I’m sorry about the delay, but the team will need to help him because they can look up the various components of the account, verify ownership, and provide him with the info he needs. Thanks for your patience — both of you!
What they are asking is, have you tried to contact GW2 support? If you have, then that account is the support’s way to communicate with you. GW2 uses the parent company for support access.
Correct. We have some CS Agents in Bellevue, at the ArenaNet studio. I work at the studio, as well. Many agents work at the NCsoft offices in Austin, Texas. So getting an email from our parent company — NCSOFT — is not in and of itself any cause for alarm.
Tickets are always reviewed, you can be confident in that. At a quick count, about half a dozen agents were involved in the thorough review given this issue.
A “charge-back” request comes directly from the customer. A credit card agency will not process a charge-back unless it is initiated by and made with the consent of the credit-card holder. So if you did not initiate the charge-back, perhaps someone else did so on behalf of the credit card account: A spouse, a parent, a partner, etc.
Put another way, if a bank or credit card agency is going to stop a purchase, they simply do not accept it to begin with. They don’t accept it and then later file a charge-back. And the most recent response contained information that let you know that we have no record that you or someone related to the cared attempted to resolve any issues with us, and therefore, unfortunately, did not have a chance to resolve whatever that issue may have been. Instead, the charge-back was filed. And at that time, all monies paid to us were refunded, as requested.
I reviewed the ticket, and had one of the team members do so as well. The account cannot be reinstated or released for the application of a new serial code.
I wonder if Anet learned anything from all the people who got frustrated with RNG in the last several holidays and will just sell the backpack directly instead of hiding it in a box
You can buy the quaggan backpack straight from the gem store.
Traits are disabled during many transformations. (But not any skill based transforms, I believe.)
It is not intended to be able to switch characters mid-match, in tournaments. This is on our list of things to fix.
Hello everybody,
since there´s no constructive discussion going on here, the thread will now be locked.
Thanks for understanding.
With the holiday season at an end, the last remaining Wintersday merchant is closing shop. Make sure to finish your exchanges before January 28th PST, when the Festive Lionguard will be packing his wares and leaving Tyria.
Just want to step in here for a second to comment on a few speculations:
There will be no mounts, no Cantha and no dragons coming with this story arc.
Sorry if that destroyed some dreams. So… we can rule out Dragons riding in from Cantha on the backs of unicorns then?
Affirmative.
The safety net for this incident broke, and it will be fixed this next patch. If a boss can’t attack you back due to terrain issues, he/she/it will go invulnerable and reset like before.
There are several posts on this issue, but I can’t seem to find them. (Things disappear pretty quickly.) It’s a known bug, the next content update is scheduled for the end of January. and will hopefully fix this up.
Hey everybody,
We have implemented a change in private messages in order to put a stop to these gold spammers. More information can be found via the post linked below:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Change-in-Private-Message-Limitations
I strongly encourage you to never share your account credentials with anyone.
If you want to be on a common world and cannot wait the relatively short time that it generally takes for a space to become available, ask your friends to join you on a less-populated world. (The average wait time is a few hours; those who wait many days are in a tiny minority.) I do appreciate and sympathize with the situation, but that is the option that is available right now.
Be aware that giving your credentials to someone else puts you in breach of the User Agreement and puts you at substantial risk of account theft or of having your account found to be in “ownership dispute” so that it must be permanently terminated. We do not want that to happen to you, so please, choose wisely!
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
Not at this time, no.
At the end of each story step, you’re asked if you wish to accept the story owner’s progress, and any choices they made. So, yes, if you wish to make a different choice durig the mission, you cannot accept credit for it.
I understand your thoughts about a “transfer queue” system. I mentioned it to a co-worker, because I think the idea has merit. We came up with some questions about the process, basically, “How would that work?”
What if you were in the middle of a dungeon and got the message? Would queueing cause people to abandon parties? What if you were offline, would such a queue simply move you without your consent? (We don’t even do that from overflow to normal worlds right now — you must indicate you do wish to move.) If you declined to move because you were in the middle of playing, what happens — do you drop to the bottom of the queue or do you get asked again and again until you accept?
Basically, this sounds good in theory, but there seem to be a lot of questions about how it would work in a functional sense. I will see if I can ping a developer about this, but you’d do well to post this in the Suggestions Forum, because that is reviewed daily and it would catch the eye of devs over there.
The bottom line is that your home world situation isn’t really an account issue. It’s related to your account, yes, but this forum is built more to address access issues and questions about things like suspensions, policies that result in timeouts, etc. So with all due respect I’m going to lock this thread and encourage you to post in the GW2 Suggestions and/or Discussion forum.

This is still a known issue. We recognize that this impacts some of our players heavily, so we definitely want to remedy it. However, the fix is rather involved, so we don’t yet have an ETA on when this will be fixed.
Hello, and thank you to everyone who’s taken the time to post about the issue with all sylvari females “yipping” occasionally when they take damage. A bug was found with one of the sound files—yes, a bona fide bug and not a matter of taste. The problem was fixed in a previous patch. I believe the fix came through with the Wintersday content.
Everyone who was plagued by the issue, feel free to play your female sylvari characters again and let us know what you think!
Yes, as others pointed out, the name was offensive. Since players cannot change their display name—for what I think are pretty obvious reasons—the CS Team anagrams the name from the letters used.
If players aren’t supposed to be able to change their display names for obvious reasons, then character name change(supposedly coming in the future) should be the same and should not be offered.
With character name change in GW1, you’re limited to once a month or something like that. I don’t see why this can’t be implemented on display names as well. Maybe like once a year even.
This does not make sense.
There is a distinct difference between the display name and the character name. If someone wants to do bad things and hide, he could delete a character in an attempt to hide, to “wipe the slate clean.” But with a continuing display name that cannot be changed, the community as a whole has a means to identify those people.
We allow deletion of characters. We will offer a character name change feature in the future. But I don’t think we’ll offer optional display name changes, although naturally that is subject to review and an option may be offered in the distant future.

As some of you may be aware, we have recently had a rash of gold sellers spamming your forum inboxes. In an effort to halt this activity, we will be implementing new limitations on private messaging. From this point onward, players will have to wait 72 hours from their first forum login before they are able to send a private message on the forums.
We have blocked all the accounts involved and this new limitation will prevent gold sellers from abusing our forum systems in the future.
Thank you for your understanding.
This is indeed considered a terrain exploit and will be fixed in the next patch.
Hello, I’m here to crush your dreams.
There will be no mounts coming with the Flame and Frost story arc.
Also, to address further speculation we’ve seen about the concept art for Flame and Frost (and what it may portend): there will be no Cantha and no dragons coming with the Flame and Frost story arc, either.
Thank you.
But you haven’t ruled out unicorns.
ANET SAYS WE’RE GETTING UNICORNS!
This is very odd! I believe this is not an account issue, but a Bug. I was going to ask you to post in the bug forum with as detailed a report as possible, but it occurs to me that we need to know the names of the accounts involved, and I’d rather not ask you to provide other account display names. (It’s not a security issue, but it seems nicer to keep this private.)
So please contact Support by filing a ticket through the “Ask a Question” tab on that linked page. Give as many details a possible — who sent, to whom, when — and any error messages you got. You could do a walk-through, so that the QA team can try to duplicate this.
Thanks for your help with this report!
A Bug-report of this problem with account names was filed by both my guild-mate & by me before the first posting about this on this forum.
from my end, everything looks normal. From guild-mates end, mail is not recieved until a third person sends mail to them. no error messages
May I have those 12-digit ticket numbers, so that I can review the tickets?
My account was currently hacked. I accept it as my fault and have already added an authenticator. My biggest issue is that they have transfered all of my characters to a different server and I would like to know if there is a way to get them back to my original server.
Thanks for any help with this issue.
If you will please update your ticket to make this request, the team will do their best to get you back to your home world.
Just want to step in here for a second to comment on a few speculations:

This has turned out to be a more complicated issue than fixing the rest of the Ghastly weapons, but we’re still working on figuring out why the bows are losing their effects. Thank you for your patience, everyone!
Wow, another great community building thread. Thanks to all of you who have contributed with this!!!!
I’ll watch to see how often you guys update it, and if we need to, I can sticky it.
I got a “survey” from Ncsoft after i got an infraction overturned.
Didn’t fill it in though, so perhaps its safe not to?
We do send surveys. I got one for making a “test” ticket, in fact.
No worries, but naturally check the link before clicking through. It should go to an NCsoft.com address.
Hey there. I think I can put your mind at ease. NCSOFT is our parent company and many of our GMs work at NCSOFT offices. So getting an email saying that you have an NCSOFT support account is perfectly fine, as long as it truly came from us. Please note that we recommend reviewing all links in all emails, so that you know that if it says “Click here” and it leads to shadywebsite.com, you won’t go there, but if it leads to Arena.Net, or GuildWars2, or NCSOFT, you’re ok.
If you are certain that you did not reach out to us in any way — the support.guildwars2.com site, and email to support@guildwars2.com, a contact to forums@arena.net, a phone call, whatever — then I want to see the email. Please update me on whether you did any of those things.

This is a cool idea, and it’s great to see what awesome screen shots you all come up with.
Nice work! Big Doctor Who fan here.
Guild halls are something that we would like to have in the future, but currently we’re not actively working on them.
Thanks for the report. The web team is taking a look at this now.
And that concern is this: I’m worried that this entire multi-month event is just setting the stage for the first expansion, and that we’ll have to buy the expansion to get the full story. GW1 managed to introduce entire post-campaign storylines of a fairly significant size and did it entirely for free, so I sure hope GW2 isn’t drumming up this multi-month event for additional drama when they announce the first expansion. That’d be awfully disappointing.
Colin, mind putting my fears to rest, please?
This is not a live storyline that requires you to purchase an expansion to discover the ending, no. This month is a small pre-cursor / lead-in to kick off a storyline that will play out over the coming months.
Might not want to use the word precursor, people are gonna freak out! :P
LOL nice catch! Fixed
That should say dynamic level adjustment system, way back in the day we called that the sidekicking system and that snuck through to the website.
How it did so without any of us noticing is an enigma wrapped in a paradox, surrounded in a mystery.

Just ascended amulets? what about the rest of the gear?
Good question!
Ascended rings will also be available for laurels as well. Back slot items will be made more widely available in the future and will likely tie into a different reward system.
(Please note, the ascended gear purchased for laurels will not have agony resistance built in, since that mechanic is currently unique to progression in the fractal dungeons. They are however statistically the same as any other ascended gear.)
We will also introduce an additional reward system (or systems) in the future to make these items more accessible to WvW players on top of the laurel system.
The remaining ascended item types will be introduced in future releases, and may or may not tie into the laurel system, TBD.
(Edited to add note about agony)
Thanks for the post and clarification! The ascended items obtainable via laurel, will they at least have the infusion slot? Or just the stats?
You will also be able to put infusions in the ascended gear from laurels, yes!
I’m sure I read somewhere that the achievement points we already have from previous dailies and monthlies will be taken into account with this update, so some of us will already have some currency to spend?
Laurels are only earned through daily and monthly achievements (starting with the feb monthly) and will not reward for previous daily/monthly achievements completed since folks didn’t know this system was coming.
We will however introduce an expanded/new reward system in the future that will reward for other types of achievements, this system will reward previous achievement points earned. (But may require bringing back into line some infinitely repeatable achievements that would bloat/break this system)
Just ascended amulets? what about the rest of the gear?

I don’t want Guild Wars 2 to sound like every other fantasy title out there with the standard British accents on every character. So aside from more British accents, what other types of voices would you like to hear?
As a British person, I can tell you that there are a LOT of accents in Britain itself. I wonder if by “standard” British accents you mean either of the ones Americans tend to know; kittenney (Dick van kitten in Mary Poppins), and Posh (the rest of the cast of Mary Poppins) (The filter is stopping my from naming the Dick van kitten accent, but it is a regional accent from London. Oh wow, I can’t even type his name. This censorship is insane). You could also try (and I know I’m lumping a lot of regional variations and/or dialects together here);
Welsh,
Scottish,
Northern Irish,
Geordie,
Scouse,
Northern English,
Midlands,
South-Western English.By far and away the worst voice acting I have ever heard is Detha in AC saying, “but I have to build them myself”. A completely ridiculous emphasis on the word “build” makes this sound absolutely comical.
I think we’re in agreement that there are many types of British accents—just as there are many types of American ones. I was referring to the common practice and perception that most fantasy games (and films) tend to feature British accents of all types for the cast. I’m not saying that there’s anything wrong with that, by the way, just that it seems the norm.
We tended to get the best performances from actors who spoke in their native accent. Perhaps it’s a comfort zone thing. There were a few exceptions, though. I thought Jennifer Hale pulled off a great sylvari performance, all things considered. I rather liked Brandon Bales, too. Neither are from England as far as I know. Then again, I’ve never lived overseas so I doubt my ears can detect where our acted British accents sounded “off” as well as you can.
We’ve already made some changes to our casting process since launch, so I’d like to hear your feedback as time goes on and newer performances make it into the game.
You should totally transmute these, we will not change them into ascended items.
I would also like to point out that with transmutation you can continue to transmute the item later on. For example you could transmute a skin you put on an exotic weapon onto an ascended weapon.
Personal story/cinematics: HORRIBLE
Ambient scenes and events: AWESOMEI still can’t believe the difference. Possibly two different teams?
Yes. Separate teams handled writing the different content types leading up to ship. That is no longer the case. My team is now responsible for the final output of all text and VO in the game, and I am now fully responsible for the quality. As a result of this change, I am now empowered to take the writing and VO in a direction that’s more consistent with the ambient scenes and events.
Personally, my biggest concern with the voice acting in this game is the lack of variety of accents. EVERYONE in the game sounds american, and they all speak in AMERCIAN english rather than British english, or just pronounce words how people would pronounce them if they had come from the same part of america. Prime examples are “CenTAR instead of CenTOUR” (thats the main one I can think of off the top of my head because it is said so much) but I have noticed many, many others that could have more diversity to them in order to add to the immersion. (Imagine if every english speaking person in the world said things exactly the same)
That’s not entirely true. We have a number of non-American accents in the game that are delivered by natural speakers. Here’s a small list as an example (but there are more).
Also, the game is made in America, we write it in American English, and most of our actors live in Los Angeles. That stated, I agree that we could use some more vocal diversity in the game, but I don’t want Guild Wars 2 to sound like every other fantasy title out there with the standard British accents on every character. So aside from more British accents, what other types of voices would you like to hear?
And yes, some of the pronunciations are a little janky. That sometimes happens. We fix what we can, when we can. I’ve also named a clear owner of our pronunciation guide, which should minimize these kinds of gaffes going forward.
It’s always a little bit awkward when you’re about to write a post criticizing the writing and voice acting of the game only to see that the game’s lead writer is watching the thread. Even so, I’m going to agree with everyone else- ambient dialogue is great (if a bit repetitious in LA) and story writing and voice acting is generally quite terrible…Conclusions: ambient dialogue is great, the cutaway conversation scenes highlight the worst parts of the game’s voice acting and writing. Norns are bad, Asuras are great, and Nolan North is playing Nathan Drake with a codpiece.
I hope you’re all comfortable voicing your opinions here. We value your honesty, and read as much of your feedback as we’re able. I can’t be too specific right now, but rest assured that we’re making some changes to how we write, edit, cast, voice, and present story in the game. The past few live releases should hopefully give you a small idea of where we’re headed.
For the record, Nolan doesn’t show up to VO sessions in a codpiece.
I doubt they’ll have the time and/or will to re-record all of the story dialogue. However, I would LOVE them to add in the ability to (at least outside of the story dialogues) change your characters voice.
Rewriting and re-recording the entire game would be too time consuming and cost prohibitive, though we have analyzed certain parts of the game to see where we could make some improvements, if given the resources. It’s safest to assume that the current voiced content will remain, and that new additions to the game will reflect a new direction. If that changes, we’ll be sure to let everyone know.
Erasculio is right that adding additional player voices is hugely expensive due to how many lines are assigned to the PC (player character). Whenever the player speaks in shared content, that line must be recorded a total of 10 times (5 playable races x 2 genders). Also, due to how variant lines are used in the game, the contents of the line have to be written exactly the same, which makes it hard to do any meaningful voice or roleplaying differences between characters.
That stated, all ideas are valid. We had discussed finding ways of giving players new voices, or building a pitch slider for those who wanted such a feature. We settled with what we have now due to time and resource constraints, however.
As I mentioned above, this is not an issue I’m able to reproduce, so I can’t find the issue. I am looking into it, but I don’t have an ETA.
FWIW, I just checked the spawn in question and they’re guarding a rich silver ore node, which is why they’re +1 level.
It’s alright then Gaile, someone should give you a medal for always engaging with us on this forum – it certainly helps from a customer POV.
Whether this happens again or not, thank you for your help.
You’re very welcome. And hey, if it happens again, you let us know and we’ll take care of you, but I’m really crossing my fingers that we never hear from you again! (Well, in the case of a need, that is.
)
I was able to purchase some by using my debit card. (using the ‘click somewhere else’ trick). Paypal never did work. Oh well.
I’m glad you were able to purchase, but sorry for the inconvenience. This sounds like something I should point out to the folks who work on the UI. Thanks for your understanding.
I’m not sure Gaile – I was playing this latest time when I got booted out of game and accused of being involved in gold selling/RTM etc. Since Saturday when I got unbanned I have only sent two gold to someone – I’m not sure if my account is flagged somehow.
I do have email authentication activated for log in attempts (only trusted source is my p/w secured wifi at home and at another house, I also just reset my modem and pw).
I have made a new password now that is long as hell.
But I suspect my account is flagged as I have not had any messages to authorize log in attempts except from me (eg logging into forum on my phone 3G).
I would appreciate any advice you can offer to prevent this from happening.
Nah, we are not flagging your account — there’s no reason that I can see why we’d do that! I talked to the team and what appears to have happened is simple human error, and they caught it pretty quickly, thank goodness. We track various in-game activities, but there’s nothing you did that should have resulted in a block. I’m almost wondering if it was a typo, or a wrong-click situation (like whomever was assigned to unblock the account had the account cached and blocked again — except who has something cached for three days?) So the latter theory isn’t likely, but knowing you were engaged in benign activities, I can’t come up with too many scenarios here.
I do not think this will be repeated, and I’m really sorry for that time out!
Good news: we have a potential fix for this issue in the next full update!
Thank you for your patience, everyone!
