I think because they use exp boosters and food, exilers, guild buffs and farm non stop. Also they probably didn’t spend anytime whining in forums.
If this makes you rage then you really need some anger management lessons.
Bare in mind i have been playing HoT since it’s release quite heavily. Primarily focused on leveling my Mastery’s to complete the Story.
The main highlight personally was the Boss fight though tbh. Very refreshing from what we got previously with Zhaitan >.>
Please tell me how far are my in if i’m on act 13, that’s not spoiler right?
That’s like 20 hero challenging with core map compeletion , in fact a lot of people playing already unlocked the whole elite spec.
Take a step back to realize that even on day 1, people are already realizing the game for what it is. That’s bad news from a development perspective. Your point comes with its own built in counterargument, you know. If on day 1 we should accept that it’s too early to call it grind, then conversely, on day 1 it should certainly not feel like grind, and unfortunately, to many of us, it does. Take another step back to realize what it’d be like to unlock something as basic as a spec on multiple alts. Now take another step back when you realize that even with all this grind, you are still expected to find a large group of people that happen to want to kill the champion mob that is required in order for you to get 10 measly little hero points out of a pool of 400 in order to unlock the elite spec for a single character.
Why call it grind? You can just level up mastery playing regularly, you can literally level most needed mastery for exploration without repeating the same event twice. Grind is doing the same content over and over, this is NOT GRIND.
The fact that it’s already feeling grindy by the first/second day is a bad thing
Again if that is grindy to you then what is not grindy to you, you don’t have to farm the same events over and over again and you don’t have to stay in verdent brink.
Same here, having a blast playing HoT.
It’s not your place to tell people that their opinion is invalid.
Different people have a different threshold for when something becomes a grind. For you it doesn’t happen in a day. But for others it may only be a few hours. Or they’re thinking that when they get to their 5th alt it will be a grind and are speaking up now.
It’s not your place you tell him that his opinion is invalid about his opinion on someone else’s opinion being invalid.
Although I do not have HoT, it still has an impact on my gw2 “experience”.
They removed most (if not all) guild upgrades from the core game and put them into the guild hall which is only acquirable for HoT owners.
No HoT expansion = no guildhall = no upgrades = no WvW claiming.
Thank you Arenanet.subzero/10
Dude you can enter Guild hall even you don’t have expansion
10/10, been having a blast. If you open a thread like this in offical forum you know what you will get dude.
Offical forum is known for its toxicness.
I think it says volumes that even with the gating, the story was this small that people have already beaten it. I hope it’s at least impactful as you suggest it is.
What? How much story do you want? Tell me any any mmo with story that you can’t beat longer than this, oh wait, other mmorpg don’t even have personal story.
Back to the topic, I’m currently on act 12. Not sure how far that is in the story but I am having a blast, the story was one of the best I have played in video games.
Actually no Metoidvania games are not beloved by all, especially not if they feature too much back tracking, such as requiring stuff from the end of the game to unlock functionality in the start of the game.
For example, having fat frog mastery requirement for hero challenges in the first zone, when said mastery requires traveling to the last zone to get.
When what it unlocks is functionality to play the game, and not a bit of customization, fluff or easter egg?
That is bad design, (and yup I actually have a degree in it so yeah.)
People hate backtrack because you have to walk all the way back, in the case of GW2. Just click wp and glide down.
Anet give in. It’s better to have people play the game and have a positive experience than to never finish it with a negative experience. Please think of your players.
This exactly^^^
Just because a very few vocal minority want to get pounded to death every time they turn a corner doesn’t justify the difficulty of some of these mobs. Particularly the way they seem to dogpile on one person when facing a group. There needs to be some soloability in a game where you spend 90% of your time solo.
Actually the majority are playing the game, people complaining on forum are vocal minority.
I’ve already stopped playing all PvE content because of the grind. It’s a huge disappointment to me how they did this.
You have No idea what grind is if you think this is grind. You literally don’t even have to repeat content.
Levi M, thank you for your contribution. I said, “As a WVW/sPVP player there is no way… to get enough hero points to unlock the elite specialization without playing the content that is being ramrodded our way”.
In simpler terms, give WVW/sPVP players an alternative way to unlock the elite specialization that isn’t PVE focused.
OMG again Anet added a way to get hero points in wvw. Just level up in wvw and you get your hero points.
Why do you assume people want it in a week?
It’s just an example, meaning people want progression to be done in a very ahort amount of time or they rage on forum.
Never finish it? Mastery is account wide, if you can blow it through in a week then what is the point of having this system. People wanted progression and here is one. Were people complaining new gears require you to play the actual game to get?
Most complains I’ve seen are about hero points, not masteries. Big difference.
If no hero points are required or too little are required then the hero points system will be non content that meant nothing. Some of the points are hard to get because of mastery, but mastery is account wide so you don’t have to level it up twice.
That doesn’t make sense. The elite specializations are content regardless of the hero point requirements.
I’m talking about hero points system. People don’t appreciate things they easily get, and this is honestly not that hard to get in the first place.

I think the grind is insane personally. A nerf however isn’t the option. Options is the solution.
Spitit shards to HP.
higher amount from WvW
That way those people who don’t want to farm masteries right away can use spirit shards for elite specizalation, play how they want to unlocking the masteries, then on ults do the HP if they desire.
No nerfing, just solutions and options
The thing is , is it really grind when you don’t even jave to repeat content? I leveled to lv7 just by exploring and did not go back and releat a single event.

This happens every time, don’t give in to people complaining. People will complain about things they can not finish in a few hours and theu find many reason to justify how they don’t want play the game but want evwrything unlocked.
Anet please stand your ground, if you nerf it. The same people saying it took too long and grindy will leave in a week while yelling expansion is too easy and there is nothing to do.
Exactly, people should just play the actual game.

Loving the story, my charr voice and dialog are so cool. I love hoe your character speak a lot in both instsnce snd open world. Also I knew that my character id not s goody to shoo, becaude he literally at onr point said:" I don’t trust anyone". I was like ohhhh snap, I’m so kitten.
WoW, no one care about actual non whining thread it seems.
I don’t see how xpac is rushed, having a blast playing it. Story is mind blowimg amazing.
I’m sure you know that the forums represent the critical and vocal minority of players
Really?
People on forums are the most caring players, otherwise if they don’t like something, they quit without even writing anything.
P.S. the way you write these posts are too obvious. Please do something about fixing this rather than having anet employees/friends write stuff like that.
Not true, offical forum is knkw for being toxic and overly negative about everything, if you want see true caring loving gw2 community go on reddit.
Because people are focusing on playing the actual game?
I don’t see the problem of just one of many encounters being dps race as long as it’s not all. Boss timer is what makes this boss challenging, most group wipe because of the timer. Without it the boss would be super easy with tanky gears.Again this is only one encounter, we don’t know if next boss require everyone to survive 10 minutes under heavy fire and everyone need tanks stats or something, let’s not judge the whole raid because of one mechanic of the first encounter.
This is the FIRST encounter of the FIRST wing of the FIRST raid, Other encounters may require different mechanics.Needing damage for specific encounter is fine as long as it’s not all.
Also this belong to HoT discussion.
But you need condi damage and people building toughness so not everyone is zerker?
This is the first boss of the first wing, also it’s not like people face rolled it. It’s fine I would say. Maybe make it slightly hard.
Most people saying they want hardcore, but they don’t actually. Fact showed that when it comes to hardcore content, most GW2 player base just ignore it when it’s too hard.
#Charr is love, Charr is life.
We will be in HoT content anyway, so why does it matters.
I have seen this quite a lot, people keep caring about number of maps. I want to say that numbers of maps doesn’t really matter. It’s all about density and replayability , Anet could probably make 20 Lonar’s pass size boring and unoriginal maps but that is not what they are going for. As long as the new maps are dense and fun the numbers really doesn’t matter. If people are still not stasfied with how MANY maps in HoT, then I suggest Anet to split every HoT maps into 2 or 3 maps(for ex. split Verdent Brink into 2 average size maps), there you go guys you got your 10 maps expansion.

I love the gliding and I feel it’s so fun, The points your mentioned are not a problem for me. Some of them can just be solved by level up mastery.
It’s really astonishing how narrow minded and stupid most people are on this thread maybe even the entire forum.
“I have no problem with those enemy therefore everyone else should not have any problems with them, too.”
You’re inability to realize that people are different and may have technical problems too is digusting.
I really hope ANet does NOT listen to any of you.
So you are saying the game should reward people that are not skilled or aren’t paying attention? Technical problem? That is not the game’s problem, you might just as well say that to everything.
Yeah…not liking how hard hitting these things were. Doesn’t help when there’s a cluster of them and I have to tell them apart from the other Mordrem types quickly or get downed. And I was playing as a celestial-ish Reaper with Berserker weaponry.
just place down wells and they just die, nothing hard about that.
Having a sniper spawn behind me and killing my zerk tempest in 1-hit is so ridiculous.
The only place I take zerker gear off is on Arah, WvW, and PvP. Since the snipers are a white common, I’ll have to add HoT to that list since I have to assume that snipers will eventually spawn behind me when I’m talking to npcs or something.
Its hard enough to get casuals with zerk gear on dungeons. Anet forcing cheap gear on people so they can survive HoT will make casuals with zerkers even rarer.
But you kill them just as fast if not faster, that is the risk reward of using zerker set as it should be. There use to be no risk for high damage, now that’s changed I am farirly happy about it.
I too is loving the new mobs, they are finally worth while enemies now. But having said that, some of the AI are broken,. For example players doesn’t aggro pocket raptor with long range attacks.
It’s a beta and it’s not meant to let players experience bunch of content but simply to test out bugs and let testers to provide feedbacks on the game play.
I’m having similar issues. There are some areas near pois where I pass over and the entire screen goes black (no idea why?)
And is it just me, or is the server crashing frequently or freezing? My skills will stop for a whole five minutes before it either boots me out or continues.
For that black part, it’s a cave entrance with missing textures. I been playing since the beta starts and never experienced freeze and crushes.

The AI is a little awkward. It’s a little unclear how you spend the points but then have to “charge” it with experience.
I don’t know what you mean by AI but how mastery work is you select the track you wanted to level up and when xp bar reaches max you can spend mastery points to unlock the mastery.
Then the expansion might not be for you, feel free to contact support and try to get an refund.
If you go around saying things like that to people that have had a negative experience you are going to be a very busy person. The whole point of beta events is for people to provide feedback on their experience. You may not agree with their point of view, but they are still allowed to give feedback. Snarky remarks like yours really contribute nothing to the forum or the beta feedback as a whole.
It’s not about him having a negative experience, he said he regret his purchase decision. It’s consumer rights to refund purchases that they regret buying. There is no ill intention in I’m suggesting him to do what he wanted to do.
If you can’t tell the difference between, "starting to regret pre-purchasing " after giving feedback on something significant they found unenjoyable, and someone saying, “I regret pre-purchasing”, which was never said, I don’t know what to tell you. I’m not going to argue with you anymore so as to no longer derail this thread.
Then I am sorry to misinterpreter your sentence, back to the topic of mob density. The mobs can be easily avoided with glider after you acquire it and it should not be hard to pass then on land with swiftness. So I think the mob density is fine.
Think we can close the thread, the OP has gone from “sniper OP” to “I have bad internet” nothing to see here.
Mobs aren’t OP, refreshingly you need to pay a little attention.
are u a moderator now? who are u dictating if a thread should be closed or not? OMG the people are getting toxic. I have to right to my opinion. If i think a mob is too OP then i have the right to say so and give anet my feedback. after all, i paid $100 for the privilege. if you don’t like my feedback, well that’s just too bad, no one asked you to comment here. Just b/c i didn’t mention my it latency in the fist place does not give u the right to be calling for thread closure.
But you changed your mind, when people offered solutions to the mob you responded with “I have bad internet” and so THAT is the problem not the mob design. We just need to be clear where the problem lies, your bad internet not the mob. Otherwise we give bad feedback.
This so much this.
The fact that you’re the one getting aggressive when people have given you clear and solid advice, suggests that it is you who is toxic, not everyone else.Vigorous Raven, I would ask you kindly to get off my back b4 i report you. You’ve contributed nothing to this thread other than attack me personally and i suggest u cease that now.
How is he attacking you? If what he said counts as attacking then you are attacking him too. You are the one being aggressive here.
Some of the damage seemed a bit low. My only major complant is that you can’t move and use the 2 skill, it makes me feel like a sitting duck while i’m trying to fight competitively to have one of my lowest recharges make me stand still.
I’m fine with not moving while charging skill 2, but the skill needs to do higher damage than current . The skill is meant to be doing high damage with limitation, but the damage currently is just mediocre.
I’m not an elitist, I am actually a casual player. But you are simply not playing your class properly. Simple as. Because of this reason your “feedback,” isn’t as helpful to anet as you seem to think it is
Agreed with this.
I don’t understand threads like this. Not to be rude or anything, but this is a L2P issue. You have many tools under your belt to combat these mobs. The best being dodge, which everyone has the ability to use. All those mesmer reflects should be pretty great too.
Why even have dodging if the game doesn’t warrant using it?I really wish Anet would find a way to make a nm/hm work.
Well u ARE being rude by using L2P to demerit what i’m saying. U don’t know anything about me, but are quick to judge, not just you but many above you. I’ve been playing since game release i know how to play, granted not familiar with these mobs yet or the tools i was using, but never the less, thrash mobs should not hit that hard regardless. And i know how to dodge tyvm. I’m sick of hearing those words from you people, as if you’re the only ones who know about the dodge mechanic doh! My problem is, i can’t react faster than the mobs coz i have huge IT latency issues, i bet u never considered that huh? If Anet wants to keep catering only to top internet connections, gw2 is gonna get empty pretty soon.
We know quite a lot about you, we knows that you don’t know how to use reflect properly and that you do not know how to dodge at right time, we also knows that you do not know to burst down high priority target. Really just a L2P issue.
Setting the tone, if you are running berserker, the zone will be much more damaging than you are used to. Running Glass cannon carries some risk now.
Snipers are fine.
No they’re not. snipers are fine is ur opinion, mine differs. Trash mobs should never be that op where u have to use all ur recourses to beat them, especially with the huge numbers of these trash mobs everywhere, even during the day, night time is ridiculous.
Oh no, the content requires players to do planning before engaging and actually think things through and requires skills. So OP nerf plz.

The pacing now is fine, If Anet do change it. I want it to be slower and not faster. We need real progression that will last months.
