I am going to repost this because it’s relevant to some of the appeals being posted here:
Folks, while I want to let this thread run, because players want to help players, in the vast majority of cases, the player who is experiencing an issue needs to contact Support by filing a ticket through the “Ask a Question” tab on that linked page.
And for tips on what information to provide in a ticket, please read this post.
I’ve noticed lately that there have been quite a few fraudulent purchase cases, where someone purchased from an unauthorized vendor and found that his/her account was closed. (Someone posted in another thread “Don’t blame us, we were just trying to save some money.” Lesson learned, I hope? If you buy below the cost from an unauthorized seller, you’re almost certainly going to get ripped off.)
The vast majority of accounts closed for botting are indeed involved in the use of third-party programs. Yes, they post here, and yes, they file multiple tickets, but no, they’re not going to be reinstated because they are botters or RMTers. You positively cannot appraise how many “innocent people” are being blocked for botting when so many UNinnocent botters are posting phony appeals.
Now, I’ll be the first to admit that a few (and it truly is a small number) of accounts may be closed as a “false positive” for botting. We will sort that out, so please contact Support.

I don’t want to get into an argument, so this is the last statement I will make here:
Of the data that I have seen. Which is significant. It is reasonable to say
1) Goldsellers are a criminal group
2) Goldsellers damage games
3) Goldsellers cannot be classified as competition because they are not in the same industry
These are not statements of belief. They are statements of statistics.

Please continue to discuss these matters with the Support Team to reach the best resolution.

We will not reinstate accounts found to be involved in these breaches. If something is listed as “final response” it will not be reviewed again.

This is an issue we’ve been investigating, but has been difficult to fix. We are still working on it, however, and will update as we get more information on it. Thank you for the reports!

This is just a reminder that WvW matches roll over at 00:00 UTC and are thus not subject to daylight savings time. So, if you’re in a region that participates in daylight savings time then the matches will now roll over one hour earlier.

guess I had a bug before with them not showing then lol
that juvenile was still white though, and should have been green
Thanks for the report! Please start a new thread for this separate issue and provide both the location of the drake and the server you’re on so that we can investigate.
— Live Response Embed —
Is this still happening; and if it is, do you know if you’re crashing when you type in specific characters? It’s possible the crash could be caused by entering characters that the game doesn’t recognize.
— Live Response Embed —
Thank you for the reports, everyone! While I don’t know the technical details of where we’re at with this issue, it is one that we’re aware of and working to fix.
— Live Response Embed —
White/yellow names have always shown up if you have “Show all enemy names” enabled. While they’re hostile, you can attack them and your skills will affect them.
Hey all, allow me to quote Gaile Gray relating to this and all third-party programs:
ArenaNet cannot approve or review or “vet” any third-party programs. Our general policy is that anything that gives advantage is forbidden; anything that imbalances the game in favor of one player over another is strictly disallowed. With that said, we are aware that some utilities help players without impacting others, that is, they do not give anyone an advantage over someone else.
Our development team is not able to review third-party programs to assess their components or give them any sort of approval. We make our policies clear in our User Agreement, Rules of Conduct, and the Conduct Breaches and Outcomes document, which you can find in the Legal Documentation section of our website: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/legal/ You should know the following:
1. If you chose to use any third-party program, you do so at your own risk.
2. We cannot offer support if the third-party program impacts Guild Wars or Guild Wars 2 and, for instance, makes the game unplayable.
3. If you choose to use what you believe to be a “benign,” or non-advantage-giving program, be sure to get it from a legitimate source to protect yourself from the possible addition of cheats or key-loggers.
The best way for a player to assess whether a specific third-party program could have any impact on another player or a PvP opponent is to ask:
• “Does this program allow someone to play faster, better, longer, or more accurately than someone who doesn’t use it?”
• “Does this program allow someone to ‘play’ when he/she is not at the computer?”
• “Does this program allow the user to gain undeserved rewards?”
If the answer to any of these questions is “yes”—or even “maybe”—then we strongly recommend that you do not use the program because to do so may place your Guild Wars or Guild Wars 2 account in jeopardy. In the future, we will be working directly with the community to develop app support for Guild Wars 2, so stay tuned for more info!
This is our only stance on this matter. I’m sorry but we cannot and will not investigate third-party software to declare it safe or unsafe, as this takes away resources from our primary responsibilities. If you choose to use third-party software, you do so at your own risk.
Nice work, Ismial!

The suggestions here are good: Try PayPal, try pre-paid (local) credit cards. Or, try finding Gem Cards through a local vendor, a list of whom can be found on buy.guildwars2.com.

I am very frustrated at Arena Net right now. I logged into my account last night (November 5th, 2012) and I found out that I have been banned for botting. I believe this is a mistake since I play extremely fair and I did not break the code of conduct (Which I have read). Can someone at Arena Net please respond to my ticket or tell me what I am doing wrong?
By the way: I realize I am not giving Arena Net the fair amount of time to answer but I also find it unfair that I was banned for no reason.
Ticket Key: 121106-000180
You are correct, you are not giving the team a fair amount of time to respond.
The forum is not intended as a way to “light a fire” under the team, or a way to move your ticket up in the queues. Support is answering quite promtly, and while complicated issues (such as account ownership issues, compromise incidents) can take extra time, in most cases you’ll hear back promptly.
Please be patient and allow the team to help you. Thank you.

Suddenly got forcefully terminated with msg pop.
I thought it was kinda connection problem at first time
so I tried to reconnect.
but I got following msg and it was so….embarassing.
‘Your Guild Wars 2 account has been terminated for engaging in or assisting with
gold or item sales for real-world money, which is a breach of User Agreement

player. I didnt even purchase anything with gem so far…I really dont remember what caused this.At least I really wanna know exactly what I did for permanent ban. or my account has been hacked?
That sounds as if the account was involved in a chargeback or as if the seller was found to have engaged in a fraudulent transaction.

A lot of abilities are condition based. I personally play a ton of ranger shortbow, which has an auto-attack that is glorious (even after the nerf). My other skills are very situational on the short bow: A cripple to slow down a chaser, a poison spread to lower healing over multiple enemies, a daze, and a dodge/swiftness. There no sense in blowing all those things, and just through smart positioning and auto-attacking, I can put out bunches of condi-DPS.
I don’t imagine we’ll implement something that allows you to observe another player’s “work-rate” because with all the different ways to make and play a character, it would be difficult to measure and quantify someone’s input in a factual way. It’s not about the numbers you make as an individual, but the team-play and coordination as a group.
Mike Lewis has provided some updates on the status of the mobile authenticator here. Any further questions on the matter can be asked there as well.

Thanks for the discussion all, but its time to lay this thread to rest. Everyone in the game is not only allowed , but is actively encouraged, to play whatever gender/race combination they wish and whatever sex they are in real life has absolutely no bearing on that. In other words, get back out there and enjoy the game however you see fit!

If they weren’t so hard to get I wouldn’t NEED to have someone steal one. Oh, but would I want one if they were easy to get?

Got the digital pre-order from Guild Wars 2.com
There is something very strange here, the first and only e-mail I received from Guild Wars 2 was the Shadow of the Mad King event e-mail. My account got compromised and they have it locked down, how can I even prove that I own it without the serial code? I wish I realized that I never received one earlier. Can I prove ownership by providing credit card information? I am 100% sure my e-mail is not compromised, I would think my paypal and other information would have been stolen if it were, not just my GW2 account. Something is going very bad at ncsoft security…
First, I merged forum posts as we don’t need two concurrent discussions about this same issue.
Secondly, those who purchase through buy.guildwars2.com will receive an email, although it may go to spam, junk, or be blocked by security before it even reaches you. (Obviously there is nothing we can do about that, with our regret.)
Please continue your discussion with Support. They will do their best to help you. (If you find you still need help after three days, feel free to post in the Tickets for Review sticky thread.)

Hey there!
Here are some options to prevent people from just getting a second fraudulent serial to strip off all items accuiered and that way scam ArenaNet:
- Direct payment options that are not so easy to fake or steal. Direct bank wire transfer. Western Union. Paypal. Only giving out the key after the payment was received.
- Images of identity proof as there are: ID and a credit card with the same name as the ID (photoshopped so you only see the last 4 digits).
- Stripping off the charakters of all items and/or gold. I wouldnt mind, i just want the progress of my story back mainly.
- Sending a secret PIN number to a phone land line number for verification.
- Sending a secret PIN code over post (snail mail), for verificationJust some thoughts that might help to meet customers and ArenaNet as well.
Greetings.
D.
Thank you for posting this. The issue with “just let me add a new key and everything will be peachy” is this: If your account was stolen and used by RMT, we do not and cannot allow anyone to access the account as it is because that account will contain whatever ill-gotten goods the RMT worker possessed. We cannot allow an RMT to add a new code to re-acquire those goods, either.
Your suggestion answers a question I asked earlier. The question is casual, not official, but I’m interested in the answer: If we could allow you to access the existing account with a new code but with the inventory emptied to remove all items, would you want to do it? Or would you prefer to start over?
I’m really curious about how players feel about this.

Hi all,
First and foremost: please be aware that your accounts are still protected by the mobile authenticator at this time.
Here’s what has happened:
- We have been developing a “remember this network” feature for the mobile authenticator in line with the same feature used by email authentication
- This feature became active tonight during the planned maintenance updates
- For any account which has already selected to remember a network, the mobile authenticator will respect your existing settings
- This means that if you are logging in from a location that you permitted via email authentication, the mobile authenticator will not currently prompt you for a secondary code
Your account is still covered by the authenticator for logins from unverified locations.
This is the result of an oversight on my part and I’d like to apologize for any uncertainty and worry. We’ve double checked the systems and authentication is working correctly for unverified logins.
Unlinking the authenticator was temporarily disabled due to a configuration accident; this has been corrected and should work again.
For the moment we do not have a user interface for editing your “remembered” network locations. As a result, please be very cautious when selecting to allow new locations from the emails (or, in the near future, from the mobile authenticator login screen).
Thanks for bearing with us while we get the rest of the mobile authenticator features ready to go.
We are aware of this issue and are working to fix it.
- Corrected drop rate for Unidentified Dye.
On November 1, we introduced a change that unintentionally increased the drop rate of Unidentified Dye. Today’s game update corrects the drop rate for Unidentified Dye.
