Are you guys deleting the Application Support folder? If you say it’s not there, you’re not looking in the right place.
Macintosh HD/Users/YourUserName/Library/Application Support/Guild Wars 2
I run a 5-man casual guild, a close knit group of IRL friends (my wife included). There is no way we could ever get enough influence without weeks of farming and/or weeks of manipulating the market for 8 hours a day so we could buy influence. Or, we could just lay down cold hard cash and convert gems to gold and gold to influence… But seriously, where’s the fun and/or sense in that?
These missions are not accessible to small guilds and simply marginalize the casual guildie.
This will be the end of small guilds as far as influence goes. There’s just no point in being in a guild smaller than 50 people now aside from personal preference, especially if you want to run guild missions. This is really disappointing.
Well, so much for my 5-man guild ever getting any of these guild missions.
That’s really disappointing, and I cannot express how upsetting it is since the word filter will just turn my post into a litter of kittens.
… are you serious?
From the blog post:
“But what if my guild is super small?” you may say? Not to worry—all these missions take place in the persistent world, which gives you the ability to rally people from the surrounding countryside and maybe make some new friends in the process!
So I guess what they decided not to mention was that you can do guild missions!
…… if they’re the missions of a huge guild that can afford to start them. Awesome. Just awesome.
Have you deleted the Application Support folder?
I will not. Prices on the trading post are already absurdly high. If I can 1) do my part to lower the price of an item and 2) get that item to someone who really wants it but doesn’t want to pay out the nose, I will.
Any “I did it because” is an attempt at a “save” in this usage. I merely pointed out this reasoning given only make him look just as bad in my opinion. And that maybe next time he (they?) should think more on who’s going to see/read what they’re saying. Lastly, I don’t understand the last part. Since you don’t have a way to possibly know me, nor reference posts where I would type like that, I’ll just disregard it. Point still stands that they should have thought more of the reader than the interviewer in this case. If the interviewer is clueless on the game, better to educate them than stoop to their level. It helps more.

2000rpm is actually on the lower end of the spectrum as far as mac fan speeds go. That’s 1/3 of what the fans were designed to do. Max is 6000rpm, and that makes for some excellent cooling.
Eight.
80 Norn Warrior, Andreux Sainte.
80 Norn Necromancer, Reinhardt the Cold.
80 Human Engineer, Vince Blood.
74 Charr Guardian (Charrdian), Orran Ironspine.
50 Asura Elementalist, Qwoonix.
27 Sylvari Mesmer, Jheldarr.
26 Human Ranger, Reagan Woodcarver.
17 Sylvari Thief, Fuathgorm.
I feel like it wouldn’t be too tough to implement Pistol Main Hand for Mesmers.
Slot 1 (auto): Infused Bullet; inflict a random condition on target foe.
Slot 2: Shoot to Thrill; Fire a bullet that grants two stacks of might for six seconds; 3s recharge.
Slot 3: Quickdraw; Rapidly shoot your foe three times. Final shot summons a clone.
City of Heroes had this built in, in the form of the Mission Architect. Players could create custom story arcs for their friends to play.
The problem with a system like this is the immeasurable amount of work it takes to properly execute. Even two years after implementation, the Mission Architect in CoH was still receiving bug/exploit fixes.
Take a page from another company under (and struck down by) NCSoft, Paragon Studios: Do not nerf the strong, but buff the weak to match them.
I just watched their exchange in the Bear Lodge in Hoelbrak, and the lesson Shaman Ursel gives Bann is beautiful. I think it can be applied to real life rather well.
Kudos who whomever wrote this dialogue.
50-ish gold? I call BS. Abyss is 20-ish, Celestial 13-ish, White/Black 10-ish…might wanna check that math.
You must have missed the part where he named his own price instead of buying the lowest seller.
This is what I use. Best laptop cooling pad I’ve ever used ever.
(The fan is the size of my head.)

The darker/purer of color the dye, the rarer it gets.
Those are fps. This is an mmo, lol so your point is invalid. I know what those people were like, exactly why i stopped playing fps (and fps in general were the same kitten over and over, ever year was duller than the last).
Doesn’t matter what kind of game it is. If this game had a console-using portion of the playerbase I guarantee you the community would be far different.
Furthermore, MMOs do not work well on consoles.
(P.S. – Just because you think I’m wrong doesn’t mean my point is invalid, chief.)
Not sure what your tryin to say Iehova but ok…
Play an online round in Halo 4 or Black Ops II. You’ll understand quickly.
Please no. DCUO tried that and failed miserably; their game suffered because of it.
Yeah, unfortunately it’s not a mac-specific bug.
Delete the folder again, but this time don’t copy the config file. Run the app and let it recreate the config. If the game runs, close it down and re-edit your config file.
Let us know what happens.
… you know that zooming in enough will put your camera inside player geometry, right?
This isn’t a bug or ‘see through’ anything. This is you trying to get close enough to see what’s under the armor by positioning yourself behind someone’s character.
C’mon now, OP.
The Cider wrapper causes 100% fan speed regardless of what you’re running. I ran this on my quad core Mac Pro, and the fans went up to 100% as soon as I launched the game. Checked the processor temps; not one was over 140F. Something about the emulation wrapper really wreaks havoc on the system’s priorities.
That said, YES! YOU DO NEED TO COOL YOUR MACBOOK! :P Macbooks are made of metal, so in essence, the entire bottom-case is a heatsink. But on that same page, you have to make sure it can breathe since you can’t keep cool if your machine is parked firmly on a bunch of insulating material (like cloth or your legs).
I don’t recommend keyboard covers either, since a lot of intake for the fans go under the keys and in through the ports on the left side of the machine.
if i were their supervisor, i would fire them all. No hard feelings is just my way of thinking, in work you should be serious and actually work the whole time…ofc getting good money and having a good working environment is a must…but no serious company would do this kind of stuff in my eyes.
glad..at least, you had your fun.
You’ve never worked with gamers, have you?
Take a chill pill.
What really sucks is, because of the one sleeve, all gloves are cut to just the hand. This means that even if your awesome spiky glove is equipped, it’ll look like just a hand glove on the arm with no sleeve. Pity.
I can say with 85% certainty that the mac client will always be in beta.
Blunt, do not use the AMD website drivers. Macs have their own custom-built drivers that come via software updates and the original system install. Putting the downloaded drivers onto your machine might cause a severe drop in performance.
Because sometimes installed programs or certain system preferences can interfere with applications. It happened a lot in the City of Heroes port, which used the same wrapper as what we use now. Give it a try and see if it the client runs any differently.
Basically, this helps us determine if it’s a machine issue or a client issue. The new user account will be a clean slate.
" Veteran Karka have Champ level HP and can kill 20-30 players with a single attack, and Champion Karka have Legendary x2 HP, you’d think you would know why Southsun is underused." Vince thats a gross exaggeration. You only need about 5 people to kill a veteran karka. That may be true about the champion karka where the rich ori used to be but I dont think they are so cruel to make us face him again.
Prove it. Have you been hit by the Veteran Karka rolling attack? It downs anything it hits. If that thing lines up right it can floor 20-30 players.
Champion Karka have Legendary level HP. When you ‘defeat’ them they shed their shell and regenerate their entire health bar. Young Karka do upwards of 15k damage with their spit attack unless you block, dodge or reflect it.
It’s not a gross exaggeration. Why don’t you go back to the Lost Shores feedback thread and tell all of those people that they were grossly exaggerating when detailing exactly what I just said in their posts?
I hope the guild missions will be available in the whole open world, and not just Southsun Cove! Because i didn’t think it was fun fighting the Veteran Karka. They are more annoying (so not fun) than dungeon boss’s.
They’re spread throughout the game. We did add a bunch to Southsun Cove, though. Lot’s of underused space.
There’s a reason it’s underused.
It’s a major pain in the backside. When the Young Karka can kill someone with one volley of tail spit, Veteran Karka have Champ level HP and can kill 20-30 players with a single attack, and Champion Karka have Legendary x2 HP, you’d think you would know why Southsun is underused.
You’d think.
Southsun Cove was a colossal failure as a zone, as an event, and as an expansion. We don’t need things added to it, we need it changed to be less unfriendly to players.
Have you tried deleting the Application Support folder? It’s rapidly becoming a catch-all solution for many errors.
I’ve only ever seen one exotic drop since launch. This is across all 8 of my characters and 1300 hours played.
The males have the exact same single sleeve.
Have you tried deleting the Application Support folder?
Pretty much just what the topic says: Why do I have to give the OSX client system level (aka root) permission instead of just popping GW2 in my applications folder like any other normal application?
The Applications in OS X is owned by the System and requires administrative-level access to write to it. It’s a level of security in OS X: no software can write to the Applications folder (or other System-owned folders) without first getting permission from an Administrator level user.
But that’s admin level authorization. OP is talking about root level authorization. If you’ve ever seen that “I am Root, Obey me” shirt, it means that level of authorization is too high for an application.
It is near impossible to troubleshoot these issues without knowing your hardware.
I can guarantee that computer freezing is not caused by too-low amounts of RAM or VRAM. Chasing these as solutions will get you no where.
Use the “About This Mac” selection from the Apple menu and post your Mac model, OS version, processor, memory and graphics details when reporting a problem. Without knowing this, you’re just swinging at air hoping to get lucky in finding a solution.
Full system freezes aren’t caused by hardware, so there’s no point in listing it, to be honest. These system freezes are caused by the GW2 client according to my system logs; some exception is raised in the client that completely crashes the entire system. How this got past ArenaNet and Transgaming is beyond me. A full system crash with no option for closing the problematic program and it wasn’t caught during test? Is anyone home?
I don’t understand why some people think they’re going to run the game in a high-resolution window plus have room on their screen for the window title bar and OS X menu bar.
Because you can do exactly that in Windows, with plenty of room for the start menu bar and the client’s window frame.
FPS drops are never a server issue, they are entirely related to your end of the hardware.
Unless you’re running a Cider wrapper. 60FPS when bootcamping… 15FPS when running under Cider.
Obviously a native client would be nice but I doubt they will invest the resources when the current non-native version works very well. The benefits I don t think are worth the investment. I see it as the difference between a 32bit and 64bit application.
First, are we using the same GW2 client? I don’t know if you’ve noticed but this forum is filled with threads about how well the client doesn’t work. Second, we can’t even get a 64-bit app because the Cider wrapper is running under a freaking Windows XP environment. That’s right kids, we’re not even using the best OS in the Cider wrapper for this client and Transgaming won’t be changing that any time soon since that would require them to work. Better to just rake in the cash from their contracts and deliver a client that tops out at “meh, it runs.”
Saw a red Sylvari Elementalist girl named Cayennabelle.
Saw a Norn Warrior named Rockbutt Thunderface running around with a Norn Guardian named Rockface Thunderbutt.
Hollow, have you tried making a new user account and running the client from it? Had to do this with the Cider port of City of Heroes; if the client runs great on a brand new Admin user account but not on your regular account, there’s an issue with your main account. If it doesn’t, it’s an issue with the client.
You could make t6 mats with them, but considering it takes an ecto + a mystic coin, it is probably not profitable. And you’d be the only person going “five clovers in a row, I have such horrible luck!”
How would one do that? I have several from the jewelry boxes, and I’d love to know how to do something with them other than A) destroying them or
letting them sit in my inventory/bank.
Resetting the SMC basically reverts the machine to how it was, internally, at the time of its first boot. The usual usage of resetting the SMC is a hardware kink (such as the keyboard backlight not working or the orange/green charge light never changing). It can also be used to give the machine a kick in the pants, so to speak. Some of the symptoms on the SMC reset page:
-The computer is running unusually slowly although it is not experiencing abnormally high CPU utilization.
-Application icons may “bounce” in the Dock for an extended amount of time when launched.
-Applications may not function correctly or may stop responding after being opened.
It’s basically a total hardware refresh for the OS.
When i had my iMac I was playing on bootcamp all the time… there is virtually no game that will run better on MAC so why bother….
I know buy a mac to run Windows make no sense…that’s why i sold it!
Do you know what MMO runs way better than any other MMO on a mac?
WoW.
Why?
BECAUSE IT HAS A NATIVE CLIENT.
Huh. Well, no Orrian Jewelry Boxes for me then.
… I don’t want a legendary or Gift of anything?
I love how this thread has gone out of its way to prove the OP’s point. If you ever want to show how rude people are towards roleplayers, all you need to do is mention ‘roleplayers.’
Hender, give this a shot.
Create a new user account with admin privileges and try running the GW2 app while logged in to that account rather than your normal account. If the game runs, it’s a problem with something you’re running on your primary account. If it doesn’t, let us know, since that means there’s something with the app itself.
So basically you want to bypass the entire game, OP?
You’d be better off modding Skyrim.
How dissapointing… instead of raids we’re getting more mindless, super easy, open world zergs?
Please, please, please, please please please please stop trying to turn this game into every other freaking MMO out there.
Thank you. Good day.
