Converted to Zerker: A story

Is there the chance you misunderstood the thief?

Meaning, he had high toughness as well, and could not drop aggro due to this?

I agree with the rest though, in principle. I do tend to still have some defensive stats on my builds, but I almost always have a couple zerker pieces, and almost always run with ruby stuff on my jewelry.

That’s a point. It’s a shame that not only do we have n expectation of the way mmos are suppose to be played but we also expect other players to bad mouth us.

Either way, it led Vawn to look into new possibilities with a pretty positive outcome on his part.

Whilst you can’t go full support there are ways you can support other players without sacrificing damage and defence.

For example the rangers best personal heal skill is Healing Spring, which is also an AoE heal. So any time you’re healing yourself you’re also healing everyone around you (and if there are other players around I usually try to position myself so that several players taking damage are in the area). They also have various AoE condition removal skills.

Elementalists and guardians of course have a lot of AoE support skills.

I get a buzz when I see people actually making a beeline to a healing spring at events since it means those players have knowledge of the game. A lot of players seem to ignore that potential though.

I’ve tried to make support characters but I’ve been a little disappointed by my efforts. One of my favourite rangers was going Healing until it became it obvious he couldn’t hurt anything either (don’t you people start!).

Healing ele was deleted. I had to remake her though since my daughter kept asking where she was.

Healing guardian seems to be doing alright but I don’t know if that’s just incidental or I’m actually doing something right. She hits like a ton of bricks as well.

Support engineer is moving along but it’s early days. He’s fun though.

I came to the conclusion months ago that kill or be killed comes first and then support a far second but I keep on trying to see if I can get it to work.

I’ve seen people express that they love grieving players until they rage quit. Often enough that it’s becoming quite a disturbing trend. Is this the type of people that play MMO’s? Being my first one, I’m really wondering if MMO’s are filled with kittenbags or not?

Especially, as an American, helping others should come as second nature. It’s how we’re raised in my part of the states.

So the question is, is causing misery part of the MMO motif?

Yes.

Temporary Content

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I enjoyed Frost and Flame, and hopefully I’ll enjoy the next one too. I really think that eventually there will be two or three Living Stories at a time spread over the maps that will keep people busier than this first one did.

And surely they have people working on be permanent content. I’ve only been playing since the beginning of the year and it already feels like more has been added to the game in this time than I saw in other mmos in a similar time. Especially considering how young the game still is.

Also, I’m old enough not to be particularly disappointed by things if they don’t pan. Not rage quit disappointed anyway (not aimed at anybody here).

The only thing more illogical than a Norn Engineer is a Sylvari Engineer. <grin> Still, both make sense in a weird kind of way, and kinda what makes the world interesting when there’s all these weird combinations.

So you would suggest the Emergency Crate Drop (Class) Elite Skill for Engineer? Or would you still go with spiritwolf summon (which is available to all characters)?

Emergency Crate, Steven. It’s usually an absolute life saver when you get in a bit over your head. Only luck can save you when you get way over your head and we Norn engineers can’t skill that

And this is from DDO. Turbine does night time pretty well. Its not too dark and looks nice.

I love the open the world in this game. I go everywhere and do everything.

I was put off dungeons a few months ago because of a jerk in a pug but I’ve been thinking I’d really like to experience them again. I’d like to find a guild where I can play whatever character I’d like within any dungeon that’s run. That might be difficult but there must be some out there. I’ll get around to looking one day.

Plenty of guilds out there like that. My guild is like that. We don’t care if a run takes longer or if it’s most efficient. We run dungeons for fun.

I figured there must be. I ran the molten facility yesterday twice with different people who didn’t care who was what. From the guy who was swinging Eternity to the poor little bloke who kept getting mashed and left the group out of embarrassment everybody just ran and did the job. That put me back in the dungeon running frame of mind.

Yes. Linneas and the vicious tacklin’ rabbits.

whats the story for that one ?

No real story, you are collecting fur while getting knocked down by bunny rabbits, quite annoying I thought. Leads to an event that you kill a veteran jotun.

you see, thats not a quest, thats a task,

now imagen you had been given the quest to save a womens daughter from a jotun up in the mountains and you had to sneak up to its cave covering your scent with the fur of rabbits, but while escaping you get corned by the jotuns brothers and have to defend this girl from being killed, after returning her safe you discover she had be promised to the jotun as part of a deal when she was first born but the mother had changed her might after she was taken, the girl find out, leaves her family and demads you take her to LA where on the way she insist you show her how to fight as she wants to join the lion guard but was never aloud to (as she held at home by her mom for the day to be handed over to the jotun. <——-

now thats what id called an interesting quest. do you lot have any remakes you would rather see?

He got it wrong anyway. The heart there is collecting bags of food while dodging the tackle rabbits. The event is collecting fur for crazy Linnea so she can hunt down a mythical beast. She does get disappointed in the end.

Your idea sounds like a potential Living Story thing. Keep playing so you can see if something similar appears later in the game’s life

They did it to slow the gear grind down. They want gear progression to go up as the game gets older, rather than have you grind out all your max gear in a week, then have no more gear-oriented goals. Also it’s 30 laurels per amulet, and you get 10 from monthlies, so it’s not THAT bad.

While I don’t want multiple dailies (shiver) i do think that the laurel system is alt unfriendly. To get amulets for each of my alts it will take 180 laurels. Assuming you get 40 laurels every 30 days, it will take 4-5 months. That’s not terrible, but it’s not great either.

And no I don’t want everything NOW, kitten lazy entitled whatever else some troll is going to post.

I’ve just got to say, as someone with over 700 hours in the game, I could never handle more than one level 80. To have 6 level 80’s, you have got to be willing to do a LOT of work to maintain all of them. You give yourself an incredibly difficult challenge, and then complain that the game makes it too hard for you to keep up. Well duh, of course! If you guys can’t handle the amount of work it takes to gear up 5+ characters, then DON’T!

Mate, they wont die if you don’t feed them!

If he sticks with his 6 80s and continually plays at his own pace and in his own way for the next two years then there is a good chance that he will better off than someone who stuck to just one 80. Or maybe not. But we don’t know what Anet will introduce into the game later.

And I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. In my opinion the only thing alt-unfriendly is storage.

My point exactly, “mate”. It’s a long term investment. Yet the OP wants immediate satisfaction when using a long term strategy. I’m fine with it taking 2 years, he isn’t.

What is the purpose of the multiboxing rule?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: zenleto.6179

zenleto.6179

You having trouble with your accounts again, Wirldwide?

you’re looking at it wrong, you’re not considering that the multi-boxer takes up 3 slots of game play just as 3 players would.

It comes down to multiboxing being Pay2win.

Why should you be able to get 3times the drops, get 3times the resources from nodes, be 3 times as effective in combat as another player, simply because you paid for 2 extra accounts?

Ok, let’s keep this discussion to 3. We’ll use your numbers…

Now let’s talk about combat. You’re saying three characters against one player is unfair. As just stated in other replies here, you’re making the wrong comparison. You’re stating that three players against one player is unfair. Well, guess what? That unfairness exists in all MMOs regardless of any multi-boxing. In any MMO if one player meets three players all similarly geared, the three players should beat the one player in terms of combat (PvP). Wouldn’t you agree? Your argument goes against the very nature of grouping, character movement in MMOs and the world in which MMOs are built.

I’ve been avoiding this thread so far but I feel I have to add in here. Three individual players vs one player is the game. Three characters controlled by one individual player vs one character controlled by one individual player is not the game.

Yeah wouldn’t have been a bad to do it. I’ve been thinking that eventually we’ll get maybe 2 or 3 Living Stories on the go at the same time. That would really make some of the poor old forgotten maps a bit of life.

@ Morrigan. That was my feeling about Harathi the first time I went there as well. Took me a while to want to go back but I’ve decided the camp chain is one of the best things in the game (my opinion of course). Its pretty nonstop and I always need a decent break after.

I’ve levelled a few characters through there and I’ve never seen anyone do Gargantula (including myself). Never even tried it. There usually are a few people working on the big event chain through the camps though. And there is a big daily chest at the end of that.

Might just be your time zone.

And I agree there should be one or two more Asura gates around. The one to Fields of Ruin is nice to have.

I’d say that’s because Gargantula was bugged since launch, and as far as I know it still is. I tried it a couple of months ago, the dumb spider reset constantly just like it did when I first tried him not long after launch. You literally couldn’t kill it. I swore to never waste my time on it again.

Yeah? That would explain the lack of /map calls for it. Provided I really am thinking of the correct event, I usually run off while the NPC is calling for help for the captain. Puny Human vs Gargantula! There is only one winner.

Also having some from Lions Arch to the Orders. Though that would make it a very lazy trip to the Whispers.

It’s not bugged on all servers. That vista was available on IoJ a few hours ago. I didn’t even know there was a bug for this until last week (and all the complaints just recently).

Fire up the Hyperbowl ma, we’re going to town!

Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?

I hope you didn’t actually buy all those keys from the cash shop. There are children, cold and starving, living on a street near your home. That cash would have went a long way in their frayed, worn pockets.

It’s his/her money – he/she can spend it whatever way he/she wanted.

You’re right. Digital pixels are way more awesome then helping starving children anyways.

It’s not his responsibility to help anyone..

Anyways..
Since that is your point – why not cut costs your own and help someone? Internet is digital pixels anyways – you can live without it. Oh, GW2 is also composed of digital pixels – that $60 could feed some 5-6 children.

I buy socks, underwear, blankets, jackets, gloves, hats, bottled water, toiletries and McDonald’s gift cards to hand out to the homeless, on a regular basis. I canceled my WoW sub and bought GW2 so I could use the subscription money to help more people.

You see, at one time I was homeless myself. I lived in an alley between a music store and a fire department. The music store owner took pity on me and gave me a job. It lifted me out of my state of destitution and put me on the right path. I now help others as often as I can.

What have you done?

Good for you, mate.

Unfortunately the post above yours can also include your message if you read it that way.

What people do with their own money is their business (as long as it doesn’t hurt the community).

Obviously TC wants it to be everyone’s business…given the mentality that this brag topic uses to direct discussion. It’s cut and dry that the money is TC’s to do with as TC chooses, that’s not the issue. The issue is making a topic and video about this simply for no tangible reason other than for vanity or bragging rights. It’d be a completely different thing if TC was using this to draw statistical data, but TC is not. This is 100% a brag topic and you could argue that the discussion is unhealthy for the community.

The point is, what kind of discussion would be expected?

“You’re awesome!”
“Uber L33t SKILLZ”

Nah, that’s not how intelligent people would view this topic, who in their right mind would even care to say such useless things?

TC can do whatever TC wants with TC’s money, but don’t tell people they can’t criticize TC for doing so, because TC obviously wanted to showboat it.

I wasn’t criticising the criticism.
