I assume MMRs will reset at start of a season if W/L does as well.
No, MMR is tied to the arena not the ladder season. We know about the potential for tanking before the beginning of the season, but I don’t believe we’ve settled on a solution yet.
Isle of Janthir: Flux, Latch, Aegir
I disagree and yes todays update . match where you win by 200 points or more is a blowout in my mind each game so far win or lose have been blowouts and yes i solo que .
it seems if i go by the finishers that the matches are not by rank .it would oh so seem that the system is matching classes .
I am not trying to be mean .
If we go by your metric, you had 3.
The first was all solos but counted as buy because the enemy team had a deserter. The ratings were very slightly in in your favor, but rank was in their favor.
The second was the one I mentioned.
The last was all solos and you lost, but you had both the rating and rank advantage.

I must have glitched as I was inside the wall and all the NPCs were outside and there was no way for me to get the flame.
Same here problem here. Couldn’t get the flame, NPCs were behind the wall and I was inside running for my life….
Rox throws the Divine Fire into the battlefield from outside. Look for the glowing whitish circles.
In all, a dang good job. Have one on me.
Hey, thanks!

Can you give me a little more detail that that?
So far today (and I assume you’re taking about today’s update) you’ve had 1 blowout. It was all solos, and had even ratings and ranks.

We cannot make changes to the order that you have selected. I agree with Pecar — character recreation is the way to go.

Sorry guys, we’re investigating currently exactly what happened with this issue. I promise we will have a fix for this bug, but unfortunately it isn’t working right now.
Again, we’re really sorry about this mix up and confusion.
If you’d like to see the in-game video again, visit the NPC near the entrance to Camp Resolve. He will let you rewatch the final cinematics if you’ve completed the episode.

And what about the wins/loses acccumulated before the big PvP patch? Will you merge them with the current games next season?
Do you mean your account aggregates? We are currently planning (afaik) to show only ladder season specific data. So everyone starts at 0/0 at the beginning of a season.

There’s an NPC in Camp Resolve that lets you rewatch the final cinematics if you’ve completed the episode. He’s standing near the entrance.
Oh thats cool. is that for all episodes?
The replay NPC is just for this episode, but if you (and others) have feedback on replaying other cinematics we’d like to hear it (in a separate thread).
Gaile (or anyone reading the forums, really), please, give my most honest praise to whoever is responsible for the final animatic of this update (the thing with January 24 at the end, no further details for spoilers, as this is an unmarked thread). I’ve had a sort of a gripe with the new animation style (as I enjoeyed the “cardboard cutout theatre” you’ve decided to abandon quite some time ago), but this (and the similarily impressive and stylized Fractal trailer about a year ago) goes right into my library favorites. Thank you for that and I hope we see more of this style in the future.
So glad you liked it, Changer! I agree — it’s powerful, wonderful stuff.
I am sooooooooooooooo amazed of this episode! This is the GW2 I enjoy playing! It was sooo fun to play through the episodes! Those cutscenes, story, lore was sooo amazing! I am sooo thankful for all the great work this game has done and I am really looking forward to the future of this amazing MMORPG GW!
Thanks!
That’s a lotta “o’s” there, but I hear you loud and clear.
(And as Bobby said, we’ll be passing along the feedback to the whole team!

I’m sorry but I still feel like it didn’t answer my question. Are you referring to when the PvP map starts loading that the system acknowledges you as back or when it starts loading the Heart of the Mists map? Cause when you dc and get back in, it usually loads Heart of the Mists first and when that is fully loaded, it starts loading the PvP map.
So the system acknowledges you as reconnected when it starts loading the Heart of the Mists map or when it starts loading the PvP map match that was chosen for the match?
Oh, sorry. It registers when you connect to the PvP map.
If this takes longer than we allow, please remember we have to balance this number against the players still in the game that are now at a disadvantage.

We had a few issues a couple of hours ago, but those were resolved. At this point, you may want to post in the Technical Support subforum to see if there are tips about how to resolve this.

Praise relayed.
Could I get a bit more clarification on this please. Loading into the Heart of the Mists map takes about 1min – 1min and 30 seconds for me and then it starts loading the PvP map which usually averages at around 25-30 seconds.
So I get dced, go to char screen and get back in and it starts loading the Heart of the Mists map for me. Is this when the system acknowledges your ‘return’ to the match or when the PvP map that you got starts loading?
You register as connected before you finish loaded, but we can review changing that number if it is too low for a significant number of people.

Second isn’t all that controversial in the PvP forum.

I haven’t PvE’d in quite a while, usually just to open containers that were incorrectly set not to open in the lobby. I’m usually doing solo ranked, unless someone asks me to party.

No, it will stay at it’s current position until another season begins.

Correct.

Also, anyone know when I will get my mini Llama!!!!
No, they will not reset. We do not currently have another test season scheduled.

Thanks a lot for all your positive comments. It’s true the CS Team is very busy right now, and there can be a wait for help with some situations, especially the most delicate (such as account retrievals and restorations).

When will they stop being about farming ranked and actually about skill/wins? I thought it was supposed to change this patch. Why even bother doing ranked atm unless you have no job/school/life and can commit whole day to do ranked?
The test season is over, as we said it would be. If any changes come, we will announce them before the start of another test season (if we have one).
I’m not sure why you expected anything different.

We don’t announce release times in advance, but historically it’s true that most have happened in the morning (Pacific time). The reasoning behind that is to allow the maximum number of developers (programmers, server team, network team, designers, etc.) to be available to monitor any situations that may arise. As you noted, a short-term issue did arise today, and because of the timeframe of the release, we had all hands on deck to correct the problem quite quickly.
And, as others pointed out, releasing on “off hours” in North America makes it “primetime” somewhere else.

So, will we see solo players advertise “Will desert for 1g” when match goes badly?
Because “- Matchmaking ratings will not be updated if a game has player desertions.” and “Losses will not count toward the leaderboard standings if a teammate outside your party has deserted” — basically to offer losing team to erase the loss for low-low-price of 1g
Potentially, but it should be limited by dishonor.
Dishonor grows exponentially the more you gather. 16 minutes the first time, then +47m, and then +1h 24m the next time. That’s not exact because there is a time decay component but I think you get the idea.
Isle of Janthir: Flux, Latch, Aegir
What is the grace period? 30s? (Fair number)
Yes, it is 30 seconds.
Don’t you think that’s a bit too low? Keep in mind that when someone dcs during a game they have to load two maps (hotm and the PvP map)
I’m playing on a semitoaster and I’m fairly sure I can usually manage to get back into the game within ~20 seconds, but I know there are people with far worse machines than me. I’d recommend that you increase the period to a minute rather than 30 seconds.Technically you are loaded into the map after about 1-2 seconds. Just because it doesn’t look like you are there yet, you still are. You machine is loading the graphics still but your character is back in the match faster than it looks like. Only takes maybe 10-15 seconds to get back in. The ~20 seconds is just a visual thing for you.
This is correct, and was part of the reasoning behind the 30s grace period.
Isle of Janthir: Flux, Latch, Aegir
Those complications don’t happen to involve any of the issues talked about in this blog post, do they?
I understand that Steam is decommissioning its OAuth2 implementation, but then who know why Valve does anything.
No, we don’t use any of the more wild things lurking at the edges of OAuth2, fortunately.
We’re going to do some experiments around searching to see if we can’t start offering richer search APIs in the future. Can’t promise anything though.
What is the grace period? 30s? (Fair number)
Yes, it is 30 seconds.
Isle of Janthir: Flux, Latch, Aegir
what happens if someone gets a DC and is not comming back, but my team still wins the game?
If you still win, and the losing team doesn’t have deserters, you will receive credit for the win.
Isle of Janthir: Flux, Latch, Aegir
If you DC and do not reconnect within the grace period, yes.
This is to discourage groups from leaving the match early to invalidate a win for the other team.

Do we need to actually play a game to let the desertion losses take effect before the ladder season ends to receive credit/be eligible for the test-season rewards?
I planned on not playing this week but I’ll go home and hop on if I need to.
No, you can risk your position and not play to preserve your w/l ratio.
These desertions, while not shown, were already included in your ladder points.
Isle of Janthir: Flux, Latch, Aegir
This is erroneous because I did not disconnect at all in the last hour and yet the system posted that I had 12 losses. The reality is I had 3 wins and 1 loss. How did it come to 12 losses? Prior to this, my win/loss ratio was closer to 60%.
I don’t understand why the system is so punitive, even to those who play fair and honest.
The 11 losses unexplained losses are from the 11 desertions you had over the course of the ladder. They are not desertions from the last hour.
Isle of Janthir: Flux, Latch, Aegir
Have any considerations been given in lieu of clicking feedback to future reward structure that might be implemented down the road?
I can’t say about future changes, but I will say that my colleagues and I have all read and internalized that feedback.
Well I had +3win-21lose in https://leaderboards.guildwars2.com/ too, but didn’t made screenshot. That makes 25games per hour. So my games last 2minutes, lessmore than que window pops.
It rolled your previous 31 desertions into it, but this is a recent change in what we display, so that’s why it had the sudden jump.
Correction: 21 desertions, 10 of those were before the test ladder season started.

Whenever you get DC you get -3 points.
Up to -3 points and as little as -1 points. It depends on your odds of victory.
Since you don’t know your odds (yet) you might as well act as if it’s -3.
Isle of Janthir: Flux, Latch, Aegir
The leaderboard now rolls desertions into the losses column.

Or, in other words, had I not just skimmed over the bottom, more recent comments, I should just say weolgwang and timmyf have already troubleshot the issue just fine. Good job spreading the word about these technical problems!
It’s ridiculous. I literally can’t hear the person if they’re standing right in front of me. I have to turn the camera to be able to hear them.
This is a classic symptom of having your audio device set to surround sound at the operating system level when you either don’t have surround sound speakers or the center speaker of your surround system is malfunctioning. Check your hardware and/or OS audio settings and see if that doesn’t straighten things out for ya?
If you haven’t played since September, the damage log now has much more robust information. When you open the chat tab filter menu there is an arrow next to the combat channel with more options.

Hmm, I love getting them. Once I finish my 8th alt so I have all the classes I’ll use them on new characters to 1)Run through the personal story, 2)Map complete, and finally 3) Cash out the skill points for w/e.
At minimum you get skill points out of them, with a little more effort you get all the level up rewards.
“Once I finish my 8th alt so I have all the classes”
8 alts + 1 main = 9 classes! New class confirmed
:P Nice try, they’re all alts to me.
Having a personal score system is a good way to indicate whether a player is playing the game mode well. Right now kills give the most points, but arguably that encourages sub-optimal play in conquest.
I really like the idea of having personal score tick when fighting on a capture point. This concept could be extended to behave like the current assaulter, defender, and skirmisher scores where you can still get personal score while fighting close to a capture point.
What other scores could be added, or what existing scores could be rebalanced?
