I am sitting on the fence right now and watching how this debacle unravels before I make my decision on the expansion.

I want to know how ArenaNet would respond to this, or if they do respond at all.
Anet don’t have to response, they have done nothing wrong. People are just over reacting.
Even if they decide not to do anything, they should respond and say so. Simply hiding their heads in the sand would not make this debacle go away.
Because Anet are not stupid and knows not to talk with raging people on the internet?
You are thinking too much about this, try to just have fun with video games. The whole intention of video game was to have fun, shocking I know right.
I mean you have guild hall in hot,so like enjoy that.

So the purpose of this thread is to tell us you are not buying it? I can not even. Stop making pointless thread like this.

OT, yeah the Ninja edit of the FAQ is bad. I’m sure a lot of people saw the sale as a good time to get the game ready for the Xpac, hell I even convinced a friend to get the game as it was so cheap. An I told him there is an xpac coming out. It says you need the base game to play it. So he got it there an then. He was planning on waiting till the Xpac came out to see if there was a deal.on the base game and Xpac.
LOL, I like how you rant over a simple sentence. There’s a mega thread go post there.
Ummm, I mean you can stay in guild hall. That’s pretty relaxing.
Just make a new account, problem solved.
Could people around here get any saltier?

Here is a common sense: do no argue with raging internet mobs.
Anet is not stupid and they know not to speak to raging internet mobs.
You also should not purchase any single player games ever again since I can guarantee you they provide less hours of entertainment than HoT.
Meh, that “guarantee” is worth less than a pile of small cats’ dung.
Based on everything ArenaNet has told us, HoT is basically a glorified DLC that other games would have sold for 10$.
Add to that how it appears it will be basically grind over and over (even the process to enter its beta was through grind), and sorry, but no. I can hardly think of a game that would give less hours of entertainment than HoT.
Between that and this, well, it’s not surprising that people right now have a very good idea of what their money is worth.
So you are saying you will not get 50 hours of entertainment out of HoT, out of a mmorpg? You are raging and saying random stuff, read their blog post and think again.
It blows my mind how some people feel the need to defend a company that since january has been scamming people into buying a product they wouldn’t need.
Forget the fact that they consider our money, the existing player base, to hold less value than that of other consumers.
They scammed people. They falsely advertised the game.
And the only thing they are doing is offering a refund? For people that so happen to come to the forums and read a distant note? For people that actually take the time to go through automated emails until they can reach an actual person?
Again, it blows my mind that people would defend such practices.
And since this company is so scumy, why not quit playing this game. And since you quit, can I have your stuff? Just send all gold and t5 mats to the id at the left ,ty.
Flame wars need to stop i can see. People (customers) voicing the opinion on thier product shouldn’t stop whether good or bad.
There is a difference between constructive criticism and people just start raging and demanding things. And we all knows the post on forum and reddit are which one.
I already bought it and living a happy life unlike other people who are raging and complain. If you don’t want it don’t buy it, it’s that simple. Also this community has gone mad recently, I suggest you stay away from forum and reddit for a while.
You know what’s funny? most people in comment section are defending Anet. Goes to show how mad GW2 community became. Sad to see but the problem is on community not Anet.

I simply want ANET to know this, I will not purchase HoT for more than $20. I also will not purchase any more gems until the price drops.
I know i’m one person, and this stand won’t change anything, but it’ll make me feel better about the situation. Good luck playing HoT all. Imma continue to play vanilla and enjoy having $50 in my pocket.
You also should not purchase any single player games ever again since I can guarantee you they provide less hours of entertainment than HoT. Better quit gaming in general.
(edited by warbignime.4610)
so whats the funny part? :o
That people are raging over something they have no idea about and silence after they seen the actual product.
Do not argue with angry internet mobs, this community has gone mad.
And to make matter worse Chinese version was just release what? year ago? now think if they release this expansion next year at the same price they bought it for.
LOL, let’s be real here. Chinese server is like dying, publisher just don’t care about players and there are hacks everywhere. They are straight up selling legendary as last breath cash grab. Chinese server will shut down in a few month I can guarantee you that.
Brilliant thread, everyone should read this.
Here is a common sense, don’t talk with raging internet mobs. Anet just waiting the rage to dive down.
Then you don’t buy it, why make another thread like this when you know there are hundred others. Mods merge this please.

Hey, sorry for your losses. But mind sending me your stuff and gold to the id at the left?
Couple of mistakes you made. I corrected them.
“There you go people, are you guys happy now that we have 20 new really tiny maps instead of 3 the size of the silverwastes.”
Have you seen Verdent Brink? go check out beta footage on Youtube.
Here is a datamined picture of Verdent Brinks, with Dry Top and the Silverwastes next to it and Brisbane on the far right.
It was rescaled on mini map to give you a better picture, that is not the actual map size. You can use Tyria 3D which to check out the collision data.
If you say so, though I don’t see why they needed to do that when they don’t do that to any other maps. However, even if it was twice as big, it still wouldn’t be huge and still couldn’t easily be chopped up into a maps of worthwhile size, which is your contention.
What? the map is pact with amazing and entertaining events, have you actually seen the beta footage? Do more research before say something like that.
Also the mini map was made by fan, which he took verdent brink and slot it onto the in game mini map. It’s not the actual size. Like I said use Tyria 3D and see for your self how big the map is.

You guys should compare WoW expansion reveal to HoT
Yes lets compare to the company that over-monetizes every product they ever made. WoW with a monthly fee, cash shop, micro-transactions and indirect gold buying and they still top it off with paid expansions… so where is that sub fee going? Sure as heck not to content updates as there have been some droughts of over a year.
Or HotS, with it’s overpriced champions and even more overpriced skins.Anyone remember Diablo3 and it’s real money auction house? And lets not get started on Heartstone. I think SC2 is the only game Blizzard has that is very reasonably priced and monetized. But that might be because they make a ton of money from the esports aspect so they don’t squeeze the consumers as much.
Diablo III Reaper of Souls came with a full new campaign (not as long as the original four acts, but arguably better than any of them) a new profession, two free character slots, a free stash slot, the adventure modes and the nephalem rifts. This, along with the removal of the AH, the whole revamp of the loot system and the later added seasonal ladders hughely improved a game that was in critical condition. I did almost tripled my time with DIII after the RoS expansion, and I find it totally worth of the price.
I don’t finf HoT equally appealing. No new dungeons, no radical changes in the WvW scoring system, didn’t like Stronghold, no new slots to level the Revenant (the whole star of the expansion). The best part is the Guild Halls, but I can wait months for price cuts and get access to that content later.
Ros campain is like 2 hours, also hot brought way more feature than what you mentioned, guild hall, mastery, specs, new class, new region, adventure. yeah it blows Ros out miles away.

OP you crazy. Anybody whose been following Heavensward knows SE has been sharing just about everything about the expansion that does not involve story spoilers.
They are adding
New race
3 New jobs
Flying mounts for aerial expansion area
plethora of new dungeons
New raids
A bulk of new story
level cap increase (new skills and traits for all classes)
New primal encounter
etc etc
And the price tag on Heavensward isnt even as high as HoT but players know what they’re getting and certainly not throwing a fit about the $40 price tag.Folks havent seen much of HoT compared to HW. So its completely logical that everybody isnt just throwing their money at the screen.
And how much sub fee you spent on FF14? Also those doesn’t sound like more than hot at all.
The Sub fee gets you patches that GW2 players could only dream about. Not even an exaggeration, take a look at FFXIV major patches. I’d almost wager that they add more in a single major patch than GW2 does in a year. The level of polish is also something that ArenaNet could simply never achieve.
As for what HW is bringing…it’s far far far more than HoT. 1 class vs 3, easy win there. HoT is bringing 1 region that’s 3 maps? HW is expanding land mass by 150%, even if HoT has more zones do you really think they are adding 150% of current landmass? The sure bet is that they aren’t, so FFXIV wins again. Trait specializations vs 10 new levels, I’d call it a wash. Glding vs flying mounts? Again a wash. Guild Halls? FFXIV got those in a patch… New SPvP mode? FFXIV is redoing PVP. New WvW zone? Well you got FFXIV there! FFXIV is also getting 50 hours of main story content, GW2 at launch barely had that so I doubt their expansion does. FFXIV has 2 new primals, GW2 doesn’t have anything remotely close to it. FFXIV is getting 8 new dungeons, GW2 cut it’s dungeon team so likely nothing. FFXIV is getting a new Raid, GW2 might be getting a raid. FFXIV is getting FC workshops, airships, and air ship missions; GW2 nothing similar. Don’t take my word for it read the HW pre-liminary patch notes:
http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/topics/detail/e76258d6487ea30feb388f9ecc0a926fddc9eca8
If you haven’t played FFXIV at all, you cannot imagine the amount of content in that game. I’ve played MMO’s since EQ and Ultima, FFXIV hands down has the most end game content and variety. It also has the most personally challenging PvE. If you wanted to do all the dailies available alone you would spend probably 3-4 hours easy. Honestly, it makes the GW2 endgame look like a horrible work camp. The only major issues in FFXIV are PvP and class customization. The combat system is borderline, I can certainly see some preferring GW2’s better. I hate paying for subscription, but I can say that you get what you pay for and then some.
I played FF14, reached gear cap on my paladin the quit. Let’s face it the questing in FF14 is terrible, it almost drove me insane at lv40 ish. The problem of FF14 expansing land mass is the repayabllity, most of those land mass are levelong content ehich you only do once. Most of them are standard fetch quest too and simplified version of dynamic events, they are far easier to make than gw2 maps aka they lack depth compare to gw2 maps. Number doesn’t matter, quality does. Also most people will not go there again after leveled to max so does it matter how much land mass they expand?
people don’t understand map count don’t justify how much fun we can squeeze out from 3 well designed replayability focused map for lv80.
It is useless to get 100+ maps where they clone the same stupid mechanics over and over. True value behind those HoT maps are the whole maps aimed for 1 target, the meta event. Everyone is pulling their own weight to get it done and the replayability is much higher than any of the core map as a sum can provide.
Exactly this, numbers don’t matter yet people are going on and on about how many.

WOW provides a lot more content for $50 for starters.
I don’t think there is $50 worth of content, and not providing a character slot for that is effectively a huge “kitten you” to the whole playerbase.
But the main reason I won’t be buying HOT is that I don’t think the content that’s come out in the 2.5 years since release has been any good, so I don’t really see much value in investing any more money into the game when it’s not providing content I’m interested in playing.
It’s that simple.
Since you are no longer intersted in the game. Can I have your stuff?
Can you stop asking stupid questions already ? If you can’t comprehend the idea of why people are unwilling to lay down 50 – 100$ for an xpack,so be it…But when people reply to you with Their Reasons..and your reply is ..Can i have your stuff ? That’s just pretty kitten stupid kid.
I don’t see what’s stupid about it, he said he hasn’t been intersted in gw2 content since release, so why is he playing anyway. Also I am actually being serious about wanting his stuff, I mean he is not intersted In this game at all so why let all those mats go to waste.
No,it’s the typical reply when someone says he’s not interested in this game,or willing to quit…Always some fool jumping in..Can i havez your stuffz instead of properly replying to what it is he was saying,i think it’s foolish.
Well, what he said is he is not intersted in this game at all. Do you think he is actually discussing the topic? I ask him for his stuff. It matters not to me how others use this sentence, that’s what I meant.

$120 yearly for sub. I easily spent three times that on GW2 with gems. Major content patches in XIV every 3 months more than justify why its the only recent MMO capable of maintaining a p2p along with older established titles.
Also its off topic. I listed some common knowledge additions to a game that isnt shy about showing what the consumer is getting. This is the big problem with HoT, and why again everybody isnt that happy to immediately buy HoT right away. I know what im getting for my sub. Can you say the same about HoT’s price tag? without a doubt?
is it REALLY worth $50 with what you’ve seen of it so far?
You spent sub fee just to play the game and you get nothing eles, you spent gems to buy items. It’s different. Just like buying hotdog, you give him money he give you hotdog, no one own each other anything. You just can’t compare sub fee to gem store it’s two different thing.

Honestly. I dont think some people can quite grasp what the whole three biomes thing actually means. They hear (oh hey there 3-4 maps) and they convince htemselves theres ONLY 3-4 maps worth of content inc omparison to whats out now.
Ive even seen people under the impression that verdant brink is the only map…(had a good laugh on that while at the same time being repulsed at how terrifying it is that some people actually believe that.)
It doesn’t help that I’ve seen it misquoted as ‘Anet announced there will be 3 maps’ far more than I’ve seen people say all they’ve told us is each map will have 3 levels. I’d also hazard a guess that some people don’t know what a biome is and that confuses things.
But even knowing how many maps there are wouldn’t actually tell us what most people really want to know which is how much content there is. If every map is like Southsun, with one short event chain, 2 short jumping puzzles, a few unique crafting materials and not much else it’s going to be disappointing even if there are 20 maps.
Whereas if they make them like Silverwastes or Drytop, or even like the original maps, where there are multiple kinds of content all going on at once and most/all designed to be replayable we’ll get a lot more out of it even if there’s only 4 or 5 maps.
The biggest problem at the moment is that we simply don’t know. We’re being invited to pay for the expansion but don’t know what we’re actually going to get.
Well, look at all the forum post and reddit post, not one is asking for quality or size, everyone are just going on and on about how Many, that’s why I made this thread. Seems like most people are focusing on How Many.
It seems like all people care about are how many maps, they do not care about the size and quality of the maps. Honestly Anet just saperate all the huge maps you made into smaller one, for ex. split Verdent Brink into 3 maps since numbers of maps are the only thing these people care about. If you don’t, I guarantee you that there will be countless thread just whine about not getting enough maps.
There you go people, are you guys happy now that we have 20 new normal size maps instead of 3 extremely huge ones.

You guys should compare WoW expansion reveal to HoT, or even ff14 heavensward. Most of MMORPG are vague about their expansion too, there are no weekly live stream about the content neither weekly detailed blog post. Just check wow MoP reveal page, all they did are listed features and a very short portion of the reveal video and that’s pretty much it. How much more do you guys want? Anet won’t tell you every detail neither but that’s the same with every game expansion ever. People are having ridiculous expectations and it bothers me.

Fair enough. But so you are making a thread telling us you will buy HoT at Xmas? What? I really don’t get the purpose of this thread.

Spend 50$ and buy your friend expansion, price of friendship. There you go
Of course we know the relative amount of content, this is such a stupid argument.
Will HoT have the same amount of content as regular GW2? The answer, short of a logistics miracle is no, far from it.
So why would an expansion, where short of many people short circuiting their common sense to white knight ANet, be priced at the SAME price point as a full game release?
If you can sit there and make an argument that HoT pricing is fair and good, relative to every other game/expansion on the market, then you’re either fooling yourself or on the ANet marketing dime. ESPECIALLY when you consider all the benefits new players are getting, while those who’ve sunk time into the game (and let’s be honest, beta tested for three years ANet’s terrible balancing scheme for free) and money/gems to fund HoT in the first place, are basically getting the bird from ANet.
I certainly won’t buy any edition of HoT until the price comes WAY down, from what I’ve seen of all the content streams and release videos, HoT Standard barely merits a $19.99 price point, with the Ultimate Edition maybe meriting $60, and only for the gems. Its even more of a ridiculous kick in the teeth that “Standard” doesn’t include an extra character slot for the Revenant which is pretty much the core new feature that every one wants to play with.
It has nothing to do with the cost, its the principle of the thing, in the same vein as the paid mods scandal on Steam just recently. And I will also say that if ANet doesn’t release a fair expansion only option for three year veterans (of which I am, plus GW1 since beta), then not only will I not but HoT, I’ll uninstall GW2 entirely and never look back. The tactics of ANet lately have left myself and many others with really bad tastes in our mouths, and this latest expansion debacle is just icing on a really “icky brown” cake.
Want it, have money for it, Buy it. Want it, no money for it, save up money.Don’t want it, don’t buy it. It is that simple. All the arguments and rioting are getting ridiculous.
Also you sound like never bought MMO expansion before and you never played WoW.
So fabulous …. (o.o)
