Jade Quarry
Onslaught [OnS]
Look, man, with betas coming up and out there, I don’t wanna be in a position where people have to decide between competing in this useless garbage, or enjoying themselves/leaving feedback on HoT. Delay it until expac.
I think T1 NA has a strange overall community. Meaning, since we’ve been fighting a decent number of these people since launch (no, really), or are now fighting alongside them, there’s a lot of friendships that have developed over the years. It’s pretty hard to explain if you’re not up here, but it’s evident to most of us. There’s always sour apples, and people who are too salty for words, but overall… it’s highly dysfunctional, but it works. So, no, I do not believe T1 NA has the worst community. Not by a long shot.
Will the people who cried for 3 years for a new map, then are crying because you are giving them a new map ever be quiet?
In all seriousness: Will PPK come back? It was the best thing.
We (JQ) had it on BG BL last night as well. We had regular disconnects, skill lag out the kitten, and at one point the map just locked up for everyone.
Enough with the seasons. They have broken more servers and commanders than anything else anet could have done. If they are keen on highlighting the GOOD things that the game/WvW has to offer, they will hold off on that crap until post-expansion.
Yes, 100%. Especially since the queue times could be far longer than the standard 2-4 mins for a pvp match, so you’re more likely to go read reddit or something.
Hopefully never again. Ever. No. No. Do not want. Tournaments can die in a tire fire.
SF doesn’t. We will assist other guilds when we come across em. We kind of fail at pve, tho, so it may not really be ‘help’ >_>
Because so many get them confused (really? really…?) they tend to be jokingly called Hay and Bills in SF.
Strike Force has both teams for spvp and wvw. Feel free to apply: http://www.strikeforceguild.com/home
Please don’t make PPK a random addition, it really needs to be permanent. It’s helped so much, and makes fights more exciting/rewarding.
Our NA guilds vary in what they run/numbers, depending on the night.
SF runs between 15-30, sometimes less/more. Raids vary between closed and open.
KA runs fairly large, and can queue a map with militia support.
TWL varies between 15-25, and will pugmand or run closed, depending.
Our smaller forces:
IMPS, MUSA, HzH and HIGH which run 5-10 sized havoc.
Blobbing seems to be an issue that arises… from blobs, really. If a 20 man group is only getting blob fights from the other servers, they will have to either find someone to run with, or deal with getting blobbed all night. This stems from — as best I can guess — not enough commanders to run separate teams. A map may have 1 tag, and that’s where everyone is. At this point in wvw, this isn’t exactly surprising.
Most of the time, if you just reach out to the enemy commander, you can get a fight without an AJ. Like, between SF and TWL, if they ask for a fight, we’ll back off and stand back unless they ask for help. The reverse is also true. That comes down to communication and respect for the teams involved. Since T1 has a lot of militia, those players have to be taken into account, and bulk up teams for all servers. It can be harder to find pure guild vs guild fights, without militia, but it’s certainly possible and isn’t a problem to arrange. Scrims and GvG may not be as plentiful as in T2, but happen often enough.
TC seems to have the most NA numbers, but maybe lacks commanders/pugmanders? That’s how it seems, anyway. BG has a decent mix of guilds, and all of them give good fights. JQ is doing better, seeing as how our death and doom was predicted not too long ago. We did lose our gvg guilds, and 60-80 people in SG, but the addition of TWL (and Kazo in EU) helped stabilize things. That’s about where we are in NA on JQ: stable. It could be a little better, but it could be a lot worse.
I can’t speak for TC and BG in terms of reset queues. We’ve just recently started having small queues on maps for reset, as for a while when people left… we did not have any.
Any specific questions can be answered on our forum: http://jadequarry.com/page/index.html
Make it contingent upon that guild using buffs to claim stuff, and sure. You should not be able to gain any sort of influence from just claiming, and leaving the camp/tower/keep/sm short on buffs. You want some benefit? Give some benefit first.
PPK should be a permanent feature. It allows a slightly behind server to catch up by looking for fights, and this is a GOOD thing. There’s an finite amount of PPT to be had, but PPK is infinite.
Anet, if you’re listening, keep PPK. Give us random fluxes (like the no white swords), but keep this one.
It’s so disorganized and messy. Would it really have been that big of a deal to section it out? It’s not even worth posting here anymore.
T1 NA
Times I’ve played: some EU and NA/late NA.
Both time zones, you will be able to take anything as long as there is no scout. This means, you can take it without a fight, which is boring. I don’t wander into WvW thinking, yay, now I can fight more doors! We all like to knock on doors to get people to come out and fight us. Now, well, they can’t come out if they can’t hear/see us knocking. Even small havoc groups, there was always some excitement involved. How much can our group get away with? Well, that’s kind of out the window as it turns out: a whole lot.
Still bugged this morning. Every instance I’ve entered (6 last night; 3 this morning) are finished, timer ticking down, no progress.
Bumping!
We’ve had people make their way back to the game, and make their way back to JQ, so things are looking up right now.
Lol, no, we queue 1 map most nights and EB + JQBL on resets. Just ask the few BG who are now on JQ, they’ll sort out that crap if you don’t believe me
Chaba has it right. Unless someone implodes, YB will not move up. Glicko is a harsh mistress.
Also, really, BG is not imploding, guys >_<
On JQ, the folks who verify add a users anet name (your name on these forums) in the description field before they verify. To get verified, you need to be actually on the borderland with the person verifying.
That way, if we suspect someone may be a spy, we can quickly add them as a friend and see where they’re at. This also prevents people from trying to pose as someone they are not. It’s not foolproof, and you will always have spies, but this extra step works for us.
Really, it seems when people get salty about ‘spies’, especially in T1, it’s just that these people have been playing against us for years, and can read our movements without having to spy.
We’ve been getting some excellent fights lately vs BG and TC. Come and join the fun, if you’re looking to test your skills vs some of the most fun guilds to fight against!
Overall, the environment of T1 is a lot more relaxed lately. A lot more looking for fights, and less hiding in princess towers.
Hey, Justin.
I highly suggest registering on our forum: http://jadequarry.com/page/index.html as that’s the easiest way to find a guild that suits your needs.
Greetings!
Jade Quarry is currently seeking guilds and players in all time zones.
What we can offer you:
Non-stop action fighting BG and TC. Regardless of the time you play, there will always be fights to be had, whether they be small havoc, or large open field battles.
A growing GvG community. OS is full most nights, of guilds looking to test their skills.
An active and fun WvW community, backed by a solid foundation of players that have been in tier 1 since release.
Guilds that enjoy running hardcore, as much as they do running in quaggan tonics.
Community-run events, with prizes.
Server website and forums – http://jadequarry.com/page/index.html
Dedicated public teamspeak server, open for all JQ members to use.
A deep love and appreciation for our guildless players, or players not in one of the big WvW guilds, otherwise known as Quarrians. JQ would not be where it is today without this very important part of our player base.
A positive and healthy outlook on your time spent in game. We love WvW, but we enjoy all aspects of the game as well.
Little to no queue times. We know T1 has a reputation of having nonstop 24/7 queues, but I assure you that it’s simply not true. JQ’s queue times, if they exist, are confined to one map and no longer than 5-10 minutes in duration. Reset queues as of late have been 2-3 maps, and 10-20 people deep.

So does this change mean that anything with a waypoint won’t go contested unless there’s orange swords? Can anyone confirm?
T1 queues are dropping below 2k, please remove the cap, so everyone can stack into T1!
They had the wvw meeting tonight. I think all those stacked in t1 felt its time to get them caps removed.
2k? HAHAHA. We had 10-20 man queues on reset night, then maybe a 5 man queue on one map during the week if people are out there.
The notion that T1 is full of queues is so outdated that it’s not even funny.
TC and JQ have fairly even coverage (with opposite strong periods) so we have a close match between us. That’s about all I can ask for when up against BG. I didn’t mind the repeat match, though we were cheated out of an excellent TC/JQ/SoS match. Everyone wanted that match… well, except BG probably
Let’s hope a LOT changes before they have another one of these useless tournaments.
GVG is on T1 .
This is WvW not GvG, go somewhere else!
Oh wait :P
There is GvG in other tiers, go join a guild there, you aint getting to the bandwagon servers any time soon.
But that’s the problem, GvGers are taking up WvW spots for their games, ruining WvW for people who are playing, and throwing others into queues.
Not really. There’s very very few queues these days, even in T1. Guilds use OS for their gvg, so they aren’t taking up map space, or causing queues anyway.
“How do we give worlds a fighting chance throughout the duration of the match?”
For one, if you’re in 1st place, you should receive less points from taking structures from 2nd place, and even less from 3rd.
However, 2nd and 3rd place should get more points from taking structures from 1st. This could and should encourage the underdogs to pick on 1st, and not lead to 1st and 2nd pillaging 3’s structures for points. Currently it makes no sense to pick on the smaller server, when you should be always challenging 1 for their position. In lopsided matches, which happen from time to time, you could see matches getting closer to evening out this way.
We don’t need no stinkin tournament to get good fights, I hope. More good fights, less standing watch in maps with 3 waypoints but no people.
The fall tourney failed because there is no risk, and no real reward.
Let’s shake it up a bit and solve the population unbalance in a more fair way rather then closing servers down just for the sake of it…
Servers placing 3rd in their respective tiers over a 8 week period will be closed down, and players forced to jump servers to one of a different tier for no charge!
You think your server is worth fighting for? Prove it!On a side note, I am on Blackgate, but this is not an idea that spawns from that. An 8 week tourney gives jq and tc just as much advantage to 2v1 us and get rid of is once and for all! This goes for a lot of other tiers as well!
Discuss…
Forcing BG to disband would be horrible for the game on every level. Hell, forcing anyone to disband because of a stupid tourney is bad. The whole tourney system is the opposite of fun times.
I don’t know about what goes on over at BG, but I firmly believe a healthy, balanced population is what keeps the game healthy. It’s way out of whack right now, but killing off servers, and forcing people to literally OT themselves to death or face some sort of community kill? No thanks.
I’m all for the alliances idea, really. I’m curious, though, about a few things:
1. JQ has a large militia population. What happens to those folks in this situation? Do they get the option to join whichever alliance sounds the most favorable to them? Hopefully without having to pay to do so?
2. Do you take guilds from all over and shuffle them to include guilds from all servers? So, say, an alliance with my guild SF, TC’s STUN, BG’s OnS, SoS’s TS, etc…? That sounds fun
3. Will alliances be populated evenly, so that everyone can enjoy a little ‘off-NA-hours’ coverage?
They did say unique:
“Each matchup will be unique, and every win—or upset—will make a huge difference!” — https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/announcing-the-world-vs-world-fall-tournament-2014/
You guys beat me to it. After last week’s positive discussion on siege trolls I wanted to bring up the topic of population imbalance and ideas that you have on it.
There are a couple of ideas already going in this thread:
- population caps
- merge servers
- Battle Groups
I’d like to join in this brainstorm with some questions on these. For merging servers, how do we determine who gets merged? Where would we merge them to? How do we maintain any sort of world pride or identity they have? How do we handle potentially merging with your mortal enemies?
For population caps, how do we deal with the longer queues on the worlds that can field enough people? If it is dynamic, would players be able to manipulate it? For example, our world is ahead so we all agree to not play WvW so the other worlds are capped down and can’t counter us.
For Battle Groups, Asglarek mentioned more details are on the way. I’d love to hear more.
I’m approaching this as a brainstorm. The topic is “Approaches to correcting overall population imbalance”. I know there is a related topic of 24 hour coverage but I’d like to keep that as a separate conversation for now.
Please keep this friendly, constructive and on topic. We had a really good discussion on the siege troll thread I’m hoping we can kick around some ideas and have another great discussion here. Feel free to add additional ideas that I didn’t list out but please make sure they are on topic.
Thanks,
John
Population Caps:
Iffy on this one. You can have a ‘queue’ full of people, but that doesn’t mean all of those people are actually playing. You’ve got scouts, you’ve got people being jerks and crafting, you’ve got people who love citadel so much they need to afk there for 10 mins…
Merge Servers:
The mortal enemy thing isn’t an issue, at least in T1. I’ve been playing with or against most if not all of these people since launch. Besides, most of us can talk and joke with each other outside of WvW because of those longstanding connections.
As for who to merge, that’s a tough one. The lower tiers like their small set ups. They don’t need or want to be pushed into the stress of having to worry about a 24h battle. A merge of groups would likely keep the matches similar to what folks in those blocks are used to. So, 1+2, 3+4, etc. 12 servers, and not 24. It would be disruptive, sure, but 12 servers of decent coverage beats 24 where one server might have a piece of gum and some tic tacs defending a tower from a zerg.
I think I am desensitized to the concept of losing server identity since T1 has changed so much these last two years. Much of it has already been stripped away with megaservers anyway. Heck, we’ve had mergers (SoS into BG, SoR into TC, SBI into JQ/SoR…) that weren’t official, but still happened. You bring the new people in, you adapt, and then look for red names to kill.
This might also provide less … terrible match ups? With coverage relatively ‘equal’, you’d less see of the crud that is pretty much every match up this week.
I’m not going near battlegroups. Anything that looks and smells like a zombie eotm k-train, is probably just that.
Also, jeez, will the ‘t1 has 24/7 queues’ rumor finally please die? The only people who still believe it are people who don’t play up here.
(edited by zhonnika.1784)
May as well say that there’s only 5 servers in gold, which makes it just all the more lame.
Glicko really needs a good flushing after the season. Let everyone re-sort to where their active population determines is the best fit. Won’t happen, but a girl can dream.
week 1: doubleteam blackgate
week 2: doubleteam blackgate
week 3: doubleteam blackgate
week 4: doubleteam blackgate
No. Just no.
I’d love a bigger server pool to pick from. Would be a welcome change. At the same time, I’d feel like a big bully picking on lower tiered servers.
Ark did not come to JQ. Not even sure where that rumor came from.
T2 guilds do seem to be moving to T1 for fights/gvg, but there are still not even as many people up here as you would expect.
The maps have a bunch of fall damage bugs. Me and a guildie were killed last night during reset by walking through a portal into a structure. Other awful places are coming off the ruins near the southern bloodlust camp; the switchback down to NW camp; and the stairs when going down in SE tower x_x
Not much I can add to the foregoing and I agree with most of it. Anet has created a game that promotes zerging and rewards it richly. If things continue as they are I see the mists simply being the new Queensdale train.
The game was supposed to be about heroism. Now it’s more like..( deleted )
Saw this firsthand the other day. Player asks Train? in QD. Gets told train is dead. Player is dismayed, unable to figure out how they’re going to level without the train. Gets told to go into EOTM and train there. People in my guild only go to EOTM to level a new character.
Yeah, I think people were forgetting that the CDI they discussed, wasn’t going to be an open CDI on WvW, but rather a CDI on Seasons/Tournaments. Even if they posted it today, it wouldn’t be what you wanted to see, unless you’ve got some firey opinions about seasons.
The rating points should just be reset. Let everyone scuttle up and down and naturally fall where they should be. It was supposed to happen in early 2013, but never did.
1. Nope.
2. No. They put in a ‘space for bigger battles’ called Obsidian Sanctum. It’s in the former EB jump puzzle area, but GvG is not supported.
3. Not that I am aware of.
4. No.
5. Kind of? They put in “Edge of the Mists” which is a merged green/blue/red battle, but it’s really just a PvE karma/champ train.
6. Queue issue seems to have resolved itself for the most part.
7. No.
8. They added “Bloodlust” which is a mechanic that awards the server that holds 3/5 nodes with various buffs, as well as 1pt per stomp to their war score.
9. Related to 8 up there, you can make up a lot of PPT with stomps.
10. Arrow carts are still ridiculous, but always will be.
11. MERC is still active on JQ. I think NV on BG is Aussie. HIRE on TC has an Aussie pop as well, I believe. Not sure on the lower tiers, sorry.
12. No.
13. Don’t believe so.
14. No.
15. And no.
Tarkus still plays, he’s in OnS. Indevar still plays, and he drives for Night Shift [NS] on… SoS, I think.
So, there you have it.
With those that picked a mistforged weapon, did you get wardrobe unlock for the hero version as well?
Since there is a way to use the MF to upgrade a hero weapon to a mistforged, I was wondering if a mistforged gives you both unlocks or whether the MF is the way to get both.
I got the mistforged GS, and it unlocked the hero and mistforged hero versions.
Haven’t decided what to spend the other 300 on. Scepter maybe.
That would be correct. Depending on how your server places in the next tournament (whenever that is), you may be able to obtain one if you participate in it.
No, it’s per use. You have to throw it into the forge, and works just like your gift of magic/might/spiders/etc for creation of other weapons.
So no, you can only obtain 2 mistforged weapons this go round.
TC is a group of solid, wvw-minded folks, who also like to have fun. Great opponents.
Best of luck in your recruiting, guys!
Jade Quarry, a longstanding WvW establishment, is recruiting!
We are currently seeking guilds and players that run in the following timezones:

We’d love to talk with you, and arrange a meeting. Translators are available, if needed.
As part of our on-going effort to make T1 a better place for everyone, I encourage my competitors to refrain from commenting on this thread in a negative way. I wish them both luck with their respective recruitment efforts
Combining a higher tier with a lower tier would actually make more sense, due to the fact that the coverage holes the lower tier server has would be covered by the higher tier. For example, JQ + CD, would give CD the off-hours coverage they may need, and supplement the NA coverage for them both.
If you did this up and down the line, you’d see far less coverage issues. This would also solve the problem that comes up when you just blob up mostly NA servers and pit them against the top clusters.
What they’re asking, is if they transfer, will they be able to play on the borderlands, and not be stuck in only EOTM. It’s a good question.
