Hi YodaYogurt,

I would like for you to delete the Guild Wars 2 folder located within your users Library folder. You can do this by following the instructions below:

1. Click on the “Finder” icon located in your dock or the desktop of your computer.
2. Hold down the “Option” key on your keyboard while clicking “Go” in the Finder menu bar. A dropdown will appear.
3. While still holding down the “Option” key, click on “Library” in the “Go” dropdown.
4. Once in the Library folder, open “Application Support” and locate the Guild Wars 2 folder.
5. Move the entire Guild Wars 2 folder to the trash and then empty the trash.

NOTE – If you are unable to locate this folder, it is possible you are looking in the incorrect “Library” folder. As your system has multiple “Library” folders, please try the steps again to locate the proper folder.

The next time you launch Guild Wars 2 it will create a new version of the folder that you deleted. Please try this and see if it resolves your issue.

Hi Obtech,

Going over your crash logs this line stood out to me in particular:
“Coherent Log: Severity=Warning, Message=PID: 4628 | 4088 02:48:41.760224 Shared textures are not properly supported on Windows 7 without Service Pack 1. Please install the latest service pack.”

That being said, if you are missing the latest service pack for Windows, please try the steps below:

1. Click the “Start” button.
2. Click “All Programs” and then click “Windows Update.”
3. Follow all steps provided, choose all of the critical updates available, and install them.

Hey everyone,

There could be any number of reasons why you could be experiencing this error which makes it difficult to lump everyone’s report here as being the same issue. True, you are getting the same error, but these are the most common causes:

- Blocked ports
- Firewalls enabled by your campus IT admins
- Client being blocked by firewalls or security software applications
- Conflicting background applications
- Malware or spyware preventing you from logging in
- An unsupported or unstable connection such as mobile connections or satellite
- DNS issues (may want to clear your DNS cache via a normal DNS flush or using Google’s Public DNS)
- Invalid winsock entries
- Lack of admin privileges

When faced with this particular error it’s usually best to narrow down all potential culprits in order to get to the bottom of the actual cause. If you’ve already eliminated the above as being possibilities then by all means please do submit a support ticket so that we can further investigate this issue!

We pushed a change a few hours ago in hopes that it would relieve some of this issues. If you are still experiencing issues, we’d love to know more to help our investigation. It would be great if you could reply and provide the following information:

1. Which part of the BLTC you were trying to load?

Examples:

  • Gem Store (buying items from the store)
  • Currency Exchange (gold-> gems -or- gems -> gold)
  • Trading Post (buying/selling in-game items to other players).

2. What happened instead?

  • Blank brown screen?
  • Blank black screen?
  • Do you have a screenshot?

I respect that you are not stating an opinion about the outcome or the rewards, but solely about your ability to do the dailies on a regular basis in any form. Hey all,

Cody Crichton, whom you’ve seen post in our forums, pointed out that we need to be sure to preserve each of these pieces of sheet music. I agree so much!

What I want to ask is that you please make sure that you retain a copy of your own work on your own computer. Then, when the archives are reduced we’ll be able to reconstruct this thread with a new thread that contains links to the contributions of each of our creative musicians.

Links to the existing threads are great for now, but they’ll become “dead links” when we remove the archives.

So make sure you have your music saved, and when the archive reduction takes place, we can rebuild this thread to its current and even growing glory!

What sort of hardware are you working with? Often this sort of issue isn’t connection based at all and can actually occur if your system does not meet all minimum hardware requirements or if you are missing drivers on your system for your GPU.

Hey there,

What sort of error messages are you getting (the error code number would be most helpful)? Also, you can check with your campus IT to see if all TCP ports necessary to play Guild Wars 2 are completely open (ports 80, 443, 6112 and port 6600) and unrestricted and accessible both inbound and outbound.

Here’s a suggestion — which I initially gave info on clearing one’s browser cache, and we’d like to suggest clearing your Guild Wars 2 cache.

The quickest way to clear the GW2 Cache is to:

  1. Ensure your game is completely closed.
  2. Hold your “Windows Key” and press “F” to open Windows Search on your computer.
  3. Search for “gw2cache”
  4. It will find a folder called “gw2cache-{bunch-of-letters-and-numbers}” at:
    “C:\Users\YourComputerUserName\AppData\Local\Temp”
  5. Delete this “gw2cache-{bunch-of-letters-and-numbers}” folder that is shown in the results.
  6. Load up your game normally and your TP should now function properly.

First game of the day, full pugs vs a 3+2 team (I lost)

I hate to admit it, but it was actually 5 vs 1+1+1+1+1 and 4+1 vs 1+1+1+1+1.

Lets just pretend they were waiting super long queue times = poor match making…

This was likely caused by low availability during off-peak hours. Longer queue times would probably have helped, not so much for the solos but for the pre-mades. I wonder if slowing down the fail-safes for larger parties would help.

You Can report them….Report for Verbal abuse…and be done with it.They will read the chatlogs and he will get a bann for being this stupid.

Exactly. We received a complaint about closing this thread, but doesn’t any experienced player know how this works? And doesn’t this post sum it up? You report in the game and the chat logs automatically are sent with your report to an agent who will take action if the infraction is proved.

In cases where you are reporting and you feel that nothing is happening — and remember that your assessment may be inaccurate — you’re welcome to submit a report by clicking “Support” at the top of this page and then clicking the “Submit a request” option. Provide as much information as possible in the web form, which will create a ticket within the support system. If you do not know some of the information requested, leave the field blank. However, there are two drop-down areas that require an answer so be sure to choose from those fields so the ticket is properly submitted. Once you’ve done that, the CS Team should be able to review your concerns.

What you should include:

  • Time
  • Time zone
  • Date
  • Name of offending player(s)
  • Name of your characters (so we can confirm we’re reviewing the proper map and time)
  • Example of offensive chat

To restore faith: answer in the thread that the person has been banned. Simple.

No. We will not encourage public “naming and shaming” through our forums. And we do not want screenshots of the sort of chat that was removed from this post! Nor would it be realistic or appropriate to use the forums to dutifully report back with a full outline of CS actions.

The reason for these decisions: Reports of chat violations, “trolling,” and other verbal abuse can instantly turn into a “he said/she said” situation, and will support any level of player-to-player griefing that you can imagine. Fake screenshots, false accusations, all-guild reports for nothing — all of this can be avoided with an in-game report that will be reviewed for chat violations.

The accusation is trolling, right? And trolling is a chat violation. So use the system to report.

I’m looking into this. By chance, have you reported in the game? If you click the upper left “gear” icon, and then Support, then “Report a Bug” the team will receive a report that gives details that help them nail down what’s going on. In-game reports are really helpful, so if you have a chance, please make one on this issue so the team has the greater details they can use to investigate.

With all due respect, the document is not subject to input or revision. What we do with the program is something we can discuss, but the document as present in News and Announcements stands, as it has been reviewed by Legal and accepted by the company directors.

munkiman — the forums need work, no doubt about it. We’re actively reviewing our options in relation to software. That does not eliminate the option of offering this program, however, as functionality is a different topic than a volunteer program.

To the point of “weighting” reports, I’m not saying that they will not be viewed with greater attention. I am saying they will not be acted upon solely because a volunteer specialist submitted a report. Each and every report must be reviewed impartially and not be acted upon simply because a forum member — not matter his/her great value to the community — told us to take action.

I see the reports. I do not always look at the name of the person reporting, but there are times when I do and I go into the report with some sort of notion in my mind. It might be “This person has reported forum members for two months and we’ve never upheld the reports.” It could be, “This is a respected forum member and I imagine the report is solid.” I agree with you — it would probably be impossible to not have some idea in mind. What I am saying is that preconceived notions of value (or lack of value) cannot drive the decision.

There are times with a sterling forum member gets a bee in his/her bonnet and reports without reason. There are times when a forum member is reported for something that is completely fine.

  • A good moderation team will analyze the report, and not the reporter.
  • A good moderation team will analyze the reported member without prejudice against him/her or towards the person who made the report.
  • A good moderation team will act fairly in reviewing a possible infraction, and try very hard to avoid being influenced by history. Someone who has been infracted multiple times may be likely to be infracted again, but their receiving an infraction should not be a foregone conclusion — the infraction should be justly given.

Pinkamena Diane Pie — The announcement was posted primarily in News and Announcements. Sorry if you missed the post. Discussion of the topic is welcome in any sub-forum.

Basaltface — I have no idea what you mean by a specialist “breathing down your neck” or what power you feel they would be given that would impact you and your forum account or participation in any sense.

KarlaGray — The comments about forum participation percentages do not represent Guild Wars 2 forum statistics but are industry numbers. Our forums are more active and include a larger percentage of accounts holders than the average game. We apologize for any misimpressions that that comment may have created.

Ravion Hawk – Rest assured, we do play our game, out in the wild amongst real players. We can’t play in “God Mode” on the live servers and many of us play anonymously in addition to playing while representing the Anet Guild. Sure, there is internal testing and content play sessions, but I play daily on Live and I see many of my co-workers online playing as well.

Neural — Any report from a specialist will be reviewed like a report from any forum member. It will not be weighted “because s/he said so.”

AP — I think the addendum I just made to the post answers the moderation question. Basically, no, they’re not. And yes, your comments about how we’d monitor reports to ensure they’re fair and impartial are accurate. We’d welcome insights and opinions from specialists when flagged as such but would not consider them as representative of an entire community.

Charrbeque, you’re right. There are a few irritating glitches in the Word and Name Filter. I use a certain word all the time, but I’ve had to mentally remind myself to use “analyze” instead of a s ess (intentionally misspelled and spaced) because the latter is kittenized.

I’ll see what we can do about this, and I heard there was some progress made on updating the filter.

At the end of the day, the problem is the same as some other issues here and an issue that you have stated bugs you personally, the forums really need a change/upgrade.

[FORUM]Filter blocks unoffensive word

Charrbeque, you’re right. There are a few irritating glitches in the Word and Name Filter. I use a certain word all the time, but I’ve had to mentally remind myself to use “analyze” instead of a s ess (intentionally misspelled and spaced) because the latter is kittenized.

I’ll see what we can do about this, and I heard there was some progress made on updating the filter.

If anyone else wants to share harmless words that are unnecessarily censored, please add ’em here (but remember they may be filtered so… get creative!)

Djinn — do you sense Guhracie is “labeling?” He mentions his position was to not participate when certain words are used as a slur. If you feel he’s making his personal choice too hurriedly, it’s a harmless choice, as he is choosing not to participate. He’s not saying he’ll get into the thread and flame the forum member, or that he’ll report and hope they get smited by all the powers of The Six Gods. He’s just saying “If someone uses slurs, I’m out.”

Or do you see it differently?

As I see it, and I have been actively reading the post, Guhracie had noble intentions in posting this and he offered a personal position on the use of inflammatory words when they are (mis)used in specific ways.

This shouldn’t have devolved into the snarkfest it has become. This isn’t a semantics debate. It’s not the platform for someone to mock, insult, and abuse other forum members because he/she disagrees with the position stated. It’s a personal position and you’re welcome to join in, or not. But arguing with the stated position it is like arguing with someone because you like salmon and they do not. There’s not “right” or “wrong” for it’s a personal opinion. Just as “I don’t intend to participate in certain threads” is a personal choice.

When one thread had more than half a dozen warranted reports and more that could have been made, well, obviously there’s a problem. In this case, the problem seems to be not with the original post but with forum members who are unwilling or unable to remain quiet on a subject that does not require or benefit from their input.

Please don’t post if you’re being argumentative, insulting, or pedantic. Please feel free to move to the next thread and contribute where you have a contribution to make and leave this thread for those who wish to join in the pledge or discuss the parameters of the pledge in a respectful and contributing manner.
