I love how people in this thread debate over power versus condi meta, while it doesn’t really matter to anyone in this thread like at all.

The DPS difference is only slightly noticeable if you are doing perfect rotation and is capable of playing your class well. Which most people on the official forum probably are not capable of. This discussion is pointless.

People seem to think it’s an advantage they stack to 250. How’s that an advantage when you’re finally sitting down to ID that stack? Getting hundreds of useless blues and greens at a time and more green sigils and runes than you’ve ever seen before?

It solves nothing. It just postpones the misery, plus it adds a fee and a few extra steps of busywork for good measure. It’s an absolutely awful prospect.

That doesn’t make any sense, it is more convenient.
1000 gears comparison

Old system: salvage all 20 times-go to merchant 20 times
New system: Wait until 4 stacks and go to merchant 1 time-salvage all.

How is that not more convienient?

Why not just id them then, it’s not even that expensive, you would almost always net gain with the drop rate.

Please link the stats that you draw this conclusion from. I haven’t seen any conclusive evidence for “you would almost always net gain”.

If you get green or blue it about evens out and rare dropped 2/10 for me, even it’s 1/30, you would still gain plenty profit.

As several have said, it is both space saving and a gold sink. The unidentified item could be basic garbage or a precursor…you won’t know until it’s ID’d. But, taking my example of over 5,000 hours played and no precursor, if I start ID’ing all that gear (hoping to finally get one), I just lose money, cause the items are barely worth more than the cost of ID’ing.

Here is something to note: it is silly for loot to be one way in the expansion and different in the core game. Which means, if this is the route they are going, they will be changing core Tyria’s loot to be on the same system. All of the named exotics will increase in price tenfold.

This is not even true, you will always net gain when id gears with high MF, rare drop is quite common not mentioning exotics.

Please link the stats that you draw this conclusion from. I haven’t seen any conclusive evidence for “you will always net gain”.

Have you even tried id them? rare droped 2/10 for me. Even if the rare rate is 1/30, you would never lose gold.

Hiding potential precursors or even Ascended gear in stacks of mostly unidentified blues and greens is just WRONG! That will force most players to identify everything or worry that they might have salvaged a precursor. Ascended gear is not even supposed to be salvageable without a special tool, and precursors should not be either.

PLEASE Anet at least have two types of UnID gear that filters out the useless stuff from the potentially valuable stuff. Both types should have different ID costs as well. That way you are truly gambling on the type of exotic you might get.

In the current game, there’s a certain level of inconvenience with the loot system, sure. It never bothered me at all though.

This new system fails because of the following: you can chose to have even more inconvenience (ID it, then go through every step you currently have to go through) or less inconvenience paired with loss of potential income (salvage it). You can’t chose to stay at the current level of inconvenience.

Anyone who doesn’t have an issue with the current system will be worse off with the new one.

The unids are trophy drops that are converted to loot when you pay 1.68s, nothing more. You get TONS more materials by salvaging them directly.

I’d rather have regular, pre-identified pieces of loot instead. Ones that don’t clutter up my inventory because I can salvage, sell, or store them, whichever I chose, wherever I am, without the aid of NPCs.

Really? So you miss out on like 50% more materials and have your inventory cluttered by minor sigils and runes? Because you can just salvage the stacking unid items without seeing an NPC ever. Like, you can have 40,000 of them in your inventory at once and then just salvage the entire lot at once and your inventory will not be full of anything but materials.

Don’t project your own issues on me. My inventory doesn’t clutter because I manage it with all the options already provided by the game.

This abomination adds a new layer of inconvenience. Instead of just processing my loot, I will first have to go somewhere and pay for it, and then I WILL STILL HAVE TO DO THE EXACT SAME THINGS WITH IT THAT I ALREADY HAVE TO DO NOW.

Sure, I could just salvage it, but what I really want is to just go on doing what I do now. I don’t want to have to decide between gambling and salvaging. I want the game to decide what drops for me.

If your inventory doesn’t clutter, then you don’t play GW2 enough.

What you mean inconvenience? With this system you can go to merchant less often, its added convenience.

Gamble? Really? That doesn’t even make any sense, “I want the game to decide what drops for me”, id is the game deciding the drops for you, what is the difference between regular gear drops.

I like how most people in this thread doesn’t even understand or know what the system does just start bash away at Anet. It’s hilarious. And some people even said they refunded their pre-order over this which made me legitment lol.

1.Gears still drop regularly from mobs
2.unid gears are a lot of mats if salvaged
3.the rare and exotic rates are not bad if id
4.You can save up like 20 stacks and id them at once, is doing heart once a week a problem for you? seriously?
5.It helps with inventory clutter a ton

Most complaints from this thread are pure assumption and false information, like stop bashing at Anet before you even know what the system is. Although that is asking too much from forum.

Request- Strafe for Mounts

Take it from one who has years of experience with mounts in other games. They should move in a manner exactly corresponding to your character navigation. I have a modified wasd shifted one key to the right so that my little finger rests on ‘a’. ‘s’ is strafe-left and ‘f’ is strafe-right. When I press those keys the mount should move in a manner corresponding to how my characters move. I’m not saying that a mount should ‘feel’ like a character just that they should navigate exactly like a character.

No they shouldn’t and this is not other games. What you described was weightless, lifeless reskin of superspeed, current control of mount is way better, it adds weight to the control and makes you feel like actually driving something.

As noted in another thread, raptors strafing would not break realism. Birds can move sideways so why do we conclude that their ancestors could not? I’m for the 180 turnaround working, too.

But if it stays the same, I’ll get used to it I’m sure. Not a huge thing.

Realism is a small part of it, its more about adding weight to the controls and mount itself , otherwise it doesn’t feel alive.

– Now , they break fractal community by includ raid content in our daily fractal (cm100) ; something already impossible to finish once in 30hours is comming to be our daily ??? wtf… ppl from fractal are already leave away from these fractal…

Just best stupid idea ever…. thx anet.

I wasn’t very hyped on mounts but they added the GW2 twist to them which makes them worth it.

One thing I’m really disappointed with is the lack of a homestead option. I have previously suggested a way to do this is to have a story where the player along with the other members of Dragon’s Watch capture a special guild hall intended to serve as a player customizable space and story hub for future stories. Players could interact with other members of Dragon’s Watch on a regular basis.

Well, to be fair. Commander is in no position to get a homestead for Dragon watch right now, Dragon’s Watch is literally in shambles, everyone either is avoiding commander, occupied or throwing temper tantrum, the active member is just the commander and…….. Taimi count as half? I think?

Story wise it goes LSS2>HoT>GW2>>>LSS3>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>LSS1

S2 had a decent plot with a good bit of sleuthing and trying to figure out what the hell is happening. HoT may have been super short and you-know-who’s death was an incredibly stupid case of Fridging, but Canach’s there, and maybe the short length helps the good bits really shine—also, the little of Treehearne we see is absolutely fantastic. GW2 suffers from many problems I’m sure you’re aware of. S3 is all over the place, with threads going everywhere or being snapped up short.

S1 had Scarlet. That alone kitten s it.

PoF versus HoT?

That’s pretty much my whole thing with PoF and the reason I won’t pre-purchase. Does it stand on the shoulders of GW2 and extend it or does it take us down the path of Dry Top and HoT. I won’t buy PoF if platforming and puzzles are required to advance the core game.

Edit: Yes, JustTrogdor, forgot to mention I’ll be looking for the absence of densely packed, annoying mobs as well in making my purchasing decision.

Yes, let’s just hand players everything on a silver platter without effort, what an awesome game design idea. Let’s make open world open plain without any challenge, that seems a great idea.

Dude, a game without difficulty and challenge is not a game, that’s called an interactable tour/visual novel.

Better yet, let’s just make up imaginary straw men to argue against so we don’t have to pay attention to what other players actually say. Not intellectually lazy nor creepy at all.

Meanwhile, back in the real world, it is indeed possible for players to dislike the designs of Dry Top and Heart of Thorns while still desiring content that’s challenging and entertaining.

Whether Path of Fire will offer that or not remains an open question, but the answer to that question will never come to those unwilling to ask questions at all.

Oh, really now? He’s arguing against difficult mobs and platforming, which are literally the only two aspect that makes open world challenging. Without them, imagine on your way to this epic journey, stands nothing but flat plain and mobs that pose no real threat to you. It’s so awesome and epic.
If Anet did not make the open world of PoF at least as challenging as HoT, it will kitten me off. Not mentioning HoT wasn’t even that hard in the first place. And from the footage of the demo, im glad that’s not the case.

It seems like 90% of what ArenaNet works on is QoL or mechanics, and very little content. This patch was not heavy on content (you can complete every solo PvE thing in a few hours), in fact it was very light on content. It is apparently that ArenaNet struggles with producing content, maybe it is time to stop working on QoL changes and focus the team fully on content that the majority of players play, that has been lacking for 2 years now, HoT was super light on content, this patch was super light on content. Adding in large long grinds is not content, it is just mindless repetitive drivel.

But the thing is without introducing new grind, no matter how big the map and story instance is, player will be able to finish them in a few hours. Dev can never make content fast enough to keep players in game without grind, and that is true for every online game.
