Continued praise and sincere gratitude to all the talented artists who contributed to the show and who keep our forums and our Tumblr pages lively. Keep that art coming, folks!
If you share here, great! Sharing on the forums means you have given us permission to feature the art. If you’re sharing on Tumblr, please always use the hashtag “#GW2 Fan Submission” to ensure we can showcase your art!
Special Note: We love all forms of art, but are particularly hoping to see some more videos or trailers and some musical pieces. If you’re a videographer, a trailer maker, or a musician, please consider sharing your work so that I, in turn, can share it on the show.
We’ll announce the March show date sometime in early March.

What do you think? Should top stats affect rating loss/gain? What if by gaining all top stats in a losing team the player loses no points at all?
No. I don’t want to encourage people to go after top stats over winning the game.
A few doubts come to mind:
Will saying YES to this mean that
A) I am voting for not being able to switch classes at that ‘’Waiting for Players’’ period that is to ‘’Narrow down your strategy’’? or
B) I am voting for not being able to switch classes once the match has effectively started and players are allowed to cap points?
You said that this polls will allow us to have profession specific ladders but I don’t see why A) would allow this and
wouldn’t. I can only see it not being able to be done if neither options get accepted. The system already considers the class that you were playing at the end of the match the ‘’class of the match’’ anyway, if we lock what we play once the match effectivelly starts instead of at the let’s call it ‘’waiting for players’’ period that should be able to be done already.
If professions aren’t locked when you queue, then people would queue on a low MMR profession, then switch to their main profession before the match starts in order to game matchmaking. This is why we cannot currently use profession MMR.
Bra (80 Guard), Fixie Bow (80 Ranger), Wcharr (80 Ele)
Xdragonshadowninjax (80 Thief)
This has to come hand in hand with banning class stacking or build stacking why can’t we look at amulets/builds instead. So two guardians is fine if one is a trapper and the other vanilla burn guardian for example. Or support Druid and pew pew power ranger.
Are you advocating we lock builds on queue too?
We would need some epic machine-learning matchmaking in order to handle balance changes.
Bra (80 Guard), Fixie Bow (80 Ranger), Wcharr (80 Ele)
Xdragonshadowninjax (80 Thief)
I think its a very good idea to poll this and not just dump it on people. Thank you for that!
Question is, if we have our classes locked will matchmaking force tournament rules on us, I mean 1 class per team only? I would love to try this. yes qtime will most likely increase, but Id rather wait 2-3 minutes more in q than having 10 minutes of a frustrating match with 5 thieves/guards. unranked could still stay the way it is now.
It’s hard to say what will happen to queue times if we enforce a hard limit on professions. The compromise is to let the profession limit increase over time.
Bra (80 Guard), Fixie Bow (80 Ranger), Wcharr (80 Ele)
Xdragonshadowninjax (80 Thief)
Hey all! We are definitely aware of this issue and are investigating. Any details you may have – like when it happened, if you were in a party, if everyone accepted the match (or if no one accepted) before you were kicked out would be helpful.

You should stop people from changing class after pressing “accept” on the queue
This is what the poll is for.
You said that it would not be possible to change class once the 10s countdown starts, but before that there is a whole min where people can change build/class freely and I’ve thought the poll was used to decide whether or not people should be allowed to change class during that minute.
You are correct. Once the final 10 second countdown starts, there is no reason to swap characters, so we’ll lock that down to prevent exploits. The 90 second warmup is the period during which characters could additionally be locked if the poll succeeds.
Bra (80 Guard), Fixie Bow (80 Ranger), Wcharr (80 Ele)
Xdragonshadowninjax (80 Thief)
Do I get it correcty that with the “YES” option, there is no way for me as a player to adapt to team composition? Say, i see we have DPS with no sustain before the match starts, there is no way for me to swap to support, even if this swap would not cause class stacking?
Then I find it a bad idea, it takes away an important aspect of the game and makes Solo/DuoQ even more a lottery because class is not identical with role.
You are correct, but there are trade-offs to both options. This is why we created a poll! If we lock characters on queue, we can do things like use profession-specific MMR, have profession leaderboards, etc.

Bra (80 Guard), Fixie Bow (80 Ranger), Wcharr (80 Ele)
Xdragonshadowninjax (80 Thief)
Does it mean that class swithing during the match will be unavailable in both cases?
Yes. We will disallow swapping characters once the 10 second countdown begins. This prevents things like playing 95% of a match and then swapping for profession achievements.

A message from the PvP Team,
A poll regarding profession locking in PvP is up!

Please share your thoughts and feedback on the poll in this thread!
Oh whoops, those fields didn’t actually get implemented. I’ve removed them from the github examples and opened a tracking issue to add them back in.
Devs play on a lot of different worlds and move around frequently and that includes the WvW team. However, the WvW team also plays together on a different random world once a week.
I am going to be giving this video a call-out during today’s Community Showcase Live stream. I highly recommend this video!

I’m delighted to say that due to the initiative of a Guild Wars 2 fan, the artist has become aware of my request to share with us, and says she will do so. This means we should be able to feature the music in an upcoming Community Showcase Live show! (That will mean March or later.)
Thanks to whomever reached out to her!

Hey Ashantara, thank you for the report. We’re prepping a fix but no eta when it will be out.
Hey guys! Thank you for the reports. We’re working on a fix! =D
Daniel Dociu will be leaving ArenaNet. Daniel has been defining the art direction for ArenaNet since 2003, before the launch of Guild Wars, and the impact he’s made on the studio and industry will be seen for years to come. It’s been a pleasure to work with him. Daniel, thank you for thirteen wonderful years creating worlds together. We’ll miss you. We look forward to your continued success.
Horia Dociu now takes over as the art director of Guild Wars 2. Horia also first joined the Guild Wars art team in 2003. He loves the game, he lives and breathes the art, and he continues our tradition of putting art at the forefront, never settling, relentlessly pushing ourselves to new heights. With Horia as art director, the game is in great hands.

Last evening, an update note shared information about this quest line:
- Fixed issue with the Honorary Crew Member achievement that requires players to complete both the White Mantle and skritt versions of the SS Pinkeens event. Players now only need to complete one version of the event to obtain the achievement.
I believe that addresses one of the main concerns—having to do both sides of the event—and it appears that forum members have shared some strategy ideas, as well. If there are additional concerns, please post to let us know, but from my perspective, it appears that the changes coupled with the play-through advice should address most of them. Thanks.

Ah, my b.
No, guild storage changes are currently not logged in a runtime querable format at all.
:/
I have a fix for these rings and for Mystic Forging the armor submitted. I can’t say when it will make its way to live, but the fix is on the way.
We also should have the League title situation resolved by the end of the week.
This issue has been addressed, and Jade Shards now can be obtained from Jade Fragments.

Bug fixes:
- Fixed an issue causing accessory dyes to appear unintentionally dark on certain charr-exclusive hairstyles.
- Fixed an issue that could cause the boss fixate to break if a fixated player enters the downed state in the Underground Facility fractal.
- Fixed an issue in which the checkpoint for the Mursaat Overseer would not update for players entering Bastion of the Penitent after the barricade event was complete.
- Fixed a rare bug that would prevent Caudecus from transitioning properly after the first phase of the fight.
- Fixed issue with the Honorary Crew Member achievement that requires players to complete both the White Mantle and skritt versions of the SS Pinkeens event. Players now only need to complete one version of the event to obtain the achievement.
- Fixed an issue that would prevent Glenna from spawning if players entered Bastion of the Penitent after Samarog had been defeated.
- Renamed the Execute the Executioner achievement to Perfect Execution. This achievement now requires players to complete either the “Defeat the White Mantle and save the villager from burning event” or the “Escort the quaggan refugees to their destinations” event in order to obtain it.
- Fixed an issue that caused quaggan refugees to not scale properly.
- Made the overzealous villagers around Lakeside Bazaar clean up correctly.
- Fixed a bug that caused the Bolt Vol. 3 collection items to be unobtainable in Thaumanova.
- Fixed an issue with challenge motes in Stronghold of the Faithful and Bastion of the Penitent.
- Fixed an issue that allowed players to reach unintended locations during the Cairn the Indomitable encounter.
- Added a limit to the number of Jade Fragments that can be mined each day.
- Fixed an issue that prevented the Moonlighting achievement from being correctly awarded in Lake Doric.

Because cats are superior creatures. You had to ask!?

I thought you preferred frogs?
Well, I have a lot of things I love: Cats, Frogs, Bats, Owls… I am fond of a lot of creatures. Frogs hold a special place in my heart, it’s true. <3
Anet is all about the cats….
Just use a swear word on the forums and you will see for yourself.
Absolutely and unquestionably true! What other company in the gaming industry — in the world — has a Kittenizer?

Join me on Wednesday, February 15th, at Noon Pacific on our Twitch Channel for our fan art program. Special dev guest will be programmer Alina Chadwick!
The show is reverting to the old “live” format, rather than “live in chat” so forgive my various flubs or muffles on the names and such. We have all sorts of great art to share with you: music, crafts, visual art, video — we will run the gamut!
So grab your lunchbox if you’re West Coast, take a break if you’re on the East Coast, or settle in for some evening viewing if you’re over in Europe. The show runs about 40 minutes, and we’ll have it on YouTube later in the week.
We look forward to seeing you on Twitch or YouTube!

Unranked and Ranked Arenas will be taken down for maintenance Tuesday February 14th at 3 PM Pacific (11 PM UTC). We will update this thread prior to the start of the maintenance. The process should take no longer than an hour. Custom Arenas will be available for use during this time. Sorry for the inconvenience.
This is a bug and we are currently tracking a fix for it
This looks like a bug. Any chances, this could be fixed in the API-server?
Eugh, it’s probably bugged because the Hint Completion achievement requires you to complete 0 sub-achievements — so any accounts which have a non-zero value there will have that achievement in the API, but not any new accounts. Here’s a tracking issue.
But what if there is actually an ID for every listing done by users and anet is just not providing us with that functionality? It would be so much easier with this to calculate if it was a normal buy or just a cancellation of order.
There is an id associated with every listing (the ids are returned from /v2/commerce/transactions), but we’re never going to return that from /v2/commerce/listings. The basic rundown is that those transaction ids are only stored in the actual database — which for performance reasons the API doesn’t have access to. Instead, the API talks to some servers which have cached aggregates for the listings (basically, what’s displayed on the UI in-game).
Adding in the ids would require piping them through a small handful of backend services and would probably have some serious performance implications, so it’s never going to happen.
Oh! And is there a limit to how fast I can make another GET request?
Not currently, but there’s some caching going on. Check the Expires/Cache-Control response headers to see how often the API’s data is updated. My rough rule of thumb is to keep below 100k requests/day; we haven’t had issues so far but reserve the right to add in a rate limit if there’s ever a problem.
Those achievements have been manually whitelisted.
Due to an potential exploit related to Mursaat Overseer and Samarog challenge mote conversations, we have temporarily disabled these conversations. Players may continue to enjoy the raid, but will not be able to activate these challenge motes until we have addressed the issue. Thanks for your understanding
Both this and the bolt achievements are currently bugged, but should work with the next patch. Sorry for the inconvenience
It is intended that you need to survive the encounter to get credit for the Jade Heart, as Spatial Manipulation will not hit dead characters (and if you could activate the heart in combat, you could just wait until the boss was nearly dead before using it).
I am sorry that we don’t have a better way to track giving credit for the collection without having to reactivate the heart between attempts, but unfortunately, there’s not an easy solution.
We’re looking into it, thanks for the heads up!
Konig is correct.
