Jade Quarry
Onslaught [OnS]
Your scouts shouldn’t be typing anything. They should be in TS/discord/whatever, giving verbal scouting reports. It’s much quicker, and a lot more accurate. The traps would be easily avoided, anyway. Commanders would have 1-2 people to get marked, the same way they do now with sentries.
The anet dev we had with us on JQBL tonight — Hamm, I think? — said they would be disabling the oasis in an upcoming patch. If true, I believe that’s a step in the right direction. Disable it, until they can suss out whatever issues are making it lag so horribly. He then claimed fire keep for anet, and told us that if we didn’t defend it, we’d all be banned lol.
Alpine or Riot. It needs to happen now, as in this week’s reset. Do it. Just switch it back on, and … leave it. Let us have at least a few months of fun before you guys do…. you know, whatever you’re going to do. If you’re going to do anything.
Not to mention that the enemy, if they have your garrison, can slot emergency waypoint on it. That shouldn’t be a thing. You shouldn’t be able to slot that upgrade on anything if you can’t normally waypoint into it IMO.
I think the creators of gw2wvw had good intentions, but that place is horrific. There’s an excellent reason that collection of burning dumpster trash is referred to as the cancer forums.
If I had to guess here, it’s because they are testing backend things, and not the mechanics of actual WvW. My gut feeling has always been that they are changing things to be mega-server-y, and not changing how we actually play wvw itself. It wouldn’t matter if you had PvE players testing that, since it’s not a fundamental mechanic change. I mean, maybe this whole post is a crock of quaggan waste, which may also be the case
It’s k-training, and also fierce backcapping. Like, you still might be getting supply/hitting synthesizers and YB has 4 catas on whatever you’ve just capped.
Same. Was trying to buy Ori ore, and …. crashed. I submitted my info via the report that popped up.
For me, it’s crazy that Drone Race gives you 2 mastery points (silver, gold) and doing the ENTIRE tab of story achievements gives you… 1. There’s way too much emphasis put on the activities. As if they didn’t think we’d ever play them, so we are forced to instead. Bleh. It’s by far the worst part of the expac for me, and I doubt I will get the last 12 mastery points I need because I’d rather bash my face into the desk repeatedly.
It’s pretty bad, even with the reduction in number required. It lags the whole map out, and I can’t really see a benefit to it aside from guild missions… and let’s be real, the lag is not worth a commendation + 2 rares.
Thanks for the replies, guys.
Currently recenter is set to ‘space’ and open/close is set to ‘M’. I’ve tried changing both of these, and there’s been no change. If there’s some sort of conflict, I don’t really know what it is. I ran diagnostics for support last month, and they said the only way to fix it was clean install.
I did find an old (2 years old) thread on these forums from someone having the same problem, but there was no dev reply, or otherwise helpful advice posted to it. I guess I will reinstall, but it’s going to get pretty kitten old if I have to keep doing it once a month.
This bug is still occurring. Last time, support told me I needed to do a clean re-install, which I did. As you can see, it only lasted a month before it started happening again. I will re-install AGAIN, but if someone could fix this for the better…. that would be great.
Well, I get it. JQ and BG both have done exactly what YB is doing right now, it just…. happened 2-3 years ago. So, that’s why we’re kind of over it? It wasn’t a great time for you guys to hit T1, because we’re all very very beyond this stuff. We had amazing scouts, crazy siege placements/refreshing, siege training… you name it. Now, there’s no point. Was there ever a point? So, yeah, nothing new.
All servers being open at this point is a good thing, not because of the potential for large guilds moving around (which I don’t see happening for JQ!) but so the militia coverage can even itself out.
Going to guess that even if they could put in barriers around keeps/towers, people would find ways into them. Fix that way, and they’d be at it again. Instead of constantly patching what could be endless bugs (or ignoring them forever), they probably just wanted to avoid it all together.
Why are people so scared of PPK? It was fun last time! We did not see less roaming groups/havoc groups/fights. It was business as usual, just with added points.
Auto-upgrades are crap even up here in T1. Let’s see, we have massive no-lifer numbers + keeps being defensible to the point where you may as well not even try + silly, unneeded crap like shield generators (and I’m talking 3-4 at each gate, in every structure) and why even bother? It’s a one-sided experience, for the most part. I don’t even want to know what it’s like in the lower tiers, but it can’t be any better. Letting us delay them with yaks is a step in the right direction. I can kill yaks, because that blob can’t be everywhere all the time :>
Yeah, I’m all in favor. There isn’t much that can be done for T1… destacking would just roll a different server up, and create stagnation once again. There’s no magical rotation as the ‘alliance’ that went to YB found out. If there really is a magical reboot coming, let us have something different in the rotation until then.
And really, before anyone whines that they’ve been playing the same server for a few months…. JQ and BG will be playing each other for 3 years come February or so.
I have scouted so much in previous years, and maintained said upgrades. It’s a pain in the kittens to have to worry about it. People (That I know, which is a significant portion of my server :P) want to get out there and play, they don’t want to sit around babysitting upgrades. Leave that for the system to do. This is a game, not a job. Waiting around and watching the upgrades is a job.
I don’t wish to derail this thread, but since I was addressed specifically, I’m not actually a wvw forum specialist, and haven’t been since early October. They just haven’t fixed my forum title yet
To keep this on topic, I say HELL NO to manual upgrades in any form. Too much abuse, too many people who don’t understand upgrade order, too many ways that it can and has gone wrong. Auto upgrades are fine with the change. I do not wish to go back to the days of someone starting fortify before anything else because they clicked wrong or just wanted to keep you from having anything else. Sorry, no.
How does the yak/upgrade change work in regards to guilds having (seemingly) unlimited supply drops via guild upgrades?
Contrary to… well, most people on this forum, my guild actually likes the new borderland. The ability to kill yaks to delay upgrades will help us in those times when a server likes to upgrade their structures (mornings/early afternoon NA).
PPK may cause some folks to not come out and fight. But, well, they aren’t coming out to fight us now… so not much will change.
I’d like to add something here as a request: A glicko adjustment. It’s boring as kittens up here with no chance at fighting a different server, and destacking alone isn’t enough to add permanent variation. If WvW is changing as drastically as you’re all hinting at, let us have some different matches while we wait!
PPK! Finally!
Thank you, Reyana, for bringing so many different voices to the forefront. Have a happy holiday season, guys!
This is kind of hard to explain. So, normally when you click on a waypoint that someone has linked (Guild chat, whisper, etc) your map will move over to where the waypoint is and you can click/travel.
Since last night, this no longer works for me. If I click a waypoint, it opens the screen to where my character is currently standing, and that’s it – see screenshot.
When I’ve had this problem in the past, I was told to delete my local.dat file, and the problem would fix itself. It always did, until this time. What I have tried:
Deleting local.dat
Opening game again, trying a waypoint.
Repairing the game
Opening game again, trying a waypoint.
Deleting local.dat
Repairing game
Opening game again, trying a waypoint
Switching characters
Switching between 32 and 64 bit.
Nothing works
I’m honestly considering deleting the game and reinstalling, since that’s the only thing I haven’t yet done. What broke, and how can I fix it?
Oh, and this is NOT a case of me not understanding how to take waypoints, or not understanding how to waypoint between layers. I can open the map, move it around myself and click anywhere I want to go. I just cannot take a waypoint that has been linked.
We need a new guild wvw upgrade to stop NPC from attacking drakes! Should be cheap, like 100k large scales and 100k armored scales…
Thats just the blueprint, it cost 25g to activate (and is a one time use).
There isn’t anything remotely worth saving in WvW that I’d pay 25g to use it, let alone pay the ridiculous cost of scribing. Not even SM where you have to ‘build’ a waypoint.
On JQ, BL maps usually empty and can be k-trained. EB will have a queue. You’ll often be outmanned on the borderland maps, and I’d wager that the same is true for YB/BG.
Unpopular opinion: It’s 2-3 hours of the week; I’m actually fine with it. If my guild doesn’t rally, I’ll follow along with a different guild and then rally as normal in the evening. Carry on as normal.

I’d guess that the placement of those NPCSs and services were temporary after the destruction of LA. After all, Fort Mariner was rather different before, and you had to use a different bank/TP/gbank then to begin with. While I feel the new portal section is a bit smaller than what we’re used to, I think it’ll be fine. Get your stuff from the gbank, take a (free) portal, and off you go. I mean, I’ve played on JQ since beta and I’ve managed just fine on this front for years…
I will definitely check out EU! Where would EU players suggest that I visit first? Also, remember I am a little lowbie so that I can move this account around without killing myself in gems.
I was indeed working with the current opinions of the community at the time. A good portion of the comments were made within 1-2 days of my report, including those that were made while I was writing it up. Of course now, a week later, there are plenty of new opinions on the subjects I covered, perhaps this is a better time to see where the community stands and if any new opinions/concerns have been brought to light.
Hi, guys!
Here’s my stats, since I know you’ll ask:
WvW rank: 1444 / 48k+ kills
11,449 hours played in game, 7k+ of them on my elementalist
So… let’s see, some history. I have been on Jade Quarry since the first beta. My old GW1 guild that I moved to GW2 with loved the JQ game format so much in GW1 that we decided we had to move there. I honestly had no plans to WvW, and I was terrified of the concept at launch. However… I went in to map in September 2012, and the rest was history. I was hooked. Now, going on 3 years later, I still love it. I still play everyday.
I do have an alt account that I can move around as needed. I have numerous friends in T2 right now, most whom were on JQ previously, who are brilliant resources for what’s going on in that tier. That said, it’s nothing like being there myself to check it out, which I will do. If there’s somewhere you think I should check out first, let me know in the comments.
My first report on WvW went out last week, and focused on the topics that were recently introduced. Namely: Auto-upgrades, WvW ability points and the removal of guard stacks. My second report will be going out this week, and I’m keeping my eye on several threads at the moment. I hope to gather as much feedback from you guys as possible.
One thing that helps me out is if feedback (good and bad) is kept in one thread. Don’t worry about your comment being lost in the fold, as I read every thread from first to last page.
Anyway, that’s all for now!
Come run with us on JQ whenever you like
It’s way too early to determine if the changes will ‘kill off’ wvw. The fact of the matter is that we haven’t even played on the new map yet. We don’t know a darn thing about it other than what has been released. We don’t understand the tactics, the landscape, the secret corners and places to fight.
Everyone seems to be basing their OMG off the Alpine map, and we won’t be playing there. Start thinking ahead, and stop trying to wrap your brain around the current maps. Let’s give it a shot before we predict doom, gloom and rivers running with salty tears
All maps (Red/Blue/Green/EB) maps in T1 NA are spawning hostile guards inside and outside of keeps and towers. It’s very frustrating to not know if it’s a legit attack, or just guards.
Hey, Gengetsu!
Your best bet is to register on our community forums (with the same username you’re using here) and then inquire about finding a guild. Our members will be happy to help you find a home. Join us here: http://jadequarry.com
I have everything unlocked at this point, but many in my guild do not. I believe a point reset would be beneficial right now, as it’s been quite a few months since it last happened.
The score doesn’t matter now, so I don’t really see how it could possibly matter any less. Right now, we’re in a waiting period. The game itself is set to change, and the maps will for sure be changing. It’s just a really… blah period. I think what TWL and OnSL are aiming to do is to break up the blah and have fun with it. It’s nice to play your competition, and see what can be changed/improved. You can find weak areas, and you can feel pretty good about the strong spots.
I don’t think it’s weird. I think of T1 NA as one big, messed up family. We hate each other, but clearly we don’t want people to really go away. Whether or not our way is healthy, since we’re contributing to the gridlock of the tier, I think we’re doing what we can right now to have fun with the game format that we all still enjoy. What it should do is break down the walls between the servers, create new friendships/rivalries, give a hand up to a server that needs it, and… well, I can’t find anything bad about that.
Hopefully this makes crafting sup siege a little easier. It’s still kind of crappy, but not needing a skill point for every piece of it will be a blessing :P
What fun would a T8 server have playing two with T1 populations? Just think about that for a second.
It’s got nothing to do with not being able to WvW, skill-wise. In our case, we have ended up in eotm a few times as all other maps were queued. That the maps were full of uplevels is the fault of those players using it to level, rather than the fault of the guild there to WvW. It’s being used as intended from our end— as an overflow.
It messed too badly with EU, I think, when the glicko was relaxed. Made for some interesting NA matches, though! Of course, I think glicko still needs to be reset and we place everyone according to their current populations. Might be different, might be the same, but maybe the scores would be a bit closer.
TC wasn’t pushed hard enough to break the wall this week. Likewise, FA didn’t push SOS/YB hard enough to gain rating. It’s boring, but not much that can be done.
BG BL continues to be a problem. Past few nights this has been the only map with no queue, as nobody wants to play there at all. While that might not seem like a huge deal, it’s a pain when you actually want to play and your options are 10 second lag and discos or queue.
You don’t pay every month for this game. If you decided not to…. what would happen? Nothing. You’d still be able to log-in, you’d still be able to play. That’s not how a sub works. Your gem purchase doesn’t actually entitle you to anything other than the use of your gems. That’s the reality.
JQ is winning this week because BG isn’t really pushing. If BG were out pushing, you’d see a vastly different result. Would you then be witch-hunting BG for acting unfairly, or would that be OK?
We had a ‘full queue’ of people on EB, which was roughly 30 people on pin when both TC and BG were 2v1-ing us. Where the others were, I can’t tell you. It seemed (I say SEEMED) like BG had around 50, and TC as well. It’s all about perspective. Having anet leave the cap off ONE server, makes absolutely zero sense.
Stephen as a result of the server issues pertaining to WvW this evening and in completing a WvW Report for my server on our private forums, we found that the queuing system for the T1 servers are problematic.
More specifically, Jade Quarry appeared to be able to have more players on a map than either Tarnished Coast or Blackgate.
Typically, Tarnished Coast only experiences 1-2 maps being queued on any given Saturday night at 9PM EST. This evening, we experienced ALL maps being queued with out the on-map numbers to support why we were queued, when JQ had twice as many numbers.
I am not going to argue the point that this proliferated an unbalanced competition, but please provide information to discredit what my server and I were experiencing. We do use superior map coordination and do member/head counts to confirm these numbers daily and nightly.
We only had 2 map queues tonight as well. Those were EB and JQBL. Besides, stop talking matchup craziness when this thread is about lag.
Come to BG BL right now. It’s bad n_n Lagging out/teleporting and a few people just poofed totally. We don’t have a queue of people here, but I’d bet TC and BG do.
T1 NA right now I’d check TC BL (the blue one), as that’s where the most action is currently as I type this.
I have no problem with the implementation of the stability changes. Those are cool. What’s not cool is the crippling and unplayable lag that has been present ever since those changes were made. We have entire guilds not out playing because it’s so bad. We leave the maps/game to do other things. The lag was so bad that it was causing people to straight out DC instead of being able to use a waypoint when defending a structure.
This is not a crybaby t1 problem. The lag may be a little crazier up here, but it has NEVER EVER been this bad, not even when dealing with the Hordes of Denravi at launch.
Please understand that for some of us… WvW is why we play this game. We cannot currently do so.
To sum up:
-Rubber banding/skipping.
-Skill lag. Skills will not activate. Pressing 1 will not even work.
-Often you will lag —>straight to DC as the server can’t catch up.
-‘ghost’ players appearing, since the server can’t catch up to where they really are.
-Present on all maps, but especially bad on Red Borderlands.
Don’t stack the top tiers and then complain about lag because there are too many people on a borderland.
Yeah, no. This was crippling lag in SPAWN. Nowhere near a fight. During a quiet time of day with no fights on the map. Lag to where we couldn’t even take a camp with 3 people because who can use a skill? Dismissing this as a purely zerg problem is amazing incorrect; lag of this magnitude would be the rule instead of the exception it is right now.
Perhaps gameplay feedback is not what you’re looking for here, but just in case:
Gliding, right now, feels very clunky and odd. It takes way too long to activate. You can’t control it at all. It seems almost too gimmicky to require that the user delve deep into mastery to be able to do anything with it. At least give some basic controls, and fine tune them with mastery points. I guess the best word I could use is non-intuitive.
Some sort of “Hey, here’s how you equip the glider!” pop up, like the “hey, dummy, WASD to move!” popup when you make a new character would be great.
Masteries feel weirdly assigned. If it more closely matched the WvW masteries, that would at least be a bit easier to understand. It’s a pretty menu, it is, but the placement and way you assign things is strange.
Overall, I suffered no lag spikes/no fps drops/no glitches/no bugs. It was an ideal, and smooth experience.
