As you may have noticed, we added a message to the in-game mails a while back that lets you know that a particular mail is coming from another player and not from ArenaNet.

Please heed that message.

Don’t be taken in by:

• Warnings about your account being restricted, suspended, or closed. These phony messages ask you to click a link to “remove restrictions” or “validate your account” or some other nonsense that are simply sent to get access to your account by your providing the credentials.
  • We very seldom send in-game messages warning of account suspensions or closures, and you should never click a link in such a message.
• Fake “award notifications” that claim that ArenaNet is giving away gems or other goods and that, again, ask you to click a link to claim yours.
  • If we’re going to give you something, we don’t need your password.
• Other messages the lead to a third-party site that asks for your game credentials.

If we’re going to give you something, we don’t need your password. If your account is in jeopardy, you won’t be able to “validate” it through a link to some shady third-party site.

If in doubt about any in-game mail, report it using the in-game system or contact Support by clicking “Support” at the top of this page and submitting a request to check on what you were sent.

Best: delete such mails immediately and put the would-be account thieves out of business.

Suggestion:

• Three PvE dailies, but make events at most racial-theme-specific. Keep most, if not all old dailies on the random roster to generate 3 required PvE dailies per day.

Benefit:

• Players can exercise their game geography muscle and participate in a game of match designed by themselves. They will not feel being told to perform a menial task, but the task becomes a challenge that they can elect to solve on their own knowledge.

• When zone restriction is racial-zone based, it focus player population, but not to an extreme.

Here is some straight up feedback, no bs.

The Good:
1. The new dailies are great, rewards for each one completed, don’t have to do 10 different ones to get 10 AP.
2. Login rewards are great. You get 35 laurels (55 if you pick it in last chest). You get 10 free levels for any character per month (6 more in the last chest, so you can get 16 total).

The Bad: (While the login rewards are decent, they lack 2 things)
1. Luck. You only get 2000 in a month. That is absolute crap, I get almost 10 times that amount salvaging stuff throughout the day. Please increase it to a more reasonable amount.
2. Mystic coins, you only get 20 in a month, and since monthlies are getting pulled. You will be losing out on 30 mystic coins (1 for each day, and 20 for completing the monthly, so you would have gotten 50, now its only 20). The amount of these need to be increased as well. Maybe try this instead. Day 1 – 2 Mystic Coins, Day 8 – 4 Mystic Coins, Day 15 – 8 Mystic Coins, Day 22 – 16 Mystic Coins. Then add on 20 Mystic coins for the 28th day as an automatic reward just like the 2% increase to gold find. This way we will still get our 50 mystic coins we used to.

No one is asking you to be neutral. We’re asking everyone to contribute feedback in this thread, be it positive, negative, or neutral. As long as it’s offered in a constructive tone, it’s welcome — as proved by the light moderator involvement and the length of this thread. Any new threads would be unnecessary and redundant when this thread houses such a wide variety of feedback.

There was a connectivity issue on Christmas Eve evening (PST) that was resolved within a couple of hours.

Also, how are you determining you’re not being throttled by your ISP?

Lord Xaldin, I think I found your ticket with the attachment. Based on the pathping Comcast has a hop at 68.86.90.113 that looks busted, it’s at least not passing ICMP.

If the patcher is having troubles getting past that hop to our CDN you’ll be unable to successfully patch. You should escalate this to Comcast and give them the screenshot you gave us.

A pathping isn’t the whole story but it’s usually very telling. In this case it’s possible the routers dropping pings are just de-prioritizing ICMP (ping) packets but usually it’s indicative of a problem, especially when seen on the link between hops.

Also, some packet loss is tolerated but it can cause lag and disconnects if it gets too high.

XeRauS, packet loss is amplified the further down the path you go so that could explain the loss between your ISP and Telia, but it could also be a real issue. I’d encourage you to contact you ISP about it and give them the pathping you provided here. I’ll see if we can do anything from our side.

I think I should say something there: There have been several issues relating to latency and connectivity, not a single issue that, once fixed, resolves the problem for everyone. Please know that the team is looking into the short-term issues (like yesterday’s issue, which was resolved in a matter of a couple of hours) as well as those longer-term issues that they’re still working to resolve.

Thank you for your continued patience, and remember — I posted just a day or two ago with advice on how to get your logs into the hands of team members working on this issue. Please follow those steps, if you wish, so the team can help you.

If you can kindly send reports as instructed earlier in this thread, our devs are working on this (even on the holidays) and I know they’d like to help as many people as possible. Alternately, if you wish to submit a CS Ticket, you’re welcome to do that instead.

We’ve had a few threads pop up about issues in viewing or using the Currency Exchange. The team is on the case and we will post when there’s some additional info to share.

I verified I could not zone into DR in the EU. I modified the server routing to avoid this hardware server and now I can zone in.

If you have UAC on you’ll need to run cmd.exe as Administrator. You can do that by typing cmd.exe but don’t hit enter. Instead right click on it and select “Run as Administrator”.

Malavian, what you describe happened to me several years ago, and as abomally suggests, it really was the pending death of my power supply that caused the oddness.

bird — are you in the EU? (Seeing “qwest” makes me think not.) Anyway, just got an e-mail that there’s a new connectivity issues involving our Frankfurst (Germany) data center and the team is working on it. If you’re not in the EU, then something else is the cause. In either case (EU or not EU) the team is collecting information to try to resolve issues.

Here’s a way to help the team:

• If playing in EU:
  pathping -w 500 -q 100 -4 206.127.158.1
• If playing in NA:
  pathping -w 500 -q 100 -4 64.25.39.1

Getting the output of those commands via email will really help.

Here are instructions for Windows.

1. Click Start.
2. Type cmd and press Enter.
3. If playing in EU:
   • Type “pathping -w 500 -q 100 -4 206.127.158.1 > C:\pathping.txt” without the quotes and press Enter.
4. If playing in NA:
   • Type “pathping -w 500 -q 100 -4 64.25.39.1 > C:\pathping.txt” without the quotes and press Enter.
5. Allow several minutes for the pathping to complete.
6. A file will be created on your C:\ drive called pathping.txt.
7. Type exit and press Enter to close the command window.
8. Open your preferred e-mail program and start an e-mail to Support@GuildWars2.com with the subject line “EU Latency Issue”
9. Now, in your prepared e-mail, click “Attach file” and type “C:\pathping.txt" and your e-mail program should find the file and attach it to your mail.
10. Send us the email.

Just got an e-mail from that said there’s a new connection issue with our Frankfurt Data Center. The team is working on this and hope to get this one settled soon.

XeRauS, I see a couple of issues with the pathping you posted above.

This part shows you have 4% packet loss (4 out of 100 packets) between what looks like your router and your modem. I’d start by rebooting both of those as this will affect your day to day internet traffic not just Gw2.

The problem that is most likely giving you issues with the game is at the hand off between TPGI and Telia. There is 37% packet loss there which is pretty bad and the latency skyrockets from 31ms to 244ms.

You should contact your ISP with the pathping above and report the problem.
Also, you may want to try running the pathping to the EU server and see if packet loss and latency is better there. Being in Australia you may have a better experience playing there.

I believe that content was designed by Kevin Millard and written by Elan Stimmel. The orphans would have wanted you to keep those ornaments. Their orphanage will probably burn down soon anyway.

BTW, even the amazing, amazing writers on the Breaking Bad series staff didn’t know the resolution to every plot thread they introduced on the show. 6 seems like a small number to monitor all of WvW. Is this a test before expanding the team or is your data indicating you can monitor everything with just 6?

Great question. The total number is much larger, only those 6 and myself will ever be visible.

My first character and main until a couple of weeks ago was a MM Necro, so that would definitely be my vote. :P These other guys are a little bit right though, I do get dissed from time to time, but I think that happens with most classes.

I had the most trouble of those 3 with my thief. Probably my build wasn’t so good (I went Pistol/Pistol for a Bond theme). In the end they all work though, so it really comes down to your preference. I’d say don’t worry about it too much, if you change your mind later it shouldn’t be too difficult to switch back.
