R.I.P. City of Heroes, 2004-2012
Long Live Atlas Park 33
Warriors in this game are ridiculously diverse.
It’s been TWO MONTHS.
Good lord people, have some freaking patience.
@Ryth: Type /wiki thingyouwanttoknow and the game will open it up (like /wiki Brown Dye).
My motivation was not beating it so many freaking times. When I finally did it I wailed in victory like a maimed narwhal and ran around my house swearing in triumph. My wife spent this time laughing at me and my stupidity.
I managed to get in on an “all 80” run on my 36 engineer. I think the group didn’t notice or something, but halfway in someone said I wasn’t 80. Eeeexcept I was full-up elixirgunning and heal-turretting and overall being a green number pusher, so they didn’t mind.
I hate the “this only” MMO mindset. If I see anyone ask for “level 80 only” (or my personal favorite “level 80+++ plz”) I put those players on block.
Perhaps the Asura don’t even use their hands. How cool would that be? Sword-o-kinesis!
Do.
Not.
Want.
There are two enormous moss-covered temple walls; one in Kessex Hills near the Dominion Killing Zone, and one in Lion’s Arch that’s guarded by Tengu. Expansion content for sure. Don’t forget the door to the Blood Legion Homelands in Harathi Hinterlands, currently closed.
The Intel HD Graphics family is just not enough to run this game on a Mac. Sure, it meets the Windows min specs, but running this game through an emulation layer puts even more strain on the system. Dedicated GPUs are the way to go.
It kind of sounds like you have a very set way of doing things. However, from what you told me, you’re failing to do the following on teams and events:
-Set up combo fields to empower and alter the attacks of others
-Utilize buffs, shouts, banners, etc. to give other players boosts and benefits
-Coordinate yourself so that you might help a downed player and/or set up a healing area at the right moment
-Use utility skills and weapon skills that provide debuffs to enemies and buffs to players
You can praise the almighty Holy Trinity all you want (protip: just because everyone else does it doesn’t mean you should; ever heard the “if everyone jumped off a bridge would you do it too” question?) but from what you posted as your " battle strategy" you’re doing absolutely nothing to contribute to the success of others besides plucking the 1 key and healing if you get hit. Meanwhile you tell me that others should need to know their role and diversify to make for a better game? That is hypocrisy in its plainest form. Practice what you preach.
And yet here I am, running my Engineer with +Healing and Elixir Gun and all beneficial potions/Med Kit so I can buff/heal any team I get on.
What you don’t seem to realize is that people already do all these things. I’ve seen Elementalists tank. I’ve seen Rangers buff and heal. I’ve seen Engineers heal and debuff and tank (Juggernaut is fun). Yes, the mob mentality is to do damage— but damage is what kills enemies. The best form of crowd control and support is to kill the enemy dead. We don’t need the same agonizingly overused gaming trope that almost every MMO in existence has latched onto like some sort of desperate lamprey.
Also, please don’t pass off what was clearly a passive-aggressive insult as something logical.
@vince
sounds like your better off in a single player game.
I think centipede will be to your liking.
1. Why flame?
2. You’re not funny.
3. It is not unreasonable to want a character who isn’t 70% useless solo.
In WoW I hated dying if I pulled more then 2 enemies. I hated dying if I pulled one Elite. I hated dying if I didn’t have a pocket healer. I hated dying if the mages/hunters/warlocks didn’t DPS fast enough.
In GW2 I can take on things that other games won’t let you survive and win. That’s rewarding. Falling back to the archaic and annoying ‘holy trinity’ of Tank-Heal-DPS will make this game as boring as every other MMO that relies on it.
Centipede. Were you saving that one up for a moment like this?
No trinity. I left WoW because of that garbage. I hate having to rely on others for my own effectiveness.
I can confirm the heal.
I’d love a karma vendor that sells that stuff.
I snagged a pair of the Mad King’s Slippers (light armor) on a run with my Engineer (36). Saving them for my Elementalist
I just hope with all my heart that they don’t do what Aion did. Did you guys ever see that? Long story short Aion promised a Double XP server that players could transfer to. What they actually did was implement a server with a new name and halve the XP on the normal servers.
I’m seriously hoping it isn’t something like that. Ever since Aion pulled that nonsense I shudder every time I see “new game mode,” even in console games.
I will admit that it does feel like going underwater is six times as dangerous as staying on land. For some reason, enemies seem to hit harder, move faster, and have more annoying control skills beneath the waves. Plus, is it just me, or are underwater skills substantially weaker than land skills?
XP and Karma aren’t money. Drops? Maybe, depends on what it is.
Compare to WoW i think GW2 dont event match up with the content that what WoW can give lol…..
Except everything in WoW is the same.
Grind to 85, raid. Raid. Raid. Raid. Raid. Raid. Raid.
You missed a few, WoW goes to 90 now, Raid. Raid. Raid. Raid. Raid. Raid.
Are you serious? 90? I’m glad I left that game in ’06.

lolol I hear you there man. I spent most of last night in the starting point /crying lol. Tonight is another night, however!
I finally finished it on my max-size level 80 Norn Warrior last nigh. Kudos to the people I was with who kept me laughing. When I finished I threw my hands in the air and wailed victoriously. My wife thought it was hilarious.
Alright, thanks. So this means I need to run it on ALL of my characters then. XD
Awesome. SO LONG, WEEK, I HAVE WORK TO DO
… will the boots be level 80 when I get to the top?
I want to go on a personal story-like quest in Hoelbrak on my Norn where I help Eir and Knut Whitebear chop down the biggest pine tree in the Shiverpeaks. Then I want to haul it back to the Great Lodge and decorate the kitten out of it.
While they were in the wrong, you were in the wrong as well. You don’t pick a fight with your guild during a dungeon. Save it for afterwards, and if you get kicked, then find a new place.
If you were antagonizing your team, it’s small wonder they decided to kick you immediately rather than wait until the dungeon was complete. So, next time you decide to pick a fight for any reason (even if you think you’re in the right), make sure of the timing for it. :o
I’m sorry, but if I run a dungeon and someone dies and then just sits there dead instead of waypointing I’m gonna say something about it. It’s one thing to be downed and fighting and asking for a resurrect; it’s another to be dead and not do anything and ask for a resurrect. Waypoint. It’s not hard.
What rare back item from the storyline are you talking about? I only saw a Masterwork.
The moon and the dark night sky sort of tend to give a little tiny hint.
Never been to Orr, have you?
Sometimes it’s not that obvious— sometimes my Sylvari will glow even though it still appears to be daytime. It’s a sort of ‘dusk’ that hangs around forever.
No.
(15 character limit.)
The title is fluff. I could make a Guild right now and make 3 people officers for no reason other than I want to. The Guardian in the screenshots it a rude player who doesn’t understand the game. Just because he’s in a Guild and he has officers doesn’t mean he has some sort of power. He’s just some windbag with windbag friends who can’t play the game.
Except, of course, the power to kick people out of the guild.
That’s a utility, not actual power. The OP’s antagonist is just a bad player with a bad attitude and a bunch of friends who’re just as bad as he is. Guilds and Officers aren’t real positions of influence (high population and high influence Guilds notwithstanding).

Night seems very random when I play. Sometimes I’ll zone in to a place at night and then two minutes later, zone into another place during the day. I can’t tell when exactly night’s supposed to be. I basically follow a Sylvari around to see if they’re glowing so I can tell when night is coming if it’s not obvious that it’s there.
There ya go. :P
Defense: Last Stand trait is broken.
Are you sure it’s not a ten slot storage bag instead of ten ToT bags?
I would have explained how his mother was overly promiscuous, and what he should do with his advice.
Haha, no way would I be in that guild or dungeon letting some kid who’s stones have yet to drop talk spit to me like that, haha.
This is a much more curt version of what I originally wanted to say.
Do your server a favor and make this guy known for what he does, and his guild as well. People tend to listen when you say “THIS GUY NEVER WAYPOINT RESURRECTS AND HE KICKS PEOPLE BEFORE THEY FINISH DUNGEONS.”
Dude was a troll. Don’t worry about it. Mesmers and Elementalists are loaded with skills that either keep enemies from attacking or keep attacks from landing. That’s their job. They’re not tanks.
Kinda sounds like that Guardian and the Guild he’s a part of is a bunch of jerks. I’m sorry you lost your chance at tokens but you just got an opportunity to avoid an obvious clique of tools who can’t play.
Seriously. His replies speak fathoms of his character.
“get some boss twink gear instead”.
Man, I wish people would stop using that word, especially when they don’t know what it actually means. x.x (Don’t google it at work.)
Twelve hours. One hundred fifty-six attempts before I got it. I ‘appreciate’ the Clocktower in the same way I ‘appreciate’ trying to fix my garbage disposal. It’s a humongous time sink that, while feeling honestly rewarding once finished, is the most annoying and tedious thing I have ever done in a game.
I don’t understand why
A) The system isn’t distance based, and
B) The system doesn’t allow free waypointing within the same zone
Seriously, why should we pay to use waypoints in the same area? ESPECIALLY if they’re close to each other? On top of that why isn’t the system calculating travel costs by distance? In Gendarran Fields there are two waypoints (one of them is Nebo’s Terrace Waypoint, can’t remember the other) that are literally fifty yards apart. It takes 15-20 seconds to run between them. And yet at 80 they both cost 1s50c to use between each other. How does it make sense to have two points so close together cost the same amount? I could understand if going from the south-easternmost WP to the north-westernmost WP cost some money, but any closer than that within the same zone ought to be free, and any out-of-zone waypointing should be calculated on distance. Kessex Hills to Queensdale ought to be much cheaper than Kessex Hills to Malchor’s Leap.
What you’re seeing is the pre-tinting of the armor itself. If the normal mapping and/or texture mapping of the pieces is tinted in any way, it alters the color of the dyes. Orange Dye on Berserker’s Scale Anything is different from Orange Dye on Pit Fighter’s Anything.
Bought and downloaded today. Tried to login and getting the c000000005 error messgage when the game crashes when I press play at startup.
It’s a 2011 macbookpro
2.2 ghz
8 ram
snow leopardI know snow leopard is below system requirements, but surely that shouldn’t STOP the game from even starting? I can’t find any solutions, what’s going on? I’m upset with my purchase at the moment.
There’s a reason they tell you to update: The TransGaming engine is no longer compatible with Snow Leopard. What video card do you have?
I had a very similar experience and it turned out to be kernel panics due to a failing logic board/graphics card. I strongly urge you to take your machine into an Apple Store and have them run a diagnostic. This is exactly what I was experiencing and, if your case is similar to mine, you may need a replacement logic board.
EDIT: What kind of graphics card does your machine have?
I thought Sylvari held their sword out by hand too.

Have you run the basic gambit?
Disk Utility > Repair Permissions
Reset SMC
Reset PMU?
I didn’t even think to mention that! The latest updates for your system have new drivers for Intel graphics. D’oh, brain fart. Glad to hear you’re up and running though!
Head to your bank. In the bottom right there’ll be 3 boxes for gold, silver, and copper. Enter the amount you want and hit Deposit.
Bam! Account wide funds.
Love me.
Love me I said!
Oh crap. Zhaitan taught them flight.
