Long Live Atlas Park 33
Next time try pressing V to execute a backwards dodge. I’ve seen this a few times and that’s always fixed it.
Unfortunately nothing I can think of. I spent 3 hours trying to get my wife’s old machine to at least run character creation before we broke down and bought a gargantuan HP powerhouse.
Edit: You actually can’t replace the graphics cards on MacBooks. The graphics chips are integrated into the machine; PCs have a Motherboard and a Graphics Card. Macs have a Logic Board (integrated graphics/motherboard combo).
On that note, if you do end up springing for a new machine, may I suggest checking CostCo/Sam’s Club? I know you won’t find mac machines there but you can get a pretty beastly laptop for under 600.
So it’s again just another vanity thing.
I mean, you barely even see your own weapons even when you’ve got them ready. Why do people care this much?
I don’t know what you’re talking about, unless you’re playing an Asura. My Norn’s Pact Avenger is like a fusion powered buzzsaw diving board. I see it all the time.
Your problem is going to be the Intel HD 3000. It’s just not powerful enough to run the game decently. What you’re probably seeing is a lack of video memory to display the login. This happened to my wife on her old Toshiba with Intel HD 3000 until we sprung for an HP with an AMD card in it.
System specs please?
It’s not ANet’s fault. It’s Transgaming. I’ve posted this so many times it’s absurd, but ANet has nothing to do with the current performance of the mac client. That lies squarely on the shoulders of Transgaming, and all ANet can do is push them for updates (which Transgaming is horrible about doing).

What kind of graphics card?
Glad you found them. Enjoy your gold star
Uh, wow. I know the mods normally say “Don’t post this stuff here”, but jeez. That’s a little excessive.
That happened to me. I had to goto every single map to see which one I was missing. Turned out I was missing two instance POI’s in Rata Sum. Unfortunately there’s no easy way to figure out what areas the missing two are in.
Sorry, I overlooked this before my second post. Did those two POIs count towards Rata Sum’s total? If so, I’ve already gotten them, if not….WHO WHAT WHEN WHERE?! lol. I’ve already tried looking up vids, but can’t find one where someone has to go into an instance to get any POIs.
Hoelbrak, Knut Whitebear’s Loft in the Great Lodge (Instance)
Rata Sum, Engaged Demo Station (instance)
The Grove, House of Caithe (Instance)

Another good point here (bolded): Check the ‘home’ instances in every major city. They’re not exactly on the map, but they aren’t exactly off of it either. It can get very confusing. Happened to me in Hoelbrak. Took me 20 minutes to figure out that the POI in the Great Hall was behind an instance door.
Open Activity Monitor and look for ‘cider’ or ‘transgaming.’ If you see either, kill it.
A 2010 Mac Mini does not meet the requirements of the game. If you can play it, more power to you, but that machine is far behind min spec.
No, keys can be very very very very rare drops. It’s not a bug. It’s working as intended. They keep the rate high on the chests hoping to inspire you to buy keys. Or during holidays they hope to encourage you to buy keys for all those chests by putting very low chances at holiday skins.
It’s a cash grab technique by the company that’s all. It’s working as intended.

Cash grab you say, Mad King…? COULD YOU BE IN ON IT?
Just kidding.
I had a key drop off of a level 80 Ice Troll 2 weeks ago.
That a bug?
But you can still get them. In WoW, there were items that could only be attained and used by specific classes/races/players, usually numbering in the tens. There were items that took the aid of 40+ people to get and only one of those 40 got the reward. There were promotional items that you had to pay a lot of money for (and some people MADE a lot of money off of selling). There were items that dropped so rarely from 4-8 hour-long dungeons that only 5-6 people per server had them, let alone seen them. There were even items that were restricted to one single solitary player, never again being available ever (looking at you AQ mount).
Legendary weapons are just a lot of farming, which anyone can do. Time consuming? Yes. Restricted to only a handful of players? No.
Main hand Shield, offhand Spear. PHALANX!
Shadowscamp, I gave your suggestion a run-through last night and I have to say you knocked it out of the park. I’m currently running Sword/Mace ~ Greatsword and swapping to Sword/Shield for tougher fights. The ranged knockdown attack is excellent and the vulnerability attack stacks well with On My Mark. It’s really fun to see an enemy try to run for my wife and put it down with a shockwave from over 1000 feet away.
Thanks for the suggestion!
(Also sometimes I swap to Axe/Mace just for kicks when farming in Frostgorge.)
He said you don’t have to do the dungeon story mode to get the token.
Which is wrong. You absolutely have to do the Story Mode of Arah in order to progress to the final mission of your personal story, the celeberation in Fort Trinity.
My primary reason for wanting to hang on to my shield is the Reflect Missiles while Blocking trait. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen a Veteran/Champion wind up a projectile and quickly wall up behind my shield. This one saved the backsides of myself, my wife and 3 other players in Fireheart Rise taking on the Champion Flame Shaman at one garrison. He flung some big wind-up fireball, I bounced it, and he killed himself with it (it hit for about 32k, critical).
I hadn’t considered the option of Offhand Mace, though. That brings up a really good option for crowd control AND some added Weakness on top of my On My Mark! shout.
Here’s what I have going for me:
0/20/20/30/0
With Sword/Shield:
-Arms
—-Deep Cuts: Bleeds last 50% Longer
—-Opportunist: Gain Fury when applying Immobilize
-Defense
—-Missile Deflection: Reflect projectiles when blocking
—-Shield Master: +90 toughness and 20% Shield cooldown when using Shield
-Tactics
—-Empower Allies: +70 Power to All in range
—-Lung Capacity: 20% faster Shouts
—-Vigorous Shouts: Shouts heal
With Greatsword:
-Arms
—-Rending Strikes: 33% chance for Vulnerability on crits
—-Forceful Greatsword: Might on Greatsword crits, Greatsword skills are 20% faster
-Defense
—-Embrace the Pain: Gain Adrenaline when hit
—-Last Stand: Balanced Stance on daze/KB/KD/stun/launch
-Tactics
—-Empower Allies: +70 Power to All in range
—-Lung Capacity: 20% faster Shouts
—-Vigorous Shouts: Shouts heal
6- Healing Signet
7- For Great Justice!
8- On My Mark!
9- Shake it Off!
0- Battle Standard (every time I use this my wife roars “WARBANNER!”)
Your idea is fantastic because I can easily heft an offhand Mace without needing to alter this build much, and without too many trait re-picks; I can just use my Greatsword traits in Defense when using an OH Mace since I won’t be using a shield. I think I’ll give this a try tonight.

The same thing happens with the gear at the base of the Pact Avenger greatsword. In preview and the Character screen the gear turns. In game, it does not.
It’s so sad. Elementalists are just one word away from summoning Captain Planet.
All Sylvari females make this face that makes me think elevator music is playing in their heads.
So I’ve been clunking around on my iOS build planner and I’m having a hell of a time finding a build that satisfies my weapon combo choice: Sword/Shield with Greatsword swap. I know that I want at least 20 points in Defense, since I very much enjoy tanking (my wife is a Ranger and I like to keep the heat off of her— her less-than-smart Sylvari treehound can go take a hike though with all the aggro he pulls).
Anyone have any advice and/or ideas for something like this? I just picked up my Pact Avenger and I want to cut some heads off while still being able to back out, swap weapons/traits, and re-enter a fight as a brick wall rather than a guillotine.
You need to read up on how Transmutation stones work.
Here’s a basic rundown:
-You use the Stone and put 2 weapons in the slots on the menu.
-You select the top items, which determine the looks of the weapon.
-You select the middle items, which determine the stats.
-You select the bottom items, which determine the bonuses/sigils/upgrades.
-Click Transmute, and you have an entirely new weapon.
It’s a lot like Thunderdome. Two weapons enter, one weapon leaves. I’m sorry you lost your Exotic, but that’s how Transmutation stones work and you have no one to blame but yourself for not reading up.
Considering the historical origins of the “witches on broomsticks” trope, the face she makes is not only absurdly appropriate but incredibly hilarious.
Don’t google those origins at work, by the way.
That sounds like a problem with your computer, LZ. I’ve never had that happen with any Elder Scrolls game.
Yup! Apparently Trahearne forgot to put out his welcome mat. Silly plantman.
I played WoW for years, too (until GW2 came, and played GW1 as break from wow). But WoW had many carrots on a stick: farming raids for better gear, weapons. Dungeons for achievs, rare mounts, legendary weps, arena ranking with horrible pvp…
Those aren’t carrots on sticks. Those are smelly gym socks on slinkies. I’m glad there’s no such thing as raid farming and super-uber-only-ten-people-will-ever-get-them items. It makes the game a pain for casual players since they know they won’t ever get the chance at the “cool” stuff.
You know the pathway to the airship? It has the giant bubble in the middle where the Submarine area is underneath? Go there, hang a left at the bubble and you’ll see a giant gear door. It should allow you to enter an instance. Hargrove, the NPC, is inside.
If that’s true then why is Yak’s Bend Local Time set to PST (Seattle, where ANet lives)?
Turn your volume up and listen to what your character says. On my Norn, I picked Bear as my patron animal, and during a fight I hear “I can FEEL BEAR’S POWER!” On my Human I picked Grenth as a patron God, and occasionally he’ll spout off something about Grenth’s blessing.
I’ve yet to do the Arah story mission but as you say that shouldn’t matter. Done everything up to having to kill Zhaitan though.
Then you haven’t finished your Personal Story, and you won’t get the token until you do.
hey vince! just wanna ask a quick question – what will be your use of proceeds? and depending on that, there are multiple ways to make gold.
My three biggest things are my alts, my wife’s alts, and my craftsmanship skills. I’ve never maxed out a Craft in any MMO, so hitting 400 Weaponsmithing was a big deal for me. Armorsmithing is next, but I want to be able to fund my other characters and buy nice gear for my wife and her characters when I want to. I’m not looking to craft a Legendary or stockpile Exotics (barring the Exotic weapons I make when the mats add up— those are fun), I just want to be able to have a stable financial footing across my whole account.
Thanks for the advice, all of you. I currently have 2g on my 80 Norn Warrior and with 7 alts to feed, that isn’t much. I think my major problem is that I don’t really know how to work the TP, and that all I know about the Mystic Forge is that it’s the big glowing tornado toilet in Lion’s Arch. Everyone keeps telling me it’s a potential cash cow but to me it’s just that place where the Genie steals my items.
Then PM it to me or something.
Hell, it could even be as simple as “hoard Orichalcum and then sell it in a huge batch.” I’m open to any ideas here.
Not a thread about exploits. I’m a very casual player, so is my wife, and I’m not really that great at making cash in games. I thought I’d ask if anyone had any tips as to making some quick gold/silver, especially since travel is now 3s+ per waypoint at level 80 (far too high, IMO).
Hey guys if you’re getting error code 7:1000:7006:836:101 specifically then as a temporary workaround, as other players have noticed, I would unlink your mobile authenticator from your account until this gets worked out.
We appreciate your patience with this issue.
Honestly, I’d prefer the DCing to less account security. I’ll manage.
The Intel HD graphics family just wont cut it with a game like GW2, especially when using it through the TransGaming Cider wrapper. So yes, your GPU is to blame. It’s just not beefy enough.
Washac, I had this exact problem about 4 months ago and after digging in the console, realized this was due to kernel panics from a failed logic board element: my graphics card. I strongly urge you to take your machine to an Apple Store and have them run a logic board test. They ran the test on mine and reported a failure. The board needed replacing and they did it for free, since this is technically a defect and not a user damage scenario.
You have to select the bottom box too. You can’t ‘skip’ out one of the items’ aspects.
My Charrdian (guess what profession HE is) is named Orran Ironspine. Iron Warband, known for having a ridiculous amount of fortitude. Orran, I feel, follows the ‘guttural’ naming convention mentioned above. Of course, I rolled him way before I read this thread, so go figure I knock the naming convention out of the park before knowing it existed.
Thanks for the insight, Sarisa. I’ll save up my next 10 points and drop it on Tornado and let you know how it goes.
So I just hit 30 on my Asura Elementalist and dropped my 10 SPs into an Elite Skill. Decided to run an underwater heart and realized I couldn’t use my Elite underwater. No biggie, I thought, I’ll just see what Elite I can use underwater and save up for it.
Turns out none of the Elite Skills for an Asura Elementalist work underwater, meaning my character will never be able to use an Elite if submerged. That seems a little unfair.
They don’t want you making fart jokes anymore.
Will a battery pull break the app?
The SWTOR Mobile Auth breaks if you do that ‘Encounter an expected error. [followed by a force close]’. Which means people who had to do this would need to call CS to get the authenticator removed.
Blizzard’s app doesn’t do this, neither does RIFT’s or Google’s.
What do you mean by this? The authenticator services are third party— it’s not like it’s running directly from your phone, it’s relaying info from a server.
This is fantastic. No more worrying about my account.
That’s not a bug.
Yes to both.
Human, somewhat short.
I just want to know why Flame Jet constantly misses stationary objects.

… you guys HAVE to bring back the Dhuum bans, except make it Grenth. Beautiful. Thanks for your hard work, ANet.
