m8 :/ alacrity is an elite spec exlusive mechanic/ buff like facets on revs, like got(kittening)l that druids bring the fact that alacrity doesnt benefit thieves should not mean that mesmers should not have alacrity or alacraty should change in any way. It means thief needs a rework something that would make this an actuall class that requires some skill rather than standing close to boss and semi afking while just dodging and aaing.Alacrity is fine the way it works your best bet atm is to w8 and hope that the next theif elite spec will do something else other than aaing

Social is fine you can simply stop moving and dps at max aa range if you are using some meta food like seaweed salad just move back and forth facing the boss so you dont hit your allies or if you can stay ranged do that / poison fall in the same category if you cant keep the boss stacked somewhere just focus on being at max range for aa and you will be fine me as a mesmer i actually like toxic trail it help on clone generation and sirvivability.

I can’t say much on the first subject, but yea, A PTR is a basic demand that anet hasn’t yet answered to. Maybe we can make a new topic for that
I do not see the point of a PTR if they do not have enough people to monitor it carefully (yet another thing to monitor!!!).
The so called need for a PTR only comes from a selfish feeling of “I am not the prime tester and want to be”. Most activities on PTR for other games is to provide a common platform for streamers and bloggers to have their article/guide ready for launch. Only a few of the testers are actually helpful for the real testing part. Anet chose to focus on those few players and select them beforehand.
Because it may sound surprising but balance patches are tested. And guess what, the testers are not more or less stupid than other players. They know the Meta in different activities, they have different level of gameplay etc etc
If something you don’t like goes live, it is not because it was not tested, most of the time it was intended. You may not like the shift in the paradigm but still there is a big chance that the devs knew what would happen.Actually what is funny is that by the alacrity nerf they said they nerf the value instead the duration because the solution would have been to bring 2 chrono. By not nerfing the power but the duration of quickness they must have known the effect would be that players would bring 2 chronos. They just let it happened, contrary to the time they nerfed alacrity.
Why did they let that go through is the actual question, and I must say they failed to answer it with the two lines header in the patch notes.

the prt’s reason of existance ina game is so that nerfs and changes that greaty affect meta or playstle of classes of raid fractal compotitions pvp builds can be tested freely by everyone before it actually goes live so plp dont lose their kitten when the patches are live.In ptr servers ppl talk give feedback streamers and youtubers present the changes to ppl that cant for reasons join the ptr so they can then suggest feedback saying that its only a tool to make guides is pure ignorance.
It does make sense, but this will probably lead to: 1 war, 1 chrono, 1 druid, 7 ele…
Like I said, some Balance Changes need to be done then if we go this Route but I see this as a good Step in the Right Direction.
And if Anet stops nerfing Classes not called Eles and stops buffing Eles we could see more variety. ( together with more Skill Splitting which also would make Balancing easier )
The original reason Anet didn’t want to allow 10 man buffs was because it would lead to 1 comp that could stack all buffs in the game with minimal support allowing for far higher than intended dps making the encounters a joke.
They’ve stated before that they didn’t want to have to deal with the idea of one composition that had ~7 dps classes with all buffs since if they balanced the content around that it would mean no other composition would generally work.
As it is, raids are incredibly forgiving, all bosses can be can be completed with as few as 6 people before enrage timer. Beyond this nothing in the raid actually requires people to run with all the buffs that a mirror composition brings, people think that it is needed to clear the content.
The only thing that actually changed with this balance over all is that you can’t get 100% up-time on the strongest boon in the game with only 1 mesmer anymore. And that the unintended affect of jagged horrors was removed.
All of the classes that were optimal or near optimal before are now in basically the same position with the exception of Necromancer. Even then there is no boss that can be cleared, that can’t be cleared with a 10 necro teams so it’s not like it’s a dead class.
People need to take a step back and stop complaining that balance happened because if you ever look at things anet only does minor changes 90% of the time to nudge the meta game.
i see where you are coming from but i still think that with the raids being 10 man and buffs be 5 man still leads to stacking the same classes because its just optimal compaired to have more class varaiety and i really dont like that idea its comon sense to try and give every partyber in the group the buffs that some classes allow
and 10 man.would just free space im not against the idea tho of merfing the buffs so a single mesmer could give perma quickness woth a rev and commanders armor but dont forget that playing chrono effectively aka upkeeping 100 boon dur required a more complex rptaion and skillful play compaired to 90 % of other classes. The part where they are scared of ppl having all the bifs i dont agree with because what we have now imho is in no way better.
at the start i thought this was legit then i saw he had a link for each class rather than just the necro and figured it out
havng the 10 man cap would also allow more classes to be helpfull with enough for exmple a bacilisk venom share to 10 ppl could be massive for bar cc and thiefs would be asked mre than just a dps slot well wth changes to the cc dmg or the size of the cc bar also with guard symbols stacking to 10 ppl guards would benefit the group as well there would be the need for further balancing but we would be passed the issue with needing multiple classes. If arenta net is scared of multiclass comps with the 10 man scap being broken they can just make importand skills like grace of the land or what ever else not stack with other’s so overstacking doesnt become an issue
Welp iirc when raids were anounced and we found out that it was gonna be 10 man content ppl suggested that anet should switch the max target cap for buffs to 10 so we dont have t take doubles of ppl and their answer was no coz that would make a super comp and we wouldnt see much variety in comps… needless to say some months later and we now experience one of the most if not the most static comp in raids with multiples of each class taking most of the spots and here i am asking again who would increasing the cap to 10 would hurt the game more? i mean having 1 mesmer to aply quickness to 10 ppl having 1 warr t aply banner buff to the entire group and 1 druid for gotl and spotter wouldnt that leave us with 7 spots to pick and choose what to add or remove? I see that every patch day the need of a raise in the max count for share should increase for the sake of more vialbe comps. This isnt a rant its just a suggestion to the devs and a op topic to start a non toxic discuusion i understand many ppl are quite kittened about the patch but i didnt make this thread for that reason.
On a completely diff note tho why isnt there a public test real for importand patches to go live a week or 2 before the go live so ppl can freely join(raiding guilds/raiders , pvpers who are serious about the game wvwers who care about big changes that afet their gamemode like this one) and give their feedback on the patch make suggestions and improvements on it so the result is close to what is actually is better for the whole game not just 1 game mode of the others. Other companies like blizzard use public test realms for their games and with their community’s feedback they improve on them.Im not telling you to do what ever blizzard does but this is a succesful recipy followed by multiple games :/

mesmers are fine you just need 2 of them XD im really ok with the changes to druids druids were supposed to be healers not condis that can heal neither dmgers that can heal an i like that change think is with the new changes the pretty much reduced the diversity of comp to near zero lvl now most groups will be running 2 wars 2 druids (or 1 not sure yet) and 2 chronos leaving 4 spots for the other classes which i really dont like. I understand making healer spec needing to build more healing but changing some of the other classes has lead to some not be playable in a raid cenario anymore and other not see as much placce coz the spots are less
dont forget that when anet released these short vids with the voice actors back at (or right before) hot’s release the voice actors mentioned casting for the living world too while they were casting for the expansion
these changes should be wvw only no reason for them to happen in pve pve is great atm the most variety in classes iv seen in a realy long while
even tho i agree rev boon dur should be reduced that shuld be really small just to make mesmers take more commander pieces but not enought to make rev non preferable in raids
id suggest you to give it time iv been through that stage as well i remember raging about how ill be exp if they dont let me get exp and every run i tried was kitten and ppl raged and left 2 tries later. The key for me was to not make raiding the be all and end all of my play time in this game, i ust let it grow on its wn i looked around for groups met ppl made friends whhere i could get a field training with and then raiding came i personally idnt look for raiding guild but just joined 2 or 3 bigger guilds and i raid with guys from these guilds
my suggestion is just take it slow you will not be left behind by any means even if new raids come ppl will still do the previous ones so no reason to over do yourself take it slow find good ppl have fun wiping xD

i think time is what will fix this issue for ppl that look for more depth and by that i mean at some point there will be multiple elite specs and a bigger variety of play styles to chose from given that they will not nerf each current elite spec into oblivion to make the new ones look better
also you dont just have 5 skills… you got 5 skills for each hand of weapons u use 5 utilities and the class specific skills some classes have even more making them more complex to play and from what i know gw 1 had also a small number of skills you can put in your bar and use
i also find the 1 only build statement a complete lie you can have many builds in each class lets take ranger for example you have condi ranger power buffer druid healer druid etc etc on mesmer you have chronotank power mesmer and condi mesmer etc etc some classes has less build variety some moght have even more thenthing is its not the games fault its the mentality of the players for thinking that the meta builds are the best which is kinda incorrect meta builds are the best when following meta strategies in meta comps you can drift off of that and still have success.
hmm you should change the title to ‘plase make faceroll easy the chaos fractal boss’ just walking away 2 steps from boss on third attack will interupt the chain making his daze non relevant the platform arent really that big of an issue since the dmg is not really that much and you can move on the non lit areas quite freely as for the condi removal i didnt know that that is actually bad they should just make consis do no dmg while shield is up but still having them on the boss fixate is actally ok dont have issues with it and if used correctly you make boss way easier.
the idea behind the system they have in place for fractals is that the higher you get the harder it gets and you are rewarded accordingly for each tier.The fact that you and so many ppl think after so much time into this system that every tier is for everyone is funny as all hell and it shows how ignorant ppl are.Tier 4 is only for those with a better knowlegde of the game and mechanics of each encounter for the rest there are simply lower tier with less rewards ofc because it would be unfair for the t4 runners if a tier 3 made the same rewards.
There is no other way of progressing in tier 4 than to simply practice learn the new instabs and learn ways to play around them oh and know what to ask for when making a group.
you where here from beta huh i started a month or 2 after hot and i now clear t4 every day without having any problems while doing it.
You get the lore prospective from diff parts of a world and ofc like actual history its biased towards something diff for every race what the devs are doing is showing that story can be diff depending on who’s telling it. Same thing with the bloodstone human believed that their gods were the kitten m…ers that could create something that powerful but now that various races made reserch on the subject it came to light that thing were in fact less human centric. Same applies to the mursaat changes in lore since their prospective of how things went thats not anet devs changng the lore thats getting a diff point of view on it
Pretty much all the 2nd gen legendaries are a bit less flashy compared to 1st gen.

I realise this might seem like a silly question but why are we doing rift events?
As far as I can tell we hear that something strange is going on around Gillscale Pond, go to investigate and see a rift. We jump through it, land in the pond and find the ??? device. We speak to Auris who repairs it, then start using it to stabalise rifts and jump through them.
But we don’t seem to be achieving anything by doing this. Are we learning anything about the rifts in the process? Do we need to stabalise them to stop something bad happening?
With all the other Current Events activities there was a pretty clear motive for our characters, but I just can’t see what we’re achieving here except for teleporting ourselves around Tyria a bunch of times.

3. Poison trails damage can not be negated by any means. I main warrior, i run endure pain, i still die, its still painful. This just makes no sense in light of every other instability having the opportunity to have its damage negated, evaded, etc.
The trails are not there to take a rest on their spot. You have and you can avoid those areas even as melee char.
Also have a look at the wiki for Endure Pain:
“Take no damage from attacks. You are still susceptible to conditions and crowd control effects.”If you really die to poison trails it’s just a l2p issue not a fail in development/design. I barely see people dying due to this instability in my fractal runs with pugs.
im also pretty sure block work shield 2 on mesmer works for me
guard dps is better for small hitboxes but for big hit boxes ely is better.
Tempest is better on both.
that not the case guard dps is higher in smaller hitboxes and he gives more buffs than ele might fury prot aegis and the on demand heal with f2 the only places to pick ele are big hitboxxes kc gorse and for rebound if you find your self in a bad spot

and here i am having the class 2 device and i did most of the locations from the first portal just gone back and jumped with a diff number xD but the event was really fun did many of the locations the normal way but for some like drytop i went back at the start and did it xD also you make the portal appear by using the skill 1 close to the event icon on the minimap

From what i understand the consortium just gives you a krait oil that last 4 times more and they scope of their path is way smaller than the priory for all who dont know SPOILERS the shadowstone predates the bloodstone that huge and the end result for picking and using the stone is a real treat and it open up a much bigger scope from where can this go now(domt know if the krait oil you get has a similar fancy outcome).
Ok this is how i think it works every 5days to a week new tier of unstable portals will appear for the appropriate stabilizer (class II atm) and every weak it will add a new button to the items skill bar maxing out on 5 buttons. So it should be maxed at 3-4 weeks more or less no? It will prob be like the last current event ( for the scythe) where the npc moves from map to map but now we see new versions of the portals (class II). Now the thing that doesnt work well with that theory is what they will doo with the previous portal are the new ones gonna be on completely diff maps? or will they replace the old ones and the whole thing will reset every 3-4 weeks i’d like to hear your opinions
also threads like dis makes wonder what would happen if dungeons still gave nice gold. I’m refferimg to arah and lupi xD also bloom is just an easier lupi be at least abit glad theres something likenthat in fractals
Strange. I find lupi easier than bloom.
then bloom should not be a problem to you the dodge window on lupi is much smaller while you can see bloom charge you from across the room
i was not refering to the old hearts read thread :/ i was talking about new maps that might be added maybe next expac also i talked about only having hearts as the repeatable part and for those who do complete all the hearts from the maps get to have the map completion rewards

why i dont want to repeat the whole map i just want to casually go to the map do hearts everdays and get the map completion too i mean it worked like that in eb but with no map completion reward i ont find it too extreme to get a trasmute charge per day
The reason why the repeatable hearts are ok for map completion in EB is because there isn’t that many to do before they reset.
When they reset (@reset) if you didn’t get map competion before then, you’ll have to redo the hearts.
Now imagine that for WORLD completion … it wouldn’t work.Besides we have alts for WC for that reason.

Other people’s avengers may be a substantial problem, but at least as a mesmer it’s simply random whether you can avoid your own or not. When RNGsus hates you (more often than not), #2 will simply port you half a metre to the other side of the avenger and you still get stomped.

There is an issue with the tracking of player map completion in Episode 2. We apologize for this issue, and we’re going to address it in the future. However, due to the complexity of the back-end systems that drive repeatable hearts and other elements within Episode 2, we won’t be able to make a quick fix for this.
In the meantime, we’d like to share some pointers on how to best achieve Map Complete in Ember Bay:
- You can acquire general non-heart completion points on the map, including Points of Interest and Waypoints, at your own pace.
- Renown Hearts reset every day at 00:00 GMT/4:00 PM Pacific time. Resets will change to 00:00 GMT/5:00 PM Pacific time on November 6 with the end of Daylight Saving Time.
- In order to receive credit towards Map Complete:
- Until the sequencing issue is corrected, you will need to complete all of the Renown Hearts within the same 24-hour period to receive credit towards Map Complete.
- Once the fix rolls out you will not need to complete all the Renown Hearts within the same 24-hour period in order to receive credit. However, you will need to complete all the Renown Hearts one final time in order to get permanent credit.

Great map, lava tubes great, events aka bosses bad undertunned and the big lava wurm could be so much more maybe a world boss on the scale of tt and teq, the story was nicely written interesting instances with lore and fights and the blending of open world and instance was great. My BIGGEST disappointment in the map/story was the green destroyers srsly that was bad imho the explanation you gave to magic was perfect but the execution was pretty bad.The power over death magic means he can control the dead and command them and vine… well your guess is as good as mine it feels more like a very weak excuse to not make new models.Over all amazing story and every thing but if you guys simply translate every kind of magic into a diff recolour it will be a very meh experience. Oh btw aurene is the best thing ever also bring back atleast a bit the red dedtroyers because primy absorbed the magic of zaitan and mordy doesnt mean he lost his domain of fire. I give the story a 7.5-8/10

isnt shroud useable while cced? also when ressing you should always have your eyes on the boss and ads and be ready to interupt the ressing (if not mesmer) to move also ressing ppl at right times plays a key role in swaggland
its true many classes can espace with downed 2 but thats is not always the case. some time even tho you moved away you can still be stomped by the avenger the idea behind thenanevger is not the player him self reposition or cc the avenger its more about they team responding to the anger ressing the player fast or ccing. For the coordinating part ppl tent to get blind when doing fractals so they dont see what you say and suggest in chat so coordination is hard big example ia that ppl dont wp the wisps at swampland and at the 25% phase they run like headless chickens.
oh suddenly the dur is a problem? dont recall any thread like these for the normal potions well i guess ppl didnt care if the durr ended in the past coz they could say that they dont have any left and be done with it but now ofc its an issue xD. Back in the old dungeon days ppl used to run dungeons with the inv open in a corner at all times so they could easily access weapons and utility dont see why this isnt the case here. Potions work just fine the only issue in find is with multiple charrs that you have to swap the potions between them before doing them but for that theres also thenshared inv slot and ofc more will be added.

you would be most effective dmg wise if you go for zerk you can always change the stats of your celestial amor to zerk or change it back but usally zerker is the goto fpr tempests i can understand the celestial tho because you want to be durable but thats why most groups look for a healers in t4 and only competitive healing spec atm is druid. I’d suggest you find some ppl to play with tho so they can be on comms with you and overall having a smoother run zerk tempsts in pugs is quite wierd not weak but meh and healing tempest i havent seen 1
ok sabetha and raid bosses would be wierd tbh, the totems on grawl shaman dont see to do anything really importand you need to pay attention for at least not to me , a pack of pocket raptors means insta wipe /gg xD the aoe from the falling anvil wold bee idd legit and fun but i would have the berserker aoe i would have the dregde mec firing some fire fields n thee group covering some of the areathis might cause some panic in small area but as i siad aim to the players location after some specific voice line so ppl can move to the wall and leave some space free of aoe the thaumanova pull can be a little tricky for expample if the apear in jumping sections (uncategoristed chaos with the harpy goles/harpies or volcanic here the stairs are but still you can dodge the pull it self but in small platforms like that it might not be the best xD
i actually find it really convinient that these exist now its a change for the better a recipe to make all 3 into 1 ould be dope as well but i understand that ppl want to have them acoundt bound as a passive but worry not the shared slots are coming u
