They seem a bit OP to me too, but if someone can tell me something I’m missing that would be great.
Dealing with them on my own is easy enough, but the biggest issue imo is that unlike other dangerous mobs (teragriffs, etc) neither they nor their attacks seem to have very much visual presence, so I don’t notice them in big events until I’m lying on the floor in three intersecting not!Fiery Rush trails. If I could tell them apart from other humanoid mordrem mobs or if their attacks had bigger tells it would feel manageable, but as it is now they seem kind of cheap.
Otherwise I’m loving the rest of the enemies in Verdant Brink.
The thing is they have very little health so it’s really easy to burst them down and their projectile is really slow.
They are ridiculously OP for melee characters … almost certainly trivial for ranged.
They also have really low hp and are weak to cc/blind.
That would make the map easy again, and taking away the whole point of new maps. Which are actual challenging open world content.
Just dodge. Problem solved. Really obvious attack animation and a red mark on your head. Just dodge at right time and they are really not a problem.
That’s not an issue, This is only a small part of the map and we don’t have story. It’s not a problem when expansion launch.
And that’s a good thing, this game need some challenge.
There will never be a dedicated tank or healing role in the game. That was one thing they simply wanted to avoid.
However, if they implement guild raids, the need for support oriented characters will likely be a requirement. You could bring full support characters or everyone could adjust their builds to be more supportive. I doubt there’ll ever be a need for a full defensive geared character however, since that only promotes poor play when there’s action combat. Taunt and kite, evades, blocks/etc will be how you “tank” in GW2.
That is straight up not true, Colin stated in POI that they WANT tank and healers in GW2. They never said they don’t want tank and healer. That’s quote.
Dude, we are still in beta and only got about half of the skills. It’s way too early for judgement.
Same thing happend to me, I was playing on my alt and got 5 PM in 3 mins after I step in LA. Almost kittened me off.
Why I live in Canada . Working at Anet is like my dream.
Actually the current meta is STILL zerk because icebow still exists. So don’t go on saying burning is OP when it isn’t even close to the strongest thing around.
That’s not true, Ice bow is nerfed.
If you guys don’t know, burning is ridiculously op right now. You guys should really try it out, deals much more than zerker. With burning build as op as it is, I don’t see why people would want to be a mortar zerker engie as all you do is spam 1 until your finger dies and it deals less damage.
As you all know that burning is a bit over powered right now(I’m talking pve). It deals way more damage than zerker for certain classes(Engie, guard and ele). I know Anet is probably planning on nerfing it, please do not. Burning is way more fun than zerker.
Here is My old Rotation: grenade-111211121112
My current rotation:f2-4-f3-f4-z-4-e-x-x-f1-c-1-repeat.
Stack burning requires way more skill than zerker and is more rewarding, which is how things should be and it just makes pve way more fun and engaging for me.
PS:I’m fine with nerfing guard tho, burning stacking on guard requires so little skill for it’s damage output.
I know burning is currently the most op thing in game, and I know it must be nerfed in order to balance the game. But please do not over nerf it, we engie player been waiting to play condi engie in pve for a long time, and I am really afraid that Anet will nerf burning to the point it’s not viable again.
With full set of sinister you can do up to 50k(without vulnerability) burning in less than 3 second. It is the most op thing I have ever seen since the game launched. Now I just hope Anet does not overnerf this.
My build: all sinister stats
Krait runes
20%buring duration and 10% condi duration sigil.
traits: explosive, firearm and invention focus on condi of course.
Use dual pistol4, bomb kit2 and flame turret tool belt for fast stacking burning. then spam Grenade kit for lots of crit(the trait burn when you crit)
(edited by warbignime.4610)
hmm wow i gotta go check that O_o i been doing dungs all evening to lv my ranger and honestly i didnt noticed them any easier than before
I think it’s only for 80s, we just got more trait points and huge buff to condi, but monster hp remain the same.
Anet please buff monsters, with this update players deal way too much damage for mobs and bosses. Teq died in 5 mins with non-organized zerg, Shartterer died in 20s exclude wait time, Fractal became a joke(even high level) as everything just dies so fast. Anet needs to adjust monster hp and damage. Right now pve is just straight up broken.
unless things have changed, then as far as we have been told, there will be no boxed version
There will be standard box version but no cllocter.
No, people who bought gw2 in last 6 month get refund and people who have the game before HoT announce get a slot.
You are NOT buying the core game again, you are buying HoT for 50$ regardless. And Anet is kind to give you core game if you are a new player. Geez.
I haven’t yet, because I’m not sure where to pre-purchase a boxed version (I like having a physical copy). It is much nicer that the character slot will be granted, but if I have to wait until after launch there isn’t much skin off my nose since I bought a slot for a Rev long ago anyway… though the lack of veteran perks (I don’t do Betas) for standard to pre-purchase compared to newcomer was a reason why I wasn’t even considering it before.
There will be no box edition as dev stated.
As Galie said in this Reddit thread. You get 2 character slots if you bought the deluxe or ultimate version. Just to clarify things.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3ar3gb/prepurchase_community_address/
So uh, I should request refund for ultimate then I guess? I bought it for the char slot which was an extra 800 gem worth and now that’s gone; it’s better just to go base version of hot now. Lame. It’s awesome to here they did this but for ultimate purchasers this can be seen as a bit disappointing… :\
You get two slots if you purchase delux or ultimate.
As we all know condi is being buffed, should I invest into Sinister gear? The problem I think is Engine is kind of weak at stacking condi so I really not sure.
Does GW2 work on Win10? because i’m thinking of upgrading.
Yes you should have one beta slot on character selection.

I can not believe someone saying they are not going to get 50$ of entertainment out of a MMORPG, really?
Still missing the point.
What’s wrong with waiting to see how much content there actually is before buying the expac? Some people like to blindly believe what they’re told, some like to wait until they have real concrete information.
I’m fine with people waiting to make decision, but I just can not stand people who just straight says HoT does not worth 50$. Maybe MMORPG is not your thing and you can not get 50$ worth out of a mmo expansion. But you can not tell me or any other people that they will not get 50$ worth of entertainment out of HoT.
Anet hasnt said how many maps we get
It’s never about how many, Anet could make 20 Lonar’s pass size empty maps or split verdent brink into 3 maps. It’s about quality.
Bought 100$ version, best deal ever for 2k hours of entertainment and possibly 2k more.

The people complaining on forum, I can guarantee you most of them will but HoT they second they hear people talking about it after release. This is what happens every times.
Of course, because most people are simply wanting to know that the expansion is worth that $50.
It’s not so much the price, as the information about the product.
When will people who are defending Anet and the pricing realize this?
So since what they want is information… when HoT comes out they’ll have that information from other players and reviews. So yes, most people will end up buying it.
Those who aren’t buying because they can’t afford/don’t want to pay $50 for any kind of expansion will end up not buying it until it becomes cheaper – likely a couple months after HoT’s release, unless sales are terrible or we hit some seasonal sale (anniversary, holidays, etc.).
I can not believe someone saying they are not going to get 50$ of entertainment out of a MMORPG, really? If that’s the case then MMORPG is just not the game type for you. Also 50$ is half day of work at minimal wager, the only ones that can not afford it are students.
It’s not going to happen any time soon. Port pc game to console is huge work and they are busy working on HoT. I’d rather they work on more content.

OMG, people are still going on about this? Have you ever played wow,ff14 or any non f2p with expansion? They all do more or less the same thing, and those are p2p games. You also should not buy any new release video game in the future too cause eventually they go on sale and you spent way more than new players. Gosh.
It will likely keep going until ANet says something about it. Then there will be responses to that before it calms down. Depending on what they say will determine how quickly or how much it dies down.
This is already diving down, there are way less people complaining than a few days ago. Also here is a fact , majority of players are happy with pre purchase. I’m not talking about people on forum, I’m talking about people in game. Just go in game and ask at lion arch or any other major hubs. The majority of response I got are positive. People who are unhappy with the situation are more likely to go on forum and complain.
Then why when I asked in-game most people said they wont buy it as is?
I am taking screen shots right now for a survey, and I will make a thread for it later. Wait and see.
It’s all going to be fine in the end. I hope…
I’ve spent enough time on the forums to have seen this cycle so many times. This one though has really got me down on the community, so I’ll probably be staying off the forums. If anything is going to push me out of GW2 it’s the idea that by playing GW2 I’m associating myself with these whiny, entitled children.
Actually most people in game are happy with pre purchase, I did survey on multiple city hubs and more than 90% of people seems to be happy with the pre purchase. People who are unhappy with this are more likely to complain on forum.

I have no recourse. I can not request a refund. And even if I could, all the money I spent on gems would be POOF. Gone. So whatevs. If you’re trying to get me to change my mind about purchasing HoT because my feelings are somehow wrong on this matter, gg. It didn’t work.
It is your own problem for not keeping recourse, also gem can be refunded if purchased within 30 days. No one cares if you want to buy the expansion or not.
You’re playing a game where everyone has the same animations for almost every skill. It’s borderline impossible to make a Martial Arts class.
Nothing is true, everything is permitted.
Better include specs in the core game too and while you are at it why not include new maps in core game too.
You could get refunded if you bought the game within one month. Dev will upgrade your account to HoT version without losing progression.
Not what I heard. My understanding is that you lose everything in the process of that refund, including accrued gems and character slots. Then you have to start from scratch with a fresh account and five blank toon slots.
The OP of that reddit post made another thread about this to clarify but did not get nearly as much attention, do more research about saying random stuff.
You could get refunded if you bought the game within one month. Dev will upgrade your account to HoT version without losing progression.
….is pretty fine to me.
Look at all the things we are getting with HoT.
- Elite Specializations
- New weapon for each class
- New post level 80 leveling system
- Rumored 5 new zones with 3 “sub-sections”
- 2 Zones dedicated to Guild Halls
- Guild Halls
- New Class
- New WvW Map
- Various new WvW mechanics
- New sPvP Map
- New sPvP Mode
- New Confirmed Challenging ContentThen later on down the road….you’ll get Living World Season 3 and 4, if we assume that it’ll be 2 season between each expac. You also get more feature packs, and more balance patches. You could sink hours upon hours into this expansion.
That is awesome for just 50.00
Does it suck that only new players really get a bonus item? Sure, but that doesn’t mean the price of the expac should change for us veteran players.
I do think a character slot would be a reasonable bonus to veteran players though.
PSSSST
How much did Anet pay you to start this thread?
I happen to be hiring a social media reputation manager where I pay you to make me seem honest and reputable
OMG, how dare he don’t agree with people raging on the internet and tries to burn down Anet. He must be paid.
It’s just anet trying to see if people are willing to buy a 2 in 1 feature pack patch for 50usd. Cos after this there will be no base game/expansion differentiation. It’s all just a 50usd patch ^^
Comments like this makes me question humanity, you might just as well say that to every game dlc ever.
To be honest, I don’t want the character slot as much anymore. I want the same what other new buyers are getting. A key for the core game. I could use it. I will have 5 slots and also give me chance to get the daily chest to recoup any costs for character slots. Yes, that’s what I want now. I want to get what I paid for. I shouldn’t be denied what I’ve paid for even if I already gotten it. If that’s the case, then everyone should only have 1 of everything. Such as a computer since paying for a 2nd is meaningless since you should only have 1. Same goes for tv, cars, etc.
You just make a new account?
This thread is so corny it made me cringe. But I’m glad you are happy, you are in the minority I think however.
Lol. You know the majority of the players are just logged into the game and not on the forms right?
I know as much as you do about the true percentage of people who are unhappy, that is why I said, “I think”. But all evidence points to the majority being unhappy in some fashion.
You know most people who are happy with this are way less likely to go on forum right?
What people don’t understand is no expansion offer the same amount of content as the base game. Look at ff14 and wow. WoW base game is 5 $ and WoD is 50$, why are people buying that. FF14 heavensward have no where near enough content as base game yet it charge 40$. Plus those are p2p games, they charge an additional sub fee, people are just not use to paying for gw2.
I am sitting on the fence right now and watching how this debacle unravels before I make my decision on the expansion.
This has become a huge media storm:

I want to know how ArenaNet would respond to this, or if they do respond at all.
Anet don’t have to response, they have done nothing wrong. People are just over reacting.
Do they have to respond? No. Should they? Yes. Even if the response is to tell the complaining players that nothing is going to change. And even just to say that they’re still discussing the options and have to weigh how easy the resolution is to apply, especially to those who have already purchased the game. And the latter one needs to be restated every few days.
1. Not responding means the side that wants ANet to go further has hope that things may change. Because nothing concrete has been said. This is especially true given ANet’s lack of communication on anything they are doing with the game. So they post and post in hopes to sway the company to do something in their favor.
2. The longer they don’t respond, the worse the damage from the event will be. And you can only discuss it for so long before players will think they’re just stalling to let the worst of the storm blow over before they pop out with a resolution. Especially if that resolution is not what those upset are looking for.
This is not even as big of back lash when ascended gear was introduced. People were saying if they put ascended in the game this game will die. We all saw how that turn out.
I totally agree with what you’re saying, and its why I won’t be buying HoT.
First of all, I think its pretty silly to drop $50 on a game we know so little about in the first place. For all we know, these new maps could amount to 3-4 hours of actual content. Thats unlikely, but its possible that they’re not much larger than Silverwastes or Drytop.
Even if it were cheaper, I would wait at least until a release date was announced.
But selling it for $50? I’m not really in a place right now where I want to just spend $50 on a pass time I might play 3-4 hours a week, at most. And to fully enjoy it, I’d have to buy it twice so me and my wife could play together.
Use a program called Tryia 3d to check the collision data of new maps, go see the land masses, Then come back.
It really doesn’t matter how big a map is if there isn’t much to do in it. It all depends on what the events are, so that really doesn’t matter.
There were a close beta which should give you some idea about the new areas. They are pact with events and beautiful structures.
