"Raw Candy Corn" harvesting nodes briefly visible after Halloween special event

The objective is tied to some undead giants that are part of the attack wave, you don’t NEED the tank but it can be very difficult without it.
I’ve submitted a bug for the turret issue, I can’t find any obvious reasons why it’s misbehaving, especially since it was working at release.
I am a man with more money than free time, thankfully being gainfully employed in 2012. I have no shame for purchasing gems from the Gem Store with some of my hard-won dollars, instead of the scarcer resource of time out of the office.
I was a bit surprised when my bank texted me today to inform me that someone had hi-jacked my card and was racking up charges at a video game arcade!
Call immediately if this isn’t you, they said! The last arcade game I played was X-Men vs. Street Fighter, when it was new, and while my memory is filled with nostalgic youthful afternoons spent with sweaty hands gripping the pizza-greasy joystick to use the OP Magneto/Akuma team to beat Apocalypse, I don’t believe I’ve even actually seen a video arcade since I acquired my first credit card.
Although the nature of the theft was at first unbelievable, the amount wasn’t: $10! The exact quantity of dollars which comprises a roll of quarters, the perfect crime for a video game arcade: converting my virtual plastic money into untraceable but machine-ready coins!
So I dutifully called, immediately in fact; almost more to learn where I could find this archaic den of adolescent profanity than out of panic that my CC # had been stolen. What is this place, this hovel for teenage credit card thieves who are so desperate for another try at an Area 51 boss before the counter hits zero that they resort to petty theft of a roll of quarters, 21st-century style?
It is definitely a video game arcade, she said. CHARGES.NCSOFT.COM, the kindly and concerned lady informed me over the phone.
MORAL OF THE STORY: NCSoft, my bank says that you report your charges as Video Game Arcade via the charge type code. And that this triggers fraud alerts for them because Video Game Arcades are as dead as newspaper subscriptions, the phonograph, and Latin. They recommended that I ask you to update the charge codes. Something less 1986, perhaps?
thanks.
You win the “Best Post of the Week” award. There were many in the running, but this is awesome chocolate-y information wrapped up in a tasty, candy shell!
I will refer this to our CS Managers, particularly those who work on the Payments / Billing Team, to see if we can address this. In the meantime, thanks for the walk down Memory Lane. (Asteroids, forever!)
Edit: Wait a minute! Latin, dead? Et tu, Twitch?

Good idea. Not sure if it’s something we could do at this point. But I’ll keep it in mind on my next JP.
Hello everyone,
please refrain from harsh tone and respect each other’s opinion, so that this topic can be discussed in a constructive way.
Thank you.
Hello,
We already have a thread talking about Lost shore here. Please stick to it for more clarity.
Thank you!

I agree that we must improve the response time on tickets. Most people do get a response from an agent in a short time, but it can take a few days to do the research that allows the team to reinstate the account (or determine that it must remain closed).
Improving response times — especially related to the appeal of an account that was compromised, misused, and terminated — is a top priority!

FYI: This thread is not an official thread, and we are not gathering reports on this thread. This is a player post and I’ve amended the title to make that clear.
Many account terminations are related to account compromise incidents. A thief steals the account and uses it for activities — spam advertising, gold sales — that get the account closed. Account reinstatements require time, so we ask that you allow the team sufficient time to work through the issue related to your account.
We do have an official thread where you can post, after you have contacted Support and after you have allowed three full days for the team to resolve the issue.
Post in the official thread if, after three days, you are still awaiting assistance. Tickets for Review: 3 Days and Older

Hey all, this is a high priority issue we’ve had our forum programmer working on. The fix for this bug is in testing right now, and we hope this will be solved when we deploy our next forum update.

Hello,
If you think that some players are acting strangely and could be bot, please report them via the ingame report tool or send a request to our customer support with all necessary details.
I also invite you to read the post from Colin Johanson about bots by clicking here.
Thank you for your help!
I would still consider it too soon to have reliable statistics. (Not even a quarter has passed)
Hey there! Thank you for reporting this issue. However, I am looking for a bit more information to help us out with nailing this issue down.
I am assuming this is on the female set of the armor due to your descriptions of the dye slots, but can you verify the sex of your player?
Also, does this happen when all 6 pieces of armor are from the 2nd tier cultural set? Or do you have some other armors from different sets equipped as well?
Thank you!

Sharing accounts is a very bad, even foolish, thing to do. It is against the User Agreement and the Rules of Conduct, and it’s in those documents for a lot of reasons, but mostly, I think, because shared accounts are a huge source of support and account issues and in many cases, we are unable to return access to anyone who claims to “own” the account, since ownership is not clear.
If you get your account back, change the password and play on it without allowing anyone else to access the account or to know your credentials. Your brother should purchase his own account.

Thanks for submitting the survey and I will mention to the team that there may be a glitch so they can watch for similar reports.
Oh, and good move on the password change. We do send surveys and you checked just the right things to ensure it was legit. But you can never be too safe!

Just to update you guys, the number of false positives is very low. Of course, that doesn’t make you feel better if it affects you. But do keep in mind that there are a goodly number of incidents where the account holder was not botting, but where the account was compromised and used for botting by the thief. That can’t be counted as a false positive because the account truly did need to be closed to rectify the issue and get the account back to the owner.
We’re diligent about improving the system to reduce the false positives to as close to zero as humanly possible. But please keep in mind that an account block is not personal and that compromised accounts will be blocked and then reinstated once the legitimate owner contacts us.
Lastly, I’ve noted that some of the protests here and in tickets are completely without merit. I found one individual — 100% certainly a botter — who submitted nine (9!) tickets protesting the block, and was posting frequently on the forums. Please keep this in mind — the volume of chatter does not necessarily equate to the number of innocent players (with all due respect to the innocent people!)

I just logged into my account and was informed that it had been terminated due to “engaging in or assisting with gold or item sales for real-world money”. This is quite surprising, considering that when I last logged in (a couple of weeks ago I believe), I was at level 24 and had only been playing for a couple of days. Since I have only played on my computer and avoid engaging in password reuse, I find it hard to believe that my account has been hacked. I can only assume in that case that the issue is at Arenanet’s end.
As required, I submitted a question to the support page, and am currently waiting…
(the reference number is #121031-002881 ). The only problem is that I am waiting at a LAN party while my friends are playing next to me.
I’m sorry to say that is sounds as if your account may have been compromised during the time you were away from the game. That’s what the “symptoms” here seem to indicate.
Since you submitted a support ticket — and thank you for that — the team will help you as soon as possible.

My post from the 23rd still applies. The issue is fixed, it’s being run through QA (our testers), then it will be applied to Live during a content update. I do not have an ETA for when it will hit Live.

From the update notes:
“Unfortunately, Hurricane Sandy has made these past few days very hard for some of our players on the east coast of the United States. We would like to extend our condolences to all those affected by the storm. We recognize that because of power failures and the general situation, many players have been unable to meet Mad King Thorn in Lion’s Arch. One of the fake Mad King Thorn actors has decided to stick around until 11/15 to ensure that those who couldn’t play due to the storms still receive the “Attend the Party” achievement. If you missed the final event, you will be able to speak to him at the Grand Piazza in Lion’s Arch and receive both your achievement and a Halloween hat.”
As noted above, you have to leave the trebuchet before its shot lands and ends the objective. There’s a bug with losing control of the trebuchet during the camera cutscene. It has been fixed, but I don’t know when it will hit Live. Thanks!
As Colin posted, we put an NPC in the game for those who had missed out. Therefore I will lock this thread.
Hello Philfy,
your question has already been answered, so this thread will now be locked.
Thanks for understanding.
Hello redfenix,
as orci has already answered your question, this thread will now be locked.
Thank you for understanding.
Hello Nekroseth,
your feedback is much appreciated. At the moment, there´s no information to share regarding your request. However, keep your eyes open for any new developments.
Hello Isaac,
as it has already been mentioned, there are two threads about this topic. You´re most welcome to join those conversations.
Thanks for your feedback.
Hello everybody,
as it has already been mentioned by some of you, events are, of course, always announced before they happen. Apologies for the problems caused if you didn´t know it was coming.
Thanks for your feedback.
Hello,
indeed there has been one and there´s a new one coming in mid november.
This question has been answered, so the thread will now be locked.
Thanks for understanding.
I believe John was responding to the OP not myself.
You are correct sir. I was in fact responding to the OP in that statement.
Yep, just log into Lion’s Arch and your emissary achievement should be fixed (assuming you completed the right achievements).
From tonight’s update notes, we found a way to try and help folks out we could sneak in that wouldn’t break our November stuff that launched today as well. As Anthony linked above →

Please see this note added to tonight’s update notes in relation to the final achievement for the festival, and those who have been unable to play due to the massive storm conditions on the US East Coast:

The event and the stuff going on that weekend will basically all be able to be accessed by characters of any level using our level-scaling technology.
We want everyone to be able to check it out.
More details….As they emerge from the depths.
Maybe she’s a little daft? Or just in denial.
At any rate, I’ll see what I can do but we’re going to have to live with it for awhile I’m afraid.
The patch most definitely will have bug fixes for ranger. I fixed two earlier today alone. Realistically, however we can only do a patch every few weeks if we expect to make more than minor improvements so all the things I talked about will be in the next big patch which is about 2 weeks away.
Holiday
Halloween has come and gone. You put Mad King Thorn back in his place with as much skill and enthusiasm as we’d hoped. We on the Halloween Team would like to thank you for participating with such gusto. It did our hearts good to know so many of you were enjoying the pumpkins of our labors (so to speak). Thank you!

- The Mad King is gone, and he has taken his chest with him. The Mad King Chest can no longer be created.
Paid SPvP Tournaments
In addition to free sPvP tournaments, you can now play in paid sPvP tournaments! You can join them by going to the Heart of the Mists (using the crossed-swords icon in your quick-launch icons) and speak to the Tournament Master. You will need Tournament Tickets to play, which you can get through reward chests or the Gem Store! To see more info on the rewards for paid tournaments, look here.
WvW
- Closed a number of exploits that inappropriately allowed access to keeps.
- Orbs of power have been removed from WvW to address hacking and balance issues. They tended to strengthen teams already in the lead and were irresistible targets for hackers and cheaters, both of which could have an unfortunately large impact on any given WvW game. Orbs or some similar mechanic may return in the future, but only if we’re confident that they won’t create similar issues.
Personal Story
- “The Battle of Fort Trinity”—Fixed a bug that could prevent progress on the “Defend the gate” objective.
Dungeons
Sorrow’s Embrace
- Fergg’s Chain: The Grenadiers found a way back into the ranks. We have now adjusted their numbers to match. Waves have been adjusted to have a more reasonable spawn time.
Caudecus’s Manor
- Story Chain: Fixed an issue that could prevent Separatist guards from spawning properly.
Reminder
On October 22nd, we added new minidungeons, jumping puzzles, and events to several areas.
- Mount Maelstrom—A jumping puzzle has been added.
- Fireheart Rise—A minidungeon has been added.
- Dredgehaunt Cliffs—A minidungeon has been added.
- Various Maps—Modus Sceleris events now appear in several maps.
- There is a skritt burglar on the loose in Tyria! Adventurers that encounter this thieving rodent are encouraged to confiscate whatever loot they can shake out of her.
The achievements will no longer be completeable after Halloween is turned off. This is similar to the monthly or daily achievements which also cannot be completed after a certain amount of time. I’m not 100% sure on this, but I believe the plan is to replace the achievements in the special event category with a new set of special event achievements whenever the next special event begins. You’ll keep the points and any titles forever, but I don’t think we would leave you with a bunch of achievements that you (or new players) will never be able to complete.
Glory is for competitive PVP. It’s purpose is to create prestige for people who are good at killing other players on a level playing field. Activities, on the other hand, are a grab bag of mini-games that shake up the gameplay for a bit. Yes, it’s—**gasp** —fun.
The fact that the glory bar is even displayed is just a side effect of us leveraging our awesome competitive PVP framework to host them. (It is really cool by the way. For example, did you know that you play activities with players from other worlds?)
But now that we’ve got that straight, I’m super interested in learning what you guys think you should be getting out of activities. Trick or treat bags were sort of a trial, but I think it worked out pretty well so we may do similar things in the future. Keg brawl doesn’t have anything like that, but it does have achievements. Would that compel you to play? Something else?
Thanks for your time!
Since the questions weren’t asked I couldn’t answer them, but I’ll just jump in and say we’ve got teams working on a lot of the major feedback areas in the game as well.
From a new team we hired to destroy bots, to the recent FOV beta changes we implemented, to a team investigating and fixing events that stall and more. We’ve got peeps building and expanding the game, and entire teams dedicating to working on the parts of it that already exist as well.
These are all separate groups of people, so doing one doesn’t mean we aren’t doing the other.
So, quickly, on the design philosophy at play here (you can feel free to disagree, but this is what I feel):
We want the Thief to be the class that most “slips through your fingers”. Other classes like the Ele and Mes have some of it too (and rightly so), but if anyone is escaping a fight, that should be a slippery Thief.
The Necro, on the other hand, should be the dude you CANNOT get away from. It’s an attrition based class, so the idea is that if you lock horns w/ a necro, know what you’re getting into: you’re fighting a class that’s built for attrition. It can dot you, dps you, rip your boons, and severely hinder your movement. AND it also has the ability to soak up a lot of damage. So the longer the fight goes, the stronger the Necro should get. That’s the idea behind Death Shroud, but little escape ability.
So we don’t want that attrition class to also have great ways to escape. This used to be the case, and we felt the Necro was just too strong if it was great at attrition as well as movement/escape. We wanted the Necro to be more about attrition, and for other classes (Thief, Ele, Mes) to be more about escaping and mobility.
Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for all the positive comment’s and feedback guys. This is probably some of the most mature and constructive responses I’ve seen on a post yet.
Was just about to say the same.
Great posts, great suggestions.

The thing I’ve been the most encouraged about from the devs is their apparent ability to let all the rage and stupidity go in one ear and out the other.
Being confident that you know your product better than idiots yelling baseless claims is something that seems to be in short supply in this industry.
I am a little nervous about the up coming November patch as ANet has stated that they will be touching about all of the classes and I think things are pretty close to good as it is (plus we still need a lot better visability of the high-end with spectator mode and skrims for the meta to shake out). But I’m sure I’ll be impressed again ( I mean they really nailed the whole healing eles being a bit too much to handle thing) and my faith will never be higher =).
PvP designers, in my experience, have very tough skin. A lot of us grew up in competitive environments (for me that’s everything from international Starcraft and Guild Wars, to live fighter game tournaments, to high school and intramural sports, to high school and college debate), so we’re used to having to calmly deal with conflict.
When in conflict, I’ve found that the most important thing to do is to breathe. If you keep your eyes open, your head clear, and stay in your breath, the answer to any problem will eventually come to you. You just have to keep breathing, one breath at at time (this is especially important when you’re doing Brazillian Jiu Jitsu!)
And, when I said we’d be hitting all classes, I meant that we look at ways to give all classes more enjoyment from their builds and balance, not just the current build of the week. We try to spread the love around as much as we can.
“Every man takes the limits of his own field of vision for the limits of the world.”
