Let me be transparent about this. Someone posted asking for us to provide him with some 3D models. You responded with an extremely negative and entirely off-topic comment about a perceived (and non-factual) “lack of communication.” The comment was removed because it was reported. It was reported because it was both off-topic and derailing to the thread in question.
Questions about moderation should be addressed to the forums team by writing Forums@Arena.Net. As is made clear in frequent posts and in our Forum Code of Conduct.
Incidentally, you were given neither points nor penalty with the removal of your post, and were given a detailed reasoning for its removal. Any further question may be addressed via an e-mail to the above-cited address. However, I would sincerely hope that this detailed explanation will end the discussion.
AWS is having network issues at this time.
If someone owns the GW2 Discs.. does this automatically convert them to 64 bit, or is it still 32 bit, and they would have to download the new installer?
The client found on the disc should patch to whatever is appropriate for your system. i.e. if you meet the specs needed for the 64-bit client, it will load it.
EotM does not count towards those metrics.

Yak’s Bend is among the highest worlds in terms of play hours and ranks gained, which is the primary metric we use to determine which worlds we lock each week.

Bug Fix:
I don’t like the fractal in it’s current state, and absolutely want to rework it (and other fractals). Right now though my full focus is on the next fractal, and I just don’t have the resources to commit to a Jade Maw rework in the near future. ;(
Yes, ,as nottsgman posted, we are still working on this and will get that boost for you as soon as we can! Thanks for your patience.
My game crashes when i start the client. Example: there is a patch available on gw2 and you start the client, it just shows only the loading screen and it crashes already… hope that you understand
This sounds like symptoms of a third party program interfering with the client. Can you post the details (found after clicking on Show Details in the crash dialog)?
If it’s showing the crash report dialog, please post the details from it. (You can see it after clicking Show Details.)
If it’s showing the in-game error box, please post the error code (on bottom right, looks like xx:xx:xx:xx:xx)

Ugh, best guess is that it’s including the current skirmish score twice. I’ll see if I can get that fixed next week; I’m all hopped up on cold meds right now and don’t trust myself to make any correct changes right now.
Next week I’ll look into exposing the raw skirmish data in addition to fixing this.
Yep! This feature is almost ready. Here’s the github pull request.
Update (2/25/2017): the Max-Level Boost items are disabled until further notice, as we continue investigating issues with it. We’re sorry for the inconvenience and will update this thread when we have more information.
Bug Fixes:
Hello Tyrians,
We have temporarily disabled the Level 80 boost item to address an issue. While we investigate, players will still be able to purchase HoT and receive the level 80 boost item but won’t be able to use it.
Players who had just started using the boost to test their characters in the Silverwastes will be returned to their home (example: Divinity’s Reach for Humans etc) and the effects of the boost will be cancelled as if they had not yet used it.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we are working on this. We will update this thread when the issue has been fixed and the boost has been re-enabled.
Q_Q This is not a good set of links.
Hey man I don’t make the rules I just break the API endpoints.
I updated the temporary hardcoded API configs for the NA merges+matchups; let me know if I botched something else; I’ll check back later tonight. AFAIK everything should be working (KDRs should be fixed, /v1 endpoints should be fixed, scores should be the total match scores, not just skirmish scores, etc).
What a week.
“The skill-use damage will also now trigger when the affected target is interrupted during skill activation.”
Seems to be working again, but now kills and deaths are equals to 0
After briefly panicking, the fix for the KDR data is en-route.
Hopefully this will be the last stop on today’s pain train.
Bug Fixes:
Wow, and now score is score of the current skirmish (and not the total score of the week). Is it a another bug or is it defenitive ?
Uhh, that’s a bug.
Sorry, bear with me on these changes.
EDIT: also apologies for this disaster; I’ll bundle the fix for that one with the /v1 deploy later today.

Swapping back to the original character should redirect you back into the match. I haven’t been able to reproduce any issues with this personally. Are you sure you selected the right character? Did you see the error popup again after swapping back?
The poll has ended! Profession locking did not pass. The final result was 53% No and 47% Yes. Thank you for your participation.
Hmm, not actually a bug. Those recipes aren’t craftable by any disciplines.
I’ve gone ahead and un-whitelisted them; they might show back up since they’re technically auto-learned (e.g. every account should have them unlocked).
Color me confused because Spatial Surge looks like basically the same fact type? I opened a tracking issue for this; it’ll get sorted at some point.
Are all these problems related to an update of the api?
Specifically, to an update to one of the API’s backend components. Long story short, we updated how WvW data is stored last year and the API component has been using the old data source which doesn’t have some of the newer features. Talking to the new data source is a bit involved so I’ve been rolling back after finding more bugs on stage each release. This time the bugs didn’t crop up until it was on live (whoops).
Despite that, this time everything appears to be working except for the merges/matchup worlds, which I can just update manually at reset until the next release. Everything should be more-or-less good to go after the next release (i.e. patch not hotfix).
I dont recognize seeing points_tick, points_capture, yaks_delivered or upgrades before. Also appears that there are objectives with a new “Spawn” type.
The updated backend code has support for the extra fields, so the API frontend detects that and just emits them with the response. There’s an open PR on github for those that needs to be closed out (I’ll have to go through github and merge a bunch of stuff I think). I can strip out the Spawn objectives if wanted; IIRC some application developers and I had a discussion on gitter and the conclusion was to just leave them in.
EDIT: Hmm I guess I should fix the v1 API as well.

World linkings have changed. Please reference the Guild Wars 2 wiki for the latest world links: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World#Currently_linked_worlds
Not sure if there is a misunderstanding or just a problem with wording, but the bonus for getting 80% of the enemy score is only for league pips and does not affect your rating.
Also not sure what you mean by death stats getting wiped. We added death counts to stats recently but don’t give top stats for them.
Are you sure this is the case? It looks fine on my end. If you scroll down you should see all stat types available. The HoT chests have Tyria stats AND HoT stats.
Update: The Bastion of the Penitent raid wing is now available.
Bug Fixes:
Fix incoming soon. Sorry about that!
Whitelisted all of those items. No idea why they weren’t in the queue.
Lawton, would you prefer additional bug reports to be posted here, posted as a separate thread, or should we skip this forum and directly create a Github issue (https://github.com/arenanet/api-cdi/issues)?
It doesn’t matter too much for me — for whitelist issues it’s usually only a few minutes to fix, so I can just fix them as they come up. For anything larger, I’ll create a github issue one way or another so that I don’t totally forget about it.
Do whatever’s easiest for you. If you do open github issues, open separate issues for each batch of ids so I can close ‘em out and keep track of which I’ve done though.
This chest should have all the HoT stats if you scroll down. Which stat combinations are you not seeing?
Okay, it’s back up now, but due to EVEN MORE BUGS (i did this) it’s only being held together with gum and duct tape. Some caveats while I work through the underlying problems:
On Friday (and next Friday ;_;), I plan to disable the endpoint when the scores zero, then manually update the hardcoded bits once the new matchups are decided, then turn it back on; should be back up before the initial RI runs out.
There is a fix in the works. Soon™.
We pushed a fix for this out yesterday. Let us know if you’re still having trouble!
It’s not currently possible. I opened a tracking issue for this.
It’s actually totally unrelated; for the WvW APIs I basically broke everything. Thought the fix I put into the first hotfix would correct the issue, but there turned out to be a totally unrelated issue that caused it to still be broken.
I’ll have it fixed tomorrow provided the rest of the API backend doesn’t explode and catch fire.
Sorry
Is the achievement you have completed called “The Sword Regrown”? While playing in someone else’s instance, you should receive a “Regrown Caladbolg” choosy box when you obtain that achievement. Can you check to see if you have this item?

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read these messages and respond to the community.
My question is what is Arenanet’s perspective on the skill Epidemic in its current state? I am a passionate WvW player, and Epidemic has been a hotbed issue in our communities for the greater half of the past year. Unlike nearly every other skill in the game, a player is punished if an ally fails to evade or invuln- not the player him/herself! There is no reasonably visible tell for a player to dodge this skill before it hits, and the frustration is compounded by the fact that Epidemic can also be cast on non-player objects and NPCs such as keep lords and siege equipment. Entire metas and gameplay styles have evolved around this single skill and I am concerned that the absence of any changes or reworks of this skill will further push the dwindling WvW player base to its breaking point.
Thank you for reading.
Thanks for posting!
There are some aspects about this skill that we want to fix when we get a chance, such as negative condition duration not affecting transferred conditions (it also doesn’t increase durations, but that wouldn’t be desirable). Some aspects of it are odd and we’ll be looking at certain epidemic targets (such as wvw doors).
The ability (in its design and in-game-play) does what we would like it to, where if conditions stack up you get to condition-bomb everything. With that said, we do want there to be some counter-play available to large groups. In this update, the addition of condition clears when blasting light fields was made in part to help combat Epidemic and area condition spikes.
Cheers,
-Karl
I totally understand the Meteorshower nerv.
But why the Air-Overload?
D/W ele was at one level with thief and condi ranger. (and maybe engi if he is really good)
Now there are better classes in the only thing eles can do in raids.Ok, you can heal. But then we would need an uniqe group buff or something like this. Otherwise Druids are better.
Make Eles great again!
Overall Ele’s are and have been a bit out of bounds power wise, We’ve been trying to bring them in line. The profession has a huge variance in skill level and applications and they bring a lot to the table in any situation which makes them really hard to make changes to. Overload created an insane amount of damage and a 7% reduction isn’t going to stop that from being played but bring it more in line. As for Meteor Shower when it came to big targets the number of times this would hit was insane so this change helps normalize it so other profession with skills that don’t scale as insanely against large monsters can better compete.
Druid spirits are still 5 targets. Considering warrior banners are 10 targets now, is this an oversight that will be addressed very soon?
This was not an oversight. Making something affect ten targets is not something we want to do across the board for unique buffs.
They are pretty costly performance-wise, however this is not to say it will never happen.
Since alacrity is now no longer mesmer exclusive, are there any plans on making quickness more widely available too? I realise other classes currently already have the boon, but it’s nowhere near the 100% uptime chronos can dish out.
We’ll place quickness where it is appropriate, but don’t have that as a specifically targeted plan.
Chronomancer is the time-themed elite specialization and their being able to grant quickness and alacrity better than anyone else is spot on…
(Until we add the Quickenator Elite Specialization)
Are you guys considering reworking or balancing food, runes, sigils, utility and so forth along with class balance changes? (at some point)
Food/utility/runes/sigils are “on the table”, but haven’t really been a primary focus. Being as these also have a monetary, economic or progression impact, we tend to vet any changes much more before iterating and it tends to have a lower impact in general.
From the PvP side, we’re able to change runes and sigils at-will, but also want to keep them feeling the same as on the PvE side.
Edited for kittens
(edited by Karl McLain.5604)
So my question is, do you have any plans in the future to standardise common buffs and turn them into boons? Or would it be something you’d be interested in doing soon?
We don’t have any plans to turn buffs like alacrity and superspeed into boons. Boons have ways to extend their duration so their power levels can fluctuate heavily based on equipment and trait selection making powerful effects very difficult to balance.
When you balance for PvE how much do you take into consideration what current compositions look like for content like fractals and raids? Do you try to balance in a way that more classes become optimal for that content or do you aim for general viability?
We always consider raids and fractal composition when balancing. We gather input from a lot of different teams whenever we do a balance pass, including suggestions from fractals and raids teams. We try to keep in mind feedback from a variety of different sources when building our balance changes.
Regarding class optimization. I’d say that it’s more accurate to say we want every class to be viable in each game mode.
