We are very sorry for the issue. While team members were able to get the forums to function (which I really appreciate during the Seahawks game!) they are going to take a look at how to correct the continued problem with very slow load times.
I’ve posted an announcement so forum members know we’re aware, and of course to apologize for the inconvenience.
Edit: Testing editing.

If none of those work, then we are probably looking at a problem on your end if you are getting “Connection error(s) detected. Retrying…”

If you are getting connection error either:
You didn’t modify the target correctly and left out the port or didnt have proper spacing
or
You can’t actually connect to the asset servers – Which could be any number of problems. Try pinging them and let me know what happens (command ling ping 62.154.232.187)
I can now confirm that this mini is still within the drop table from the Halloween ToT bags. Opened 2-5K per day since the Halloween event and got my ghost hound drop at around 105K bags (also got a necklace drop along the way – also after the 100K mark). So – the drop remains available – just going to have to continue to be persistent with opening these bags . Good luck!
Well, after opening roughly 200K bags I finally got the mini today. Every day since Halloween patch was gone I’ve been opening 1K bags, sometimes more and sometimes less. I also got the black necklace maybe around 150K bags but not much more. So yes, it’s definitely in the drop tables, it’s just kitten rng.
Don’t give up, it’ll drop eventually!
Congratulations to you both! So glad you’ve gotten that adorable mini! Thanks for posting as it gives the rest of us hope.
Oh, and AP — that makes no sense, I agree. I’ll ask about that, it just seems so very odd! Unless that’s the Super Rare Extra Sparkly Legendary Unique Candy Corn Cob of Death to All Monsters™, it just seems strange.

Couple of things:
Tickets: A kind forum member pointed out that I might want to express that we’re not able to provide transportation, lodging, or meals. When I say there is no cost, I mean there is no cost associated with a ticket that we’re giving for someone to attend as our guest. Other costs are on the guest.
Other Events: I agree it would be great to extend this to other events, and I’m actually working on something in that regard, as are other team members. Hope to have more info on that in the future. (I am a huge, huge fan of gamecom and of any event that lets us interact with Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 players. Granted, I’m not nearly as interesting as Ree or Colin or Mike or the devs, but hey, what I lack in that quality I can make up for in enthusiasm, right? Basically, I’d show up at the local Starbucks if it involved fans.
)
If you’re making a request for a ticket please read this:
Thanks!

Sorry for the delayed start. I had technical problems last night and couldn’t do the work as scheduled.
Both leaderboards have been cleared and new data should begin being submitted in less than 4 minutes at 2:30 PM PST.

Each of these asset servers (above) are hosted by a different CDN, so swapping might help ^like it did above. Keep letting me know if this solved your problem or not.
That being said, after you patch, you are probably going to want to remove that from your target line. Our assets are normally dynamically served across multiple CDNs, and keeping it stuck at one might impact future updating.
If this fixes the problem for multiple people, then please let me know which CDN worked for you and what your current ISP (not IP) and Location (just city/country) is. Thanks!

If you are still having problems, try adding this to your GW2 Shortcut Target:
-assetsrv 62.154.232.187:80
If that doesn’t work, try
-assetsrv 151.249.90.138:80
You can do this by right clicking on your GW2 Shortcut and adding the above text to your Target field. For example your target should look like this:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -assetsrv 62.154.232.187:80
Let me know if that works
No. I’ll be sure a notice is posted when we enable thing.
I don’t know if and when that will happen though now that we allow profession swapping.
I’m really sad that i can’t go to Pax south. (living in Europe ect.)
However, i WAS one of the first to play the demo of gw2 back 3 years a go at gamescom, so its fair that now America gets a chance to be first for something.
I’ll just be here in my room watching the live stream.
Sounds great, and thanks for your support.
Oh, btw, I love the gamecom show. It’s always fantastic!
Sweet thanks! If I’m randomly selected…
Who said it was random?
Gaile did. "We’ll be randomly choosing from who who PM me. "
Gad, don’t you hate it when you only see your typo when someone quotes it?
Rose, sorry you can’t attend, but thanks for your interest and good luck with your move.
Out of interest, what does “did not have the UI resources” mean? Did you run out of pixies making pixels?
The developers needed were busy working on things that had higher priorities, and with what time they could spare they would not have finished in time.
I want a pass please! I only live 2 hours from San Antonio and I’m off work on Saturday and would totally make the drive to be there. Never been to anything like that before, comic con or any gaming convention and I think it’d be killer to attend. How do I PM Gale to have a chance to go?
Sounds great, and I’d love you to be able to come! We’ll be randomly choosing from who who PM me. To do that: Click my name, then choose “Send a private message” on the left (sort of middle of the screen) and tell me you’d like to attend. I’ll be collecting a name and address because we need to put in official info for the guest list (and then when the guests sign in at the will-call table the PAX folks will check ID to make sure the ticket’s going to the proper person).
Hope you can go!
Sweet thanks! If I’m randomly selected will I need to purchase any type of ticket to get into PAX to attend the guild wars presentation or would the guest pass get me into the event itself?
You will pay nothing except whatever it takes to get there. The full-day show pass — which includes the presentation by the Guild Wars 2 Team — has been purchased by ArenaNet. You will be fully our guest as far as the ticket to the show!

If it would apply, you might report them for offensive chat using the in-game report system. The team will look into what they’re doing and may be able to verify enough to take action. (It’s admittedly not always possible to do that, but they will try.)
Hello, Forum Members!
I’ve just been given some… dare I say “exciting” news?
We have a handful — just a few — Saturday passes for PAX South in San Antonio, Texas, on January 24th. The passes include preferred (I call it VIFF = Very Important Forum Fan) seating for the presentation being given by Mike O’Brien and Colin Johanson.
Doors open at 10:00 AM for the 10:30 AM presentation. You can get a few details here.
We’d like to invite a few of you to attend as our guest. If you’re interested in attending the presentation (and PAX South) on Saturday, January 24th, and are in or can be in the San Antonio, Texas area, please send me a PM by Monday, January 19. I should be able to get back to you on Tuesday to let you know if we’re able to add you to the (limited) guest list. (It goes without saying that we can only add people who will be able to attend, so please be sure of your availability.)
I won’t be at the event, but I know a lot of ArenaNet reps are looking forward to seeing you there. I hope from some of our fantastic forum members to get their names on the guest list!
We do plan to show the odds of winning as part of the final ladder when it’s released. We simply did not have the UI resources to get anything out in time for the test ladder.
Update: Please PLEASE look for the message at the bottom of any in-game mails. If it says “This message was sent by another player. It was not sent by the Guild Wars 2 Team” then you know it’s not from us.
If you are worried, submit a support ticket so CS can review it with you.

i’m still haveing this error
We’re looking into your issue. If you could provide us with a screenshot or the specific error code we can dig further. Thanks!
I think it might be confusing to call someone “Commander” when there is the Commander rank in the game. It seems that the team chose more generic terms to avoid confusion with actual game-achieved attainments.
You say that, yet everyone in the pact calls you commander.
This is true, everyone in the Pact calls you that because that’s what they know you as. DE2.0 aren’t in the pact though. They don’t have that background with you. They are civilians, they aren’t necessarily going to refer to you by your military rank. Its very similar in the real world typically speaking. I have 3 brothers in the military (not to mention a couple of cousins, several friends from high school, etc etc), I don’t refer to them as Drill Sargent, or Corporal, or Private or whatever their rank is because I’m a civilian.
This makes sense to me. There’s a distinction based on who is saying the name and their knowledge of and association with you, I agree.
Boss is bad.
I prefer Your Royal Highness.
That works for me. Oh, and I like “Light of all Beings” myself.
(I’m not ignoring the concerns in the thread, but AP’s comment did make me smile.)

The drops are random. The game is functioning just fine, as proved by those who have gotten a box, or more than one box.
If there were an issue with the game, the right place to post would be the Bugs Sub-Forum. But because nothing is broken, there’s no need to post there, and there’s certainly no need to continue to post the same complaint in multiple threads.
Closing thread.
Hey guys, we’re looking into this. Can any of you tell me if this is still happening?
Due to limitations within the current forum search engine, we want to suggest an alternative that may improve your search results and help you find the posts or threads you are seeking.
For the core forums and the GW2 Discussion sub-forum (dropping the “HTTP://), the URLs would be:
Here are some examples of how this could work for you.
Example #1
You wish to search in the “Players Helping Players” English-language sub-forum for the term “search options”
Type the following into the Google search bar: site:forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/game/players search options
This will bring up results on that topic in that sub-forum in English only.
Example #2
You wish to search in the “GW2 Discussion” subforum in French for the term “fractal drops”
Type this in to the Google search bar: site:forum-fr.guildwars2.com/forum/game/ fractal drops
This will bring up results on that topic in that sub-forum and in French only.
Example #3
You need to search for posts by a specific forum member. If you want to search in all German-language forums, type this:
site:forum-de.guildwars2.com/forum [player name]
As always, insert EN, FR, DE, or ES to be sure you’re searching in your preferred language.
Many thanks to Tom Yzf and other forum members for consolidating information that allowed us to post these tips.

I don’t remember signing up to sing in this. Did you talk to my agent?
Can confirm, Justin is awesome.
-Guy who sits next to him.
So we had a test season. Now we’re having an “off-season”. What exactly is the difference?
the test season had rewards. the off-season is just a leaderboard for our own enjoyment (those of us who care).
at least that’s my take
Basically this. After we look at the data we may change some things, without notice, just to watch how the resulting data changes.
Bug Fixes:
With there being a grace period now, what’s keeping us from queueing from open world?
The two aren’t really related. We’ve been talking about queuing outside the lobby, but I’m not sure if or when we may change that.
Surely you will be making changes to the rules and scoring at some point if you don’t want this to continue to be a bad joke. You can’t have people having to play 800 ranked matches in a month just to be able to have a decent chance of getting in the top 20-50 of the leaderboard. I don’t consider myself more then an average player that tries to play the right way but I got high enough on the leaderboard to consistently get a lot of matches with some of the clown shoes that grinded there way to the top 100 by playing an over-whelming amount of games and they were some of the worst players I have ever been forced to play with quite a few of them.
Yes, it is very likely we will be making changes and running another test season.
I’m busy crunching numbers right now and writing a ladder simulator so we can see what the results would have been with different rules. We won’t be making any changes until this is done and the team has time to go over possibilities.
I have no timetable for you.
Is this RNG discussion based solely upon obtaining one item in the game, i.e. the precursor?
It shouldn’t be. We shouldn’t be discussing rewards or items specifically, we should be discussing systems as a whole.
I wouldn’t continue it in this fashion if I didn’t agree that there could be superior systems.
How do you feel about hybrid RNG systems that employ such concepts as ‘streakbreaker’ mechanisms, that eventually force or enable some manner of deterministic option? I’m curious, as they’re not uncommon (consequently, I imagine they’ve been examined in various formats before), and wondering what the reasons might be for why they aren’t employed…or if its merely a matter of that they haven’t been employed yet.
Are they off the table? If so, why.
Are they topically relevant? If so, how do you feel about them?
I don’t think they’re off the table. I’ve played several games using this type of RNG in my research recently and they are not my favorite solution, but that’s still a personal opinion, I haven’t developed a professional one yet.
This game has gotten better and better and better and it’s going to be better and better and better than it is now.
To be fair there is no more factual backing for this statement than for his.
Touche
edited, because I got burned by my own chippyness.
I am sure one can come up with better solutions than these 3 John.
These aren’t solutions, they’re concepts that would be the framework behind a solution.
One thing that’s bothersome about all the feedback is that the overwhelming majority can’t stand it in it’s current form. But yet the devs continue to implement it as is.
Obligatory note that this statement has no factual backing in two senses. That being said, I began this thread because I wanted to open discussion on the fact. I wouldn’t continue it in this fashion if I didn’t agree that there could be superior systems.
I know it’s hard to imagine, but working in video games there is often a LARGE investment into changes. It’s not something that can happen overnight. I ask for lenience in this, it isn’t that we aren’t listening or not working, we are, really hard. I firmly believe this game has gotten better and better and better and it’s going to be better and better and better than it is now.

The designer behind the Vinewraith was Lisa Davis. You might remember her from such releases such as the Marionette, and Super Adventure Box! (But really, there isn’t just one boss designer on the Living World as all the designers contribute to the encounters in both design, implementation, and feedback. They all deserve cookies.)
For the professions swapping does the 1 min timer count for the time allotted before the match? Some of us are still running old O.S. =D and it takes a lil longer then a min to swap but typically I can be in at match start or slightly before.
Honestly, the back-end server that powers matchmaking also tracks disconnect time but is ignorant about the game’s actual state. It doesn’t know when the game goes from that ready-pending state to actually playing. We could add that, or we could have it implied through other data sent from the game server to the back-end, so I guess it doesn’t really matter.
I’ll run it by the team about not counting disconnection time until the game starts.
I’ll double check this with Josh.
Edit: It looks like the original blog post says 20, but I’ll still follow up on this.

I apologize for coming so late into this thread – major thanks to Konig for messaging me of it’s existence, by the way – and all I can say about this is wow! Congratulations! Well done!!
I honestly am very impressed with the effort you all have undertaken to get as far as you did with the little scraps of information that were provided, and I seriously wish I could give everyone involved in this a hundred achievement points for your hard work. :-)
I do want to do something more to mark this momentous feat, and I’m eager to wrangle up an appropriate response but as you may or may not be aware there’s this thing happening at PAX South on January 24th that we are focused on at present (hopefully you can understand). I plan to talk more about this tremendous accomplishment with you, and I hope to be able to follow up on this with everyone in the coming weeks and/or months.
Excelsior! ???_???
And to clarify, the grace period starts from loading into the map, correct? The ‘waiting for players’ segment is not exempt?
The time it takes you to connect the first time will not be included in the cumulative disconnection time. However, if you haven’t connected to the game at all within 1 minute grace period you will be marked as a deserter.
If you disconnect at any point, include the “waiting for players” segment, it will be included in the cumulative disconnection time.
(edited by Justin ODell.9517)
The LB will be reseted?
Yes. I will add that to the post.
And no penalty for profession swapping either? (assuming it doesn’t take you more than 1 minute to log back in) ?
Profession swapping is allowed, with no penalties. This isn’t a policy change, we just don’t feel we can enforce it at a quality level we are comfortable right now. No ETA on its return.
Also, is the 1 minute cumulative or consecutive? Example someone swaps toons and it takes them 35 seconds, then they swap in match again later and it takes them 35 seconds. Deserter?
Cumulative. One disconnect for 1 minute is treated the same as 3 disconnects that are 20 seconds long.
We will be putting the ranked arena into off-season ladder configuration on Saturday at 1am PST. All ladder aggregates (points, wins, losses) will be reset, and the leaderboard cleared, shortly before the ladder begins. This will not reset your account aggregates.
There are no rule or scoring changes, but we may make changes at some point.
Also, effective immediately, the disconnect grace period has been increased from 30 seconds to one minute.

Yes, it’s the highly talented Fred Tatasciore playing the spirit of Turai Ossa, as well as Ogden. Next time, I should try and get them into the same scene together, so that he can talk to himself. :-P
Rewards are not automated (yet), because of this they need to be pulled from the database, verified / spot checked, verified again, and then sent off to Customer Service who will then distribute them.
This can take some time, and I believe CS has a backlog they’re churning through.
What Ayrilana said – if Seimur sees you already have the Bloodstone pot pie in your inventory, he won’t give you another one. He has his reputation to protect, and it wouldn’t do to have people walking off with dozens of copies of his secret recipe!
In the screenshot it looks like your currently active story is the personal story, specifically “Through the Looking Glass” . Try switching to the Point of No Return story in the “Story Journal” portion of your journal, that should allow you to see the instance entry for the Living World story. I’m not sure if the story not being your active step is what prevented you from achieving credit for finishing it, but that would definitely explain why you’re unable to get you into the Living World story instance.
What about Profession based MMR?
It will probably remain disabled (but still being tracked) until we add character locking back.
