A big part of the fun is to get rewarded and thats what pvpers have been experiencing for so long as they can stay therefor hours upon hours and complete collections by playing matches increase their rank be more competitive (still w8ing for the fractal leaderboards) and get pips for other rewards and stuff.

Why is it that the main thing by far that pvers do is limited to 45 mims per day while it asks me when i reach 80 and try to progress them to sink tons of gold into propering for them (foods pots omnipotion asc armor weapons infusions etc) did i do all this for just 45 mins per day??

Lets make an example lets say you Love your job your job is so good you love it if you where’nt getting paid would you do it?? i wouldnt and yes i refered to it as my job pve its my job and hobby in mmos and i love i wouldnt play them if it wasnt for that and i want to play more but the devs say nope gotta try pvp gotta try wvw …. (im not kittened btw if you got that vibe just passionate they legit have ppl askimg them for excuses to play their fave stuff in their game more and they are like … nope while in pvp its already a thing).

Raiding Questions

In an ideal world, there are 9 professions, 10 raid slots. You should be 100% viable taking 1 of each profession, and having a bonus slot tailored for each fight (maybe you have that guy that swaps toons out every fight because he is special and cannot play one profession too long. Or maybe you are struggling with staying alive so you take a healing druid or tempest to even your odds.)

Okay i understand your enthusiasm and i want this to be true too but comimg from wow you understand that even back in vanilla which was 40 man raid all the way today clases and specs are not taken in raids because there ia always a better class.

12 or so years they still havent done it and gw2 is quite notorious for its not so amazimg balancing, but you ask here for a 10 man group which will take all classes meaning all classes should be usefull and also that 1 spot is versitile meanimg 1 class is not over performimg the other in general so no need to over stack it unless for specific encounters which bringing more will benefit the group.

Now give me an example of a game that has manage that lvl of balance. (take mote in not shotting on your ideals of raiding but that scenario is unrealistic not only in gw2 id say).

what i agree with is that many ppl dont like to try everything and they enjoy one type of content should these ppl afk the rest of their free time? Also anet said they wanted fractals to be the main endgame pve for 5 man and tbh dailies should be the the filler content when you are done with what ever else it should not be the core end game content for pvers (my opinion ofc not absolute)

Perhaps those people would have been better off had they taken the time to realize that instanced content is not this games main focus, it’s pvp and open world pve. That’s not to say that they can’t ask for it, but it seems silly to pick a game that doesn’t focus on the content that you want to do.

Fractals are and can continue to be the main form of 5 man end-game content in the game, but that does not mean that it has to support multi hour sessions, outside of doing it for fun.

Im not sure where the game was advertised for its pvp or its open world pve quite abit of the footage prior of the game’s release had scenes or thematics from dungeons,
ill also add the the majority of ppl who do pve atm are doing fractals and raids, dungeon runs are for the giggles or to relax and world bosses and meta that ppl run some times of the day i mean i see more lfg at mroe time of the day for fractals and raids rather than squads for metas or world bosses nowdays at hours that the pre events are up ofc.
Also might i add that im possitive that raids where not planed from anet back in 2k12-13 to be added it was the cries of the community for trully challenging content that made them a reality.

Liking it or not pve atm is fractals and raids which both are glorified dailys and weeklys
i understand tho the thematic of raids being that challenging thing you do once pe week for the cool rewards and they intented to be that
But fractals a far more accessible and the main idea of pve for the vast majority of pvers and many like it.

Now im not saying that dailies are wrong their cuurent form is perfect for the casuals who only have that much time but for those who have time and they like fractals and as main pve 5 man content and would like to do them more these ppl are not rewarded for it.

Also open world pve consists of dailys the lw3 maps are daily farms world bosses are daily encounters.

I’m sure there’s a significant minority that likes to spend more than 3 hours/day in the same niche; I’m not sure if it’s critical to a game’s success to offer increased rewards for those who choose to do so.

but you know its more like 10 hour and having longer tiume would force ppl to cocialise and make groups for long day sessions aka create a community for this kind of things more so than the few ppl taht run wioth their guildies.

The facts might be true: you can run 25 paths per day; I just never did. I might have managed 7-8 paths per day a few times, but after the first dozen times/path, dungeons became stupefyingly dull.

I like fractals because it’s worth doing all the dailies, because you have some control over the difficulty, and mostly because they are just inherently more appealing to me: for the most part, the challenges are more interesting (even pre-HoT).

My regular crew runs the new fractals more often than the dailies recommend, because we have fun with them.

In short, I don’t agree with the OP about what’s important.

Here’s what the OP on Reddit said:

A great part about dungeons was the amount of content they provided. There are 8 dungeons with a total of 25 paths, each of which you could run daily for full rewards. This gave a lot to do on a daily basis, and I’d often spend my entire day just running dungeons.

Fractals on the other hand, are built so the bulk of rewards are given from daily achievements. Players will run 3 dungeons to complete these, then they’re done for the day. Outside of this the rewards are handled in a way that incentivizes running a single dungeon like Molten Duo, and are lacking otherwise.

Additionally, the daily system is horrible when it comes to new content being added. The 2 newest fractals are only part of the daily achievements every 4.66 days on average, so each update has little impact on the daily routine. And as more fractals are added, you’ll be even less likely to encounter any given fractal.

With fractals being the only supported version of 5 man instanced content, this needs to be addressed. It needs to function as a primary form of content that can keep players interested for hours a day, like dungeons were able to, not the 3-runs-and-done it is currently set up as.

Sincerely, a former dungeon player who wants to play again, but fractals just aren’t cutting it.

i havent seen anyone talking about this so i might as well say it raid is been delayed because legendary armor is not ready so yeah theres that also do mind that raid content was the only content ruuning in the game for the whole content drought where the majority of the community had nothing to do also i understand that raiders like to arid but theres also otehr content they can try like fractals and the infamous 100 cm

And what this have in relation with the topic? Yes there is other content that is being relased in a steady pace ( LS3, events ). The raid team has nothing to do with it. Its the same thing as going in a LS topic asking for the next LS release and say go raid instead.

im saying the op could be a little more patiend i mean the whole rest fo the community were (for the msot part) as for the first point the leggie armor im pretty sure thats the reason we havent gotten raid 2

i think they should buff the rewards in ab once they fix the ml simply nerfing it to hell and keeping the multiloot would be bad design i prefer doing 1 run and getting good rewards once per 2 hours rather than 14 in 2 hours

i wouldnt be surpised if they ended up adding a more elite version of ad infinitum (maybe a golden one like the golden fractal weapons which will require you to complete a number of (nightmare like) cm’s that new fractals will come with or even old ones (chaos ) and sink in another 1k to 500g into it for the more hardcore players ofc i would like that actually a golden ad infinitum also for the question if nightmare will remain 100 i think it will remain until we get the last fractal of the fractal story (the one that is currently running)

i dont think an extra tier is really needed if they take the feedback from the cm of nightmare which ill guess was “make more challenge mode like this” they will keep making it for future or existing ones as well (most likely for new ones). This way they will not confuse players who will venture into tier 5 unknowingly of whats its purpose since to get to do the cm for the new frac 100 requires you to go out of your way. Long story short i think the challenge mode are enough of a form of content for 5 man groups that look for that kind of contend and the rewards are fine tbh since it can be done on a daily basis.

rewind and c is not the same thing with rewing you use all your skills then press rewing and bam you got all your skills back with cs you must use it use the few to 1 skills you can in the little time you got and they it will reset the cd of the skills

“Anything” can be reset by CS, but “everything” is misleading and somewhat of a caricature. Chrono is better than core Mesmer because it’s the elite specialization by design as part of HoT and should be able to do things core cannot or why buy HoT? No Mesmer I know of will argue with you about Mesmer build diversity though, because it is miniscule to none atm.

The focus in fractals(and pretty much any other content except training golems) shouldn’t be on getting perfect dps buffs. 99% of the time having more dodges is better.

you won’t fail a fractal because you didn’t have that buff 100% of the time.

Although that’s true, it doesn’t change the reasons for the OP’s suggestion: they want full control over the buffs. That seems reasonable to me.

Of course, it’s unclear whether ANet will decide this should be prioritized over the gazillion other reasonable suggestions.

i think thats a really small issue for a small portion of the player base if i was playing war or thief myself i wouldnt ask for stuff like this when they could use that one dev for something else more importand since the infinite buffs last for 2 hours and all you elitists can clear content in under 2 hours im sure you wouldnt mind clicking 2 potions instead of 1 now would you?

It’s been said countless times, advertise for what you want. Don’t complain if you can’t even be bothered to do that little.

Have run plenty of T4 pugs where it was obvious people had no clue. Didn’t ask for experience, didn’t expect it (is not like pugging a 50 before, where you knew those joining would have a clue).

how would you know back at 50 ppl had a clue and new at 100 ppl dont? its a legit question btw i didnt play the game then

i once sugested having anew player icon to ppl who recently joined the fractal and hit lvl 80 and i was treated with responses like “i dont want to be called nood and that will bring toxicity” tbbh that would be the case to some degree but having something to show tha you might not be exp is still good coz ppl know what to expect and can react accordingly (kick wich honestly kittens do you better off blocking them) or suggest explain you some mecanics which i know many ppl dont have problem explaining.

Ppl are scared of getting flamed or kicked and they wont say a word or simply dont care but you cant do anything about the later so you might as well give a push to the ones who are scared of saying something.

as for the “a good lfm” i sadly call this bullkitten 60% of the time prime example "lf x/y/z calsses nightmare 100 cm “the unclean” title food/pots" and more that the 60% of ppl who join dont meet one of more of the op’s terms.

I get called bad everyday. Mostly its the team as a whole doing bad rotations and losing the individual fights.

Most players point out the flaws they see team mates doing and not their own.

I also feel only 10% of the players are like what you described

its hard to notice your own mistakes some times its easier to see the others mistakes simply becuse you watch them from a 3rd prespective while to do that for your own play you need to record the games and watch them later to see mistakes and kittenups.

And as far as knowing who is new, when 4 guys are capping home at the start of a round it’s a good guess they’re new. And trying to teach them mid ranked game is more frustrating than it should be. They dont listen.

To some degree I agree with you, I often get frustrated with team mates and I groan inside when I know I have a very new player on my team. However, I understand they want the rewards that come from playing in ranked. I was lucky I had a mentor to teach me pvp, and I have tried to pass that on, I just wish more people would recognize that its not the fault of the new person necessarily as an outcome of the game rewards and matchmaking.

arena net needs to add a mentor feature for pvp it wont hurt anyone and it will make pvp players better.

the skillceiling in this game in terms of pvp is really fascinating a bad or mediocre player from a good one is miles of difference and same aplies from good to great and pro and the game doesnt really make it easy for the individual to understand where they are with that being said tho nobody understand how bad they are at something whether it is pvp or pve until they try something challenging and they realsie how much they suck being raids in pve or ranked with better players in pvp, Some of the worst players became amazingly good after they went through this procces.

the outfit as well as the aura it has is nicu idd too bad ppl give it kitten in dulfy’s comment section and on the forums.It’s sad tho my favce moment in the game was when i got “bioluminecent” unlocked on my acc it was such a happy moment and i miss that tyrpe of conente where you constantly make proggress and they reward you with skins for eac armor type with each step you make Feelsbadman.

I agree the prices should be balanced and i would aslo go as far as to say that there need to be diff pricing for tiers that dont require you to have a full asc set and tiers that do (asc stuff cost less in t4 and you buy with some gold and tickets you get for clearing t4 only or even tier 3 for those who want to make more sets ) just because pve makes gold that doesnt mean that gold sits there only for asc stuff and that doesnt mean because ppl make gold in fractals they need t pay stupid amounds of gold for armor/weapons. Hell in pvp yo get the asc the easiest and cheapest and you dont even need it in pvp and theres no excuse for it to be this easy and fast to get if they are that easy and cheap to get in pvp that should be the case in pve too (kind of to balanced lvls ofc but not as overpriced as they are now)

I think the endboss of the underwater fractal needs to be revamped. It is a very boring and uninspired fight at the moment. The electricity fields get ignored by almost every group.

I would agree that the boss sucks, but given that support for underwater combat has pretty much vanished (not a complaint, just a fact) I would put this very low on the list of priorities for fractal updates. And to be fair, the rest of that fractal is actually decent, so I don’t mind that the boss is boring and easy…otherwise I might actually have to make underwater gear lol.

Dredge isn’t so bad now, since dredge lost their blind immunity.

They did? I don’t remember being able to blind them last time I did it. Maybe I am mistaken but will check next time it is a daily.

Anyway: I dislike Uncat and Cliffside, but love Aquatic, Nightmare and new Swamp. The rest are great too.

The dredge in the Underground Facility have opened their eyes and can now be blinded.

I actually really liked that they couldn’t be blinded, I wish that would come back. So many times I came in on engineer and launched a mortar 4 or something and see “immune” and think “oh kitten they’re moles, I’m stupid”, and even though it was annoying I though it was good flavor.

Okay first of all the maps dont as feel immersive as se2 and hot/vanilla maps were, they dont feel like theres anything to hold you there for more than the time it takes to collect the map currency and do the dailies and our player char so far agrees. In each episode after he/she has done his/her job on the map then moves on to the next and never looks back (so far), while we keep going to the hot maps like tarrir and ab (taimis place) because theres strong longlasting importance to this places unlike with the new maps that are bursts of importance that last for very little and then the map becomes purely mechanicly worth( currencies/items ). I’d lke at some point to get to expieriece the kind of se2 maps again like sw and dry top where multiple episodes take part and generally us and the pc have a reason to stay there for more tha the period between of each lw release
Long story short the maps feel like the instances for the personal story they served their purpose added to the narative theres no point now to look back at themboth lore wise (atm at least and dare i say fun wise? (because tbh i had fun everytime i did the meta in sw and generaly ran around and i dont geet the same feeling as strongly with the new maps)) .
With that being said i like the concept of farm maps, maps that purely serve the purpose of farming to get rewaded i enjoyed that in wow too, but i wouldnt like that to be the defining similarity and factor of each one of the new maps of lw s3.
Over all really pleased with the quality of what we geet but i wouldnt get mad or feel betrayed if we got a release in like 3 or 4 months and the maps it brings stays relevant longer and not only as a farm map but as an importand map (story wise and event/mechanically wise).
p.s. i hope i made what im trying to say here clear and not caused any confusion.

Ok so why does pvp have asc items in it and why are they easy fast and cheap to get ? i mean it doesnt even makes sense asc has no use in pvp and you mentioned when ppl asked for the reasoning behind the fractal prices for asc chest that you didnt want the prices to be lower than crafting the gear thats not the case in pvp asc gear tho.
And hell why not give asc to wvw first where it matters?

i dont want this to change but feel i should report this the event like phase after the where you need to destroy the three orb to progress you can skip the walking part to get to the 2 small ones by simply stacking under the platforms and cheesing it like that.

I finally got to try the Nightmare fractal at 100. I do love this fractal…but the final boss.

My husband and I first tried it with pugs and we wiped repeatedly (maybe bad pugs?), dailies reset before we could finish but we didn’t give up. We found 3 guildmates to help out and still wiped a couple more times but we finally got it. It’s a really good fight but I hate how many times I was out of endurance so I couldn’t dodge yet another attack. I know it’s going to take learning all of the different tells for some of the things, but some of the attack chains felt cheap as hell. The pound (run out of the circle), then shockwave (jump it) and then the hallucinations (dodge) is brutal if you miss the very first get out of the circle because you have no chance to recover from the second and third parts of the attack chain. It feels a kitteneap.

I feel like it takes a little bit too long to cap the circles during the bullet hell phase too. Just a little bit too long. You don’t want them to cap too fast obviously, but this part of the phase just felt like it could use a few seconds shaved off.

Projectiles you can’t destroy/reflect feel bad. I understand not being able to reflect them but if I could at least nullify a few of them with Corrosive Poison cloud it would make the phase more manageable for me. This is unlikely to change so I’ll figure out how to do this phase better. However, their hit box feels like it’s way bigger than they appear so I kept getting hit by them even though I didn’t think I was that close.

It felt good finally beating the final fight. I do wish the basic lvl 100 was tuned down just a little for the final fight mostly so I don’t have to spend 30min-1 hr on one fractal when it’s the daily. I generally only have an hour to do fractals when I get home from work and don’t have time after reset to do them before I go to bed, but that’s my own issue to work out.

Overall, it’s a great fight and I’ll get better at it and eventually try the challenge mote.

but bullet phase is a perfect break you can just die relax for a sec and leave the others who might be better at it do it and then you ress as fr the prjecctiles i was expecting as a mesmer to feel cheated since i cant reflect it but it doesnt feel lke taht the fact that you can walk between them and the further they go the more the room to walk is feels fair

I almost never watch (let alone link) videos when simple text explanations are often shorter and easier to follow. Here’s an exception:

This is a six minute, beautifully executed vid explaining the benefits and cost efficiencies of infinite mist potions.

Short story: sell your drops of temp potions to the vendor and save up for the infinite ones. The only reason to buy temp potions is if you have an immediate need, e.g. getting through a timed mote with a non-optimal team.

Is this topic a joke? There is rarely more than 1 expensive or time consuming achievement per LS release. If anything there should be way more of this so you cannot finish all new achievements in the same week as an update happens.
Time consuming, expensive or very difficult achievement would be the perfect opportunity for Anet to make contest last longer and bridge the time between updates. I am suprised Anet is not actually doing stuff like this to keep people occupied tbh.

Are you seriously considering ‘expensive achievements’ to be a solution to make content last longer? What’s the difference to any other grindy asian MMORPG that gets hated on from GW2 players if Anet takes “I’m rich you know” 1000g gold sinks as a way to make their content last longer?

Challenging achievements? Yes. Difficult Achievements? Yes. Expensive achievements? No.

How else would you make content last longer? Grind for all kinds of rewards is the only way, fun is not enough of a motivator in MMOs to keep content lasting.
Difficulty in MMOs is basically the same as time investment in MMOs. Even the hardest skill based achievements in GW2 only take an evening of practicing at most. How many of those do you want to add in each patch to make the contest last weeks instead of days?
The skill cap in GW2 is pretty low, so any above average player will have no issues finding ways to complete all skill based things quickly. See new raid wings in GW2. The first people (even excluding testers) will have every new raid achievement before the first weekly reset happens. It is unlikely that there will ever be content harder than raids in GW2, so again we are left with using grind as a way to keep content interesting and alive.

the wing 1 dificulty is not to be taken as a staple for future raid releases said anet they said that the dificulty should be same amount wing of the same raid but from raid to raid its a diff story

Anet hoping that impulsive players will buy gems and convert to gold to get the achievments out of the way faster. HoT ushered in a cynical emphasis on gold sinks with the guild hall probably being the most gross example.

Thank goodness I am not ocd about achievments.

u wut m8??? guild halls as a mean for ppl to ge gems to make gold? guild hals are supposed to be that hq of an entire guild and its a long term gold for them (the guild) to look for

Why does all the new achievements become such a gold sink. The material grind and gold sink. It is getting out of control. The carnival weapons skins are way to expensive. For being a casual game why has all the achievements becoming crazy gold sinks. Anet needs to seriously rethink the cost of future achievements. Those on limited incomes can not afford to buy the achievements.

because not all achievements need to be easy to get and available to all the community like kodan’s warmth its good to see something for the more deticated parts of the player base who put more time into the game and diserve such rare and prestigious things

People know that and people understand that. The question is: Why would I take a good thief over a good tempest? Just because I can? The answer is simple: No.
Given the fact that you have no idea how much skilled a player is that is entering your squad, you’d rather take the best you can get than a grab bag.
You never assume you’ll get a bad tempest so it’s possible to take a good thief. You always assume that you get a player knowing to play his class, so he is a good tempest.

Yeah this is logic we shouldnt even consider, what does it mean “you asume someone is good” why because you posted such messege in the desc? from my experience desc boards on both fractals and raids doesnt mean much to those who join the mostly see the class requireents (if they even see that) and join. Thats bad logic we should go through it we should have had dps meter so we could see how much can someone pull his weight during the fight.

Once we had a commande who was raging to a gaurd for not bringing ele and giving him kitten for supposedly not doing enough dps with gaurd (while the dude was caring for greens if condis couldnt go alpy aegis to greens if there were blue aoes so no one in there takes dmg while pulling off all the dps he coold he also never died to mechanics but because the dps was low in total te comm ignored all that and gone ahead to blame him because he is no ele with out proof of him being bad.

tl dr What you call plain logic i call ignorance we shouldnt be going through this to have good runs. Anet refers to it as the hardest conent but they dont allow us the essential tools to make it enjoyable for all.

Tempest continues being the better alternative groupwise than a thief in almost all cases. So, there is no reason to take a thief over a tempest for an average pug.
It’s only irrational if you ask for “dps” and then you kick a thief, the only point I would agree. But most of the groups are asking for a tempest for a reason (orb clear, projectile blocking, gale song and some more).

I would also prefer tempests over thiefs in raids because from my subjective experiences. There were more thiefs laying dead on the ground all the time than tempests. Applied the same for most of the people & commanders I ran with in pugs. Pug thiefs have a bad reputation.

No he honestly is not a better alternative in half the bosses ele does less dmg than a thief and a guard and he brings little support compaired to them to take an ele on sab or vg rather than a thief or a guard is as logical as to take a rev over a warr for mightstacking (which can work in some cases but in some other warriors are jsut a better alternative exactly like thiefs and guards in some cases). Im not saying that you will get a bad tempest and a good thief but in some encounters having good a good thief that works better or a guard and a tempsest you should pick the thief/guard .

I can find a worst fractal its the solid ocean the thing is so boring and uninteresting that the player character says kitten you to the giant squid and goes ooc mid fight coz nothing will hit/kill you there .Swamp land requires you to be awake to have reflects dodges on point and good dps to reduce the small chances now after the nerf to wipe and the wipe mechanic at 25% is just a great adition.

didn’t read it all but did you also mention that ince they last for 2 hours and the singularity refreshes its durations you practically will never refresh it if you do the dailies only and also you will always have the added stats from it

tbh as the hardest content in the game it should require you to have a build that is up on par with the dificulty of the content you want to clear

Oh, and here i thought it was about skill, not builds.

sure if you have the skill you can be good with everybuild but withmeta build for some classes the skill required to be effective and usefull grows smaller but in general you dont need meta build as the top guilds have proven with their lowmans and salt with their filthy 10 ele clears
