Usually we don’t announce this kind of update unless we are sure that it will be implemented. The reason for that is that adjustement or updates about classes can take time and we need to be 100% sure that the implementation of the fix won’t add new bugs.

We are sorry to hear that but at the moment the only thing your friend can do is try to join Desolation whenever the flow of players is not so high. Remember that server changes are allowed only once per week. The guesting feature will arrive in due time.

thank you for your feedback and for your suggestions regarding bots. However, the team has their own way of identifying and fighting against them. The best thing players can do to help is to keep on reporting the bots using the ingame tool and/or customer support.

Cheaters and hackers you can always report through the in-game reporting tools (choosing Booting as a reason for report). Alternatively you can send screenshots and reports about exploits to the following email address: exploits@arena.net. However, we would rather like to have the forums free from public denounces as the fastest way of helping the security team is following the fore-mentioned steps.

Sorry to hear that, Zeke! Slark and Zaken are right: now the world transfers are only limited to one per week so you need to wait. In the future, however, the option of guesting will be implemented and you will be able to play with all your friends, even if they are in different servers.

I realize it’s frustrating, and all I can do is apologize. Our production team is extremely conservative about protecting the integrity of the Live servers so they only push out updates after they’ve been through a complete testing cycle. So, while I was able to find and fix the bug the same day it was reported on the forums, it isn’t an instantaneous process. The Halloween and November updates are also extremely large, and everything needs to work together, so there’s a lot more to test than just this one story step. Also, any hacks/workaround that we tried to implement would have to go through the same rigourous testing process, so there’s no “fast fix” that can be made. Again, I apologize, and I wish had better news, but this fix has not been forgotten, I just don’t have an ETA for when the fix will be rolled out.
‘Difficulty’ isn’t some quantitative concept, where making something more accessible necessitates removing the challenge for others. It’s about ‘arming’ your players equally, so that those coming to something new or with less experience of certain systems can get up to speed with those who are seasoned, and those who don’t have as much time to waste can still get something out of an event, while those who have all the time in the world can find a proportionate increase in reward.
So please stop treating it like an oppositional binary. My hope is that Josh and ANet have the wisdom to see this as a problem that requires a creative solution, rather than a supposed choice between pleasing two different types of player.
I mostly agree with this. My only caveat is that there are distinct groups of players with different interests. So there is content that is compelling to one group, but not another. PvP, WvW, PvE, JP. There is obviously overlap, and the more we can please everyone with one piece of content the better. However, if we attempt to make EVERY piece of content meet this criteria we will lose the fringes. And more importantly to me as an artist, we lose a lot of chances to make distinct, memorable, and boundary-pushing stuff.
The point being that when I’m testing a PvP arena with Izzy, it is very, very, very difficult for me to even get him to half health. Now if I LOVED PvP, and really got into it and researched builds and all the necessary accouterments, I’ll bet it would get easier to get him to half health. But I DON’T love PvP. I’m just not a competitive person, I feel bad when I beat people, and losing isn’t particularly compelling to me either. So for me and my ilk, PvP is TOO HARD. You could make all the guides and walk-throughs and hold my hand and show me how to sit properly, it just won’t get any easier to me unless I changed my mind about competition. And Izzy can’t get past the first chest on the Clock Tower.
None of this is to say that if given more time we could not have made the Clock Tower much better. We absolutely could. I’ve made some tweaks and I hope if it’s back next year I’ll some more time and the scriptors can work out the bugs, etc. All the criticism I’ve heard about it is valid except for those saying it’s bad because you can’t see yourself. (As many have pointed out you just have to wait 1 second for the crowd to get ahead of you until you have learned the jumps. Then you can get ahead of the pack by the first chest.)
Focksbot is right that it’s a dangerous precedent to pin difficulty on poor skills since any kind of shoddy design could be creating difficulty. It doesn’t mean that there is NO truth in that many people with low skill in a particular area will tend to complain that content is too difficult. But as a designer, I can’t let all criticism bounce off me by chalking it all up to sucky players. It’s just a balance, and that’s where design skills come into play.
Ya, it was a visual culling bug. It will be fixed next patch.

… well that’s unfortunate that the head Econ guy doesn’t see “Flipping” as Manipulation.
I’m just curious what else you’d call it when the entire point is to manipulate the final sales price for a bigger profit on something that would have been a lot cheaper if there was no short-term speculating middlemen driving up the prices.
Keep in mind there is a difference between Moving along the Supply Demand curves, and shifting the supply demand curves.
I don’t recall making any statement about what I consider market manipulation? Have a forgotten something?
We found and fixed the issue, but I don’t have an ETA for when it will be pushed to the Live servers. In the meantime, a workaround is to release the treb when your final shot is in the air, before the camera cutscene kicks in.
