re still taking a preorder gamble on promises.
Who are these bizarre people who LOVE guild wars 2 enough to complain about content they don’t have access to on the forums, but DON’T LOVE it enough to save up $60 to buy an expansion they had 10 months advanced notice of? That’s 20 cents a day roughly speaking. If you can’t save that up I wonder how you pay your utility bills and ISP.
Nobody is complaining about content they don’t have access to. If they want to lock people out of the new content they are perfectly entitled to do so and I would have zero issue with it.
Don’t want to let me into the new maps? Fine. Don’t want to let me run fracts past 50? Fine. Don’t want to let me go to the guild hall? Fine.
But nerfing things that have been in the game for the sole purpose of trying to force an expansion purchase? That’s just slimy.
also idk why everyone indists on insinuating that people that didn’t buy are poor. It has nothing to do with the cost of the expansion (although it really does have about $20 worth of content), and everything to do with being against kittenty business practices.
I didn’t buy the expansion because it’s in my opinion a kittenty expansion that doesn’t deserve kitten price tag whether I can easily afford it or not.
The problem with druid is they literally can’t be anything but bunker because Anet decided to make it a healer. Remove that and the class becomes complete and utter kittening garbage.
Not sure where the whine is coming from since yeah you can’t kill them but they also can’t kill you.
Of course they will be nerfed because #kittenrangers.
Alternative thread title: “Rewarding those that support Anet”
Rewarding players that bought HoT by taking away from the ones that bought the base game and the content that was included with it for years.
Good logic.
To be fair… Invisiwarr is probably better than Berserker kek.
I see what you did there!
To be fair it isn’t the whiners… people have been whining about thief, mesmer, ele etc. for years and they’ve never done anything about them.
I mean crhist right now we have thieves that are literally never visible when they kill you and they haven’t done anything about it.
You know.. I don’t even care about other classes at this point. I’m kittening tired of knee-jerk nefs to the ranger. I mean, come on, how do you go about nerfing one skill and destroying an entirely different and unrelated skill in the process?.
Oh I don’t disagree with you at all. I think it’s ridiculous and have rolled my eyes constantly over the years at Anet’s treatment of rangers.
Sucks it’s the only class that appeals to me.
Maybe Anet just decided to put the smokescales out of their misery and remove them entirely.
The new maps seem to be at least 60% barricades. If you have a zerg that’s fine, but they take ages to destroy with smaller groups. Only other option is to go around… which generally takes even longer given the terrain.
I’m not even sure what the point of them is other than to literally slow you down because they protect nothing of value.
Also pets can’t attack them! #kittenrangers
You know what? This is YOUR fault. I made a post about this on the general forums that was quickly deleted and I got a ban but I’ll repeat it again.
preordering never ever ever benefits the consumer. If you were smart you would have waited for release and actual reviews. Game companies screwing over their players is hardly a new thing in the industry. You preorderers are kittening us all over with your desperation to throw money at game companies. If we all refused to do it maybe we’d get some quality.
So whatever, I’ve heard this sob story too many times. You bought into the hype, gambled, and lost. Cry me a river.
How do they benefit from pulling a bait-and-switch on Ranger players? I highly doubt it’s some sort of scam versus plain ol’ developer detachment.
They benefit by getting your money. preorder bonuses to get you to give them your money before you get to see the final product… Events to let you try the builds before they are finalized… The goal is to put out false advertising to move units and it is happening like never before in gaming. Look at all the major game companies, they’re all doing it because they have zero respect for their customers and I don’t blame them because the gaming community has brought it on themselves.
Swap the F2 back so I have an on-demand smokefield. NOW.
I don’t care about the damage.
Ps. Thanks to all the complainers for giving the ranger yet another knee-jerk reaction nerf. They always overdo it in some way or another, this time they manged to kitten up the entire utility aspect of the smokescale pet.
To be fair it isn’t the whiners… people have been whining about thief, mesmer, ele etc. for years and they’ve never done anything about them.
I mean crhist right now we have thieves that are literally never visible when they kill you and they haven’t done anything about it.
The complaints about the complexity are less about getting lost and more about being annoyed by how many cliffs and barricades there are blocking your way and forcing you to go 19 miles out of the way to get around them.
You know what? This is YOUR fault. I made a post about this on the general forums that was quickly deleted and I got a ban but I’ll repeat it again.

The veteran triangle head dinosaurs don’t? I think there’s some “elite” versions of tigers and such but I’m not sure if they are veterans.
Because you’re not in HoT content and you deserve to be punished for it.
The baddies will be happy to know that Anet never fails to swiftly nerf rangers while allowing other classes to be ridiculous for years.
The smokescale has now received a 50% dmg decrease and the F2 skill has been changed.
I am more and more glad I didn’t buy the expansion by the second lmao.
Called it!
Sloppy is not a term I would use. It’s actually the opposite. They put soooo much detail into it when all a lot of people want is a big empty field with some objectives in it.
These new maps have all these different levels etc that in theory would lead to good fights but in reality will be completely ignored and actively hinder movement.
So good it already has its own hate thread.
The second I saw that pet on the reveal I knew it was going to be whined about. Now it’s only a matter of time to se how long it takes to be nerfed.
The map is big and beautiful but what it seems to fail to understand is we go to WvW to fight people.
So really it doesn’t matter how great the scenery is if the design makes it incredibly painful to find fights.
My interest is waning quickly as i have managed to buy a fractal dagger after 2 years of trying to get one to drop and the general fall of WvW. This is exacerbated by the fact my ping and FPS have gone to complete kitten since the patch expansion.
I have taken several 5-6 month breaks since launch so I’ll probably do that and wait to see what happens. Reading the forums is more fun than the game itself.
Celestial form gets nerfed into the ground on release but somehow lingering light makes it through… okay then.
As for pets… They aren’t actually that strong. you have always been able to get huge hits with proper stacking and a lot of luck with the old pets, including wolves and drakes. The smokescale will probably be nerfed though.
Druid is the worst elite spec… and will be even worse after the next round of nerfs. What a surprise.
This x1000000 They are incredibly annoying.
Fractals are HOT content. So you need to buy HOT to get access to the full experience.
Oh wow. Fractals are now HOT content. I’ve seen it all on these forums.
Unfortunately he’s right in a way, as they’ve simply taken fractals and moved them to HoT.
Also I had to laugh when i woke up this morning to see the mods had moved this thread to the dungeon forum. I guess it was generating too much attention in general where it belongs.
The maps are so gigantic and there’s so much empty space that exists for reasons I can’t understand. There’s cliffs everywhere so getting anywhere is a major chore and there’s a bunch of strange gimmicks like stealth canyons that have me shaking my head. It really is EotM 2.0 bigger, badder, and more annoying.
It took about 10 min for me to even see a friendly player and even longer to spot an enemy player. We basically were in map chat completely lost running around aimlessly and trying not to fall off cliffs. Eventually we managed to tag up and collect enough people to make a party.
it was not much fun at all. The only good thing is that scenery is nice so you have things to look at while you bumble around.
So instead of posting in the thread about this exact topic in the dungeon forum section you had to come here to talk about it?
Things like that make the endless whining of dungeon farmers a lot harder to take seriously.
Using the example of dungeons to illustrate a point does not make the thread about dungeons. Perhaps you should invest in some reading lessons if you are not able to understand the OP.
Then what is this thread about? Fractals are HOT content. So you need to buy HOT to get access to the full experience. The only non-HOT content that was heavily nerfed was dungeons.
So either he is complaining about dungeons, which there are other threads about, or he is complaining about fractals, which makes zero sense, as you SHOULD need to buy the expansion to get access to content related to it.
Maybe you get some of these reading lessons you mentioned.
I can’t tell if you seriously just don’t understand or you’re purposefully being dense, so i’ll lay it out very clearly for you.
Fractals are not really HoT content until you get past 50. If they want to lock people out of fractals past 50 they can certainly do so and I wouldn’t mind.
HOWEVER fractals to 50 have been around for years, (expansion literally only added levels not actual fractals) and now suddenly the first 50 have their rewards slashed unless you buy the expansion. Since fractals came with the base game (inb4 some kitten mentions they came out after) one can clearly see that this results in a net loss for those that didn’t buy IE: a punishment for not upgrading.
Not too hard to understand.

It doesn’t take more than kindergarten logic to understand that a good expansion should leave the base game alone and instead offer new things to encourage players to buy.
Anet has apparently completely failed to understand this, as they have gone the route of kittening over players in a sad attempt to force them to buy. Instead of adding content, they have chosen to take it away. Case in point, fractal rewards are now locked behind masteries, which require the expansion. There are no new fractals to encourage us to buy, instead they are simply removing rewards from the bse game and shifting them to HoT.
Sorry old players, you can no longer get the rewards you have been getting for years now because you didn’t pay for the kittenty expansion.
I knew leading up to launch that Anet was relying on hype to sell the expansion before launch, and banking on people not looking to closely, and I have been proven right.
Another utter disaster by Anet.
An expansion should NEVER hurt the vanilla game. It should offer incentives to upgrade by offering more for buying, not removing things from the base game to kitten with people.
Absolutely disgusting.
Does this also means people without HoT can’t get fractal weapons too since the vendor is walled off behind mastery?
Even though this hurts me as someone that didn’t buy the expansion I’m even more glad I didn’t.
Anet can kitten off if this is the kitten they pull to gouge money and sell HoT
Arenanet be like champ trains in queensdale and frostgorge sound are too good for making money… let’s nerf them.
Now they’re like dungeons are too good for making money.. let’s nerf them but leave silverwastes alone.
NP because we have like… an economist or something.
What do you even get for salvaging?
Once again I’m glad I never pre-order anything.
Never had an experience likes this, especially after longbow buff months ago and wouldn’t care too much if i did either. kittens on the internet exist, no point in worrying about it.
Honestly I don’t understand why people take what other people say so personally and seriously, just laugh and move on with your life.
