ascended weapons (ele) d/f or staff first?

Personally, I like staff more, and seems to have more benefits for Fractals, since you can place fields for control/support at will, not to mention the high AOE damage output.

But it is GW2, your personal playstyle matters a lot. Go with what feels right for how you play.

Seriously, why are we still able to cheese our way though Golem Mark II by standing on a box?

XD I highly doubt someone designed that boss with electric fields to dodge and so on, and then said, “Y’know what would be great? If people just avoided all that and stood on a box spamming ranged”

Seriously, I can’t possibly think why removing a box would be so hard. Not even mad at people exploiting, more embarrassed for Anet for not making such an obvious fix.

There are little things like that, or Shatterer’s hill, or even some of the cheese that goes on in dungeons, that really seemed like easy fixes, but have yet to be resolved.

And honestly yeah, I totally dismissing people asking for stuff not to be added. Seems a bit mean spirited to not want others have something just because I may not like it.

then you completely missed the point of my post, where i said that… you know what, here’s an example:

ANet designer Bob has 3 features he really wants to work on with his team: masteries, profession specializations, and personal housing. however, each of them will take a year of development time, and they only have the money for two of them. ANet designer Bob must pick two, and put the third one on the backburner.

ANet designer Bob chose to push personal housing away in favor of masteries and specializations. now he can either work on personal housing, or in other new features that came up within those two years of developing.

when a player says “i don’t like this, so i don’t want it”, they’re saying “i don’t like it, so i don’t want it to be taking development time from other things that i might like more”.

what you’re doing is being arrogant and assuming your option is superior, because why can’t i have personal housing? those people that don’t want it can just not use it.

So what, I should say they should remove PVP if I didn’t like it, so those resources could have gone to content I actually play? Seems mean spirited to me.

Not saying Anet doesn’t have limited resources. But I am saying the fact that a feature make take resources from another is a poor argument.

This game will always have content that people don’t want, or actively dislike. They’re allowed. The poor thing to do is to say “no one else shoudl have it”

If Anet truly cannot muster the resources for Housing alongside it’s existing gameplay that is an entirely different story. But one entirely seperate from our own opinions.

Put straight: me not liking apples doesn’t mean id like them to tear the trees down and grow grapes instead.

the difference is PvP is already there. housing isn’t.

you can argue in favor of housing, but you’re being petty if you won’t let someone argue against it because they want something else.

=_= not even my point. Whatever man.

Requires cooperation all the way through, does a good job of managing mob mentality while still providing some challenge and yet remaining relatively un frustrating, great loot.

And dunno, it’s an MMO. You fight things, do events, get loot, rinse and repeat. Part of the experience really, even in the least grindy MMOs.

Well we don’t know much about what other tools it may have, a big overarching weakness will just be it being very different kind of character.

Legend management? More directional control needed? Energy management? We’re going to see a good part of the inevitable deluge of new revenants just not knowing what they’re doing.

Not to mention having to really figure out a more advance rotation to use a Revenant to its full effect.

Yeah I’d agree, taunt implies a whole aggro mechanic that isn’t in play with that ability.

In RPGs a taunt usually, well, makes enemies more likely to hit you, not just in wow, but in other RPGs like Final Fantasy.

Not that they can’t establish their own nomenclature, but they don’t exist in a bubble. If I had no idea, I’d assume taunt would increase aggro not reverse fear.

That said, not sure what a better alternative is.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Aggro

Aggro system been in the game. you just have no way of seeing it.

This should have been obvious to players that play Elementalist,Engineers or Ranger, by now, because Bears, Trimmer Turret and Earth Elementals have natural taunts already for holding Mob AI aggro.

Denial is heavy now that Anet added a player casted taunt…SMH

Never said there wasn’t aggro in the game, well aware of how it works. Just said this taunt function doesn’t directly influence aggro like it does in most other games, thus potential confusion.

A good example is when Street Fighter V gets shown off. Even if they have top players playing, they’ll usually normally nonsensical moves, not because they suck, but because they’re trying to show off a specific move or stage gimmick.

the problem is your tone, that dismisses people that would rather have, say, masteries, than personal housing.

“look at those goofs, asking for a feature to not be added just because they don’t like it”.

Just from what i see. I think he’s not trying to dismiss people who want more masteries. But he’s saying everyone has a right to want what they want and ask for it. So while one side might ask for more pure PvE content the other side can ask for housing. And if Anet as a good company can handle it well both sides can get what they want without anyone suffering. And that saying by getting housing you’re losing out on more important stuff is just as kittenaying by them working on masteries we’re not getting housing.

Make sense?

This.

Doing stupid pointless things with our abilities is just part of MMo really.

In b4 for the “don’t like it, therefore, we shouldn’t have it” rush.

when there are only so many resources a company can spend in features, it’s entirely logical to say you don’t want them to work on a feature you don’t like, because that’s taking time, devs and money away from another feature.

game development is a zero-sum game. you can’t just have it all, you need to pick what you want to work on.

Kind of a confusing response.

I’d like housing to be in the game, as a personal opinion.
Recognizes some do not want this feature, and would argue it should not be added due to this.

Response: Anet has obvious budget and limitations that may not fit what Anet is currently doing.

I dunno, seems a bad response.

Like, I could say I don’t like PVP, and then argue that PVp shouldn’t exist because it takes money away from other game modes. Which you could mistake as true.

Simply adding x to a game doesn’t mean y suffers.

And seriously, Anet, all developers, or the good ones at least, can budget this stuff out.

Again ,lots of other MMOs have housing, some very robust. This doesn’t directly hurt the other content in that game in terms of resources. I don’t hear of WOW losing a dungeon because they added barracks.

Hell, with sales of Gem Store items for housing, it could very well enhance other content.

Let’s be honest, if we’re saying housing should or should not be added, it’s opinion plain and simple. If anet bungles their budget that’s their issue. If they can comfortable add housing without affecting their other parts of the game, why not?

I love housing in, well, all my games. While I understand the potential drawbacks, I feel like Anet could really make an interesting more socially viable version given the chance.

That and, frankly, all the other completing games are doing it. FFXIV, Old republic, wildstar, even WoW’s Garrisons. Clearly there’s interest, and a space to compete with that Anet could really innovate on.

That and, gw2 is a pretty cosmetic game. Having a place to decorate seems a logical progression IMO.

And yeah, lunar hound more or less nailed,p it. Seriously, someone mail that to Anet.

The Walk of Shame

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: yanipheonu.5798

yanipheonu.5798

This really needs to get addressed. The problem is, waiting for a Rez is a trained response for a lot of new players.

Throughout most of your levelling expereicnes, if someone is nearby, you let them Rez you. Experience points and no need to WP, all good. Suddenly a new player gets thrust into a situation where, despite their previous conditioning, people are yelling at them to do the opposite, due to a mechanic which is not explicitly stated as part of the game in-game.

I’d call for some civility, if people aren’t wping, they aren’t necessarily leeching or bringing down the team intentionally; it’s just a conditioned response for many.

Clearly the intention was for rezzing to be more ideal than wping, and ideally, it’d be like dungeons, where you can’t WP unless you fully wipe.

… It’d suck for a few reasons, but it might be an option for wping to just not work if you’re in range of a world boss. If you scale, you stay, as it were.

But that itself is problematic, just closer to it’s intended purpose. Perhaps a lighter touch ,such as WPing being available but having adverse sidefeffects. Maybe a boss gets slightly stronger each time you WP from death. You can come back and fight, but too many people do it, and you’re screwed. Suddenly rezzing becomes more viable. This could be a good balance, where wping is good but cannot be abused or be the end all solution to death.

It’s not an easy problem to fix.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

There needs to be ways for certain items to not be tradable, be it for economy reasons, or making something challenging to obtain. Anet intended for Carapace Boxes to only be obtainable through their respective events. Bare in mind there are collections based on these items, and a challenge they clearly didn’t want to be won through trading post.

NPE Personal Story: Needs to Go Away?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: yanipheonu.5798

yanipheonu.5798

Here’s the thing, as much as you may like or hate the levelling storyline, the bigger issue is that it may increasingly get in the way to new expansion content.

New races will be harder to implement if you must create new storylines for their respective personal stories.

As we get further in GW2’s story, the original story of Zhaitan’s defeat will become less necessary to the following events. Imagine if we’re three expansions in, and we’re still starting with Zhaitan’s defeat, while new races and classes continue to make the story make less and less sense, and we’re already walking over an Elder Dragon corpse or two.

We’ve already seen problems with the ruined Lion Arch in personal story, for example. While some implementation of phasing may provide some fixes, if Anet wants to keep changing things, it’ll continue to make less sense.

I dunno, it’d suck, but maybe it’s time to let that part of the game die. Ideally it’d be nice to just make a whole new personal story, but that would be a huge undertaking. Still, if Anet was up for it, maybe if we get a second expansion or something, I’d love it.

But perhaps if they’re looking for more endgame than levelling experience, it might be best to let if fall by the wayside.

As much as I can see, it is only stated in GW2 wiki. And this wouldn’t be the first time with GW2 wiki having false/unconfirmed/misunderstood ’’facts’’.

Eitherway, I am not awaiting Anet to give any special connections between the lore and the class as no calss in GW2 so far, have had any actual impact in the story.
