Hi all!
As you suspect, the Soul Reaping line is not functioning correctly. It’s intended to grant an additional 1% life force per point spent, but does not do so. A fix is already on the way for it and will be coming in a patch very soon. Keep in mind that it will still degenerate based on a percent of the maximum amount, but you’ll be able to take more damage overall.

To test (when it’s fixed): If your life force bar is full and you put points into the trait line, you’ll see empty space appear where the extra percentage is gained.

I bought the game this week, i played only a few hours these days because during the week I dont have much time.
But now the weekend comes, i was so excited to really start to play and surprise surprise. I received the message “Your Guild Wars 2 account has been suspended for an account issue”.
So desappointed =(
I opened the ticket 121109-002219. But as I see here in forum, I will probably not be able to play this weekend write?
The message is not clear about the reason I´m suspended. It´s very frustating.
What is the common reason? Anyone knows? I bought the game from the site and played just fine for a couple of hours during this week.
Thank you for any clarification.

Hi. Guild Wars 2 team.
I have been disappointed. because my account has been blocked.
when i logged in, the message “Your Guild Wars 2 account has been terminated for engaging in or assisting with gold or item sales for real world money, which is a breach of the user agreement and rules of conduct. This action is permanent” is appeared.
but i DO NOT deal with the real-world money!! i just bought the gem through Black lion gate in the game. What happened to my account… I send this situation to the support team about 15 hours ago. but there has Not been the respond until this time….

I’m on Australian time and it’s coming up on 3 days so I’m posting this before I go to bed.
Haven’t heard anything apart from ‘give us your code’.
Really at least just want the reason why so I can get a refund from the retailer if it’s not something trivial, my time is running out on the possibility of a refund.

121102-000090 Account closed for payment fraud; awaiting review

The seller is refusing to work with me on this because of the “awaiting review” in the status update. This was posted a couple of days ago here, but has not updated my support account. Is this the preferred support channel to keep trying to escalate this? Can I get an update on the “awaiting review” or get the account cleared?

If I am reading this in correctly the seller giving you a refund for a fraudulent purchase is completely unrelated to your status on the ticket. If they sold you a bad code they should give you a refund. There is nothing we can do to force this, because they have no relationship with ArenaNet or NCsoft.

Please continue to work with your unauthorized seller to get the refund, and you can discuss the possibility of adding a new code to the account as opposed to starting a new account. Each of these situations is handled on a case-by-case basis.

If you update your ticket you do not fall back to the end of the queue. You can open your ticket and add more info any time and the queue placement will remain the same.

The issue is creating new tickets, and those definitely do delay response time.

Reinstatements will be handled relatively quickly in cases where an error has been made. Sometimes it requires a lot more time, when it appears that the player submitting the appeal was indeed involved in botting. Please allow this to work through the system and if you find you still need help after three days, feel free to post in the Tickets for Review thread, which is at the top of this Account Support sub-forum.

The chance of an innocent player getting suspended multiple times for botting is very slim. I’m not saying it absolutely will not happen, but it’s not likely that someone will be caught in a bot net twice unless he/she is botting.

We cannot give you advice on how to avoid being flagged as bot, because to do that is to give botters and RMT companies a blueprint on how to avoid detection. I personally avoid “bot hot spots” because (1) bots irritate me and (2) there probably is a slightly greater chance that one could be caught in a sweep. But having said, calling it a “sweep” does not suggest that we block everyone in a zone, or everyone at a certain node, or anything of that sort.

I’m still unable to reproduce the bug, but I did make some changes to the story step to try and help. Specifically, the prototype is no longer viewed as “hostile” by the NPCs, so only the player can destroy it. It’ll be part of next week’s content update.

To reiterate what I said earlier, I really wanted to push this fix a lot earlier, but some changes were also made to the audio system for ALL story steps and, unfortunately, the changes made the fixed story step incompatible with Live, so we had to wait until the entire change was ready to be pushed out. As a result, the upcoming update contains multiple fixes that have been made to different story steps over the past 2 weeks, but they all had to wait for the larger update. Thanks for your patience!

People often ask how WvW rankings are determined so in this post I will outline exactly the system that we use.

The short, short summary is that after each battle we use the score differential between the worlds that fought each other, along with their previous ratings, to calculate new ratings. Once ratings have been calculated we re-sort the list of worlds and form new groupings of 3 for the next battle.

Far more details regarding the ratings calculation for the mathematically inclined:

WvW world ratings are calculated using the Glicko 2 rating system. Full details regarding Glicko 2 are available at http://www.glicko.net/glicko.html. How an algorithm is applied is often nearly as important as the algorithm itself, so here are the details of exactly how we use Glicko 2 in the context of each 3 world matchup. My explanation of these details assumes basic familiarity with the Glicko 2 algorithm.

Assume the worlds are wA, wB, and wC. In order to handle a 3 way battle we treat each match as having two battles for each world. So when calculating the new rating for wA the two battles are wA vs. wB and wA vs. wC. Likewise for wB and wC. Naturally, we do all the calculations before updating any of the ratings. Note that this usage is supported by Glicko 2.

We use a Tau of 0.6 and a k of 1.0

In standard Glicko 2 scores are represented as 0.0 for a loss, 0.5 for a draw, and 1.0 for a win. We use a slightly modified version that takes into account score differential. I’ll explain how using the wA vs. wB battle as an example. To calculate the Glicko 2 score for wA in the wA vs. wB matchup we do the following:

wAPercent = wAScore / (wAScore + wBScore)
wAGlickoScore = (sin((wAPercent – 0.5) * Pi) + 1) * 0.5

where wAScore and wBScore are the raw scores from the end of the match.

That last transform is easiest to visualize as a graph .

We perform the same score calculation for each world and then plug those results into Glicko 2. This means that ratings change over time as a result of battle outcomes and that the rating for a given server reflects the history of that server’s performance.
