go for might infusion in both tbh more dmg is always welcome and if i was to go to extrimes i would go for zerk armor as well assasins gear is situational doesnt do more dmg in every encounter.

Truth be told you can clear raids you dont need a specific class like everything in this game SKILL>> NUMBERS ppl dont understand that and thats why they would kick a thief or a guardian that do 30k dps (unrealistic in most cases but it helps my point and i can stil occur) for an ele that does 20-23k dps jsut because he has the tempest icon, same aplies for condis and tanks or healers i have had friends telling me how smooth of clears they had bback in the day on vg with thief tank and auramancer healers.

That’s hardly the problem, even if all professions did the exact same DPS the diversity would still be terrible because of the buffing professions. You always need Chrono/PS/Druid x2 because they triple your DPS, and if you say you can beat the bosses without them, yes you can, a Tempest can Heal and a Thief can Tank for example. But you’ll be doing 1/3 of the DPS which will make the encounters much harder regardless of skill.

Why go for a composition that does x damage (total Raid damage) over a composition that deals 3x damage?

i was refering to the dpses mostly the diff is small and the buffs nulify it for most encounters but yeah as for the other 2 roles sure the fastest runs can be with chronos and druids and ps warr but that doesnt mean you want to ahve the fastest runs some ppl care about safe runs not a chance for a wipe even if it takes them a min or 2 more

but sure absolutely the existing goto heal might gen and tank specs are too good but that wil solve it self when new elite specs will get added that allow other classes to do that as well

People know that and people understand that. The question is: Why would I take a good thief over a good tempest? Just because I can? The answer is simple: No.
Given the fact that you have no idea how much skilled a player is that is entering your squad, you’d rather take the best you can get than a grab bag.
You never assume you’ll get a bad tempest so it’s possible to take a good thief. You always assume that you get a player knowing to play his class, so he is a good tempest.

It’s just plain logic.

Yeah this is logic we shouldnt even consider, what does it mean “you asume someone is good” why because you posted such messege in the desc? from my experience desc boards on both fractals and raids doesnt mean much to those who join the mostly see the class requireents (if they even see that) and join. Thats bad logic we should go through it we should have had dps meter so we could see how much can someone pull his weight during the fight.

Once we had a commande who was raging to a gaurd for not bringing ele and giving him kitten for supposedly not doing enough dps with gaurd (while the dude was caring for greens if condis couldnt go alpy aegis to greens if there were blue aoes so no one in there takes dmg while pulling off all the dps he coold he also never died to mechanics but because the dps was low in total te comm ignored all that and gone ahead to blame him because he is no ele with out proof of him being bad.

tl dr What you call plain logic i call ignorance we shouldnt be going through this to have good runs. Anet refers to it as the hardest conent but they dont allow us the essential tools to make it enjoyable for all.

I would argue that jade maw needs some buffing not the mobs but the actual boss it self it looks menacing but you can literally never get hit from it without even using the crystals come on anet it needs to hit the gym.

Tbh the reason ppl ask for eles in power dmg and rangers or necros back in the day for condi dmg is that the comms in these groups as well as a big portion of the community thinks that content needs the perfect ideal dps classes, support casse and tanking classes to have a smooth run and so they see the dps benchmarks they see highest dps being ele and condi ragers and they thing only that can be used to clear raids when thats far from the truth.

The way I see it. There are two camps for hard mode in dungeons

overgrowth vs wildstar

I am in the overgrowth group for ai

stills its more interesting ai than the previous 100 and less eas to control and to be fair even tho in fractals there might not have been huge changes to the ai mobs and bosses have there have been imrovements in the ai in general biggest example is the hot maps as well as the newest map bitterfrost frontier

I normally don`t post anything on the forums, but since the feedback to this fractal is so overwhelmingly positive, I just felt the need to say sth. about it, as I feel that maybe the majority of the gw2 players doesn`t feel the same about it as the people voicing their thoughts in this forum.

First of all: I like doing fractals, it maybe is the content I like most about GW2. I do t4 dailies pretty much every day, as they are doable within a reasonable timeframe and give decent rewards – unlike a lot of other content in the game.
I consider myself a pretty decent player and I like content that is challenging to some extent, I am not interested in steamrolling everything and being given rewards for free. But: Although I am in a guild, I often like to pug t4 fractals because after a long day at work with a lot of talking I don`t feel like using ts to coordinate with my mates. I guess that for a lot of other gw2 players this is pretty much the same. I am sure this fractal is easily doable within a coordinated guild group, but if the precondition of having a premade group is notfulfilled, you might have massive problems clearing t4 dailies now. With pug groups you are so dependent on luck with the mates you get, that this type of content is simply not reliably doable anymore. You might get lucky and just get it done quickly, but you also might get 5 groups in a row that play the downstate rota.
Generally, there is nothing wrong about content that requires premades, like raids, but why does that type of content have to be injected into “normal” fractals now? Make it live somewhere else, like raids do, make this type of fractals t5 fractals, whatever. But currently Anet is basically taking sth. that existed before (reliably doable t4 dailies) from a lot of players instead of just adding sth. on top for people who want more challenging content. To me, although I am not negatively impacted directly by this, this is not the right direction to take. The design of the fractal is raidlike, it is the next step in the evolution of new content catering mainly to the elitists within gw2 that want harder and harder content, gating desirable rewards behind requirements the majority of the playerbase can`t fulfill.

Now let the hate begin, hit me with all the good stuff, like “Your English is bad”, “Just do t3 dailies”, “You probably are way worse than you think you are”, “git gud”, “I easily pugged this like 100 times yesterday” and so on ..

neither the normal 100 fractal nor the challenge mote require you to run a premade group it does make things easier but it all comes to personal skill if you learn the encounters and become good it doesnt matter if you only pug it or not it will get easier its a case of “practice makes perfect” its also a case of "the freaking thing is like 1 weeek old let it sink in for a bit and the playerbase will get confortable with it

If you didn’t know already you can jump over the orbs without taking damage.

Can you really?? Huh. That would definitely make the fight a lot easier. I must try that out the next time I’m in Nightmare.

i swear to god thats not the case i have tried countless times to jump over the irbs but i stll get dmg and its not lagg or anything what you can do tho stay bac w8 for them to open up and pass between them

tbh as the hardest content in the game it should require you to have a build that is up on par with the dificulty of the content you want to clear if you could just walk i n there with a build that does not do the absolute best your class can you would just be a weight to your group honestly even if you are an amazing power engi i would still consider the condi engi first and then take a look at you because its more proven that it works.
Also if yo could tag the easy mode with what everbuild you wanted and then try and go to a tier that requires specific combs with specified builds and classes that is way to big of a dificulty diffrence for it to be eligible as a good training ground for raids (tbh atm the nightmare fractal is by far the best training ground you can have if you are interested in raids and it seems thats the road anet wants you to go.

Infinite Fractal Potions

heard that picking up the mistlock instability even tho it refreshes the duration of your pots it doesnt give you the stat boosts that you would get if you clicked the potions yourself not sure tho if its true

Should work with the separate infinite pots, but there seems to be some buggyness with the omnipotion, so to be safe I just click it again after using mistlocks.

Also: I want a refund on my now useless 2 infinite defensive, mobility and offensive pots

uhmm i think that was a stupid call by uyou honestly you should have bought 2 more shared slots tbh that way even with the omni potion you get the value of the shared slots just from diff items you slot in

there’s one issue though — what to do with excess (regular) infinite potions? You convert TO them but CAN’T CONVERT BACK to relics or whatever equivalent cost.

My situations — I made more than the regular set [off., def. mobi.] pre-patch, so that another fractal-ready character could have that convenience. Now i’ll just have one omni in shared slot, making extras useless.

So… can we have some sort of vendor option to convert regular infinites into someth of equal cost (relics, etc)?

its still way better than the previous 100 fractal. Idk what you’ve been told but a big part of gw2 combat is timing and managing your evades/dodges/blocks to survive the encounters i understand that you might not like ppl being able to play melee in fractals and that you loved that chaos fractal last boss didnt allow you easily to pull that off but the nightmare fractal takes the gw2 combat many steps ahead from what the other fracals had us used to. The fights are intense and dynamic full of movement and positioning is key to success, hell you dont even need to dodge most of thee time just walk out of the aoe’s and that you learn after bashing you head against the bosses (which is perfect coz it gives you something to work and improve without requiring you to have a healer or be ranged) I understand that the movement potion makes the fight easier but really for classes other than mesmer or engi and thief the fight would be a pain with out taht added endurance regen. Cliffsie is just focus 4 all the mobs and cleave them down, mentioning swamp is laughable because its just a dodge check for you and your group (with reflects you can reduce the dodges needed b quite a bit), chaos fractal is nice for the fact that it gives weight to charging targets to make the fight easier but after that its just a kitefest or stackfest with dodging the last auto attack from the last boss while your druid is healing you xD. literally all these fight are jsut stack on boss cc and dps down. Having many attacks and aoe that require you to dodge or ou will get 1 shotted makes you not fall asleep and its super rewarding when you get the hang of it.

Maybe I’m not the first to have noticed the same repeated ideas in HoT from the first story and area. i think Anet has lost its creativity touch and here is a list of similar things i am referring to, pardon the exact names on them.

So in the “My Story” adventure you get to understand that theres an army of Undead controlled by a Dragon. in HoT you get to learn that the slyvari/plant characters are controlled by a Dragon.

there’s Undead Tendrils, there is plant based Tendrils.

the story dragon throws up undead, breachers throw up monsters. Which i’m tired of hearing the sound it makes in meta. it gets annoying knowing the thing just barfed.

i dunno, I’m certain if probe a little longer i would find similarities between the 2 further i go. I understand MMO’s rehash things. but with as big of game Guild Wars 1 was i was hoping to have seen a much different side with the Add On. after all do we really need a Puking Dragon Monster?

Your wording is quite meh. In the personal story we understand that the elder dragon zhaitan has resurected every dead from orr and his been attacking the coastlines of tyrian to get more dead to ressurect more and expand his army

In hot story we learn that the sylvari are a race created by mordy theres a diff between creating your own race and calling them for battle and just giving life to husks and controling them.

now bone tendrils never really understood their existance are they the fingers of dragons like tequatl when he/it shoves his hands on the ground (or whatever idk)

jungle trendrils are literally the extends of mordy since mordy it self is not a actual dragon but a forest? a big plant? or what ever really.

“the undead dragons throw up undead” really? i always thought that they undead were thrown at us by the ships of his andead fleets but if you say so :/

in the hot trailer we saw mordy’sminions being crated by his own vines and later in the story we find where hi actually makes his sholdiers now even tho they ways are similar i guess they didnt think of having the minions of mordy being crated in front of you when they ambush you or simply as reinforcements to assists more of their kind in events and what not. I guess after thei are created they simply are transported fast by his breacher vines to locations they are needed

Well, the storyline gives a reasonable explanation for what you perceive as rehashing the same strategy. If you don’t know that already, I suggest you check out the storyline so far. It explains why the dragons seem somewhat similar in their powers.

Having said that, dragons don’t make great villains because they aren’t people with their complex (and interesting!) motivations. It’s a lot like making a lion the bad guy in a story. Yeah, he has teeth and claws. But if the story is going to be any good it’s the interactions between characters with those human motivations that reach the player.

I’m hoping that means that moving forward they’ll start to move away from quickly charging down the next path to yet another dragon and killing it. The appearance of questionable allies like Lazarus (I think his name was?) is more setting the stage for something like that than announcing which dragon we’ll be going after next.

Plus, even while I enjoyed HoT overall, the storyline wasn’t great AND it was a total knockoff of WoW, the night elves, and the Emerald Dream. I mean plenty of details are different, but it isn’t enough to avoid feeling like they just said “Hey, green dragons you fight in a nightmare dreamworld and they corrupt tree-hugging elf people? We should do that, too!”

i agree with everything you said except the part about wow, im a big fan of the wow lore and what you say as well as what iv experienced inthe story of hot doesnt remind at all the wow universe first off in gw2 the idea of dragons is not to be taken literally in all cases as an example mordy is literally a forest the idea of dragons is that they are hurgy for magic and power (like dragon in mythology have been hungry for gold),

Night elvs dont have really any connection with the green dragons the green dragons are just the gaurdians of the emerald dream while night elvs just created a connection with that place and so they created a respect for the green dragons.

The dream that exists in gw2 is but a plain of existence that was created by the pale tree as a mean to “introduce” in a way tyria to the sylvari which directly come from the dream which was created by the pale tree which was created by mordy.

About what you said about the dragons not being interesting since they didn’t show any motivations and whatnot i agree what anet needs to do tho is not nececerally move away from the dragons but to strenghten their characters since not all of them are the same, for example primordus might not even care about the reaces since he doesnt need any bodies to create his armies, mordy keept going about all being a port of him and if we deny him we face oblivion while jormag doesn’t control living being by force but offers promises of power (thats why some norms or sons of svanir can decline his offers.

That’s why they shake things a bit up. They noticed that six dragons is too much and as it seems they try to get them done as fast as possible as seen in the new story. Jormag and Primordus will fight each other somehow

they will not kill 2 elder dragons in a lw season its too big of a scope they will prob make a semi ending to both primordus and jormag’s story by the end of the lw and introduce krak so that we will have a reason to go to the rystal desert.

What the title suggest pls for the love of god don’t even consider nerfing challenge mode for the nightmare fractals since ppl can clear it means its doable so for not stupidly overtuned. So yeah the rewards aregreat the are daily they are balanced because the content it self is hard everything is perfect.

(this might be over the top but maybe bufff the bosses so the orbs dont get reflected in all of the cases they do like the cc phase on the second boss but yeah that might be over kill for some)kay thnx bai.

On the flip side, the footprints for the new legendaries last for a tiny amount compared to the old ones. In fact, for many, they might as well not exist due to the incredibly short duration.

I agree – I love the added challenge as well!

However, can you guys offer any tips to get around the 2nd ‘orb cap phase’ of the final boss? Last night we went at it numerous times but never could get past that part

tbh the second phase feels easier than the first most likely because the aoes on the ground are more easily avoidable but yeah thats a parts where only practice makes better keep trying lad !!!

Today’s release of Nightmare shows off this new encounter design framework in full force, I encourage you to take a crack at it and let us know what you think.

It’s great overall, but something must be done with projectile defense abilities. When one of oldest mechanics in game is simply thrown out of window it doesn’t feel right. Maybe make them reduce orb damage, or slow them, if complete deflection feels too cheesy.

personally i feel the fractal is perfectly balanced there is proectile reflection or mitigation where its need but not everwhere so it becomes faceroll easy o normal mode you can walk left and right and avoid most while also passing inbetween them when they get far from each other. Overall its really ok and balanced i wouldn’t nerf it at all not the normal one but not the challenge mote as well

and from wat i noticed most projectiles cannot be stopped by such abilities (im refering to the buletstorm at each phase of the last boss

necros aren’t that bad sure they got rekt with the latest balance patch but their crazy survivability make up for their not so great dps thats why they are atm the easiest class to have in fractals.

this a bit of a wierd spot and im obviously biassed because i made flameseeker like a months before shooshadoo was added but it feel like some of the new legendaries are just more flashy and cool in terms of effects than the old legendaries. For example astralaria and frostfang as well as shooshadoo and flameseeker now, im not saying that both frostfang and flameseeker dont have animations and i understand that flameseeker got some animations on the past as well as some projectile animations this patch but overall the effect show way less than the effect of their hot counterparts. (would be really awesome if flameseeker had the hand effect like shooshado has as well as frostfang having an explosion of ice when drawn and over all have their effects show abit more like footsteps draw effects etc).

I feel the poor kitten gear hase is a really easy way to give you purpose and reward in an mmor and since gw2 doesnt have that its hard to keep motivated i understand you can go for legendaries rare skins or whatever but in the end they are just gloryfied skins that cost much much gold, i dont say taht bad but having gear making you stronger was a great way of keep playing a game.Now i dont say that gw2 needs to ahve a grear treadmill but it need to have some thing that gives a reason for someone to play it for more tahn 2 hours per day just to get the dailies for no real reason other than to get that skin you want.

Tldr skins are fine and stuff but they are not meaningful rewards and players will not stay long term for rewards as such.

Yo uhmm many ppl might not like this but this is something that might requires some tweaking for the better of the game.

I believe tarrir multyloot in its current state is something that hurts anet more than an content drought and i will explain.The idea is that the farming is so efficient that ppl nowdays dont need to use real money to buy stuff from the gem store.

“oh these chaos glose look nice i wonder if i should put money to buy them ?”
“nope why would you do taht just go farm tarrir 4-5 times and you will have the gold”

Now i know that not everyone think or acts that way but ets be real a big part of the playerbase does that and i think it shows on their quartelly updates they putted out regarding anets income for tose quarters.

So yeah i belive anet needs to nerf it down or change t so its still worth for ppl farming it but not powerfarming it non stop and not having to worry about gold or gemstore again.

Maybe the encounter could give you a buff witch will not allow yo to be rewared from doing tarrir for the remaining time (5-8 hours, a day tops).

I don’t care if it’s rehashed or whatnot, I am extremely excited for the new Fractal because the ambiance is unique and it offers us a chance to see more S1 LW content that we would (realistically) never see otherwise.

also: Scarlet Hologram fractal when, that kitten was absolutely amazing and would easily be a good encounter to rework as a stepping stone for raids with the mechanics it had. On top of that the music and whatnot.

Scarlet Hologram boss Fractal would be pretty much amazing.

They could replace the mai trin 100 boss lvl with the scarlet hologram as nai trin really isnt worthy of being the last boss fractal its easier than many of the previous ones.

They are not afraid… ts ctually much easier to say raids are hard and complain about it rather than actually sacrifice some time studying the encounter builds rotations etc. to be able to do the raids. Theres also the fact that training guild are not the easiest thing to come by but again ppl prefer complaining rather than go through the effort of finding a guild group.

tbh the fact that we cant play the season one isnt that bad now since the story after season 2 rarely every give reference to scarlet and what she did, i understand wanting to experience content but i cant relate with what you mean an outsider you are not been called a boss becauseyou brought scarlet down you are been called a boss because at bringing dragons down there isnt anyoone beter in tyria atm.
I would also like playing the first season just to play it
it doesnt take anything away from the experiebce and the narative not having it same way it does not take in the first episode of season 3 the big part the white mantle play and your stance towards them as the mercenary who stopped their plans in the raids versus not having done the raids and experiencing all that.

Just because these share themes with previous content does not mean that they are not new. We don’t know what they’re doing with the new fractal, so it’s a bit presumptuous to assume a copy & paste. You’re also assuming that this fractal was ready when the Chaos ready months ago. I don’t know why you brought up Glint’s Lair as that was past of LS2.

Yeah, it won’t be a copy and paste but it might seem a bit…. stale to a veteran player. It’ll probably be good fun regardless, and I’ve got my fingers crossed that pristine toxic spores drop frequently enough to lower the prices of those toxic utility consumables a bit.

I mentioned Glint’s lair because it was a story episode that felt like it would make a good fractal, and I see no reason to stick to one season when re-purposing story content into fractals.

4 months between fractal island releases doesn’t seem too bad to me considering there is also work being done updating other fractals. I think it only seems slow because the insanely long stretch of no content makes it feel like we are “owed” a lot now. But if we can consistently get 3 islands a year + updates to existing fractals, along with other pve releases like LS, raids, and current events, all while building towards the next expansion, I would say that is a pretty solid content output.

It seems slow because they’ve released entire raid wings at once, and fractal islands don’t make for good individual releases. Now, I can appreciate the constraints they are working with and have absolutely no knowledge of the industry at all, but individual fractals tend to be pretty short, thus they work better in bundles.

they have that many ppl working on fractals and that much money to invest on new fractals

We tried asking for more difficult content and raids before and lets just say…

They failed on both accounts for raids we didn’t start really hammering the need home until after Tower of Nightmares because that’s how raiding in this game should have been.

As for difficult content in GW1 we had the story path to which you basically had an easy time playing the core story. Then you had maps that the story path didn’t even touch at all and those were the difficult maps the ones people had to pay runners to traverse through. They gave us HoT instead which was way to hard to be on any sort of story path and way to easy to be deemed difficult content. Hot should have had additional maps not tied to the story with greater difficulty and people who only wanted to complete the story wouldn’t have to run through pocket raptors and smokescales.

Tons of people did quit and there are indeed less people on these very forums. Some still don’t understand that the story path for HoT was way to difficult in regards to any game as other games know to use roads and fewer mobs on the paths main story campaigns take through a map.

The fact they haven’t fixed it or done something as simple as move a few pocket raptor mobs to different parts of the map speaks volumes about Anet.

the raid maps as well and lvling world updates are hots maps tho :/

Even tho i agree with you that the open world side of the game is quite easy dont forget open worlds puprose isnt to be challenging its to push a narative and immerse the player through events story which the player gets rewarded for participating. That is only one part of the game i strongly believe the main game consists of dungeons/raids/fractals/pvp/wvw and a little of open world but because open world is well open… that means that not everyone can do it as easil as you can :/thats why the rest of the parts of the main game i listed earlier have a scale of some short.

What ill say now is quite diff from hat you suggest but i would agree if they could make the open world or the whole game in general harderif that helped ppl form friendships and communities to complete (like dungeons and raids in vanilla wow or ff14) and not just an lfg where you get matchmade with ppl you wont bother remembering but thats quite a diff thing from what you suggest.

you can do eveything in this game and not be social also social =/= making lfg and linking builds or stating that you know strats for pvp pve etc but there can be a social ascpect the game just doesnt force you to do that thats the reason wow was the top mmo and why most mmos cant reach it

“DISCLAIMER” I am not certain if this feature exists in other MMOs but it crossed my mind and i immediately connected it with gw2.
So ok here it goes… New player icon!! Ok what i mean and is that newely created accounts will have an icon next to the name of their char/s (acount bound you see) for a certain period of time (five months, maybe a year) that will indicate that this player is new to the game (it could be a smily face with a high five or something). This might sound small and out of the blue since we have many more qol feature that we need but hear me out.
Escpecially in the pve scene (i dont pvp so dont know how things go there) new ppl after they reached max lvl will want to start fractals or do the harder dungeons (arah etc ) or wonna get into the hot content or even raids, most of these ppl when they join a fractal group or a raid or a meta map through lfg dont say that they are new most of the times or they do once in the chat and it later goes unotticed but the rest of the ppl in that group/squad/map. There is where the icon comes in place anet could present this as a mean to identify new players so older players can see that these ppl might not be as experienced as they expect in the encounter or the class itself they play this can lead (in some kicks if the guys are pricks (which already happens so yeah…), or it could lead to ppl at the start in the lobby asking nicely if the new guy/girl is experienced in the content they are about to do and offer valuable info on the encounters or class mechanics and trick that they new player probably doesn’t know. This will create a much warmer and friendlier environment for the existing as well the new players. Ofc the icon of a new player will dissappear after set period of time and the player will be notified once he logs in after said dissappearance has occured.

if yo have objections (shame on you :P) you can suggest some improvements or in a civilised way say that my suggestion is kitten :P and if you agree with the idea and have more little tweaks and ideas to add feel free to upvote it so i guess the devs can find it as well as giving your own thoughts in the matter coz i really believe this can make the game’s community and health better

It gives the title Fatebreaker, so I guess it is intended to be a difficult feat to get the collection done without buying anything. Seems fine to me the way it is.
It is also in the “Rare collection” category, so expected to be difficult if some basic collections cost 100s of gold already.

I could care less about the title, but more about the reliquary. How is it fine for this crap to cost more than a legendary?

And on top of that, it has nothing to do with fractals…at all. It only has fractal in its name. But have fun buying that salvaged essence that costs 3000 gold. Not to mention there’s only one on the tp.

oh you are talking about the salvaged thinges yeah took me a while to remember because i havent seen any of these drop in ages yeah i think something that is fractal related should be acessible through fractals even if its paid with gold ( but a reasonable amount ofc to reflect to the gold that ppl make from fractals, like how asc chests and weapons skins from raids cannot be sold in the tp.
